I'm so fed up seeing videos about "the downfall of mcyt" or "mcyt history" and then the creator only mentions DSMP and maybe a few youtubers they watched. Like... there. are. so. many. creators. who. counted. or. count. as. mcyt. Here are my thoughts.

There are so, so many who counted, and still so many who count. And yeah, DSMP is an important part of MCYT history, but it's so recent in comparison. Like. Minecraft is a cockroach, it will go through so much shit and still be alive and active. Yes, there are the names who bring or brought down the name of MCYT, but in comparison they've always been such a small part of the community. They need to be remembered for their bad actions, or illegal in some cases, but defining the community by them is not good. Nor is just using one fucking smp.

I have watched, or attempted to watch, those types of videos on the history or the downfall etc., and I always complain internally about it. THERE ARE SO MANY PROMINENT MINECRAFT CONTENT CREATORS THAT FUCKING MADE CONTENT. Some don't make Mc (minecraft) content anymore or they rarely do but it doesn't mean they shouldn't be mentioned. (Yes I know, it's an impossible task to talk about all of them, but mentioning three or four as "the og mcyters" or "the old popular mcyters" just angers me)

DSMP I would say helped with the mc resurgence, but I can say similar to SMP live and SMP earth. I count SMP live as pretty important since I think people started watching the streams and videos from that smp and when DSMP happened people treated the content the same and watched it a lot. People started watching again, then with the boom of content in the covid lockdown people watched more. It wasn't just DSMP though.

Listen if you want to do a video about how DSMP affected you or the minecraft community, sure yeah that's a video to make. If you want to do a video on a specific few ytbers who you watched and how they affected the community yeah sure that's a video to make. To say "these are the three main" that's for you. To you they were the main three. To make the video of "all of mcyt history and mc as a whole" and mention 3 people......... and then DSMP.................... I don't understand you.

I've been a MCYT fan for years and years. As a child and as an adult. From E for everyone videos to watching videos that fucked with my innocence and just exposed me to shit I shouldn't have been watching at the time. Year after year watching different types of videos and different creators. Supporting people and finding out I shouldn't, and supporting people and them being good people. To challenge videos, parkour, adventure maps, droppers, role playing, role playing, let's plays, tutorials, modded content, horror content, hide and seek. So many different types of content exist for mc, and I've been a watcher for a lot of it.

DSMP should not define MCYT. There is too many people who have made content for me to just accept that.

Hold people accountable for their actions, do not define a large community by a few people, and if you want to talk about your favorites affect in the community go right ahead but please don't call them the most popular or most important. Some people might never of heard of them. (I am thinking of the do you know this mcyt blog)

Grian, Mumbo, Scar, Ren, Doc, Bdubs, Keralis, Wels, Etho, Beef, Xisuma and Gem. Dream, George, Sapnap, Fundy, Tommy, Tubbo, Wilbur, Ranboo, Skeppy, Bad, Quackity and Karl. Anyone else, I might have a bad time with.

The others are, Stampy and Squid (got me into Yt and mc in the first place), Ash before he left, FavremySabre, 09sharkboy, Moosecraft, Unspeakablegaming, Prestonplays and Logdotzip too.

ill start from the minecraft ccs ive watched first to recent and wether i still watch them or not and how much i watched them

2017-2018 maybe even 2016

popularmmos, i used to watch their lucky block races and modded mc with natural disasters those type of videos. i do not watch them anymore and i dont think ive ever like fixated much on them (1)

prestonplays, i forgot what type of videos he made but i think i remember races and that i watched him

same with unspeakable

(1) but i do remember watching them everytime i went to the library to use the computers and i remember this vividly because someone asked me what i was watching once and i said popular em oh em z and spelled it wrong so yeah

2018-2020

skeppy, i watched his 100 kids video and i think it was either him or technoblade that introduced me to the dreamsmp, i think i binged all his i trap 100 kids vids and some trolling vids after early 2020 i think i stopped watching him cause of the a6d drama??? i dont remember

2020-2021

dsmp ccs like dream/tommy/ranboo/techno ect, i saw some dsmp vids on my fyp and i ended up in the dsmp i dont think ive hardcore binged all the lore vids or streams but kinda casually. i am not longer in the dsmp due to lost interest

bedwars ccs, like purpled, wallybear, astellic, gamerboy80 this phase lasted kinda short, for a couple of months i was super invested in their vids on bedwars and i even tried out bedwars for myself but i just was not good at it xd i still watch some of their vids but usually only when they pop up on my recs and i have nothing else to watch

2019-2021

wadzee, i was one of his earlier watchers of his hardcore series when he had like 50k subs i think i dont remember but i was subbed to him and watched all his hardcore series vids but after a while lost interest and unsubbed i do remember the very start of his melon farm though :d

2020-

wilbursoot and his minecraft but videos and his minecraft but i get a random block every some interval idk and his kahoot and geoguessr vids i watched some of his dsmp content but i just didnt really like it so i stopped watching him for a while now thought after his break i still keep up w his vids

techno, ive watched his vids before he joined dsmp im pretty sure but the dsmp made me more invested into his content and i still keep up with his vids

2022-

hermitcraft ccs!! ive been interested in them for a while being around 2 months and they are my current hyperfixation ccs i mainly watch grian, mumbo, etho, bdouble0, scar, zedaph and some others occasionally but them mainly :)

It's so weird as a HC/3L fan to see like. "DNI MCYT" when they actually mean "this very specific YT'er and his fans". Like, not even touching Dream-related controversies... You're gonna put people like TFC, an old man who just likes to strip mine, or Stressmonster, sweetheart extraordinaire, indirectly on a DNI just because a specific SMP has people you don't like? And that's just the two biggest SMPs! The diversity of MCYT is astounding and it's silly putting it in a DNI as a whole.

as a dsmp, i understand it might be both confusing and frustrating. i know there's some crossover sometimes because some of the dsmp streamers are friends/know the HC/3L crowd (scottsmajor, grian, mumbo jumbo, etc...)

it just shows how they honestly don't care enough to research or put the effort in finding mcyts not associated with the dreamsmp. just like they don't care about spreading misinformation or the claims they make up, they just won't hesitate or think their claims through and just put the "mcyt dni" without thinking it through that there are literally HUNDREDS of mcyts they are grouping in with the people they "believe" are bad. they just believe all of them are bad, grouping that entire term together despite its diversity, which makes me wonder where the (reasonable, hopefully, but probably not) line they're gonna make is.
