Loki: …
Y/N: *raises an eyebrow skeptically* ... why are you being so quiet?
Loki: *failing to sound convincing* Well… I'm pregnant.
Y/N: *raises eyebrow higher* No, you're not... What did you do?
Loki: I may or may have not… gotten a kitten…
Y/N: Whut?
Loki: *brings out a rather weird looking kitten*
Y/N: *slightly shock but unsurprised* Is… is that a Flerken?
Loki: *is grinning like an idiot* It's a kitten.
Y/N: *realization hits him* oh my fucking Hel, that's a Flerken. Where did You find A bloody Flerken?
Loki: *insistent* IT'S A KITTEN ~
Y/N: *useless reasoning* It literally has tentacles! It’s stomach is basically a bag of holding!
*A couple seconds of Silence*
Loki: *starting to grin again* We gonna keep it tho, yeah?
Y/N: *now grinning too* Don’t know, why you even ask. Heck yeah we gonna keep it.
Loki: And we’re gonna name it Hannibal.

I’m so blessed to meet this little lady, the first of my 7 cecropia caterpillars from last summer to emerge. I wasn’t counting on her to come so early! I’m hoping to find her a mate, but I don’t know how good her odds are in this neck of the woods. I found her mother in the suburbs about 5-7 miles from here, so I don’t know how many cecropia find their way close to the urban (but still residential) core.
For those wondering: she is every bit as soft as she looks and she sounds like a bird when she beats her wings. Also she has a strong smell; kinda like musty chocolate and old leaves.
If I am fortunate to get fertilized eggs out of this group, I would love to raise the next generation of caterpillars. They have brought me so much joy and I missed them so much during their long pupation.

• Bitch, you feel a fever and you let him shrug it off? I thought he was a public favourite to discuss. Yeah, he can do what he does, but you knew him pre-this and don't realize his mental struggles have gotten worse, and now he's running a temperature. Friend of the fucking year, Alana Bloom. 🤦‍♀️
• I saw that! "He won't come after me. It would be rude." Wow, that's such a great connect!
• Really? A reporter? That's who you'd reach for when you don't know who you are?

I've been listening to "Goodbye horses" by Q Lazzarus today so OF COURSE I had to think about the Buffalo Bill's dance scene in "The Silence of the Lambs" so OF COURSE I had to spend at least ten good minutes thinking about Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Starling so OF COURSE I had to go and watch the scene when they meet in jail so OF COURSE I had to remember when Hannah in SPN went to talk to Metatron in heaven's jail and he acted all Hannibal Lecter-y when, in fact, he was just Multiple Miggs (you know, the "white-hot spark" mentions and THAT scene in the movie which I won't mention but... you know). He wanted to have main character energy so BAD he looked pathetic, my god I love him.

okay i will say i like the directorial stylings of aj cook for a number of reasons (that precinct in salt lake city might be the last time anything looks even a bit warm this season….) but one is that i have very limited respect for any of the ways that the show has done visual references to the hannibal tetralogy, especially the silence of the lambs interrogation scenes in outfoxed (which made the rest of the episode look like a clown show but did have at least some tonal consistency with what prentiss was doing, at least until the lauren arc). and i do like that 17x02 is very obviously, i think, trying to avoid doing the precise shot-for-shot and beat-for-beat silence of the lambs homage that outfoxed did. i think in some ways it strenuously avoids it, particularly in how it treats the agents. this makes sense: there’s no reason to do the full clarice starling thing (the descent, for example; or the way that his imprisonment becomes hers, the bars shadowing her face— i don’t think there are that many very obvious shot-countershot parallels and i like that. aj cook’s much more about the bars as dividing here) for experienced agents.
