So I've been binging the Star Trek TOS movies and-

Thinking about Scotty and Uhura falling in old people love. They didn’t really see each other that much as a prospect while serving on the enterprise, Scotty loves that ship too much and Uhura was (lovingly) out of his league. But afterwards, it was inevitable.

Scotty and Uhura are friends first, and that shows. If there’s an anniversary or a special event, he may opt for exotic flowers, but Uhura is much more of a stuffed animal, soft furry friend type of woman. For their honeymoon, they went to one of the few planets with tribbles.

Uhura is the same, they visit plenty of starship museums and gifts broken antique watches to fix. Watching him toil over gears is just as scenic as a sunset to her.

Can we, as a fandom, ever stop bringing other ships down (not actual relationship arcs from canon, I'm talking ships) to elevate those we like?

Can people stop saying Uhotty is 1 a fake ship, 2 the least popular Star Trek ship, 3 only liked by Spirk shippers and only as a way to keep Spock free for Kirk?

None of these claims are true, thank you.

So now that they've officially introduced Scotty on Strange New Worlds, I just remembered that in the later years, he and Uhura get together.

Wonder if they'll make it happen sooner or ignore it altogether. 🤔

The night shift mechanic who tows the remains of Jim’s first car comes along for the ride. His roommate would rather put his skills to the test driving cross-country than delivering pizzas. And the Russian whiz kid they pick up in Colorado is the only one who can read the goddamn maps.

How farfetch would it be for Uhura and Scotty to have a musical prodigy for their offspring? Think about it: they (in TOS at least) could carry a tune.

Not to mention, between Scotty’s bagpipe skills and Uhura’s ability to master the Vulcan lyre, it’d be no surprise if their potential child grew up to be a singer and maybe even an instrument repair technician to boot. 

That being said poor Scotty (and maybe Uhura) would probably hit the Romulan Ale when realizing their kid won’t be a engineer/communications officer...

A little HC post on Scotty x Uhura JUST BECAUSE I DON'T WANT THIS ACCOUNT TO COMPLETELY DIE LOL (this is written in mind for older!Scotty and older!Uhura BUT interpret it however u want ^w^)

- Scotty has never minded having rough, calloused hands, if anything he's taken pride in it! He's an engineer, one who's put in many, many years of hard work. It's a symbol of what he's done- what he does. But.. yet, he can't help but feel a bit self conscious when he finds himself contrasting his own hands to Uhuras. Soft, thin, beautiful- not without a few small notes of their own, but for the most part simply perfect.

And in contrast to his it makes him feel.. well, imperfect, he'd suppose. She deserves a lot better than an old engineer with scars and dents like the ol' Enterprise herself.

But Uhura eventually does notice how his smile shortens, or his grip softens momentarily, or he has to quickly glance elsewhere when they hold hands. And upon finally learning why he does this, his, what he thought to be, unimportant feelings.. she, takes his hands gently into her own, and lifts them to her lips; Offering the most warm of kisses.

"You're perfect, Scotty." Against his hand, Scotty could feel her smile. His cheeks felt a rush of heat that roused a small, bashful wheeze out of him.

"A-ah, I don't know about that, Lass-"

"But you are." Her eyes flicked upwards, and she finally allowed his hands to fall; But intertwined with her own. She stepped forward, their bodies bumping together. "And if I have to tell you every single day I see you? Well, then it'll be a priority one for me." Uhura stood up as high as she could, whispering against his ear in a way that sent tickles up his spine.

"Until you see yourself the way I see you."

How the TOS crew reacts to being stuck in the turbo lift with you

requested by anon: “how would the tos crew react to getting stuck in the turbolift with reader?”

Spock

He only briefly looks up when he realises that the turbo lift has stopped.

Has no reaction whatsoever and goes back to doing whatever work on his PADD because he figures somebody has to notice it’s out of order fairly quickly

He just goes about his business until he hears you hyperventilating

He already knows why you’re panicking.

Spock does his best to comfort you by telling you that there’s only one turbo lift and therefore someone will have to fix it soon.

He’ll 100% tell you all about the history of elevators and how the turbo lift is so much safer 🤓

If you’re still worried after that he’ll let you hold his hand until someone finally fixes the turbo lift.

Leonard ‘Bones’ McCoy

Internally, he also freaks out a little bit

Bones somehow keeps his composure despite being trapped very close to you

He’s entirely in his own head about it until he realises that he can hear you freaking out even more than him

His inner country boy breaks out a little and pulls you close to him

Absolutely kisses your hands and maybe even your cheek to make you giggle a bit

He’ll remind you that you guys have been through way worse than a stopped turbo lift.

Jim Kirk

“Huh” his exact words after realising you’ve stopped.

Honestly, he really really trusts his crew so he won’t be worried at all

But the moment he hears your breathing pick up he’ll start cracking jokes

“Actually this works out perfectly, I was on my way to a meeting”

Pulls you into a big bear hug and tells you how he’d much rather be here with you

if you’re still panicking he’ll say something like “do I have to order you to calm down”

Keeps telling jokes until you laugh

and when you do laugh, he’s pretty sure his heart jumps out of his chest.

Nyota Uhura

Absolute girl boss about it

Would 100% wait it out if it weren’t for the fact that she could see you panicking

But you’re panicking and she can’t bare to see you with anything but a smile on your face

She pulls out her comm and calls down to engineering (why did no one else think to do this? 🧐)

Once she’s done that all she can really do is wait

She won’t even wait or hesitate, she’ll pull you to the floor and sit with you

10/10 would recommend getting stuck in the turbo lift with Nyota, she will cuddle until someone fixes the lift

Sulu

“Oh my”

His mind seriously blanks

But he kicks into gear when he remembers you’re here too

He pulls out a deck of cards and asks if you like magic 🪄

(I dunno why I just think Sulu can do card tricks and stuff 🤷‍♀️)

Card tricks quickly devolves into an intense game of war

Its unexpected for sure, but it works

Scotty

It takes him a moment to notice

But when he hears your breathing he looks up and realises that you’ve stopped

You’re lucky to be stuck in the turbo lift with the head of engineering

He gives you a quick wink 😉 and smirks when you blush

He’d turn around, open up a panel that you didn’t even know existed, and fix it

Bam, problem solved

If you’re really shaken up by it though he’ll probably take you for a drink after or make you tea if you don’t drink

For Trektober Day 25: Shuttlecraft. This is the first chapter of a Uhura x Scotty multi-chap fic.

Summary:

Scotty and Uhura were sent out on a scouting mission in one of the shuttlecrafts. It was a simple mission. Nyota was there to open up communication with the locals, and Scotty was to get her there and back. Too bad easy missions never remain uncomplicated.

Preview of story:

Uhura clutches her hands around the edge of the shuttlecraft’s navigation controls. Scotty was leaning all the way over the helm control, knees pressed against the metal protectors along the bottom of them, face contorted in pain and determination in his eyes. Despite the speed at which they were crashing through the atmosphere Uhura doesn’t panic. She forces her eyes back onto the computer’s screen. There’s no need to be scared. They won’t die. Scotty’s the best engineer in the whole fleet, and she’s had to take over the navigation console often enough that she can find them a place to crash. She slides her fingers along the buttons and controls. Land. They’d need dry land, preferably an open field.

The force of their descent pulls water from her eyes. Quickly, Uhura blinks the tears away. They were quickly flying over a desert. Her heart races frantically. A struggle to forage for food is the last thing they’d need. Uhura quickly plots in a random location code for somewhere about two hundred kilometers ahead of them. 

“Our engines are gone! We’re running on momentum alone at this point!” Scotty announces as he pushes himself further back into his chair. He pulls back his foot and launches it into the metal protection plates under the console. “Stay where you are lass!” 

It’s more of a plea than an order.

That realization drops her stomach all the way into the soles of her feet. Uhura braces herself for the crash as the new coordinates lock-in. The scans read sporadic trees and shrubbery. It’s at least a better chance. “Can we give ourselves a boost?”
