Some positive vibes for Sunday.
There's been a lot of discussion lately about this fandom so I just wanted to spread some positivity to everyone in the fandom.
Thank you to the people who still post even after a full year in the fandom when you didn't have to.
Thank you to the people who still write fanfictions, headcanons, still take and post screenshots no matter how long it takes, or how much editing or proofreading goes into it.
Thank you to the people who keep posting silly things about Hogwarts legacy.
Thank you to the people who don't get a lot of interaction but still have a lot of good content. I appreciate you very much. :)
Thank you to the people who post about underrated characters.
Thank you to everyone in this fandom that has made it worth while. It's been a bit of a bumpy ride but we're still here! Love you all so much and thank you! ❤️❤️

If I remember correctly, you can find a letter from Black addressed to the teachers. They asked for the option to have a little get-together. I don’t want to go into detail about how restrictive Black’s reply was but instead, talk about how the teachers get along and--just like students--have little gatherings; probably on the upper floors of The Three Broomsticks if Black isn’t permitting happenings within Hogwarts (which seems impossible, he cannot possibly have his eyes on them all the time, he naps every hour).
And let me tell you, I bet it gets *wild*.
Professor Fig can hold his drink. He, Professor Ronen and Madam Kogawa will engage in little drinking games (Ronen will fall asleep after his second butterbeer). It’s like their own personal teacher-bingo. Will Professor Onai worry about Natsai again and leave early? Will she talk about dark things to come? Bottoms up!
Professor Shah and Howin will talk about the particular importance of the night sky not only for humans but for beasts as well (especially mooncalves and their magical dances), and forget everything around them.
Professor Binns rambles on and on about how every beam in the room has a particular history and nobody listens to him. He doesn’t seem to mind.
Professor Hecat, Garlick and Sharp are the gossip trio. Hecat hears all kinds of things about their students and she will absolutely ‘share with the class’. Sharp will try to predict the profession students might end up in while Garlick and Hecat take bets on their student’s love life. It’s only after at least half a bottle of firewhisky that Sharp will join in with frighteningly accurate guesses.

Take a little weekend break for Hogwarts Legacy and, what can I say... Beautiful views, architecture, locations and uhh… the rapidly declining magical population of England… Mostly thanks to our “hero” (I mean how many thousands of mages and goblins this kid killed in just one year? Gosh!). I still have quite contradictory impressions of the main plot and some off-the-story "activities"... HOWEVER, if all this were originally presented as a simulator of a young villain (*cough* Voldemort *cough* ) who has to pretend to be a hero, then it would’ve been just be the most "bombardic” thing!
Anyway, here are some pictures of my villainous little thing. Ah, what else could I say… any spell can become forbidden if you try hard enough, dear.

Chapter 3
Part 1
September and October went by quite quickly. Edwart’s always opened vests and imperfect ties changed into closed and covered clothes with a scarf some days. It may not look but Edwart did not stand cold easily. He thought the yellow Hufflepuff common room would emanate with warmth. It did not. Edwart was cold almost all the time, speaking of…
“Edwart? Edwart!” Someone's voice woke Edwart up from his absent-minded state. It was Sebastian’s voice. They were eating breakfast together as Edwart became quieter and quieter during the boys' conversation about Prewett being obnoxious again. “Huh? What is it? Sorry I-” Edwart started but Ominis interrupted him while drinking his tea. “You were somewhere far away it seems. Sebastian was calling your name five times just about now.”
“Yeah. You alright?” Sebastian finished.
“Yes, I- I'm fine. It's just…” Edwart stumbled on his words hesitantly. “There's something I've been putting off for longer than I should have. I've been busy studying some more last night.”
“You had trouble sleeping again?” Ominis asked with a hint of concern.
“No no. I easily got a few hours of sleep. It’s just something I need to do today, that's all.”
“Need some help?” Sebastian grinned.
Edwart returned his smile. “I wish. But It's something I have to do on my own. Don't worry though” Edwart quickly calmed down the boys sitting across from him. He recognised the look on both his friends face's. As if he was running into danger… again. “It's nothing dangerous this time. I promise.”
“Speaking of promises…” Sebastian began and Ominis exhaled deeply. “When’s the right time to fulfil your promise to us.”
“I-” Edwart was caught off guard as he rubbed the back of his neck.
“It’s been almost 2 months. You've said to yourself, you trust us now. Not to mention…” Sebastian lowered his voice and leaned in. “All three of us have the quiet Undercroft now. You could spill everything. No trouble.”
“No trouble?” Edwart scoffed playfully “You are the definition of trouble.”
“I have to agree with that one.” Ominis smiled slyly. “As long as I’ve known him, always has been. ”
“Anyway, not yet Sebastian. Myself, I am dying to tell you. But I can't. Not yet. Soon.” Edwart said in a collected voice.
Sebastian exhaled with frustration which earned him a kick from Ominis who replied with a small grimace. “Don't fret Edwart. We trust you, that you’ll tell us that big secret when the time is right. Whatever it is…”
“Thank you Ominis” Edwart smiled. “Well, I have to get going. I have Divination. I take it none of you attend it?”
Sebastian looked at Ominis who raised his eyebrow with an interest. “Is it that obvious?” Sebastian asked with a small side smile.
“Well, I don't mean to be rude. But I don't see Ominis reading tea leaves. No offence.”
Ominis just smiled and replied, “None taken.”
“And you Sebastian… Give off a feeling for your favourite class to be Defence Against The Dark Arts. Not some ‘silly’ fortune-telling, mind-reading type of class.”
“See Sebastian? I am right. Anyway, gotta run. I'll see you later in potions.”
Ominis snorted as Sebastian looked fakely offended and asked, “What are you laughing at!”
“You.” Ominis answered “I wish I could see your face right about now. Edwart is not wrong, though. You don't strike as a theoretical class fanatic.”
“Can you believe him?” Sebastian asked “He joined Hogwarts not full two months ago and he thinks he’s the smart one.”
“Compared to you?” Ominis said with a mischievous smile. “He’s the Minister of Magic.

Divination went fine but it did bore Edwart, after a while. He was glad he didn't have a double today. Luckily he enjoyed the teachings of Professor Onai. Either way, Edwart had only one more class to go. He had a ‘Care of Magical Creatures’. He stepped into the space under the roof that could be called a class as Professor Howin started her speech. “I see you've already met some of the many beasts we study in this class. Though, be advised, none of these creatures should be taken lightly. They are all in their own way, dangerous especially If one does not know how to handle them properly.” Professor Howin took a look at Edwar and continued. “Miss Sweeting, would you please assist our new student with the lesson today?”
Tumblr media
Poppy Sweetings. A Hufflepuff girl helped Edwart on his first day in Hogwarts. He has been so busy the past two months that he barely registered anyone besides Sebastian and Ominis. Edwart felt like he owed Poppy an apology. But for what?
“Yes, Professor. Hello! Nice to see you again Edwart. Don't worry about Professor Howin's speech. She overexaggerates sometimes. All The beasts in class are perfectly safe.” And as she was saying that, a Puffskein she was holding, slipped its tongue into Poppy's face.
“Miss Sweeting, pay attention. Please. The tongue of a Puffskein can be a slippery devil.” Professor Howin's strict tone scolded Poppy. “Um… Yes Professor.” Poppy replied, a little embarrassed.“Here. you can practise on Gerald.”
The lesson went on calmly until Professor Howin checked on every student and called. “Good work everyone. Now. Let's make our way to the pens and select another beast. And please. do be careful as you feed and groom them.”
“Follow me,” Poppy spoke with glee as she dragged Edwart towards the Kneazle pens. Must have been a funny sight. Someone as short as Poppy dragging by a sleeve, someone as tall as Edwart. Surprisingly Edwart didn't mind that spontaneous touch from Poppy. But their short gleeful moment was interrupted by two students speaking. “Coupla' Kneazle whiskers oughta' get me a few Knuts at least. Enough to buy something from Honeydukes.” A Slytherin boy spoke to a Ravenclaw girl with a snicker. He tried to forcefully rip the whiskers from the Kneazle's muzzle when Poppy stepped in.
“What in Merlin's name are you doing?!” She quickly scoped the Kneazle out.
“Ugh.” The boy said with a deprecation “Peculiar Poppy. Worried about a worthless little rodent?”
That riled Poppy up. “Her name is Persephone!”
“'Her name is Persephone.'” The boy taunted as he laughed loutishly. That's when Edwart had enough and decided to step in. Edwart stepped in front of Poppy.
Tumblr media
“You got any more ‘funny’ jests like that?” Edwart said sarcastically as he clenched his fist and took a step closer forward to the Slytherin student. “Or are you just that uncreative?” The student was visibly intimidated by Edwarts height and manner so he finally made the wise decision to back off. “Ugh, let's go.” Both students returned to their desks as Edwart kept an eye on them, that's when he noticed Professor Howin watching the whole situation so Edwart decided to turn his attention back to Poppy. “Thank you for your help.” She said with a relieved smile. “Those two don't belong anywhere near this class. Poachers-in-training. Persephone was onto them instantly. But Let's carry on. Feed and brush the Kneazles just as you did with Gerald.”
Edwart did as he was instructed. Persephone even came back for some small chin scratches. “They’re like big cats aren't they?”
Poppy chuckled “I suppose they are. Hmm. The Kneazles took to you. They know a good egg when they see one.” Poppy smiled at Edwart who was currently petting one of the oversized cats. “As do l,” Poppy added at the end.
Edwart looked at her with a surprised expression at that unexpected stroke. “I-”
“It appears our time has come to an end. Please close the pens and see yourselves out.” Professor Howin interrupted whatever Edwart was going to say. “Now. Where is our new student? Ah, there you are. I would like a moment. please.” Professor Howin came to Edwart as Poppy stepped quietly to the side.
Edwart stood up from petting the beasts. “Yes, Professor?”
“Well done today. How did you enjoy the class?”
“It was good. I enjoyed it.” Edwart said looking at the animals absent-mindedly.
“Some provide us with magically imbued materials. if cared for correctly. Which does not include torturing them for whiskers. Well done, by the way. Probably best to let me handle it next time.”
“But I did handle it, Professor. Some people just need to learn a more adamant way. Not something reducing house points would sort out I'm afraid.” Edwart spoke with confidence.
“Either way. Next time report it. Instead of picking fights. Understood?” She said firmly ending any chance at a discussion.
“Understood,” Edwart said with a hint of annoyance.
“Professor Weasley has asked that I prepare some assignments designed to help you catch up to the other fifth-years. Meanwhile, I also encourage you to study as many beasts as you can on your own time. That'll be all.
Edwart thought Professor Howin was being unreasonably strict and not towards the students who deserved it. But he was brought back to reality by Poppy's voice calling him. “Edwart. Over here.”
“Poppy?”
“I wanted to thank you again for saying something to those brutes so that I didn't have to.” “Oh, the pleasure was all mine. I’ve seen their kind most of my life. Loud-mouthed cowards. All bark no bite.” Edwart said bitterly.
“Yes. Well, thank you again. You were an Augurey at noon in the desert.”
“I- I'm sorry?” Edwart said confusedly
Poppy smiled. “It's something my gran and I say. It means that something or someone is a welcome surprise. Actually, inlight of that, there's someone I'd like you to meet. In the Forest.” Poppy said mysteriously.
Edwart was caught off guard. “I'm sorry, what?”
“It's a surprise. Please trust me.” Poppy pleaded.
Edwart was confused. Why was she so easy to open up to? To trust? There was something about Poppy's personality that was magnetic. That made Edwart feel comfortable like he had no care in the world. After a moment of weighing his options and looking at that pretty gleeful face of Poppy's, he decided to take his chance.
“Lead the way, Poppy,” Edwart spoke with a small smile.
Poppy beamed as they started walking. Edwart thought it was going to be a quiet walk but then Poppy started a conversation. “I must say. You seem to be thriving in Hogwarts.”
“Oh? How so?” Edwart asked curiously.
“When I first met you. You struck me as a shy, private and very… lost student. That's not the person I saw today. You seem to be doing good here. Are you?”
“Well, I am following a girl into the forest with no knowledge of what or who or where. So I guess you could say I'm not so ‘lost’ looking.”
Poppy chuckled at that response. “See? Different but I would say it's definitely a good thing. Don't worry. I wouldn't take just anyone there in fact. you're the first.”
“Really? Well. thank you, I think.” Edwart answered with hesitation.
“We’re here,” Poppy said gleefully.
They've stopped somewhere near the owlery near a tree line. After a minute Poppy whistled as if she was calling something… or someone. Then suddenly a hippogriff flew from out of nowhere and landed calmly and gracefully before Poppy.
Tumblr media
“Please meet Highwing! isn't she just magnificent?” Poppy said with a smile but then it quickly faded when she saw Edwarts expression. “Oh. don't be frightened. Introduce yourself to her. Just be gentle and be careful. you must always show Hippogriffs the proper courtesy before you approach them.”
Edwart had never seen such a ginormous magical beast stand before him. He knew he shouldn't be scared but there was something about Highwing that made him uneasy. “Are you sure this is a good idea? It’s not about being scared. I just don't want to hurt her or anything.” Edwart said with a grimace.
Poppy came closer to Edwart and she took his hand as she spoke. “Edwart, can you trust me?”
Edwart felt uncomfortable, not just because of the hippogriff standing before him but also because Poppy asked him such a hard question, he desperately wanted to say yes. So he tried. “I suppose I can try…” he said unsure as he took his hand from Poppy’s in a nervous manner.
“Then trust me when I say. You have to bow to introduce yourself. She won't move, that I can promise you.” Poppy took a few steps back and showed him a thumbs up.
Edwart swallowed thickly as he bowed slowly. After a short while Highwing returned the bow as he exhaled relieved.
“I knew it! I don't think I've ever seen a Hippogriff take to someone this quickly. You can pet her now if you'd like.”
“Uhm- No thank you, Poppy. But I must say that was quite the experience.” Edwart finally smiled.
“I come and check on her every once in a while.” Poppy continued as she ruffled Highwings feathers “Tell her stories and feed her. She’s very intelligent. Feels like she understands every word I say.”
Poppy and Edwart continued talking for a while more. They’ve spent their afternoon together. “You seem undeterred,” Edwart answered with slight interest. “Will you let me know what you find out and of course if you need help”?
“Oh. very well. If I do find something I’ll owl you. Thank you for today.” Poppy smiled.
“No. Thank you. For introducing me to Highwing. This was certainly something.”
Poppy smiled one last time and they both went their separate ways.

Thank you so much for reading CHAPTER 3! Ahhhh! The longest part ever, but I had to! It's here. I wanted to thank all of you for reacting and reading my fanfiction. Boys hanging out, Poppy comeback and Eddie being afraid of Highwing. Can we normalise being afraid? I know I would've been. Sorry for the poor quality. Thank you so much for reading! More parts coming soon<3

MC, seeing Poppy trying to shush a struggling creature in her arms on their way to Beasts class: Poppy, let me see what you have!
Poppy, turning to them with a big smile and bite marks all over her face: a murtlap! 😃
MC, running over to grab the murtlap from her: NO!
Prof. Howin, looking at them both from the edge of her classroom: oh my god, why does she have a murtlap-

Unspoken Attraction — Sebastian Sallow x Reader
Tumblr media
PLOT SUMMARY:
The girls and you have a talk on who they'll date amongst the students in Hogwarts. No one mentions Sebastian despite being deemed the most handsome in your year. You wonder why?
DISCLAIMER:
gossip gossip hihi, imelda being the best and just roasts every1 esp seb, seb being down bad, realizations, friends 2 lovers, kiss kiss fall in love, gender neutral reader, readers house is up to u, fluff disgusting fluff, i love u sallow boy.
Tumblr media
"I think Amit is quite handsome. I suppose he'd be a good conversation partner." Natty hums as she rests her chin on the palm of her hand. Imelda looks at her with disgust.
"He'd probably love astronomy more than you in your relationship. I'd punch him on the first date." Imelda scoffs, rolling her eyes. Poppy just gives the Slytherin gal a glare for her unkind words.
The four of you were lounging in the empty Beasts classroom, relaxing in the cool breeze coming from the forest. Professor Howin had allowed the four of you (originally you and Poppy, but Imelda and Natty had passed by and decided to tag along) to stay in the classroom in hopes of teaching the new 5th year (You) more about Beasts but all you've done in the past hour is sit on one of the tables and talk about the most random of things. Now you were talking about who to date in Hogwarts.
"What about Yrma?" Poppy suggests. "She's nice."
"Stop suggesting Ravenclaws. I physically cannot handle it." Imelda grunts. You shoot her a sympathetic look to which she flips you off. "Also, she's a third year. I'd die if you pair me up with someone younger. A journalist, too, she'd know every step I'll do, and I'll just have an aneurysm because of it."
"Alright, what about Weasley?" You suggest. Natty makes a look, considering the option. Poppy sighs and shakes her head.
"Which one?" Imelda jokes, to which Natty smacks her arm. Poppy rolls her eyes before answering the question.
"He's cute but too mischievous." Poppy lists. Imelda nods, agreeing with her statement. Poppy pets the Puffskein sleeping on her lap, smiling softly at the cute creature snoring away.
"Eh. He's fun. I can probably handle him." Natty says. You let out a small laugh.
"I'll pass. He's like a brother to me. Probably because Professor Weasley acts too much like a mom." You reply. You lean closer to Poppy, glancing down at the Puffskein to coo at it.
"What about Dale? She's cute." Natty suggests. She then turns to Imelda, who looks like she'd complain once more about a Ravenclaw being listed. "Don't."
"What? I wasn't gonna say anything..."
"It's because her past lover was from Ravenclaw that she's like this." Poppy says with a disappointed look on her face. "Clumping up all Ravenclaws and putting your prejudice that was originally for one person into the general public, huh?"
"Shut it, Sweeting." Imelda glares at her.
"Alright, stop fighting. I know you'd rather date a Hufflepuff, Reyes." You tease. The Slytherin's cheeks flush, and a harsh kick to your knee sends you jolting up against the table with a pained groan. The Puffskein awakens to the sudden harsh movement and jumps off Poppy's lap.
"Imelda!" Poppy whines as she watches the Puffskein hop away to its den. "Look at what you did!"
"How'd you even know it was me?!" Imelda complains. Poppy crosses her arms over her chest.
"You're seated directly in front of Y/N. They'd never jump for no reason, and also, Natty's an angel. Besides, I could feel the kick." Poppy chastised. Imelda looks away with furrowed eyebrows and a pout as she grumbles about it, not being her fault. You look at the two with a smile.
"It's okay, Poppy, let's just continue." You send Imelda a knowing smile to which she scowls at. Natty giggles at the interaction.
"Ooh, what about Gaunt?" Natty wiggles her eyebrows. "He's a young lord. Deemed one of the most handsome in our year. I'd date him."
"Really? You'd get pulverized by his crazy blood status fanatic of a family." Imelda leans forward to place her arms on the table before leaning down to rest her head on it. "But I guess he's decent. The type to defend you against them. A typical romantic cliche."
"Doesn't he have a lover?" Poppy mentions. Imelda immediately rises up at the information.
"Oh yeah. I saw them snogging near DADA. Sebastian looked like he was constipated, muttered about when it was his turn to be happy or something." Imelda cringes at the memory. At the mention of the Sallow boy's name, Natty and Poppy glance at each other with knowing looks. Suddenly, their attention is on you.
"What about you, Y/N? Will you date Ominis?" Poppy smiles knowingly. There's something about the two's stare that puts you in an uncomfortable position.
"Uh..." You purse your lips in thought. Ominis was one of your best friends. He had been with you through thick and thin, but that's all he ever was. Besides, he was happily in love with someone else. "Not really? Same answer with Gareth's."
Natty nods in understanding. Imelda glances at the two in confusion. "Why do you two look like you're the one who's constipated?"
"Shut it, Reyes." Poppy rolls her eyes. You laugh at their bickering. At this point, there was one person who definitely should be mentioned in this conversation. He was already well known in the school for his charming personality and handsome looks. People always gossip about him. You let out a shaky breath before nervously glancing at the three.
"What about Sebastian?" You suggest. The three fall in silence, not responding to the question. It didn't even look like they were contemplating about it. "Hello? Did you not hear me or what—"
"Oh no, we heard you." Imelda chuckles as she smirks at her. When Imelda smirks, you know it's not good. "I just don't think we can claim him."
"Claim him?" You tilt your head in confusion. "You make it sound like he's already dating someone."
"Ehh..." Natty shrugs her shoulders. "Aren't you?"
"Aren't I what? Huh?" You sat, baffled at their curious looks. "I'm not dating Sebastian?"
The three look at each other before laughing. It wasn't even a casual laugh, it's full on stomach grabbing, tear inducing, I'm-gonna-pee what the fuck laugh. You look at them in confusion.
"Merlin, I can't take this seriously." Natty wipes a tear from her eyes as she continues to laugh.
"I'm really not dating him!?"
"You're so funny!" Imelda pats your shoulder. "Don't tell me kissing each other everywhere except the lips counts as friendly. Who the fuck kisses their friend on the neck?"
"Uh, she has a point." Poppy shrugs. "He walks you to class, holds your hand, and not even in a normal way. It's the intertwined one, and if looks could kill, Garreth Weasley had already been buried months ago."
"Also, he always touches you. An arm on your waist, hugging you from behind, fixing your hair, looking at you like you're the Messiah yourself." Natty lists on, continuing Poppy's evidence. Surely not?
You stare at them with wide eyes and an unreadable look. You and Sebastian had always had a strong bond. Ominis often commented about feeling left out whenever you two were together. You always thought that he was just teasing you about it. The things that you've gone through had eliminated all barriers between the two of you, so physical affection had seem normal for you. Had the line between friends and more than friends became too blurred already?
"Merlin's beard. You don't know!" Natty gasps in shock. "Rafiki, that is more than just friendship."
"But I'm really not..." You try to defend yourself, but the more that they stare at you, the more you start to realize how obvious it should've been. Before you could try and convince yourself about how ludicrous it is all, Imelda delivers the final blow.
"Love, everyone knows Sebastian is yours."
Heat rises to your cheeks, and as if things couldn't get any worse, a familiar voice calls out to your little group.
"There you are!" Sebastian Sallow, the devil himself, grins as he approches your little group with Ominis trailing behind. The three cough at his sudden appearance and you freeze in your seat.
He makes his way behind you, grasping your shoulder firmly before leaning down close to your face. "Hey, I'm here. No greeting?"
You turn your head towards him, glancing at the three girls who look away, trying to contain their laughter. You look back at Sebastian, who smiles, expecting something. You sigh, giving him a chaste kiss on his cheek. He lights up like a Christmas tree.
At the sight of affection, the three suddenly stand up, collecting their things. "O-oh I just remembered I forgot to water the chinese cabbages again, haha! Silly me! I better go get it!" Natty says with a poorly concealed smile. Sebastian looks at her, confused.
"Uh? Okay?" Sebastian awkwardly laughs. You glared at her as she grabbed Imelda and Poppy who make haste in gathering their things.
"I also have to bring them and Ominis because of ... uh... safety." Natty bullshits her way through as Imelda grabs the young Gaunt's arm, pulling him with them.
"Huh what? I didn't get a say in th—" Poppy covers his mouth as they walk away, dragging him along. Natty gives her a final thumbs up of encouragement as the two of you watch in confusion. You watch as their figures disappear before the boy beside you finally breaks the silence.
"There they go." Sebastian sighs. "I was hoping I'd get to hang out, but oh well. I don't really have complaints with just us here."
You flush at his bluntness as he sits down beside you, pulling your figure to his arms. He hugs you tightly before resting his head on your shoulder. "History of Magic felt like forever. I swear I'd never be able to stay awake in that class. Binns must've put something in the air."
You couldn't focus. He's so close.
"Lucky that you and Ominis get to share that class. At least you'd have someone to suffer with." He jokes as he raises his head. Silence engulfs you both as he stares at your face.
"Stop." You groan as you try to push his face away, but he only grasps your hand in his palm.
"Why? You look like you're about to explode." He laughs softly. You still couldn't look at him, eyes trained at the table in front of you. To make things worse, he grabs your chin before softly turning your head towards him.
"I'm talking to you. Look at me." He mumbles lowly in a deep voice. You almost wanted to whimper at how attractive that was.
"Stop doing that, I swear." You whisper as you look at him, nervousness creeping. He smirks, leaning in.
"Why? You seem so quiet today." He chuckles, pulling you closer as he tucks a stray hair away from your face. "What's got your pretty little head busy, hm?"
"You." You admit as your eyes admire his features. He lets out a soft smile.
"Me?"
"Yeah." You raise your hands to cup his cheeks. The two of you had been sitting so close that if you just lean a little bit forward, you'd be able to kiss him.
"Yeah?" He raises his eyebrows in amusement as his gaze flickers from your eyes to your lips.
"You're so annoying." You pout. He bites his lip before dropping his head on your shoulder. Your fingers then softly scratch his scalp and twirling his curls. He raises his head back up before unashamedly stares at your lips.
"I don't need to tell you what's going to happen, right?" He whispers. You gulp nervously as your arms slide up to wrap around his neck, pulling him closer.
"Mhm." You hum before placing a chaste kiss on his lips, testing the waters. He lets out a shaky breath at the sudden action. You look up at his eyes, trying to discern if what you did was okay before he grins fully and leans back down to kiss you again.
Your body unconsciously pushes against him, craving his touch. You tenderly kiss him back, hands occuppied with his soft hair. His hands rub your lower back gently as he continues to kiss you. You don't know how much time has passed before you pull away. You both smile at each other before Sebastian leans forward to give you more pecks on the lips. You giggle at his behavior.
"I like you." He whispers, nudging his nose against yours. You smile at his confession, palms now cupping his cheeks. You press a firm kiss on his lips before staring at him in adoration.
"I like you too."

Judge of Character | Sebastian Sallow x GN Hufflepuff
(REQUESTS ARE OPEN!)
Word count: 1.2k
Warnings: none! absolute fluffy goodness for my first post on this page c:
Summary: When professor Howin assigns a task on caring of a niffler, Sebastian has a bit of a hard time. That is, until you give him the confidence he had hidden all along.
Tumblr media
“Now, just gently tickle their belly: like this,” professor Howin demonstrated as her finger tips grazed over the nifflers stomach, earning a giggle from the creature. You slowly and gently let your fingertips graze the light brown patch that covered the creatures otherwise dark, chocolate brown colored fur. As your fingertips tickled the beast, it began to wriggle in delight as various coins and rubies began to slip out of their pouch. “Very well done! Ten points to Hufflepuff!” Professor Howin stood by your side as your niffler had sat back up to collect their shiny belongings and also managed to sneak your own personal bracelet clean off your wrist while you were smiling at the professor.
“Oh come on you bloody rat!” You heard a familiar voice shout from the table towards the kneazle pens. “I thought you were supposed to like this, why am I wasting my time with you,” frustrated grunts filled the air as the boy took the creature by its toes and hung it upside down. “Perhaps because you are torturing the poor thing, Sebastian” Ominis spoke up as he tried to stifle a snicker behind his hand. Ominis reached his hand out to feel around the table to cradle his niffler in one hand while he tucked his wand into his robe before gently tickling onto the creature's soft tuft of blue fur. “See?” The blonde boy smirked in Sebastian's general direction, earning a growl of jealousy in response. “You know, Sebastian, they say that creatures are a good judge of character.” Ominis started as he began to laugh through his words.
“Perhaps, you could assist your Slytherin friend with his niffler? I think he needs a more… gentle approach?” professor Howin raised her eyebrows as he forced herself to look away from the scene and back towards you. “Once you have taken care of that, you are free to spend the rest of class time as you’d please. I know you have been wanting to spend some more time with the new baby thestrals.” With a delighted smile and an eager nod in response, you thanked the professor before slowly stalking toward your friends. You gently place a hand on Ominis lower back so as to not startle him as you sneak up on Sebastian. “I thought I heard you struggling over here,” you began as you smiled through your words, placing a hand on Sebastian's shoulder. “Oh Merlin, finally, a voice of reason that Sebastian will actually listen to.” Ominis pressed his hands together in prayer as he lifted his head to the sky. “That bloody rat trusted the one that couldn’t even see it over me, the one that was doing exactly like everyone else did!” Sebastian pouted, looking over to Ominis to see if he had offended him with his spurt of jealousy. “Sebastian, you just need to be more patient. It will learn to trust you; we both did…” Ominis whispered soothingly as he gave his friend a reassuring pat on the back. “Ominis is right, Sebastian. These creatures don’t understand things the way we do. They don’t inherently know that we don’t mean any harm. You have seen the poachers all around in high volumes lately first hand!” You started as you gently slipped the niffler into your hands and nuzzled its beak with your nose. “For all they know, we are no better than those nasty nasty poachers, right?” You spoke in a baby-talk sort of tone to the niffler before pulling back and smiling genuinely at your friends. “Now, hold your hands in a little cup like this,” you held up your hands so he could watch closely, Sebastian shuffling to stand beside you so he could watch your exact movements. “Very good! Now, slowly just let it get used to you before you start moving.” You gently slid the niffler from your hands into his, the creature sniffing his fingers before nuzzling into his palm.
After a few moments, the niffler was in delight as Sebastian began to tickle their light tuft of brown fur. “Look at it! I think they actually like it!” Sebastian's smile gleamed in the dimming sunset as he turned to look at your for approval. “I knew you could do it, you just needed an extra hand.” You smiled and placed your hands under Sebastians, caressing his knuckles with your thumbs. A bright flush of red spread across the boy's cheeks before setting the niffler back onto the table and scratching nervously at the back of his neck. “I’m going to get a head start to the great hall for supper, but I will save a seat for the both of you. Don’t dally on your way back.” Ominis smiled as he retrieved his wand from his robes, the tip flashing red to lead the boy towards the castle. It was clear that your friend knew you wanted a moment alone from the blush now spreading to your cheeks as well. “Would you like to see the new baby thestral? Professor Howin gave me a key to their den so I could give them some food and brush them before the class gets to see them next week. I wouldn’t mind the company.” You insisted, nudging your elbow into Sebastian's arm. The boy smiled and nodded in excitement as he watched you turn towards the den, sheepishly letting his hand brush yours as you walked. You took a deep breath as if to swallow any ounce of courage in the air and let your fingers interlace with him as you walked toward the den, a smile forcing itself to spread across your lips.
“It still hurts me to know that you can see thestrals too,” Sebastian started as he opened the door to the den, letting you walk in first before he quickly trailed behind and let the door close behind him. “That makes two of us. But, it at least makes me happy to be able to see these little guys.” You smiled as you kneeled down, gently stroking the back of the creature's mother before doing the same to the new baby. “Absolutely beautiful and misunderstood creatures.” You muttered to yourself as you smiled at the now yawning baby thestral. “Are all Hufflepuffs this good with beasts? Or was Ominis right about creatures being a good judge of character?” Sebastian chuckled as he knelt down beside you, his hands in his lap. You let out a soft chuckle before grabbing his hand on your own and guiding it to the back of the thestral. “Maybe a bit of both,” you shrugged as you slowly let go of the boy's hand, watching him gently stroke the back of the creature. “I guess even creatures need their own emotional support Hufflepuff,” Sebastian joked as he jokingly poked at your side, earning a wriggle out of you before setting your head on his shoulder. “They will have to find their own, you’re mine.”

Hi!! I absolutely LOVE your writing, you do such an amazing job!! I was wondering, if you have the time and are taking requests, could you do how each character cuddles with MC? Can be platonic or romantic, and I was wondering if you could also add professors. Thank you so much, I hope it's not to much to ask!! Have a great day/night!!❤️
A/N: romantic cuddling for the friends, platonic cuddle/hugs for the professors :3
HLC CUDDLE HEADCANNONS
SEBASTIAN SALLOW: This boy is a snake. Full body wrapped around MC like a python. He won't let go easily, either. But he's warm and gives many kisses, so the entrapment is worth it.
OMINIS GAUNT: Physical touch has rarely led to good things in his life so MC will need to be patient with him. Once their relationship is to the point that he feels safe with them, he cuddles with his hands constantly mapping their body. He will have every part of them committed to memory.
ANNE SALLOW: She likes laying on top of them with her face on their chest. She finds their heartbeat soothing. She also likes hearing it speed up when she's feeling cheeky.
IMELDA REYES: Physical touch isn't one of her love languages, so she doesn't go out of her way to cuddle them. She doesn't reject it, She finds MC's affection cute, but she'll be reading or messing with her wand while she lays there with MC attached.
NATSAI ONAI: She is the big spoon. She must protecc. She whispers all sorts of sweet nothing's while she's holding them and gives little neck kisses.
GARRETH WEASLEY: Cuddling him is dangerous because MC never knows what he'll do. This goof can't help but make MC laugh. He loves hearing it. He'll boop their nose, lick their face, even tickle them for a reaction.
LEANDER PREWETT: Long boi with long limbs. MC is tangled in him with little hope of getting away. He has quite the wingspan, so even if MC is on the other side of the bed, he can just casually reach over and yoink them to his side.
AMIT THAKKAR: Hope MC likes his voice, cause he's a talker. MC is his captive audience and he will go on and on and ON about just about anything. Mostly astronomical topics, but he goes off on tangents.
EVERETT CLOPTON: He's the little spoon. Doesn't matter how tall MC is compared to him. They could be the longest mfer or just a little backpack, he loves them either way. He feels held.
POPPY SWEETING: Smol. Turns into a ball like a little hedgehog. Might get lost in the cushions or blankets, so hold tight. Also a bit of a squirmer, sometimes struggles to get comfortable. She'll settle down eventually.
~~~~
ELEAZAR FIG: Dad. Hugs. Like, sit on the couch under his arm, dad hugs. Warm and comforting and loving. MC will likely fall asleep.
MATILDA WEASLEY: She's not too much of a hugger, but she won't deny one if MC asks. They'll be short but comforting.
CHIYO KOGAWA: She's not much of a hugger but if MC really needs one, she'll oblige. Might be a bit awkward, but she means well.
AESOP SHARP: MC will have to be strategic. First, gain his trust. That's the hard part. Second, catch him in a good mood. Third, MC must ask ONLY when no one else is around. His affection is very private. Fourth, (optional step) liquid luck.
ABRAHAM RONEN: Favorite Uncle vibes. Playful bear hugs that crush ribs and pick MC up off their feet. Best hugs for when MC needs a laugh.
MIRABEL GARLICK: Very much a hugger. MC can hold her as long as they need to. Let all their worries and stress melt away in her genuine embrace.
MUDIWA ONAI: She gives the best Mom hugs MC could ever experience. She'll go so far as to hug MC in her lap and rock them like a child, even if MC is tall.
BAI HOWIN: If MC needs affection, she suggests they seek out mooncalves or puffskiens.
DINAH HECAT: She is more affectionate than she lets on. If MC is stressed and needs a hug, she offers one without prompting.
CUTHBERT BINNS: He's a ghost. Move along.
SATYAVATI SHAH: She's not an affectionate person. MC will get more warmth from a glacier.
PHINEAS NIGELLUS BLACK: If MC knows what's good for them, they won't touch him. Ever.
"Evasive Maneuvers" - Part 8
Tumblr media
Summary: You've been in love with Sebastian since the moment you knocked him on his arse on your first day. Entering your sixth year, you finally begin working up the courage to confess your feelings when he suddenly becomes the best Beater Hogwarts has seen in decades - and subsequently becomes the school's most eligible bachelor.
Author's Notes: back at it with part 8 after an extended hiatus! i'm so sorry for the angsty cliffhanger, my loves. college has been taking up most of my time, but i promise this isn't the last chapter! see you at the next one :)))
Sebastian Sallow had never considered himself undesirable, but ever since his daring rescue and subsequent placement on the Championship team his popularity skyrocketed. Several of the girls in his year had begun giggling each time they passed him in the halls between classes, and a few of them even trailed him class to class, blushing like mad. He seemed to have caught the eye of every witch, and nearly every wizard, in the castle. Every witch, that is, except the one he so desperately longed to speak to. To add insult to injury, his beloved Gryffindor was seldom seen without Garreth Weasley by her side. Garreth, who had been chosen as the Championship team’s second Beater.
When Professor Howin announced the official roster after dinner last week Sebastian was hardly surprised. Everything was going to Hell in a handbasket, and he would’ve been more shocked if she’d chosen anyone other than that smug git. He hadn’t spoken to his Gryffindor since last week. It might take time, but surely she had to understand that he was wrong for her. Even if he’d wanted to apologize to her, what would he even say? He couldn’t - wouldn’t - place her in harm’s way ever again. Despite his every effort to make amends for his actions in fifth year, there was always a voice whispering to him in the dark recesses of his mind. It mimicked her screams and promised that she would never be safe so long as he was by her side. In time Ominis, Anne, and his beloved Gryffindor had all forgiven him. But he could never forgive himself.
He was growing restless in her absence, throwing himself into his studies and pushing himself to exhaustion at every practice. He found work to be the best distraction, but even his fellow team members could sense he was nearing a breaking point.
He found himself searching for her in every corridor hoping to get her alone so that he could begin to fix things. Perhaps he could convince her that they weren’t right for each other. He could sever the thread connecting their hearts and cauterize the wound with the guilt that tormented him each night. They could remain friends, just friends, and nothing more. Sebastian told himself that it would be enough. If he could survive just having her in his life, even if it meant never having her in his arms. And every day, just before he saw her laughing with Garreth, he could almost make himself believe it.
---
The worst thing about nightmares wasn’t the horrors that waited, but the inescapability of it all. For all his books and cleverness, logic was useless against the throes of his own terrified mind. A good night’s sleep was a pipe dream. After nearly an hour of tossing and turning Sebastian gave up on trying to rest and slipped away to the common room.
The cavernous hall was as empty as he expected it to be in the dead hours of early morning. The fires burned demurely in the hearths and the gentle padding of his slippers against stone was the only sound to echo back to him. He stood in the center of the main atrium facing the windows and took a deep breath. As a little boy Sebastian had hated feeling small, like he was at the mercy of everyone and everything bigger than him.
But now as he gazed up at the great vaulted ceilings he was reminded of how freeing it felt to let go. A year before his parents’ accident they’d taken a family trip to London. His most vivid memory was of the grand cathedrals they’d visited. The stone arches sloped around intricate stained glass windows reached proudly for the heavens at least a hundred feet above him. The gentle timbre of a practicing choir and the sun caressing his cheek had lulled him into a sense of peace reminiscent of falling asleep in his mother’s arms. He’d give anything to feel that small and safe and protected again.
Ever since he’d lost his parents Sebastian had been determined to keep those he cared about safe at any cost. If he had to choose between his happiness or theirs, he’d relinquish his own without question. If he was doing the right thing to keep his Gryffindor safe, then why did it cause him such agony?
The unfairness of it all seeped into his very bones and settled like lead. Sebastian wondered if the universe decided ahead of time which souls were marked to suffer. If he had been faster the night his parents collapsed in their laboratory, perhaps his family would still be together. If he’d been just a bit smarter in fifth year, perhaps he could have found a cure for his sister before resorting to torturing his best friend.
He vaguely registered the book slip from his weak grasp. It was the starting thud of the spine hitting marble that roused him from his thoughts. As he bent to retrieve the tome he heard a soft sigh from one of the couches by the fire. He wasn’t alone. Curiosity got the better of him and drew him toward the sleeping figure.
His breath hitched as he recognized the girl asleep among the velvet cushions. A faraway voice reminded him of Ominis’ passing remarks from breakfast. She and Ominis were working together on a class project by the end of the week and they would be working in the common room for a few hours. But it didn’t matter. None of it did. She was curled up on her side, hair sloped gently around her shoulders in the softest halo he’d ever seen. Her chest rose and fell and with every breath Sebastian felt himself pulled impossibly closer. He was near enough to notice the tiny shiver that sent a tremble through her frame. He realized she must be cold.
On instinct he slipped out of his robe and laid it over her. She didn’t stir when the makeshift blanket settled around her, and he didn’t want her to. Inexplicably the anxiety had drained from him. He would have given anything for her to just look at him. Weeks without her company had made him desperate. But seeing her sleeping peacefully, knowing that she was safe from harm and poachers and all else for at least one night, was enough for him.
He allowed himself to stare shamelessly, selfishly, for a moment more before quietly making his way back to his room. As he crawled beneath the covers he idly wondered if her ancient magic was what had calmed him so. It was the last thought to cross his mind before he fell into the gently arms of oblivion, free from nightmares for the first time in ages.
Beastly Behaviour
Sebastian Sallow x F!MC
WC: ~1.5K / Themes: (Fluff 💚 Light Violence 👊)
Summary: If there's one thing MC can't stand, it's a bully. During a Beasts Class, she takes defending Sebastian's honour into her own hands - literally.
(Yep, someone is getting punched and Sebastian is smitten.)
---
"Why did you decide to take Beasts Class again? I never got the sense you were that interested," MC asked on the way to their first class of the year.
Sebastian shrugged non-committally. "I got a good enough grade and I'm keeping my options open.  The extra studying's not an issue."
"Riiiight. And it wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that I happen to be taking it, would it?" She asked, shooting him a sly smirk.
She expected him to deny it; she was only teasing, after all, but he returned her gaze seriously, wearing a fond expression.
"It may have had a small influence on my decision," he admitted, and she scoffed to hide her blush.
They arrived at the class and MC gave Poppy a quick hug in greeting before Professor Howin rounded them up.
"Everyone, follow me! I have a special lesson planned to welcome you all back." She led the trail of students out beyond the paddocks and through the tree line of the forest, finally coming to a stop at a grassy clearing. MC smiled when she saw what awaited them there.
"Here we are!" Their professor declared, holding her arms out in rather dramatic fashion.
There was a heavy pause before someone spoke. It was that haughty Slytherin boy who had harassed that Kneazle and Poppy back in fifth year. MC had never bothered to learn his name. "Um, professor, not to be rude, but there doesn't actually appear to be anything here," he sneered, and a Ravenclaw girl by his side snickered loudly. What in Merlin's name were those two doing in this class, anyway? Seeking to torture harmless creatures for sport, no doubt.
"Perhaps not to you, Mr. Parkinson, but I'll wager there's at least one person here who can identify the magnificent creatures before us," Professor Howin replied, looking at the rest of the class expectantly.
"Thestrals," MC answered, instantly.
Professor Howin smiled at her, nodding her approval, though there was was a tinge of sympathy in her eyes to accompany it.
"Indeed! As many of you will be aware, Thestrals can only be seen by those who have witnessed death. Of course, that has earnt them a rather negative reputation..." Professor Howin went on to speak of how Thestrals had unfairly cemented their place in wizard folklore as harbringers of misfortune. Sebastian listened with his arms folded, a small frown on his face.
"You really don't like Thestrals, do you?" MC stated more than asked, leaning her head towards his ear.
"I don't dislike them. They just...remind me of what I've lost, that's all. The very concept of them is macabre," he replied.
"But they're such gentle creatures," she insisted, though she soon realised that her timing was rather questionable when Professor Howin began tossing raw steaks into the clearing. The Thestrals descended upon them with gusto, and the 'unsighted' in their class let out gasps of fear and amazement as the the meat seemingly began to levitate and then vanish before their eyes.
Sebastian's lip twitched, and he looked at her with dry amusement. "Ah, yes. Look at them ever so gently ripping apart those steaks."
She rolled her eyes and swatted him on the shoulder, causing him to chuckle.
"What is even the point of this? Most of us can't even see the damn things anyway," Parkinson muttered irritably under his breath. He looked around the clearing before his eyes alighted on another, much more visible form of entertainment.
He sauntered over to MC and Sebastian, a gleam in his eyes that she very much did not like the look of.
"Sallow, you can see them, right?" Parkinson asked in an exagerated whisper, practically pushing her aside in the process.
Sebastian frowned. He had no patience for his housemate at the best of times. "Just what exactly are you getting at, Parksinson?"
"Is it true that your parents got themselves killed playing around with a muggle contraption?" Parkinson probed, lowering his voice even further. She saw Sebastian tense and felt a wave of apprehension overcome her.
"Did your uncle go in an equally tragic way? Perhaps he tripped and fell on his garden shears outside that quaint cottage of yours?" Parkinson continued with a cruel smile, his words sickly. MC was equal parts shocked and outraged by his brazenness.
Sebastian hadn't reacted yet, but she could sense the warning signs: the darkening in his expression and the twitch of his fingers towards his wand. She, however, acted first. Without a word, she marched over to Parkinson, wand forgotten, and punched him square in the face.
She heard (and felt) a rather satisfying crack before he stumbled backwards onto the floor, clutching his nose. The Thestrals bellowed, spooked, and fled from the clearing in a rush of hoofbeats and leathery wings.
"Wh - what the hell?!" He spluttered with outrage, but the heat of his accusation was largely undone by his nasally voice, now thick with blood.
"Muggle enough for you?" She spat, glaring down at him. She was acutely aware of Sebastian's eyes on her back and looked over her shoulder to see him staring at her with eyes wide and mouth agape.
Professor Howin pushed her way through the circle of students that had formed around them. "And what, exactly, is going on here?" She demanded, glaring daggers at them both.
Parkinson jabbed an accusatory finger up at MC, his other hand still clutching his streaming nose. "This lunatic attacked me!"
"Only because he was saying some truly vile things," she retorted, her temper rising again. She obviously hadnt hit him hard enough.
"Enough!" Professor Howin shouted, her voice firm. "Both of you will serve detention with me for a week. I will not tolerate such beastly behaviour in my class."
"What? Why me?!" Parkinson spluttered.
Professor Howin looked down at him with a withering look. "Because I have no doubt, Mr Parkinson, that you did in fact say some rather vile things to earn that broken nose."
Sebastian snorted with laughter, and a few other students couldn't stifle their giggles. Behind his hand, Parksinson's face turned even redder. The Ravenclaw girl dutifuly arrived at his side, attempting to hook her hand under his elbow, but he shook her off impatiently. He staggered to his feet and glared at MC and Sebastian before he marched away, muttering a stream of curses.
With the subject of their lesson now notably absent, Professor Howin promptly called an end to the class and they began to trapse back to the castle. Sebastian and MC walked together, shoulders brushing.
"It was very good of you to defend my honour like that," Sebastian remarked. "That punch was much better than anything I could have come up with."
"Yes, well, I've never been able to stand that prat. Been itching to do that since last year," she replied, flexing her now aching hand. She'd apparently managed to injure herself in the process.
She sucked in a surprised breath when Sebastian gently cradled her injured hand in his own, running his thumb soothingly over her stinging knuckles. She looked up, her eyes meeting his.
"I'll be sure to find a way to express my gratitude,"  he commented, eyes twinkling with mischief in a way that made her heart flip. An abundance of scenarios came immediately to mind as to just how he could thank her, but she buried those thoughts deep.
"You really are amazing, you know that?" He continued, looking at her with such sincerity that her mind struggled to form words. He was so close, and his lips looked incredibly soft.
But then Sebastian's eyes became unfocussed as he clocked something over her shoulder and he smirked, releasing her hand and taking a step back.  "Watch out, I think your number one fan is on their way."
"Wha - ?" She didn't get to finish before something small and solid collided full speed with her waist, forcing the air from her lungs.
"Oh, MC, that was simply marvelous! I wish I had your courage; I would have done that a thousand times over by now," Poppy enthused, hugging her tightly.
"It was my pleasure, Poppy," MC replied, still catching her breath, for more reasons than one.
---
Sebastian wasted no time filling his best friend in on the day's events whilst in their dorm room.
"...and then, Ominis, she punched him, square in the face!" Sebastian enthused, unable to contain his euphoria.
"She what?!" Ominis spluttered, pausing as he rummaged through his bag.
"I know!" Sebastian answered, laughing. He threw himself back onto his bed with a blissful sigh. "Honestly, I couldn't believe it, but I think it might just be the best thing I have ever seen. She's incredible."
Ominis scoffed, but smiled all the same. "You're both utterly mad. You deserve each other, honestly."
Tumblr media
1st August, 1900
Dear Miss Y/L/N,
I hope this letter finds you well. In case you hadn’t heard, Professor Bai Howin has chosen to retire from teaching this year, leaving the position of Professor for our Beasts class open. Professor Howin has submitted a glowing recommendation for why you should be the one to take over her position. We could not think of a better person to take over this class, considering your exploits to handle the country’s poachers. Please reply at your earliest convenience to let us know if you are interested in the position.
I look forward to hearing from you soon,
Matilda Weasley, Deputy Headmistress
7th August, 1900
Dear Professor Weasley,
While I’m saddened to hear Professor Howin will be retiring, it brings me great joy to know she advocated for me to be her replacement. I humbly accept your offer to be the new Professor of Beasts.
I look forward to seeing you soon,
Y/N Y/L/N
9th August, 1900
Dear Miss Y/L/N,
We are delighted to hear your acceptance to join the faculty at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as our Beasts Professor. As I am sure you are aware, the term starts on September 1st, but feel free to arrive earlier. We look forward to seeing you again.
Yours sincerely,
Matilda Weasley (Deputy Headmistress)
Poppy was watching her expectantly from across the kitchen table, practically sitting on the edge of her seat as she waited for Y/N to finish reading the latest letter.
“Well?”
“I got the job,” Y/N laughed as Poppy jumped up to hug her. “I don’t know why you’re acting like it’s a surprise, they practically handed it to me.”
“We celebrate every accomplishment in this house,” Poppy reminded her as she pulled away. “Oh, we should tell Imelda! She’s going to be so happy for you.”
“Happy I’m not risking my life and limbs anymore, you mean,” Y/N stretched her right leg out carefully. A well-aimed diffindo had been shot at her a couple of weeks back by a particularly angry poacher, and even though the wounds had healed (thanks to a lot of essence of Dittany) she had been left with a nasty scar and a slight throb in her thigh if she did too much.
“Yes well, I’d love to say at least you’ll be safer at Hogwarts but…”
“Considering my track record it’s probably not true?” Y/N finished the sentence with a teasing smile. “Don’t worry Poppy, I promise not to get into too much trouble.”
“I take it you don’t know who the Potions Professor has been for the past few years then.”
“Sharp retired?”
“He took a sabbatical to do some consultation work with the Aurors and decided he preferred dark wizards over teenagers.”
“Who took over from him?”
“Sebastian.”
“Sebastian?” Y/N’s hand stilled as she reached for her coffee mug. “As in Sebastian Sallow?”
“Do you know any other Sebastians?” Poppy gave her a coy smile as she took a sip of her tea.
“I’m surprised Sharp let him take over.”
“It was a rather begrudging handover, but apparently he’s doing quite well and is a favourite amongst the students. Although that could just be because half of the girls have a crush on him.”
“Ah yes,” Y/N rolled her eyes playfully. “The infamous Sallow charm.”
“Remember it all too well, do you?”
“Don’t start, Poppy.” Y/N sighed but there was a small smile playing on the corners of her mouth as she thought about her former housemate and close friend. The first few years after they all graduated Hogwarts Y/N had kept in touch regularly with the friends she had made, but as it often does life got in the way and the contact became less and less frequent. It was hard to keep in touch with someone when she was off-grid for weeks at a time when scouting out poacher camps, and if she didn’t live and work with Poppy she doubted the brunette would be next to her either.
They still got together for the larger life events - they had all attended Ominis and Anne’s wedding a few years ago, and went out to celebrate when Imelda snagged a spot on the Holyhead Harpies - but it had been a while since she had seen them all. She missed Anne’s baby shower the year before; although if she had it her way she would have much rather been there as opposed to in a hospital cot in Saint Mungo’s with a decent chunk of her left arm missing (another scar ran across her forearm diagonally, but the Healers had done an excellent job to regrow the limb, and she was left with no pain in the arm whatsoever).
Y/N couldn’t help but smile as her thoughts drifted to Sebastian and the mischief they used to get up to when they were at school. Sneaking into the Restricted Section had become one of their favourite pastimes after the events of their fifth year, if only to say that they still could. She supposed they would have to behave themselves now that they were both Professors.
“I know that smile. Tell me again how you’re not going to get into any trouble this year?” Poppy laughed at the look on her face.
“Oh, shut up.”
