the tragedy of shauna and melissa is that in any other circumstance it could've been a loving and healthy and healing relationship (finding love after loss and it healing a part of you)
but it happened in the exact circumstance that twisted it into this toxic thing that is more possession than love.
#yellowjackets#i am so interested to see how they break up#my two running theories are;#1. melissa doesn't want to kill the researchers while shauna does and they end up in opposite factions#or the one i'm leaning towards#2. shauna makes melissa into the butcher to her antler queen and turns melissa into a monster that can't survive the real world#and shauna abandons her when they get back to live out her self-punishment of marrying jeff#shaunahat#it is kinda funny doing serious analysis of this ship and then tagging it shaunahat#shauna x melissa#oh yeah almost forgot#yellowjackets spoilers

Puzzlematsu Another One Overanalysis (Pt.2)
Im back with the rest of the brothers! If you want the breakdown of the three eldest you can read that here.

ESP Kitty is always with Ichimatsu and I love him for that. I also love how ESP Kitty just hangs there like a sock full of peanut butter, look at him.
As for the location, I’m not sure why Ichimatsu is on the balcony. I can’t think of any distinct call backs that have Ichimatsu on the balcony- except maybe Campaign, but Ichimatsu slept on the roof, not the balcony.
My educated guess is that Ichimatsu can people watch and be invested in other people while comfortably staying in his home.
We see Ichimatsu watch people from afar and wait around like he’s waiting to be invited, but will jump away like an alley cat the minute they get close to him
We also see this in the Angel & Devil set, where Ichimatsu watches from a distance while other people have fun. So it makes sense that a time of self reflection would pop up when he’s just people watching.

Off rip, I love how the cracks in the shadow’s mask look like cat whiskers. They stay giving Ichimatsu every cat theme ever and I think its adorable. Everything in this final image is cat related and it just proves that Ichimatsu really is just a simple creature.
On a real, I love how ESP Kitty was ready to throw hands with the shadow self until he realized they were cool. The inner self is actively happier and has the most in tact mask.
I think his inner self is someone Ichimatsu is aware of and has accepted, but often refuses to show. Ichimatsu has admitted before that he wants a ton of friends, and to lie about doing fun and adventurous stuff for the attention- and he didn't sound so ashamed of it from season 2 onwards.
I like how the background is split in terms of color. The Inner self has more warm tones and an open field, where as the Ichimatsu we know has cooler tones with the background bending around him like its trying to protect him- which is very Ichimatsu.
(and maybe I’m rustling my straight jacket with this one, but the upper right corner suspiciously looks like Karamatsu’s shattered glasses. Which could mean any number of things, but I think it’s just suspiciously shaped crystal breaks-What would I know)

They keep referencing Homra but they wont give her back to us.
Jyushimatsu being by the same beach he met Homura in would be prime for some self reflection. It also hints that he thinks about her more often than not. So she was definitely more than just another person to him. Not much I can say about the first two panels.
It’s pretty self explanatory, and I think Jyushimatsu’s inner self just walking next to him is such a Jyushimatsu thing to do.

This final image is full of so much playful and weird imagery and it is so very in character. Its basically a collage of references, so speed round!
It has his favorite sport, baseball. Which of course his inner self would like.
Jyushimatsu’s is also the only set that has his ego inside of it. The bubble he sits in that is so far away from earth- which is also why I think the earth is in there at all. It’s related to his weirdness and his out of this world energy, which I feel is an important part of his character.
As for why Saturn is also there, Saturn as a planet represents responsibility, structure, the passage of time, limitations, etc. So the reason as to why its the only broken planet by something Jyushimatsu loves, is probably because he wants to destroy those expectations.
There is also the daisies. Representing innocence, freedom, youth, cheerfulness, and happiness. All of which feel like they would belong to someone like Jyushimatsu.
The crescent moon to me just feels like a nice aesthetic choice, a nod to the sleeping moon in children’s books. While crescent moons are representative of new beginnings and change, there’s nothing else inside the image that I feel would really tie into that meaning.
His background is also the most warped one. While it still has the rough edges, its smooth and wavy on its sides. Which remind me a lot of Jyushimatsu’s tentacle arms.
Jyushimatsu and his inner self sitting back to back feels like a vocaloid cover, but I feel it also shows that they do live in co existence. Jyshimatsu doesn’t fully understand his inner self judging by the expression on his face- but he lives with it. Probably even indulges in it the most.

Todomatsu is very about the times…kind of. I feel like a lot of Todomatsu’s wants come in the form of what will elevate him in social standing. It affects a lot of aspects of his character. Him getting a part time job was to be close to women and posting on social media to gain attention, are a few examples- but the biggest one comes in the form of how he dresses.
I bet your ass he’s never even been to New York, he just struts the tote around because its trendy. He drinks a white girl Starbucks, and shops at the most trendy stores.
Much like Karamatsu, Todomatsu’s shadow comes at a time of literal reflection. The shadow self reaches through the glass like a horror movie. One that reached directly for Todomatsu, instead of offering a hand or even just not touching him at all.

All the inner selves have some sort of contact, but Todomatsu’s just looks like pure curiosity. The kind you see in paintings when two other worldly concepts come together to understand one another. Todomatsu actively listens to his inner self, and doesn’t try doesn’t try to force it away.
There’s not a lot I can pick apart from the mask, just that it could be the way his inner self is. Happy despite all the social pressure he puts on himself.
The background is interesting to me, mostly because I cant really figure out what it means or what it’s referring to.
I think the phone being shattered definitely means something. It is most likely where Todomatsu gets most of his attention and validation from, as well as how he connects with most people. It being shattered means he only has himself to look to, and look for that validation.
Everything else? It feels like an inner fun land. Like a party or a street parade. It could be a celebration of the self, or the want to have fun in a more innocent time. There is also a lot of pink and more of a feminine lean with the pink bows, but that’s more standard with Todomatsu since he is the Matsu most featured in a feminine lens.
This has been super fun for me, and maybe if I missed something or someone has a different interpretation of the set I’d love to hear it.
#osomatsu san#ososan#osomatsu san analysis#fandom#ososan season 4#they’re so silly#I wish I had more of a concrete idea for Todomatsu’s final set image but I’m still kind of lost#I don’t think it’s a reference? and any like deeper meaning is kind of lost on me besides childhood#or fun or a celebration. Todomatsu celebrates himself a lot so it could be that too#Jyushimatsu had a lot to chew on and researching the meanings behind his was really fun#it’s also the set with the most going on and I love that#homura mentioned#They kind of tease her when it comes to Jyushimatsu and I get it#it was a super emotion driven episode for him and it left a lot of impact on people so I totally get it#but like just keep that energy when making the show and not just have her show up to funerals bc you need more characters PLEASE I BEG#this set is around season two ish before the movie I think so honestly ichimatsu#kind of surprised me with his interpretation but after some. thought I understood it#I also just love his his inner self is truely cat themed he’s so right#anyway i’m normal#promise#if anyone has any other ideas or interpretations I’d be so down to hear it okay kiss kiss byyyye

Magical girl and Superhero tend to have a lot in common (both are pretty broad descriptors though) but one thing I’ve noticed is that there can be a subtle difference in how the “self” is viewed.
Both magical girl and superhero have the civilian and superhero self come into conflict with each other, but in my experience, magical girl views both identities as the true version while superhero tends to pick one.
For example, Superman is Kal-El, the last Kryptonian. He’s a strong alien and Clark Kent is his secret identity. Bruce Wayne is Batman and Bruce Wayne is the thing he does when he isn’t Batman. There’s usually a hierarchy.
Meanwhile, magical girl doesn’t tend to pick one. Sakura is the card captor and the normal girl as a singular identity. For Sailor Moon, Usagi has an arc in both the 90s anime and the manga where she feels conflicted between if she’s Princess Serenity of the Silver Millennium, Sailor Moon the guardian of justice, or Usagi Tsukino the normal girl. And the conclusion of this arc is that she’s all of these at once, not just a singular one.
I think this comes down to how the self is historically viewed across cultures. In the west we tend to consider a “true” unchanging self, while most eastern philosophy doesn’t consider a singular true self. I wouldn’t say this is a conscious bias in either case, but a lot of cultural concepts can still be traced back to historical philosophy. Superhero comics originate in the west and magical girl comics originate in the east, so both genres generally reflect their respective historical philosophies.
#Petar Radoev Dimkov published an article in Center for Open Access in Science on the self in east vs west. interesting stuff#these are more general observations and not hard and fast rules but you know#I only mentioned DC here so I’m not talking for 10 minutes but for marvel:#Thor and the mutants literally ARE those things even more so than Superman is. Tony Starks fucking catchphrase is ‘I’m iron man’#Now this research is more about Confusism and Buddism than specifically Japan but#given that Japanese culture does take influence from ancient china im still counting it#for what it’s worth I don’t think either one of these is worse than the other#magical girl#superhero#analysis#sailor moon#Superman#batman

Differences Between the Southern and Northern Renaissance: A Study Through Jan van Eyck's "Portrait of a Man" (self portrait?)"
Written by ArtZoneStuff, 2024
The Renaissance, a period of cultural rebirth and revival of classical learning, manifested differently in the southern and northern regions of Europe. While both regions shared a common interest in humanism, art, and science, the way these ideas were expressed varied significantly due to differing cultural, social, and economic contexts.
The Southern Renaissance, centered in Italy, emphasized classical antiquity, proportion, perspective, and human anatomy. Artists like Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519), Michelangelo (1475-1564), and Raphael (1483-1520) focused on idealized beauty, harmony, and balanced compositions.
In contrast, the Northern Renaissance, which flourished in regions such as the Netherlands, Germany, and Flanders, focused more on meticulous detail, naturalism, and domestic interiors. Northern artists like Jan van Eyck (1390-1441), Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528), and Hieronymus Bosch (?-1516) were known for their detailed and realistic depictions of nature, landscapes, and everyday life. Their work often contained rich symbolism and a focus on surface textures and fine details.
Jan Van Eyck's self portrait
Jan van Eyck's "Portrait of a Man" (Appendix 1), also known as his Self-Portrait from 1433, is a small-scale Dutch portrait measuring 25.9 x 33.1 cm (Google Arts and Culture, n.d.). The man in the painting emerges from a dark background, with his body depicted in three-quarter view. On his head, he wears a red chaperon, often mistaken for a turban, styled upward rather than hanging down (Nash, 2008, p.154). His dark fur-lined garment resembles the attire in "The Arnolfini Portrait" (Appendix 2), indicative of wealth during an era when textiles were extremely costly (ArtUK, 2019). His detailed face features a faint stubble, white highlights in his eyes and on his cheekbones, non-idealized features such as wrinkles and veins on his forehead, showcasing the Northern realism (Hall, 2014, p.44).
As described by the English art historian James Hall, the painting appears almost fleeting and alive - with the gaze seeming to capture the viewer before the face, and just like that, the penetrating stare turns away, perhaps followed by the light streaming from the right (Hall, 2014, p.43). The portrait conveys that the artist scrutinizes everything closely, including himself, without losing sight of the bigger picture (Hall, 2014, p.43). All these naturalistic details clearly indicate a Flemish painting.
The work is considered a self-portrait due to the frame. Jan van Eyck often used frames he designed and painted to enhance understanding and add meaning to his works (Hall, 2014, p.43; The National Gallery, 2021, 4:45-5.15). The gilded original frame of "Portrait of a Man" is crucial for interpreting the piece. Inscribed at the top of the frame is Jan van Eyck’s motto: "Als Ich can," translated to English: "As I can." At the bottom is his signature, and the date in Roman numerals: October 21, and in Arabic numerals, the year 1433. This results in the inscription: "Jan van Eyck made me on October 21, 1433" (Hall, 2014, p.43). He capitalizes the "I" in "Ich," playing on the pun Ich/Eyck. The motto can be interpreted as either boastful, "As I can," or modest, "As best as I can" (Hall, 2014, p.43).
The inscription highlights the relationship between words and image, indicating his awareness of his talent. His skill in painting surpasses that of a craftsman, which painters in this period was considered as. "As I can" suggests he is the only one capable of achieving such stylistic naturalism which cannot be imitated (The National Gallery, 2021, 5:10-5:58). "Jan van Eyck made me" also reflects a high degree of self-awareness, as he claims a painting of this quality, emphasizing that he created it and is conscious of his own abilities (The National Gallery, 2021, 5:10-5:58). All of this, along with his signing of his works as one of the first artists to do so, demonstrates a desire not to remain an anonymous craftsman (Hall, 2014, p.43; Farmer, 1968, p.159; Blunt, 1962).
The motto "Als Ich can" appears on several of his works, but the self-portrait is the only one where it is so prominent and clear. Additionally, the motto is placed at the top of the frame, where he would usually write the model’s name, thus, the motto can be seen as the model's identity (The National Gallery, 2021, 5:15-6:25). This, along with his direct gaze at the viewer, suggesting it was painted from a mirror, are the strongest indicators that the portrait is a self-portrait (Hall, 2014, p.43).
However, this can be taken with some skepticism, as other portraits by him, such as "Portrait of Margaret van Eyck" (Appendix 3) and "Portrait of Jan De Leeuw" (Appendix 4), share the same penetrating gaze (Pächt, 1994, p.107). This might instead indicate his realism, where the painter’s position does not function as an observer but rather takes an active role. The model’s direct gaze towards the viewer shows that the model has looked at Jan Van Eyck. This shows Jan Van Eyck possessing an active role, which was very different from painters in this period, and by doing so, creating a new respect for the painter as an artist, again showcasing his self-awareness of his position and talent (Pächt, 1994, pp.106-108).

Okay this is a shot in the dark but, how does one self teach academic analysis + processing of material.
Like, I want to participate in philosophical discussions, I want to do the personal private equivalent of writing a thesis on a subject.
I have tons of thoughts and ideas and subjects I'd like to develop (see: fish philosophy) but I don't have the skills needed to even begin doing that, nor do I know what beginning to do that would look like
I graduated from high school late by the skin of my teeth and didn't actually get to learn anything, and I cannot afford a college education in any capacity.
For bonus difficulty, I'm AuDHD
So. Where do I start? (And I welcome both personal thoughts as well as links to stuff)
#academic research#thesis#studyblr#self education#analysis#education#college#(hoping someone will find this via tags)#ink yaps#will be posting this question elsewhere as well

been a minute since I was kept awake by a deep need to answer an academic question and got up out of bed to look up clinical research publications
#i think i've got what i need for the night#it may go outside the bounds of the discussion topic for the week#but i think it could also be good for my self-guided research paper#i just have a lot of opinions about discrepancies in clinical analysis and neurodivergence okay#yes i know we can't account for the lack of testing in certain populations#BUT IF IT DOESN'T REPRESENT THE POPULATION IN QUESTION OR EVEN A REPRESENTATIVE SUBSET OF SAID POPULATION#IT DOES CANNOT BE USED TO GENERALIZE#AND SHOULD NOT#and honestly some things shouldn't be generalized anyway#but yeah I'm awake because I'm going to be a thorn in psychology's side in about 5 years

What if we could predict when someone is about to mentally Collapse or be Successful ? (Read More and Participate in the Validation of a Psychological Model !!!!)

Not just guess. Actually model it — like gravity or electricity.
I’m conducting a study on two psychological models that do just that:
The Equation of Enough — how effort, success, time, and context affect your internal balance
The Actualization Death Threshold — when burnout becomes existential collapse
These models already predict collapse and resilience with up to 78% accuracy, and the final step before publication is validating them with people from different backgrounds — especially thoughtful, introspective voices like yours.
If you’ve ever felt stretched thin, stuck in time, or somehow stronger than you expected — this study is for you.

I think precisely Why tumblr is so bad for many ocd havers is that many posts, even well written good faith posts, are written with a Defensive Style. Like, posts that are written as if they're responding to a widely believed argument that YOU could be participating in. Posts that are like seeing the tip of an iceberg float past. For many people it's funny and it can be brushed off as a chronically online argument, but for the ocd having chronically online teenager, they suddenly Have to Check to make sure they aren't a part of the generalized trend or group or take that the post is ripping on
So basically, if you're a chronically online teen/young adult, your response to Defensive Posting is to always try to be ahead of the game on what's the correct topic or take to post about, so that You can either escape from harassment, or make the Most Defensive posts. I saw this a lot with teens on Twitter as well.
#A lot of people critique the body image and self esteem issues that come from Instagram-like social sites#But I haven't seen as much analysis about blog/tweet thread style social media and its effect on like. Us vs them and mob mentality#But I could probably write a paper about the subject#I mean. I already did. I took a research class and wrote a paper on moral scrupulosity ocd and social media#But I mean I could probably turn that paper into a book. And frankly I might!#amygdalae

Bonus!
I finally bit the bullet and did an updated group photo for gen 3 because I wanted to replace the header I have for this account right now. I'm still stuck on what to do for a profile picture, but I'll figure it out eventually I guess. When planning out the posing for this, I was inspired by @duggardata to do some info points for my sims, so I'm going to be doing some basic and random facts about these little bunches of pixels to end the year. This ended up being a mini thesis, so grab a snack if you plan on scrolling down, and I'll put the post under the cut to save your scrolling the TL. When I started this it was meant to be a small cute post with random information, and has now become an actual analysis. If I've missed anything or if i find more that I can talk about, there definitely can be more of these later down the line.
I'm going to queue this for 11:30pm my timezone, so I wish you all a very happy new year, may you get everything you desire and more!
This is all 36 people that make up the 3rd generation. I've arranged them in birth order, so this is technically chronological I guess. I did mess up when I got to the end because I forgot about Ashton (Allan & Casandra's 13th - the irony 😂) and plopped her further down than she should be.
Names L-R:
Back: Adalynn Leonard, Barrett Collins, Macie Collins, Carter Paulson, Abbey Hill, Brittany Dahlmann, Zoe Moreno, Valentina Townsend, Alan Paulson, Tanner Collins, Maggie Wright, Celeste Paulson.
Middle: Kyra Shearer, Reece Collins, Kristyn Crocker, Sabrina Crawford, Beckett Collins, Amira Eichelburg, Priscilla Roberts, Annette Collins, Jarrod Paulson, James Hunt, Charles Collins, Zachary Paulson.
Front: Rory Godwin, Ruby Rae Godwin, Parker Collins, Ava Grace Godwin, Conner Paulson, Jarrett Paulson, Gabriela Hunt, James Lee Collins, Matthew Collins, Ashton Collins, Amelia Godwin, Archie Collins.
Now onto the stats!
Basics
Out of the 36 :-
Men: 17
Women: 19
The split between men and women is 49/51 (don't quote me on my maths, I dropped maths classes as soon as I was able to 😂) Within the siblings groups it's definitely not as even, though the final results even themselves out. Gender roles are heavily enforced in these households, so ones that are female heavy (Allan and Casandra's 8 girls to 5 boys) compared to those that are male heavy (Claire and Ryan's 6 boys to 4 girls) will have different experiences. Having girls being born earlier in the birth order definitely helps lighten the load when there's a new children every other year.
Marriage
Marriage is definitely a stage of life that fundies emphasise for their kids, with purity culture pushing for them to be married as soon as possible to (A) prevent sin and (B) produce children as fast as possible. Of course, there's those for whom marriage doesn't happen at the desired time, but in times like this the advice is to wait "on the Lord's timing".
For those eligible for marriage out of the 36:
21 are married
1 is engaged
1 is in a courtship
The average age for marriage is 22. The youngest age being 18 (Maggie, Reece, Priscilla) and the oldest being 29 (Abbey)
I don't have exact data for the courtships so I can't do an average, but I can say the longest relationship prior to engagement was Abbey and Adam's - they dated for two years before getting engaged.
Speaking of dating, fundies and many other conservative christians push courting rather than dating. They reason that it's more serious and with the purpose of marriage, and if you add in purity culture there's the argument that they're saving 'pieces of their heart' for their future spouse. Out of the 23 couples who are either married or on their way there, only 2 couples kissed before marriage: Abbey & Adam and Brittany & Colton. These two couples weren't held to as strict standards as their cousins due to their parents outlook on things, they already knew that their daughters didn't personally agree with the convictions on purity (plus with brittany marrying into a well known political family, they saw it as a means to an end 😂) The other 19 couples (soon to be 20) saved their first kiss for the altar, as will the one courting couple (Zachary & Kelsey). Only 3 couples had no touch courtships the whole way through (and this number is debatable because I myself couldn't keep a storyline straight hehe - but from the character personalities and different plotlines let's agree with 3): Reece & Stacie, Alan & Tessa, and Tanner & Tabitha. In all 3 cases it was the girls family that set the stricter rules, which is more common as girls are engineered to guard their purity.
As if common with real life fundies, the older the kids get the faster they get in courtships that end in marriage. This is one of that things that you can't really predict since people's stories are different, Adalynn was the first one to get married 13 years ago, and the next family wedding was Barrett's 3 years later. In the first 9 years since the 3rd generation started getting married, 8 couples were married. The beginning of the next decade is when things started to happen in a flurry, 5 couples got married with four of them having their first child in the same year (this wont make sense, but if i try to make it fit real world parameters i'll acc go insane HAHA - this is fictional so it's allowed not to make sense) The most couples to get married in a year is 7 couples, and with the 13 left I doubt that there will be the same back to back that was happening earlier. The girls have gotten married faster than the boys, but that was to be expected when you consider that gender roles play heavily into fundie culture. It's easier to marry off a daughter to be a wife and mother than having to marry of a son, she will be provided for but he needs to be in the place where he can provide for a family that has the potential to grow exponentially. Obviously because this is a game where reality is suspended, the men in the game don't have to do much to be providers.
Education
Education is important as it shapes a person's thoughts and opinions, therefore fundies are more than likely to homeschool their children so that they are in control of what their child is exposed to. For those who think total at home education isn't where the Lord is leading them, there are other options available such as a homeschool co-op and private christian schools, with the last resort being the public education system.
The 2nd generation are quite diverse with their belief systems, influencing their thoughts and opinions around how they educated their children - and let's be honest, finances do play a certain role here whether you like it or not.
Allan & Casandra - Casandra totally homeschooled all 13 of their children through K-12.
Branden & Lea - Lea homeschooled their 3 children from kindergarten through to grade 8, and for high school the kids attended a private christian school.
Claire and Ryan - Claire totally homeschooled/currently homeschools their 10 children.
Danielle and Sebastian - Danielle totally homeschooled/homeschools their two children.
Elaine and Taylor - Elaine homeschooled/homeschools their 5 children through a homeschool co-op that she taught at prior to having children. The kids are educated by various teachers that specialise in different subjects using an approved curriculum.
Fletcher and Cara - They've chosen to send their son to a private christian K-12 school.
Grayson and Keira - Keira homeschools the kids until they're in grade 8, then they send the kids to a private christian school for high school.
When it comes to university, fundies definitely don't push it onto their children as they see it as a place where they'd be brainwashed. As the times have changed, there have been more and more conservative christian universities that have opened up that cater to fundies, so there are more fundies getting a tertiary education.
Right now there are only 8 out of the 36 sims that have gotten degrees or are actively pursuing them:
Beckett - He's the only one of his siblings to attach themselves to a university, even if his degree was in Bible & Missions at a very conservative bible college. His siblings' skill sets are either self taught or they were mentored by someone, though his sister Amira is doing an associates degree at some point (I just haven't figured out in what yet).
Abbey - She has an distinguished degree in biology and currently works as a marine biologist. I sent her and her sister to the in game university and physically sent them to classes and everything (which is something I'm never doing again HAHA). Back then I also didn't have the thought to send them to a christian university, so let's pretend she just skipped everything evolutionary for her degree.
Brittany - She has a distinguished degree in communications and worked as a political commentator before getting married. She and her sister were the first girls to go to university from their cohort (as well as the first to not be homeschooled), especially since they're in the first phase of the 3rd generation when the 'vibe' in their extended family was very conservative.
Tanner - He has his MD and is now working as a doctor (using the in-game university mechanics) he was also the first boy to attend a secular university, but there obviously weren't as many opinions on him doing it than on his sisters doing it.
James - He has his degree in Bible Counselling with a focus on Youth and Ministry from a local bible college in his area. It was a two year degree to help create missionaries that could be sent out to help churches. He met his wife whilst at university and they married as soon as they graduated, they now live in henley on Bagley as missionaries assigned to help grow a church there. His sister Gabriella doesn't know what she wants to do (i also have no clue), so that will be revealed in due time.
Kyra - She got her degree in early education and is now a kindergarten teacher at a private christian school, she even met her husband at the school through his niblings. Her mother (Elaine) being a teacher and her father also being college educated was definitely an inspiration to her. Being educated in a homeschool co-op also helped her realise her love of teaching.
Rory - Rory is currently at a local university getting a law degree (for my game i'm using a mix of education systems, incase you get confused) and is currently enjoying it. He initially wanted to join the police force like his uncle and cousin, but decided on enrolling in university instead. His parent's are encouraging him down the political route, but with a law degree he can do anything.
Ruby Rae - She's currently in nursing school and is enjoying learning the curriculum. In my head she's always been that character that I'd send off to nursing school, especially with her uncle marrying a nurse, it just felt meant to be for her character. I initially envisioned one of allan and casandra's girls maybe going to nursing school too, but in the end it didn't pan out.
The only ones I can say are definitely attending college in some form are James Lee (Fletcher), Matthew and Archie (Grayson). They'll be like their parents and go to fairly conservative universities and go on to live your average fundie-lite conservative life.
Children
CW: There will be mentions of pregnancy, problems with getting and staying pregnant, pregnancy loss, and infertility of various kinds.
Fundies think of children as gifts from God, with many taking that ideology and running with it, usually ending up with children in the double digits if their fertility agrees with it. The notion of being 'quiverfull' implies that a couple don't use any methods of contraception, with the idea that if God wants them to have a child then they will conceive and birth one. 6 couples of the 2nd generation (Allan to Elaine, then Grayson) were all open to whatever kids the Lord would give them, and they ended up with a variety of children - one couple having 13 and another having just 2. Life throws various curveballs, or as they say "the Lord works in mysterious ways", so there can be many plans that don't work out - let's not forget that people's fertility isn't always textbook. Casandra had 2 miscarriages that I didn't plan in game, the mod I have gets triggered by certain conditions and the alert was a surprise to me. I don't roll for pregnancy losses, unless difficulties getting and/or staying pregnant are part of that character's story for whatever reason e.g. Madelynn, Stacie, etc.
Out of the 21 married couples, only 4 don't have children: Abbey & Adam, Beckett & Mandy, James & Emma, and the newlyweds Parker and Lana.
Abbey and Adam - They're not quiverfull so they've got a timeline for when they'll have children, but they definitely want them.
Beckett and Mandy - They've been married for around 4 years and have not yet had children, they're marked as a quiverfull couple so they're not preventing pregnancy, there's just no children as of yet. Honestly speaking, I haven't thought that far about the ways that children appear in their storyline but I have 3-4 options about where things could go.
James and Emma - These two are in the same boat as Beckett and Mandy in terms of their views on children, they want them but haven't 'been blessed' with them yet. In the actual game they're side characters, so I let the 'Neighbourhood Stories' take over their story unless I see it necessary to intervene.
Parker and Lana - They're newlyweds, so there could be a pregnancy announcement from them any day now. Though I have taken real life parameters into consideration with how fast a couple does conceive, since in real life it can take the average 'healthy' couple up to a year to get pregnant. So you'll just have to wait and see when Lana will be posting a sonogram 😂
Of the 17 couples that have children, they have birthed a whopping 50 children that make up the ever growing 4th generation. There are currently only 2 pregnant women that are gestating 3 children, which is I think the lowest to ever happen by holiday season. The speed at which they have children has definitely sped up the more couples get married. When Adalynn got married in 2010, she had cousins still being born, so for the first five years (2010 - 2015) the 10 grandchildren that were born came from her, Barrett, and Valentina (let's not forget that Kyleigh had triplets then twins back to back, so she went from zero to five children in 3 years)
The 10 children born in the 4 years after that are from Adalynn, Barrett, Carter, Valentina, and Brittany. The next 3 years (2020-2023; i use years to count so i don't get lost, but I make it a point not to mention years in the posts cause that adds opportunities for confusion 😂) were a wedding and baby boom, bringing us to the present day. 2020 had 5 couples marry and birth four children, 2021 holds the record for the most weddings and the most children born: 7 couples married and there were 12 children born. 2023 isn't finished in the game, but so far there has been 1 couple married with another set to marry at the end of the year. So far in 2023 there have been 5 children born, and the pregnancies that are in game aren't set to give birth this year so that's the number for that year.
With all these births happening in waves essentially, how fast are these sims multiplying? In true duggardata fashion I've got the intervals ready for you:
Adalynn & Mason - 9 children in 13 years of marriage: 7 singletons and 1 pair of twins, 8 boys and 1 girl.
Skills
Fundies are known to have their kids learn a skills, usually in the form of musical instruments. From my own childhood as well as research I've gathered via many hours of watching and reading, a musical instrument is the best thing to learn as the 'easiest' way to glorify God is through music. Music plays an important role in worship services, and so having children that can play instruments well allows for them to 'be of use' for worship; families also capitalise on said talent and travel around playing music as a ministry.
The skillset of the 2nd generation does play a role into how their children ended up:
Allan worked as a carpenter (and by carpenter i mean he reached level 10 of the woodworking skill and would just make things to sell) whilst being a Pastor, before retiring and working as a Pastor fulltime. He didn't learn how to play an instrument as he was focused on learning a skill that would help provide for a family.
Branden found his skills in writing, he worked as a writer in the writer field and wrote books that now provide him with royalties, like his brother, he wasn't enrolled in music lessons as his parents had other priorities set for him.
Claire was enrolled in music lessons and found she had a real skills for playing the piano as well as writing music, her mother also had her and her sisters learn homemaking skills such as gardening, cooking, balancing a checkbook and how to run a household. Claire put being a wife and mother first, but also continues to use her skills to minister for the Lord. She's become well known for her performance as well as her hymnal music arrangements (think Kim Collingsworth-esque vibe) and also teaches music as various music camps from time to time.
Danielle learnt how to play the violin as well as learning how to be a homemaker, and as she got married later in life she was the person who stepped in to run the house after her mother passed. She uses her skills whenever asked, like playing at church or at various worship events, but she's mainly focused on gardening and baking.
Elaine learnt how to play the piano and used to play at church and various events, but found her joy was in teaching. She took over homeschooling her younger siblings and went on to earn her teaching qualifications.
Fletcher was taught the piano by his older sisters, but lessons weren't pushed on him by his parents. He went on to focus on fitness and joined the police force after finishing highschool.
Grayson was more book focused and didn't learn an instrument, similar to Elaine he focused more on books and studying and ended up going to medical school.
Harley is the youngest girl and learnt how to play the guitar as a girl, as she was the youngest she didn't have to perform as often as the older siblings did. She went on to get a degree in Fine Arts and now works as the editor in chief at San Myshuno's biggest fashion magasine.
It's easiest to display the information based on the sibling order from gen 2, so here's the list of the various skillsets of the 3rd generation:
A -
Casandra being your typical conservative fundie woman, made sure that all the kids got music lessons, whatever she couldn't teach herself she found someone to teach them. Piano: Since Casandra plays the piano she taught the kids until they were in their teens, then if they chose to continue they could get lessons with Claira. Adalynn, Macie, Zoe, Beckett, Charles and Ashton chose to learn the piano and so far Zoe is the only one who has taken that and made it a career of sorts like her aunt Claire. Violin: Macie also chose to learn violin, with Amira, Priscilla, and Annette also learning the violin. Guitar: The boys mostly chose to learn the guitar, Barrett, Reece, and Parker all chose the guitar, with Maggie being the only girl to choose to learn the guitar. Of the 13 kids to learn a musical instrument, only Zoe has taken it and made it something that monetarily supports her.
B -
Lea learned how to play piano growing up, and enrolled all three of her children in piano lessons. Abbey, Brittany, and Tanner all had piano lessons until they were in their teens and focused on different extracurricular activities once they joined the private christian school.
C -
Claire made sure all her children know an instrument, the four girls (Valentina, Celeste, Kristyn, Sabrina) all know both the piano and the violin, with the 6 boys all learning piano and Carter and Alan also learning how to play the guitar. There were many suggestions of them starting a family band, but Claire and Ryan didn't feel that the Lord was leading them in that direction.
D -
Both James and Emma have learnt to play the piano, James' wife Emma can play the piano, violin, and the flute and has her degree (from a biblical college) in music with a focus on worship music.
E -
Elaine put all the kids into either piano or violin lessons, Kyra did lessons in both until she was a teenager, Rory did piano until he was a teenager, Ruby Rae did violin lessons and still plays at church, Ava Grace continues to play Piano, and Amelia still does violin lessons.
F -
Fletcher and Cara put their son into organised sports, so no music lessons this side.
G -
Keira wanted her boys to have some musical knowledge, so Matthew does guitar lessons and Archie does piano lessons.
That's all I've got for now, but as I was doing this I definitely found more things that I could write about in a few months. I hope you enjoy this!

I'ma be real with y'all, I don't think America's massive size and the financial costs of travel are the biggest contributors to the attitudes we have here that make other countries go like
the provincial thing is honestly a fair statement, in the same vein as holding americans who voted for trump accountable - there are bigger reasons for both, but that doesn't minimize how much a lot of americans cultivate and maintain their ignorance to feel more comfortable.
I'd say more legitimate things to mention when talking about american's very self-centric attitudes towards global happenings are things like: the US media deliberately keeps up the image of the United States as a strong, independent world power who don't need no allies, aka the fact that when other countries send us aid in natural disasters or other Big Uh-Ohs, it generally isn't reported by large news outlets. I never knew for years that multiple people, both individuals and organized efforts by various other countries, would send aid to the US when we'd be hit by big hurricanes, fires, and other bad shit
the other day a coworker and I were talking about the recent swan-dive of relations between america and canada and they scoffed at the notion that canada has a military too, and that they also participated in conflicts like the mess in the middle east after 9/11 - But I can't disdain my coworker that much, cuz I didn't know this either until very recently. I'll bet you most americans don't know about the Article 5 collective defense clause NATO has, which was only ever invoked once, on America's behalf after the 9/11 attack, and had multiple countries sending troops to Afghanistan alongside US forces. Canada specifically sent out over 40 thousand. the US as an entity does nOT like to acknowledge when foreign aid has been helpful, and just that kind of 'we pretend we do not see it' attitude does a lot of quiet heavy lifting to influence american attitudes towards the international community.
Additionally, although its more common now than it has been in the past for americans to watch movies and tv from overseas, I'd guess most americans still mostly only watch media centered around american culture, or at least western, english-speaking media (Harry Potter and the Sherlock series are two non-american examples). Now, that's a little weird, considering how much of our media is marketed and consumed around the globe. the US has a LOT of soft power, but we don't import fiction from other places at nearly the same rate. So you end up with this weird correlation between a lot of folks overseas having some idea of american culture while the americans in question have very little exposure or knowledge of anybody else's culture
i mean I've come across quite a few pointed threads or comments online from people overseas about how entitled and aggravating american tourists can be, and I think this is part of why: americans are deliberately presented with a POV that centers them, while not addressing the interconnectedness of modern life in a first world country, and a lot of folks just don't have the curiosity or feel a need to investigate that. add to that the fact that america doesn't really push learning second languages in schools, and many americans won't ever travel overseas, AND that we only share borders with 2 other nations so we don't get a lot of land-based travel from other countries like you see in europe, and its not really all that shocking that the american people don't really grasp how the US fits in to international politics and going-ons
none of this is an excuse. honestly I think the best you can hope for from some americans if you call us out for this is a "well I never actually thought about it all", which is a pretty lackluster defense (i mean, all the moments for me personally where I went "what was i thinkin- oh wait I didn't think" have NOT been my finest), and unfortunately for a fair portion of people, there's a dependence on this worldview and a resulting emotional backlash when its challenged. Basically when a population is propagandized as much as the US is, realistically you don't get a bunch of doe-eyed innocents who mean well but don't know any better, you get a population with a high percentage of people who hold onto said propagandized image as part of their identity and act like ASSHOLES to any info that doesn't fit what they've already been told
its not that the americans you think of when you imagine the ignorant, entitled americans couldn't do/be better - its that people WON'T try to be doing better than they currently are if they believe 'better' is what's in front of them right now so there's no need to improve it
#ALSO: idk why specifically americans are bad at this but our cultural attitude towards service workers#is fucking AWFUL#like i worked one (1) cashier job in between semesters in college#and literally every job i've applied to since then that was just to pay bills has been a manual labor job#cuz manual labor is waaaaay better and less taxing than the shit you have to deal with in customer service#america got itself Fucked Up#you couldn't make some fo this up istg#trying to get people to willingly do stuff that will end up making them embarrassed for the place they come from (rightfully so)#can be very hard to do#especially when those people do so little informed/researched self-critical-analysis that they have no tolerance for feeling uncomfortable#its very fair to mock all these behaviors btw but don't expect mockery to fix it either#i honestly have no clue what WOULD fix it#like i would have said reality will eventually dole out some stinging slaps but...it did and america STILL has its head up its own ass

#waiting on the official analysis to be sure#BUT we just finished scanning a mouse and preliminary data supports my claim#Like my boss pointed it out. Which is wild because he’s been so doubtful even though I did weeks of research for this#I feel really stupid in this job because I did a different type of biology and am usually lost when people discuss stuff#So my self confidence has been really low#But if the final analysis concurs the preliminary stuff: then this is the second time I’ve saved this multi-million dollar project#I know my boss gets frustrated having to repeat himself and that I’m sometimes slow to answer because I like to triple check my math#But this reinforces that my slow methodical approach is actually doing good#Like straight up the study would’ve given false negative results for the first issue I solved.#And potentially the same for this second issue#runon post

Self-cleaning glass is a form of glass that is designed to maintain its surface clear of dirt and grime. A thin coating of compounds with photolytic and hydrophilic characteristics is deposited to create these glasses. The glass becomes easier to clean as a result of the depositing. The glass's self-cleaning layer is divided into two categories: hydrophobic and hydrophilic. Both types of coatings are capable of self-cleaning due to the action of water. Glass that cleans itself is good for the environment. Furthermore, it saves water during washing and eliminates the need for additional chemicals to clean the surface. Fog and glare resistance are well-known features of self-cleaning glasses.
