i feel like. the more i like and care about something. the less i am capable of watching video essays about it. game i never heard of and don't intend to ever play? sure i'll watch 8hrs discussing it's flaws.

but thing i like? if you think you can point out flaws i'm not already aware of, you are dead wrong. none know better how much my interests suck than me.

and also. if you get one thing wrong about them i'll maul you. with things i like it means i've already seen every single piss on the poor take of it ever, and i'm much more polarized. i got emotional investment. i'm going to start biting people.

once again thinking about sqq unintenionally becoming a harem master in the eyes of can qiong and civilians.

it starts off with him saving one of binghe's future wives because ! she was one of the more interesting wives !! with powers that ariplane retconned in later chapters for no reason !!!!!!

"What a sweet girl," Shen Qingqiu murmurs as he opened the thank you package delivered to him because she wanted to thank the immortal master for saving her from a beast that in PIDW had traumatized her into becoming a recluse.

Shen Qingqiu hums as he touches the new hand-painted fan. Sweat begins beading on his neck at the murderous glare his white lotus Binghe was directing at the object in his hands.

This master is sorry, Binghe, but this fan is too precious to throw!

Shen Qingqiu clears his throat, "It would be good if she sends more gifts," to her future husband Binghe, of course.

That way, his sweet bun realizes that this was nothing more but a gift to her father-in-law. Aiya, why is the glare even worse?

a week later, sqq saves another wife by complete coincidence on a trip down to the village. she insists on joining him back to cang qiong and sqq gives in because of how persistent she was.

binghe breaks the plate of snacks he was holding when he bumps into them.

sqq: oh shit binghe's jealous. quick gotta send her his way and make them spend more time together

and then the lady just asks him about sqq and whether he's married single looking for someone.

and it keeps happening. sqq isn't sure either why he's meeting all these future wives. maybe the system wanted him to give his future approval? the system was being a bitch and seemed to enjoy his confusion over the way events had been continuously unfolding.

but then one of binghe's sly wives—a scammer who airplane contradictorily describes as pure-hearted at her core—comes up to him one day and tells him, "I have your baby."

And she shamelessly does it in front of the whole cang qiong delegation.

Shen Qingqiu doesn't know where or who the shrill keening sound was coming from.

So I've finally committed myself to trying other danmei—after hyper fixating on the MXTX trio for the past 3-4 years—and need help deciding on what to read next...

it’s kind of funny that of all the coping mechanisms we’ve seen in aftg (mostly some combination of drugs, self-harm, violence and sex), neil’s coping mechanism of going for a long run plus the occasional cigarette, might be technically the healthiest. he even practices techniques to calm himself down regularly (counting).

✧・creating a personal library system that actually works゜✧・゜✧

hey lovelies!

so last weekend i had a complete meltdown when i couldn't find my copy of "pride and prejudice" (the one with all my notes!) and ended up reorganizing my entire book collection at 2am. classic me behavior. but honestly? it was the best decision i've made in ages because now i actually know where everything is and i'm not buying duplicate books anymore (yes, i somehow owned three copies of "the bell jar"… don't ask).

i thought i'd share my super simple system for keeping track of my little library in case any of you are drowning in books too!

⋆.ೃ࿔:･ the physical organization ･:.ೃ࿔

i tried organizing by color once and while it looked pretty on instagram, it was literally impossible to find anything. so now i do a mix of these categories that actually makes sense for how i use my books:

favorites shelf - these are my ride-or-die books that i reread constantly and want to grab easily

to-be-read shelf - keeps all my unread books in one place so they don't get lost in the mix

read-but-keeping shelf - books i've finished but want to hold onto

reference section - cookbooks, style guides, etc that i need to access quickly

borrowed books corner - a special spot just for books that aren't mine so i actually remember to return them (sorry to everyone waiting for their books back…)

within each section, i organize alphabetically by author because i'm basic like that. but honestly it works!

⋆.ೃ࿔:･ the tracking system ･:.ೃ࿔.

this is the game changer! i used to rely on my memory (lol) to keep track of what i'd read until i found myself 50 pages into a book before realizing i'd already read it. now i use:

a simple reading journal - nothing fancy, just a notebook where i write the title, author, when i started/finished it, and a few thoughts

sticky flags in different colors - blue for beautiful quotes, pink for plot points i want to remember, yellow for things to research later

the inside cover trick - i write the date i finished the book and a tiny heart rating (♥♥♥♥♥) system on the inside cover

a digital backup - i use storygraph (not goodreads all the time because amazon owns enough of my life) to keep a digital record

if you're like me and constantly lending books to friends (or borrowing them), this will save your friendships:

a dedicated "lending library" note in my phone with who has what and when they borrowed it

book plates that say "borrowed from mindy's library" (these were like $8 online and so worth it)

a rule that i only lend books i'm okay with never seeing again (learned this one the hard way)

⋆.ೃ࿔:･ the "did i already read this?" solution ･:.ೃ࿔

this was my biggest problem! now i:

take a quick photo of books i read but don't keep (like library books)

keep a "books i've read" list in my notes app for quick reference while browsing bookstores

add a tiny dot on the upper right corner of the first page of books i own and have finished

it's not a perfect system but it's simple enough that i actually stick with it! the key is finding what works for your reading habits rather than trying to create some instagram-perfect color-coded situation that you'll abandon after a week.

Bardo as a Transitional Space in Teen Wolf

Transcending Madness: The Experience of the Six Bardos by Chögyam Trungpa

The first time we’re introduced to bardo within the Teen Wolf canon is in Anchors when Kira brings it up to the pack as an explanation for the things they’re going through after sacrificing themselves to the Nemeton. The idea of an in-between place between living and dying is brought up within the story multiple times after that with the main two being in Time of Death when Kira slows Scott’s heart until he is basically dead, this results in him having violent dreams throughout the episode; and in Heartless after Theo is brought back from the skin walker realm and the episode opens with an exploration of his experiences underground. In all of these instances the character in focus is transitioning from one stage of being to another or coming to terms with something from their past which they have yet to deal with. 

For Allison in 3b her bardo experience becomes a way to deal with her familial trauma, she sees hallucinations of Kate and enters fugue states wherein she acts violently or threatens the supernaturals around her. Her hallucinations of Kate also tries to push her towards further violence forcing Allison to come to terms with who her family (particularly Kate and Gerard) wanted her to be. Kate is who Allison would have become if not for the rest of the pack there to pull her back from the ledge. Allison is able to break free of her bardo experience by reminding herself of the new code she created at the end of 3a “we protect those who cannot protect themselves” which in itself is derivative of the Argent family’s original code “we hunt those who hunt us” it’s not a way to hide from the past and her previous actions, instead it’s a way to acknowledge them and vow to be better in the future. 

Stiles’ bardo experience is not contained to the first two episodes of 3b like Allison’s is. He breaks through the initial realm at the same time as her but the same problems he faces during the initial experience carries over into the rest of the season during the nogitsune possession. It is also important here to note that the “symptoms” of the initial bardo experience are cognitive, he becomes incapable of differentiating between dreams and reality with the main indicator being his inability to read. Language problems are a common symptom of frontotemporal dementia and it’s not uncommon for dementia patients to have difficulty differentiating dreams and reality. The whole season, which is ripe with the undercurrent of the disease which killed his mother, becomes a bardo experience which functions as a way for Stiles to come to terms with losing his mother at such a young age. 

Scott enters a bardo realm twice within the show. The second time functions as a continuation of the first. During his first experience he becomes incapable of controlling his shift, it forces itself onto him throughout the two episodes and he refuses to make the conscious decision to shift out of fear that he will become stuck there and become more monster than human. His second experience is a dreamscape wherein he is initially pushed to kill the Mute and it results in him killing Liam with a tomahawk. In 3b it follows immediately after he becomes an alpha himself, the alpha who turned him was a werewolf who was no longer in control of himself, Peter was an alpha who acted purely on instinct and a vision for revenge. Derek, who despite being a close friend of Scott’s wasn’t a good alpha, he quickly got caught up in the power of being an alpha and ended up taking it out on those around him. This bardo experience also follows Scott’s interactions with the alpha pack, all of whom became power hungry and cruel to anyone they deem beneath them. Scott doesn’t want to become an alpha like them but he’s unsure if there’s any other way to be an alpha which doesn’t revolve around letting the animal side take over. His second bardo experience follows him biting and turning Liam, he has taken the final step into being an alpha and he can no longer kid himself that he isn’t one. This is also further underlined when the dream sequence result in the death of Liam. Scott feels as though he metaphorically killed Liam with the bite and took away his ability to be a normal person, something he hadn’t wanted to do after he went through it himself. Both of these bardo experiences serve as spaces wherein Scott has to come to terms with the changes to himself and his status as a werewolf. 

Heartless opens with a sequence of Theo repeatedly waking up in a morgue drawer in the hospital’s morgue where his sister then chases him and takes back the heart he stole from her. It’s important to note that from a production standpoint this sequence is very repetitive, the viewer sees the same thing happen to Theo for five minutes until the credits roll. This helps drive home the point of timelessness in this particular bardo realm as Theo has been trapped there going through this for months at this point. Forced to live through being chased and attacked by his sister for eternity. Forced to come to terms with the things he did under the Dread Doctors and forced to realize who he can be without them. The sequence ends when Tara captures him and instead of attempting to placate her to avoid the inevitable he says “It’s okay. You don’t have to stop.” This marks the point in which he gets to a place of peace with his past actions and can learn to move on.

It’s never okay to lock a headmate away, never. They could be the worst person in the world, you still shouldn’t lock them away. There’s a difference between keeping headmates away from eachother and taking away someone’s privacy, free will and connections. You are abandoning that headmate, you are telling them that they are not worth helping, that they don’t deserve to get better. If talking it out doesn’t work for them there are other options, I’d recommend giving them their own space to speak their mind without threat of mistreatment for it, for starters. If someone really doesn’t want help don’t force it on them, just let them know it’s always an option and leave it at that. -Ange

siffrin can't stand repetition after the loops, so they like to change things up every day, as a reminder of being out of the loops. this includes clothing, but all of their outfits are mostly just different sets of the same form-fitting shirt and pants that he wears underneath his cloak. so he borrows mirabelle's clothes/swaps outfits with her, since they have similar builds, for the first few days/weeks out of the loops until they can get new clothing
