PolyMercs Headcanon 2/???
LuluBelle's and Leon's Last Name That was Chosen for Them is Beaufort (Yes, they're kinda named after Teufort since Lulu and Leon were born there duh)
The Mercs Have Now Also Adopted the Last Name for Themselves as Their Own Alternative "Government Surname" to Make it Harder for Their Real Names and Identities to be Tracked (Esp for Spy's and Medic's cases)!
So for Example, Soldier Now Either Goes by Jane Doe-Beufort or Simply Jane Beaufort!

PolyMercs AU Headcanon 1/???
All 8 of the Mercs are pretty much just Hollyhock's parents from Bojack Horseman if you ever needed someone to compare them all to!
(How they all made their "union" official was basically they were all just dating each other by accident after a while but only a few of them (like Medic, Heavy, Solly, and Engie) were able to actually admit it themselves until Medic executed the experiment that got Medic to have LuluBelle, which made them all so close to the point they all just stopped giving a shit and just outright said they were official)
(All Scout said in reaction to the news was how it was so obvious he wasn't surprised at all, plus he already knew Medic is a nutter so yeah)

Rice University lab simulates polymer-cement composites to find strongest, toughest materials -- ScienceDaily
The right mix of hydrogen bonds in polymer and cement composites is critical to making strong, tough and ductile infrastructure material, according to Rice University scientists who want to mimic the mechanics of mother-of-pearl and similar natural composites with synthetic materials.
Seashells made of mother-of-pearl, aka nacre, get their remarkable properties from overlapping micron-sized, mineralized plates held together by a soft matrix. This structure can be approached by cement and polymer composites that may, for instance, make better earthquake-resistant concrete, according to Rouzbeh Shahsavari, an assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering.
The Rice lab ran more than 20 computer simulations of how polymers and cement molecules come together at the nanoscale and what drives their adhesion. The researchers showed that the proximity of oxygen and hydrogen atoms is the critical factor in forming a network of weak hydrogen bonds that connects soft and hard layers. Common polyacrylic acid (PAA) proved best at binding the overlapping layers of cement crystals with an optimal overlap of about 15 nanometers.
“This information is important to make the best synthetic composites,” said Shahsavari, who ran the project with Rice graduate student Navid Sakhavand. “A modern engineering approach to these materials will have a large impact on society, especially as we build new and replace aging infrastructure.”
The lab’s results appear in Applied Physics Letters.
While engineers understand that adding polymers improves cement by blocking the damaging effects of “aggressive” ions that invade its pores, details about how the materials interact at the molecular scale have remained unknown, Shahsavari said. To find out, the researchers modeled composites with PAA as well as polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), both soft matrix materials that have been used to improve cement.
They discovered that the two different oxygen atoms in PAA (as opposed to one in PVA) allowed it to receive and donate ions as it bonded with hydrogen in the crystals of tobermorite cement. Oxygen in PAA had eight ways to bond with hydrogen (six for PVA) and could also participate in salt bridging between the polymer and cement, which makes the bonding network even more complex.
The researchers tested their simulated structures by sliding layers of polymer and cement against each other and found that complexity allowed the bonds between PAA and cement to break and reconnect more frequently as the material was stressed, which significantly increases its toughness, the ability to deform without fracturing. This allowed the researchers to determine the optimum overlap between cement crystals.
“In contrast to the common intuition that hydrogen bonds are weak, when the right number of them — the optimum overlap — cooperate, they provide sufficient connectivity in the composite to confer high strength and high toughness,” Shahsavari said. “From an experimental standpoint, this can be done by carefully tuning and controlling the addition of the polymers with the right molecular weight while controlling cement mineral formation. Indeed, a recent experimental paper by our colleagues showed a proof of concept toward this strategy.”

Oops. @izzybutt, my hand slipped.
When Locus pushed open the door to the apartment, he stopped at the smell of food. Good smelling food. Which meant, of course, that it was Mason that was cooking because Isaac couldn’t boil water.
He kicked the door closed with his boot and turned the corner to the kitchen. Three plates sat at the table, all of them heaped with what looked to be risotto and shrimp carefully stacked on top, a bottle of white wine was chilling in a bucket, and there was a new tablecloth, bright red and obviously new - Isaac would have ruined something so nice by now if it weren’t.
Mason was crouched in front of the oven, peering through the window at whatever was baking inside. He was dressed nicely in dark jeans and a deep violet shirt with the sleeves rolled up but it was covered by the specially made purple apron Isaac had got him for his birthday with “let me “Wu” you” emblazoned on the front. He turned as Locus entered, straightening out of his crouch and smiling at his partner.
“Happy Valentine’s Day,” Mason beamed, sweeping his arm at the table grandly.
Locus hummed, moving forward to lean down and press a kiss to Mason’s temple. “It smells good. These are for you,” he said, holding out the bouquet of flowers he’d picked out for Mason - purple tulips, his favorite if Locus remembered right. Which he did.
Mason sniffed them with a grin as he carried them to the table. “Get me a vase, would you? I’ll put them in the center with Isaac’s.”
Locus reached into the cupboard above the fridge, plucking out the lone vase and filling it with water. Mason stacked his flowers in there and then reached for the second bouquet in Locus’ hands - orange lilies for Isaac - and set those in with the tulips.
“Brightens up the place, I think,” Mason said, looking pleased with his work.
“It looks good. Where’s Isaac?” Locus asked as the buzzer went off for the oven. Mason tugged the door open and pulled out some kind of pie crust.
“Don’t know. I haven’t seen him since this morning when I went out to get groceries for dinner.” He must have noticed Locus’ curious glances at the crust when he turned to the fridge. “It’s going to be a chocolate cream pie. I have to add layers,” Mason said, his voice far too amused at Locus’ look. “It’ll take me a couple of minutes. Call him and tell him to get his boney ass home.”
Locus chuckled but he pulled out his phone and dialed his partner’s number. It rang and then, very quietly, Locus could hear the ringtone Isaac had picked out for him playing from somewhere in the apartment. He and Mason shared a confused look until there was a voice in Locus’ ear.
“Well, happy Valentine’s to you too, Sammy,” Isaac purred over the line.
“Isaac? Are you in the apartment?” Locus asked, already heading for their room with Mason at his heels.
“Maybe.” The word was long, drawn out, and the duo could hear it through the bedroom door as they got closer.
Locus pushed the door open and they looked inside. There, laying across the king bed, was Isaac with his phone pressed to his ear.
He was also naked. Very, very naked.
Their partner hung up with a grin and waggled his fingers at the two in greeting.
“Have you been in here all day?” Mason demanded, looking stunned. “I’ve been home! I’ve been cooking all day and you didn’t come out once?”
“Uh hello? Haven’t you ever heard of a ‘Valentine’s Day surprise’? It’s called a surprise for a reason, Mase. Geez,” Isaac grumbled with a roll of his eyes. “Now, get over here. I’ve been waiting. All. Day.”
Locus chuckled as Mason sputtered and gestured out into the hall. “No! I made dinner, Isaac. It’ll get cold-”
“-Can it be reheated?” Isaac asked, looking unimpressed.
“What? I mean,” Mason frowned, confused by the sudden question, “I guess so-”
“-Good.” Isaac’s face split into a hungry grin. “Then it can wait. Sam? Get the door, yeah?”
Locus rolled his eyes but he felt the corner of his mouth pull up. He pushed the door most of the way closed and wrapped an arm around Mason, leading him towards the bed. Mason protested for another moment before he seemed to realize that it was two against one.
“Fine,” he groaned but there was a smile tugging at his lips as Locus kissed behind his ear and Felix started tugging on his apron, “But you two have to do the dishes afterwards.”
