Blackbeatd-’stays mostly to his cabin’ ‘he don’t really come out’ 

Blackbeard comes out his cabin, heavy footsteps on the floor, encased in smoke, hidden in shadow. 

Blaclbeard shown to be magic, controlling rope, tripping and hanging crew by pointing his sword

‘Bedside table pharmacy’ - Chloe Haynes

These are my outcomes from our workshop with Can Yang on the 26/04/2023. I created a book out of medication boxes and medication leaflets. I bound these using a signature stitch. I really enjoyed this workshop as I have previously enjoyed experimenting with book binding using traditional materials, however, this pushed me further by using unconventional materials to create a book.

Concepts of Visual Language – Create initial ideas for the subject of my brief. 

EPM – Refine UX for app, Combine UX and UI elements. Tutorials 

Deadline – Thursday 20th April 9.30 AM – Upload Presentation 

Process book – Experiment with Book size, layouts and binding methods. 

Week 3 

Research project – Zine Workshop. Tutorials. Write 2nd draft 

Concepts of Visual Language – Choose a concept for my brief. Write learning agreement and construct a brief. 

EPM – Make improvements from feedback. 

Process book – Plan out pages for EPM project. Experiment with Layouts and decided a book size and binding method. 

Week 4 

Research Project – Tutorial. References. Write 3rd Draft 

Concepts of Visual Language – Refine learning agreement and brief using feedback from tutorial. Research topic and create initial ideas 

Hand in – Friday 5th May – Learning agreement 

Process book – Print out initial layout for EPM project with text and image. Refine layout and book size. 

Week 5 

Research Project – Refine essay. Check reference list. 

Hand in – Friday 12th May 

Concepts of Visual Language – create mini-Pecha Kuta for Crit. Develop ideas and conduct relevant research. Start generating ideas for final outcome. 

Process book – Finalise EPM project. Start planning out COVL section of Process book. Begin formatting layout. 

Week 6 

Concepts of Visual Language – Start Visualising ideas for final outcome. Conduct relevant research and experiments. Develop ideas using feedback from tutorials. 

Process book – Continue planning out COVL process book. Add content using layouts created for EPM project. 

Week 7 

Concepts of Visual Language – Develop concept for outcome. Conduct relevant research and experiments. Start creating Final outcome. 

Process book – Add content using created layouts. Test print and refine layouts. 

Week 8 

Concepts of Visual Language – Create final outcome. Create a presentation for Final crit.

Process book – Add final sections of process book. Create reference list and Figures. Test print. Refine layouts and design. Print and bind.

Morning – Continue writing first draft for research project. Conduct research to fill in gaps of information and make my argument stronger. 

Afternoon – Continue writing first draft for research project. Reread my draft and make sure it is fluent. 

Evening – Design Buttons and Icons for App, using design elements from existing apps and my team's art style as inspiration. Update Tumblr. 

Wednesday – EPM and Research Project 

Morning – Add references to first draft. Read it and refine it. Send First draft of essay to Konstantina or Sally for feedback. 

Afternoon – Meet up with group to refine app and plan out presentation. 

Evening – Practice Presentation and upload it to the online file.

Evening – Choose 3 topics and conduct initial research to see which Idea has the most potential.

Morning – Digitally experiment with Layouts. Use EPM project content. 

Afternoon – Plan out EPM process book. 

Evening – Research Binding methods. Choose a method that is relvent to the briefs. Plan out next week.

Research Project- Feedback Session 1

This feedback session was extremely helpful and converstational, allowing me to voice my ideas and think of questions surrounding them. From doing so, Sally raised some really informative points about Gen Z in the market, especially surrounding fashion and trends.

This brought me to a couple of insightful ideas around how the fashion industry is loosing its touch when it comes to controlling trends. I highlighted points surrounding this, however i think this is a really interesting topic and direction to indulge in.

- who is your audience? Would your essay make sense to them?

- avoid generic words

- build questions from small everyday observations
