Happy Birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 🎊 To You
The Newest Young Jewish ✡ American SNL Comedian, Actor & Writer In The Entertainment Industry Today Of The 21st Century
Peter Michael Davidson was born in New York City's Staten Island borough on November 16, 1993, the son of Amy (née Waters) and Scott Matthew Davidson. His father was a New York City firefighter for Ladder 118 who died in service during the September 11, 2001 attacks, along with the rest of his unit. He was last seen running up the stairs of the Marriott World Trade Center just before the building was destroyed when the Twin Towers collapsed. His Requiem Mass was held at St. Clare's Catholic Church in Great Kills, Staten Island. Davidson, then aged seven, was profoundly affected by the loss. He told The New York Times that it was "overwhelming" and that he later acted out in school as a result of the trauma, at one point ripping his hair out until he was bald. In October 2016, he revealed on The Breakfast Club morning radio show that he struggled with suicidal thoughts when he was younger and that the music of Kid Cudi saved his life.
He is an American comedian, actor, and writer. He started standup in 2013 before being hired as cast member on the NBC late-night sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live for eight seasons from 2014 to 2022.
Davidson began his career in the early 2010s with minor guest roles on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Friends of the People, Guy Code, and Wild 'n Out. He released his comedy specials Pete Davidson: SMD (2016) and Pete Davidson: Alive from New York (2020).
Davidson starred and executive produced the comedy film Big Time Adolescence (2019), and co-wrote and starred in the semi-autobiographical comedy-drama film The King of Staten Island (2020), and the Peacock series Bupkis (2023). He continued acting in films such as The Suicide Squad (2021), Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022), and Meet Cute (2022).

Jack’s Mannequin Announces The MFEO Tour
Jack’s Mannequin are celebrating their 20th anniversary with a tour. Andrew talked with Rolling Stone about the announcement: I’ll be honest, I’m anxious about it. My therapist will be on call for this round. With Jack’s Mannequin it was so story-driven. Since it was mine exclusively from a writing standpoint, it became this vehicle to really latch my journey to my writing and be able to author those things through these three records. I never expected that Jack’s was going to be a three-record project, I think we just got so caught in the swirl of everything that was happening around the project. Those three records, that period of life, everything is so attached and bound together. Stepping back into that will be a workout, emotionally and physically. I’m excited to be able to tell that story onstage every night. We’re going to learn all of these songs and try and keep the set really alive and unique from show to show so that people who are fans of the band get a taste of everything. As we get deeper into rehearsals, we’re going to try and get a lot of the B-sides learned as well. Obviously, we know it’s the 20-year anniversary of Transit, so there’ll be a lot of Transit in there, but we’re going to have a whole lot of time to really dig in. Jack’s Mannequin is back. The acclaimed alternative pop rock group, led by veteran indie-pop singer-songwriter-pianist Andrew McMahon, has announced The MFEO Tour to celebrate their 20th anniversary. The 24-date North American headlining tour, with special guests to be announced, will officially launch on June 4th in Portland, Maine and travel throughout the month stopping in Boston, New York City (June 7th at The Rooftop at Pier 17), Philadelphia, Charlotte, Richmond, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Kansas City, Chicago and St. Paul. Following their debut performance at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre on July 23rd for McMahon’s sold-out Three Pianos event and headlining shows in Japan in September, The MFEO Tour will resume October 11that The Wiltern in Los Angeles and make its way to St. Petersburg, Orlando, Atlanta, Columbus, Toronto, Cleveland, Detroit (for the 16th Annual Dear Jack Benefit on November 11th at The Fillmore), Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, and Anaheim before wrapping November 23rd in Del Mar, California. In addition, Jack’s Mannequin will be performing at select festivals in 2025 including Bonnaroo, When We Were Young, Innings Festival, and SXSW, with the latter’s details to be announced soon. PRESS HERE to watch the tour promo video and PRESS HERE to read an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone about the return of Jack’s Mannequin and the upcoming tour. Camp Wilderness fan club presale begins Tuesday, January 28th at 10am local time with artist, local and Spotify presales available Wednesday, January 29th and Thursday, January 30th starting at 10am local time daily. The public on-sale will commence Friday, January 31st at 10am local time. $1 per ticket for The MFEO Tour will be donated to the Dear Jack Foundation. See below for full list of upcoming tour dates and visit https://andrewmcmahon.com/pages/tour-dates for more information, to purchase tickets, and to sign up for a chance at getting tickets to the artist presale. Jack’s Mannequin wants to give fans, not scalpers, the best chance to buy The MFEO Tour tickets at face value. To make this possible they have chosen to use Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange. If fans purchase tickets for a show and can't attend, they'll have the option to resell them to other fans on Ticketmaster at the original price paid. To ensure Face Value Exchange works as intended, Jack’s Mannequin has requested all tickets be mobile only and restricted from transfer. New York, Illinois, Colorado, Virginia, Connecticut, and Utah have passed state laws requiring unlimited ticket resale and limiting artists’ ability to determine how their tickets are resold. To adhere to local law, tickets in these states will not be restricted from transfer but the band… https://chorus.fm/news/jacks-mannequin-announces-the-mfeo-tour/

Anniversaries during 2022 as far as characters from the classic Disney universe in general are concerned (cartoons, comics, video games).
Once again, I wish you a happy new year in 2022, so I can publish a special post about the events related to this year, and focused on Disney's famous heroes, their movies and series. Before I list some anniversaries, let me just say that, although belatedly, I wish all Orthodox who celebrate according to the Julian calendar a Merry Christmas, that is, happy holidays! С Рождеством! Христос родился! Срећан Божић! Христос се роди!
1. 70 years since the creation of Junior Woodchucks
Admittedly, this is related to 2021, but let me post here as a corrected mistake. In February 1951, Carl Barks published a comic book called "Operation St. Bernard", which mentions for the first time the famous group of young scouts "Junior Woodchucks" and in which Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck (Donald's nephews) are members of the organization and with the help of the Junior Woodchuck Guide Book finds answers to every problem. And yes, this comic is about Huey, Dewey and Louie try to make Bolivar a real St. Bernhard's rescue dog.

2. 70 years since Barks' comic "A Christmas For Shacktown"
Yes, this comic was published on November 20, 1951, but it was already published in 1952 in some countries. Certainly, in my opinion this is the best comic published by Carl Barks. Yes, this is one of the best comics in terms of Christmas specials.

3. 70 years since the appearance of the comic "Golden Helmet"
Also, one of the best comics by Carl Barks, which talks about the search for a golden helmet in which Donald Duck together with his nephews go with Azure Blue and Sharky in search of a golden Viking helmet. Although the story was created on December 3, 1951, this comic will be published on May 20, 1952.

4. 90 years since the creation and first appearance of Goofy
A character named Dippy Dawg, who would later be renamed Goofy and one of the most important and best Disney characters ever, first appeared in Disney's classic short "Mickey's Revue" on May 27, 1932.

5. 70 years since the appearance of Goofy Junior or A.K.A. Max Goof (Goofy's son) (although it will be 30 years)
Although the question is whether he is the same character or not, he still appeared as Goofy Junior in Disney's classic short under the name "Fathers Are People", came out for the first time on October 21, 1951 under the direction of Jack Kinney as the son of George Geef Goofy. He will appear several times as Goofy Junior, and after some time in 1992, on September 5, he will appear as Max Goof as Goofy's son and will be a very famous Disney character for a while through several cartoons and animated films.

6. 30th anniversary of the Goof Troop series
On September 5, 1992, the Goof Troop series began to air, one of Disney’s Afternoon series, which is one of my favorite Disney series, where there is mostly harmony and quarrel between Goofy’s neighbors and Pete and their family. Yes, in addition to Max, Pete Junior (and he has his anniversary), Peg and Pistol also appear.

7. 85 years since the first appearance of Donald's nephews (Huey, Dewey and Louie) in the comic "Donald's nephews"
On October 17, 1937, Donald's nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie first appeared in a comic strip by Al Taliaferro "Donald's Nephews" and who would surely change Donald's life later. First as very naughty boys that their mother Della Duck could not take care of, until Donald finally adopted them, to smarter and more mature boys. The first animated display of themselves will be in the classic short of the same name, "Donald's Nephews", on April 15, 1938.

8. 85th anniversary of Daisy Duck (then Donna Duck)
Although Daisy Duck officially appeared in the classic shorts "Mr. Duck Steps Out" on June 7, 1940, her prototype was created in the classic shorts "Don Donald", shown on January 9, 1937. Of course then it was Donna Duck, but she would later be called Daisy Duck, while Donna Duck would later be a separate person and Daisy’s sister.

9. The 80th anniversary of the first appearance of Pete's son, Pete Junior or P.J.
In the classic short "Bellboy Donald", first shown on December 18, 1942, Pete's son named Pete Junior appears for the first time, who was a real villain at the time. He would later reshape and become P.J. in Goof Troop and he will then be a calm and scared (because of his father) boy, but very friendly and he was shown for the first time in Goof Troop in 1992 (I just published about it).

10. 80 years since the first appearance of Jose Carioca and the movie "Saludos Amigos"
On August 24, 1942, the then movie "Saludos Amigos" was shown, which shows the diversity of South America. Although it was necessary to look for allies in South America during the Second World War, this film still showed very well and introduced some novelties and acquaintances with other cultures. Also appearing for the first time is Jose Carioca, a parrot from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil who will be Donald's best friend, and later the two of them will be Panchito Pistoles' best friends in the movie "The Three Caballeros" two years later. Jose Carioca will certainly appear many times so far in cartoons and comics, but especially in comics in Brazil where he has his family and friends.

11. 75th anniversary of the first appearance of Scrooge McDuck
In the comic "Christmas on Bear Mountain" by Carl Barks, published in November and December 1947, Donald's uncle, Scrooge McDuck, who will be the richest duck in the world, appears for the first time. It should not be forgotten that Scrooge will have his first animated feature in "Scrooge McDuck and Money", in 1967, together with Donald's nephews (these are Scrooge's grandnephews).

12. 70th anniversary of the first appearance of Gyro Gearloose (plus Little Helper)
The comic book "Gladstone's Terrible Secret", also by Carl Barks, published in May 1952, although written on August 23, 1951, features Gyro Gearloose, a famous inventor who invents various things and is Donald's best friend and a friend of his family (although Scrooge pays him poorly, even with peanuts). Of course, there’s his assistant, Little Helper.

13. 70th anniversary of the first appearances of April, May and June Duck (Daisy’s nieces)
Although it will first appear in a comic book by Carl Barks' "Flip Decision", released in February 1953, the story takes place on June 30, 1952, and it is then that Daisy's nieces are born to be part of Daisy's family. Yes, they are called April, May and June Duck (by the names of the months) and they will play a big role in comics, especially in European comics. Although they appear in the animation for the first time in House of Mouse, it is more of a cameo than a real role, and the real role will be played in Legends of the Three Caballeros and that they will be great there. In addition to being Daisy’s nieces, they will also be partners for Donald’s nephews, although it causes confusion in some things (Daisy’s brother as the father of Donald’s nephews in some Duck comic book authors).

14. 70th Anniversary of Glittering Goldie (Goldie O'Gilt)
Although she first appeared in the comic book "Back to the Klondike", she appeared as a character on September 18, 1952 by Carl Barks. Yes, she was a famous dancer in the Klondike and was called "Star of The North" and who was Scrooge's love from the past until she stole his gold. Yes, Barks used her only once in his comics, but she often appears in other comics (especially from Don Rosa) and in the animated series Ducktales.

15. 55th anniversary of Dickie Duck
Yes, although this is more for 2021, but let's not forget it. She is Goldie's granddaughter and first appeared on December 18, 1966 in the comic book "The Miner's Granddaughter" ("Arriva Paperetta Yè-Yè") by Romano Scarpa and will have an interesting role in Italian and Brazilian comics. Yes, she is sometimes portrayed as a teenager and sometimes as a young woman, although she depends on various Duck comic book writers.

15. 35th Anniversary of Sport Goofy in Soccermania
On May 27, 1987, a special Disney special was shown in which Goofy and Scrooge meet in one place. Yes, this is a Duckburg football game against the Beagle Boys.

16. 35th Anniversary of the Ducktales Series (plus the 5th Anniversary of the Ducktales Reboot) plus the 35th Anniversary of the Appearances of Launchpad McQuack, Bentina Beakley, Webby Vanderquack and Duckworth
On September 18, 1987, the Ducktales were shown for the first time, which will be a legendary series and one of the best and longest then made by Disney. Yes, and it belongs to Disney Afternoon. Taking inspiration from the Carl Barks comics, an animated series was made about the adventures of Scrooge McDuck and Donald’s nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck. There are also new characters who will be icons of their time and are now popular, namely Launchpad McQuack, Scrooge's pilot, later Darkwing Duck, as Darkwing's sidekick, then Bentina Beakley and her granddaughter Webby and balter Duckworth. Of course, there are other characters, but these stand out. Ducktales himself will have his animated movie shown in 1990 and 27 years later, in 2017, the Ducktales reboot. I’m sure most like this series.

17. 20th anniversary of the Kingdom Hearts video game
Yes, this is something that most Disney fans and most video game fans love. On March 28, 2002, in collaboration with Disney, the Japan Square company released a video game to be played on the Playstation that will be one of Disney’s icons in recent years, an icon of the 21st century. This is one of the biggest Disney crossovers in which a fourteen-year-old boy Sora, along with Riku and Kairi need to find the key to the heart. Yes, Sora's companions will certainly be Donald Duck as a wizard and Goofy as a crazy knight, but with a good heart. And Mickey Mouse is the king of that universe. Yes, there are characters from the Final Fantasy video game series. This game will improve and will be released in sequels. Although, I recommend it to experts who understand that.

18. 20th Anniversary of Pk: Out of the Shadows (video game)
It is an action adventure video game that was created and realized in 2002 by Ubi Soft Entertainment and in which Donald Duck as Pk. Yes, if you know about the Pk-Duck Avenger or PKNA (Paperinik New Adventures) comics, then you will know about this game as well. A video game in which Donald Duck as Duck Avenger (Pk) fights against the alien ducks Evronians, especially against Zoster and General Zondag. Yes, it is interesting that Pk starred by Rob Paulsen.

I think that’s what this year’s anniversary is all about. If you have any more related to this topic, feel free to let me know and apologize if I forgot someone or something.
Happy anniversary to all and these characters and these movies and series and comics and cartoons and video games. Also, if you like any of these characters or like any of these series or movies or video games or comics, feel free to like this or reblog this.

“Letters to Charlie”
Summary: A selection of letters from Ron to his brother Charlie, throughout Ron's first four years at Hogwarts. Includes some mild Romione mentions.
Read on FFN. Read on AO3.
~~~~~~~~~
[1st October 1991]
Dear Charlie,
How are things at the reserve? You said in your last letter that you’ve been getting a lot more burns than normal; have you asked mum for her recipe on salves?
Anyway, I’m settling in okay at Hogwarts. Really glad I was in Gryffindor; my friend Harry was really worried about it, I think. He’s doing fine, but I wish everyone would stop gawking at him all the time. He’s a good bloke; bit quiet but, considering what his aunt and uncle seem to be like, that’s not surprising.
Also, there’s this girl in our class who’s pretty annoying. She treats everyone like they’re idiots and she’s such a teacher’s pet! Her name’s Hermione Granger, and she’s always butting in whenever me and Harry are chatting. She’s not all bad, but I wish she wouldn’t be so uptight about everything. You’d think that someone with hair that bushy would be a bit more fun-loving, but she’s very straightlaced. But I saw her laughing the other day at a joke I made, so maybe she’s not so serious all the time? She has a cute nice laugh.
Don’t tell the twins I said that, or they’ll never stop going on about it.
Anyway, hope you’re okay and that everyone at the reserve is doing fine,
Love,
Ron
[12th November 1991]
Dear Charlie,
Glad to hear that that the Common Welsh Green pair are doing okay. Things have gotten pretty weird at Hogwarts; someone (probably Peeves) let a troll into the castle at Halloween! Me and Harry had to rescue Hermione Granger from the troll; she covered for us, so we didn’t get punished. McGonagall even gave us some points for Gryffindor!
Hermione’s alright, I think. Bit intense, but she’s not as stuffy as I thought. I mean, it was kind-of my fault that she ended up getting caught by the troll, so I’m glad she didn’t hold a grudge about it. She’s always asking me about stuff, probably because she’s never grown up in a magical family. You wouldn’t think it if you saw her in class, though; she gets so many questions right and she’s apparently memorised the textbooks! Barmy, I know, but she’s alright.
Speaking of dragons, do you know if there’s any way of getting a baby one out of the country? Hagrid has a baby Norwegian Ridgeback in his house, but it’s dangerous for the baby to stay here.
Love,
Ron
[16th August 1992]
Dear Charlie,
We managed to rescue Harry from the Dursleys! Mum went mad when we got back, but no harm done. Harry’s aunt and uncle had bars put on his window! I told mum we had to get him out quick; good thing I noticed he wasn’t responding to my letters. Apparently, a house-elf was trying to stop him going back to Hogwarts; weird, right?
Hermione’s saying that she’s hoping to meet up with us in Diagon Alley; I hope so. It’ll be nice to see her again. Apparently, she’s already done all her homework, but that’s what she’s like. What do you think I should get her for her birthday? I asked Harry, but he suggested one of the textbooks (the poor bloke’s never had to buy any presents for anyone ever). I was thinking maybe some of her favourite long-lasting quills, but I’m not sure. Do you reckon I should get her something more… girly? Her best mates are two blokes, so maybe she’d like something to make it clear that I we don’t just see her as another boy? What do you think?
I’m looking forward to Hogwarts this year; hopefully, it should be a bit quieter than last year. How’s your summer been going? You mentioned about the Chinese Fireball having fang rot; has that been fixed yet, or is she still having troubles?
Hope all’s good with you,
Love,
Ron
[6th January 1993]
Dear Charlie,
You’ve probably heard the news already about the attacks happening at Hogwarts. The teachers don’t seem to know who’s doing it. Me, Harry, and Hermione have been trying to figure things out, but we haven’t got any leads lately. We thought it might have been Malfoy, but turns out he’s not doing it (still too happy about the attacks, though, the little git!).
I’m really worried about Hermione, to be honest. The attacks are always against muggle-borns and I’m scared she’s gonna be attacked. Do you know if there’s any creature that can petrify someone? I would ask the defence teacher, but Lockhart can barely tell one end of his wand from the other. Can’t see why Hermione likes him so much; can’t she see how much of a stupid twerp he is?
Like I said before, I’m really sorry about breaking your old wand. I know you said you don’t mind and you’re just glad I was okay, but still. It keeps making weird bubbles whenever I try and cast any spells. My own fault for breaking it, I guess.
Hope you’re well,
Love,
Ron
[8th May 1993]
Dear Charlie,
Hermione got attacked. She’s been stuck in the hospital wing ever since.
I’m scared. Harry’s managing to keep his head screwed on straight, but I can’t concentrate in lessons. I keep expecting Hermione to be sat next to me, and whenever I turn to look at her, I remember where she is. All pale and cold, like she’d dead or something.
What do I do, Charlie? How do I help her?
Love,
Ron
[1st June 1993]
Dear Charlie,
Hermione’s okay! The mandrake stuff finally got given to her, and she’s back to normal! I haven’t smiled this much in months! She gave me and Harry a massive hug each when she turned up in the great hall; me and her couldn’t quite look each-other in the eye afterwards, but I think we both got a bit overwhelmed, you know?
Turns out, this was also because Lucius Malfoy was trying to stop dad’s muggle protection law being passed; people could have died!
Confused as to why none of the teachers bothered to ask Myrtle, since she was a witness to the last time the chamber has been opened, but I guess we’ll never know. Were the teachers like this when you were here?
Anyway, got to go; I insisted that Hermione play some chess with me, since our exams have been cancelled (can you guess which Gryffindor was upset about that?).
Love,
Ron
[3rd September 1993]
Dear Charlie,
We’re all settling back in at Hogwarts; I’m still using those quills you got me in Egypt (thanks again, by the way). Everyone’s talking about Sirius Black, and Malfoy won’t stop being smug about how he knows something we don’t (arrogant little twerp as always).
Hermione’s cat is a bloody nightmare; he’s spent every evening trying to get at Scabbers, but Hermione won’t hear a word against him! Honestly, I don’t get why she can’t just keep the cat away when I ask her to. But she’s always had this thing about being right about everything, so it’s not unsurprising. I just wish she’d stop acting like it’s normal; Hedwig’s been around for three years, and she’s never attacked Scabbers!
Having said that, the first Hogsmeade visit is something to look forward to. It’s gonna be a bit different because Harry can’t go (his aunt and uncle refused to sign his form), but me and Hermione are going to make sure we take back lots of stuff for him so he doesn’t feel left out.
I am a little nervous about going, though; me and Hermione spend loads of time together, so why would this be any different? Probably nothing. Maybe it’s just because we’re bickering more because of our pets? Yeah, that sounds about right. I’ve already got her birthday present, so hopefully she’s not too angry at me and won’t mind me giving her a present.
Let me know how the Chinese Fireball baby is doing,
Love,
Ron
[4th January 1994]
Dear Charlie,
Hermione just can’t keep her nose out of things! She reported Harry’s firebolt to McGonagall, and now it’s been confiscated! She says it’s because it could have been sent by Sirius Black. I know that’s a possibility, but she didn’t need to go behind Harry’s back about it!
I swear, this girl is driving me nuts!
Love,
Ron
[13th February 1994]
Dear Charlie,
Me and Hermione have made things up; she even apologised about Scabbers. She must have been really upset, because she started crying and hugged me! Is it normal to get all flustered when a girl hugs you? Cause it didn’t the same as it did when she hugged me at the end of second year.
You’ve probably heard from Hagrid about Buckbeak being executed. We’re trying to get an appeal plea sorted; it’s mostly me and Hermione doing it, since Harry’s got other stuff to worry about. It’s nice being friends with Hermione again; I hated it when we weren’t speaking. It’s still a bit awkward (we both can’t quite look each other in the eye at times), but that’s probably normal, given what’s happened.
Remember to put that salve mum made on your new scars,
Love,
Ron
[14th July 1994]
Dear Charlie,
Hope you’re enjoying the summer so far; it’ll be great to see you again, mum’s organising the room situation, so I think you’re sharing with Bill. Can’t wait for the world cup! Do you think Ireland will win against Bulgaria? I’ve been saving my pocket money all summer for it, so I can buy some souvenirs! Are you gonna bring some stories about the dragons when you get here?
Mum’s said I can invite Harry and Hermione over, and they’ll be coming to the world cup with us! It’ll be brilliant to see them again; Harry deserves a break from those horrible people he lives with, and Hermione could do with a break from work in general (she’s already finished all her summer homework, but that’s what she’s like).
It’ll be great to have both of them here for the summer; I hope Hermione doesn’t mind sharing with Ginny, since Gin’s more of a Quidditch-head than Hermione is. Mum keeps on at me to tidy my room before Hermione arrives, but it’s not as if she’s staying in my room, is it?
I did clean up my room a bit, though. Hermione’s a bit funny about mess, and I don’t want her to think I’m a slob.
See you soon,
Love,
Ron
[30th October 1994]
Dear Charlie,
I’m still angry at mum, dad, and Bill for keeping us in the dark about the Triwizard Tournament; half the other kids from wizarding families knew! Speaking of the Tournament, the students from the other schools have arrived. You won’t believe it but Viktor Krum’s a student at Durmstrang! He’s a bit grouchy looking, but I guess he gets sick of people treating him different all the time. I didn’t know he was eighteen; he looks way older. The Slytherins are trying to cosy up to him, but he’s knows exactly what they’re doing; I saw him telling a few of them off for being unpleasant to the muggle-born first years. So I guess he’s alright.
The students from Beauxbatons are all nice enough but one of the girls has some sort of Veela charm thing. Hermione keeps glaring at me whenever I get caught in it, but it’s hardly my fault, is it? Harry gets affected too, but does she yell at him? No, of course she doesn’t. I swear, Hermione’s been weird ever since the term started; the other week I caught her staring at my hands for no reason. She got all flustered when she saw I’d noticed, and yelled at me to concentrate on my work. I’m worried about her. Did that ever happen between you and your friends at school? Is this something that happens around our age? I know that mum said things start to change after you get into your teenage years.
Speaking of change, I hope I can get some new dress robes before I ever have to wear these ones. Do you think Bill has any old ones he can let me borrow? I don’t get why mum didn’t just remove the lace and change the colour. I was going to ask Hermione to do it, but I don’t want her to think I’m whining. I just wish I could have some decent robes like all the other boys have. I know money’s tight at the moment, but even the twins have got alright-looking robes to wear I’d feel a lot better if I wasn’t stuck wearing rubbishy clothes for once.
Apparently, the tournaments due to start tomorrow evening. Me and Harry did have a think about entering, but it’s probably too high security. Fred and George said they’re gonna enter, because they turn seventeen in April, so they won’t need to use much aging potion. Should be interesting to see whether they succeed. I just hope we get a decent Hogwarts champion; Cedric Diggory’s alright, but half the girls get giggly over him and it’s bloody annoying. Hermione says it’s because he’s a prefect, but she’s a bit funny like that. If I ever end up a prefect, I bet I wouldn’t have girls giggling and getting flustered about me.
Got to go now; Hermione said she wants to go over our Transfiguration homework in the common room.
Love,
Ron
[25th November 1994]
Dear Charlie,
You should have told me you’d be here for the first task! I know it was secret, but it would have been nice to catch up! Glad the trip over was safe and that the dragons are all okay. That Hungarian Horntail was a nasty piece of work; Harry almost got hit by it!
Speaking of which, me and Harry are best mates again. I’m glad; it was miserable when we weren’t speaking. Funnily enough, he said he didn’t even need an apology; just told me to forget about it. Weird bloke, but it’s great to be friends with him again. Hermione got all teary and told us we were being stupid, but she’s never really understood things like this, so there you go.
Love,
Ron
[17th December 1994]
Dear Charlie,
Glad to hear the dragons got safely back to Romania with no issues. I almost wish I was there instead; ever since this ball thing got announced, half the school’s gone mad about it. Everyone’s asking everyone to it, and I don’t get it. Why can’t we all just go as friends and have fun? But the boys keep going on about dates, so I said I best go with someone good-looking. Yes, I know it’s dumb, but how else will I get everyone to not laugh at my robes? I even asked McGonagall if I could go in my school ones, but she insisted that I use my official dress robes (although she did look sympathetic while she said it, so I guess she understood where I was coming from).
Flitwick’s doing alterations to people’s robes, but he was so swamped with requests that there isn’t any room for me to get mine changed. I swear, I can’t wait until the ball is done and I won’t have to worry about this stuff anymore.
I’d happily stay behind in Gryffindor Tower with the first, second and third years, but I can’t leave Harry in the lurch. He’s got to be there to open the ball, and it wouldn’t be fair to leave him on his own; the poor bloke isn’t good with crowds, especially since half of the school still gawks at his scar every day.
Hermione doesn’t seem to take much interest in the ball, so maybe she’s also planning on staying behind. She got angry at me when I mentioned about going with a pretty girl, which is understandable (it was a dumb thing to say). Hopefully, she’ll have forgiven me by the time Christmas swings around, and we can just go and have fun at the ball. Just as friends, obviously. Maybe if we’re having a laugh, I won’t have to think about my robes looking so awful.
Love,
Ron
[27th December 1994]
Dear Charlie,
I swear, if I ever have to go to another ball again, it’ll be too soon! Hermione’s still angry at me about it; which makes sense, since I was a bit of an arse. But, well, she went with Krum! Seriously, he’s eighteen and she’s barely fifteen! Why didn’t any of the teachers think that was creepy? Why was I the only person who got irritated by it? Is it really so bad that I don’t want my friend being pursued by some creepy eighteen-year-old git? I know what the twins are saying about it, but it’s alright for them, isn’t it? They had decent robes and could actually ask a girl without the girl glaring at them like they’d only just realised the girl was a girl! Gits. They don’t get it.
Ginny had a nice time with Neville, at the very least. Neville’s a good bloke, and I’m glad he treated her well. Apparently, she borrowed a dress off a friend for the ball. I wish I was shorter so I could have just borrowed something off Harry; that would have at least made things a bit easier. Then I wouldn’t have already been a bad mood before we even got to the ball.
Seriously, I’m never wearing those robes again. I don’t care what mum says, I’d rather go in my normal school ones that those frilly disasters.
Me and Hermione are being more polite to each other than normal, which is probably for the best. I hate the fact that I got so angry at her, but I’ve learnt now to not act like that again. I mean, considering she got Krum, I don’t think she’ll need to worry about me acting like that again. It wasn’t as if she even said she wanted to go with me, either; how was I supposed to know? I’m not a mind-reader!
Hope your Christmas is going better than mine, and thank you for the burn-proof socks; they’ll come in handy against the Skrewts.
Love,
Ron
[27th February 1995]
Dear Charlie,
It was nice getting some of the limelight for a while; everyone was asking me about what it was like during the second task. I even had Padma Patil hanging on to my every word about it; I even managed to apologise to her properly for being such a berk at the ball (she was my dance partner, but we didn’t do any dancing). She seemed pretty okay with it.
Fleur Delacour (you remember, the champion who used the calming charm on her dragon in the first task) is being very nice lately; I think she got the impression me and Harry helped saved her sister in the second task. She even gave me a kiss on the cheek after we were all out of the lake! It’s nice to get attention from girls for a change.
Funnily enough, Hermione get glaring at me for the rest of the day. Funny how it’s fine for her to get attention from boys (that creep Krum had her as the person he’d miss the most; they’ve only been to the Yule ball together, the pervy git!), but I can’t do so much as talk to other girls without getting the cold treatment from her. Barmy as ever, but that’s what she’s like.
I think Harry’s really happy about the tournament just having one task left; at this point, I just hope he gets through it with no injuries or anything. Poor bloke’s had another rough year, and I hope he can take it easy after this is all over.
I wonder what I’ll get for my birthday this year. You think Hermione will get me anything? She’s so irritable lately that I wouldn’t be surprised if she just gets me a card and some chocolate frogs. Given what’s happened between us lately, that sounds about as much as I can hope for.
At least we’re still friends, though. I’m not that much of an idiot that I’d stop talking to her over this. I almost lost one friend this year; I don’t want the same thing happening with Hermione.
Love,
Ron
[29th June 1995]
Dear Charlie,
Harry left the hospital wing a few days ago. Me and Hermione are trying to help him as best we can, but the poor bloke still’s struggling. I’m not surprised, considering what he went through.
Dumbledore’s said that things are already changing. I just hope he knows what to do. But he’s still saying that Harry needs to go back to the Dursleys this summer. I hope we can pick him up as soon as possible; Harry’s relatives are bloody horrible.
After the third task, me and Hermione stayed up in the common room. We’ve both said we’re gonna help Harry with whatever happens in future. She also hugged me before she went to bed. It was different this time. It seemed like neither of us wanted to let go.
Stay safe,
Love,
Ron
• Hugh Dowding
Air Chief Marshal Hugh Caswall Tremenheere Dowding, 1st Baron Dowding, GCB, GCVO, CMG was an officer in the Royal Air Force. He was Air Officer Commanding RAF Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain and is generally credited with playing a crucial role in Britain's defence.
Dowding was born at St. Ninian's Boys' Preparatory School in Moffat, Dumfriesshire, on April 24th, 1882 the son of Arthur John Caswall Dowding and Maud Caroline Dowding. Dowding was educated at St Ninian's School and Winchester College. He trained at the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich before being commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Royal Garrison Artillery on August 18th, 1900. Promoted to lieutenant in May 1902, Dowding served with the Royal Garrison Artillery at Gibraltar, in Ceylon and in Hong Kong before being posted to No. 7 Mountain Artillery Battery in India in 1904. After returning to the United Kingdom, he attended the Army Staff College 1912 before being promoted to captain in August 1913 and being posted with the Royal Garrison Artillery on the Isle of Wight later that year. After becoming interested in aviation, Dowding gained Aviator's Certificate no. 711 on December 19th, 1913 in a Vickers biplane at the Vickers School of Flying, Brooklands. He then attended the Central Flying School, where he was awarded his wings. Although added to the Reserve List of the Royal Flying Corps (RFC), Dowding returned to the Isle of Wight to resume his Royal Garrison Artillery duties. However, this arrangement was short lived and in August 1914, he joined the RFC as a pilot on No. 7 Squadron.
Dowding transferred to No. 6 Squadron in October 1914 and then, after two weeks as a staff officer in France, became a Flight Commander, first with No. 9 Squadron and then with No. 6 Squadron. He became commanding officer of the Wireless Experimental Establishment at Brooklands in March 1915 and went on to be commanding officer of No. 16 Squadron in July 1915. After the Battle of the Somme, Dowding clashed with General Hugh Trenchard, the commander of the RFC, over the need to give pilots some rest and recuperation. Promoted to major on December 30th, 1915, Dowding was recalled to England in January 1916, and, having been promoted to temporary lieutenant colonel on February 1st, 1916 was given command of 7 Wing at Farnborough later that month. He transferred to the command of 9 wing at Fienvillers in June 1916. Returning to England, he was promoted to temporary colonel on January 1st, 1917 on appointment as commander of the Southern Group Command and promoted to temporary brigadier-general on June 23rd, 1917 before being given command of the southern training brigade in August 1917. He was sent to York as chief staff officer to the RAF's senior administrative officer in the area in April 1918. He was appointed a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George in January 1919. Dowding was given a permanent commission in the RAF on August 1st, 1919 with the rank of group captain. He commanded No. 16 Group from October 1919 and then No. 1 Group from February 1920 where he was responsible for organising two of the annual air displays at Hendon. He was promoted to air commodore on January 1st, 1922, and served as chief staff officer at Inland Area headquarters at Uxbridge from February 1922 before being appointed Chief Staff Officer for RAF Iraq Command in August 1924. Dowding was an accomplished skier, winner of the first ever National Slalom Championship, and president of the Ski Club of Great Britain from 1924 to 1925. In May 1926 Dowding was appointed director of training at the Air Ministry. He was appointed a Companion of the Order of the Bath on January 2nd, 1928 and promoted to air vice-marshal in January 1929.
Trenchard sent him to Palestine and Transjordan to study security problems caused by Arab–Jewish unrest: his reports, which gained Trenchard's approval, were a cause of further career advancement. Dowding became Air Officer Commanding Fighting Area, Air Defence of Great Britain in December 1929 and then joined the Air Council as Air Member for Supply and Research in September 1930. Dowding's time in this office coincided with a period of rapid development in aircraft design and a growing fear that another major war was on the horizon. Although without scientific or technical training, he displayed a great capacity for understanding technical matters. He was promoted to air marshal in January 1933 and advanced to Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath in June 1933. In July 1936 Dowding was appointed commanding officer of the newly created RAF Fighter Command, and was perhaps the one important person in Britain, and perhaps the world, who did not agree with British Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin's 1932 declaration that "The bomber will always get through". He conceived and oversaw the development of the "Dowding system". This consisted of an integrated air defence system which included radar (whose potential Dowding was among the first to appreciate), human observers (including the Royal Observer Corps), who filled crucial gaps in what radar was capable of detecting at the time (the early radar systems, for example, did not provide good information on the altitude of incoming German aircraft), raid plotting, and radio control of aircraft. The whole network was linked in many cases by dedicated telephone cables buried sufficiently deeply to provide protection against bombing. The network had its centre at RAF Bentley Priory, a converted country house on the outskirts of London. The system as a whole later became known as Ground-controlled interception (GCI). Dowding also introduced modern aircraft into service during the pre war period, including the eight gun Spitfire and Hurricane. He is also credited with having fought the Air Ministry so that fighter planes were equipped with bullet proof wind shields. He was promoted to air chief marshal on January 1st, 1937 and appointed a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order in January 1937.
At the time of his retirement in June 1939, Dowding was asked to stay on until March 1940 because of the tense international situation. He was again permitted to continue through the Battle of Britain, first until July and finally until November 1940. In 1940, Dowding, nicknamed "Stuffy" by his men for his alleged lack of humour, proved unwilling to sacrifice aircraft and pilots in the attempt to aid Allied troops during the Battle of France. He, along with his immediate superior Sir Cyril Newall, then Chief of the Air Staff, resisted repeated requests from Winston Churchill to weaken the home defence by sending precious squadrons to France. When the Allied resistance in France collapsed, he worked closely with Air Vice-Marshal Keith Park, the commander of 11 Fighter Group, in organising cover for the evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force at Dunkirk. Through the summer and autumn of 1940 in the Battle of Britain, Dowding's Fighter Command resisted the attacks of the Luftwaffe. Beyond the critical importance of the overall system of integrated air defence which he had developed for Fighter Command, his major contribution was to marshal resources behind the scenes (including replacement aircraft and air crew) and to maintain a significant fighter reserve, while leaving his subordinate commanders' hands largely free to run the battle in detail. Dowding was known for his humility and great sincerity. Fighter Command pilots came to characterise Dowding as one who cared for his men and had their best interests at heart. Dowding often referred to his "dear fighter boys" as his "chicks": indeed his son Derek was one of them. Because of his brilliant detailed preparation of Britain's air defences for the German assault, and his prudent management of his resources during the battle, Dowding is today generally given the credit for Britain's victory in the Battle of Britain.
Dowding's subsequent downfall has been attributed by some to his singlemindedness and perceived lack of diplomacy and political savoir faire in dealing with intra-RAF challenges and intrigues, most obviously the still, even now, hotly debated Big Wing controversy in which a number of senior and active service officers had argued in favour of large set-piece air battles with the Luftwaffe as an alternative to Dowding's successful Fabian strategy. Another reason often cited for his removal, but characterised by some contemporary commentators more as a pretext, was the difficulty of countering German nighttime bombing raids on British cities. Dowding himself showed that he had a good grasp of night fighter defence and was planning a defence system against night bombing in a letter he wrote some time after the Battle of Britain. However, there was great political and public pressure during the Blitz for something to be done, and Fighter Command's existing resources without, as yet, airborne radar, proved woefully inadequate. Dowding was advanced to Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath in October 1940. He unwillingly relinquished command on November 24th, 1940 and was replaced by Big Wing advocate Sholto Douglas. Churchill tried to soften the blow by putting him in charge of the British Air Mission to the US, responsible for the procurement of new aircraft types. After leaving Fighter Command, Dowding was sent on special duty to the United States for the Ministry of Aircraft Production, but there he made himself unpopular with his outspokenness. On his return he headed a study into economies of RAF manpower before retiring from the Royal Air Force in July 1942. He was elevated to the peerage, as Baron Dowding of Bentley Priory on June 2nd, 1943.
Later in life, because of his belief that he was unjustly treated by the RAF, Dowding became increasingly bitter. He approved Robert Wright's book Dowding and the Battle of Britain which argued that a conspiracy of Big Wing proponents, had engineered his sacking from Fighter Command. In the wake of the debate that followed, the RAF passed him over for promotion to Marshal of the Royal Air Force. In his retirement, Dowding became actively interested in Spiritualism, both as a writer and speaker. His first book on the subject, Many Mansions, was written in 1943, followed by Lychgate (1945), The Dark Star and God's Magic. Rejecting conventional Christianity, he joined the Theosophical Society which advocated belief in reincarnation. He wrote of meeting dead "RAF boys" in his sleep – spirits who flew fighters from mountain-top runways made of light. In 1951, Dowding laid the foundation stone of the Chapel of St George at RAF Biggin Hill, now London Biggin Hill Airport, in memory of fallen airmen. Dowding and his second wife Baroness Dowding were both anti-vivisectionists and in 1973 Britain's National Anti-Vivisection Society founded the Lord Dowding Fund for Humane Research in his honour. Dowding became a vegetarian, based on his beliefs as a theosophist and spiritualist. Although he was a vegetarian, he believed that "animals will be killed to satisfy human needs for many a long day to come", and he made several appeals in the House of Lords for the humane killing of animals intended for food. He was also a member of the Fairy Investigation Society. Although he knew that people considered him a crank for his belief in fairies, Dowding believed that fairies "are essential to the growth of plants and the welfare of the vegetable kingdom". Dowding died at his home in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, on February 15th, 1970 at the age of 87. His body was cremated and its ashes were placed below the Battle of Britain Memorial Window in the Royal Air Force chapel in Westminster Abbey. Dowding's son Derek inherited his titles.
TMA Statements In Chronological Order
But, not by when the events happened, by the order when the Statements were entered to the Institute. Because that wasn’t on the wiki timeline.
Below the cut because i’m not a monster.
MJJNEWS, PICKING -UP- WHERE WE LEFT OFF…
MICHAEL JACKSON – 2020 YEAR IN REVIEW
January 1, 2021
If someone had told you at the beginning of 2020 that the year was going to be spent mostly at home and online, you’d probably have laughed it off. However, in arguably the most challenging year of our lifetime, that’s exactly what happened. Thankfully, we’re fans of the King of Pop and that means that no matter where you are in the world, you’re part of an active community that engages fans and always finds ways to celebrate no matter how challenging.
So, before we turn the page to 2021, Here is MJVibe’s top picks for Michael Jackson 2020 – Year in Review!
Thriller appears in the Top 10 vinyl sales of the decade in the United States at number 6, having sold 334,000 copies between 2010 and 2019. In 2019 alone, 88,000 copies of Thriller on vinyl were sold across the U.S.
A pair of Louboutins designed exclusively for Michael to wear during ‘This Is It’ go on display in Paris France at the Palais de la Porte Dorée as part of an exhibition focusing on the world-famous designer Christian Louboutins. The sparkly shoes offer a subtle nod to Michael’s Triumph/Off The Wall look and were displayed as if Moonwalking.
- Bad in Wembley and Dangerous Live in Bucharest are once again made available for streaming on YouTube through Michael’s official channel in an effort to encourage the ‘stay home’ order given to countries around the world.
- After 11 years at the Lyric Theater, Thriller Live closes its doors for the final time. The show had been scheduled to complete on April 26th 2020 and leave the Lyric to find a new home. However, the UK-wide lock down as a result of the pandemic saw the show close earlier than planned.
- The MJ Estate donated $300,000 to Corona Virus relief efforts in Michael’s name. Broadway Cares, Three Square Food Bank (Southern Nevada’s largest hunger-relief organization) and MusicCares each received a $100,000 donation.
The Estate release ‘Heal The World 2020’, a new short film to accompany Michael’s 1992 hit of the same name. The film focused on the Covid-19 pandemic and was produced to unite Michael’s fans virtually during an almost global lock down.
In response to the release, fans ensured ‘Healtheworld2020’ trended two weekends consecutively. As of December 2020, the short film has 4.3 million views on YouTube.
- As a result of the pandemic, MJ The Musical’s debut is once again delayed to September 2021. Originally planned to open in Chicago in the Summer of 2019, the launch was cancelled with a plan to head straight to Broadway in early 2020. After three rescheduled dates, the decision was made to push to September 2021.
- Michael dominates Smooth Radio’s All-Time Top 500 Songs with the most entries by a solo artist. With 20 entries, Billie Jean and Man In The Mirror placed inside the Top 10, with George Michael being the only other artist to do so. Averaging four million listeners a week, Smooth Radio removed Michael from rotation in 2019, however, this poll as voted by the public, ensured Michael returned to the station’s regular playlist. #MUTEWHO?!
- HIStory turns 25 and while fans around the world mark the album’s monumental status and timeless appeal, the Estate chose to release apparel and a badge set, which mostly amounted to, what some fans considered an overpriced, bad quality, poorly designed, late delivered collection.
Judge for yourself, Ilia Mizani and Pez Jax sat down to review some of the products here.
- Marking the 25th Anniversary of the album, the HIStory teaser is added to YouTube where it has since been viewed 1.5 million times via Michael’s official channel.
- It’s been over 50 years since the Jackson 5 performed on the Ed Sullivan show. As part of a full library upload, the performances are restored and uploaded to YouTube for future generations to enjoy. You can watch the iconic performances here!
- Sixteen11 Media Group announces the release of a new book titled, ‘The Story of HIStory’ by Pez Jax. The book charts the creation and release of HIStory and marks 25 years of the album’s release. Including interviews with many people who worked on the album and short films, Jax called upon HIStory Statue sculptor Diana Walczak to help create the cover of the book. By the end of 2020, the book was released in special gold hardback and has been shipped to over 30 countries around the world. Several of Michael’s items from the era were placed on auction through Julien’s Auctions. Taking place from the 15th – 19th of June, listings included the three Olodum outfits worn by Michael in ‘They Don’t Care About Us’, the black trench coat from Stranger In Moscow and the handwritten lyrics to D.S.
- Author Damien Shields releases ‘The Genesis of Thriller’, a special audio documentary that takes listeners into the studio to discover how the world’s biggest-selling album was made. HIGHLY Recommended!
You can listen to this insightful audio documentary here!
- SiriusXM launches ‘The Michael Jackson Channel’, a radio station playing nothing but Michael Jackson music for a strictly limited time. The station also featured a special playlist titled ‘The Now More Than Ever King of Pop Playlist’.
- UK Nationwide Radio Station ‘Smooth Radio’ host their annual ‘Top 100’ poll to find out who the number one Icon is, according to listeners. With an overwhelming number of votes, Michael comes in at Number one.
- Following global demonstrations in relation to the killing of George Floyd at the hands of police, Spike Lee teamed up with the Estate to release a new version of ‘They Don’t Care About Us’ for 2020. Mixing together both the Brazilian and Prison versions of the short film, Lee also incorporated footage from demonstrations around the world, which once again proved just how timeless Michael’s music is when used as the backdrop to current affairs.
Watch it here!
youtube
- Chinese fans celebrate Michael’s 62nd Birthday with the unveiling of 10 statues across the country. Created by MJJCN, the statues were installed in prominent locations including Nanning and Beijing and serve as a wonderful dedication to Michael.
‘Loving Neverland’ is released on YouTube as a five-hour compilation of footage and information that details Michael’s life, challenges and career in great detail. Compiled by fans Nandita Raghav and Deboleena Aich, Loving Neverland serves as a powerful reminder to what Michael experienced for anyone looking to understand who he was. You can watch it here!
youtube
- Finally, and after many years of asking, the Estate decided to do something with Michael Jackson’s Ghosts, announcing it would be free to stream on YouTube from 29th October until the 1st of November. To mark the Halloween period, which Michael ultimately rules, the mini-movie was uploaded in better quality than the previous uploads.
- Walmart release a limited edition 2x colored vinyl of the Jackson 5 greatest hits album ‘The Ultimate Collection’. Available only in the U.S, the album was issued through Universal Music.
- In what’s almost yearly fashion, more of Michael’s personal items were placed up for auction including the 2006 Japan VMAs jacket that marked Michael’s first official red-carpet appearance since his 2005 trial.
Also on auction were platinum record awards, signed items, photographs, drawings and a glove.
- Cirque-Du-Soleil announced that despite being closed for most of 2020 due to the pandemic, Michael Jackson ONE is one of five Las Vegas residency shows to receive a contract extension. Originally signed as a 10-year with five years guaranteed at the Mandalay Bay, the show has been so popular that both Cirque and Mandalay want to keep it going past its 2023 end date. The new end date on the contract extension has not been announced.
- On November 16th, the legendary Bruce Swedien passed away. Having worked with Michael as Engineer on all his Epic solo albums up to Invincible, Swedien continued working in the industry up until his passing and became an inspiration to many upcoming producers and engineers. Rest in Peace Bruce!
- Michael once again topped Forbes list of the Highest-Paid Dead Celebrity. Coming in at number one with $48 million earned, he beat Dr Seuss who came in second position with $33 million. FYI, Elvis came in 5th.
- To cap off another year of insightful interviews and important documentation, the MJCast episode 126 was a special featuring TJ Jackson. TJ speaks about growing up a Jackson, working with Michael and how the last few years of negativity have affected his family. You can listen to this deeply personal episode here!
- On Christmas Eve it was announced that Neverland ranch had officially been sold. Purchased for just $22 million by Billionaire Ron Burkle, the final price was a huge reduction from the overzealous $100 million asking price when the property was first put onto the market. However, there is hope as Burkle was a former business associate and friend to Michael, so while it may not be a ‘Michael Jackson Memorial’, it will hopefully be treated with the respect and history it deserves.
As we begin 2021 with hope and optimism, it may take a while before we can all be back with our favorite MJ friends; throwing down dance moves on his birthday and lighting candles on his anniversary. However, with the 30th Anniversary of Dangerous and the 20th Anniversary of Invincible at the tail end of the year, it’s likely we can look forward to some exciting coverage from a variety of different places and hopefully some more chart-topping achievements throughout the year.
On August 20th, body of Lighthouse Keeper Asim Rawlings was found in his bed in St. Bartholomew Island. His body appeared to have been mauled, and his death has been placed shortly around the time the body was found. The lighthouse was still in full operation when the body was discovered by a local postman at 7:45 AM, and his every belonging in place, as though nothing had been moved nor touched. Investigators claim some claw marks found on the headboard and wooden walls of Rawling’s home strongly indicate the attack was made by a wild animal, possibly a wolf. Rawling’s body was slashed across the abdomen and stomach, and there were bite marks on his legs. One arm was also cut off, apparently bitten by large fangs.
Investigators have not divulged on the details, but residents of St. Bartholomew are shocked by this event. Most claim to have never seen a wolf on the island, and such an event has never happened.
An ongoing investigation is being led.
Police has recently released new information regarding Mr. Rawling’s death, claiming a person was sighted at the lighthouse minutes before his body was found, possibly a woman. Postman Toby Acevedo claimed a figure in ragged jeans and oversized blue sweater stood at the doorway just minutes before he went inside. Mr. Acevedo, who paid no attention to the figure, leaned over to the passenger’s seat, where his bag with mail rested, but turning his head back, he claimed the figure was not there anymore. According to Mr. Acevedo, the figure had ‘long, black hair and a curvy body I’d say resembles more a woman than a man’, but police remain unsure on the identity of this person.
No further evidence has been found. Mr. Rawling’s belongings were untouched, his house clean, and there were no signs of forced entry.
Further examination on Mr. Rawling’s body brings forth new evidence. Police claim there was saliva found on his wound and hair was collected from his torn clothes, but have added no further comment on the matter.
Rumours, however, have begun to surface regarding these findings. Locals believe the saliva is not animal, but human, and the hair found on Mr. Rawling’s clothes does not belong to a wolf, but rather a single strand of long black hair resembling that of possibly a woman’s.
Residents of St. Bartholomew Island refuse to further comment on the situation, but remain bent on one thing: that the attack was led by a human and not an animal, something the police has thoroughly dismissed.
Last Saturday, Police released a sketch of a possible suspect, according to Mr. Acevedo’s account on the woman found at Mr. Asim’s doorstep shortly before finding his body. Sketch shows a woman with long black hairs and an oversized blue sweater, and... and... there were eyes, weren’t there? I think there were. I remember seeing eyes.
Residents of St. Bartholomew Island, however, have claimed the sketch is false. They say the mouth is not quite like that, because it is missing its fangs.
She had eyed. She had eyes, once. But none of us can remember the eyes. They aired the image on TV and we all saw it, but the screen flickered and it just vanished from all our minds. We published the sketch, but now it’s all blurry and fuzzy, and all there is to her sockets is just... two engulfing black holes.
But she must have had eyes.
Can you see the eyes? Can you see her eyes?
All we can remember is... the mouth.
In recent developments regarding the case of Mr. Rawling’s death, Toby Acevedo was recently arrested on accounts of cannibalism. The postman was seen wandering the island of St. Bartholomew with bloodied clothes and jaw, and a piece of torn skin held in his hand, until he seemingly stopped at a gas station where witness Anaya Haines called the police. Mr. Acevedo was apprehended shortly after.
Ms Haines, as well as other eyewitnesses, claims Mr. Acevedo appeared to be in ‘a catatonic state’ and unable to properly convey a cohesive phrase. In fact, for the fifteen minutes between the call and the arrival of the police, all Mr. Acevedo muttered was a strange rhyme belonging to the island’s folklore. None of the eyewitnesses were willing to comment on it.
Strangest of all, according to lead investigators, every time Mr. Acevedo spoke the rhyme, those around him covered their ears or screamed in order not to listen to his words. One bystander claimed ‘Do not listen, that is how the angler’s wife will get you.’ Police has dismissed this as superstition.
A search conducted in Mr. Acevedo’s home within the same night revealed the mauled body of Mr. Acevedo’s wife. Her left arm had been chopped off below the elbow, and her left leg as well below the knee. There was no evidence of an attempt at cooking the meat, but rather, that Mr. Acevedo ate his wife’s flesh raw.
Stranger still is the fact that Mr. Acevedo had set the table for two.
None of us still remember the eyes, however. Or what she looked like at all.
Blood tests on Mr. Acevedo’s wife have revealed she was not drugged or incapacitated in any form. In fact, coroner’s examination seems to lead to the belief that Mrs. Acevedo was alive when her limbs were cut off, however there seems to be no evidence of a fight or any signs of resistance. It appears Mrs. Acevedo willingly allowed her husband to eat her flesh while alive. She died of bloodloss.
Police has questioned Mr. Acevedo, but the postman remains in a catatonic state. What little sanity there is to Mr. Acevedo, as well as what little he has revealed, comes in the form of the strange rhyme muttered by him on the night of the killing, as well as something else:
ᴵᵗ'ˢ ⁿᵒᵗ ᵗʰᵉ ᵉʸᵉˢ, ⁱᵗ'ˢ ᵗʰᵉ ᵐᵒᵘᵗʰ
No further evidence has been released.
Do you feel that? Do you feel that... itch beneath your skin? Do you feel that soft tingle beneath the fingernail? Like someone is poking a needle.
‘Knock knock’, she says. You can’t but invite her inside. You cannot see her eyes, they are not there, they were never there, just two black holes waiting to be filled. ‘I was once an angler,’ she says, ‘and his wife, and his fish, and his son, and his flesh, and his voice.’
Look at your arm. It has gone missing. Your stomach is growing and growling. How hungry you are. See the bulbing flesh beneath your skin and the pulsating red slithering down the white bone and the yellowish marrow---are you hungry?
Oh, she is.
The last chapter in SF
Jan 25th, 2020.
An Introduction.
In 2017, Jess was introduced to our quiet, oversized, and mainstream lives... Little did we know, that everything was about to change. The winds swirled overhead as she landed and within a couple weeks our loud, mini, hippie-witch-grandma-babe became ingrained in our lives!
Coming in hot with a list of must-see, -try, -listen, -taste, -climb items for SF, Jess managed to keep us busy trying new things and living our best fun-sized life.
In honor of one chapter coming to a close (and another very exciting one just beginning!!), we want to take a look back at some of the beautiful moments you’ve helped us create! Thank you for being a part of our lives in San Francisco, and we are so excited and proud of you for making big moves across the seas in New Zealand! Don’t forget us and please come back to re-visit your San Francisco community soon 😻
Love,
Everyone
2017
Let’s take a walk down memory lane back to 2017...
Enter 2017… when some of us all met Jess Tilles for first time. Something we may be too old to do but in our early 20s we were able to stick through 9 hours of drinking. Santa Con was the day into the night we were all obliterated… but Santas and mistletoe and FUN! We all look very youthful, oh what a few years in SF has done to our age. It was also one of the first and last times we all decided to go out in the Marina, and then proceed to eat Italian Homemade food. The beginning of an era!
Meanwhile at work... Jess quickly becomes a driving force of work parties with Holmes (and Eva and Jess discover they are both proponents of Bell sleeves). Of course Jess=where the party @ after having met most of the team at a highly questionable night tearing up the Castro prior Olga’s birthday.
Celebrating big moves to the bay, Jess, Shiri, and Leeza united in the gorgeous SF winter on Hattie St Balcony (a local’s hidden gem). It was then that Leeza and Jess instantly realized they were meant to meet and pursue all the best indie-folk-hippie music together. The rest of the concert saga is history!
2018
March 2018
Jess and Leron feeling lucky on St. Patty’s day by wearing all black and going against the mainstream in classic Jess fashion.
April 2018
Jess and Eva jamtfo to Penguin Prison at at their favorite SF venue, The Independent on Eva’s bday. They groove from the front row where Jess has zero obstacles blocking her line of site. Eva gets to hold the gee-tar.
Parisa's first day in SF! A messy deep dish experience could only be ended with a super fun barcade.
August 2018
For many of us, it was our very first overnight backpacking trip that hot summer weekend in July. Leeza had on the heaviest pack and powered ahead of the group (per usual), while the rest of us fumbled behind. We all kept enthusiasm high and it was a glorious moment when we 1) dipped into the freezing cold water at the end of day one and 2) when we finally took our packs, shoes and socks off at the end of the hike, and we all agreed that we would not do that trail again if someone paid us a million fat ones. Such a memorable trip- it was a great shared bonding experience for us to be out exploring in nature, and struggling together but ultimately powering through. Caroline was peeing every 20 minutes of the hike as usual, Leron was making interesting jokes and Shiri and Jess kept our spirits high!
Jess has her first grown woman trip to LA with Eva. They stay in Sunset Junction (Micheltorena stairs pictured) and have a romantic werk wife stay at the legendary Casa Crawford Airbnb, where their room doesn’t lock and they share a bathroom with the elderly spooky owner. Highlights include swan boating on Echo Park Lake, yoga at Equinox, eating at Mh Zh and Sqirl, unwinding at Wi Spa, crashing a mansion party in the Hollywood hills, and celebrating Lauren’s 30th birthday. Jess also very much enjoys catching up with a friend in Venice Beach.
In spring 2018, Jess made moves in the city to make friends and become ~sporty~ with Shiri in the Play Recess league. Striking the perfect balance between minimal coordination and slap-cup, we learned to destroy the competition in what really counts! Culminating in an ultimate scavenger hunt debacle, Spinelli led the group to victory! (Not actually sure if we completed the scavenger, but the memories we do have were definitely winners :) ).
October 2018
Halloweenies with our favorite Grandmama. Photographed left to right: Grandmama (Jess), Wednesday (Caroline), thing (Cole), Gomez (Leron), Morticia (Shiri), Lurch (Jack) and Pugsley (Jacob)
In the spooky month of October 2019, the Fulton Fam got together to throw our first rager - an extravagant Addams family party. Thanks to the creative inspiration of the group, we were able to pull off some spooky vibes, including spider webs, grey hair, ridiculous mustaches, and more.
Late 2018 marked the beginning of the Fulton house era- too many nights sitting around watching Fort Night, debating Zinc in double-blind tests, and hundreds more conversations that none of us can remember… We will never forget the eclectic energy Jess brought into the Fulton house. The large batches of pasta & pesto she cooked and the lotions & soaps she brewed up. Brew hahah. As the first alumnus of the Fulton house, Jess has since ventured out to #adult in her 2 bedroom apartment in Nob Hill.
Before Jess left us, we had one last BirthRight hoorah with Jacob’s new friends. There was a peculiar guy making brisket in our oven, and handing samples around like a Costco on a Saturday afternoon. Shiri infamously used her photoshop skills to crop the beloved Leron Gil into the house party he missed. Good times!
December 2018
How could we forget the numerous ski trips in 2019 with Jess? There were so many weekends bopping around down the slopes in Heavenly, Kirkwood and North Star. On this specific photographed trip, Jess and Caroline celebrated their birthdays with a weekend getaway to Northstar. Too much Secret Hitler was played. Things got wild. Other board games were forced upon us (lol). But looking back it was a great time hanging with friends, drinking champagne on the mountain and blasting some groovy tunes down the mountain.
Over the holidays, Chinese food is a tradition… a very delicious meal at Koi Palace! While living in Fulton, there was a 2 month hiatus where just Jess, Caroline and Jacob occupied the house. Some like to call that period of time “the cleanest time of Fulton”, others call bullshit. The three bonded over diverging political opinions, bitching about who never cleaned their dishes and doing korean face masks.
2019
January 2019
Ringing in the New 2019 Year in San Francisco with a large group of our friends was quite the experience! Great to celebrate together together at the boom boom room with some live music (but also not great that the window got smashed 😂)
One of Jess’s many ascents at Mission Cliffs! Go Jess send it!
Only Jess and her gleaming charisma could rally coworkers to see a concert AND have work pay for our HH drinks (thanks for the sus hand-written receipt for expensing, @Madrone Art Bar). We saw her beloved Magic City Hippies at The Independent which was funky and upbeat Miami vibes all around. Also pictured are Mary and Georgine who are/soon working in New Zealand as well.
February 2019
Always remember the earplugs! Jess knows how to concert.
March 2019
Soccer moms go to Warby Parker. Epic picture and times of Jess with the Fulton boys.
April 2019
A new(ish) face joined the Holmes Fire SF team- finally Jess and Irene’s LDR was over! This was our first team building activity as a new group and with Jess in charge of course we ended up climbing!
Celebrating Eva’s Birthday with a fun rooftop HH at El Teco on a sunny spring day!
Jess, Eva and Irene order frozen pina coladas and take in the views before a Mission bar crawl of sorts, closing nice and early with burritos from El Farolito.
May 2019
Hanging out at the top of the SalesForce tower. Pro tip, bring a structural engineer for some great commentary.
Bay to Breakers with team eggs and team hippies (aka Jess’s typical aesthetic)!
Always discussing the most important topics at work- like water bottle sticker placement! #bigdecisions
July 2019
One of the best Holmes site visits ever!!
Jess and Eva drive up North for a wine country getaway they won a while back at a silent auction. En route they plow through La Croix cans, have a rad lunch in Sebastopol and dip their feet in the picturesque Russian River. Early evening, they taste and tour facilities at Moshin Vineyards in Forestville (shout outs to that delightfully dry pinot noir rosé) before stargazing (ft. skunk!) and cozying up in a cabin suite with the movie Sideways. The next day, they have a beautiful morning walk by the vineyards. By way of Jess’ parents, they land in Ronald McDonald’s home for a private tasting. Jess learns she loves fruit-forward wines!
September 2019
The second infamous backpacking trip! **GIRLS TRIP**!!!! The time we thought it’d be smart to not get camping food and cook kraft mac and cheese with no microwave. What it came out to be was a big bowl of cheese goop, with Ella, Anna, Olaf and unicorn characters drowned in there. A big SHOUTOUT to Marie for pulling through with the fancy face creams and sharing with the group, us talking about waxing *ahem* body parts and again, Leeza leading the charge with Foxy! At night, we laid out on the benches and stared up at the stars - the night was so clear! We couldn’t stop laughing over things I can no longer remember… except about discovering the world was indeed not flat. Once again, Caroline likely peed 20 times total, and was coughing and heaving (sorry for being sick!) 😅
Jess and Eva get weird in Portland! Where they sip rooftop beers, frolick in the Nike HQ ( a mass timber wonderland), meet Big Foot and Krampus, procure free passes to a saucy community event, dance to 80s music at a goth bar/visit crusty dive bars, have a prime strawberry cough (and beanie) experience @ Electric Lettuce, savor prime Bamboo sushi, and Jess gets a cute ass tragus piercing. Throughout the trip Jess wears a lot of black to Eva’s delight #moody #angsty. On their walks to the Portland office, Jess appreciates the changing fall leaves and residential neighborhoods, feeling reminded of home on the East Coast.
Just another amazing Jill Hike ;)
October 2019
OK - San Francisco was filled with challenges… and Tough Mudder was one of them! Although we found out that at the end of the race - you would be electrocuted - we persisted. We - as a team - got through to the finish line. So proud of everyone for completing the race! Although Caroline was the only one who copped out of electric shock. The number of times we dunked into mud baths and climbed 10 ft walls…
Jess’s favorite time of the year and a visit from Tariq! Jess and Eva decorated the whole office to look super ~spooky~ON ANOTHER LEVEL (featuring creepy clown photos, hella cobwebs and caution tape, bloody stickers, and of course fake plastic bugs) and organized a halloween bar crawl around North Beach (@ Maggie McGarrie’s and Tupelo)!
November 2019
A big fan of live music, Jess is a great Concert buddy. Always down to explore new music and venues! This was such a fun bonding night where we got greyhounds, beers, caught up on life and danced at Polo & Pan. So fun!
Proxima Parada at Milk Bar birthday concert where Jess got a shout-out from the band! ft. a blurry instagram story and classic typos. Prior, the whole squad turns up at Hobson’s Choice over punch bowls.
HP marathon or studying for PE? Well! let's master both!
December 2019
One of the best days in December was unexpected. It started out with a simple brunch plan but ended in a full day of activities!! New spot on polk was where Jess and Maries’ friendship began and continued to blossom!
After having an amazing meal (great eggs benedict) and hours of catching up we decided to walk back to our houses together (since we are neighbors!!). Jess was excited to see Marie’s new couch (that was 50% off hehe) and decided to come over. Kap, Jess and Marie did a long (super difficult) puzzle (connected a few pieces) and watched netflix. We order Thai food (Kap ordered us cookies) and we relaxed all day. It was a special day where the three of us reminisced about San Francisco and all of our time here. It was a day no one wanted to end!!
Holmes Holiday Party- Jess’s favorite drink was the beet cocktail 😉
Cozy three course italian dinner with wine at 3pm! Best part of the afternoon was my hot date, Jess ;)
Jess and her neighborhood park (shoutout to nob hill, the real MVP) winning Shiri over with its views on views.
January 2019
On one of Jess’s final few Tahoe ski weekends, she SENT IT down a black diamond on her first weekend back of the season. Harrison found a great photo opp for Jess, Marie and Caroline against the Xtreme advanced only sign. The weekend was filled with playing Mafia, jamming to tunes down the slope, exploring Squaw valley, having some nice Apres Ski, and getting fed some good, slow-cooked food (haha!).
[JESS, INSERT YOUR PHOTOS FROM THE LAST WEEKEND IN SF!!!]
NOTES FROM YOUR BIFFLES TO SEND YOU OFF <3
Dear Jess,
Thank you for entering into my life and being saggitarius soulmates. I love that we are on the same page about so many things - planning, me-time, boys (kinda), beards, skiing, tardiness, traveling, being avoidant, being wholesome and SO MUCH MORE. I’m so happy we bonded over the last couple years we’ve known each other. I miss all the times I would knock on your door and catch up while you marie kondo-d your entire closet. Thank you for pushing me in new and different ways which you may not have realized (like forcing me to vote) and inspiring me to do good with the environment (hehe).
You are kind-hearted, loyal, so brave and bold and I’m so proud of you for going out on this adventure to New Zealand!! I will miss you lots in San Francisco and miss the ridiculous random shit we would laugh at during out ski trips or cooking or when we could catch up at home. Thank you for always listening whenever I felt like blabbing on and helping keep me grounded. So excited to visit New Zealand and can’t wait to explore! Plz don’t forget all the great memz we had in SF!!
Love you lots XOXO
Caroline
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jess!!! We have done it all together and now we can add New Zealand to that list too! I’m so glad that we got to overlap in SF and I had you here to show me to ropes. I can’t wait to follow your kiwi adventures and see all the fun things you do.
Love you lots!!
Xoxo
Irene
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JESSICA. My favorite small person to kiss on the head. I am so glad we could bond over our love of funky music and skiing. I’ll always be here to make sure you don’t look like an egg on the ski slopes and can’t wait to visit you and your Kiwi men soon. You are a sweet, funny, life of the party small person who’s going to find so much success and kiwi men in NZ. Love you so much, and may the yearly backpacking live on!
-Leez
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Jess, You are such a sweet soul that is thoughtful and cares about everyone around you. I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to meet ya (ty shiri!!) and get to know you over the last year and a half. I always have so much fun on our walks, breakfast dates, or ski trips (and so much more). I’m so extremely happy for you to be following your dreams (and a lil sad that we won’t be neighbors anymore). I can’t wait to come visit ya and enjoy more adventures together! Love ya, Marie!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jess - I love seeing how far we’ve come since our truss-ty mechanics class, traveling across the country and seeking out all the best from life! Although your soul belongs in a hippy world, I know you will find your people and place no matter where you land (just keep being YOU). New Zealand is lucky to be getting the tiniest force around. You will certainly be missed, but know that I’m just a WhatsApp message (or a quick flight!) away :). Excited for the tiny tourist travels ahead <3
Love, Shiri
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blonde Meets Brunette. Relatively Tall Meets Considerably Short. East Coast Meets West Coast. Engineering Major Meets Fine Arts Major. Happy Music Meets Sad Music. On paper we might come across as opposites, but internally and emotionally I am so grateful for the rich grey areas and nuances we’ve discovered that we contain. The odds were slim for us to cross paths in this big ol’ universe,and I’m so grateful we found each other to help tame and ground the ups and downs of being-in-your-twenties. You have been a guiding, real, and empowering force since Day 1, and you’ve taught me so much. I can’t wait to see all you accomplish in this new chapter and far beyond! ALL the love to the best work wife there ever was.
Eva Slusser
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yo,
Glad we have been able to go on a bunch of snowy adventures. Look forward to visiting your weird kiwi fire life sometime and I'm sorry I always assumed you were the mafia.
-Dave
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jess,
It was great getting to know you even if it was only for a short amount of time. Will always remember you bombing it down that double black diamond at squaw, the hike in Berkeley, and the constant disapproving looks sent my way.
GO PRO CAPTURE
- H
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jess!! Thank you for being the kindest soul your are. I enjoyed every bits and pieces of our friendship from Stas' lab to smoke control class to getting to bond more here in SF.
Can't wait to follow the tiny tourist adventures through this new kiwi chapter. Auckland is lucky to have you!
Love you and see you soon!
Parisa
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This post serves as written confirmation that I have previously stated thank you and please and no longer require these societal norms to be restated. Once I see you in New Zealand, reside in your dwelling and depart back to San Francisco, I will not provide a thank you note. I expect the same from you.
See you soon,
Leron
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jess - We will miss you, but having a friend leave SF is easier when you know theres great adventures ahead for them. I’m excited for all your NZ adventures, and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous. Keep us in the loop and I look forward to seeing you in the future.
