Luke pov:

I could see Leo watching and following me and y/n to our usual hangout spot next to the lake. Y/n and Leo have liked each other for so long yet they are oblivious of the others feeling for them.

I came up with a plan to finally get these two idiots together at last. The whole camp has been waiting for this moment to come.

I scooted closer to y/n and placed my hand on her waist pulling her close to me. Making sure Leo could see everything

I saw rage fill his eyes as I whispered dumb stuff about her brother to her and watched her laugh her lungs out

Noticing he still hadn’t made any moves yet I decided to go for my last resort.

I pecked her on the cheek and she stopped talking and stared at me.

13! They're all different lengths and about half of them are complete? And only more to come because I joined another big bang...

It's crazy because I only started really getting into writing in the past 3 years and I hit 151,653 words! I'm very proud to be here! I remember when writing 40k in a year seemed impossible for me.

3) What are your top five fics by kudos?

Haha this is more of me having one very popular fic and the rest are neck and neck, but here is the order! "Hello, Time Goes Quickly", "Fate Led Us to You (It Was Worth the Wait)", "I'll Take Care of Your Roots So Grow Tall, My Love", "Time to be Human", and "The Trials of Loving"!

4) What fandoms do you write for?

I've written all over the place, and some I won't come back to writing for even if I still read! I've written for D. Grayman, Marvel, Mob Psycho 100, Genshin, My Hero Academia, Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun, and The S Classes that I Raised! I mostly write for the last two!

5) Do you respond to comments? why or why not?

I actually always respond to comments! Every time. I make it a point to respond to every comment I get on my fics. I just get so excited knowing someone cared enough to comment, and want the reader to know I see them!

6) What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don't really write angsty endings so I'll just go with angstiest in general! I'd say my S Class Percy Jackson au, "The Trials of Loving" is the one!

7) What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Ooooo I have a lot of happy endings! And they're pretty happy if I do say so myself. Maybe my Percy Jackson au for Sctir "The Trials of Loving" again lol. It ends on their wedding day!

8) Do you get hate on fics?

Nope! I have gotten spam though rip. At most it's commenters who are confused so I explain, but my commenters are lovely people!

9) Do you write smut?

... I have one smut fic and it's my most popular one. It's 30k and only like 5k is smut, and all of it was hard to write lol. But it must be done! For anyone curious it is in fact "Hello, Time Goes Quickly" lol.

10) Do you write crossovers?

My first fic was actually a crossover fic! It's inspired by liketolaugh 's crossover fic "Cosmic Composite" which is an Avenger's and D. Grayman crossover. Everyone should check out their fics! I'm confident of my characterization of characters! It's why I usually can't do other POVs for other characters. I need to feel confident in how I understand them to write for them.

Writing in detail. I like getting to the point, because too long sentences in my writing aren't interesting lol. So sometimes there are images in my head I don't describe enough for readers to picture what I'm imagining.

18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Fun! I just want to make sure I use it right.

I love your ideas on the TUAP proposal/wedding! Do you have any headcanons about how book percabeth gets engaged/marriage other than that Percy proposes?

I do have a few ideas! I don't generally have a stable future headcanon for them; I write whatever feels right for a given fic. But I do generally have them wait until after college to get engaged and married, they have a small ceremony, and then they have kids starting around age 27.

It doesn't take long after college for them to get engaged. They've been talking about getting married since they were 17, so it's not really a matter of if just when. Percy knows Annabeth wants to be proposed to, because she wants to be chosen. She's always had to find, make, hold onto, and let go of family though the years. So Percy knows it's really important to her that he choose her this time (he chooses her every time, of course).

The proposal itself doesn't look very grand -- there isn't a room full of candles or anything crazy elaborate. But it is deeply thoughtful. Percy picks a place that means a lot to Annabeth, and he rehearses exactly all the things he wants to say to her. I think the proposal would either be a) on top of a building she designed (although this would probably not make sense, unless they were getting engaged on Olympus, given how young they'd be) b) at The Plaza, because this is where he shared his one vulnerable spot with her (but I don't really like this one because of the trauma. Like this is also the spot where she almost died). c) (my personal favorite) during the holidays with their family and friends. I picture it in the Jackson apartment, all warm and lit up for Christmas/Saturnalia/Yule with friends and family. I like this one the most because it is Percy not just saying "I want us to be family" but also offering her, promising her all of this warmth and love forever.

Percy does feel like he kind of botched the engagement. Not by doing it poorly or anything, it's just that, once he starts trying to give his rehearsed speech he starts crying, which he's really thrown off by, because he never cries. It throws him completely off, and he forgets everything he was going to say. Annabeth is deeply touched (and also crying, but that's normal for her), so she just says yes and adds "you can tell me the speech later." From her pov, the engagement was perfect, and Percy did everything right. It's one of her favorite memories forever. And that's it! They're engaged!

They have a small, intimate wedding, but it is nice. Annabeth does get a dress and the flowers, and they have a party. It's lots of fun. I feel like they either have a really short engagement and plan something in like 6 months. Or they have a long engagement and it takes them like two years to actually put everything together, because their early 20s are so busy with career stuff they just don't have time.

Annabeth does the bulk of the planning, but Percy plans the food. Sally of course helps Annabeth with all the mom things, like picking out the dress. I feel like Annabeth didn't think she'd get something that frilly or girly, like she thought she'd get something sleek, maybe even a jumpsuit. But she ends up falling in love with something very, very girly, and also maybe blue.

i wrote a 7.2k truth spell fic that i wasn't happy with, so i don't think i'll ever finish it. if you all ever want an excerpt or something, let me know! i have a million others, but off the top of my dome, i wrote a few paragraphs of soulless!sam deciding to kill cas because he's in love with dean, and it would "distract" dean from the task at hand. but it's really hard to write from soulless POV, because i'm such a feelings-forward writer that for someone to have nothing to feel kinda stumped me.

hmm i think i'm good at a Yearn. i love a dramatic confrontation, but i think i'm best at those quiet moments of introspection/yearning.

action/fight scenes. it always ends up "he punches...he moves...he jumps..."

18. Thoughts on mixed language dialogue?

sure! although it does drive me a little nuts when there's not a translation at the bottom in the notes, or easily highlightable, so i can move the mixed lines into a translate window. i read a fic recently where one of the two main characters/all of his group could only speak a central european language (vague for anonymity), and all of the c. european bits were underlined like a hyperlink which sent you right back to the top of the fic, so trying to highlight the passages and figure out dialogue was very difficult.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

if we're talking FIRST-first, then high school musical when i was seven years old. if we're talking first knowledge that what i was doing was fanfiction, then percy jackson and the olympians.

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

favourite EVER? i've gotta go "house song," just because how proud i am of it. i worked really hard, and i think it comes across. i really love a lot of my fics, though, and am really proud of them!

Hello! If IOL were to get adapted into a TV show (or film I suppose), what are some things you'd be excited for, or things you'd want revealed that we don't get from Elliot's POV?

(also fun fact: my name is Elliot too! It may or may not have been very helpful in getting me to read the book three years ago)

Hi Elliot! A fine name. :)

The silver screen by its nature allows us into more points of view - it’s why my TV tie-ins always had more and briefer PoVs than I usually write, to give the same effect as a moving camera. And In Other Lands is a very limited third by design, since we really have to feel Elliot’s feelings to be in it with him. So immediately a visual, more-on-the-surface medium would open the story up to more reveals - there’s a lot to be done with Serene and Luke, and (for my money) with Captain Woodsinger, Golden, Adara and Myra.

The question also arises what the director’s or showrunner’s vision is, because the showrunner would not be me. There are so many different ways to tell a tale.

If they’re going gritty child soldiers, there’s more to be done with the wars between the different peoples, with dryads and dwarves, and with Delia Winterchild and her lost twin. If they’re going, say, romcom like a fantasy Heartstopper, we’re probably putting Wings In the Morning and In Other Lands in a blender and starting with the characters 15 and up. If they’re doing children’s adventure a la (gayer, weirder) Percy Jackson, we might meet the key three waking up in their respective settings on the day they head off to the Border camp - Serene exiting in a rebellious huff after blazing row with her mother, Luke worried under the weight of loving expectation, Elliot totally clueless and friendless in another world - are these children going to meet? What will hap— Holy SHIT the redhead is being rude! But we’d get it, because we saw where he came from.

The mood of a story is often dictated by what information you parcel out when.

And TV throws curveballs. (Movies less often.) What if the Elliot and Adara actors had lightning-in-a-bottle chemistry? What if Luke and Dale did? I hardly dare imagine. But then again, if it was a She-Ra-style animated series, that would be far less likely. So it’s hard to say what I’d be excited for, as I wouldn’t know what to expect!

I’d be really excited if they did any kind of series, because that’s such a show of faith in my work. And it would mean more job security, and new covers, and more chances for me to get more readers and perhaps most important of all to write more in the In Other Lands world… which (more on this later) I would love to do.

A show is always a wild shot - I’d always try to think of the books as my first concern, as they might do something totally bonkers with an adaptation. (Me, if Luke and Serene fell in romantic love while Elliot died a cowardly weasel’s death: What Show? I Cannot Perceive the Moving Pictures, I Just Do Not Know.) Buuuut, if it ever did happen, I would love to see more of the interdynamics at the Border camp, stuff that flew totally over Elliot’s head. I’d love to have Golden introduced earlier. I’d love to have the harpies in sooner, but as a sinister presence until the big reveal. And of course, channeling my inner Elliot, I’d love to see the mermaids. Throw the whole budget at mermaids!

not gonna elaborate on this with in text citations and the like because I'm tired but I think people who say things like "jason is supposed to be boring! that's the point!" are off the mark. I think you're presuming too much about rick's intentions if you do earnestly believe he was sitting down writing hoo and whispering to himself "I am going to make a guy that bores the audience on Purpose. because amnesia 👍". if that were actually true (and I don't think it is) then that's still a bad writing choice that warrants criticism. I like this new wave of jason appreciation in the 2020s because people have always HATED jason just for not being percy and that's asinine to me - but the actual text of his actual povs has very real writing issues like every other hoo main character does

jason has very interesting character concepts. he has intrigue regarding his life circumstances and internal conflicts. but it's dead horse criticism at this point to say that rick doesn't deliver on his own set-ups in hoo. we still know fuckall about his pre-tlh life, camp jupiter world building is still half-assed, we still barely get to see him be the powerful demigod he's propped up to be because rick took him out of so many fights and refused to substantively let jason rival percy, we still jumped 6 months in the future between tlh and moa, leaving us in the dark about what it looked like for jason to grow attached to chb, which renders his internal conflict between the two camps all the more underwhelming. we still know so little about his relationship and unresolved falling out with reyna. even his relationship with thalia is super disappointing because their first meeting in tlh is 1. not long enough 2. told through leo's pov for some reason??? I love jason and I don't personally find him boring because I see his potential and I think there's plenty of fun you can have using text-based evidence to fill in some of the blanks (and admittedly I think his personality is more subtle, more understated and thus more difficult for people to even understand) but I still shouldn't have so many blanks to fill in. surely he was never supposed to be boring. people overcomplicate this; rick just failed the guy

Some writing tips i use that makes writing less hard

Hope some people might find it helpful idk. Read below.

I always start with dialogues. Arguably, it is the easiest part that advances the plot the most. I write down dialogues with the barest of tags just to indicate who's saying what.

Now, add the tones, movement, and expression into the dialogues tags. Characters gotta deliver the lines somehow and you fill the space between the conversation.

When conversation is happening, internalization must occur. If you're writing from A's pov, and A and B are having a conversation, A gotta listen then reflect on B's words. You don't need to do this after every sentence but it is one of ways you set the pacing of the story. For example, B tells a shocking news to A, A take a moment to absorb the info and think. The internal thought can be from a line to paragraphs and the lenght of it sets the pacing.

Furthermore on the pacing, i personally like to equate the amount of time reader spends on reading to amount of how much they need to linger on the scene. Imagine in a fight scene, you keep the sentences short, to the point, and not complicated to deliver the fast speed of combat. When you lengthen the scene and sentences, you are putting them in a slow motion in midst. So control the pacing with your words.

Now, let's tackle settings and expositions. You can apply the tactics i use in my dialogues, but one golden rule i keep is that i write things readers can't experience first hand. If your characters are playing uno, you don't need to explain the rules in detail. What you need to do is be in the head of your primary character. Don't say winter was cold and snow was falling. You describe how character is feeling the cold on their back, snow is featherlight on their cheeks, etc.

Since we are talking about character pov, let me mention head hopping. Head hopping is where the general pov of chapter changes/hops characters in the midst of the writing. Example: we are reading from A's perspective, and then suddenly, we get a passage on B's inner thoughts, which A should not be aware of. Personally, i find head hopping distasteful. Some people can do it artfully and purposedly, like Stephen King. But if you don't have experience in that style, avoid head hopping like a plague. If the pov is in A, you only show outward emotions and actions of B.

Now you have general direction of the writing, let's add ✨️Character flare✨️. I like to think this is where you, as a writer, really shine and obtain your style. Your character is the essential core of the story, so when you write, the narrative must have their flavor. Percy Jackson series is widely liked because it is so fun to read from his perspective, his humor, and his outlook. If your character is a cop walking down a street, you show the world through their eyes. Are they double-checking dark corners? Or eyeing suspicious looking people? If your character has weird sense of humor, they will probably describe things in obscure details. Go wild with it. If your character is gen z, you can write in their cringy slangs (/j)

Now we have the skeletal of writing done. Till now, don't bother with editing. Only write even if the sentences sound shit. When you're done with base draft, you go back with a critical eye. If you're stuck on a scene, immediately skip. You can come back later with a fresh head space. Perfection is something you should worry about only in the final stage of editing.

Strange tip, but put your font to Comic Sans if you can, you will thank me later. I know it looks so jarring and ugly, but something about it makes the brain go lose on the creativity cork. I was skeptical first too, but it worked on me, and now i have 73k words in 3 months under my belt. *shrug*

an unhinged (and unofficial) dissertation on the pjo fandom

so i don't usually post anything that isn't my-works-related, but i had a...mildly heated discussion with a fellow film student tonight about the pjo show and it's got me thinking. bear with me, we'll be here awhile.

as we all know, the first season of pjo has ended. i've stayed relatively OFF tumblr and other social media during this time, but i know there are a lot of OG fans who are (in their words) "massively disappointed" in the show. most of the complaints i've heard have been during in person conversations though, so this post is mostly going to be referencing real complaints i've heard.

i've been a part of this fandom since i was thirteen. that's nearly eight fucking years of my life that i've devoted to the pjo universe. i have written and consumed YEARS' worth of fanfiction, i have read and reread every book so many times i can quote them forwards and backwards, and i went to the bookstore every single year on the new books' release dates to pick up my copies in-person. this fandom, these characters and this world have brought so much joy to my life, and i don't think i could ever fully articulate that in words. when i think of this series, i genuinely feel nothing but happiness.

but a few years ago—around the time i started college—i started distancing myself from the fandom for one glaring reason. this fandom can be such an...angry place? like, genuinely, i don't know how far it goes back—maybe all the way to the release of HoA, honestly—but i wasn't here pre-HoA, so all i know is that i very much remember how much people hated ToA when it came out.

here i was, having the TIME of my life with apollo and his silly little haikus, and people are going to war over how the series' writing quality has gone to shit and how everything was better before, blah, blah, blah. IN SPITE of everything that series gave us—discussion of the repercussions of child abuse and ptsd, representation of lgbtqa+ characters, and deep psychological messages that really teach young readers, i think, how to better understand themselves and their emotions and deal with them in healthy ways. and it just wasn't fun to be in a fandom where, as soon as you go "hey, did you read the new book?" they scoff and roll their eyes and only want to talk about how terrible it is. (i also missed all the discourse on the sun and the star when it came out—PHENOMENAL read, btw—but i've read some things that lead me to believe that it wasn't well received either, in spite of how lovely it was.)

so...it's dramatic to say i "left" the fandom, but i certainly withdrew from it. deleted my pjo ao3 and tumblr, started over with a different fandom. but the love has always been there, and the show starting really helped spark it fully back to life.

but now, the same thing is happening again, i'm noticing. remember back in the day, when we only had the shitty fucking movies, and we were like "man, ANYTHING would be better than this garbage. literally just give us actors who are the right age and we'll be happy." well, now we have PHENOMENAL kid actors who genuinely are having a good time playing our beloved characters, and instead of supporting them, we're STILL complaining about them not being "portrayed correctly"?

i've talked to so many people who complain that percy is "too smart," which is kind of a bullshit insult to percy's canon character. in the books (at least the first five) we're seeing things ONLY from percy's pov. he's a kid who's struggled with learning disabilities and been told he's an idiot all his life by everyone except his mom—but as others have pointed out way more eloquently than i could, percy is a very intelligent and powerful individual while maintaining his goofy fun personality, which is WHY so many people love him so much. he's complex, and i think they managed to capture that really well in the show even amidst all the changes.

don't get me started on the fucking racism towards leah sava jeffries—i'm honest to gods ashamed that there are racists who call themselves pjo fans. she is so talented, and everything we ever could have hoped for in an on-screen annabeth. ALL of the kids are—there's literally no argument to be had there.

and then, if people aren't complaining about the casting, it's the series' writing. or there's too much exposition. rick is changing too many things. the directors don't know what they're doing. it's not a TRUE book adaptation. (someone said that to me, and i genuinely laughed because i thought they were joking. when the MOVIES exist, they wanted to make that comment about the show.)

are there some things i would change about the show, given the opportunity? god, yes. the set design for the underworld was horrendous. (in my opinion, of course.) but here's the thing. i have spent eight years of my life waiting for this show to happen, and in that time, i've learned a lot about how much goes into successfully producing such a complex series. how much money and time is spent, and how many people have to be on board to make it happen. it's genuinely kind of miraculous that we're even getting this show at all, considering all the ways it could have failed before it even made it out of pre-production.

and i think we, as fans, sometimes forget that we aren't owed this. we don't own the percy jackson franchise. it makes me so sick and tired when authors or artists in any capacity feel like they have to cater their works to the masses, because they know they'll get thrown into the fucking fire if they don't. rick and becky riordan didn't have to got to the trouble of producing this show for us. they chose to—everyone involved chose to—because they wanted to make something fun and enjoyable not only for the fans, but everyone who chose to be a part of it.

do you know how insane it is that, when you read pretty much any interview of pjo bts, everyone talks about how fun the production was? i've been on film sets. they can be ABSOLUTELY miserable when they're not done right. but eight months into production, the kids were still laughing and having a good time, everyone's still giving 100%, they're excited, it's fun. walker was willing to go into a diving tank for a full fucking day in order to get one scene—i know i would never have that kind of dedication, and i bet 99% of you wouldn't either.

i know this has gotten really long-winded, but i've said all of that to say that...i'm kind of tired of fans trying to bring down the show, and more than that, trying to bring down each other for having a good time. as i've said before (many times, i'm sure), i waited eight years for this, and i have had SUCH a fun time watching it. assuming we get a season 2 renewal, there are going to be even more new fans coming in than we've already gotten from season 1, and i want this fandom to be a fun and positive place for them. for all of us. we don't have to miserable and angry all time. we can critique the show, sure—it's not perfect, and it was never going to be—but we have to remember that television is an art form, and that art is subjective even when it involves our favorite characters. and we can accept that and still have a good time, because it's just more fun to have fun, you know?

this fandom has always had so much potential to be the BIGGEST, most supportive and kind and loving fandom. with how much representation this series has, with how much content we've been given, with the SHEER massive number of us...i've always thought we could be a really, really great community. maybe it's impossible to hope that we could be the best fandom on earth, but if nothing else...could we all try to just be a little bit kinder? genuinely, as cheesy as it may sound...it's just nicer when we're nice to each other. and when there's so many real things in the world to be mad about...i would much rather this be a place where we can come to at the end of a long day and just...feel at home. personally, i just think that would be really, really nice.

Comfortable [Hinny; No Voldemort AU] - my all time favorite of mine; 1) because I love the childhood friends to lovers troupe and 2) because I just really love the way the story flowed

Ginny Weasley is a Slut [Hinny, Muggle AU; WIP] - my highest engagement thus far, this one has been really fun to write. I love messing around with the html code and getting the texts/emails into the story. It's been fun, even if I'm currently stuck trying to connect two scenes

Big Brother [Gen; Percy W. POV] - as an only child, sibling relationships have always fascinated me and there is something profoundly sad about Percy's position in the Weasley family to me, him essentially being an only child in the middle of all these really close siblings.

Everything [Hinny; post-battle] - borne out of my frustration at how few post-battle fics depicted Hinny actually leaning on each other to heal because angst is popular. I think this was the second or third fanfic I ever wrote and it was just so satisfying to write.

A Rose in Winter [Hinny; Edwardian Era AU; WIP] - based on a novel of the same name. My first fic where I actually put some time and effort into plotting, mood boards, and actual research for time-period accuracy. I will feel so freaking accomplished when this is complete (which I have 75% written, it just needs some better filler/connecting sequences before I can start posting again)

omg yes, chiron is just very cryptic and i'm always side eyeing him a bit ngl, but like i said before he's a very interesting character beside lupa. for their relationship, i didn't really get lover vibes from them, to me they seemed like those people who are rivals since the beginning and push each other to be better. as if the whole time they danced together it felt like a competition between them to see who would be the biggest star and shine brighter. no sabotage, no dirty games, they both wanted to prove themselves and beat each other fair and square, resulting in some insane chase for perfection which lead them to be the perfect pair for each other, cause only the two of them could match each other's intensity (my reading of the whole thing)

Cryptic is such a good descriptor.

He also so guilty of playing favorites, and Annabeth is one of his favorites. Percy obviously thinks she's great, and I do think she is talented and worthy of her acclaim, but also it was so much fun to write about Annabeth's dancing from the pov of non-nycb dancers. (This was also a way to adapt the canon Roman distaste towards Annabeth's general existence as a daughter of Athena/Minerva.) There's an alternate universe where Lupa becomes the director for NYCB, and in that AU Annabeth might not have a career at NYCB at all.

And I do agree, I don't think they were lovers. I toyed with implying something more romantic, and it didn't feel quite right. It also risked making Lupa seem more like a woman scorned, which is maybe the worst of all possible tropes, instead of just a competent and skilled director.

Lately I haven't been writing much, feeling a little unmotivated for the ship rn ; - ; (totally have not been busy writing a James Potter/Percy Weasley fic with multiple POV's including Harry who is Not Happy with this asdfghj)

but anyway to your thing about omegaverse and control, for the purposes of the story it's not flat out sex pollen approach but yeah, pretty uncontrollable lol, which is fun to write sometimes :p

The most dubcon I think (I think) is the wedding night. So my approach is; Sirius has issues with control, with feeling like he has it, anxiety over losing it ect, but sex has always been the thing to make him feel calm, in his lane yk? So he kinda slips into his "role" during their wedding night while Percy is just there like "hello this is weird and I didn't know half this stuff existed why does this feel nice and why is everything so embarrassing literally kill me"

I'm trying to go for a Percy is very overwhelmed thing. Also! Idk if I've mentioned that they are in an arranged marriage because their ancestors had an agreement (before the Weasley's became known as blood traitors) that one Weasley omega was owed to a Black alpha (yeah, omegas really were treated like property back then haha) now originally I thought okay, percy would have to enter the agreement as soon as he's of age but I just. Ick. I just couldn't do it. It felt gross. I know it's not much better but Percy will be almost 19 at the time of his marriage instead because idk, consenting adult. Might bump it up to 20 tho. Thoughts?

On scents, I love the idea of scenting, as like a platonic or sexual thing. I just find it very intimate, very fun :) but I have no idea how to describe scents T^T like what does it smell like?? Can you describe someones scent as the scent of something else?? Maybe I'm overthinking lol

IDK i'll be honest i just assumed it would be expected to happen as soon as Percy graduated so he'd be like 17 (since he only turns 17 a week or two before starting his 7th year)

But again you should do what makes you comfortable you can always hand wave anything with just "it being how things are done" or "Sirius was throwing a fit and was able to get it pushed back this much but he can't run forever"

for the whole scent thing

this might sound weird but i would just find a perfume/cologne you think works for the character and just steal the scent notes

like obv you can't say like

"She smelled so sweet, like Bath and Body Work Buttercups & Berry Bellini"

but you can just ignore the name and use the notes to just take and change as you see fit that makes it like sound pretty

like for that scent the notes are strawberry purée, buttercup flowers and bubbly prosecco

no but i think it works better then trying to make Prosecco fit if that makes sense

though you could always replace prosecco with like honeysuckle since according to google prosecco smells like honeysuckle

a more masc example is Like Freshwater - Italian bergamot, mountain spring water and oak moss

which again you can take and pick as you please but it gives an easy starting point maybe? and gives you a scent in your head if you have it with you

tbh most people only smell like person but in something like omegaverse you can be more creative with that like they don't have to just smell musky

5: What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?

Oh god, I have so many ideas, most of which I did actually start writing 😂

But finishing them is another story lol, and I have a few that I doubt I’ll ever actually finish and were mostly just fun to think about: odyssey crossovers with Percy Jackson (still has potential but I’m much more interested in my other fics) and Indiana Jones (I had just watched the fifth movie and was thinking it would be fun to write Kassandra killing Nazis), another time travel fix it fic where Brasidas goes back in time after he dies (fun to think about but I already have Rebirth and two other time travel fix it WIPs that have more potential), a series of one shots in the universe of A Miscalculation (most of my ideas are showing up in other fics so why write it twice), and a few other misc ideas.

23: How do you choose where to end a chapter (if you have multi-chapter works)?

As much as a cop out as it sounds, just like whenever I feel like the chapter is done? Which could mean a million different things! For the most part I try to keep things below 10K words, but that doesn’t always happen because I know where I want things to start and where I want things to end but the middle usually ends up getting away from me. With most of my fics I just make a new chapter but some *cough my crack fic cough* are divided by POV so it’s a lot harder to break chapters in two. So that’s why the last three chapters of Not a Malákes Ravenclaw were all over 20K words 😳

all of four of them 😭 one reason i write oneshots is because my interests wanes so fast. you'll be hard pressed to find me in the same hyperfixation for longer than a few months, but i always come back eventually. specifically, RENEGADE'S RETURN (dc dick grayson-centric) would be the WIP imo because i posted that with no intention to finish it. all the other ones i had hopes, but this one . . . no </3

16. WHAT ARE YOUR WRITING STRENGTHS?

prose and characterisation. i think i'm getting pretty good at writing in the pov character's voice. like if you take my house md fic and compare it to . . . i don't know my raven cycle fic, i think the voices are distinct enough even with my same writing style:

HOUSE MD: New Orleans sticks to House’s skin. It reminds him of the Philippines. Long days baking under the sun, oppressive heat blanketing his entire body, sweat pooling at the top of his lip. At least when he was in the Philippines, he wore shorts and a tank top to cool down. Currently, there are about three layers on his chest—undershirt, button-up, blazer—and the AC in this place wheezes and puffs out mildly cold air like an overweight asthmatic kid attempting to run a marathon. THE RAVEN CYCLE: Adam Parrish does not have many things. A bare IKEA mattress, various pieces of makeshift furniture made out of cardboard, and a three-dollar rug he found at a sale. It’s not much, but it’s his and he’s proud of it. Sometimes, though, pride doesn’t discount how hot Virginia summers are. His skin is sticky with it, the light cotton of his shirt clinging to him, restlessness twisting under his skin.

i tried to pick two snippets that are generally about the same thing (summer heat!). at least to Me, this seems different enough in tone, but you know. vibes!

17. WHAT ARE YOUR WRITING WEAKNESSES?

my inability to write long form is genuinely not only a weakness but so so so detrimental to me fr. every fic i have written can EASILY be at least 25k EACH. probably more (definitely more) because i write the moments in between or . . . [sigh] let me say this instead. with longfic, there's usually a moment or a scene that you want to get to, the whole fic is culminating to that scene so you write thousands upon thousands of words to get to where the that scene would make sense in context, yes? well. for Me . . . i just write The Scene™

18. THOUGHTS ON WRITING DIALOGUE IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE?

i'd fuck up google translate so fast (and have), so something like "they speak in spanish" or "'hi, how are you?' they ask in spanish" would be preferable to me.

19. FIRST FANDOM YOU WROTE FOR?

definitely pjo percabeth fic at the age of like . . . ten (10). i posted it on ffnet and have since scrubbed from the internet.

20. FAVOURITE FIC YOU'VE EVER WRITTEN?

funnily enough i created a series which is just fav fics that i've written which sounds so egotistical, but whatever. there are 13 works in there, i believe, and most of them are merlin lol. but in recent memory it has to be a tie between JUDAS KISS and THREAD OF GOLD (both arwen fic !!!) because i experimented with my writing sooooo much there, JUDAS KISS being first person and THREAD OF GOLD being second person. i typically write a close third person pov especially for fic. my prose is wired for that, but it was so fun to try to do that for first and second anddddd i got some banger lines out of it so a win's a win!

The Devil’s Return - What if the Daemon that tried to kidnap Ken wasn’t just after the dark spore inside of him? What if he was actually the reborn form of the Devimon that the original Digidestined had once defeated? What if what he really wanted was revenge on the kid who had been his downfall? What if it was time for T.K. to finally face the monster that’s haunted his nightmares?

The Darkest Part of the Soul - Devimon was destroyed and File Island was safe once again, only things could never be that easy could they? The digital world knew that Devimon was too dangerous to ever be allowed to be reborn, and so it came up with a solution. To store Devimon’s data in the two beings that defeated him in the first place. (Starts in Adventure then time skips to 02)
