Fast and Furious Timeline Explained (Including F9)
https://ift.tt/35RIciY
When the Fast and Furious franchise started in 2001, it’s doubtful anyone working on it expected they were launching a mythology so trenchant it’d still be going 20 years later in a film with the words “Fast Saga” in its full title. But here we are on the opening weekend of F9: The Fast Saga, and the series is so beloved it’s expected to resurrect the theatergoing box office once more. And you know? Thank goodness, mi familia.
Sometimes there’s nothing nicer than spending your summer situated around a grill with a couple of cold ones, reminiscing about old times with loved ones. And if we ever spent a full day at one of the Toretto clan’s barbecues, we’d likely hear a lot more exciting tales that begin with “remember that time…” After all, what other family can talk about that time they stole a literal vault out of Rio de Janeiro? Or that other time Luke Hobbs caught a torpedo with his bare hands; and Trej and Roman over there, they launched a Pontiac into space! With them in it!
There have been some crazy times with this group. Hence we’ve created this handy-dandy timeline for those who are struggling to remember when and where things went down…
* Editor’s Note: After Fast & Furious (2009), the franchise gets intentionally vague and fuzzy about the time and years between events, so exact dates are left somewhat up to interpretation.
1989
Dominic and Jakob Toretto work as mechanics on their father Jack Toretto’s professional stock car. During the last race of the season, Jack asks Jakob to help him throw the race, but Jack is killed in the sabotaged accident. Dom thinks Jakob murdered their father. (F9)
Dom beats another pro driver named Kenny Linder near to death with a wrench, as he is at least partially responsible for the carnage of Jack’s crash. Dom is sentenced to prison for five years. (The Fast and the Furious, F9)
1991
Dominic Toretto is released from prison after two years. The first thing he does when he gets out is challenge Jakob to a street race. If Dom wins, Jakob will leave Los Angeles and never return. He’ll also shut off all communication with Dom and their sister Mia. Jakob loses. (F9)
2001
Dominic Toretto alongside his ride or die lover, Letty Ortiz, and childhood friend Vince form an illegal crew of big rig hijackers, stealing DVD players and digital cameras. (The Fast and the Furious)
Brian O’Conner volunteers to go undercover for the LAPD and FBI, infiltrating Toretto’s crew and the world of illegal street racing. But he soon comes to idolize Dom and fall in love with his little sister, Mia Toretto. Brian ultimately helps Dom escape the Feds. (The Fast and the Furious)
2002
Gifted Asian American student Han Lue graduates rom petty crimes to participating with his cousin and two other friends in a cheat sheet racket at their prestigious high school. The group makes a small fortune, but after things get out of hand, they wind up murdering another student. Han’s cousin who helped in the deed kills himself, and a mourning Han drifts further into the underworld. (Better Luck Tomorrow)
2003
Years after fleeing California and prosecution, Brian winds up in Miami where he’s still a hotshot street racer who hangs with his mechanic buddy Tej Parker. After their operation is pinched, Brian is given an offer by the FBI to go undercover again and root out a violent Argentinian drug cartel operating out of Miami. He does so alongside childhood pal Roman Pearce. (2 Fast 2 Furious)
2005
Dom and Letty are secretly married while living as fugitives outside the U.S. (Furious 7)
2006
Dom Toretto now runs a hijacking crew out of the Dominican Republic, alongside Letty and new bestie Han Lue. After a near death experience, they disband. Han says he’ll go to Tokyo, and Dom leaves Letty behind. (Fast & Furious)
Letty goes to Brian O’Conner, who is now an FBI agent. She attempts to clear her and Dom’s records by infiltrating a Mexican drug cartel run by Arturo Braga. Unfortunately, Arturo figures out Letty’s deception and runs her off the road, blowing up her car, which leads everyone to think she died (including Brian and Dom). In truth, she was saved from the wreckage by Gisele Yashar, a secret CIA operative who also infiltrated the Braga cartel. She takes Letty to the hospital. (Fast & Furious, Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7)
At the hospital, Letty awakens with amnesia and is recruited into a crew run by Owen Shaw, who has power over the Braga organization. (Fast & Furious 6)
2007
Dom returns to Los Angeles with Mia to avenge Letty’s apparent murder. He buries the hatchet with Brian as they destroy Braga’s cartel. Dom is supposed to have his name cleared in the process, but the FBI betrays him and he’s sentenced to 25 years in prison. Brian and Mia hijack Dom’s prison transport, freeing him and becoming fugitives themselves. (Fast & Furious)
After freeing Dom, the trio flee to Rio Janeiro where they hope to stay incognito. Old friend Vince recruits them for a job to steal three cars, but mid-mission the threesome learn they’re stealing from the DEA, including a vehicle with a computer chip that details the financials of a Brazilian crime lord. (Fast Five)
Dom and Brian recruit an international crew to steal $100 million from the crime lord, including Roman Pearce, Trej Parker, Han Jue, and Gisele Yashar. The Family is reborn. Brian and Mia also learn they’re pregnant. The crew ultimately steals the money and even gains assistance from ruthless DSS agent Luke Hobbs after the super-cop’s team is murdered by local gangsters. (Fast Five)
Hobbs discovers Letty is still alive. (Fast Five)
2008
Brian and Mia give birth to their son Jack. (Fast & Furious 6)
Hobbs tracks Dom down, discovering Dom is now in a serious relationship with Hobbs’ former Brazilian liaison, Elena Neves. Dom is told Letty is alive and working for British criminal mastermind Owen Shaw. (Fast & Furious 6)
Dom and the Family are able to rescue Letty from her manipulative boss, even though she still doesn’t remember who she is. Dom leaves Elena for her. In the fight to save Letty, Gisele is killed and Owen is left in a coma. Han, who was dating Gisele, decides to go to Tokyo. (Fast & Furious 6)
Elena discovers she is pregnant with Dom’s child and decides not to tell him. (The Fate of the Furious)
2009
Elena gives birth to Dom’s son, whom Don is unaware of. (The Fate of the Furious)
Han is recruited by CIA mystery man Mr. Nobody, who reveals Gisele was a CIA agent the whole time. Han picks up where Gisele left off, ultimately saving an orphaned Japanese child named Elle, whose parents encrypted her blood with the key codes to a doomsday device called Ares. (F9)
Han continues illegal street racing in Tokyo where “drifting” is what the cool kids do. He even takes American teenager Sean Boswell under his wing after Sean is banished by his mother to live in Japan with his Army father. Han teaches Sean to drift. (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift)
Deckard Shaw, Owen Shaw’s older brother, breaks into Owen’s hospital and, after killing his doctors, promises to avenge little bro by getting the Toretto family! He begins by nearly killing Luke Hobbs and Elena, who is now working full-time with the big guy. (Furious 7)
Dom takes Letty to Race Wars in order to jog her memory. She gets fragments back but decides the old Letty is dead and drives off, leaving Dom. (Furious 7)
Dom returns to his family home in Los Angeles where Mia tells him that she and Brian are expecting their second child and she’s afraid to tell him because he’s addicted to an adventurous lifestyle. Dom agrees to talk to Brian. Only then does he receive an ominous phone call about… (Furious 7)
… How during Sean and Han’s exploits ,they offend the Yakuza. This leads to Sean and Han being chased by gangsters. In the chaos, Han is T-boned and seemingly killed in an explosion. The other driver is Deckard Shaw, who is here to kill Han in order to send Dom Toretto a message: he’s coming for the Family. He calls Dom to taunt him as he thinks Han burns. But in a twist on a twist, it turns out Han and Mr. Nobody knew Deckard was coming and used this as an opportunity to fake Han’s death so as to better protect Elle! (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7, F9)
After receiving Deckard’s phone call, a letter bomb goes off in the Toretto family home, nearly killing Dom and Mia. Dom and the Family are recruited by CIA weirdo Mr. Nobody into stopping Deckard from obtaining an all-powerful MacGuffin. Nobody gives them unlimited resources and also brings Letty back into the fold. She inexplicably gets her memories back after remembering she and Dom were secretly married. (Furious 7)
Sean ultimately becomes the Drift King of Tokyo (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift)
The heroes save hacker Ramsey from Deckard and she joins the Family. Together they stop Deckard by causing a parking garage to literally fall on his head. Shaw goes to prison, and Dom and Letty get back together. Brian agrees to retire for the sake of his two kids but not before one last angelic ride along next to Dom. (Furious 7)

Something I thought about for a while though my idea was completely different LOL WIP but I don’t know if I can finish it ;w;. I’m not so good with rendering things. I had several thoughts of storylines that inspired this…  ROUGH IDEA OF THIS IMAGE: After a bad run in with some deatheaters(or wannabe deatheaters… always had the idea after the books they be some trying to resurrect or create a better dark lord.), they send a large horde of dementors to finish them off. Draco Malfoy having gotten close to Potter and his life either to mend his way or an opportunity to help chase down the remaining deatheaters. Ends up being the only one able to fight. He puts every bit of magic into his Patronus, having trouble casting it at first cause of the memories and the fear. His determination to save them outweighs all his doubt, his mind focused on Harry. Everything they done, everything he meant to him.  And because of how Patronus is such pure magic I can see it conflicting with the dark mark on Draco’s arm. It festering, and reacting to the magic that is trying to purge everything dark. As the magic Draco is summoning is from every essence he has, never stopping even as the Dark Mark is bursting and shredding apart his arm. Ending with Draco’s arm having blown off of him due to the magic clashing. Most of the Dementors having been obliterated instead of driven away. Draco having collapsed just seconds after the light fades. His wand bleached by the magic.  Harry in shock, having watched all this go down. I Had several different ideas.. i still like the first idea i had but I couldnt draw it.. i might attempt it later but I thought it be a cool Fanfic idea… likeiwritefanfic =w=; I’m bad at explaining too. It basically was like a few years after the war, there was an attack on Pansy (with spells) that left her in St. Mungos. Aurors Ron and Harry are told to go and talk to the last person seen with Pansy that day. They arrive to Malfoy Manor, to find Draco ill and way too tired to argue much. Turns out to Harry and Ron’s surprise, that Draco is a werewolf, and obviously couldn’t have harmed his bestfriend that night as he went home just before sundown. Harry annoyed they werent told of this before hand and even the paperwork barely mentions it despite Draco being  on the registry. Draco however, having good knowledge on how politics work and people who would harm his friend, gave some very helpful suggestions. Harry taking these suggestions into account started unraveling a bigger mysterious. But as it unfolds, he is forced to take leave when Andromeda Tonks ends up being one of the victims, leaving Harry to take care of teddy. Harry unable to keep his nose out of the case, winds up at Draco’s again for more information, especially with pansy being well and better. And while conversing Draco again offers some good suggestions and leads. Ends with them confirming that someone with a darkmark is attacking them, due to Teddy’s panic once getting a glimpse of Draco’s arm. Harry brings the leads and news to Robards and Kingsley with Ron’s help, and they devise a plan. Kingsley trusting Harry, decides to visit Draco to judge whether or not Draco is trustworthy and to hear his advice with his own ears. Draco is then given a chance to redeem himself, but a permanent job at the ministry if he aids them in their investigation as a temporary auror. (His Leads not only having been correct but provided an insight they did not have) The catch is he has to do it, while pretending to be Harry. Since becoming Harry be the perfect way to draw them out and keep them panicking. Draco agrees, and has to live in Harry’s shoes for a good few hours a day, drinking Polyjuice to keep the appearance while investigating. Draco works with Harry and Ron on the case back at his manor. Filling Harry in on things that happen (more or less) so they can keep up the appearance.  Eventually a raid get set up, The real Harry is under his cloak with Kingsly and other aurors on standby watching the town. While Draco pretending to be Harry is with Ron and Robards and a couple of other aurors confront the deatheaters. The raid ends up a bust as they manage to ambush them. Draco’s polyjuice wearing off mid fight, once the deatheaters realize who been golden boy all this time they loose interest and send the dementors while popping off to find the real Harry. Robards is unconscious and Ron is on the ground having been mostly petrified or injured and unable to move. (Draco being werewolf having aided him in the fighting) Draco has to make a choice, if he runs to get aid robards and ron will most likely be kissed. If he fights, he’ll more in likely be kissed. Ron telling him to get out of there, but Draco makes a stand while he attempts to cast a patronus. He starts to panic as they close in, seeing bad memories all the ones he regrets flash through his mind. Then he shakes himself free seeing the glimpse of the glasses he discarded mid fight.  His thoughts turn to harry, and the time with teddy being over. Them laughing, working. He points his wand at the horde and manage to cast a patronus. Bright and pure, that got larger and stronger the more magic and determination he put into his spell. Planning to put his all into it. The magic starts to envelope him as he only poured his thoughts about Harry. Knowing if he let Ron die, then Harry would never be the same. Harry deserved every ounce of happiness he has left and by damn would he let it go. As his thoughts stayed focus the magic starts purging and combining with his blood. Pain searing through but he doesnt stop, even as it conflicts with the dark magic on his arm..  Basically ends the same with his magic having purified and combined with what was left on his arming, blowing it off accidentally in the process. He managed to fight off the horde in a spectacular display that harry and the others can see from afar as they run towards the group, having just realized what happen. Harry stumbles in on Draco barely standing as the light fades from his wand head hung, blood pouring from his left arm. Then Draco collapses, Harry rushing into stop the bleeding out. Ron letting out a “Bloody Hell…” Surprising Harry as he did not expect Ron to be conscious, staring back at Ron. Ron giving a short explanation, joke, and telling harry to hurry and take the git to st mungos in quick couple sentences. Cover been blown but everyone manages to make it out alive, even the victims. Draco no longer having to be in Harry’s shoes, but still ends up helping solve and wrap up the criminals who crimes get bigger each time. Can see the last fighting scene involving a magical mutation to Draco’s lycanthapy that allow him to fight side by side with harry. Everyone seeing Draco being a hero too. =v=b I Thought of this one for long time reason it better.. the sketch was based off my drawing abilities… =v=‘ kek. BUT TELL ME UR IDEAS… and hopefully i get this drawing done.. ;w; Also I was debating on fox or ferret for patronus lol. =v=‘ could be wolf too, in the second story.

In Other Words, Hold My Hand by Cwenphy for MBlair
Stargazing and waltzing on the lake.
Meet Me in the Meadow by Miranda13 for MeadowHayle
Ben was not the typical Alpha. Rey was not the typical Omega. Utterly indifferent to other people, only in their fantasies or dreams would they experience desire. After many years of loneliness, they meet in a support group for struggling demi-humans, and everything changes. Ben and Rey embark together on a healing journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance. Maybe, they don’t need to be alone, anymore. Maybe, they were never alone, to begin with.
The Rise of Ren by Ayrith for Merixcil
For the last seat in the Knights of Ren, there are two candidates. The first, a powerful scion of a great Force legacy, formally trained by the last Jedi. The second, a force sensitive urchin with no past, nurtured by the cut-throat criminal underworld. Kylo or Kira. There can only be one.
Legion by Tiara_of_Sapphires for midwinterspring
The war was over. Across the galaxy, hundreds called out in one voice: “I need a teacher.” A fic for midwinterspring for the RFFA Valentine’s Day 2020 Exchange Prompt: Rey and Ben train new Force users and fix things

The Kingdom of Exegol holds the key to Kylo's future. All he needs to do is to get past the omega guarding it.
Thaw My Frozen Heart by DarkSideOfMe for Miranda13
“A bounty hunter decides that the former Supreme Leader would make an excellent prize and manages to get the jump on Ben while he is on a mission for the Resistance, encasing him in carbonite. Rey is quick to mount a solo rescue mission and helps Ben recover from the hibernation sickness when she eventually gets him back." - Reylo-Prompts
Good Boy by rissanox for MissCoppelia
Ben adopts a dog who needs some training. Thankfully, he gets help (and a little bit more) from Rey, a dog trainer.
the world's not perfect but by aNerdObsessed for misszeldasayre
What would happen in a galaxy where the New Republic never got off the ground and the First Order choked before it started? Maybe a scavenger girl would become a foundling under the care of a Mandalorian bounty hunter.  Maybe a troubled child would shake off a burdensome legacy to follow his father's less-than-lawful profession. Maybe a cocky flyboy would find himself using his charm to win gigs delivering spice for the syndicates. Maybe a mechanically-minded girl would start taking off-the-books jobs for the occasional criminal. Maybe a boy with too many questions would leave his parents to learn about this thing called the Force. Turns out the galaxy is a lawless place with every sentient for themselves.

" There is no comfortable position. No matter how he laid down on his cot, his bones feel brittle, his skin itching all over with the sensation of a thousand ants crawling all over his body. His stomach swirls like a maelstrom, and he blames it on the caf he had in order to stay awake through one of his lessons. Pathetic. You can’t even sleep right. He promises to skip the caf the next day, and his consciousness floats on the surface even as he wishes to be pulled under." -- Ben Solo has never had a single good night's sleep in his life. Rey of Jakku never wanted one. The Battle of Exegol rang and wants to know if this is still the case.
It never gets easier, you just get better.  by PoliticalPadmé for MyJediLife
Ben is an addict working through his pain. Rey is a counselor assigned to his care. They weren't supposed to fall in love.

Why we can't be by MedowHayle for newseptembers
When old Maz forsaw a dyad, Rey never thought it would be a soulmate bond between her and the First Order coven member Kylo Ren. Desperately trying to undo her connection to the enemy, she seeks out ancient texts and meets Ben, a bookshop owner and crafter, who seems to catch her attention every time they meet.
Beside the Lake by elegygoldsmith for Ngoc12thefangirl
“Ben…” It’s half groan, half laugh, all ache — and he wants to reach out to her but he doesn’t trust himself to stop at only holding her hand. Rey’s gaze softens, and that grief she’s been feeling comes roiling out of her like a thunderstorm. It’s too much for him to take. “Tell me.” “I want kids.” She says the words so softly that he might not have known what she was saying if he hadn’t seen her lips moving and heard the syllables echoing in his mind. “Oh.” It’s stupid, but he doesn’t know what else to say. “I mean…” She fumbles again, but this time she doesn’t even bother finishing in words. I want kids now. A short, smutty one-shot in which Ben and Rey grapple with the next step in their life together.
You Need A Teacher by andabatae for ninecrimes
After the events of TROS, Rey returns to Ahch-To... and a healed Ben Solo. There, she plans to consummate their relationship. Too bad she has no idea what she's doing.... Luckily, Ben is happy to teach her everything he knows. ----- “Okay.” Rey took a deep breath, preparing herself for the strange, mortifying experience to come. “So what do I do?” “Well,” he said, “first you let me kiss you some more. Then, when you’re ready, you take your clothes off. Then you sit on my face.” “Just like that?” “Just like that.”

swish of the bumblebee by qotsisajakk for OptimisticBeth
She should get the sand - and gravel, and rocks - and run all the way home and make things right for him. Although, the fish had gotten her into this mess in the first place, however inadvertently, so maybe she should move him to Finn’s room where she wouldn’t have to look at his little fins swishing away ever again, reminding her of- Rey's betta fish needs an upgrade in living conditions. When she posts a question asking for help, she gets a little more than she bargained for.
Dissolver of Sugar by Apricot for optimus_pam
“Rey...what could anyone do, to make up for what Kylo Ren did?” Or: Redemption isn't supposed to be easy. A TROS fix-it fic, of sorts.
Delirium by TearoomSaloon for PalenDrome (nerdherderette)
That was the trouble with these things, wasn't it? Every once in a while the drugs backfired and they both got a dose of what was really, probably, very potent pheromones. Excerpt: He heard the edge of anger in her voice, the snarl she tried so desperately to conceal. The powder was getting to her. "You're jealous, aren't you?" "No!" "You are." Against his better judgement, he stalked to her, backing her to the wall. "You can't stand the fact that you're not my first partner." "I'm not your partner!" He leaned in, lips almost to her ear. "You want to be though, don't you?" She barreled into him with a scream, head connecting with his chest as she tackled him to the floor. Faster than he could react, she had his arms pinned over his head, knees firmly pressing into his breastbone. "I don't want to be anything to you. Not your friend, not your ally, and especially not your lover."

The world between worlds is neither hot nor cold. So when Ben feels his arms break into gooseflesh, when his shoulder aches with not a remembrance but an actual twinge of pain, when he tries to rouse himself from meditation and realizes that he’s fighting the need to fall back asleep, he opens his eyes—in a room on the Millennium Falcon. On the fifth anniversary of the destruction of Starkiller Base the Senate is throwing a masked ball and invited members of the old Resistance. Still trying to rehabilitate his image, Senator Ben Solo has no choice but to attend. Written to fulfill this prompt: Ben and Rey dance at a masked ball, unaware of who they are dancing with. Until the masks are taken off at midnight. Romance and Sexual Tension ensue, will they be able to refrain their urges? Hell no. But I also mixed in a healthy dose of this prompt as well: Prompt 2 - What if Ben was unable to bring Rey back and had to call on the help of the Skywalkers that came before him? Is he ready to pay the price of losing his force sensitivity for the women he loves?

Rey marches up the walk, takes hold of the door knocker, and bangs it sharply three times. Nothing. She rattles the door handle. Nothing. Absurdly, she checks the address (is this the right creepy-and-probably-abandoned-Skywalker-Manner on Alderaan street?). It is. -Or- Rey takes a shady job to clean the old Skywalker Manner and discovers that there's something much scarier than dust and spiderwebs living there. But maybe that's not the whole story, because what kind of monster loves roses and books?

Not that she’d ever tell Ben that he’d been an accident.  He’d guessed it for years, but she’d go to her grave asserting he hadn’t been. “You want to keep it,” Ben says at last—a statement, not a question. — Or: Leia watches her son and his girlfriend prepare to become parents.

Rey and Ben have been friends forever, so much so that Ben never dreamed that it something as small as getting that manager's position he'd been gunning for would get in the way of it. Rey has only been trying to be a good friend and not use him for his status, which means instead of accepting rides from him like she had, she hasn't. Gaslights Cast
EVERYONE’S HERE GOOD GOD.
Penguin
Oswald Cobblepot/the Penguin: local crime lord. If asked, he’s been lucky with his nightclub and dabbles in imports and exports. This is true. The I&E is, like, 95% illegal. Oswald also has a tight grip on several of the local street gangs, and he absolutely has his fingers in a lot of pies. Rats don’t cross the street without him knowing, but he’s an easygoing sort. Usually. Oswald is a second-gen immigrant from Russia; Mama Penguin speaks very little English and her son spends at minimum one weekend a month making sure her bills are settled and all that. (Usually more. Oswald has no qualms about stabbing a man ten times, but he adores his mother.)
Dove Marquis: on paper, Oswald’s personal secretary. In practice, manages half the business. This is intentional; it’s 1895, in the event that he gets arrested, literally nobody is going to suspect a woman of managing a whole-ass crime syndicate. She can keep things from going up in smoke until he bribes his way out of jail. Dove is also occasionally the Beard; she has a red wig so things don’t get awkward. She is a third-gen immigrant from France.
Olga Bykov: Oswald’s housekeeper on paper and his at-home bodyguard in reality. Do not fuck with her. She has a meat cleaver on her person 90% of the time and will just, like, body slam you otherwise. (He’s scared of her. He should be.) Olga is a first-gen immigrant from Russia-she came over when she was about five-and spent her teenage years robbing graves for the medical students.
Edward Nygma: Technically he works with rather than for; Eddie runs an antiques shop that Oswald’s, er, interestingly acquired goods frequently go through. He’s got buyers all over the place and his own random connections, including a very nice professor interested in chemistry. :p Edward is a Gotham native.
The Cranes
General: They work as a pair; you don’t see one without the other very often, and even then, they’re not far. Scarecrow likes to hear himself talk, while the Grey Lady is dead silent. Both of them work on horseback-easier to run down victims that way-and communicate over long distances via whistles. They don’t come out in the daytime hardly ever.
Jonathan Crane/the Scarecrow: Psychology professor at Gotham University, specializing in phobias. Dabbles in chemistry from time to time. While his modern-day counterpart doesn’t care who gets caught up in his experiments, Gaslights!Scarecrow has a taste for churchgoers on account of his...unfortunate...upbringing. His fear toxin was created by accident, but that started giving him ideas. He is technically local, but after his parents died when he was small, his great-grandmother took him in and as such, he was raised in Georgia. Unfortunate, that, given the war and all.
Scarecrow’s horse is a Friesian; a black mare named Carmilla. He usually paints her up with phosphorus, a la The Hound of the Baskervilles, to give her a more frightening appearance. Apart from his chemical weaponry, he carries a scythe.
Kitty Crane/the Grey Lady: Modern Kitty is not enamored with the alter ego thing. Gaslights!Kitty has dressed up like a Ring Wraith for women’s rights. I’m not even kidding. Jack the Ripper-or, more accurately, the polices’ failure to handle Jack-pissed her off. The public’s lack of care did not help. Kitty is British, though her parents moved to Georgia when she was small; she and Jonathan are childhood friends.
Kitty’s horse is an early relative of the modern-day Thoroughbred; she values speed and agility over pants-browning terror. He is grey and named Verne. She carries a sword and she is good with it, both on and off the horse.
The Robins
General: As kids, they went from being under Penguin’s wing (hahahahaha) to working with Batman. Then Jason died and that was the end of that. :/ As adults, they work as a group, and their methods are closer to the modern-day Red Hood than Batman would like. Jason and Tim are local, Dick is, as he puts it, ‘a citizen of the world’; he was literally born on the circus train.
Dick Grayson/Bluebird: The oldest. Dick considers it his job to take care of the other two whether they want it or not, and Heaven help you if one of them gets hurt and it’s your fault. He’s been the older brother since he was nine, y’all, he’ll destroy you. That said, he’s the charmer of the lot-Olga adores him, which is saying something-and usually the spokesbird when it comes down to it. He retains his circus background, and calling their little trio the Cock Robins was his idea. His current name is actually from the Asian Fairy-bluebird. Look it up. It’s a little birdified Nightwing, I swear. Costume-wise, he’s his usual black and blue (WITH FINGERSTRIPES GODDAMMIT), with multiple nasty surprises included; he does carry batons, but he also carries a crap-ton of throwing knives, studded brass knuckles, and a garrote. He’s not as lethal as Jason can be-usually, anyway-but he is the most unsettling to watch, if only because he’s a fast, flexible bastard. Half the underworld’s convinced he’s not human. Adorable Baby Dickie was a big fan of ‘circus’, which consisted of him screaming, ‘GET READY!’ and hurling himself over the balcony to (hopefully) be caught by whomever was passing by. Dove lost ten years from that. Olga and Bruce usually just snatched him out of the air.
Jason Todd/Shrike: The middle child. Died. Got better. Jason runs a little more supernatural than sometimes; he has a white streak in his bangs, he’s sensitive to ghosts (he hates this) and he’s got two scars from his untimely demise; a roundish one on his ribs from being impaled, and an autopsy scar. Ra’s found him quite by accident post-resurrection, but keeping him proved to be. Futile. He’s furious with Bruce for leaving his brothers to do the right thing (kill the clown) and is, by far, the one you don’t want to meet in a dark alley. He doesn’t prefer guns, because they’re unreliable; instead, he favors the kris blade he stole from Ra’s on his way out. As per usual, he grew up in shoddy circumstances-Catherine died of lung cancer-but he’s got a knack for languages...barring French. He sucks at French. He turns everything into something very inappropriate no matter how hard he tries not to. Costume-wise, he’s dressed in a soldier’s uniform that he’s dyed black (’good soldier’, my ass, Bruce, HERE YOU GO) and while he did attempt to go with a red helmet at first, it was metal, it dented, and he ended up going with a rudimentary gas mask and red goggles instead.
Tim Drake/Finch: The baby. His brothers call him Baby Bird to piss him off. He wonders why he loves them. Tim comes from money; his parents died under mysterious circumstances and his uncle essentially went, ‘fuck this’ and, ah, disappeared him. It was an outright murder attempt, but even though it failed, the public thought otherwise. Good luck proving anything in the 1800s. (Penguin knows. Bruce has his suspicions.) Tim’s the more technical-minded of his siblings, which can lead to bad times for criminals. He has the Sherlock Scan down pat, which means he can and will find weak spots to exploit...and has the knowledge of how to make that excruciating, yet survivable. Costume-wise, Tim’s gone with a variant of the plague doctor look; the nose of his mask is shorter, for practicality, but he carries a staff and wears a long coat (all the better to conceal gadgets in!). He’s the least chatty of the lot, but he has a knack for spouting creative threats. (Usually these are directed at his brothers, because they’re awful.) Interestingly, he’s Penguin’s favorite, though not just because he’s quiet; Tim is honestly good Crime Lord material, and it’s not totally unlikely that he’d end up running the empire.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Marc Spector is a Jewish-American rabbi's wayward son. As an adult, Spector had been a heavyweight boxer before becoming a U.S. Marine serving in Force Recon, afterward, he left the Marines to become a mercenary occasionally doing work for the CIA. As a mercenary he befriends the French pilot Jean-Paul DuChamp, whom he affectionately calls "Frenchie". While working for the African mercenary Raoul Bushman in Egypt, the group stumbles upon an archaeological dig whose crew includes Dr. Peter Alraune and his daughter Marlene Alraune. The dig had uncovered an ancient temple where artifacts included a statue of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. Intent on looting the dig, Bushman kills Dr. Alraune. In response to Alraune's murder, Spector challenges Bushman to personal combat and is defeated by Bushman and left to die in the sub-zero temperatures of the desert night. The Egyptians who worship the ancient gods find Spector and carry him to their temple. Helpless before the statue of Khonshu, Spector's heart stops. Khonshu appears to him in a vision, offering Spector a second chance at life if he becomes the god's avatar on Earth. Spector awakens, wraps himself in the silver shroud that covers Khonshu's statue, and again confronts Bushman. He defeats Bushman and returns to America with Marlene, Frenchie, and the statue of Khonshu. Deciding to become a crimefighter, Spector creates a silver cloaked costume, based on the silver shroud, and becomes Moon Knight aka "The Fist of Khonshu".[24]
After his return to the United States, Spector invests the money that he had accumulated as a mercenary and develops a small fortune. To distance himself from his mercenary past, he creates the identity of millionaire entrepreneur Steven Grant, using this identity to purchase a spacious estate. To remain in contact with the street and criminal element, he also creates the identity of taxicab driver Jake Lockley and has acquired civilian allies such as Bertrand Crawley, Gena Landers, and her sons.[25]
In the character's first appearance, the criminal organization the Committee supplies Marc Spector with the name Moon Knight, his costume and weapons (using silver) to hunt down Jack Russell. In Los Angeles, Moon Knight captures the Werewolf for the Committee, but then frees him and halts the Committee's plans, fighting Russell again.[26] He battles Conquer Lord,[27] teams up with Spider-Man to fight Cyclone,[28] and fights Lupinar,[29] and his brother Randall, the Hatchet-Man.[30]
His origin of being "created by The Committee" is explained as a ruse set up by Frenchie so Marc can shut the Committee down.[31] He then encounters the Midnight Man[32] and returns to Chicago to prevent the poisoning of its water supply by a group called the Werewolves,[33] encounters Morpheus[34] and teams with Daredevil to fight the Jester.[35] It is around this time that he first encounters Stained Glass Scarlet.[36] Later, he battled the Werewolf once again,[37] battled Bora, and met the X-Men, the Fantastic Four,[38] and Doctor Strange.[39]
Volume 2: Fist of Khonshu (1985)Edit
Spector abandons his Moon Knight, Grant, and Lockley identities after the effects of Russell's bite (lunar cycle-based strength)[40] fade away, and functions as an independently wealthy man opening art galleries around the world, with the help of art historian Spence. Spector's estranged relationship with Marlene ends when she finally leaves him for her ex-husband when he becomes Moon Knight again.
The cult of Khonshu telepathically summons Spector to Egypt and supplies him with a new arsenal of moon-themed projectile weaponry, originally designed by a time-traveling Hawkeye in ancient Egypt. Khonshu himself appears to Spector and enters his body, giving him the same lunar abilities he previously had.[41]
As the agent of Khonshu, he aids the West Coast Avengers, but at the cost of alienating Frenchie and further distancing Marlene.[42] He time travels to 2940 BC to rescue the Avengers, where he learns of his weapons' design by Hawkeye.[43] He officially joins the West Coast Avengers[44] and enters a relationship with Tigra for the remainder of his tenure on the team.
While investigating the Phantom Rider with Daimon Hellstrom, Moon Knight and the Avengers are attacked by soldiers working for Khonshu's rival, Seth, who is invading Asgard. Khonshu abandons Moon Knight to battle Seth after explaining it was his wish to join the team, not Spector's. Moon Knight resigns from the team,[45] and reunites with Marlene and Frenchie,[volume & issue needed] only to die and be resurrected by Khonshu once more.[volume & issue needed]
Marc Spector: Moon Knight (1989–1994)Edit
This volume introduces Moon Knight's teenage sidekick Jeff Wilde, also known as "Midnight", the son of Midnight Man, a member of Moon Knight's rogues gallery. At this time, Moon Knight first encounters the Black Cat.[46] Midnight is turned into a cyborg by the Secret Empire, then is seemingly killed in a battle with Moon Knight, Spider-Man, Darkhawk, the Punisher, Nova and Night Thrasher.[47]
Teaming up with the Punisher, Moon Knight defeated ULTIMATUM,[48] and during the "Acts of Vengeance", fought Killer Shrike, Coachwhip, and the second Ringer.[49] He then encountered Silver Sable and her allies Sandman and Paladin.[50] As Marc Spector, he was tried for murder in Bosqueverde, South America.[51] Moon Knight teamed up with the Punisher again, as well as Spider-Man against the Secret Empire.[52]
While fighting with his brother Randal Spector over who is destined to carry the mantle of Moon Knight, Marc discovers Khonshu is not the god of vengeance but the god of justice.[53]
Moon Knight eventually upgrades his armor to adamantium armor rather than his original Kevlar costume.[54] This upgrade is critical since Moon Knight needs the armor to hold his body together after being infected by the then-possessed Hobgoblin. The disease is revealed to be the villain known as Demogoblin trying to possess him.[55] With the help of Doctor Strange and Mister Fantastic, the Demogoblin parasite is removed. Moon Knight seemingly severs his ties to the Avengers by burning his membership ID card after being brought in by Thor to answer charges in regard to his illegal actions against Doctor Doom.[56] By the end of the series, Moon Knight is killed violently, sacrificing himself to save his loved ones from a computerized villain called Seth and his "Zero Hour" program.[57]
Resurrection Wars and High StrangersEdit
Moon Knight was resurrected in two separate limited series in 1998 and 1999.

This section needs expansion.
Minor appearancesEdit
In 1998, Spector uses his Ka to help a critically injured Black Panther through the Kingdom of the Dead.[58]
In 2001 and 2002, Moon Knight joins the "Marvel Knights" non-team to capture the Punisher.[59] After making a brief appearance in the "Avengers Disassembled" story-arc, he makes a minor return in the 2005 Marvel Team-Up miniseries, fighting alongside Spider-Man, Daredevil, and the Punisher. He later appears in issue #2 of the Great Lakes Avengers mini-series where Doorman offered to recruit him in the GLA, but he immediately rejects the offer.[60]
Moon Knight Volume 3 (2006–2009)Edit
This volume opens with Marc Spector's early retirement which comes after a brutal battle with Bushman. Although his body is broken after a tremendous fall and both knees shattered, Moon Knight finally defeats his nemesis Bushman by carving off his face with a crescent moon dart. Spector is then haunted by a spiritual apparition of Khonshu, who chose a faceless Bushman as his ethereal representation. Marc Spector's background is updated, so he fought in the Gulf War and that his time as a mercenary was during the 1990s. It is also revealed that Frenchie is homosexual and in love with Marc Spector; which is why he stuck around for so long.
The new Secret Committee then hires The Profile, an amoral character who can analyze a persona past and future habits with a glance, to help them entrap Moon Knight. He escapes after the plan collapses because they authorized a mugging of Frenchie too soon. Profile then becomes a reluctant source of information for Spector himself, even giving him advice on rekindling his relationship with Marlene.
Moon Knight eventually gets drawn into the Superhero Registration Act as he investigates a string of murders perpetrated by Midnight, his former sidekick. Other Marvel heroes take notice of his violent return to vigilantism. Spider-Man attempts to contact Moon Knight but is rebuked.[61] Captain America pays him a visit to deliver a warning and they quarrel.[62] The Punisher and Moon Knight have a lengthy conversation about the nature of their vigilantism and their shared past.[63] Moon Knight is forced into a final confrontation with his cybernetically enhanced former sidekick Midnight, seemingly killing him for good.[34]
Iron Man also investigates Moon Knight's activities by placing him under close surveillance. Finding his mental condition unstable, Iron Man decides that arresting Moon Knight under the Registration Act might make his mental instability worse. Moon Knight begrudgingly applies for registration after much prodding from Khonshu, not wanting the law to keep him from his work. The new law requires him to submit to a psychiatric exam. The psychiatrist controlling the exam, along with the government and Tony Stark, has no intention of granting Marc Spector approval for registration. After speaking with Spector's repressed alter egos Jake Lockley and Steven Grant, the psychiatrist begins the process of officially turning him down, suggesting possible future imprisonment. Subconsciously Spector breaks the doctor's will by speaking in the voice of Khonshu and pointing out the doctor's own antisocial tendencies, as told to him earlier by the Profile. The psychiatrist not only approves his application but bows to worship him as well. However, later on, Marc meets the Profile with their dialogue suggesting that the personalities above were just an act to be approved for registration.[35]
Moon Knight shows little regard for his newly licensed superhero status or any passion to the people around him, further alienating himself. His former nemesis Black Spectre returns. Carson Knowles, recently released from prison, attempts to frame his murders on Moon Knight. He steals some Stark nanotechnology and plans to unleash it on the city. Moon Knight pushes Knowles off a building apparently to his death. Tony Stark, as the head of the Initiative, revokes his superhero registration, but buries the fact that Spectre had stolen Stark Tech.[64]
The Thunderbolts, led by Norman Osborn, are now on the hunt for Moon Knight. Tony Stark and second-in-command Maria Hill argue with former Avengers government liaison Raymond Sikorsky, now a representative of the Commission on Superhuman Activities, who desperately wants for Moon Knight to be apprehended with extreme prejudice.[65] Marc Spector himself busts up a drug deal while wearing an entirely black costume while going through an internal monologue about how crime-fighting is much easier without the burden of his reputation and "costume recognition."[66]
Several weeks later, after barely surviving an altercation with the Thunderbolts, Spector pleads for Khonshu's forgiveness for turning his back on him and for the god's renewed assistance. Khonshu appears and informs Spector he doesn't need him anymore, as he now has other worshipers. Spector returns to his Moon Knight costume to aid Frenchie DuChamp in gaining revenge on the Whyos gang for attacking his restaurant and injuring Frenchie's lover Rob, only to find the Whyos' attack was designed to draw Spector into another conflict with the Thunderbolts when he is ambushed by Venom.[67] After a brief fight Moon Knight is captured, but escapes when S.H.I.E.L.D. shows up. Frenchie agrees to help Spector, and Ray joins the reformed team as well. Bullseye is released to kill Moon Knight, as Spector prepares to go out with a bang.[68]
Moon Knight is next seen battling Bullseye on the streets of NYC. He eventually leads Bullseye to a bunker/warehouse where he has planted several explosives. Bullseye narrowly escapes as Moon Knight ignites the explosives. Later that day two press conferences are held: one by Norman Osborn to announce the Thunderbolts' success and Moon Knight's death and the other held by Tony Stark who denounces the methods used by the Thunderbolts. At the end of the issue, it is revealed that Moon Knight has faked his death, escapes from the warehouse through a secret passage in the floor, and is hiding in Mexico. It is also revealed that the Marc Spector persona has "died" and that Jake Lockley is now in control.[69]
Now living as Lockley, the Moon Knight escaped to Mexico.[70] Laying low to avoid attracting the attention of the Registration Act any further, Lockley gets roped into a mission involving criminal cartels, two boisterous sibling luchador assassins, and a murderous Toltec avatar. During this stint in Mexico, Moon Knight learns he was being shadowed by The Punisher from the moment he crossed the border. Frank Castle's reasoning was that he knew Moon Knight would find himself somehow involved with the very cartel Frank had been pursuing; however, the Toltec god's avatar made quick work of the cartel.[71]
Eventually, the super-hero Civil War ended with Norman Osborn as director of H.A.M.M.E.R. and with him replacing S.H.I.E.L.D.. Lockley knows that Osborn had been behind the group of Thunderbolts sent to kill him and that a deranged psychotic was not fit to run the U.S.A.'s national security agencies, so using some spoils from the Cartel, Moon Knight decided it was time for a comeback.

Actually, I feel like talking a lot about that fanmade Transformers continuity I was cooking up. It was sick.
So, in the beginning, there were six forces. They had no agenda, for they had no sentience. They were just forces. Those forces were Chaos, Order, Unity, Complexity, Simplicity, and Invention. Over time, the forces’ power leaked, and formed the Gods, one for each force:
Hytherion, the God of Unity
Gaea, the God of Invention
Atlas, the God of Simplicity
Devil-Z, the God of Complexity
Primus, the God of Order
and Unicron, the God of Chaos
I didn’t make up any of these names, by the way; they’re all taken from Transformers canon. I mean, yeah, Gaea and Atlas come even earlier from actual mythologies, but you know what I mean. Though, I definitely made up a lot of their details.
Anyways, the Gods were sentient, and did have agendas. And Primus and Unicron came into direct conflict. In order to break their infinite stalemate, Primus created the Transformers- thirteen lifeforms that could help him beat Unicron. After they did, Unicron created the Terrorcon Virus (which basically turned Transformers into zombies) and infected one of the Thirteen, Deceptus, turning him into the Fallen, so the rest of the Thirteen went into hiding in various ways. One of them basically pulled a Diavolo, where he controlled a major criminal organization from behind the scenes where nobody ever saw the Boss so they had no reason to suspect he was this ancient mythological figure, though they were actually pirates rather than the mafia. One of the Thirteen was actually a Pretender, so the human sidekick of the Autobots would eventually pull a Sari Sumdac and be revealed to be that one, having erased her own memory. Et cetera.
Anyways, that’s all backstory. The story actually starts on Cybertron in the present day. The Autobots and Decepticons exist, but are not actually at war; rather, they’re nationalities. “Autobot” is the term for Transformers from the Iacon region of Cybertron, while “Decepticon” is the term for Transformers from the Kaon region of Cybertron.
The Autobot government is led by the Prime, an elected title. When an Autobot is elected Prime, their name is altered so that it ends with “-us Prime”. When they lose their Prime status, the “Prime” is lost, but not the “-us”. For instance, the current Prime is Rodimus Prime, formerly known as Hot Rod, and if he lost his title, it would become Hot Rodimus.
The Decepticon government is also weird. There aren’t as many name shenanigans there, though the government itself is slightly more complex, having two leading bodies. There’s the Council, which is elected democratically, as well as the Emperor, a title that is passed on via combat- you defeat the Emperor, you become the Emperor. The current Emperor is the fairly benevolent Cryotek.
Immigration/defection is a thing. Autobots who decide to become Decepticons are called Iaconian Decepticons, and the reverse are called Kaonian Autobots.
The two leaders also both have Minicon partners. Rodimus’s partner is a Powermaster known as Orion Pax. Powermasters are Armada-style Minicons who turn into tiny vehicles and give bigger robots power-ups. Meanwhile, Cryotek’s partner is a Targetmaster known as Megatronus. Targetmasters are Minicons who turn into weapons for larger robots. The two partners seem to get along just fine...
...but in secret, Megatronus is working to overthrow Cryotek. His scientist friend, Shockwave, has basically invented a new kind of Minicon that has never existed before- Brainmasters, which transform into internal computers and faces for larger mindless Transtectors. He is converted into one of these Brainmasters (as well as a few of his followers) and changes his name to Megatron, then overthrows Cryotek... and instantly starts turning Kaon into a fascist state, which includes murdering the entire Council (as far as he knows, anyway; one survives the attack and goes into hiding).
Cryotek begs the Autobots for help, and they’re initially willing to do so, but Rodimus Prime refuses, revealing he actually supports Megatron’s ambitions. In horror, Rodimus is basically immediately impeached, and he defects to the Decepticons. In his place, the Autobots decide to elect... Orion Pax, turning him into Optimus Prime. He’s converted from a Powermaster to a Headmaster (since Powermasters can only ever be sidekicks, really) and put in command. It’s also worth noting that Orion Pax was primarily elected and put in the position of Rodimus’s partner because his mother, Alphus Trion was the Prime before Rodimus (so, she used to be Alpha Trion, then Alphus Prime, then finally Alphus Trion).
Then, the fight ends up being taken to Earth.
The initial Decepticon team is made up of Megatron, Rodimus, and Shockwave, of course, but also Cryotek’s former second in command, Starscream, who’s secretly still on Cryotek’s side, as well as Cyclonus, Hook, and a few others. The main group tends to be Megatron, Rodimus, Starscream, Cyclonus, and once he arrives, Tidal Wave.
The initial Autobot team is made up of Optimus Prime, Cryotek, Jazz (who’s actually the human sidekick, they discover she’s actually a Pretender early on (it’s just that the Solus plot twist is later; and Jazz is her nickname, her real name is Rika Amami), and also a Headmaster, so they give her a Transtector they have lying around), Ratchet, Bumblebee, and a few others.
Over time, more Autobots and Decepticons come to Earth. Also, two more factions come into play- for one, the Terrorcons, and also, the Vehicons.
See, the Vehicons are Human-made Transformers. They’re generally non-sentient and just military weapons. The most important Vehicon ends up being one that transforms into a B-17, Omega Supreme.
The humans also experiment on the Terrorcon virus and make a variant on it- the Transmetal virus. The Transmetal virus won’t turn you into a servant of Unicron, but it will turn Transformers into partially-organic monsters against their will. It gets used on two Transformers in particular- the Decepticon Terrorsaur... and Jazz. After getting infected with it, Jazz renames herself Elita-One.
And also, the “leader” of the Terrorcons eventually appears, as a dark mirror of Optimus- Scourge. Of course, he’s a Terrorcon, so he’s not really the leader, but he makes a good figurehead.
Eventually, Optimus gets into a fight with both Scourge and Omega Supreme, and ends up partially opening the Matrix of Leadership. This converts both of them into Autobots, by curing Scourge of his Terrorcon infection and granting sentience to Omega. Scourge, now cured, becomes Ultra Magnus. However, pretty much immediately, Optimus ends up getting infected, becoming Nemesis Prime, the new figurehead leader of the Terrorcons.
Elita-One ends up getting elected to Prime, becoming Elitus-Prime. This lasts briefly, but then Elitus ends up fully opening the Matrix herself. This causes a whole ton of changes.
At this point, the conflict turns into a predominantly anti-Unicron one, as the Autobots and Decepticons start a ceasefire to fight Unicron’s forces.
Some changes:
Optimus is cured of his infection, becoming Prime again and forcing the Fallen to get off his ass and become the new Terrorcon figurehead
A shit ton of Transformers are reformatted into more powerful forms, such as Elitus-One becoming Prowl (who’s still technically infected with the Transmetal Virus, but now she’s kinda built around it, so it’s less of a curse and more of a blessing), Bumblebee becoming Goldbug (who is built out of five smaller hiveminded robots), Hook becoming Scrapper and getting five sidekicks with whom he can combine into Devastator; etc. Another really important one, though? Megatron becomes Galvatron.
In the end, Galvatron and a few others would sacrifice themselves to defeat Unicron.
Eventually, there’d be a sequel story. In it, Unicron would turn out to still be alive, and he’d use his power to resurrect the shells of the Transformers who sacrificed themselves, but not their personalities- they’d just be shells. Galvatron’s shell would just call itself Megatron; eventually, Galvatron’s personality would be rescued and he’d join the Autobots and still call himself Galvatron. Anyways, Megatron would take command of the Decepticons again, for reasons. And the story would start with a group of Autobots dying, but getting resurrected in more powerful forms by Primus. Optimus Prime wouldn’t change his name, but the rest would; most notably, Goldbug would become Hot Shot, and Prowl would become Red Alert. Also, Optimus would save the life of a Decepticon named Brawl, and so Brawl’d also die and get resurrected (and not change his name), and he’d join the Autobots and be a huge Optimus fanboy.
And speaking of Megatron, he’d be a six-changer. His five altmodes? Truck, jet, dragon, tank, and... I don’t actually remember the fifth one. He’d use the Truck one as his primary altmode and use the others for specific situations.
Also eventually, Red Alert would get seriously damaged and go through a process that would repair her, but also minorly overhaul her. Not as extensive an overhaul as her previous ones, she’d still fundamentally have the same body, but it’d be... different. As Red Alert (and Prowl, for that matter), she transformed into an emergency vehicle, but now, she transformed into... basically the same car as she did as Red Alert, but tooled to be a racecar instead, and in different colors. So she renamed herself Override.
So, she has now gone by nine names: Solus, Rika Amami, Jazz, Elita-One, Elitus Prime, Elitus-One, Prowl, Red Alert, and Override. SO MANY NAMES.

Whispers (Jily) - Chapter 1
Summary:  It’s only one night, Lily and James swear, when they see each other for the first time in five years. A combination of fate and new jobs, however, have other plans. Unexpectedly together at Hogwarts in the middle of a war, they’re forced to face memories they pretended to forget.
Co-written work by @women-inthe-sequel & @lovesickjily
Check it out on ao3!
There was something different in the atmosphere.
That was, perhaps, the first thing he noticed when he walked into the bar that night, but James couldn’t quite put his finger on whatever this difference was. What exactly was that made the air feel so different from all the other times he entered?
The ambiance was about the same— same chatter from the usual people, same sort of soft lounge music, same sort of just about everything really— but he knew that if he spotted whatever it was that was so amiss about the situation, he’d notice it immediately.
He’d have to notice it.
Perhaps it was the lack of alcohol in his system that was making him feel that way. Maybe if he downed a glass or ten or it, he would be able to shake off the feeling that seemed to plague him. Alcohol always seemed to make things about a million times better.
Still though, he couldn’t shake off the feeling that something drastic truly was about to unfold that night, but maybe it was the magical side of him that was being superstitious. With the dozens of Order missions that he’d been sent on these past few years, he’d learned to be cautious, to always have his eyes and ears open for any sort of signal that foresaw impending doom coming his way.
But at a bar?
He wanted to separate the drinks and the dark magic, separate the potions and the liquor, separate anything that kept him from living an ordinary life, even if it was just for the night.
He nearly was about to sit himself down at the front, order the usual, and wait for the night to take its course, but with something so off about the atmosphere, he instead took to ordering a drink before heading off to investigate some more. He intended on getting so sloshed that the bartender would have no choice but to summon Remus, his more sensible friend, but now, it seemed, finding the answer to this one question seemed far more important.
James took one quick glance around the room.
There were the same old wizards laughing over perhaps some same story that they’d recounted far more times than anyone cared to admit, a story that had probably been the highlight of their entire teenage years. At the table beside them were a group of friends, who seemed to have been the generic-brand version of James and his own friends— the Marauders, as they’d liked to call themselves in their Hogwarts years. James didn’t even want to mention the fact that there were far too many couples getting much too handsy than they should have in a public outing, yet there they were, going at it as if it was their last night together, and—
His eyes caught onto a sliver of red.
It was there for one second and then disappeared into thin air, like someone had taken to casting magic in the rowdy bar, a simple little trick to entertain his eyes. Upon processing the thought, though, he realised that it wasn’t magic.
It couldn’t be magic.
His doubts were soon resurrected, though, and his legs started moving on their own accord, like they were under the pull of a wand. Perhaps it could have been the lure of some spell, because there was no way that he could have followed some sliver of red just like that, not unless the caster held inconceivable power within them.
After much aimless walking, he caught sight of the red once again, but it wasn’t just a sliver. It was an entire head of hair.
Only one person had hair that red. One person who he remembered from years long ago, back when he was still running through the corridors of Hogwarts without so much as a care in the world.
He should catch up with her, ask about how she was doing in life.
The question remained though: how was he going to approach someone who he hadn’t made contact with in years without coming off as a creep? How to play it cool, like he hadn’t spent his last few school years having an achingly painful crush on her?
Let it flow, he told himself. Flow. Smooth. Suave. Exactly what he was the epitome of.
If they were going to meet once again, he wasn’t going to force it to happen. A simple little hello should do it, and then they’d have a lovely little chat before they were to part by the end of the night, as all chance encounters went.
He had this in the bag.
Flow. Smooth. Suave. Exactly what he was the epitome—
He felt himself run right into her. Quite literally as well, because when he thought he’d formed a clear, concise plan, the universe had decided to add a twist to it, one that made it so that he would collide into her, the one person he thought he wouldn’t see again in a million years.
Life seemed as if it was moving in slow motion, but the events flashing before his eyes were doing the exact opposite— too quick for him to fully process— because she suddenly met his eyes, and he was struck with the brightest of greens he had ever seen in his life.
Eyes. Green.
Green, green, green.
He felt as if someone decided to use an Unforgivable on him. One where his very thoughts were being controlled, because all he could think about were how bloody green her eyes were. Like there was no other lovely aspect of hers that he could focus on. It didn’t help that he had nearly forgotten, after all of these years, just how breathtaking she was, just how easily she could light up a room, just how wet her shirt was from his drink spilling all over her, and—
Shit.
He’d spilled his drink on her.
That, in all honesty, was not how he expected their meeting to start.
Way to go, him.
“Oh!” She took a step back, looking at the mess he managed to make of their meeting and plucking at her shirt in an effort to keep the wet fabric away from her skin. Raising her distracting eyes back to him, she started, “Sorry, I didn’t see you and—”
Time slowed down again when their eyes met. She almost made a double take, and the sentence died before she could finish it.
“Oh,” she repeated. Her hands stilled by her side. “I haven’t seen— I mean... Hello.”
“Fucking— I didn’t mean to get you all wet,” he said, feeling himself flailing about like a chicken without a head. “Not in that context, at least.”
“Right. Of course not.” She laughed, but it was quiet and definitely forced. Her fingers moved by her side like she couldn’t decide what to do with them before choosing to push some of her hair from her face. “Lily Evans, by the way. I don’t know if you remember, but we, um…”
“Yeah, no. I think it’s a bit hard to forget when we’ve snogged in the past, yeah?”
Her shoulders relaxed - just enough for him to notice - and her giggle was more like the sound he liked to hear when running into a pretty girl at a bar. “Yeah, that part’s a bit hard to forget.” She hesitated, but, in spite of the new blush on her cheeks, whatever she was deciding won, and she continued before he could interrupt. “My friend had to run off to see her boyfriend, but I don’t know if I’m quite ready to go home. Maybe we could… catch up? You could buy me a drink to make up for the ruined shirt?”
He was, unsurprisingly, taken aback by her words, and he shrugged. “I could just give you my shirt. Right here and now.”
“They might kick us out for that,” she answered, though the color on her cheeks and smile didn't fade from her face.
“It’s not that much different than those couples snogging their faces off in the corner over there,” he replied, pointing back at a table in a more dimly-lit area of the bar.
She didn't look where he gestured, continuing to meet his gaze like it was a challenge. “Do you have plans like that you'd like to return to, Potter?”
“Nah, but I reckon I’ve got some plans that I could start right about now,” he said back, and, without so much as looking around, he motioned towards an empty table. “Fancy another drink? All on me, obviously.”
The corner of her mouth quirked up in the beginning of a smile. “I would,” she answered, plucking at the damp shirt again. “Since we already had one on me.”
He felt the corners of his lips curving upwards unceremoniously. “I’ll see if I can get something to clean that up, since apparently it’s criminal to lend you my shirt.”
“We'll figure it out.”
He nodded. “You should sit down. I’ll get the drinks.”
After her nod of confirmation, he turned to the bar and ordered. With two drinks in hand, he found her in the crowd again, alone at a small table with a cardigan thrown hastily over her shoulders. She tapped her nails against the tabletop while she waited but stopped when she noticed him looking for her, sitting up and visibly straightening.
He grinned at her, placing the drinks down with a soft clink and plucking some napkins from the center of the table, handing them to her. “All right, Evans? Napkins won’t dry it all up, but they’ll do something.”
“Not bad,” she answered, taking the napkins from him with a noticeable shock where their fingers brushed. She dabbed at the places where her shirt clung to her skin. Even with her sweater thrown over for cover, he could still make out certain parts of her. “Not exactly according to plan, but I found a cute boy to buy me a drink, so,” she looked up, “no complaints.”
“Yeah?” he said, unable to help the grin on his face while he looked around the room curiously. “Where is he now?”
“Must have run off.” She took a drink and set the glass back on the table, her fingers wrapped around the rim. “Boys are so flighty, you know? I was thinking you could keep me company in his place.”
“Only if it’s not too troubling for you. Let me know if I’m not staying up to par with your expectations, yeah? I know it takes a lot to meet your standards.” Feeling bold, which in all honesty was not anything new, he loosened her grip on her glass and picked it up, making a great deal of effort in drinking from her own drink. He wasn’t sure if the tingling sensation that ran through him was from the alcohol or from her touch, but he decided that it didn’t matter.
She hid what he assumed was a grin behind her other hand, letting her fingers linger by his. “What brings Gryffindor’s own James Potter to a bar like this and a table like mine?”
“Pretty redheads, apparently.”
“Charming, as always, Potter. That hasn’t changed.”
“Gorgeous as always, Evans,” he shot back, and he leaned in close to her. “What’s your secret? Sold your soul to a dark wizard for eternal beauty, have you?”
“If I have to start the sale at age twenty, I guess that doesn’t bode well for my future.”
“Future can’t be that bad if you’re gorgeous forever,” he said, waving it off. He took another swig from her glass before sliding it back towards her. “What’s in store for your future, then, if not selling your soul? Finding the cure for dragon pox? Wouldn’t put it against you if you’ve already done it.”
“Nothing like that,” she said quickly, taking the drink from him and a swig of her own. “Haven’t you heard? No one wants to hire muggleborns.” Her expression soured momentarily, but she quickly replaced it with a smile he recognized, the kind she used when someone said something distasteful and she was coming up with the best response. “What about your future? I haven’t heard about you in the European Quidditch League, so you could be doing anything.”
“The world is really bloody stupid to be hiring a thick-headed Pureblood rather than the genius who is Lily Evans.” They established a pattern of sip and slide, but when her glass went empty, he reached for his own, which had been neglected since they sat down. “Gave up on Quidditch since I left Hogwarts. There’s so much more that I could be doing with my life, and I’d have to be the biggest, most selfish prick to be playing instead of fighting for the lives of other people.”
Her small, teasing smile was back, thankfully replacing the previous grimace. “Or distracting us from the worst of it with your death-defying scores.” She reached across the table to slip her fingers over his, explicitly to take his drink for herself, but it couldn’t be just his imagination that made her fingers fit perfectly with his for a few seconds. “But you always were more of the hero type. Saving the world is your style.”
He felt a bit dazed. It had to be the alcohol in his system and definitely not from the redhead sitting across from him. “Yeah?” he asked softly, “Then do I get the girl after saving the world? Obviously she’s independent and isn’t just there as an accessory, but that’s always more of an incentive for me if she’s waiting for me.”
Pointedly, she took another long drink, pushing the half-empty glass back toward him when she was done. “Who says you have to save the world first?”
“I say so,” he said, slightly in awe of her. “Don’t want to throw the world away for something that could be rekindled later, even if it involves someone who could practically be my world.”
“Maybe the girl comes after you save the world,” she allowed, tracing the ring his drink left on her side of the table. “I was thinking more like...” Lily twisted a finger in her hair, twirling the end. “A distraction. A short break from all the world-saving.”
Oh.
Oh.
He immediately understood her implication, the one that confirmed that the words and gestures that she had been sending him were most definitely what he’d suspected.
Order mission after Order mission, he’d found no breaks in between, no way to let off steam except through alcohol, but even that wasn’t enough. To run into her, a crush of the past, was enough to burst the cage of feelings that he’d locked away for years, enough to make his mind conjure up new ways to find a release.
He wanted it. He so wanted it.
He was quickly taken back to the times that it was just the two of them, alone like they were now, inside of the Prefect Compartment on the train to Hogwarts, inside a crowded broom closet with nothing but the others’ bodies to explore.
He’d be lying if he said that he didn’t imagine those events happening again, events where he ran his fingers over her exposed skin, where he felt his lips pulled over hers in a fit of momentary passion. It was more than enough to make him want more, right here, right now, and when she expressed that she was more than willing… Well, a bloke couldn’t find it in himself to turn her away.
She was sober enough, the only indication that said otherwise being in the red of her cheeks, which was such a stark contrast to the whiteness of her skin. Of course he wanted this break. Of course he did.
“Do you need a break? Reckon we could sort out a compromise, yeah?”
She shrugged one shoulder and leaned back in her seat, acting like she hadn’t just twisted his world on its head and made him want to get all the closer to her. That maddening smile— almost a smirk, really— still played at the corners of her mouth. “Reckon we could. Who doesn’t need a break these days?”
“Voldemort and his cronies, apparently,” he replied, feigning nonchalance. He picked up the glass, holding it out to her. “Want the rest? Got to make sure that every sickle isn’t put to waste before we go.”
She took it from him, nearly rolling her eyes. “War makes everyone practical.” She downed the last swallow and a half and put the glass back on the table with force, like it was something that she conquered. “Lead the way.”
He rose from his seat, the legs of the chair squeaking unattractively across the floor, and she followed suit. Without so much as a glance back at the bar, they left.
Something had been amiss all right, but with his finger now pinpointed on what exactly it had been, he couldn’t will himself to care any less.
He had other plans for the night.
--
Lily didn't know what possessed her, exactly.
Maybe it was the idea of Mary finding out that she ran into James Potter— the same James Potter who snuck into a few too many of her teenage dreams— at a bar when she was alone and did little more than mumble an apology for actually running into him.
Even though, really, he should be the one apologizing, since he was the one who dumped a drink over her shirt— the one she specifically picked to make her eyes shine, even in the dim lights of a bar. Women had a tendency to over-apologize, she knew. She’d told herself the same thing a hundred times and still hadn’t managed to break the habit.
The spark behind his glasses didn’t help matters.
Maybe it was because she already felt on edge— untethered and unattached to anything, including her own idea of herself. Lily could be anyone she wanted to be for the night. Her friend might have left before the night felt properly over to tend to a sick boyfriend, but Lily only had a half-packed flat waiting for her.
What was one more drink and maybe— if she was lucky and daring enough— one more night away from the boxes?
Of course, she didn't really have to admit anything to Mary. She could send her an owl the next day, guilting her for leaving Lily to her own devices in the way of best friends. She could spin a tale of woe and convince Mary to come out with her again before everything changed.
She didn’t have to tell her friend that she had managed to run into the one boy who tangled up her thoughts. She didn’t have to tell her that he spilled a drink on her and still had those flashing hazel eyes that made any person who liked boys want to lean in and learn more.
She didn’t have to tell her that her heart still jumped and her skin still pricked, like it did when they were teenagers.
She didn’t have to tell her anything.
Mary only left her alone for a few minutes, and such brief loneliness didn’t necessarily mean that she needed another drink. She could be practical and productive— go home, pour a glass of wine, turn the radio on too loud, and finish packing. She could excuse herself from the situation and pretended it never happened. Pretend seeing him again didn’t make her feel like a schoolgirl who could never get what she wanted but wanted to try anyway.
But in matters of James Potter, she was rarely practical or productive.
All it took was re-introducing herself, half convinced that he forgot about the little prefect he knew at school, and noticing that small spark of recognition she so desperately hoped to see. One mention of their past, and she started flirting. One mention of their clandestine meetings and her silly two-drink brain wanted to find a way to get back to it.
Two-drink Lily, she found, was hardly subtle.
It was a good thing Mary left to pay attention to Reg, because it would have been far too embarrassing if she was still there to judge her every move. It was far too much like it was five years ago where Lily knew every empty classroom and closet between the Great Hall and Gryffindor Common Room.
Part of her thought Mary would have been enough to stop this grab at a past fling, but another part of her said she was getting particularly good at lying to herself.
With her fingers intertwined with his and the night air cool on her face, she wasn’t sure she wanted to argue with herself. She had the right to have a good time with a person who clearly wanted her company.
What was one night?
As an early fall breeze cut through them, Lily took the excuse to press herself against his side. He hadn’t given her an open invitation to touch him, exactly, but her meaning had to be clear, if it made them leave the bar that quickly without any notice.
“Where to?”
His arm flew out to hold her tightly against him, and with one step forward— Destination, Determination, Deliberation— they found themselves inside of his flat.
“Here.”
“Great,” she replied, light-headed from the combination of side-along apparation and how his body burned against hers, even through several layers of clothing. Reaching for his other hand, she took a step back and placed herself in front of him, chin tilted up to meet his gaze. One hand inched up his arm, itching to do something to pull him closer. “Could I…?”
“Yes. Merlin, yes.”
That was all the confirmation she needed. In one quick motion, she rose onto her toes, forgetting about every practical thing she could be doing, like taping boxes and selling off furniture. The only real, tangible thought that she could process was the fact that she was going to know what it would be like to kiss him again.
Again. They were going to do it again.
Wrapping one arm around his neck, she pulled him down so they could meet halfway, crashing their lips together in a decent imitation of their messy teenage sessions.
No, not decent.
It was more than decent, better than anything they ever shared in their secret meetings, which were always rushed and terrifying at the chance that they might be caught.
They had no such fears now.
He tasted like a trace of their shared drinks and fire, burning through her veins and fogging her mind until she couldn’t think about anything but the way his fingers lit up her nerves and his kiss felt like pure energy. She pressed herself closer, desperate to close the space between them and chase the rush of feelings, but he wasn’t going anywhere, didn’t want to go anywhere else.
It was not enough and too much at the same time. Not enough time for everything and too much space between them for anything.
“Let’s move this to the bedroom,” he murmured against her lips, and a warm, pleasant feeling shot through her.
“Yeah,” she sighed easily, drunk on something more powerful than hastily poured drinks from the bar. Her head swam deliciously, and she never wanted it to stop. No excuse to separate was good enough, so she stumbled forward with her arms still around him, hoping he could guide them to the right place without looking.
Sure enough, he navigated the flat without removing his fingers from her skin or detaching his mouth from hers, as if they were held together by some unknown force. In what could have been an hour or perhaps only a few seconds, she felt the back of her head softly find the surface of the bed and his own weight atop her.
His lips pulled off of hers, leaving her flushed and breathless, to hover over her and speak. The sight of him above her was more than enough to make her heart jolt, as if he was the one and only Aphroditus, handsome enough to send her insides into an eternal frenzy.
“You’re gorgeous. You do know that, don’t you?”
“Convince me,” she whispered, dragging him back down to her.
He did just that.
She tried to rid herself of her sweater without breaking contact, but her attempts at shimmying under him only pushed it down her arms and off her shoulders. She knotted a hand in his always-wild hair, using the pillow under her head for leverage. Her shirt still clung to her stomach and chest in sticky-sweet patches, and she longed for something else to take its place— someone else.
James must have been able to read her mind, or maybe she was just that obvious, because his fingers knew exactly where to go and what to do to make her gasp. To make her want to melt against him so it was impossible to get any closer. To make her forget about anything else and want to give him the same dizzying feeling.
Warm hands replaced the chill of her ruined shirt and shock of cool air when clothes were pushed aside to reveal skin. Falling back against the pillows, Lily giggled when his lips found her neck and covered her fluttering pulse, but it quickly turned into a series of content sighs.
It was everything she remembered from those few months of her fifth year, everything that set her heart racing and legs shaking. Everything but better.
There was no broom digging into her back or constant worry that Filch would hear a strange noise and come knocking. His current shirt had fewer buttons than their uniforms, so she could touch his skin sooner and press a kiss over his rapidly beating heart.
No reason why they couldn’t take their time, take all night, learn what was just right.
Two-drink Lily— nearly three-drink Lily, really, if she counted the drinks shared between them— needed to make her decisions far more often, she decided, if they all ended up like this.

The 100 Ask Game
I was tagged by @thelittlefanpire @mamabearsdontthink @she-who-the-river-could-not-hold
1. What Station on the Ark would you be from?
This is a hard one. I don’t really know which one I would belong in. I mean I can be cocky and say that I belong in Alpha just based on my leadership role as a supervisor. Or I can go with the less cocky answer and say Factory station because of my time helping others.
2. What would you get arrested for on the Ark?
I would get arrested for being one of the ones that steals to help others.
3. Would you take off your wristband when you landed on the ground?
Depends on how serious my crime is and if they need to know that I’m alive. Okay let’s be real here for a second...if Bellamy Blake asked me to take it off the wristband it’s going in the pile with the rest.
4. What would the necklace Finn would make for you look like? (Clarke: deer/Raven: a raven duh..)
I think a cat
5. If you could resurrect any MINOR character who would it be?
Oh boy that would be a hard one to answer...Wells or Roan but I don’t think that Roan counts as a minor character.
6. Create a squad of 5 characters to go on missions with. Who are they?
Clarke, Bellamy, Murphy, Raven, and Monty.
7. What Grounder Clan would you belong to you?
I would probably belong to Flokru just because of their peaceful nature
8. What would your name be in Trigedasleng? (example: Octavia=Okteivia…just make it up!)
Tricia=Treesha (I really don’t think that looks right)
9. Thoughts on Finn? Some people hate him, and others love him, so I’m curious
You know in the beginning I didn’t mind him and when I say that it was definitely the few episodes before Raven came down. Then he became an irritating mess that just needed to go.
10. Be honest. How willing would you have been to take the chip without knowing all the horrible things it does?
Oh man I probably would’ve just to be like the cool kids and not have to deal with everything that I have going on but then again there is the whole unknown that I couldn’t handle. So probably not
11. What character do you relate to most?
John Murphy. Alright, Alright pick your jaws up off the floor. I relate to him on so many levels. There are a lot of things in my background that give me the ability to understand him. I am in a good place mentally and emotionally but that wasn’t always the case.
12. What character do you like the least?
Echo...I just have no use for her. Also just an FYI my dislike for TT bleeds into my dislike for Echo not the other way around.
13. Describe your delinquent outfit. (Would you wear something like Murphy’s jacket with the spikey red shoulder patch or have a trademark like Jasper’s goggles? Be creative, yet practical)
I’m wearing black leggings, combat boots, dark grey henley that is over sized. I would probably have a signature jacket of some kind. Probably more like a zip up hoodie or a pull over. I mean that is basically what I wear everyday.
14. Favorite type of mutant animal?
Those butterflies are beyond beautiful.
15. What would your job be on the Ark?
I would be a social worker or counselor
16. Would you have willingly pumped Ontari’s heart if Abby asked?
For Clarke absolutely. If Abby just needed me to probably not.
17. If Lexa wasn’t Heda, but she was still alive then who would have made the best commander?
Roan
18. How would you act if you ate the hallucinogenic nuts like Jasper and Monty?
My lazy ass would just sit there and just ride the trip
19. How would you have dealt with Charlotte’s crime? A more John Murphy approach or Bellamy Blake approach?
I would probably approach it like John Murphy because I am prone to rash decisions.
20. Who should have been the Chancellor, if anyone?
I don’t like the idea of Chancellors but I think that Clarke and Bellamy have the capacity to lead together.
21. Would you have been on Pike’s side like Bellamy or on Kane’s side? Or Clarke in Polis?
I would probably be Clarke in Polis, advocating for the entire group.
22. Mount Weather had a lot of modern commodities. (example: Maya’s Ipod) What is the one thing you would snatch while there?
Books that people only ever talked about but that I could finally read.
23. What would your Grounder tattoos look like? Hairstyle? War paint?
I would be covered in tattoos but they would be tasteful in their design. I definitely could see the tree of life etched on my back with stars flowing down my arms. I would probably have my hair braided to keep it from becoming a tangled mess of frizzy curls. I don’t think I would have war paint. I don’t like things on my face lol
24. Favorite quote?
“If I’m on that list, you’re on that list” - Bellamy Blake
25. If all of the characters were in the Hunger Games, who would have the best shot at winning?
Octavia
26. Least favorite ship? Favorite canon ship? Favorite non canon ship? NOT INCLUDING CL OR BC OR BE
Least: Kabby
Favorite canon: Marper
Favorite non-canon: Murven
27. A song that should be included in the next season? If there had to be another guest star like Shawn Mendes on the show, who would you want to make a cameo?
Where We Are by Billie the Kid. And I think that I would love to see Hozier on the show to make a cameo
28. What would you do if you were stuck in the bunker with Murphy for all that time?
Oh boy that’s a lot to unpack. There would be braiding each other’s hair, talking through trauma, alcoholic mothers, singing, and dancing. It would basically be one giant slumber party where we lot our minds together.
29. Your an extra that gets killed off. How do you die?
I’m getting an arrow to the face.
30. A character you’d like to learn more about and get flashbacks of?
I want more story on Indra and Emori.
31. A character you’d bang?
Ummmmm...the majority of them let’s be real. They’re all gorgeous and fun in their own way.
32. Would you stay in the Bunker? Go up to Space? Or live on your own in Eden?
Eden
33. In the Bunker, would you follow Octavia? What would you do to pass the time underground?
I think you have to follow her or die. I’m gonna live especially after all the shit from before the bunker. I would probably be making babies and cute ones cause we know I’m good at that one.
34. What crime would you commit in the Bunker that lands you in the fighting pits?
Having too many babies...
35. Up in Space, who would you bond with first? Who would be the most difficult for you to get along with?
I would be with Murphy. We would take turns on who got the empty side of the ring. Echo would be the most difficult for me to get along with because she shouldn’t have been there in the first place. I will forever be salty about that one.
36. How long do you think you would last on Earth by yourself?
I think that I could last pretty well on my own. I don’t really like being around people and if I don’t have to be even better. I would probably spend my days sleeping and exploring.
37. When the Eligius ship lands what do you do?
Run...always just run
38. Favorite Eligius character? Least favorite?
Diyoza is definitely a favorite. Least favorite would have to be McCreary.
39. Would you Spacewalk?
Hell fucking yes
40. Would you prefer to eat Windshield Bugs, Space Algae, or Bunker Meat?
Space algae
41. Would you start a war for the last spot of green on earth? What would your solution be to avoid it?
I would find a way to cohesively live together with the prisoners/criminals or find a way to get the Eligius IV logs open
42. Would you rather dig out flesh-eating worms or stick thumb drives into bullet holes?
Have to go with the thumb drives into bullet holes. I would not want to touch those worms or be accidentally killed by them.
43. Are you willing to poison your sister for the Traitor Who You Love? What would you do to stop Octavia?
In a heartbeat if I thought that was the only way to win.
44. Would you go to sleep in cryo or stay awake like Marper?
I would go to sleep like a baby
45. Who are you waking up first to explore the new planet?
I’m taking Clarke, Bellamy, and Murphy..

Blood Sacrifice: Savage renews these powers through the consumption of his enemies' blood. Savage must also harvest the organs of his blood descendants to sustain his immortal life.
Tumblr media
Origins
Vandar Adg was a caveman and leader of the Blood Tribe who was born 50,000 years ago. When he was a teenager, a mysterious man killed his father, who was named Vandar Adg. When Adg grew to the manhood, a mysterious meteor crashed to the ground, bathing him in radiation, and granting him incredible intellect and immortality. An observer from the Bear Tribe would later approach that same meteorite and become Savage's eternal nemesis, the Immortal Man, possessing the power to resurrect as a new persona every time he is killed.
He took the name Vandal Savage but he was banned from the Blood Tribe after losing a fight to Bruce Wayne, who was lost in time. His first mark on history came when he and a select group of people successfully undermined and destroyed the lost city of Atlantis. That group of people became known as the Illuminati, with Savage serving as its leader, then and ever since.
In 2578 BC, Nabu, a Lord of Order, created the Scarab with the help of a time traveler from the 20th Century. This was an attempt to overthrow Savage, who was at that time the pharaoh called Khafre; an impostor instead was killed in his place.
Around 1000 AD, a prophecy by a soothsayer told him he one day meet "The Hanged Man" who will meddle with the pair of Black Lantern he discovered. He decided to create the city of Sapristi in Bohemia along with a fortress to trap to "Hanged Man."
In 1358 AD, Savage returned on hunt for the hanged man. Every time he returned he used the spheres in his possession to emit an emotional aura which pleasantly enrages him, and causes the city of Sapristi to erupt into rage and chaos. He toured the city over the centuries in hunt for his future rival.
In 1718 AD, Savage adopted the name of Edward Thatch, also known as the pirate Blackbeard and became a prominent figure in the criminal world. Using this name, Savage started looking for the treasure of the Miagani and defeated "The Black Pirate" in his quest. However, he came across Bruce Wayne once again and Savage was tricked after reaching the mysterious cave. After losing most of his crew, Savage was forced to retreat from Gotham and months later, rumors about Blackbeard's death began to spread across the land. However, the man who was killed was one of Savage's own crew. Savage survived and let everyone believe that Blackbeard was dead.
Once again in the 19th century, Savage adopted a new identity under the name of Monsieur Savage. He settled in Gotham City after he stole gold from Napoleon Bonaparte and learned of a secret box that held the secret to eternal life. As he had been diagnosed with a cancer, he sought the box to extend his already long-lived existence with help from bounty hunter Jonah Hex and a man called Thomas Wayne. However, his efforts were once again thwarted by Bruce Wayne, who retrieved the box from him and left him unconscious after another confrontation.
Over the centuries, Savage's name appeared over and over again in Western history, as adviser to kings and pharaohs in Sumer, Egypt, and Europe. He claimed to have ruled hundreds of civilizations under hundreds of names: Khafre, Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan, and Vlad the Impaler, to name a few. He had also worked as close friends and advisers to the likes of Erik the Red, Napoleon Bonaparte, Ra's al Ghul, Otto von Bismarck and Adolf Hitler. He was the court physician in France, and even used the royal family for syphilis experiments.
Tumblr media
Modern Age
Beginning in the 1940s, Savage frequently battled the Justice Society of America. One attempt to capture the members of the Justice Society out of revenge was thwarted by two Flashes, Jay Garrick and Barry Allen.
Ultimately, Savage's enemy, the Immortal Man, erased himself from existence to save the world during the Crisis on Infinite Earths, and Mitch Shelley, the Resurrection Man, an amnesiac with similar powers, took over as Savage's nemesis. However, Savage's list of foes is not limited to those two individuals. Having lived so long, Savage has butted heads with possibly every single hero in past, present, and future, most notably the Justice Society of America and the Justice League of America. At present, Savage is about 52,000 years old.
Over time, Savage forgot many of his special powers, and never exhibited them to Barry Allen. However, he later began a quest to recharge them by killing. His first intended victim was Wally West, who by then had taken over the mantle of the Flash. During this time, he operated the Villers Gallery, an antique salon on Fifth Avenue in New York City. A private investigator by the name of Harold Halston from Thermopolis, Wyoming had been investigating one Varney Sack at the request of a local realtor. Sack turned out to be Savage, and the immortal man killed Halston once he figured the the private eye knew too much. In a showdown at the Club Neon, Wally, with the help of Frances Kane, fought Savage. He fell out of a window, but he disappeared before he hit the ground.
Savage surfaced again later, this time selling Velocity 9, a highly addictive super-speed drug of his own creation, which interfered with much of the existing drug trade in New York. He put an ad in the paper that attracted successful yuppies, who he used to do his bidding by giving them Velocity 9 so they could perform high speed crimes. However, these junkies aged at magnificent rates and suffered strokes easily.
Savage wished to use the heroin distribution network headed by mob boss Nick Bassaglia to distribute Velocity 9 to lawyers and stockbrokers, hoping to gain financial control of New York. However, Flash, who had gone looking for Bassaglia after he was kidnapped by Savage, was injected with Velocity 9.  After giving him a short spurt of incredible speed, it took away his powers. Hoping that a second dose would make him another one of his junkies, Savage told Dr. Conrad Bortz to inject the Flash, who instead injected Savage, who ran away.
He reappeared later, wanting money to leave the country. This money he attempted to acquire by kidnapping Rosie, the daughter of Wally's landlord, Mr. Gilchrist, with a ransom of five million dollars. He set many traps for the Flash, who was looking for Rosie, which led him to Barry Allen's grave, where Rosie was being kept. However, throughout all of this, Savage never showed his face.
Originally Savage was a member of Alexander Luthor's Secret Society of Super-Villains, but he quit and told Lex not to contact him for any reason. This was likely because his daughter Scandal was working against the Society as part of the Secret Six. When the Society lodged a final ambush against the Six, Vandal threatened to kill Luthor if he did not call off the attack, saying that he could not allow anyone to harm his daughter. Whether this was a case of fatherly concern or Vandal has ulterior motives for his daughter remains to be seen.

One Year Later
During the wake of the Infinite Crisis, Savage took a drastic turn his own ways on taking over the world in which he decided to restart human civilization by destroying Earth by pulling an asteroid into the planet. While leading a doomsday cult to help his plan accomplish, Savage's plot was foiled by the Flash and the asteroid was sent back into space, along with Savage. Eventually the asteroid fell back to Earth with Savage, who then discovered his immortality was declining and would therefore lead to his own demise. Savage chose to preserve his life by stealing the DNA of Green Lantern Alan Scott. Using a deformed clone of the original Sandman, Wesley Dodds, Vandal Savage's plans of capturing Scott failed. However, Savage found himself surviving by inhumane means when consuming a clone of himself, preserving his life a year longer.
Savage would later form a group of super-powered Neo-Nazis called the Fourth Reich to murder the heirs of several Golden Age superhero bloodlines, in the belief that eliminating the bloodlines will eliminate the heroes' legacies and allow him to continue his goal of reshaping the world according to his own desires. His victims include Minute-Man, Mister America, and General Glory, along with their families. Savage took the liberty of personally eliminating Wildcat and his son Tom Bronson himself, but only to be underestimated by Bronson's transformation into a cat-like creature who was able to overcome Savage. Ultimately, Savage's slaughter ended with his temporary defeat by Wildcat and his son, and the Fourth Reich defeated by the Justice Society.
Tumblr media
Salvation Run
Savage was captured by American government authorities and was among of many villains that were secretly deported to the hell planet called "Salvation," which unknown to the deportees and their handlers that the planet was a training ground for the Parademons of Apokolips. Surviving the planet's deadly flora and fauna, Savage used his knowledge to locate a "safe zone" freed from any predators. He lead a group of all-female villains to this safe zone with intentions of mating them and to build his own civilization. However, the women turned against him once they learned that he had been manipulating them to turn against each other. Ultimately, Savage escaped back to Earth along with the villains following an attack by Parademons sent by Desaad.
Tumblr media
Final Crisis
After returning to Earth, Savage became a member of the Society's second incarnation underneath Libra, serving as one of his inner cabinet members, during the Final Crisis. He also became involved with the Religion of Crime and was revealed to be actually the man the Religion of Crime worships as "Cain", the original murderer and sinner. Savage was reborn as Cain after cultists of the Religion of Crime plunged the Spear of Destiny into him. As Cain, he went on a path of revenge against the Spectre for punishing Cain in the past.
Managing to defeat the Spectre, Cain used the Spear of Destiny to separate the Spirit of Vengeance from his human host, Crispus Allen, and made him his slave. Though he almost has his revenge Cain's plan went undone by The Question, who managed to steal the Spear and reunite the Spectre with Crispus Allen. The Spectre spared from killing Cain as forbidden by God and instead had him branded by the Mark of Cain, being forever reviled and persecuted by the world until God feels that this punishment was justified.
Savage walked the Earth after his devastating defeat before coming across and assisting his colleague Ra's al Ghul and the Outsiders on defeating Savage's former tribesmen called the Insiders, who were exposed to the same meteor that granted Savage immortality. Savage would later on encounter the Huntress and The Question, managing through threats against the both of their lives to get The Question to take the Mark of Cain from him and carry it herself.

Fun Facts
Savage will possibly meet his end in the year 85,271 A.D., when he is sent back in time to 20th century Montevideo, Uruguay, seconds before it is decimated by a nuclear weapon, an action that was, ironically, ordered by Savage himself. This is, however, only one possible future for Savage.
Archaeological evidence has suggested that Vandal Savage is actually the inventor of Cannibalism.
Vandal Savage has been alive for centuries. As such he has influenced a few notable people in history, he was influenced by a few others and he actually was a few people in history. These people include Licinius, Varney Sack, Burt Villers, Khafre, Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan, Vlad the Impaler and Jack the Ripper.
According to Savage, 34,000 years ago he invented the carving knife, 3,200 years ago he fought alongside Moses to lead the Isrealites out of Egypt from the Pharoah's rule, and 1,600 years he survived the destruction of the library of Alexandria.

Young Justice: “Infiltrator”
Tumblr media
Warning, Spoilers Ahead…
 Episode 6: “Infiltrator”
August 7, Infinity Island - Roy sneaks into a fortress to rescue a scientist.
The opening scene is a nice testament to Roy’s skill.
Back at the fortress, Sensei/Silver Monkey is informed “She finished. We are good to go.”
Can someone please call this man by name?  He’s appeared in both the Young Justice cartoon and comic books and he is never identified. I know he’s either Sensei or Silver Monkey but can we please get a definite answer.
I paused for some quick visual research.  I’m leaning towards Sensei.
Let’s detour for a quick recap of the tangled family history of the House of Al Ghul.
Ra’s al Ghul and Talia debuted in the1970s. Ra’s is “the Demon’s Head” and the founder/leader of the League of Assassins/Shadows.  Ra’s was born over 700 years ago and uses the Lazarus Pits to extend his lifestyle. Talia is torn between her duty to her father and her love of Batman.
Simple so far but that never lasts in comics.
Sensei was introduced later. Despite earlier claims of Ra’s discovering the Lazarus Pits and founding the League of Assassins it is revealed that Sensei was the original leader of the League.  Sensei is also the father of Ra’s al Ghul and has been driven insane by centuries-long use of the Lazarus Pits.
Making Ra’s a lying liar who lies about his history. But that wouldn’t surprise anyone so it’s easy to handwave away the discrepancy.
Ra’s first wife (pre-transformation into the Demon’s Head) was named Sora. No children resulted from this union. Sora’s death would start Ra’s on his world domination quest.
Ra’s has one son. Dusan, aka the White Ghost, was an albino so Ra’s down-graded his son to “servant” level. We’re never told Dusan’s age or mother. Dusan would later sacrifice himself to extend Ra’s life.  Read the “Resurrection of Ra’s Al Ghul” for Dusan’s story.
Ra’s eldest daughter is Nyssa. She was born in the 18th century.  Nyssa has a livid hatred for Ra’s after he left her family to die in concentration camps in World War II. Read “Batman: Death And The Maidens” for Nyssa’s story and quest for vengeance.  Nyssa has appeared in the “Arrow” show but I am way behind on the series so I can’t give you the details.
The youngest member of the Al Ghul clan is Damian/Ibn.  Damian’s been all over the place in the comic books and animation so I’m not going into his backstory.  I will recommend Kingdom Come and the Kingdom for anyone curious about Ibn.  He doesn’t play a big part but Alex Ross does an excellent job portraying the first meeting between an adult Ibn and Bruce.  You can feel Ibn’s desire to meet and curiousity about his father just from the art.
If you want to read more of Damian or the details of his conception, the following series are a good start: “Batman: Son of the Demon”, “Batman and Son”, “The Resurrection of Ra’s Al Ghul”, Batman and Robin (both volumes), Kingdom Come, the Kingdom, and Super Sons.
There is also the Heretic – a rapidly-aged clone of Damian.  He killed Damian only to be executed by Talia.  Read “Batman Incorporated” for the Damian-Heretic story.
Back to the cartoon…
August 8: The Young Justice gang – minus Wally – are having some fun in the sun at Mount Justice. Wally, a Mid-Western boy, has started school earlier than the others.
Dick declares “First a moment of silence for our absent comrade.”
We switch to Wally who is suffering through “the first day of sophomore year”.
The opening montage nicely demonstrates the frustration a speedster would endure at a normal human-pace day.
An X-Factor issue from the 1990’s had Quicksilver demonstrate the same frustration.  It was an excellent insight into Pietro’s head.
DC and Marvel speedsters have the same dilemma but Marvel’s turn out snarky and sarcastic and DC’s become sweet and lovable.
The YJ gang swim, cook out, and play volleyball while Wally suffers various indignities and frustrations.
Finally, the school day is over! Wally yells “Woo-hoo!” and tears out of the building.  Whether it’s work or school, we’ve all been there.
Wally, in beach attire, zooms over to Mount Justice.  Unfortunately, the beach party is over and everyone’s in costume.
“The Wallman is here.”
Wally meets the love of his life but it’s not love at first sight.
“The Wallman, huh? Love the uniform. What exactly are your powers? – Artemis, so sassy.
Green Arrow introduces Artemis as his new protégé.
Wally demands “What happened to your old one?”
Speedy chooses that moment to enter Young Justice.
“For starters, he doesn’t go by Speedy anymore. Call me Red Arrow.”
Roy and Oliver waste no time going at each other. In Oliver’s defense, Roy started it. Artemis enters the argument to defend her skills.
Wally: “Who are you?”
Oliver and Artemis both repeat the “niece” line.
Dick interjects “Another niece?”
That comment could go two ways.  The first way is Dick realizes the story is a sham and is causing trouble.  Even though Batman is five feet away from Dick!
The second interpretation…well, Oliver has as many kids as Bruce.  The majority of Bruce’s children resulting from adoption.  The majority of Ollie’s did not.  Especially if you believe Ollie to be the father of Arrowette. Does Dick feel that this is another illegitimate child of Oliver – one that he’s passing off as a niece?
Kaldur reassures Roy: “But she is not your replacement. We have always wanted you on the team and we have no quota on archers.”
Wally: “And if we did, you know who we’d pick.”
Artemis doesn’t back down: “Whatever, Baywatch. I’m here to stay.”
Artemis puts on a tough façade but you know she had to be insecure in this moment.  She’s very concerned about her teammates discovering her parentage and then the original Green Arrow protégé waltzes into the room? The much more experienced and accomplished one? The protégé that Dick, Wally, and Kaldur consider a good friend? Talk about a nightmare!
Roy tells the team about Dr. Serling Roquette, a nano-robotics expert and claytronics expert aka the scientist Roy rescued earlier in the episode.
Serling was abducted from Star City two weeks ago by the League of Shadows.
Dick’s excited: “You want us to rescue her from the League of Shadows?”
I can see Batman shaking his head from across the room: “No, Robin, you don’t get to storm the League of Shadow’s headquarters.  Young Justice is about “training wheels” missions not “put your big boy pants on” missions.
Roy admits he already rescued Serling. The problem is Serling had finished her work on “the Fog” – a weapon “comprised of millions of microscopic robots, nanotech infiltrators, capable of disintergrating anything in their path. Concrete, steel, flesh, bone. But its true purpose isn’t mere destruction. It’s theft. The infiltrators eat and store raw data from any computer system and deliver the stolen intel to the Shadows. Providing them access to strategic defense, cutting edge science and tech.”
Artemis pipes in with “It sounds like the Shadows”.
Wally counters “Like you know anything about the Shadows.”
Artemis smirks at Wally. You’d be surprised, Wally, at the depth of knowledge Artemis has on criminal organizations.
Wally doesn’t like the smirk: “Who are you?!”
Roy informs the group that Serling is working on creating a virus that renders the Fog inert.
Dick quickly realizes that would put Serling’s life in danger.
Oliver offers to help Roy keep Serling safe.  Roy bitterly rejects the offer.  Batman lays a hand on Oliver’s shoulder to stop the impending argument.
The cartoon’s creators inverted the typical Ollie-Roy positions.  In the comics, it’s Ollie who’s causing/escalating the divide.  In the cartoon, Ollie is much more level-headed and attempting to mend difference.  Roy rejects and peace offering and escalates their confrontations.
Roy proclaims his job is done and leaves the team.  Wally glares at Artemis.
Miss Martian telepathically links us the team and Serling at Happy Harbor High School.
Wally and Artemis continue to bicker.  Wally informs Artemis that he “does not need attitude from the newbie who drove Red Arrow off the team”.
Dick tells Wally to cut Artemis some slack as she is the one who saved him in the battle against Amazo.
Serling, at Aqualad’s urging, goes online to track the Fog’s location. Tracking goes both ways and the League of Shadows quickly discovers Serling’s location.  Sensei orders the closest operative to assassinate Serling.
Superboy, Miss Martian, and Artemis are patrolling the outside of the school.  Artemis is very appreciative of Superboy’s physique: “Hmm, that boy.”
Megan does not want anyone intruding on her obsessive crush: “He can hear you. We all can hear you.”
Artemis replies “Oh, I know.”
I love the Artemis/Wally pairing but I’m Team Artemis in this encounter.  Artemis is simply appreciating Superboy’s appearance in a teenager-like way.  Megan’s pursuit of Conner is an attempt to mold and then slot him into this fantasy life she has created for herself.  Megan may love Conner but it’s not a healthy relationship.
Serling has located the Fog. Kaldur orders Superboy and Robin to pursue in the bio-ship.
This is the second episode in a row where Robin and Superboy have been partnered up.  It’s almost an homage to the close friendship in the comic books.  Except the Robin is Tim Drake.
Cheshire makes her first appearance, skulking in the bushes.
Megan confronts Artemis: “You embarrassed Superboy.”
Artemis: “Didn’t hear him say that.”
Honestly, Megan you might as well declare “Get away from my man!”
Cheshire infiltrates the school and quickly takes out Kid Flash.
Cheshire has a harder time with Kaldur – Atlantean skin is quite dense and he’s mostly immune to the jellyfish toxin she has on her shuriken.
Cheshire retreats when she has to face the entire team.
Wally blames Artemis for Cheshire gaining entrance into the school. Megan defends Artemis.
Robin and Superboy arrive in Philadelphia. STAR Labs has been completely destroyed.
Kaldur and Megan patrol the outside of the school while Wally and Artemis guard the doctor.
Wally and Artemis glare at each other.  Kaldur orders the duo: “Stop it. Both of you. I can hear you glaring.”
Cheshire has called in reinforcements – Black Spider and the Hook. The trio make quick work of Kaldur.
The trio storm the room and attack Wally and Artemis.  Readers of the comic book know that this is the second time Wally has fought the Hook and Black Spider.
Cheshire attempts to land a killing blow on Serling only to realize she’s a disguised Miss Martian.
Serling is at the Sandbox Internet Café, guarded by Kaldur, and she has discovered the Fog’s next target: WayneTech.
Robin has an “Oh, crap” moment as he realizes the Fog would end up accessing the Batcave.
Cheshire orders her comrades to keep Young Justice busy while she pursues Serling.
Artemis storms after Cheshire and orders Wally to “take the rest down”.
Wally tells Artemis “You are so not the boss of me”.
“Just do it!”
Superboy and Robin arrive at WayneTech.  Superboy attacks the League minions while Robin enters the building. A security guard attempts to lock down the building due to Robin’s unauthorized entry but Dick overrides the lockdown: “Waynetech override. Archie four.” Possible shout-out to Archie Goodwin, a writer on the Batman series. Or Dick is fan of the Riverdale gang.
Cheshire and Artemis fight. Cheshire wins.  Megan and Wally take out the Hook and Black Spider.
Cheshire decides against killing Serling as the anti-Fog virus has been completed: “After all, the Shadows may have another use for you.”
Dick’s quick hacking saves Wayne Tech.
Superboy battles Ojo and makes quick work of him.
Cheshire and Artemis have a short fight. Artemis realizes Cheshire is Jade, her older sister.
Cheshire escapes.  The rest of the team arrives. Wally claims the Cheshire mask as a souvenir.
Artemis returns to Gotham City. She is immediately confronted by Roy.  He warns her “do not hurt my friends” but assures her that “her cover is safe” as he feels Oliver and Bruce have a “good reason for lying”.
Sensei is informed of the mission’s failure but states it’s good that they “have an operative on the inside”.
The first hint of the long-running traitor storyline of season 1.
I mentioned earlier Artemis recognized Cheshire as her sister.  I should clarify that wasn’t made explicit in the episode. Cheshire simply hinted that she had information on Artemis that would weaken her position in Young Justice.  The cartoon hasn’t mentioned Artemis’s criminal parents at this point either.
Adding Cheshire into the Crock family is an interesting choice. Jade has no connection in the main DC universe.  I can’t recall a time Cheshire has even met Artemis in the DC universe.
Jade was a half-French/half-Vietnamese child who was sold into slavery in the Middle East.  She later escaped and became a mercenary/assassin. Jade married and later became the widow of Spitting Cobra, an African assassin.
Roy Harper went undercover for the United States government.  He met and fell in love with Cheshire.  Roy left Jade because he was unwilling to finish his assignment and capture her.  Roy didn’t realize Jade was pregnant.
The former lovers encountered one another on a mountain top.  The Titans were attempting to prevent Cheshire from assassinating diplomats unaware she was setting up the team to take the blame for the failed diplomatic teams.  Cheshire informed Roy that she had given birth to their child but that he would never meet said child.
Roy later tracked down Jade and begged to meet his child.  Jade relented and Roy met Lian.
The 1990s were not kind to Cheshire – she went from a scheming mercenary/assassin to a genocidal nutcase. The highlight of Jade’s insanity was unleashing a nuclear bomb on a country, killing every inhabitant.
Needless to say, Roy won full custody.
Cheshire’s portrayal improved significantly under Gail Simone.  Jade had a rivalry with Black Canary over Dinah’s role in Lian’s life.  Cheshire also played a significant role in Villains United/Secret Six.  She became pregnant- and later gave birth – to Thomas “Catman” Blake’s son.
Jade would suffer enormous tragedy when both her children were killed.  If I remember correctly, the Blake child’s death was faked in order to keep him from both Jade and Thomas’s enemies.  I could be wrong – it’s been a while since I read the issues.
Lian’s death, unfortunately, wasn’t faked.
Roy and Jade would have a short-lived, extremely toxic reunion in the aftermath of Lian’s death.
Flashpoint happened shortly afterwards and DC was reborn as the New 52. Cheshire’s made a few appearances in Red Hood & The Outlaws, Nightwing, and a few other titles.  Jade and Roy are former lovers.  Sadly, we didn’t receive a New 52 Lian. Boo!
For more of Cheshire, besides Young Justice (which is the best version of Jade), I would recommend her late 1980s Teen Titans appearances, her appearances in Birds of Prey (Gail Simone version), and Villains United and Secret Six.

Best PC Games to Play in 2021
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
We’re entering a golden age for PC gaming. The next generation of graphics cards are capable of pumping out 4K graphics and high FPS on almost any big name release, and real-time raytracing is taking graphics to new heights that weren’t possible just a couple years ago.
Add in Sony bringing more PlayStation ports to the PC and nearly every Xbox exclusive making its way to PCs as well, and a high-end gaming computer looks to be the definitive way to play almost anything over the next few years.
The following is a list of the most anticipated games coming to home computers this year. While release dates are always flexible, these are only titles that have already been released or officially confirmed for 2021.
Back 4 Blood
June 22 | Turtle Rock Studios
Despite persistent rumors of a third Left 4 Dead game entering development, it’s been more than a decade since Valve has released a new entry in the beloved co-op zombie series. Enter Turtle Rock Studios, the studio behind the original Left 4 Dead game, with a spiritual successor, Back 4 Blood.
By all accounts, Back 4 Blood plays a lot like Left 4 Dead. There are safe rooms, tons of melee weapons, an AI director who constantly changes things up, and zombies. Lots and lots of zombies. But there will also be perk cards that add interesting perks and buffs to the experience, making each playthrough unique. If Back 4 Blood can capture the spirit of the original Left 4 Dead, it should be fantastic.
Chivalry 2
June 8 | Torn Banner Studios
Chivalry was once considered one of the PC’s premier multiplayer titles. Could the sequel follow in its footsteps? We’ll find out pretty soon when Chivalry 2 launches exclusively on the Epic Games Store. According to Torn Banner Studios, the sequel aims to deliver combat that’s deep enough to keep players interested for awhile, yet easy for newcomers to pick up for the first time.
The latest gameplay videos show off lots of brutal medieval melee combat, with battlefields absolutely drenched in blood after a few minutes of 64 players hacking away at each other. This should be on your must-buy list in June!
Deathloop
May 21 | Arkane Studios
The best way to describe Deathloop is Hitman meets Groundhog Day. You play as Colt, an assassin stuck on a mysterious island, who must take out eight targets before midnight. If you die or fail to eliminate all targets, the day resets, and you’ll have to start all over again. And all the while you’re also being hunted by Julianna Blake, a rival assassin who doesn’t want you breaking the time loop. She can be controlled by either the AI or another player.
Arkane has a great track record when it comes to unique first-person games like Prey and the Dishonored series. If Deathloop’s heady concept can hold up, it could be another home run for the developer.
Diablo 2: Resurrected
TBA | Vicarious Visions
While Diablo III’s reputation has improved substantially since its controversial 2012 launch, there’s still a vocal group of gamers who prefer the second game in Blizzard’s genre-defining action RPG series. Knowing how much this game means to a lot of people, Vicarious Visions has said it’s not out to reinvent the wheel for Resurrected. The updated 3D graphics will display in 4K, but you can switch back to the original graphics at any point with the press of a button.
And while there will be some quality of life improvements like a shared item stash and automatic gold pickup, don’t expect any revolutionary changes that will spoil the original experience. This should be exactly what we need to tide us over until Diablo IV hits.
Evil Genius 2: World Domination
March 30 | Rebellion Developments
It’s taken 17 years to get a sequel to the criminally underrated Evil Genius, but it’s finally here. If you never had the pleasure of playing the original, imagine being a James Bond villain and managing your own secret lair to build a weapon of mass destruction and eventually take over the world. Yeah, it’s pretty awesome.
World Domination promises to be a bigger and better sequel. You’ll be able to pick from four different evil geniuses at the start of the game and one of three islands. Each minion in your lair now has their own personality and traits, so you’ll have to use them more strategically than ever to prevent the Forces of Justice from foiling your evil plans.
Far Cry 6
TBA | Ubisoft
Far Cry 6 was originally supposed to be out by now, but development has slowed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It’s still expected to be out in 2021, though. According to Ubisoft, the theme of the game is revolution against an oppressive government, with substantial research going into how and why revolutions are fought to better develop the game’s setting and story.
Ubisoft certainly picked the right actor to lead an oppressive government, with Breaking Bad and Mandalorian villain Giancarlo Esposito portraying the nefarious “El Presidente” who we’ll be looking to topple later this year.
Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker
TBA | Square Enix
After one of the worst MMORPG launches ever, it’s a miracle that Final Fantasy XIV is still around a decade later. Not only did Square Enix turn things around, this game is now regarded as one of the very best in the genre.
Endwalker, the game’s fourth major expansion pack will conclude the story of the warring gods Hydaelyn and Zodiark, which has been running since the game’s 2013 relaunch. This won’t be the end of the MMO, though. Square still says it has several years worth of stories to tell.
Along with the obligatory new zones and quests, Square has promised two new classes. The first one shown so far, the sage, is a healer who battles with floating swords.
Guilty Gear Strive
April 9 | Arc System Works
The Guilty Gear series has never quite received the same attention as fighting games like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter, but the franchise has quietly earned a reputation as a technically sound alternative for the competitive fighting game community.
The footage of Guilty Gear Strive released so far looks stunning. Arc has perfected the 3D polygonal character on a 2D plane, and the gameplay promises to be more accessible than ever, with the addition of a new dash button and a “wall-stick hit-state” which allows characters knocked into walls to slide down and continue fighting back.
Halo Infinite
TBA | 343 Industries
Halo may be Microsoft’s flagship franchise, but it’s always had a complicated relationship with the PC, with entries only being ported years after their initial release on Xbox (if at all). Halo Infinite will be the first mainline entry in the series to show up on both console and PC at launch, and it’s currently expected some time in the fall.
Halo Infinite’s public unveiling last year didn’t quite go as planned, with footage receiving a rather frosty reception from most fans. There are a lot of rumors of development troubles online, but Microsoft has a good track record of pulling its Halo games together in time for release, so hopefully we’ll end up with another classic game in the series later this year.
Hitman 3
January 20 | IO Interactive
Hitman 3 makes murder fun. Yes, there’s a lot of murder in video games, but true to its namesake, Hitman is more about the setup than the execution. No other franchise has perfected the thrill of expertly sneaking into an area, tracking down a target, and setting up an unfortunate “accident” to get away unscathed. Or just go in guns blazing like a maniac if that’s your kind of thing.
With Hitman 3, you can even import levels from the previous two games to get the full “World of Assassination” experience, but expect further updates throughout the year, including ray tracing.
Humankind
April 22 | Amplitude Studios
As popular as the Civilization series has become over the last three decades, it’s surprising that few developers have been up to the challenge of developing a competitor to Sid Meier’s classic creation. Humankind could be up to the task, though. You’ll lead your civilization across six different eras of human history, selecting one of 10 different civilizations in each era. You can handle relations with other societies diplomatically, but if that goes south, combat is handled as a tactical RPG.
Developer Amplitude Studios has been dipping its toes into the 4X genre over the last decade with the well-received Endless Space and Endless Legend, and now the team are looking to apply everything they’ve learned from those games into Humankind.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
May 14 | BioWare
Gamers have been clamoring for a re-release of the Mass Effect trilogy for years, and the Legendary Edition looks to exceed expectations. All three games will support 4K resolution, higher frame rates, and new graphical effects. The original Mass Effect in particular has seen a number of improvements akin to a partial remake, with improved combat, re-tooled enemy AI, and a faster Mako vehicle for traversing the Milky Way’s many planets.
While the Legendary Edition will include almost all of the DLC from the original trilogy (including some rather awesome add-ons like Lair of the Shadow Broker and Omega), BioWare has also announced a few omissions. Mass Effect 3’s lauded multiplayer mode isn’t going to make the cut, and Pinnacle Station, a much-maligned arena style add-on for the first game won’t be included either due to the loss of its source code.
New World
August 31 | Amazon Games
Amazon has had its sights set on the gaming world for quite some time, quietly pumping money into a number of projects, and New World could be its breakthrough hit. In this MMORPG set on an unnamed land in the Atlantic Ocean in the 1600s, you’ll wield bows, hammers, hatchets, magical staffs, musket rifles, spears, and swords against a variety of fantastical creatures. There will also be plenty of opportunities to gather resources, craft and build settlements. Best of all, there’s no monthly fee to play.
Launching a new IP is always difficult, and MMOs are a particularly difficult genre to break into, but if any company has the resources to succeed, it’s Amazon.
Resident Evil Village
May 7 | Capcom
There was already a ton of hype for the eighth main installment in the Resident Evil franchise following its initial reveal last year, but the introduction of antagonist Lady Dimitrescu aka “Tall Vampire Lady” has put the hype train in overdrive. We still don’t know a lot about the story, but we do expect there will be plenty of run-ins with the 9-foot tall lady and her vampiric daughters.
Village’s first demo gave us our first glimpse of stunning European manor rendered in 4K with ray tracing. The RE Engine was already a looker on last-gen hardware, but Village should be even more stunning when running on a newer graphics card.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
TBA | GSC Game World
We still know remarkably little about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, a game that’s scheduled to release by the end of the year. In December, GSC Game World released an in-engine teaser trailer that looked impressive, with a first-person view of someone running down a hallway in a dilapidated building around Chernobyl.
If the previous games in the series are any indication, we should be in for some truly terrifying encounters and harrowing firefights with twisted irradiated mutants. Here’s hoping we get more info soon.
Total War: Warhammer III
TBA | Creative Assembly
The trailer for the final entry in Creative Assembly’s Total War: Warhammer trilogy looks very cool, with humans mounted on horses and polar bears facing down chaos demons on a frozen battlefield.
The campaign is said to be twice the size of the one in Total War: Warhammer II, and those who own the DLC for all three games will have access to a combined map that will combine patches from maps from all three games for an absolutely massive strategy experience.
Valheim
February 2 | Iron Gate AB
Valheim came out of nowhere to become one of the big success stories of 2021, selling more than a million copies less than three weeks after its early access release. If you aren’t caught up on the latest Steam phenomenon, think of it as Minecraft mixed with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. You and up to nine other friends are dropped off in the middle of a Viking afterlife to survive, craft, and battle mythical creatures.
Iron Gate AB has been vague about what exactly to expect from future updates, but the studio has teased future customization options for homes and ships, and eventually even a new biome to explore.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
TBA | Fatshark
There have been dozens of Warhammer video games over the years, but few have found the success and crossover appeal of Fatshark’s Vermintide games. It turns out that mowing down waves of enemies with three of your friends is just plain fun, no matter the setting.
Darktide features the same Left 4 Dead-inspired gameplay, but moves the battle to the futuristic Warhammer 40,000 setting, incorporating more gunplay along the way. If you liked the Vermintide games, this is pretty much a must-have.
Wrath: Aeon of Ruin
TBA | KillPixel
First-person shooters have come a long way in the last couple of decades, but some times you just want to run and gun in a dark fantasy setting as quickly as possible. And remarkably few modern games provide that experience. Enter Wrath: Aeon of Ruin, a spiritual successor to Quake, Doom, and Hexen, built on the 25-year-old Quake Engine.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
Wrath has been in Early Access since November 2019, and what’s been released so far is very promising, looking and sounding like a lost PC shooter from the late ‘90s. The full game should be out later this year.

Gift Fic Master Post Part Two:
In Other Words, Hold My Hand for MBlair
Stargazing and waltzing on the lake.
Meet Me in the Meadow for MeadowHayle
Ben was not the typical Alpha. Rey was not the typical Omega. Utterly indifferent to other people, only in their fantasies or dreams would they experience desire. After many years of loneliness, they meet in a support group for struggling demi-humans, and everything changes. Ben and Rey embark together on a healing journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance. Maybe, they don’t need to be alone, anymore. Maybe, they were never alone, to begin with.
The Rise of Ren for Merixcil
For the last seat in the Knights of Ren, there are two candidates. The first, a powerful scion of a great Force legacy, formally trained by the last Jedi. The second, a force sensitive urchin with no past, nurtured by the cut-throat criminal underworld. Kylo or Kira. There can only be one.
Legion for midwinterspring
The war was over. Across the galaxy, hundreds called out in one voice: “I need a teacher.” A fic for midwinterspring for the RFFA Valentine’s Day 2020 Exchange Prompt: Rey and Ben train new Force users and fix things
All That Glitters for MintyCel
The Kingdom of Exegol holds the key to Kylo's future. All he needs to do is to get past the omega guarding it.
Thaw My Frozen Heart for Miranda13
“A bounty hunter decides that the former Supreme Leader would make an excellent prize and manages to get the jump on Ben while he is on a mission for the Resistance, encasing him in carbonite. Rey is quick to mount a solo rescue mission and helps Ben recover from the hibernation sickness when she eventually gets him back." - Reylo-Prompts
Good Boy for MissCoppelia
Ben adopts a dog who needs some training. Thankfully, he gets help (and a little bit more) from Rey, a dog trainer.
the world's not perfect but for misszeldasayre
Turns out the galaxy is a lawless place with every sentient for themselves.
like roses and clover for mrstater
It never gets easier, you just get better.  for MyJediLife
Ben is an addict working through his pain. Rey is a counselor assigned to his care. They weren't supposed to fall in love.
Dreamscape  for Nebulous Bounds (RainonyourBack)
Kylo mostly worsens and occasionally betters Rey's visions while she sleeps.
Why we can't be for newseptembers
When old Maz forsaw a dyad, Rey never thought it would be a soulmate bond between her and the First Order coven member Kylo Ren. Desperately trying to undo her connection to the enemy, she seeks out ancient texts and meets Ben, a bookshop owner and crafter, who seems to catch her attention every time they meet.
Beside the Lake for Ngoc12thefangirl
You Need A Teacher for ninecrimes
After the events of TROS, Rey returns to Ahch-To... and a healed Ben Solo. There, she plans to consummate their relationship. Too bad she has no idea what she's doing.... Luckily, Ben is happy to teach her everything he knows. ----- “Okay.” Rey took a deep breath, preparing herself for the strange, mortifying experience to come. “So what do I do?” “Well,” he said, “first you let me kiss you some more. Then, when you’re ready, you take your clothes off. Then you sit on my face.” “Just like that?” “Just like that.”
Grey Skies Ahead for NiriKeehan
She took his hand—not in the name of the Light, or the Dark. They were a dyad, the embodiment of balance—an Alliance of Grey.
Ever as before and ever just as sure as the sun will rise for OccasionallyCreative
The war is over. On a peaceful estate in Naboo's Lake Country, Rey and Ben prepare for their wedding and think of how they got here. Using lyrics of title song of 'Beauty and the Beast'.
swish of the bumblebee for OptimisticBeth
She should get the sand - and gravel, and rocks - and run all the way home and make things right for him. Although, the fish had gotten her into this mess in the first place, however inadvertently, so maybe she should move him to Finn’s room where she wouldn’t have to look at his little fins swishing away ever again, reminding her of- Rey's betta fish needs an upgrade in living conditions. When she posts a question asking for help, she gets a little more than she bargained for.
Dissolver of Sugar for optimus_pam
“Rey...what could anyone do, to make up for what Kylo Ren did?” Or: Redemption isn't supposed to be easy. A TROS fix-it fic, of sorts.
Delirium for PalenDrome (nerdherderette)
Renewed for patig_00
The world between worlds is neither hot nor cold. So when Ben feels his arms break into gooseflesh, when his shoulder aches with not a remembrance but an actual twinge of pain, when he tries to rouse himself from meditation and realizes that he’s fighting the need to fall back asleep, he opens his eyes—in a room on the Millennium Falcon. [[Something in the Force allows Ben Solo to be resurrected on the Millenium Falcon during a little Resistance mission. Expected hilarity ensues. Angst WITH A HAPPY ENDING.]]
a million miles (cross the ocean)  for persimonne
in which the Force tries to pay back some of the debt it owes the Skywalkers.
All that's best of dark and bright for persopilliankore
Rey had big plans for Valentine's Day: laundry, errands, and an evening of fantasizing over her impossibly sexy building manager, Ben Solo. That was before she found an anonymous love poem in her mailbox.
Wherever There is You, I Will be There Too for politicalmamaduck
According to Greek mythology, Tartarus is the deep abyss used as a dungeon of torment and suffering for the wicked. Rey journeys there in search of a lost soul.
Laid To Rest for PoliticalPadmé (magnetgirl)
Ben wants to show Rey the galaxy, to see it with her. First, they have business on Naboo.
What Was Lost Is Now Found for punkeraa
"Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found." The Parable of the Prodigal Son, New International Version
Be With Me for qotsisajakk
TROS Fix-it. When Rey asks the Jedi of the past to be with her, the bond she shares with Kylo Ren also opens. He is forced to come to terms with his growing feelings for her, and together, they take down the greatest evil, those words continue to bring them together.
Always in Motion for QueenOfCarrotFlowers
Dr. Rey Jackson, archaeologist, is mistaken for a celebrity and given an upgrade to Business Class on her incredibly long flight. Unfortunately, she's been seated next to the douchebag who's been pestering her for the last two hours. More unfortunately, she finds a letter in her carry-on bag telling her that their plane is about to go down. The worst part? The letter was written by Luke Skywalker, a man who has been dead for years.
we might be the outsiders for radioactivesaltghoul
As though, in a blink, the cavern becomes light, and he sees the pale cream and gold shimmer of the creature, with a dark brown pattern across the head and hood.
Between the Sun and the Moon for redbelles
The Force demands that Rey and Ben pay a price for the power they gained in their preparation to take down Palpatine, but they don’t learn what they paid until it disturbs the peaceful life they’re trying to build together after the war is over.
Starless Sky, Black for RedPaladin465
“Why did you change your mind?” It takes a long time for her to answer. “I didn’t want to be alone.”
The Girl From The Tower for ReyloBrit
Prompt: "Quiet and obedient Rey lives a godly life with her grandfather, until the family hire a new gardener Ben, a mysterious and deeply attractive man. Sparks fly between the two."
The Falcon and the Wolf for reylotrash711
Is he ready to pay the price of losing his force sensitivity for the women he loves?
and we'll live a long life for ReyloTrashCompactor (NextToSomething)
When Rey heals him on Kef Bir, Ben has a vision. He and Rey must work together to prevent it from coming true.
Found Belonging for rissanox
Rey joins her friends and former comrades in arms on Chandrila for the festivities around the anniversary of the battle of Exegol. To everyone’s surprise she is accompanied by two mysterious Mandalorians.
Loathe Thy Neighbor for SaintHeretical
Rey's neighbor is the worst. He listens to terrible music, he's impolitely large, and he smells incredible. She hates almost everything about him. Especially the smelling good bit.
Can You Feel The Love Tonight? for shiiera
Ben Solo travels to Takodana National Park in South Africa on a research mission where he meets fellow researcher, Rey. While they might get along as well as lions and hyenas at first, perhaps they have more in common with each other than they think.
He's Just Not That Into You(r) Scent for shipperofdarkness
Rey is a young and single Omega who hasn't had a lot of luck so far finding a nice Beta guy who isn't a total flake. They say they've had a great time with her, but seem to have a difficult time with calling her back. Ben is an Alpha bartender who is tired of hearing about her dating difficulties, and is ready to drop some truth bombs. An ABO He's Just Not That Into You AU
The Purest Love for six4au
When a deeply scarred and traumatized Ben Solo is placed in a program to try and pair him with a canine helper, he finds that he gets more than he ever imagined with the therapist assigned to him.
The Monster in Skywalker Manner for solikerez
Rey marches up the walk, takes hold of the door knocker, and bangs it sharply three times. Nothing. She rattles the door handle. Nothing. Absurdly, she checks the address (is this the right creepy-and-probably-abandoned-Skywalker-Manner on Alderaan street?). It is. -Or- Rey takes a shady job to clean the old Skywalker Manner and discovers that there's something much scarier than dust and spiderwebs living there. But maybe that's not the whole story, because what kind of monster loves roses and books?
Stargazing for SpaceWaffleHouseTM
“I wish they would go blind, stop whispering: he’s lying, he’ll leave. I hate that they know what I don’t want to hear. Their poison passes my lips, harmless. Call me Faith, not Medusa, no one need become stone.”
through the darkness to the dawn  for starfleetjedi
She couldn’t breathe. Spots danced in her vision, black as the nothingness yawning behind her breastbone. Ben was gone. No. The plea tore out of her, wild and broken, racing through the vastness of the Force, past stars and planets and distant moons to the far edges of the universe. There was only silence. She tried again. Ben. Ben, please. Answer me. Or: Rey, after.
Tabula Rasa for suchlostcreatures (godfmischief)
Ben survives the battle on Exegol. That was the easy part.
Intro to Love for TheStolenQuill
Rey and Ben are music students, put together to work on a final that, surprise isn't in a music class. They hadn't really known each other much before that but will that change as they keep working together?
I met you once — ( In a dream ) for thewayofthetrashcompactor (BriarLily)
He sucks in a deep breath and exhales, a pout forming on his plump lips and it's so distracting the way they- "Just Ben," He closes his eyes. "see me no more than that, 𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚." Or Where Ben and Rey are soulmates and Ben is more than meets the eye
Supernova for Tiara_of_Sapphires
“She loved him so much she was going to smother him with it until there wasn’t a molecule of doubt left in his heart.” After the war Rey and Ben settle into an uneasy life of peace, followed by judgment and resentment. Ben Solo may have decided to remain behind to atone for his sins, but the people won’t forget Kylo Ren so soon.
Happy Accident for tmf
A baby. Her baby having a baby. She’d given up dreams of grandchildren when Ben was fourteen, and not even his having a steady girlfriend had let her change her mind about it. “So yeah, we need to talk,” Rey mumbles at last. Ben doesn’t say a word, and Leia can imagine him clearly, sitting there, staring off into space, dazed—like when she’d told Han that she was pregnant.  One fun night at the Yub Nub Club and a little bit of carelessness with the condom...
Crafting A Connection for tmwillson3
Rey and Ben have been friends forever, so much so that Ben never dreamed that it something as small as getting that manager's position he'd been gunning for would get in the way of it. Now that it has, Rey's been distant. So... so distant and he has no idea how to get her back. Rey has only been trying to be a good friend and not use him for his status, which means instead of accepting rides from him like she had, she hasn't. She isn't trying to push him away but things are different, and he's difficult now. What on earth can she do about it? Mother nature has something to say about these two, that's for sure. The snow storm of the year is coming, stranding the two together the Friday before Valentine's Day weekend to give them the time to work things out.
this tangled light for TolkienGirl
The war is over, but at what cost?
Welcome to the Fire for trasharama
Rey is competing on the reality television show, First Order Inferno, for a chance to become Head Chef at Benjamin Solo's latest restaurant. What happens when the competition gets a little too hot in the kitchen?
as certain dark things are to be loved for tropixo (ursaminors)
Lady Rey, Master of the Knights of Ren, makes a choice. She chooses Ben Solo.
Bend or Break for tweis24
It's been six months since the Battle of Crait. Both sides of the war have been continuing down their path, both sides struggling with loss. For some, it's just business. But for others, it's personal. For Rey of Jakku and Kylo Ren... it most certainly is personal. Once again, the Supreme Leader of the First Order and the Jedi, Hope of the Resistance confront each other and clash. How will they react and what will transpire when Bonds are blocked and unexpected events are thrown their way? Will either of them bend? Or will they break?
Heaven, let me through for Twisted_Mirror
No matter how hard they try, they can't get each other out of their heads.
Osmosis for viajeramyra

#10, Surah 2
THE QURAN READ-ALONG: DAY 10
Ten sections--ten!--and we are still not done with the second surah. It is just ridiculously long and tedious. But complaints won’t get us any closer to the finish line, thots. We’re starting today at 2:210, and we have less than 90 ayat to go, so probably three or four more sections, including this one, at most. Almost there!
Today we’re going to discuss Mohammed’s cousin murdering someone in broad daylight and Allah sending him a Get Out Of Jail Free Card. Let’s go.
Coming off last section’s last two ayat, in which Allah suggested that those who ignore the “clear proofs” (of Mohammed being a prophet) are going to hell, the whole punishment thought is continued. 2:210 simply reminds people that Allah is their judge, and he will judge the disbelievers by punishing them severely in 2:211. (Kuffar hell counter: 1!)
So a neutral and a bad verse, respectively, to start the day. 2:212 is an interesting one--I’d also classify it as neutral, but take a look:
Beautified is the life of the world for those who disbelieve; they make a jest of the believers. But those who keep their duty to Allah will be above them on the Day of Resurrection.
Islam, like some forms of Christianity, insists that enjoying worldly things is a sign of weakness, and true believers would gladly reject happiness on earth in favor of slavish devotion to Allah and following his commands in order to enter jannah after death. Disbelievers, according to the Quran (when it’s not contracting itself), are quite happy people. But they’re wrong to be happy, because they’re gonna be burned in hell forever, LOL!
We then have a brief Islamic “history” of religion, stating again that all people were originally of one religion (Islam) before going astray. But Allah chose certain people to be led back to “the straight path”--there’s that Calvinism again. Neutral, I suppose. Muslims are the latest such people, and they will not “enter paradise" until they, like Moses and his followers, endure “affliction and adversity” (see 2:49, wherein the Jews are “tested” by Allah having the Egyptians kill their children). Bad both there and here.
And just like last time, we have a juxtaposition of a very nice ayah with a terrible one. Is this Mohammed’s version of letting people down gently? Compare:
They ask thee, (O Muhammad), what they shall spend. Say: that which ye spend for good (must go) to parents and near kindred and orphans and the needy and the wayfarer.
Warfare is ordained for you, though it is hateful unto you; but it may happen that ye hate a thing which is good for you, and it may happen that ye love a thing which is bad for you. Allah knoweth, ye know not.
They question thee (O Muhammad) with regard to warfare in the sacred month. Say: Warfare therein is a great (transgression), but to turn (men) from the way of Allah, and to disbelieve in Him and in the Inviolable Place of Worship, and to expel His people thence, is a greater with Allah; for persecution is worse than killing. And they will not cease from fighting against you till they have made you renegades from your religion, if they can. And whoso becometh a renegade and dieth in his disbelief: such are they whose works have fallen both in the world and the Hereafter. Such are rightful owners of the Fire: they will abide therein.
Whiplash! A lot to unpack here. Let’s start with 2:215, the good one: give alms to the poor and take care of your family. Great! But now we have to deal with the appalling stuff that follows.
Quick summary of where we’re at: Mohammed and most of his early followers were from the Quraysh tribe in the trade city of Mecca. After spending a little over a decade ranting to the polytheists of his hometown, the leaders of Mecca made him leave. The incident that prompted his expulsion involved a bunch of Muslims from outside Mecca--mostly from the agricultural city of Yathrib--swearing an oath of loyalty to him, which included a declaration to stand behind him in battle. After leaving Mecca, Mohammed moved to Yathrib (called Medina), and most of his Meccan followers moved with him. The city became the Muslim base of power. Once he got to Medina, Mohammed began ordering his followers to raid caravans of the Quraysh. This led to some problems.
In 2:216, we’re told that some of Mohammed’s followers don’t really want to fight. But he tells them that they have to anyway; that Allah himself wants them to fight. And if they listen to Allah, they will be rewarded. Tafsir al-Jalalayn elaborates:
obligatory for you is fighting disbelievers though it be hateful to you by nature because of the hardship involved. Yet it may happen that you hate a thing which is good for you; and it may happen that you love a thing which is bad for you ... the soul inclines towards those desires which result in its destruction ... even if you are averse to it you will find much good in fighting as a result of victory, booty, martyrdom or reward; while if you were to reject fighting even if you would like to do so you will find much evil because then you may be subjugated, impoverished, and denied the reward; God knows what is good for you and you know this not so strive in what He commands you.
Remember how, in the last section, there was a command to slaughter disbelievers until “religion is for Allah” if provoked first? We are now told exactly what that means. See, when Mohammed said that his followers shouldn’t attack unless first attacked, he didn’t mean literally physically attacked. Turning people from “the way of Allah” (presumably by telling them that Mohammed is full of shit), kicking a Muslim out of Mecca (note that the Muslims bar Mohammed left Mecca for Medina on their own and were not kicked out), preventing Mohammed’s men from performing the pilgrimage en masse, and simply not believing in Islam are all acts of “fitna” that constitute valid reasons for Muslims to declare war on a group of people and kill them until they’ve accepted Islam. One must respond to this by killing them, since fitna "is worse than killing” in the eyes of Allah.
This is unavoidably bad as it explicitly calls for war against those who do not accept Islam or those perceived to be “persecuting” (fitna again) Muslims. Or those who are just members of a group that does such things.
Now why, exactly, are the Muslims being ordered to fight, even though they don’t want to? Why does Mohammed need to emphasize that this fighting can occur during the sacred months? That, friends, brings us to a rather appalling story.
Let’s look at what was going on at the time that made “Allah” send such a revelation to Mohammed. Al-Wahidi:
the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and give him peace, sent a military expedition and appointed [his cousin] 'Abd Allah ibn Jahsh al-Asdi as its leader. This expedition proceeded until they reached Nakhlah where they found 'Amr ibn al-Hadrami leading a trade caravan for the Quraysh. That day was the last day of the sacred month. The Muslims were divided in their opinion. Some of them said: 'We know for certain that today belongs to the sacred month, we are of the view that you should not violate it because of greed'. The opinion of those who desired the stuff of this world gained the upper hand; they attacked Ibn al-Hadrami, killed him and seized his camels. Ibn al-Hadrami was the first person to be killed in a fight between the Muslims and the disbelievers. The disbelievers of the Quraysh heard about the incident and sent a delegation to the Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace. They said to him: 'Do you allow fighting in the sacred month?' As a response, Allah, exalted is He, revealed this verse (They question thee (O Muhammad) with regard to warfare in the sacred month…)
Let’s break it down. Mohammed sends a band of his goons out into the desert. (The early Muslim community engaged in lots of caravan raiding, which we will get to later on. When you’re a kid being brainwashed, you’re sometimes told that they were “recovering stolen merchandise”. Absolutely zero early histories or ahadith say this. They were just stealing shit. Other times you’re told that the Meccans were going to use the profits from their trade in war against the Muslims. Again, this is not true. The traders of Mecca were just doing what they always did and minding their business, and they didn’t attack the Muslims in Medina until the latter attacked them first.)
They come across some traders belonging to The Disbelievers. It’s during a peace month called Rajab. The guy leading the Muslims, Abdallah--Mo’s future brother-in-law--wants to kill the traders and take all their shit. Some of the Muslims explicitly don’t want to do this, not simply because it’s bad to kill people in order to take their shit, but because it’s the month of Rajab and “Allah” had specifically prohibited them from fighting during that period. But Abdallah says “nah fam I think I see a PS4 in there, I’m going in” and attacks anyway and kills the unfortunate Mr. ibn al-Hadrami. The Disbelievers, understandably upset at this blatant criminal action and violation of “Allah’s” own rules, go to Mohammed and demand answers. At which time “Allah” tells Mohammed that, actually, being a disbeliever is way worse than killing people during a truce month.
Now you know the “context” whenever people try to tell you that the Quran’s terrible verses require “context”.
Also: kuffar hell counter: 2!
Ugly stuff. Let’s go to more neutral territory. 2:218 says that Muslims who “strive in the way of Allah” in the form of fighting, emigrating from Mecca to Medina, or by simply being faithful believers will go jannah. 2:219 is the first of several Quranic prohibitions against gambling and drinking alcohol.
2:220 is a random good verse about treating orphans kindly. I picked that place to stop because all the jihad ayat made me depressed and I wanted a happy ending. Unfortunately...
NEXT TIME: Let’s talk about sex (and also restrictions for women’s behavior)
The Quran Read-Along: Day 10

Good: 2 (2:215, 2:220)
Neutral: 5 (2:209, 2:212-13, 2:218-19)

► Jason Todd
Jason Todd is a vigilante anti-hero who has been a member of and antagonist to the Batman Family. Batman originally trained him to be the second Robin, his new side-kick after Dick Grayson became Nightwing. Jason was murdered by the Joker, although he was later resurrected and returned as the second Red Hood.
Jason Todd was the son of Willis Todd and Sheila Haywood, although his mother was forced to relinquish his custody when Willis married Catherine Todd. Catherine was a drug addict and died from an overdose, while his father had once worked for Two-Face and was murdered by the criminal. Legally an orphan, Jason lived in his father's apartment in a derelict building in Crime Alley, where he turned to crime out of necessity. Jason became highly skilled in stealing tires from vehicles and during one of his usual thefts, he met Batman as he stole the Batmobile's wheels.
Jason was taken by Batman to a school run by Ma Gunn, hoping to reform the young man. However, Jason soon realized Gunn conducted illegal activities with the youngsters at her “school” and he escaped. When Batman located him, Jason informed him about Gunn's crimes and even assisted Batman in capturing her gang, after which Jason was taken in by Batman as the new Robin at the age of 12.
After six months of training, Jason was ready to go into action as the new Boy Wonder. In his early adventures, Robin assisted Batman against notable criminals like Two-Face, Magpie, Mime,[8] the Crime Doctor, The KGBeast, Deacon Blackfire and the Dumpster Slasher. While working on this last case, Jason became more aggressive and driven against criminals.
Unlike Batman's first protegee Dick Grayson, Jason was impulsive, reckless, and full of rage. After a first meeting with his predecesor, Jason struck a good enough friendship with Nightwing and during a troubled time for the Titans, Jason is recruited by Donna Troy to help on a mission. Jason becomes frustrated by the situation when Donna expects him to figure out plans and save everyone, like Dick would.
Jason's violent methods against crooks eventually caused the death of a criminal. Jason's attitude got him and Batman in troubles, but he showed no sign of slowing down. Instead, Jason became more reckless until he was forbidden from going out as Robin. During those moments, Jason learned the truth about his real mother and doing more investigation, he tracked down the possible persons to the Middle East. Going alone at first, Jason was soon joined by Batman, who was following the trail of the Joker, who had recently escaped from Arkham.
Jason and Bruce managed to foil Joker's plans to deal with terrorists, but they failed to capture the madman. With the crisis averted, Jason and Bruce resumed their quest to find Jason's real mother and eventually, they located her in Ethiopia. Shelia Haywood was working as part of the relief efforts for the refugees and once she was reunited with Jason, she told him the truth about their past. Unfortunately, Sheila had a criminal record which Joker used to blackmail her and use her for his own profits. Shelia tried to keep this from Jason, but he soon spotted Joker in the place and he followed the madman and his mother to a warehouse. After learning Joker's plan, Jason alerted Batman, who set out to stop a truck filled with Joker Venom. Meanwhile, Robin went to save his mother from Joker, but he was lured into a trap by her, who was also crooked and couldn't risk being exposed. In the warehouse, Robin was beaten to a bloody pulp by the Joker, using a crowbar. Joker then tied Sheila to a post and planted a bomb in the warehouse, leaving mother and son to die. Jason recovered and untied his mother, but they were unable to escape and the bomb exploded, killing them both.
Batman arrived too late to save them and all he could do was fix the crime scene to protect Jason's identity and later, he made the arrangements to have their bodies returned to Gotham and properly buried. For years, Jason's death haunted Batman, as he considered this his greatest failure: not properly training Jason in his role as Robin and failing to protect him from the Joker. Nonetheless, he used this experience to not make the same mistakes with the third Robin, Tim Drake.
It is later revealed that Jason indeed had died at the hands of the Joker, but when Superboy-Prime alters reality from the paradise dimension in which he is trapped (six months after his death), Jason is restored to life and breaks out of his coffin, but collapses thereafter and is hospitalized. After spending a year in a coma and subsequently as an amnesiac vagrant, he is recognized by Talia al Ghul. She spends several years trying to help restore Jason to full health, but the mental damage appears too extensive. Jason's is still able to fight, due to muscle reflex, but he appears to have no awareness of the situation. Talia's father, Ra's al Ghul sees Jason as a lost cause and orders him to be eliminated. In a last ditch effort to save him, Talia restores Jason's health and memory by immersing him in a Lazarus Pit in which her father is also bathing. It is suggested at that exposure to the Pit's energies together with Ra's might have affected Jason's personality. On Talia's advice, Jason determines his death was never avenged, and prepares to confront Batman by traveling across the globe in the same path of training as his mentor.
Using the money from Talia and infuriated by her statement that he "remains un-avenged," Jason paid a group of mercenaries to help him return to Gotham. Once Jason arrives (during the aftermath of the event of No Man's Land), he enacts a plan to get revenge on Batman. He created a false arms trafficking of advance military arsenal, knowing that Batman would respond. This provided Jason an opportunity to plant a bomb beneath the Batmobile while Batman is on a stakeout for the arms deal. Batman enters the car and is at the boy's mercy, detonator in hand. However, Todd realizes that his former mentor would never know about his return nor that he would be Bruce's killer. Jason then decides to confront and kill Batman directly by traveling across the globe in search of a similar, yet more deadly type of training as Bruce received to prepare for that day. Todd learned the murderous arts from various masters around the globe. Such training includes firearms, poisons and anti-toxins, martial arts, and bomb-making.
Jason was pitted against the man teaching him assassination, a German named Egon, who is also engaged in a child sex slave ring. Jason, upon learning of this, frees a shipment of children and battles his new mentor. Though he is not able to physically best Egon, he does defeat him by poisoning an energy drink Egon was consuming before the fight ever started. Jason then burns Egon's compound to the ground. He later remarks to Talia that he did not see this as murder, but rather putting "...down a reptile."
After a period of time, Jason is discovered and approached by Hush to participate in a game against Batman. While Batman attempts to uncover the mystery of Hush, Robin (Tim Drake) is kidnapped and taken to the cemetery where Jason was buried. When he confronts the kidnapper he discovers, much to his surprise, that the kidnapper is apparently Jason Todd. During the fight, Jason trades places with Clayface, who impersonates Jason for the end of the fight. Following the battle with Hush, Batman begins seeing visions of Jason. They appear to be the result of Scarecrow's fear gas, but Alfred finds Jason's mask in the batmobile, following one of the visions.
Shortly after Black Mask became the undisputed crime lord of Gotham, Jason Todd reappeared in Gotham City as the Red Hood, taking control of the drug dealing racket. A few days later, Red Hood led Batman and Nightwing to a warehouse where they had to fight Amazo. After this, Red Hood called Black Mask and informed him that he stole the Kryptonite shipment form him. Black Mask sent Mr. Freeze to eliminate Red Hood and during the battle, Batman and Nightwing arrived and all of them started fighting. In the midst of the battle, Red Hood escaped leaving the Kryptonite behind and told them he has gotten what he truly wanted: a "lay of the land." Shortly afterward, the Red Hood found the Joker and beat him with a crowbar just as the Joker had beaten Jason.
The Red Hood assumed control over several gangs in Gotham City and started a one-man-war against Black Mask's criminal empire. Red Hood met Onyx and after teaming up with her and crashing a drug dealer meeting, he stabbed her when she turned against him. Batman arrived in time to stop Red Hood from hurting her more and they fought each other. By the end of the fight, Red Hood unmasked Bruce and he revealed his identity to Bruce, who was utterly in shock to learn that Jason was alive.
Later, Jason broke into Titans Tower to confront Tim Drake, the new Robin. Wearing an altered version of his own Robin costume, Jason immobilized the other Titans and struck Tim down in the Tower's Hall of Fallen Titans and after a furious battle, Jason finally defeated Tim. Jason left the place and tore the 'R' emblem from Tim's chest.
Some time later, Jason used a decoy to trick Black Mask and Batman. Meanwhile, he held the Joker hostage and lured Batman to Crime Alley, the site of their first meeting. Jason and Batman fought for a while until Jason led Batman to the place where he was holding Joker. Jason asked Batman why he has not avenged his death by killing Joker, and Batman told Jason that he will never cross that line. Jason tried to force Batman to kill Joker or Jason, but at the last moment, Batman threw a batarang that ricocheted back to Jason's shoulder. The Joker took advantage of the situation and detonated some explosives that destroyed the entire building.
Jason resurfaces one year after the Infinite Crisis patrolling the streets of New York City as a murderous version of Nightwing. Jason shows no intention of giving up the Nightwing persona, and continues to taunt Dick Grayson by wearing the costume and suggesting that the two become a crime-fighting team. Grayson refuses to join his side and methods of crime-fighting. Not long after the two Nightwings meet up, Jason is captured and imprisoned by unknown mobsters. Rescued by a reluctant Grayson, the two join forces to defeat the Pierce brothers. Jason leaves New York City and the Nightwing mantle to Grayson, along with a telegram telling Grayson he has returned to normal and still considers them family.
Jason resumed his Red Hood persona and worked alongside Brick as part of a gun-running organization in Star City, which brought the attention of Batman. Jason's true motives are shown as he kidnaps Mia Dearden (Speedy) in an effort to convert her to his side, feeling that they are kindred spirits, cast down by society and at odds with their mentors. The two fight while conversing but when Jason is unsuccessful in his bid to turn Mia, he settles for blowing up her High School. Mia is deeply troubled by what transpired between her and Jason, but ultimately decides to stick with Green Arrow.
After the apparent death of Batman, Gotham fell into turmoil without its champion. Jason was summoned to the Batcave by Tim Drake, who told him that Bruce had left something similar to a last will for all of them, including Jason. After listening to Bruce's last message for him, Jason left the cave telling Drake that they will see each other soon.
Later, Jason donned his own version of the Batsuit, heavily armed and using the cowl previously owned by Bat-Devil. He fought the expanding crime wave but with extreme brutality and he pinned a note to his victims with the words "I Am Batman". Jason's exploits started to be noticed by the Batman Family and he revealed himself for the first time to Nightwing and Damian, saving them from several Black Mask enforcers. Nightwing tried to bring Jason down, but the fight stopped when Jason shot Damian and he managed to escape. Jason kept killing and torturing Black Mask enforcers until his secret base was discovered by Tim Drake and Catwoman. Jason knocked Catwoman unconscious and after a long fight with Tim, he finally stabbed him in the chest and left him to die. Jason went out on a killing spree until Catwoman found him and they fought for a short time. Jason won the fight by kicking Catwoman off an overpass, causing her to lose consciousness.
Following his battle with Dick, Jason gave up his claim to Batman's mantle, which has befallen to Dick. As a result, Jason set out to become Dick's direct competition. He reworked his Red Hood identity to be more dramatic and attention-grabbing by creating a costume for it, being very similar to the original Red Hood outfit the Joker had used. Also, he stopped dying his hair black and allowed it to grow red again with a small gray streak left by his previous exposure to a Lazarus Pit. To complete his transformation, he even found himself a sidekick, Scarlet, the daughter of a criminal and the victim of Professor Pyg's practice of mutilation. His intent was for them to become Gotham City's new dynamic duo, supplanting the old one.
Powers
Acrobatics: In his training as Robin he has been taught acrobatics. He further practices his abilities as the Red Hood even going so far as to chase the Batman Family around just to test his speed.
Driving: Jason has driven a variety of vehicles from cars and boats, to being trained in the Middle East by an ace pilot to fly helicopters.
Firearms: Having been trained by Batman, Jason has perfect aim when using batarangs and later, firearms. To increase his skill with firearms he went a step further than Batman on his journey around the world to learn from the masters how to kill a target with different types of guns.
Genius Level Intellect: Jason has received excellent education and tutoring from Batman, and thus has extensive knowledge of various subjects, which include Science, Mathematics, Forensic Medicine, Geography, History, and Leadership. He has also proven to be a highly efficient criminal strategist and organise as the Red Hood.
Criminology
Demolitions: Taught by a world renowned bomb expert in Russia, Jason is able to assemble and defuse a wide variety of conventional explosive devices, from improvised to military grade designs.
Multilingualism: Taught by Batman, Jason is fluent in several languages having spoken English, French, German, Italian and various others with Russian being his weakest.
Investigation: Jason has shown some skill as a detective.
Martial Arts: Jason Todd is a highly skilled combatant, showing his skill in fighting Nightwing and even Batman. He has overpowered Tim Drake at Titans Tower. Jason's fighting style focuses on brutality, strength, and speed; he is shown to have studied over half-a dozen fighting styles and has proven to be a master of Aikido, Capoeira, Karate, Ninjutsu, Savate, Krav Maga, Kickboxing, and Tae Kwon Do. He has received extensive training from Batman, and after his resurrection, had traveled the world, learning every form of martial arts he could, just as Batman did.
Surveillance: Although contradictory to his once childish nature, Jason's learned to survey his targets before attacking and killing them. He spends long hours scouting targets and assuring that they deserve his brand of justice.
Swordsmanship: Jason has shown to be skilled enough to hold his own against the Green Arrow in a sword fight until he ultimately lost.
Throwing: Jason is an expert marksman and highly skilled with throwing weapons, such as batarangs and knives.
Weaponry: Jason is highly skilled in the use of many weapons, including firearms and knives.
Rage: Jason's most notable weakness is his rage. Batman and numerous others have told him that his rage blinds him in battle to the point of leaving physical and mental weak points open for attacks. Recently, Jason has made steps to putting the past behind him and has become a more disciplined and controlled fighter as a result of recalling his time with the All-Caste.

Duo and Heero have to go undercover at a private high school to get close to the son of Archie Bravewater, a man who might have major ties to an underground slave-ring the Preventors have been trying to destroy for months.

http://archiveofourown.org/works/10938852/chapters/24338433
Following a routine visit to Vingolf, Orga, Mikazuki and Merribit are surprised by the sudden appearance of a practically naked, injured woman. Although Artima seems to have full recollection of who she is, she does not seem to understand the outside world. Against Orga's better judgment, the Isaribi is soon entangled in Artima's quest to find and destroy her old mobile suit - and discover both she and it are relics from over three hundred years ago that could hold the key to Tekkadan's future.

In the year AC 205 the status of the Earth-Sphere remains relatively peaceful thanks to the efforts of the ESUN and it’s peacekeeping organization Preventer. The five young men who had once fought together for this peace now work quietly behind the scenes to maintain it. Despite their new roles in this world, Heero and Trowa struggle to establish a comfortable place in it. In the process of finding themselves they eventually realize that their place is with each other.

TheManwell May Demons Rest: Shinigami Sleeps (2017) (Ch. 12 &13) http://archiveofourown.org/works/10944786/chapters/25850889 2X3 WARNINGS: language (why am I even writing this down?), reference to the unpleasantness of L2 gang life (e.g. human trafficking, maiming, assorted violence), further expectations of suicide happening (because Duo is a stubborn butt), bodily functions (throwing that in here just to be safe), suicidal thoughts (yup, Duo could win the Olympic gold in Stubborn), drug detox (and, therefore, implied drug use).
@weiclown - Watermelon Pink http://archiveofourown.org/works/11533665 Quatre has a long weekend off, and Trowa drew the short straw for working night shift with Une. Since he’s alone, Quatre decides a little pampering is required, and Trowa only eggs him on through text. Quatre ups the game by the nth level. Trowa x Quatre.  Shameless smut, PWP, No plot

A deeper explore into these notions; a struggle to a mutual peace. In the short time they were given, Relena and Heero found their love overcame the hardships they went through together; being each other pillars. But in the end, people die, and when the time comes, they both will embrace the death with dignity - because their love was beyond death to be cheated, and it would last forever.
