FAQ

What is a Big Bang?

A Big Bang is a fandom event wherein writers and artists come together to create! Typically, a writer will create a fic that meets a certain minimum length requirement, and an artist will create an art piece based upon that work. Writers and artists are paired up to work on their parts until the posting date, where the pieces are posted together!

Who can participate?

Any fans of the Stobotnik pairing are more than welcome to participate! This includes writers and artists, but we are also looking for beta readers and moderators. Currently, there is no cutoff for the number of participants.

How do I join?

Currently, artist and beta sign-ups are open! The first round of sign-ups was for writers, followed by artist and beta readers, who may input preferences for which project they would like to work on.

What happens after I sign up?

You will be contacted in DMs with the link to a Discord server, which will be the main hub for communication and check-ins. A Discord account will most likely be required for your participation in the event, but we are currently looking at possible alternative forms of communication if enough people request it. Can I write/draw NSFW?

As long as you are over 18, yes! There will be a question within the application to confirm you are 18 or older; if you lie about this to us, you will be removed from the event. It is also required that writing and art of this nature is appropriately tagged and warned upon posting.

Can I participate as both an artist and writer?

No. For the sake of us here in the mod team and everyone participating, it is far easier if each person only does one thing, so you will need to pick one or the other.

Is there a theme?

There is no theme; if we run another event in future, there may be, but for the 2025 Big Bang, there's no theme, so go wild!

Hi Gina, how are you?

Is it true that Liam and Zayn were also part of The bears? I've seen Ziammie using this as proof. But I always thought it was something exclusive to Louis and Harry.

IIRC were a couple of moments where there were red/yellow smiley face/sad face stickers. And I think there were a couple of things mixed into a couple of set ups that seemed like they might fit Zayn or Liam but the bears absolutely were NOT focused on Ziam even 10% of the time.

Not sure about all that but no doubt the kid is going to have his first rant by the age of 18 (directed to babygaters but larries in general) for the weirdest theories based on his existence ever since he was conceived and his dad’s name is still being tied to one of his ex band mates when he, as the most important thing in dad’s life, only knows the guy from his songs and didn’t even meet him in person.

Side note: i don’t think he would mention his daddy issues unless he wants to follow daddy’s footsteps and become a public figure for someone to ask about it particularly.

was adam lanza a pedophile?

this is a topic of hot debate. personally i don’t believe it add or subtracts much from his case, but nevertheless people love to discuss it. so let’s discuss!

why do people think he’s a pedophile in the first place? from a young age, lanza had a fascination with violence against children. in elementary school, lanza wrote several stories featuring violence against children.

later in life, lanza would write a 35-page essay defending pedophilia as part of his college application. in this essay, lanza postulated that pedophile rights were part of the “liberation of children”, and that children should be able to make decisions as adults would. lanza also stated that he believed an “adult-child relationship” could be “beneficial for both parties”.

lanza would expand on this essay on his youtube channel, CulturalPhilistine, in an 8 part series titled “On pedophiles and children”. the transcripts for these videos can be found here

after lanza’s attack on Sandy Hook, police would find notes and basic sketches of scenes for a play called “Lovebound”, written by lanza, on his hard drive. the play would depict a relationship between a 10-year-old boy and a 30-year-old man.

many users of the forum that lanza was on, Shocked Beyond Belief, seemed to have an impression of him that included him having an attraction to children.

so, was he a pedophile? we have no definitive way of knowing, and there’s an equal amount of evidence suggesting that he wasn’t one. when police searched lanza’s hard drive, they found no sexual content featuring children.

it’s well known that lanza was an odd man all around, so perhaps his fascination with violence against children simply came from his “antinatalism” and general violent thoughts rather than an actual attraction to children. maybe the impression that other SBB users had of him came from his awkward personality.

the biggest question, i think, is does it matter?

an article published by the Connecticut Post puts it best—

Dr. Charles Herrick, the head of psychiatry at Danbury Hospital, said it is difficult with the information released to date to know if Lanza's interest in pedophilia had any influence on his behavior.

"The material related to his obsession with mass shootings is far more compelling about what is driving his behavior," he said.

although pedophilia could be a possible motivator of lanza’s attack on Sandy Hook, his fascination with mass shootings—something which appears to be a trend in a lot of mass shooters—is far more relevant. however, the Connecticut Post’s article offers an explanation on how lanza being a pedophile could’ve motivated him to attack Sandy Hook.

[Dr. Fred] Berlin said one could speculate that Lanza, if he had pedophilia tendencies, could have targeted the elementary school in an attempt to eliminate temptation.

"The idea is that someone who has a strong desire for something and they're forbidden to act upon it, they can be angry at the source of temptation," he said. "It's not unreasonable, given what happened. There must have been a tremendous amount of rage inside of him."

as i stated, there’s no definitive way of knowing whether or not adam lanza was a pedophile. either way, i don’t believe it adds or subtracts much from his case, as it does little to change much about his moral character. i don’t believe there’s any point in arguing about something that only serves to make a tragedy more disturbing.

sure. 'trans lesbian' is, like, a compound word that means specifically 'a trans woman who is a lesbian', and not just 'someone who is trans and a lesbian', in the same way that idk a 'little finger' isn't just 'a finger that is small'. & obviously i am all for recognizing that labels are just labels, that words are not the things themselves, but 1. this is not, like, some weird backformation or super restrictive definition that people make up to mean arguments, it's how that word is used in common practice by queer orgs, media outlets, the UN, and 2. i think that there is context here that makes it pretty important to be extremely clear about who is and isn't a trans lesbian in this sense.

the context is that trans lesbians (ie, trans women, who are lesbians) are like at the center of the hurricane of transphobia across the world right now. ray blanchard, the fucking pioneer of modern pseudoscientific transmisogyny, specifically singles out the 'autogynophiles' (as opposed to the 'homosexual transsexuals, who are trans women attracted to men') as dangerous perverts. TERF's most hateful transmisogynistic caricatures and canards of trans women as dangerous sexual predators who are threat to Women's Spaces are implicitly about the Trans Lesbian. it's a term that sent the entire transphobia industrial complex into overdrive when it was used in some UN org's tweet:

these headlines are not about Trans people who are also Lesbians--both these articles are filled with all the usual bile about how trans women are really sexually predatory men who want to infilitrate womanhood. neither of the people writing these articles would like leslie feinberg for sure, but they also wouldn't think of hir as a Dangerous Predator Infilitrationg Women's Spaces. & so when the trans lesbian is the fucking like cultural boogeyman that politicians are determined to performatively target and punish, i think that using that language to describe people who aren't transfem is diluting our ability to talk about this kind of transmisogyny.

& i mean like, this is not just an abstract concern, right, because the instant that i initially took issue with was someone essentially saying 'wow, why do you think that people who obsess over SBB specifically and The 80s more generally as the end-all be-all of Queerness and Lesbianhood tend towards a transmisogynist view of thoes things when leslie feinberg is literally a trans lesbian.' like it is explictly and obviously a rhetorical sleight of hand which is why i treated that ask with the contempt it deserved.

This year, we are capping teams at 125 authors on a first-come, first-serve basis. This may increase based on artist sign ups, and yes, there will be a waitlist should someone need to drop out during the sign up period! There is no cap on artists.

Congrats on the bachelor’s. Ang good manuscripts about justice, torture and execution? Its for my end of studies project lol

sure! it kind of depends on what you're actually looking for though. i could point you to hundreds of manuscripts that portray gory martyrdoms, torture in hell, fictional executions etc. in some shape or form (see my latest compilation of isaiah being sawn in half!). those aren't necessarily indicative of real-world practices/norms of justice though, if that's what you're interested in. anyways, here's some stuff i had to think of that might or might not be relevant to your question. keep in mind i'm not an expert on the contents of these manuscripts, i just collect images. :)

1.) the livre de la vigne nostre seigneur (france, 1450–70) is, imo, the place to go if you're looking for cool depictions of hell, demons torturing sinners etc... as for real-world methods of execution, scenes like the one on fol. 30r might be somewhat insightful (christians being persecuted and tortured by the antichrist in various ways):

2.) as for justice, i had to think of the sachsenspiegel, which "is one of the most important law books and custumals compiled during the holy roman empire" (wikipedia). here are some impression from a 14th c. edition, one of the first/original ones. every page is composed of the legal text on one side, and matching illustrations on the other. so, for example: at the bottom of the first image here (12v), there's an illustration for the law that said that pregnant women should only be penalized/tortured in a relatively mild way (penalties "on the skin and hair"):

3.) here's another manuscript that contains illustrations of henchmen of the antichrist getting creative with torturing people (bavaria, c. 1440):

4.) now this one's niche, but i personally really really love this 15th century (bavarian) series of images depicting ways in which various sinners/sins receive different eternal punishments in hell. each miniature is dedicated to a different cardinal sin or violation of one of the ten commandments. to give you an impression, here's a selection of sins and their punishments:

regarding medieval ideas of justice, i feel like this series illustrates the same concept that can be found in dante's divine comedy: "the punishment of souls by a process either resembling or contrasting with the sin itself" (see contrapasso).

- the rest of the gang looking awkward while Ash and Tyler are arguing

Holy shit it was wild. Like… the suspense of waiting if each show would have them, decoding the bears, “love larry”, looking at reflections in sunglasses, mapping out locations like when I tell you it was giving FBI, it was.

It was just also so exciting! The chaos on here, all the Larries working together, all the anons in our inboxes, the antis trying to fight us but they really couldn’t because ??? How do you dispute all the evidence that rbb and sbb brought? The blue and green sticker smiley/sad faces, there was a horse at one point, my god it was wild. It was just so fun decoding it all and working together as such a big community and tumblr was thriving!!!

It also brought one of my fave ever moments, in which they were asked about the bears in an interview, and niall almost broke his neck looking indisputably straight at louis

Also, a note on the above… if you truly believe that crew are fucking around with a couple of stuffed animals, I can’t even begin to tell you how wrong you are.

I’ve worked in this industry for years, and if you think the crew are doing this with how busy they are when constructing stages and rigging the floating equipment and the lights and fucking EVERYTHING (crew do so much shoutout to them) than you are sorely mistaken. They couldn’t give two fucks about a couple of bears.

Like ???????? Nope. They are not doing that on their own accord for fun. What would that even achieve for them? Plus, not all their crew were touring crew. There was a lot of local crew on the ground too who like… would be asking why the fuck they’re doing that and would roll their eyes wasting that time when they all just wanna have a break. Their touring crew would’ve been directly told to do it by Paul and it was just innocent enough, with a lazily alibi, that hl could do it without getting in trouble. Plus all the other proof it was them and the messages but yeah, it is one of the biggest pieces of evidence we’ve ever had. But antis don’t question it because everything is suuuuuper transparent in the industry!!!!! There’s never any lies!!!! No closeting!!!! We know everything about them!!!!!

No examples of work required; the event is just for fun so there's no skill requirement or anything like that! The only thing that may impact people being accepted in is the amount of mods we end up with. So, in short, no worries if none of your fics have been published, because you do not need to have posted any writing or art anywhere prior to this event - you just have to be willing to post your finished pieces for the event itself!

The thing is, as you say, this is separate from the question of gender identity. What that post said about no trans woman being binary is true in extremely pedantic sense, the words themselves are technically accurate, but only divorced from the actual context of what it means to go against the cis-heteropatriarchal binary vs. people who identify outside of the division of humanity into just two genders based on any criteria. They are two almost entirely separate subjects. It's like saying you're Native American because you were born in America.

okay i’ve actually thought about this a bit and i think katie’s character would be one of the political candidates being followed by the girls. sadie would develop an infatuation with her, similarly to how she did with walker, and katie would become the main candidate sadie follows.

because she’s running for president and has to be born in the US and all that, she’d have the barley concealed irish accent (ngl i lost it at your wording there) but UGH can you imagine powerful politician katie with a full irish accent and sadie swooning after her every chance she gets???

in terms of personality, she’d be somewhere between season 2-3 lena when she’s still trying to be cold and concealed, and Saskia from SBB.

this is the vibe she gives in my head:

in terms of personality, i see her being an old money business bitch who is somewhat standoffish. she doesn’t like interacting with reporters but she knows she needs the media on her side. i see her as highly intelligent and i think it would be interesting to almost see a manipulative side to her - someone who knows how to work the media to her angle.

of course underneath all that, she has her soft side. and like all kmcg characters, she likely has a tragic backstory that involves some level of family estrangement, abuse, and and an iffy relationship with alcohol.

I know you are very against the p-word when talking about HL and in the larrie world you are in the minor because most larries think they won´t expose their relationship anyway. I agree that I hate how H hides literally everything behind this term (because he and Louis are closeted) which causes that gf h*rries - when he´s stunting - keeps yelling how the-current-woman-of-the-year is his endgame because tHeY aRe So PrIvAtE which can be easy to ignore but it´s still annoying af. In the morning I read another opinion how HL will keep their relationship in p-word even after they will come out and I came to this theory.

There are openly gay famous men and eventho they are talking about their sexuality openly, they keep their relationships in p-word. Let´s take J.Bailey as an example. Okay, idk for sure if he´s in a relationship rn or not but I think he is but he doesn´t want it to be public - I read a tiny interview with him asking him about all kind of last things he cooked, listened to, read etc and to the question what was the last thing he bought he responded something like "A painting as a gift for a very special person" - I assume that the special person is his boyfriend but he doesn´t want to draw attention to his relationship, doesn´t even want to admit he´s in a relationship. Probably because he wants all attention to his acting and lgbt funds he´s involved in. And so I´m now 50/50 on how much HL would like to expose their relationship even after their CO and admiting their relationship. I am sure they will attend events together, slay on the red carpet looking adorable with their heart-eyes and they will become a power/IT couple and will talk about their love in interviews (because it´s affecting their art/songwriting) but also don´t know if they will want to be detailed about their relationship what might cause that they will be hunted by tabloids and paps and D**xM*oi and making those typical (mostly made-up) tabloid headlines and articles like "Trouble in paradise?", "Close to the breakup because of the work schedule" or eventually if they will become parents to even expose their kids. So maybe they will find a balance in this - yes, they will be open about who they are and who is the love of their lifes but they will keep details in the p-word to prevent that their relationship will become the only thing why they will be interesting to media/gp.

Yes, i know i'm in the minority when it comes to being able to differentiate between being closeted and being private. Being openly out doesn’t mean you can’t be private or that you'll lose your privacy. As you illustrate, JB is out and proud, but he isn't hounded by questions about his relationship and doesn’t reveal more than he wants to reveal. He's protecting what he wants to protect just fine while also living his truth in public.

I'm just sick and tired of this fandom calling L and H private people, and claim the reason they're not out as gay to the public is simply because they don't want to, because they don't want to reveal that to the public, because they're private. It's a choice they're making to protect their privacy.

I just want to bang my head into a wall everytime i see this bad take or some take that's similar, all leading back to privacy. To me that's saying that all H and L have done over the years to tell us in the ways they can that they're gay, closeted and that they want freedom and to live their truth; speaking through t-shirts, hinting in songs, RBB and SBB, wearing each others clothes etc is all for nothing, because the fans of today think they're not out because they're private people. Asdfghjkl.

So the p-word is banned on this blog until you all understand the following:

Closeting is forced privacy. They don't have a choice but to be private about their relationship.

Coming out wont breach their privacy, but it will give them the choice of chosing to keep their relationship private or not. A choice they previously didn’t have.

H and L generally aren’t private people. They willingly share most things, except information about their sexuality or their romantic relationships. That's not because they're private people and want to keep that part of their lives private, it's because they're closeted.

I'm pretty sure if they could they'd shout it from the rooftops that they love each other. They've been forced to hide for so long, having their sexuality repressed and not being allowed to touch each other or show that they belong together. They've had to watch their soulmate kiss and pretend with other people. So once they're able to come out, i don't think they'd want to protect the relationship by being private. Why would they? They have a huge fandom that would rejoice, they'd have a general public who'd be thrilled for them. They could be a power couple if they wanted to. All this without it breaking their privacy.

I think H wants to show the world he bagged Louis and wear Mrs. Tomlinson-Styles t-shirts with a smirk on his face. I think Louis would want to do the same. He's used to his own family (over)sharing every life event and being public figures. But hey, maybe that's just me and how i would feel after gaining freedom after repression.
