Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who was one of just 23 House Democrats to vote against the bill, gave an impassioned floor speech on the issue.
“This is a mass starvation of people, engineered and orchestrated following the killing of another 30,000, 70 percent of whom were women and children killed. There is hardly a single hospital left. And this was all accomplished, much of this accomplished, with US resources and weapons,” said the congresswoman.
“If you want to know what an unfolding genocide looks like, open your eyes,” she continued. “It looks like the forced famine of 1.1 million innocents. It looks like thousands of children eating grass as their bodies consume themselves, while trucks of food are slowed and halted just miles away. It looks like good and decent people who do nothing, or too little, too late.”
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) also gave a House floor speech.”Israeli government has been intentionally starving the Palestinian people” she said, “..Members here – all of them – are now going to be contributing to the starvation of Palestinian families.”

A caucus affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), a left-wing political organization that counts members of the US Congress among its ranks, has issued a public endorsement of the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.
The Red Star Caucus, a self-described “Marxist revolutionary” faction of the DSA, published an article on Friday glorifying the actions of Hamas, an Islamist organization that launched the war in Gaza on Oct. 7 by slaughtering more than 1,200 people throughout southern Israel. The caucus argued that lending support to the terrorist group is necessary to secure “Palestinian liberation.”
“To support a resistance without Hamas is to support something which does not exist. It is to support no resistance at all,” the group wrote. “And in turn, to spend our time on criticism of Hamas as an organization validates the widespread opinion that Hamas is an existential danger (too extreme for even the communists!) and lends credence to Israel’s justification of its onslaught. When we hear every anti-Palestinian group call for the destruction of Hamas, do we lend our voices to those calls, or stand with Palestine and its resistance?”
The group added that support for Hamas’ genocidal ambitions against Israel are necessary to secure a socialist future.
“We must recognize what our struggle for socialism entails, and who our allies are. Those allies will be the resistance movements which actually exist, the opponents of capitalism and imperialism around the world!” the Red Star Caucus added.
The Democratic Socialists of America, one of the country’s premier leftist political advocacy organizations, has mobilized in recent years to elect anti-Israel members to Congress. Influential lawmakers such as US Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Greg Casar (D-TX), and Cori Bush (D-MO) are all current members of the socialist organization. Others such as Reps. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) and Summer Lee (D-PA) are former members.
None of these lawmakers responded to The Algemeiner‘s request for comment on the Red Star Caucus’s endorsement of Hamas.
However, Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY), a staunch supporter of Israel, slammed the Red Star Caucus as “antisemitic” on X/Twitter.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), New York's millennial congresswoman, believes herself the barometer of progressive morality. But by reframing Jesus as akin to Palestinian terrorists fighting Israel, she instead cloaks herself in a mantle of ignorance and moral confusion.
Conflating political and religious fervor, AOC took to Instagram on Christmas Eve to opine, "In the story of Christmas, Christ was born in modern-day Palestine under the threat of a government engaged in the mass genocide of innocents. He was part of a targeted population being indiscriminately killed to protect an unjust leader's power," she wrote. "Thousands of years later, right-wing forces are violently occupying Bethlehem as similar stories unfold for today's Palestinians, so much so that the Christian community in Bethlehem has canceled this year's Christmas Eve celebrations."
"The entire story of Christmas and Christ himself is about standing with the poor and powerless, the marginalized and maligned, the refugees and immigrants, the outcast and misunderstood, without exception," she added.
Where to begin?
Christians have little say about whether Bethlehem holds Christmas celebrations. In 1950, Christians made up approximately 86% of the population of Bethlehem and its surrounding villages. That share of the population stayed relatively steady until Israel handed the Palestinian Authority control over Bethlehem, and then the proportion of Christians plummeted. Today, barely 13% of Bethlehem's residents are Christian. At issue was the Palestinian Authority's deep discrimination against Christians. When Muslim families moved to Bethlehem and forcibly took over Christian property, for example, the Palestinian Authority did nothing to evict the Islamist squatters, even when judges sided with the Christians.
Palestinian terrorists in Bethlehem developed the tactics that Hamas later applied in Gaza. In 2002, for example, Palestinian terrorists seized the Church of the Nativity, barricading themselves in the holy site and stealing the priests' and nuns' food and water. They essentially sought to use the sensitive, civilian site as a shield to wage war. The Palestinian gunmen desecrated the church during the six-week siege. An Israeli sniper killed one, a most-wanted terrorist, after he began firing an automatic weapon from within the church. Terrorists then set fire to a neighboring building. The siege ended after six weeks with the evacuation of some terrorists to Gaza and the remainders to Europe.
Christians in Gaza fared even worse under Hamas. Just like the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, Hamas imposed its extremist interpretations on Christians. It forced women to veil, banned alcohol, and sought forcibly to convert children. While Islamist propagandists note that Islam, unlike Judaism, considers Jesus a prophet, they punish Christians who suggest Jesus to be the son of God who died for mankind's sins. In 2006, 5,000 Christians lived in Gaza. Within a decade, that number declined by 80%.
Put aside her whitewashing of terror. AOC and her fellow travelers lack basic understanding of history. Jews were the indigenous population of the territory Romans renamed Palestine. Jesus was born a Jew, his last supper was a Passover Seder, and he died a Jew. Therefore, when progressive pundit Cenk Uygur posts, "If Jesus returned to the place of his birth, could he survive the night? Or would he be just another Palestinian casualty?" he is half right. Should Jesus reappear today in Bethlehem, he likely would not survive the night because, as a Jew, he would be subject to Palestinian lynching.
If AOC truly understood Christianity, she would realize that Jesus would not stand for the rape of girls and women, or the beheading and burning of children. Jesus preached love and compassion, not hostage-taking and terror. She would pray for the release of hostages and the end to terror, not peace under Hamas's yoke. If AOC understood history, she would realize Israel is the nation of migrants and refugees. While Jews are indigenous and always lived in the territory, it was the slaughter of Jews in Europe and the mass expulsion of Jews in Arab lands that led to a population influx, and that many Palestinians migrated from Syria as Jews transformed the land.
Politics should never trump principle. Unfortunately, for AOC they do. Embrace of Hamas principles condemns Jews, Christians, and moderate Muslims to pay the price.

It has been just seven months since Republican governors at the border put New York City’s commitment to being a “sanctuary city” for illegal immigrants to the test. Already, the Big Apple has now conceded defeat.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, announced that the city will be relocating illegal immigrants across the country after months of complaints that the city’s resources were being strained. The policy briefing that details Adams’s plan claims that “as of March 2023, there were 79,937 people in shelter placement in New York City. … This is due in large part to the influx of newcomers. Our shelter system is full, and we are running out of funds, staff, and space.”
URBAN DECAY: THE BIG (ROTTEN) APPLE
Therefore, New York City will now start busing illegal immigrants to other areas of the country. It’s a far cry from Adams’s sanctimonious campaign statements. According to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and other left-wing activists, it may even be “trafficking.”
Tumblr media
It took just around seven months and tens of thousands of illegal immigrants to break New York City’s convictions about being a sanctuary city. Compare that to the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants crossing the southern border every month and being settled in much smaller border towns in Texas and Arizona and it is clear that calling yourself a sanctuary city is a luxury you can only afford when you know you don’t need to shoulder the burden of a border crisis.
Adams is waving the white flag on New York City’s commitment to being a sanctuary city. He may object to that framing, but he has admitted that the city cannot, and now will not, take care of illegal immigrants if even just a few thousand of them show up. It is a “first-come, first-served” sanctuary that thinks fewer than 3,000 new arrivals is an “unprecedented surge.” Republicans should not let him, or any Democratic mayor, forget it.

Arthur Delaney at HuffPost:
WASHINGTON — The House Oversight Committee fell into chaos Thursday night after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) made an offhand remark about Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas). Crockett and Greene got into it almost right away, with Crockett suggesting Greene didn’t understand the purpose of the hearing. “I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading,” Greene said. An uproar ensued, with Committee chair James Comer (R-Ky.) calling for order, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) demanding the committee “take down” Greene’s words, essentially reprimanding her for insulting another lawmaker.
“That is absolutely unacceptable, how dare you attack the physical appearance of another person,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Are your feelings hurt?” Greene said. Comer soon suspended the hearing for several minutes so lawmakers could confer with their parliamentary experts, and Greene agreed to “strike” her words, but she refused to apologize, and then she and Ocasio-Cortez resumed their back-and-forth. “Come on guys,” Comer pleaded. “Why don’t you debate me?” Greene said. “I think it’s self-evident,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Yeah, you don’t have enough intelligence,” Greene responded. Eventually, after several more minutes of parliamentary arguing, the committee voted to allow Greene to finish her allotted speaking time. But Crockett wasn’t finished.
“I’m just curious, just to better understand your ruling,” Crockett said. “If someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleach blonde, bad built, butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) turns yet another House Oversight Committee meeting into chaos, as she got into it with Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), who wasn’t having any of MTG’s antics. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) made a motion to demand the committee strip out MTG’s words, and she continued to act like a belligerent clown.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is pushing back on CNN CEO Chris Licht’s defense of the network’s handling of a town hall event with former President Trump this week.
“Making news” is not the same as covering news. When one wishes to become a participant in events (ie. “making” news), they become the story and sacrifice the pretense of a neutral observer,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote in a tweet on Thursday. “Also no one got answers. It was 70 mins of steamrolled propaganda, esp on abortion & SA.”

AOC on David Grusch: "The allegations of reprisal and culture is actually a primary concern"
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez(D-NY) is a leading voice on the House Oversight Committee. Last July, after questioning UFO whistleblower David Grusch , AOC exclusively told Ask a Pol the public hearing raised more questions — “particularly, around defense contracting and transparency from the Pentagon” — than it answered.

Two weeks after that video went viral, AOC gave a speech on the floor of the U.S. House and accused Israel of genocide.
Now, just as she did then, AOC is attempting to explain how she can be staunchly anti-Israel and anti-antisemitism at the same time:
Pro-Hamas Online Mob Rips AOC For Condemning Antisemitic Agitators at Nova Festival Exhibit
“The callousness, dehumanization, and targeting of Jews on display at last night’s protest outside the Nova Festival exhibit was atrocious antisemitism – plain and simple.”
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) received heat from the rabid pro-Hamas mob when she condemned recent displays of antisemitism in New York City after spending months criticizing Israel and sticking up for her antisemitic colleagues.
AOC tried to save face, but the mob didn’t relent. Those on the other side saw right through her.
Background
In the months since the October 7th Hamas terrorist attacks, there has been an alarming rise in incidents of antisemitic expression and attacks worldwide as anti-Israel extremists, emboldened by so-called elected leaders and their media enablers, have shed their masks to show us who they really are.
Being home to the largest population of Jewish people in the United States, New York City, in particular, has become a hotbed of antisemitism, with reports of antisemitic incidents now a near-daily occurrence.
Such was the scene Monday night where, during the Nova Music Festival Exhibition, pro-Hamas activists participated in a “day of rage,” showing support for terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah while lighting flares and severely disrupting the somber event with hate-filled chants:
A mob of anti-Israel protesters chanted “Long live the Intifada” during a depraved celebration Monday night outside a downtown Manhattan exhibit that memorializes the murder and rape victims of the Oct. 7 Nova Music Festival, where 364 people were killed by Hamas terrorists. The deranged pro-terror crowd lit flares and waved a flag associated with the Iran-backed Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah in front of the Nova Music Festival Exhibition on Wall Street during what was billed by organizers as a “citywide day of rage for Gaza,” according to video from the scene. The protesters also yelled “Israel go to hell” and clashed with police during the gathering that drew swift backlash from Israel supporters. The demonstration, organized by pro-Palestinian group Within Our Lifetime, began in Union Square, where some protesters unfurled a “Long live October 7th” banner, according to social media footage.
The ADL shared this photo and wrote:
Protestors are currently shouting “Long live the intifada” outside the @novaexhibition in NYC, which memorializes the 364 people massacred by Hamas terrorists at the Nova Festival on 10/7. For anyone still questioning what this slogan means, look no further – it’s support for terrorism and justification for brutal violence against Jews and Israelis. Protestors are also holding signs that say “Zionists are not Jews & not humans.” This is a textbook example of antisemitic dehumanization – and it’s sickening.
There are lots of Twitter/X links in this story, here. AOC is trying to play both sides, pretending to care about the antisemitism she helped foster.

Out bisexual Nebraska state Sen. Megan Hunt, who has helped filibuster transphobic legislation in her state, has switched her party affiliation from Democratic to independent.
Hunt has switched because of the media’s hyper-focus on party affiliation and “the lack of support” from national groups — like Emily’s List or the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee — for “liberal candidates in conservative-dominated states,” the Lincoln Journal Star reported.
“The parties are not the future,” Hunt told the publication. “The political dysfunction is extreme and at the national level, the parties are ideologically bankrupt.”
Hunt said her party switch isn’t a reflection of her state’s Democratic leadership and said that her politics would remain on the progressive left. Rather, she accused national groups of taking credit for the legislative accomplishments of progressive politicians in red states, like her, while not financially supporting those candidates.
She also pointed out that in Nebraska’s unique one-chamber legislature, party affiliation matters less than in other states. Leadership roles are determined by a chamber-wide vote, and committee assignments are “divided evenly among Nebraska’s three congressional districts rather than by which party is in the majority,” the aforementioned publication noted.
As such, when national media focus on Nebraskan politicians’ political affiliation, Hunt feels it doesn’t accurately reflect what’s happening in her legislature and also poisons her colleagues’ relationships with one another.
“That totally misrepresents who I am, what I believe, who my colleagues are, and how things work here, and I don’t want my name to be used to contribute to the problem, to continue a narrative that is lazy and inaccurate,” Hunt said.
In a statement to the Lincoln Journal Star, Jane Kleeb, chair of the Nebraska Democratic Party, said, “I, like many liberals, are pushing our Democratic Party constantly from the inside working to build the infrastructure and message across the state. We respect the choices of politicians to decide if our party fits them or not.”
Commenting on Hunt’s party switch, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) wrote on the new social media app BlueSky, “I think it’s brave — people often complain about the 2 party system, but it starts at the state level. She’s trying to educate people on [Nebraska’s system] and how their landscape allows for this. [In my opinion] most 3rd party [conversations] can be unserious [because] they don’t grapple [with] reality. So this is interesting to see.”
State Sen. Hunt has been one of several Nebraskan senators who have filibustered the so-called “Let Them Grow Act,” a law that would block minors from accessing gender-affirming care. Age-appropriate gender-affirming care is supported by major medical organizations like the American Medical Association, American Psychological Association, and American Academy of Pediatrics.
Hunt has been put under investigation by the Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission (NADC) for a possible conflict of interest because she has a transgender child.
State law requires that public officials and employees disclose potential conflicts of interest, but this refers to when a decision could have “a financial benefit or detriment to the public official or public employee, a member of his or her immediate family or business with which he or she is associated.”
Hunt disavowed the investigation.
“This, colleagues, is not serious,” she said. “This is harassment. This is using the legal system that we have in our state to stop corruption, to increase transparency, to hold government accountable, and using it to harass a member of the legislature, who you all know is trying to do the right thing, is trying to parent her child in a way that keeps that child alive, in a way that keeps that child successful in school and with friends and healthy.”
Both Republican and Democratic lawmakers in Nebraska are standing up for Hunt. “My colleagues stood up offering support, but I don’t need their words. I need their vote,” she said.
