so, i have just finished my first ever watch of Supernatural.

i started late december 2023 ended late march 2024. heres what i have to say.

WHY DID PEOPLE LITERALLY JUST LIE??? like when i heard and had the finally spoiled for me i was told “cas died and went to super hell cause he confessed his love to dean.” like no???? that’s literally no what happened???? castiel sacrificed himself by admitting dean was the reason he understood and found happiness which led to the deal he made with the empty to be fulfilled. and also cas went to the empty not this mysterious “super hell” he went to the normal place where angels and demons go when they die.

i was also led to believe that jodi dies SHE LITERALLY DOESNT??? EVER???

anyways never trusting any of u fuckers again.

also how are they supposed to make a season 16??? like they have the perfect ending sam and dean being together in heaven, like dude let them be happy 😭

last note, anyone who doesn’t believe in wincest doesn’t understand that incest doesn’t have to be sexual to be incest.

i loved all of spn even when honestly it should’ve ended at season 5. but the journey was good and the characters great.

He only seems to be happy around his son

(I don't think I'll ever be a parent but I think it's important to live not just for your kids but for yourself as well

These are more things I don't like about the finale and Sam's life without Dean

but I will always have problems with blurry wife/mother and forgotten found family

Fuck yesterday.

So first, I'm watching the clone wars, and my heart hurts so much for Anakin and what could have been that I decide to stop and finish later.

Later that night, I remember supernatural, one of my favorite series. All I'm missing is the last episode, which I'm putting off because I don't want to finish it (after 15 seasons what am I supposed to do now that it's over?) But I finish it AND DEAN FUCKING DIES. My favorite character. DEAD.

Great.

So to get over it, I decide to watch a musical. One I've been waiting a long time to see. Moulin Rouge.

And now my heart is fucking destroyed SOMEBODY SEDATE ME.

SPN Finale: Dean was at peace with a young and bloody death. Dean would just sit around in heaven content, waiting for Sam to show up.

SPN Finale: Most of Dean's found family doesn't matter to Dean or Sam. Sam and Bobby are Dean's only family. He knows Sam is happy and okay and Dean has Bobby.

SPNWIN Finale: "I was looking for my family."

SPN Finale: Dean's own personal happiness doesn't matter to him. The only thing that matters to Dean is that Sam lives a long life, and that is fine. Dean can give up on clawing for his own source of happiness and contentment outside of his brother's well-being.

SPNWIN Finale: Sam will live a long life. Dean still feels driven to search for something more—something personal to him. Dean has not given up the search. He is still rambling on.

I DID!!! Okay, so it's basically a fork in the road type ending that could go either way.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not happy with the ending. This is just me trying to make the best out of a bad situation. Here are my feelings about the ending:

Now that we got that out of the way.

So, there's Castiel's love confession in 15x18. However you interpret Dean's side of it, either way, Cas believed his feelings were unrequited.

Fast forward 2 episodes, and we learn in 15x20 from Bobby that Cas helped Jack design the new heaven. When Dean first woke up in heaven, what was there?

Bobby, who was a father to him

Baby, his beloved car, his home

Harvelle's Roadhouse

Just those 3 things. It seems very significant to me that the Roadhouse is there, given it was destroyed at the end of season 2, 13 years ago. Why out of everywhere would this be a significant enough place for it to be waiting for Dean? Glad you asked! See, Cas was in 5x10, (in the same room, even) when Dean propositioned Jo on their last night on Earth. More importantly, Cas knows Dean's mind. He rebuilt him from the ground up as well as actually having been inside his mind.

So, as a Chestervelle shipper like myself, I believe that Cas would know how he feels about her. He'd know she was special, and being a hunter, she was the most feasible option for Dean to live happily ever after with.

So my theory is Castiel, thinking his love is unrequited, put Harvelle's Roadhouse there (with Ellen, Jo, and Ash inside) to give Dean the chance to be happy with someone, even if it's not him.

Now! Even if you don't agree with them ending up together, or them liking each other that way at all, you can see how Cas would think so either way. It's not unfathomable.

So, this is where we reach the fork in the road. It's up to you. Maybe Dean and Jo don't end up together, and Dean and Cas find each other and they end up together.

But no matter who you ship, I believe Harvelle's Roadhouse was there by Castiel's design.

I just saw a tag that "you're allowed to be upset, and that's what makes it a good story" and like. Maybe that's the problem. I'm not actually that upset? Izzy's death was dumb and boring, and they moved on to the happy ending too quick to even let me be sad in the episode. I'm mostly just baffled and feeling all the wind go out of my sails for hiatus engagement? Possibly even S3 engagement since they've kinda icarused BlackBonnet and the character arc resolutions are pretty much a tossup?

Like this burst of trying to get thoughts out and make sense of why I kind of hated it is going to last a few days at most, not another year and a half. I can tell you that much right now.
