Right! Okay! Had an epiphany just as I was about to go to sleep about Porsche’s magnificent, badass, hot as FUCK, sexy, show-stopping, heart-rate elevating, brilliant, strategic, breathtaking, jaw dropping, amazing- I could go on and on- Entrance in the Main Family take down scene:

The way time slowed, the way everyone was shocked to see Porsche join the fight. Everybody being shocked for different reasons. It was epic as FUCK and oh damn... did I forget to breathe during this bit? Hella YES. Did it feel like my heart would jump out my ribcage, walk across my bedroom floor and then yeet itself out of my bedroom window when Porsche stepped in looking like this? Hella YES! But that isn’t what I wanted to talk about. (I mean, I always want to talk about Porsche looking like this and I could go on and on for hours about Porsche in this scene alone but, that would be procrastinating, so let’s move on.)

What I wanted to talk about is how this man, THIS MAN RIGHT HERE:

How this beautiful gorgeous man (Damn Kinn you’re so damn fucking lucky!) Sneaked, literally sneaked into the Main Family compound, in the midst of a full on war, so he could harness up to get weapons galore! He wasn’t there when the fight started, and no one freaking knew he was there! Tankhun and Arm would have only seen him on the cameras when he joined the fight! Porsche snuck in like the Ghost of Mafia Present, just so that he could join the fight and protect his man!

And no offence to the other bodyguards, but Porsche here was literally: “You want a job done right, you’ve got to do it yourself. *Grabs a knife. Loads up a machine gun. Packs a smoke grenade*” Porsche showing everyone the Phoenix that he really is; rising from the ashes which is the chaos, to then come into the middle of the fight, Full Fucking Throttle.

KimChay: under the mask

I didn't see this coming, but, uh... here we are.

In this au, Kim and Chay do not meet during the canonical timeline. The Kittisawats still move into the compound, though, and Porsche's photokinetic powers activate/turn Korn to dust during the first Nampheung reveal.

With Kinn's funding/support Porsche starts taking down large swathes of the criminal underworld. He becomes an established Bangkok superhero, known for his charm: The Phoenix.

After his Father's ruthless experimentation activated a dormant gene in Kim's DNA - and therefore his latent psionic powers (telekinesis, pyrokinesis, and teleportation) - he's been donning a special suit built for him by Arm & Co. in secret to help take down Korn's empire. Kinn wants to legitimize the businesses and secure them a real place in the word and Kim wants to help.

So he helps whenever he can by aiding The Phoenix in the guise of his own alter ego, Masked Shadow (he let Khun make it up, okay? it's his own fault for wearing an all-black ensemble and full facial covering).

Chay, still smarting after everyone he loves made enormous and life-changing decisions on his behalf (without once consulting him), decides to take a walk on the wild side.

Shortly after Phoenix and Shadow have cleaned up the neighborhood, they find themselves directly targeted by a new face on the scene. A young, brash, dangerous villain who dresses in bright colors and goes by the nickname 'Songbird'.

His fights with Phoenix are brief and tumultuous, ending with bruises for both parties, but something about his energy with Shadow is different. Like he wants to be caught in some moments and can't live without catching Kim the next.

And Kim has been caught. Several times. He (absolutely, definitely has not) been flustered by the tall, somewhat familiar villain tilting his chin up with one finger and calling him 'naughty' for ruining a well-laid plan.

Okay maybe he gets caught on purpose sometimes.

But he needs to find out who exactly is under that mask. Definitely for justice and no other reasons at all.

the first thing you decided, after taking touya back, was that you weren’t going to let him continue living if it was just for you. you wanted him to live because he knew he deserved to, and because he truly wanted to. you knew that tomorrow wasn’t promised for anyone, and god forbid anything happened to you.

he goes by a fake identity and name now, passing off as quirkless. through friends and connections, you managed to get touya a job at a clinic for kids with “troublesome” quirks. when you’d first let him know about the opportunity, he accepted it just to make you happy. the only “jobs” he’d known growing on the streets were stealing, dealing, and eventually murdering. professions weren’t exactly his forte. but he knew he couldn’t just live out the rest of this life in your apartment, out of your wallet. he wasn’t going to be a burden to you anymore.

though he won’t ever admit it, he loves his job and the kids that he deals with (“gotta make money somehow” he says, but he has a folder of all the drawings and letters they’ve given him). it’s easy to adapt to. he just treats the kids how he wished he’d been treated in that damn household, tells them what he needed to hear. and the kids love him too, he’s like their cool, edgy uncle. he starts getting tattoos and they go WILD every time he comes in with a new one, poking and prodding at them with their grubby hands after he’s taken the plastic off. totally unsanitary but he’s never been the poster guy for health. this is nothing, he thinks.

another perk of having not-charred skin anymore is being able to relish in your touch. now that his nerve endings are functioning he can feel the softness of your hands and your sweet kisses in places other than the apples of his cheeks or his forehead. he becomes obsessed with physical touch, melts into you like an overgrown cat. you also don’t have to worry about hurting him when you get frisky anymore, and he goes absolutely feral when you dig your nails down his back.

obviously touya is kinda past meditating and the 5-4-3-2-1 technique so you look into getting him on medication. sometimes that isn’t enough so he has to find other things to help him cope. in comes kickboxer!touya. working out in general so good for him, gets all the rage out and his endorphins go brrrr afterwards. gets super in the mode to the point it scares other people in the gym sometimes. he finishes up for the day, packs all his stuff up and raises his head to find some people staring. nothing he isn’t used to so he just gives them a curt nod while wiping off his sweat (THINK ABOUT IT HE’S SO HOT).

another thing he loves is driving. once he starts he can’t believe he used to live scampering through the streets on his two brittle legs. it gives him a sense of freedom, and on nights he feels suffocated he just goes out for a ride with the window down, some random band playing on the aux, one hand steering the wheel (HE’S SO HOT). treats his car like it’s a porsche, so he spends quite a lot of time at the mechanic.

there he meets a friendly, super energetic staff member who also thinks touya is the coolest looking guy ever (he is and he’s all yours, it’s crazy. he grows his white hair a little longer, repierces his ears and nose, gets a little meatier bc of the gym. he’s absolutely gorgeous and he’s flabbergasted when men and women come up to him or ogle at him, and even feels a little offended because they don’t realize he has an actual ANGEL waiting for him at home). always greets him loudly and invites him out for a drink after work. he doesn’t drink alcohol, because he’s abiding by the rules of his prescription, but tags along anyway because it’s nice being able to hang out with people freely. he ends up making his own friends and acquaintances over time, and a few through you, but mechanic guy is probably his best friend (besides you), and he won’t admit that it might be because he reminds him a lot of a certain scarred, crazy blonde he used to know. silly fun fact, you once slipped up and called him by his real name when you were hanging out with some of your friends and they were like touya ????? and you had to quickly come up with some bullshit explanation. “touya…. means my love in our… dialect” you lied. they were like okay sounds legit and moved on, fortunately, but you still wake up in a cold sweat at 4 am cringing about it years later.

being able to go out in public is another perk, at least for you. he’s mostly a homebody, perfectly content with lounging around the house with you or being.. physical.. all day. you love going to the theaters to watch all the new horror movies that come out. he claims it’s a waste of money, that you should just wait until you can pirate it, but he secretly loves the comfy reclining chairs and the quality sound system and the ridiculously overpriced snacks. but most of all he loves looking at your happy face as you rant about the movie, swinging your linked hands back and forth as you exit the theaters.

you also go on a lot of road trips so that he can “explore the world” (those were your words. explore the country, he corrects you, but feels guilty when you pout at him about being a debby downer. obviously, but leaving the country is too risky!). but it is nice, passing countrysides, deserts, and other scenic views he never thought he’d be able to see, with you drooling and lightly snoring in the passengers seat, sunset/sunrise prettily coloring face. you rent cute little places for your trips, and explore the towns/cities hand in hand, flaunting your lovey doviness everywhere. he’s lost count of all the old people who’ve stopped to tell you what a lovely couple you two are since he’s settled down with you, but your eyes light up every single time, and he squeezes your hand a little tighter.

there are some things you two do that aren’t so different from when you were with dabi instead of touya. like your love for star gazing together. only instead of having to resort to the rooftop of your old apartment, he now makes the effort to make the back of his car nice and cozy before driving out to a nice hill. you’ll cuddle up to his side while having your deep conversations under the night sky. super wholesome and romantic, and it always ends with him fucking your brains out. you never stop your late night convenience store runs either, the ones where he used to have to cover himself in a mask and a hoodie, waiting for you sitting at the tables they had outside. now he gets to go inside and be super picky and obnoxious about the snacks. he always takes forever. you know the whole point of you and touya starting over was to move on from your old habits, but things like these remind you of how far you’ve come.

touya’s super frugal. when he first started staying at your apartment as dabi, you used to get him those 4-pack shirts and boxers from like, costco, for when he’d sleep over and he doesn’t see why he can’t keep living that way. you have to fight him to treat himself to nice things. he loves using your shampoos and conditioners because they make his hair feel nice and soft. total upgrade from the old crunchiness that all that dye caused. doesn’t steal anymore obviously, but if you see something that you don’t wanna spend a hefty penny on and he notices he’s like…. walmart is giving out FREE supplies to anyone who can outrun security! you deserve everything and anything you want. but you’re not super materialistic either, which is why when he thinks about buying you a ring, he gets you one from a small business on etsy or something instead of some luxury brand. that’s not to say it’s cheap, it’s one of the more expensive ones and it’s gorgeous, a shining blue gemstone in the middle. you cry fat ugly tears when he gives it to you and he considers spending his life savings on five more of them.

so touya lives a normal life now, and he’s able to say that he’s happy, though he doesn’t think he’ll ever be 100% sure of what that means. but he knows for sure that he is so madly in love with you and that he wants to do right by you forever. living like this is more than he deserves, he knows. he’s killed people, and he can never take that back. he lives with that, regrettably, everyday. but he’d do it all over again for you; that’s the dark, honest truth. he knows it’d disappoint you to hear that, so he’ll keep it to himself until death does you part.

Just imagining Porsche laying in bed one morning with Kinn idly tracing the lines of his tattoo. It’s become pretty obvious how much the ink fascinates Kinn, especially now that he knows both the meaning behind it and the truth about Porsche’s mom. Porsche doesn’t even really think too much before he says, “Maybe I should get a tattoo for you too.”

Kinn’s hand stops, and when Porsche looks up he’s surprised by how floored Kinn seems by the idea. “A tattoo for me?” he asks slowly.

Porsche shrugs. “Yeah, like a music note or a little forest skyline or something. Or a magnum revolver,” he adds teasingly.

And that’s how a few days later Porsche ends up on his back with a tattoo artist carefully placing the first drops of ink into the skin right below his sternum in the center of his rib cage. I think he’d go for something simple and a little smaller than the phoenix, narrow so it wouldn’t span more than 3ish inches width-wise. Maybe a tree/mountain, to represent the forest where they really fell in love but also as a bit of a metaphor for the new family tree they’re building together outside of Korn’s influence and manipulations, for themselves, their brothers, and any future generations. Idk but I think that would be nice.

But anyway, my point is Porsche having Kinn metaphorically tattooed permanently on his body would make Kinn’s dick so hard he’d be a literal threat to society. That poor tattoo artist trying to do their job while Kinn, horny mafia prince with an exhibitionist kink, grips Porsche’s thigh and tells him how good he’s being, how pretty he’ll look with Kinn’s mark on him, etc. And the second they’re back in the car Kinn has Porsche in his lap (much to the horror of the bodyguards in the front seat), just kissing around the bandage while Porsche whines and shivers and drops kisses on the top of Kinn’s head.

I just think that would be neat. 😵‍💫

Progression - Chapter 20 Preview

Arm: I'm taking the day off. Sorry. Good luck with the meeting and the dinner later, because I am not attending it either. 

Once Kinn looks at the message, it forces him to do a double take at his phone screen. He can (almost) ignore the fact that Douglas is talking to Porsche. 

Almost. 

The abrupt text really isn't like Arm. He rarely takes days off, likely because he is the most knowledgeable in all aspects of their security. There was no question on who would be replacing Chan. They asked Arm as soon as he began organizing the reconstruction and clean up. Tankhun had thrown a fit, and Arm initially said no because he thought it meant being removed from Tankhun’s team. It took a lot of incentives and adjustments to get him to agree, including letting him stay on Khun’s security team and becoming the co-head of it with Pol, which admittedly made sense since Arm was now the most seasoned out of Khun's guards and Pol was the most frequently scheduled with him. But Kinn has never seen Arm argue so much prior to that, although emotions were running high. While Arm never said as much, he is sure Pete’s abrupt departure upset him. Pa faking his death and getting so many people hurt or killed probably pissed him off more. Since he respects Arm and they could NOT lose more staff, Arm got pretty much every incentive he asked for. He probably knew he had the upperhand. Kinn is relatively sure Khun strongly encouraged Arm to play his hand that way, although Khun never admitted that. When Kinn mentioned Arm suddenly being a pain about it, Khun just smirked. 

Despite all of that, Kinn eventually respected Arm more for the out-of-character stubbornness he showed. But he hasn't experienced a defiant Arm since. 

At least until now.

Kinn: This is sort of sudden, considering you left the conference room without a word. Is everything okay? 

Arm: My preference is to not lie to you about this, so no. It's not okay. I sent the email file with the security upgrade plans and presentation if you wish to present it anyway.

Kinn: We can reschedule the presentation. The guests will be here all week. 

Arm: I will let you know if I feel like I can do it without significant decisions and adjustments being made. 

What the fuck? Why is Arm being an asshole right now? Since there is no active discussion going on and people are just socializing, he takes the time to step away to call him instead. He is actually grateful that Tankhun decided Arm and Pol would keep their phones, even if it was technically special treatment. He's probably right. They are in the know about Namphueng, and Arm is the head of security and surveillance. After everything he has done, he deserves his phone. 

But Arm sends his call to voicemail.

That. Fucker. 

Kinn: This is unprofessional. Call me. 

Arm: I am getting your brother out of the compound. That is more important right now. I apologize for the lack of notice. We should be back late tonight. Pol is staying with Nam and Phoenix. If you feel reprimanding me is called for, you can do so when we get back if you are still up. Or you can do it first thing in the morning. Up to you. 

Kinn grips his phone tightly in his hand, then lets out a steadying breath. If Pa saw these messages, he would require a punishment. He may say it calmly, or even chuckle about Arm’s sudden audacity, but he would still require it. 

He would punish Arm for having his phone without prior authorization too, but Kinn has long decided to let that drop. 

The thought of punishing Arm leaves a bad taste in his mouth. He has spent a lot of time with him the last few months, and he is the one who tracked down Kim. Not only does Kinn respect him, but he has also felt like a good and very reliable friend as of late. The anxiety brought on by the thought of spending the day in close proximity to Douglas actually lessened because he knew he would have people he trusted there. Mainly Porsche, but Arm was in second place, since Arm has been a friend. That's what he thought, at least. 

So more than anything, he feels hurt. 

Kinn: I really don't want to do that. Are you upset with me about something? You are being very short with me, so if you are and want to discuss some things, we can do that tonight or tomorrow. If I did anything to piss you off, I apologize. 

Kinn: I can't think of anything recent, but please let me know if I did.

Kinn: Can you let me know what it is? 

Arm: I have no issues with you. I am sorry if I came off that way. My sudden absence has nothing to do with you, but I need some time to cool off. It's personal, but I will let you know if I am able to talk about it soon. I need to leave for the day, and I want to work on some things tonight when I get back. I will let you know if we can talk about this in the morning. Sorry again. 

Just as Kinn trying to figure out a way to get Arm to call him so he can get a slightly better idea of what's going on, he gets a text from Khun. 

Khun: Leave Arm be. Please. It's my fault he's so worked up. He's protective of me. You know that. We are going on a day trip so we can both get our minds off it.

Kinn: Off of what? 

Khun: If I say, then I am failing to get my mind off of it, aren't I? 🙄 Arm is trying his best though. He even called Pete to see if he wanted to go on the day trip with us! But Pete is already out of town with Vegas and Macau. 😒 I would be more hurt, but he said he would rather be with us. Some family drama is going on back in Sisaket. He said his grandma was fine, so it is probably his annoying and abusive estranged father getting arrested for assault or drugs. 😡😤 His grandma HATES his father, so she won't help her ex son-in-law when he gets in trouble with the law. If Vegas truly loves Pete as much as his Instagram implies, he should slaughter him for everyone’s sake. 

Kinn knows Khun is trying to distract him from the topic at hand. It's glaringly obvious, even if Khun is telling the truth and genuinely wants Vegas to kill Pete’s father. The thing is, it sort of works. Bringing up Vegas tends to distract Kinn from whatever he was talking about. It doesn't distract him in a good way, but it distracts him. 

But that frustration is quelled by the relief of seeing emojis in Khun’s text. The first one didn't have any, and that is usually a sign Khun is anxious and not doing well, as strange of a sign that is. 

Kinn: Can you please convince Arm to meet with me tomorrow morning?

Khun takes longer to answer than Kinn likes, but he does get back to him. 

Khun: We’ll see.

Whatever. 

“Is everything okay?” Porsche asks when Kinn walks in. Kinn doesn't nod, shake his head, or provide any peace of mind. He just opens his texts with Arm and hands his phone over to Porsche.

“What has gotten into him?” Porsche asks, “This isn't like him.” 

“I was hoping you could tell me. He's your friend.” 

Porsche glances at him, “He's becoming yours too. This might be a good sign, at least in some ways. He feels more comfortable being defiant with you.”

“Is defiance something he frequently displays outside of work?” 

“Not really,” Porsche says, “But he has a strong sass streak when he's feeling annoyed.” 

Kinn huffs at that, “Still shouldn't have left.” 

“Oh, come on,” Porsche says quietly, “Maybe something personal happened and he needs some time. It's not the greatest timing, but he's done so much for everyone. I doubt he would just take off without a legitimate reason. Besides, all these men are longtime allies, right? The mutual business connections are beneficial for everyone? There probably isn't a reason to prepare for a significant threat. Right?”

As Kinn looks away and chooses not to answer that, he locks eyes with Douglas. The older man is staring right back at him with a smirk on his face.

How KinnPorsche's Episode 6 Uses The Pastoral Genre To Add Depth And Tragedy

While I have only recently watched the entirety of KinnPorsche, I think I have seen enough fandom content already to fairly confidently say that episode six is often considered one of the best if not THE best episode of the show. It is personally one of my favorite episodes too, along with episode 10. Besides being a major turning point of the series and the true start of Kinn and Porsche's romantic relationship, it also has the excellent symbolism of the cuffs, which physically represent how Kinn had been forcefully keeping Porsche by his side (since Porsche was forced to work as a bodyguard). So, by releasing the cuffs, Porsche was given the freedom to choose to stay by Kinn's side instead of being kept there like a bird (or Phoenix lol) in a cage.

But, while all of these factors have certainly contributed to the long-standing power of episode six, I believe they're not the core reason why people can't stop making gifs, mvs, artworks, fics, and more based on the episode. Something about the episode keeps people coming back to it. A certain tragedy that reverberates throughout the show and makes the season finale more bittersweet than it would've been without it.

Instead of its place within the narrative or its symbolism, the strength of episode six lies within its genre: the pastoral.

For those who don't know, the pastoral genre refers to artworks that represent an idealized version of rural life. In most pastoral works, urban life is seen as a corrupting force, and people can only be healed by going to the countryside and reconnecting with nature. Though this genre is extremely old, plenty of modern works still use this trope. For example, plenty of rom-coms have the protagonist move to a small town from a big city. Besides finding love, the protagonist of these rom-coms is often able to rediscover their true self, which was lost while they were dealing with the stresses, duties, and craziness of the city. Another example of this genre is farming sims like Stardew Valley, which has the player control a farmer that is burnt out by the city and finds a better life in the country.

Although it wasn't their choice, Kinn and Porsche still end up moving from the city to the country in episode six. Similarly to all those rom-com and video game protags, the setting allows the two of them grow closer and fully fall in love. Since their stresses, responsibilities, duties, and roles are left behind in the city, they are both able to reconnect and show their innermost selves. For the first time ever, Kinn and Porsche are truly free, and it shows not only in their carefree happiness but also in their honesty. It's because of the rural setting that Kinn and Porsche finally share their childhood dreams, deepest emotions, and darkest fears.

But, unlike those rom-com protags and video game farmers, Kinn and Porsche cannot stay in the wilderness. One of the most well-known examples of pastoral fiction is Shakespeare's As You Like It, which primarily follows the duchess Rosalind. Similarly to Kinn and then Vegas in later episodes when he moves with Pete to the safe house (which could also be seen as an example of pastoral fiction and also leads to the VegasPete romance), Rosalind and her cousin, Celia, are forced to move out into the countryside after Rosalind's uncle usurps the court. Before leaving, Rosalind meets and becomes infatuated with a poor man named Orlando, who is only poor because his older brother won't give him the money and education he deserves, after he won a fighting tournament (the parallels between Kinn/Rosalind and Porsche/Orlando!!!). While Rosalind is living in the wilderness disguised as a man named Ganymede, Orlando also ends up living there, and the lack of pretenses and social hierarchies leads to the two characters fully falling in love. Like most pastoral narratives, the reprieve from their life in the duchy allows them to find happiness.

But, in the end, this is only a temporary respite. As a twist on the typical tropes associated with this genre, Shakespeare uses As You Like It to point out that the responsibilities left in the city will still remain there even if you leave for a period of time. Eventually, Rosalind and the rest of the court, that also ended up in rural countryside over the course of the play, must go back to the city and resume their duties. Their important political positions make it so they can't stay even if they wanted to.

Like Rosalind, Kinn must go back to the city and resume his duties as the mafia head, and, like Orlando, Porsche must also go back to the city because he wants to stay by Kinn's side. Though the experience has made both the characters stronger (Kinn chooses to trust again and allow more of his inner self to shine through, and Porsche is more resolute and less naive about what's going on around him) and their relationship has truly blossomed, they are never able to reach the same level of carefree happiness that they had while lost in the wilderness because of the pressures around them.

After seeing and experiencing how happy Kinn and Porsche could be, there's a certain note of tragedy that reverberates throughout the entire story that wouldn't have been felt as strongly without the existence of episode six. From the first episode to the last episode, Korn succeeds in keeping Kinn and Porsche in a cage of responsibilities and bloodshed. Even as they have a seemingly fun party on a boat and sweetly pledge their lives to each other at the end of episode 14, it's hard to forget that the main antagonist has won and that our two leads are still trapped by the narrative. Though they are not struggling as much as Kim and Chay, they still have not reached a truly happy ending. This contrasts with Vegas and Pete who have managed to escape the narrative, which is represented in a meta context by literally having their resolution after the credits, and thus have the happiest ending out of the couples.

Though it would still be possible to see Kinn and Porsche's ending as somewhat tragic even without episode six, the episode allows the audience to truly witness everything that Kinn and Porsche had to sacrifice. Everything that they have lost. And that makes episode six an incredibly raw and unforgettable part of the story. (And is probably one of the many reasons why many of us are still hoping for a season two someday lol).

So my headcanon which is absolutely not what is going to happen but which I will enjoy thinking about:

Nampheung killed her husband. Follow me on this.

One thing Kan said that rang true was that his father fostered Nampheung after killing her entire family. And I think that Nampheung knew that or found it out which is why she left. I think her family was the original major clan and got wiped out by the Theerapanyakuls, who were the minor clan at the time. And I think she was preparing to raise her sons, or Porsche at least, to be her revenge and restore her family to their rightful position, what with all the phoenix imagery. I think she was rallying the small gangs who may have harboured some loyalty to her father. I think she was planning to burn the Theerapanyakuls down from the inside. But her husband wanted no part of it, and he wanted his sons to have no part of it. So I think she shot him, and I think both Korn and Kan covered that up. Kan because he loved her, Korn because it suited his purposes.

Another thing that rang true about Kan's version of the story is that he thought Korn had killed them all, Nampheung, Porsche and Chay. So when Porsche turns up as a bodyguard, the right age to be Nampheung's son and Korn is obviously treating him specially, alarm bells go off. But he also knows his brother is not above manipulating him, so he tasks Vegas with keeping an eye on him. As to why Korn didn't kill them all...that's the part that eludes me. Maybe Nampheung has some kind of insurance that means he can't.

Korn abandoned the boys, because he didn't want them in the mafia life, didn't want anybody to know they still existed, because THEY ARE THE RIGHTFUL HEIRS, the Princes in the Tower of this Richard III-esque tale. He left them to Arthee so he always knew what they were doing. He probably gave Arthee enough money to take care of them, but he gambled it all away, all the time. He imprisons Nampheung because he can't kill her. Maybe he drugs her up, messes with her mind, maybe she's pretending to have lost it in captivity and is just biding her time. And it would have stayed that way.

But then Kinn runs into Porsche at the back of Yok's bar.

This is when Korn decided to go for double the security. Arthee has become a liability. He's making threats because Korn turned off the tap and he's in real trouble now. Porsche on the other hand, well he can be useful it seems. So he'll bring Porsche in. He'll make Porsche loyal to him, and he'll control what he knows. Porsche falling in love with Kinn...well that was a useful bonus. Kinn falling in love as well, less ideal, but he could use it.

See, Kan has been stirring. He's fed up of being #2. With his son, he's making some moves: the Italians, the Yakuza. He's got a mole inside the main house feeding him information. He's turning the smaller gangs to his side. He's preparing a coup. Korn sees the signs, this is what his own father did when he took over. And he won't have it. He needs a minor clan leader who isn't ambitious, who is loyal, who won't step out of line and will keep the smaller gangs in line too. Who better for that than Porsche, who will never go against Kinn, who was always ambivalent about the mafia life, whose presumed dead mother he has 'kept safe' all these years and so will be grateful to him. Porsche is manageable, Porsche is controllable, Porsche will follow orders and keep things running smoothly. And Porsche will never try to take the throne for himself.

But Nampheung has her own plans. She's playing a long game. Her family WILL take back what was theirs, by any means necessary. Korn has finally made a mistake, bringing Porsche to her. She need only bide her time a little longer...

But she doesn't know about Kim and Chay. Nobody knows about Kim and Chay. Both Korn and Nampheung are factoring in a lot of things, but neither is factoring in that those two can't be controlled. Chay has his own ideas and desires and keeps secrets, and because of how Kim feels about Chay, Korn has probably lost control of him, and he's the most dangerous man in this tale. In addition, Vegas might be down but he's not out. He has a talent for this business, SEVERAL grudges against Korn, and Pete by his side who would burn down the world for him.

Look the setup is juicy is all I'm saying.

Fire, Water and Smoke Imagery in ep 14

Over 8000 words of thoughts on the fire and water imagery in this series and now we're finally here... honestly I have spent far too many hours of my life thinking about swimming pools and cigarettes, I'll be glad for a break 😂 (actually no I won't, I'm gonna miss doing these so much!)

Let's get into it.

A callback to Porsche's phoenix, and a visual of the memory he was telling Kinn about in episode 4: to grow up and become the phoenix, and take care of himself and Chay. Porsche has held onto the freedom of being true to himself throughout, and has shown that same freedom to Kinn, allowing him to become his full self. By the end of the episode Porsche is reborn into a new version of himself, one that rules by Kinn's side: freed by their love for each other.

This shot of Gun/Kun/Kan victory smoking is almost perfectly match cut with Porsche tipping his head back in distress in the previous scene. It's a clear indication and contrast of how they are both feeling—Porsche falling apart because he has no idea what's going on or what the truth is, and Gun sitting happy in his pre-conceived victory.

Gosh RIP Daddy Chan!!! Going out in style still doing his duty to the end by warning Kinn that the minor family were coming, and lighting up a smoke to see him over to the other side. The ultimate comfort cigarette.

The pool that Vegas "dies" next to is yet another new swimming pool in the main family complex. I'm actually really glad that they didn't go with the main central one, as too much of its meaning is caught up in Korn and Kinn, and instead gave VP their own pool. They're covered in the reflections from the pool for almost all of their dialogue, and when Vegas falls (depending on which shot you look at) he's almost in the water. I've often posited that water/swimming pools have to do with the main family, and I wonder if this isn't something about the inescapability of Vegas' demise while still in that shadow—or watery reflection—of that main family.

I don't have masses of thoughts on Kim smoking but as it is my duty to report each time a character does—he's clearly thinking of Chay.

Ahhh, my beautiful episode 1 callback. The same boat. The same river. The same section of river and buildings in the background. KP on equal footing. The lights on the water throwing back to their first kiss.

And still surrounded by the water. Still surrounded by the huge mafia expanse of it. More in the heart of it, in fact, than ever. And I have to be honest—I wasn't sure it was going to end up like this. There is a part of me that wonders (hopes?) that if we do get a s2, they will be able to get away from that huge expanse of still, reflective water—get away from the leadership of it all and experience some of the quiet, loving life together that they have both dreamed of.

But is true freedom like that fully attainable, for people with so much in their pasts and such deep devotion to their families? Right now, I don't think it matters, because they have each other. They have promised themselves to each other. Mafia bosses or not, that's never going to change, and now matter where they are or how much water is surrounding them, they'll be holding on tight to each other.

And so we end up here: with the victor, and his two poor fish, kept in separate tanks trying to fight each other till someone ends up dead. Korn is still very much playing the long game. He is still very much scheming. And while he may be sitting pretty for now, I don't think the Porsche we know and love is going to allow him to remain there for long... especially not if Nampheung is the final key to the puzzle.

KinnPorsche Season 2. The Girls.

Porsche’s mom is a member of the all-female mafia gang from a neighboring rival area. After her mother, the leader, was shot - she is adopted (in that passive-aggressive prison of war way) into the Major Family. She swears vengeance and bides her time. After her husband discovers her secret interactions with the girl mafia - he calls in the foster brothers to set her straight (pun intended?), threatening to take the boys and leave her to her life of crime. She shoots him - and is locked away.

… is lesbian mafia!

No women on my watch, thank you.

Now crazy pants is back and ready to topple her captors empire. She’ll attempt to use her sons to help her in this goal… and track down Korn for vengeance. Like a phoenix riding from the mf ashes!

There will be all kinds of fun new lady characters with lots of sexy romances as we explore the new mafia gang.

Erika will be back as well - she was obviously a mole placed to keep an eye out.

Maybe even hot daddy main bodyguard of Korn…? Who turns out to be Chay’s real dad?!

Tankhun will get his romance, hopefully with some hot trans man.

Yok gets wooed by a butch lesbian with suspenders who loves to drink.

Chay becomes best friends with an adorable baby dyke who is torn between being a badass ninja mafia leader heir or a theater major. She’ll fall in love with a young police lady and they’ll have a tumultuous relationship. The police lady will, of course, ultimately leave the force and become the right hand woman of her rising ninja girlfriend - who still does local theater on the side and practices her lines with her bodyguards.

The lesbian mafia and the gay mafia will have an alliance in the end, but just as in real life they will prefer to keep their borders closed and their business separated. ;) like the two beta fish Korn keeps around… they are the same but they prefer to have their own stomping grounds. And it’s the rest of the alphabet mafia (all the other letters after LG… the BTQIA+) that keep the peace and act as the glue of the community.

🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?

Any time a character who is quiet by nature or has very little dialogue chooses to stay quiet. There are moments I write Kim as saying nothing and I want him to say things but it canonically doesn't make sense for him to do that, so it makes me frustrated and upset. I want that boy to talk.

🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.

The visual passing of time is a reoccurring symbol that I usually include. In I'll Ignite For You, Kim's always aware of the clock and then the inevitable note that has Porchay's departing flight information on it. Another common trope is putting characters in small spaces that force them to interact. In II4Y, it's a small studio apartment. In And if You Don't Believe Me..., it's Kim's bathroom. In my half abandoned Merlin fic, it's Merlin's office. It's cruel but I love it.

⛔ Do you have a fic you started, but scrapped?

Ahhh so many, especially for KP/Merlin. I had one with Porsche being a cam star when he becomes a bodyguard for Kinn. As in, he he puts on a mask, calls himself the Phoenix (he's always rising, badumtiss) and puts on sexual shows for his viewers. He gets hired as a bodyguard, and Kinn has previously watched his shows, finds out who he is, and a game of cat/mouse/blackmail goes from there. However, I struggle with writing Kinn and Porsche's voices... so that's been tabled for quite some time now.

But I don't like calling them scraps; they're more in limbo WIPs. One day... confidence will come hah.

For KP week Day 2 have some Kittisawat family reunion feels! Featuring Chay just wanting everyone to be happy despite his new found trust issues (tm)

He knew Porsche did too, even if he never said it and always seemed happy to just be there. He was old enough to remember losing her after all. Chay only had glimpses he wasn’t sure were memory or built from stories. The memory of meeting her for the first time, really meeting her, would always be stronger. Porsche couldn’t understand it.

No matter how lonely he felt, the pull to spend time with his family was always stronger. He’d jump through any hoops Khun Korn, his uncle, wanted them to. He’d do anything because, after all, they were family and spending time with Porsche acting like more of a kid than him and watching his mom paint felt more normal than anything in the past year had. It was saying something considering it wasn’t exactly normal for people to come back to life.

She liked it when he sang, Chay thought. It was the closest she got to smiling. So Chay always sang. Week after week on their allowed visits Chay found new songs to sing her. He found songs from class and tried songs from their childhood. Porsche started looking forward to his little recitals, always encouraging him. Chay shook off the feeling of comfort, knowing who Porsche had become, knowing who he would become once they left this room.

The feeling was so strange, the room was like a living museum of what he lost but it was the closest to home he’d ever felt. It was like he had his family again, if only for a little bit. Only about an hour once a week, but at least for that time Chay had them.

Sure, he had his college friends and a few friends from before. They’d become a refuge for him, a new family when he couldn’t turn to his old one. The more time passed, the more he understood Kim’s cool distance. Each second he dreaded becoming like him, every morning he pushed down the frantic urge to run into his arms. His new family was the only thing holding him back. Chay knew he needed to build a life outside the one Porsche was building, for survival, but for now they could go back to the life they left behind when they were children through necessity.

Today, Chay was determined to make his mom smile. She’d been working on a piece for a month, two phoenixes mid-flight and one in a tree, he knew she’d finish it soon and she always looked so sad reviewing her work. One of Khun Korn’s guards would always come in with water or tea to calm her, and it worked, but Chay hated the look she had after. Today, he was determined to make her happy about her work.

He'd mastered a lullaby she’d sung to Porsche and him when they were little. Apparently it was her favorite song, it wasn’t soft a like a normal lullaby but a happy song their mom had loved. One from when she had been in university. It was perfect, and Chay hoped it would bring her happy memories even if she couldn’t speak of them.

Porsche had no idea what he was working on either, Chay trying to keep some fun secrets from his big brother. If he wasn’t good at getting information before, his new title had made Porsche the best investigator Chay had ever met. It was how Chay knew he still cared, and he clung to it even if it annoyed him. Sometimes Chay wanted to keep a crush or embarrassing story to himself. The only worse offender was Tankhun who seemed to just know everything.

Chay’s family, for all their lies, apparently didn’t like secrets.

The nice thing was, with no secrets left, the only thing that remained was Chay. He was forced to be himself, and knew he could.

So after the obligatory unreturned hug Chay settled into the routine. The guard had informed them she hadn’t eaten the day before. Each day she was getting more fragile and Chay feared losing her again. Knowing his options, Chay tried to help make her happy. He’d bring whatever comfort he could.

Quickly, he’d started playing guitar while his mom finished her painting and his brother enjoying the two of them being in the same place. It was a slow song, but sweet. A few chords in his mom dropped the brush, all attention on him.

Gulping, Chay continued. This was the most he’d seen behind her eyes, the first time she’d deliberately looked him in the eye. He wasn’t giving this up for the world.

Willing love into his words, Chay sang the chorus thinking of all the times he leant on Porsche’s shoulder or imagined what guidance she would give him, dreaming of all the memories they could make in the future. There was so much hope it took over completely, but instead of swallowing him, washed him safely ashore.

Drawing out the last notes, the song ended and Chay looked up from where he’d been focusing on the chords. There were tears in his mom’s eyes. She was shaking. Chay froze.

“Por…chay…” It sounded more like a question and somewhat unreal, like looking in a funhouse mirror, distinguishable but distorted. But it was her voice. His mom had spoken his name, and it had brought new light into Chay’s heart.

“Mae?” He bolted up not wanting to miss the moment.

“Porchay?” Her voice was dry like it hadn’t been used in years, but stronger this time.

Chay was in tears hugging her and shaking, Porsche was sobbing holding them both.

“That’s my family.” His mom stared at the painting.

“Mae?” Chay and Porsche sobbed more than said.

“We’re here.”

“Porsche? Porchay? My sons?” She reached out and grabbed their hands, tethering herself to reality.

The unsettled feeling in Porchay’s stomach faded, knowing however far away family may be they can always be pulled back closer than before. He knew family meant many things, and he was lucky to have the ones he did. He was safe, he’d make sure they felt the same.

Do you think vegas will make it in the end? I know they said season 2, but do you think maybe they said that so as to distract us from thinking this? I'm getting stressed, i want vegaspete to both be here..do you think vegas saying things like making merit to meet in the next lifetime or eat so you can have strength to kill me later on can be considered forshadowing? Also, build, on the live conference thing said something about mile/kinn slapping him, so we are hopefully getting that, in your opinion, what do you think would cause the slap? Will it be because pete chooses vegas and defends him? Or something else entirely

Sorry for the late reply. Let's get into this. Normally I don't promote things but anon if you haven't yet we discuss all of this and more on a 8 hour twitter space breaking down things all things episode 11 and VegasPete. Vegas will be one of the characters that will be in the danger zone essentially. his story depends on where the directors and writers want to stop at before they deal with him in season 2. So it's hard to explain to you what could happen with him. It's either he will be seen as dead by us the audience with a cliff hanger waiting for his rebirth to happen in the next season or if they will tackle his rebirth in this season as they have been foreshadowing to both him dying and being awake, or a side of him dying and being reborn anew into something of good. The next life conversation is part of these foreshadowings essentially the religion believes in making merits for your next wife 'washing' away your bad karma, your evil deeds, and those you hurt and getting repentance and mercy to become someone else. This isn't a scary foreshadowing because it's a positive way to view *dea*th, it is about it being a tool to bring purpose and a new happy peaceful beginning again. Deth (i'm gonna have to spell it like this so i don't get flagged) in KP is a good thing, Porsche is connected to this with the phoenix he needs Deth to be able to reborn into the queen of the chessboard, so does Vegas who is also his queen of his chessboard, both queens have to become something new for their story to take place and for their loved ones to be protected and happy. There has been so many, like so many foreshadowings for VP with deth and rebirth, I just even got a new one from a fan, but I feel confident for now they are tackling and keeping this with Vegas, we will see him go through some type of deth but they'll hopefully talk or hint at his rebirth too.

As for Build getting slapped. I can see Kinn being betrayed by Pete but a slap feels out of order since Kinn already left Pete and forgot about him. I feel like the show wants KInn to make mistakes but they don't want him hated, they've rewritten him to fit that, so slapping Pete when it could make him look heartless and extra I don't think I believe that but then where else or what other reason would Mile have for slapping Build? So yeah I get your point, Kinn slapping Pete upon him admitting he wants to leave or betrays them seems again cruel, is there a chance Pete may ask for the slap, for a punishment because his head isn't focused on his work? Is there a chance Pete may ask Kinn to do that? Yeah that's what I would lean into more than just cruelly slapping him cause youre butthurt he betrayed you. But like I said I'm uncertain about this statement, however Build did say it and it wasn't an error so Mile must have slapped him and made him realise Pete is a masochist. Even the actor is saying it.

Thanks anon! there's a lot to think about when analysing VegasPete dynamics and boy did the show go all out for it. They have spent so much energy and effort thinking and making these two be filled with depth and symbolisms and things to foreshadow and explain the psyche behind their love story. For that I truly want to trust this team and see what they do with the ending. They are changing the novel's ending so this analysis is not a spoiler, but more just on what the show is giving and it is deth and rebirth with VP. Who will go? who will need to be rebirthed? how will they show it in the story narrative? that's what we have 3 episodes to figure out. Thanks again have a great day <3

I really love how you write pets in Progression. VegasPete got their cats and Nam has Phoenix. Now Chay found love of his life, Koda:D. I really hope Kim will meet with his cat soon. I wonder about the pet dynamic now. Will Phoenix accept Koda or is he already jealous? What will Phoenix and Koda do once Kim's soulmate cat appears? I adore this fic and the way you incorporated pets into it. Arm should get Khun new fish too. Now KinnPorsche should get some pet as well. Maybe bunny (I can't get that photoshoot picture of Mile with white bunny out of my head for some reason). So Kinn would look really cute with bunny and Porsche would match its energy.

I'm so glad you like the pets! I know we only see them occasionally, but Vegas and Khun are canonically animal lovers to some extent, and Kim might be too, considering he has included cats in multiple music videos. It felt important to add them to the lives of the ensemble. 😃

I think it would be great if each character (or couple) got a pet before the story's end. I will say Kim's kitty is going to make her first official appearance in the next couple of chapters, and she does have kittens. So they will need to find homes - preferably with close friends or people living in the compound.

Khun does still have the fish Kinn promised him and purchased for him after Elizabeth and Sebastian died. While they don't fill the hole his two beloved carp left, he does still find solace feeding the fish and spending time with them. In fact, Khun, Arm, and Pol would take Nam on walks around the grounds to go feed them and sit by the pond. 🙂

Oooh, a bunny for Kinn could be fun! I never thought about that possibility for him. During chapter 27, I do mention him having a bird as a kid, one who belonged to his maternal grandmother he inherited and happened to die suddenly of old age the day Kinn was assaulted by Douglas. 😔 I thought of maybe him and Nam bonding over their love of birds and building a nice and secure enclosure to get a couple.

As for the current pets, I think the dynamics are as follows:

Phoenix - for the most part - is very loyal to Nam. He can be extremely playful due to his age, but is an old soul. He is younger than Koda, but feels like he is much wiser. He doesn't hate him, but he is still adjusting to not being the only furbaby and sometimes finds Koda to be a bit goofy and mindless. However, they are slowly bonding and Koda really wants to be his friend when he's not focused on his new dads. Koda is the type of dog who needs regular cuddles, interaction, and care. He wants to be friends with everyone. While Phoenix is friendly as well, there is a more noticeable hierarchy in his favorite people, with Nam being on the first tier, Kim and Chay being on the second tier, Porsche being on the third (although he is on thin ice after saying Koda is more fun than him), and Khun, Arm, Kinn, and Pol being on the fourth tiers. He is friendly acquaintances with the cousins now that he's made a couple of trips to see them, and will become closer with Arm's sisters and nieces once the move in.

Koda definitely ranks Chay as his highest friend, with Kim being a close second. Porsche and Nam rank next, and the other allies in and outside the compound are those he also loves dearly, but those are his top four. He also enjoys visiting several guards and is actually okay with Korn, but doesn't love the tension that seems to pop up whenever he enters a room.

I think Kim's cat and Phoenix might already know each other. They were in the same park. I don't think he is her child, but he might be a nephew. If she moves into the compound, they will become close. I think she will be iffy around the dog first, but will take Kim's, word for it when he tells her she can trust him and they will become good friends. 🩵

As for Pittsburgh & Valencia (VP's cats) - while full blooded siblings from the same litter - Valencia definitely manipulates Pittsburgh for her own amusement and gain sometimes. She loves him, but she also takes after one of her human fathers. Vegas is also the one she is more drawn towards. Pittsburgh is a loveable and playful boy who loves everyone, but is closer with Pete. He really enjoys when Phoenix, Koda, and Lucy (Fern's dog) visit, while Valencia hangs back more. Macau thinks Valencia is sort of a bitch and Pittsburgh is sort of a doofus, but loves them both equally lol.

KinnPorsche Sex Pistols (the manga) AU

With Kinn being like a panther or something like that, and Porsche being a regular house cat who did the backwards evolution thing into a phoenix

Maybe when they get lost in the mountains

And so, all of a sudden, the forbidden relationship between heir and bodyguard would become the very much wanted relationship between heir and literal mythological being who can give him these super special half cat-half bird babies, and of course Korn wouldn't pass on that opportunity

I don't know what the other couples could be.... Pete a normal human, and Vegas probably something reptilian, like a constrictor or something like that (another thing his dad hates him for, the Theerapanyakuns are all felines, and he got the reptile genes from his mom)

Chay would be a cat like Porsche, and Kim another kind of big cat like Kinn

The story would be Porsche just denying he's changed at all even when he has people throwing themselves at him left and right, and Kinn being torn between the relationship he does want with Porsche and the one his dad wants him to have. In the end there would still be mpreg, but it would be on Porsche’s terms only

Points of reference for my story. I had a comment asking me about how I envision the instincts for Kinn and Porsche so proceed with spoilery caution.

I didn't have specific points of reference I used when I was plotting but I grew up on mythology stories so I know a lot about the different types of dragons etc. there are, so I knew right away that I wanted Kinn's dragon to be an Asian/Chinese style dragon without wings for reasons that become clearer later.

This photo is the closest one I could find to what I imagine when I mentally designed it in my head.

Without the wings obviously, and with its golden eyes and almost shimmery monochromatic fish scales because they also exist on Kinn's back as an almost like for like match. They fit more seamlessly (no black at all) on Kinn's human skin because he's so pale.

I wanted Kinn's dragon to look powerful but also majestic. And yeah, it looks like that but it has a bit of the goofy nightwing in it. It's a salty boy.

Porsche was a bit harder because people have wide ranging ideas about phoenixes, so again, I sketched out in my mind based on the many books I've read the bits I wanted my design to have.

This is a tattoo and this is the closest I could find because Porsche's phoenix has blue coloring as well and I wanted it to have a similar feel to his tattoo because of...reasons.

So in my headcanon, down from its throat, breast and belly is royal blue and so is the top edge of its wing span, filtering into its wings and the strands of its tail are a mix of red and blue.

It isn't wholly traditional but it's to match that Porsche's fire is a stronger fire than a traditional orange flame (his fire as we know is blue and therefore hotter).

I hope that helps explain a bit of my design/plot process.
