Diavolo grinned and started to pull you out onto the room’s private patio. Leafy trees and stone walls isolated you from other customers without hindering your view of the sky. A slightly raised stone bar was attached to the bath, and on it was a basket of towels, a bottle of Demonus in an ice bucket, and two wine glasses. Next to the bath was a showerhead attached to the tall stone wall. A variety of cool colored Devildom flora were planted around the patio, with a deep violet flower sprouting up near the edge of the bath catching your eye. It was almost a perfect contrast to Diavolo’s eyes.

“What do you think, MC?” Diavolo asked you.

“This is gorgeous, Diavolo! I almost can’t believe I’m in the Devildom,” you stared in awe. He laughed in the face of your honesty before turning your gaze towards him, running his thumb across your lower lip.

Sugar – 1/2 cup of regular white table sugar is perfect for this diy sugar scrub! It exfoliates your skin, gentling rubbing away dead skin cells leaving your skin feeling smooth and radiant. 

Oil – I use 1/4 cup Vitamin E Oil in this recipe which is so good for your skin. Its anti inflammatory properties soothes and calms, while hydrating dry skin and working to heal any blemishes. 

Citrus – Is so good for your body inside and out! Naturally full of vitamin C it leaves your skin with a beautiful glow! It also can help to lighten sun spots or other blemishes on your skin. I love the texture and beautiful color the citrus adds along with its amazingly refreshing scent!  You can use the zest from one Orange, Grapefruit, or Lemon, or 2 Limes, in this recipe.

*** Zest is made from the top layer of a fruit peel. Always try to avoid the white pith. If you don’t have a zester, you can use a vegetable peeler to gently peel the top layer of your fruit. Then cut the strips into finer strips lengthwise, and then again into tiny cubes widthwise.

How to Make Exfoliating Body Scrub

This scrub is so easy to make. It only contains natural ingredients and no artificial food colorings.

Combine sugar and oil.

2. Add zest.

3. Scoop into sealable glass jars.

4. Label and date.

5. Store for up to 3 months in an airtight container.

Variations

This sugar scrub recipe is so easy to customize to fit your needs! 

Citrus Variations – In this recipe I use orange, but any other citrus would work well! In the past, I have used grapefruit, orange, lime, and lemon. They all have worked wonderfully! If using lime I chose to use the zest from 2 limes since they are smaller sized fruit.

Oil Variations – Vitamin E Oil, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Almond Oil, Carrot Oil, Argan Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Grapeseed Oil. 

Sugar Variations – Any white sugar should work well in this recipe. Sugar is used for a gentle exfoliation so keep that in mind when choosing the coarseness of the sugar. 

For a winter sugar scrub try adding a dash of ground cloves or ground cinnamon. 

Add a few drops of essential oils. My favorite combinations include other citrus oils to complement and enhance, floral scents such as moroccan rose or lavender, and woody scents such cedar or rosemary. 

Pro Tip: If using coconut oil, it will help to slightly warm the oil on the stovetop or even the microwave before adding it to the mixture. I love coconut oil and lime combination! 

How to Store Sugar Scrub

This Sugar Scrub recipe can be stored for up to 3 months in a properly sealed jar / airtight container.

It's been a better week. Some good things,

I hit rock bottom last Friday with lack of sleep/grief/anxiety. The sleep aid my psychiatrist prescribed helped get me back on track again, and I've been getting by with my usual magnesium + melatonin + antidepressant for sleep and anxiety since then. I've been feeling like myself again since I started sleeping better.

I had a great three-day weekend. Derek and I had an ice cream date on Saturday at our favorite spot. I got to see @broomchickabroom and @northshoretragedyeagle on Sunday, and my in-laws too. Monday was spent resting and recovering and preparing for work again.

This week was incredibly busy at work, but SO much better than last week. I got to move projects forward, help people, and avoid dealing with the toxic individuals I had to deal with last week.

Related - I'm proud of myself for setting and abiding by boundaries at work and with my mom. The boundaries help make my life more bearable. I'm proud of myself for making choices that lessen my own pain and stress. I'm glad that I've made choices to invest in the things that bring me the most joy and satisfaction at work, and at life - with my core support system of Derek, Westin, and my friends.

I got to virtually hang out with @thatisadamnfinecupofcoffee and @wind-on-the-panes this week! @broomchickabroom and @northshoretragedyeagle also came over for dinner tonight and gave me, AND planted for me, a rose bush and two hostas to rejuvenate my busted and sad-looking yard. <3

I had a couple of really good swims this week. I got a new swimsuit and new running shoes, and having new supplies really does help a lot.

I'm leaving for Greece on Sunday, and I'll be gone for a week. I'm in need of a vacation after the past several months. In the past 5 months, I started a new job with a lot of new responsibilities, and went through bereavement. A lot of life change in a short amount of time. I'm really excited for Greece. I'll spend some time in Athens, but then I'm heading to a few of the Greek islands. I'm looking forward to going to the beaches and appreciating the architecture. :)

Fluffuary 16th~

Frank sat down heavily into his chair. He groaned at the force of his body weight hitting the unyielding wood.

“Rough day?” Matt asked, wrapping an arm around Frank’s shoulders and kissing him at the temple.

He felt his bones creak as he shifted to lean his weight against the chest of the man behind him. “It’s a better day now.”

Matt smiled against his hair and kissed him again. “Sit tight. I’ll get you something to eat.”

Frank nodded, mourning the loss of the other man’s body behind him but his stomach awakening at the idea of being fed. He really was hungry now that food had been mentioned. It had been a long day of recon and protein bars just didn’t cut it some days.

He was barefoot, Frank noticed. Barefoot and wearing loose sweat pants that slung low on his hips. His tank just loose enough to not be skin tight, but still showing off the muscles beneath. Comfortable and at ease in a way that they’d just recently found with each other. Frank felt his heart swell at the sight.

Matt hummed to himself as he set about re-heating some left over pasta fagioli they had made together the night before. Frank watched, entranced as Matt wandered about the kitchen. The other man was elegant in his movements, the effortless grace evident in every angle. He was strong, Frank knew that first hand how powerful those muscles could be, but every motion was tempered by a delicate manner. As if the other man was handling eggs and not a half-empty pot of soup. Matt kept humming, walking to the other side of the kitchen. He grabbed two bowls and set them next to the pot of warming soup.

Soon steam rose from the pot, and with it the scent of garlic. His stomach rumbled in anticipation, and Matt laughed at him. “Just give it another minute and you’ll get plenty.” Matt said, pointing the wooden spoon he’d been using to stir the pot with in Frank’s direction.

“If you turn the heat up, it’ll warm up faster.” Frank said teasingly.

Matt rolled his eyes. “Faster isn’t always better.”

Frank grinned and leaned back in his seat, stretch his legs out under the table. “Maybe. But if you turned up the heat, we could be eating by now.”

Matt turned away and stirred the soup. “Where’s that famous patients of yours? Hm?” “Used it all up.” Frank said with a grin. “Now is time for action.” “Yeah?” Matt asked. “Well, you’ll just have to find some more from deep in your toes because this soup isn’t going to burn just because you are too impatient to let it simmer.”

Frank nodded, conceding the point and settled back into silence, watching Matt.

It didn’t take long, though Frank’s stomach was starting to argue that it was, before Matt was divvying up portions into the bowls he’d grabbed. He grabbed smaller spoons from the drawer and grabbed the bowls to be brought to the table.

“Here.” Matt said. “The wait didn’t kill you.”

“Near enough.” Frank teased. He grabbed Matt’s hand after he set down the bowl and kissed the inside of his wrist. “Thanks.” He murmured against the skin there.

Matt half smiled before setting down to eat his own bowl. They ate in companionable silence. Frank felt himself feel more rejuvenated with each spoonful. He got up to get them seconds when they finished their bowls but Matt grabbed his wrist before he could pass by. He pulled Frank to a stop and stood up. “Wait. How about some dessert instead?” “Dessert?”

Matt nodded, biting his lip anxiously. “Just sit back down.”

Frank was slightly confused. They rarely had dessert. Matt wasn’t one for sweets. Matt wandered to the refrigerator and opened it. His back was to Frank and obscured the view.

“Did one of your clients give you a cake instead of payment?” Frank joked.

“Nope, I, uh, I made it. For you.” Matt said, turning around and carrying a pie tray to the table.

“For me?” Frank leaned forward but the dish was covered by aluminum foil. Matt nodded, setting the tray down and quickly grabbing clean plates and spoons. “What is it?”

“Banana cream pie.” Matt said, walking back to the table. He took the foil off and revealed the pie.

Frank’s lips slowly turned up into a smile. “I haven’t had banana cream pie in ages. And you made this?” Matt nodded. “What’s the occasion?”

Matt looked at him confused. “You don’t remember? Frank, think of what today is.”

Frank thought it over and then laughed. “It’s my birthday.”

Matt grinned wide. “Yeah, you idiot. Happy Birthday.”

Frank got up and walked around the table to where Matt stood. He pulled the other man into a kiss. They stole each others breath as their lips slid along one-another. They pulled away grinning.

“I completely forgot.”

“Obviously.” Matt said. “Now sit down and eat your pie. I have another present for you later.”

Frank raised an eyebrow and grinned. “Pie and present too?”

“As long as you’re good.”

Frank laughed. “Happy Birthday to me.” He said with a grin as Matt served him a portion of the pie.
