Back Soon; Driving—
BY CARL PHILLIPS
The way the present cuts into history, or how the future can look at first like the past sweeping through, there are blizzards, and there are blizzards. Some contain us; some we carry within us until they die, when we do. The snow falls there, barely snowing, into a long wooden trough where the cattle feed on those apples we used to call medieval, or I did, for their smallish size, as if medieval meant the world in miniature but not so different otherwise from our own, just smaller, a bit sweeter, more prone therefore to rot quickly, which is maybe not the worst thing. Revelation is not disclosure. I love how the snow, taking itself now more seriously, makes the cattle look softer, for a moment, than their hard bodies are.

All the light we cannot see - #Netflix Series Review
Series on #Netflix #AllTheLightWeCannotSee is WWII era series. "In life, you must never hide who you are but in war, being unseen can keep you alive".
Currently running series on @Netflix “All The Light We Cannot See” is adapted by screenwriter Steven Knight from Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Anthony Doerr and is directed by Shawn Levy. The book was fascinating and in comparison, I found the mini series a bit flat and insipid. Perhaps had I not read the book then the series would have held more interest for me.  During August, 1944 the…

just finished reading the Age of Innocence and the last line that Archer speaks to himself, sitting on the bench outside Madame Olenska’s Paris balcony after not seeing her in almost 30 years has left me unwell.
“It’s more real to me here than if I went up.”
Cancel all my calls. I will be bedridden for several days. thanks.

Is it obvious that english isn't my first language? Does the run on sentenced and zero grasp of grammar give it away? Is my sentences clunky and un-readable? Is my word choices weird and unsual?

Hello! Do you have any recommendations of books to cry to? Not necessarily sad books, anything emotional. I just need to cry about something that’s not ny actual life!!
golly, tall order without knowing what you like or what makes you cry! but i’ll give it a shot. the vaster wilds by lauren groff, which is historical; the naming song by jedediah berry, which is fantasy; be holding by ross gay, which is poetry. all published within the last few years and deeply felt.
the one book i’ve never finished because it stirs up too much emotion in me even though i love it is the shell collector by anthony doerr, which is a book of short stories.
if you tend more YA-ish i like code name verity by elizabeth wein and a tree grows in brooklyn by betty smith.
i feel like this is a deeply random grouping but i tried to cast a wide net. i hope something here looks interesting!
