Studio Heartbreak brings us: The Lovers

The Lovers is a dark fantasy that follows Sara Lim Baylon and Sirena. Sara is the head chef, faced with pressure from her family to keep their restaurant afloat, while Sirena is a siren that happens to be the next dish Sara is supposed to prepare. However, complicated feelings grow between the two of them. - Be warned, The Lovers is a dark animation and heavily features gore, body horror, mental distress, etc.

Currently, the animation is in its development phase and has a kickstarter! While it has reached the needed goal, you can currently still purchase tiers that offer limited edition merch!

My entry for Studio Heartbreak’s DTIYS, wherein artists should choose any frame from the trailer for The Lovers. I loved the intensity of this moment, and the potential for dramatic lighting (ceiling-high tank in restaurant at night, low-blue lighting in the tank, reddish after-hours light from behind). And sooo many things to make glow. This was also my first time drawing bubbles freehand, and I think they look quite nice.

The Lovers is the debut film from Studio Heartbreak.
