Desi!yuu and Jamil (part 1)
Jamil: This dish is something that you made! Yuu: No, it made it self!...Of course I made it you fool! Jamil: But...I thought.... Yuu: That what? Kalim wouldn't go crazy for anyone else's food because he has yours. Jamil: ( with a scowl) yes No, I just need the recipe and I'll be on my way becau- Yuu: ( slamming the door on his face) No.
The context here is that Kalim falls in love with Yuu's dum aloo ( a desi dish that's vegetarian (made of potatoes )) and refuses to eat any of Jamils remakes ( it's nice but it is not the same!). Jamil comes to find out he tried this mystery dish from Yuu's lunch box, which leads us to the present conversation.

𑚞𑚮𑚣𑚭 𑚝𑚭 𑚑𑚭, 𑚝𑚭 𑚑𑚭, 𑚑𑚢𑚱 𑚤𑚲 𑚞𑚩𑚭𑚪 𑚠𑚱𑚛𑚭𑚫 𑚠𑚤𑚨 𑚤𑚩𑚮𑚣𑚭𑚫 𑚩𑚆~
“My love, don’t go, there are raindrops (bullets) falling in Jammu’s mountains.”
This is one of my very favourite sad songs. It follows the story of a soldier who is posted in Jammu. His wife is singing for him, saying that it is raining (bullets) in Jammu and asking him not to go and leave her. This is what war does. It takes away people and peace.
The metaphor behind this song is that anyone listening will image raindrops falling, when in reality it’s not water drops but firing of guns.
𑚙𑚲𑚤𑚲 𑚠𑚮𑚝𑚭 𑚊𑚲𑚚𑚯 𑚢𑚲𑚤𑚭 𑚑𑚯 𑚝𑚂𑚣𑚴 𑚥𑚌𑚛𑚭, 𑚙𑚙𑚭 𑚙𑚙𑚭 𑚝𑚯𑚤 𑚢𑚲𑚤𑚯 𑚀𑚸𑚮𑚣𑚭𑚫 𑚙𑚴 𑚦𑚌𑚛𑚭
She says, “tere bina kaithi mera jee naiyo lagda”. It strikes the heart. “Tata tata neer meri ankhiyan ton wagda”.
“My heart is restless without you, so that warm water falls down from my eyes.”
𑚙𑚲𑚤𑚲 𑚠𑚮𑚝𑚭 𑚞𑚮𑚣𑚭 𑚢𑚲𑚤𑚭 𑚩𑚴𑚤 𑚝𑚭 𑚊𑚴𑚃, 𑚀𑚢𑚭 𑚠𑚭𑚞𑚱 𑚐𑚖𑚯 𑚊𑚲 𑚢𑚳𑚫 𑚙𑚲𑚤𑚯 𑚩𑚴𑚃
In the second verse, she says, “Amma Bapu chhadi ke main teri hoi.” She’s left her parents and family for him yet he has to leave her helpless here. And I can’t help but think of thousands of such people who have to lose their loved ones to war.

A family of musicians (father and daughters) from the Indian Punjab (the Land of the Five Rivers for the ancient Persians or Pentapotamia for the ancient Greeks). I have travelled there twice and I love Punjabi culture.

Oooh, thanks Pandora for reminding me of this band.
Alien Weaponry is a New Zealand metal band from Waipu, formed in Auckland in 2010. The band consists of drummer Henry de Jong, guitarist Lewis de Jong, and since August 2020, bass player Tūranga Morgan-Edmonds. All three members have Māori ancestry and a number of their songs are written and performed in the Māori language.
I love metal stuff that leans into the folk traditions that the importing country holds.

Bhangra is a form of music and dance that has its origins in the Punjab region of Pakistan and India. Bhangra dance began as a folk culture conducted by farmers to celebrate the coming of spring, a time known to be the Vaisakhi time.
