Poe Dameron x afab!reader
word count: 563
warning: single parents au. reader has a uterus. little angst somewhere in there but actually fluffy.
part2 - masterlist
“At first, I wasn’t sure if I should come here or not. Since I break the first rule of the club… Don’t bring your child!” she joked, holding her big belly “But honestly, I need all the support I can get because I’m kind of losing my mind thinking about the future of this baby.”
Everybody nodded sympathetically.
“I planned to be fully blunt about everything, so here it goes… I’m sure you are wondering about the father. The piece of shit cheated on me, so I dumped his ass. Who could have thought it would have some consequences?”
She clearly joked when she’s uncomfortable Poe thought, smiling a little. He remembered his first time at the single parents support group. He was definitely nervous, feeling like everybody was going to judge his every decision about Shara’s life, though he was ready to defend himself. Then the others got to talking and he was shocked to realize how common his experiences were. How every parent’s joy celebrated and understood. Every challenge a parent was struggling provided with some solution by the other, even though that caused arguments among the group sometimes. It was all constructive, so helpful and Poe was immensely grateful.
“How about you, Poe? How is it going in the Dameron household?”
Hearing his name, Poe shifted on his seat.
“Honestly, it’s been ruff. Shara’s mom is keep making new demands to extend the process. It's driving me crazy... and I think she does that to make me look bad but it’s not gonna work. She did kind of stuff when we were together too and now, she drags Shara into this mess too. I’m not going to let her do that. I’m over it. Not going to give her the attention she oh so desperately craves. I have to win this case and have my child to myself… Ah, but everything is good with Shara lately. She just learned how to jump rope at her school and of course demanded I buy her one so she can teach how to her friends at home... referring to her toys. A lot of jumping, falling and slapping her shins with the rope.”
Everybody chuckled to that and oof sound was also heard.
***
“So, we have something in common.”
Poe lifted his head from the cup he was filling.
“Douchebag ex partners.” The new woman said. Poe laughed a little.
“I guess we do.”
“Oh man, is that coffee? I would kill for some right now…”
“I thought you could have some, in moderation, no?”
“I went cold-turkey when I learned about the pregnancy because I have no self-discipline. If I have some now, I’ll come back and finish the whole thing.”
“I think going cold-turkey requires serious self-discipline.”
She smiled prettily to that and Poe felt his insides turn a little.
“How do you find the group so far?”
“It’s good, I like it here. Though I think I can’t be too picky, since not many would accept a pregnant lady as a single parent. Yet.”
“And that would be ridiculous. What kind of policy is that “no child, no support”? Anyways, I can’t recommend this group enough. We all are like friends here. They really helped me through out the years. I’m sure you will like them too.”
“You know I have a feeling I will enjoy this place.” She grinned, making him smile widely.

He spent the entire trip going over what little he’d been told, again and again. There had been an incident. Orpheus had been bullied. And another lad had (rightfully, the vicious, protective animal of his brain cried out!) punched the bully in question. He’d dealt with much the same mockery as a child–of course he had!
When two boys become fast friends, their fathers are tossed together by circumstances.
They stay together by choice.
Chapter 3 now up!

tell me abt the okujima single parent au 🥺
HEY SORRY YEAH HERES MORE
Makoto was so eager to impress Haru in the beginning. And always, really. But. Oh she was down bad right from the start
She's got like. Negative natural rizz and kept trying to flirt and it was so fucking painful. Stuff like "aha, wow nice weather. Kinda. Kinda like you"
"...Ms Niijima it's raining??"
Akira and Ren just had to watch their mom be cringefail and. Somehow she still got a date. And married. Damn.
Their first date is dinner at a pretty low-key neighborhood pub, and. Makoto was convinced it would be just a nervous first date but her sister insisted on watching the boys, taking them for Aunt Night
Makoto wears her nicest buttonup, charcoal, with black pants and a navy tie. She's embarrassed that she has to take her date on the bus, but Haru, in her lovely summer dress and pulled up hair, she uses it as an excuse to tuck right into her side
Haru is batting her eyelashes throughout the dinner, practically playing footsie under the table. The wait staff are confused cause. One of them heard Makoto ask Haru what her favourite flavor of cream cheese was. And then talk about why her favourite was garlic chive
You see anything could've happened on that date and Haru still would have intended to spend the night with Makoto. She's been down bad from the start too, so down bad she pushed herself through a very awkward encounter with her own daughter, trying to explain why she wasn't going to come home that evening
Haru: you'll be fine on your own tonight, right? I don't need to call your grandpa?
Kotone: mama? Aren't you just going on a date with that library lady? Why wouldn't you come home?
Haru: well. You see.
Kotone: ...YOURE GONNA DO THAT ON THE FIRST DATE?! MAMA?!
Haru decides, much later, so much so that it's nearly morning, that the result was worth that conversation.
Tae and Sae both adore Haru, and spoil Kotone as much as they do the twins. They're the dual income lesbian aunts bringing the gift reckoning. They're adored
Okay some more focus on the kids once they're more grown cause. I have stuff for them too
Kotone, of course, mega gay, in love with both Yukari and Mitsuru. Mitsuru confesses to both when she graduates, a year ahead of them. She says it's clear there's something between all three of them but with her leaving, that at least Yukari and Kotone should try. And if either still has a splinter of feelings for her by the next year, to join her at uni
She gets showered in kisses before she leaves, of course. As of either would ever lose interest in her, of all people. Mitsuru and Akihiko room together and it's very much Lesbian and Gay Man existing in barely functioning shared space
I hc that Mitsuru likes to physically separate her work from her relaxation. Aka she just. Strips when she gets home from class. Lounges in a bra and panties. Akihiko hates it.
Her next set of roommates. Are much more appreciative
Kotone and Yukari spend the year getting closer. They don't call it dating, wouldn't be right without their third. But. They kiss, and when they have sleepovers they share the bed, waking up cuddled together. But it's not datinf, they're not dating
Until they both move in with Mitsuru. All three, at uni together, in one apartment. Yukari is the big cuddler. Always starting contact randomly. Mitsuru is. For lack of a better term the horniest of the three, and Kotone. Is so full of love
Though it is a lot when she's curled up with Yukari and Mitsuru just starts. Kissing her neck all sensual
TIME FOR THE BOYS
So Ren as a teen is pretty quiet, calm. His ADHD meds get lowered, just a little. He's athletic, enjoys gymnastics actually. He's besties with Kasumi and Sumire, and he has a thing for track champ Ryuji. Ren's also really open with his feelings. So within a week Ryuji is his boyfriend
Ren also has glasses. He doesn't need them. It just keeps him from being confused for Akira
And. Well. Akira. Never lost his trouble maker genes, he's besties with Futaba and has the crafty mind of someone who always knows a little too much. He has a fact about everything, and his meds are at the max. He's reached the legal limit. Impulse control is not his strong suit
He's on debate team, and every week he has a battle of wits with Goro. Everyone else knows they're in love but them. Long story short, right after their final debate they end up in a closet making out. Nearly more but they get discovered
Makoto and Haru don't end up having a kid of "their own". They dont
...stop looking at me like that
I
...
Someone convince me out of adding the P4 group into this mess with another kid-

blanket octopus [988 words]
Will takes up an arts and crafts project after returning from Tartarus
February
you're not the only one who thinks they're falling in love [8,481 words]
Nico kept his eyes on the script, skimming over each of the lines as though to make sure Will hadn’t skipped over anything important - he hadn’t; he was flawless, as always. “Uh, good, yeah! I feel like you hit all of the beats, and the, uh, the emotion was all there. Obviously, it’ll be better in real blocking instead of just a line read, but-- Um, Reyna? Any notes?”
March
Should've Known That You've Been Dancing With a Wolf [4,040 words]
As the opening credits of some 80s horror movie played, Nico and Will got comfortable on Nico’s bed, pressed together from hip to shoulder as they shared a blanket and held a bowl of popcorn between their laps.
April
comparison is killing me slowly (i think i think too much) [2,643 words]
“Leo,” Nico hissed, and Will stepped back from the door a split second before Nico’s head snapped back to make sure Will hadn’t entered the room. “I thought we agreed that we wouldn’t celebrate our anniversary anymore - that’s not fair to Will.”
May (aka the month where i ONLY wrote no love au so my options were limited)
through all the times we've tried, I could never be what you needed of me (but I wish I was) [4,310 words]
“Who am I supposed to have dinner with?”

Before Nico and Will had left at the end of their week-long visit, Vernon had handed Nico a cattle rope in exchange for the promise that he would be "the best cattle roper those yankees have ever seen" by the time he returned. And Nico had been practicing.
[from the series farm to table au]
July
Three of Cups [15,793 words]
He knew that whoever had dropped off the coffee had also taken a seat across from him at the booth, though they hadn’t spoken a word - another mercy on his tired brain; they all knew how much any amount of social interaction drained him. It was only when the smell of coffee had woken him up enough that he could lift his head again and reach for the cup that the person across from him said a simple, “Good morning.”
August
I know what I should do, but I just can't walk away [45,188 words]
After the death of his husband, Nico tries to put his life back together with the help of his friends, his cat, and his TA for Biology 103.
September
i wish whoever just sprayed perfume on this enclosed train a very die [3,187 words]
Will had never seen a masseuse that was as attractive as his hot as fuck chiropractor.
October
Safe (better keep that thought to yourself) [34,270 words]
Nico figured he was probably overprepared, but it was better to be safe than sorry, especially when leaving his child with some guy he barely knew and a kid he’d never met.
God, he hoped Will wasn’t some kind of psychopath.
November
Nobody wants to be alone (but that is not why I want you) [4,049 words]
“Oh my god,” Will said, “babe, you can’t live like that!”
Nico flipped his camera back, smiling brightly at Will as he replied, “Then it’s a good thing I don’t live here anymore, huh?”
December
#OnBrand [1,289 words]
Something told him that he hadn’t just seen that conversation because he was missing Percy - and, seriously, he thought he was done dreaming about Percy when he started crushing on Will - and that same gut feeling had him thinking that he was running out of time.

Single Parents AU, part 2/prequel
For Rowan Week, Day 4: When Aelin is away. *nervous laughter* heh. Posting early bc why not? 🤭
Word count: 2,507
Warnings: I'm just going to hide now
Enjoy (?)
@rowaelinscourt
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey, babe." Rowan appeared from gods knew where, sliding his arm around Aelin's shoulders and almost making her jump out of her skin before she recognized her boyfriend.
"Holy gods!" she gasped, pressing one hand over her heart. "I think my blood pressure just spiked, Ro!"
"Sorry," he murmured into her hair, muffling his little snort of laughter.
"No you're not," she laughed, affectionately swatting his chest.
He smirked. "Nope!"
"Whyever do I put up with you?" she teased, leaning into his side as they headed down the hall towards their next class, one of the only two classes they shared this semester.
And gods, did they make the most out of their shared classes.
~
Classes over for the day, Aelin laced her fingers with Rowan's as the two of them headed out to the parking lot and dumped their backpacks in the backseat of his old SUV. Rowan, being the teenage gentleman that he was, held open the passenger door for her.
"Want food?" he grinned, very much knowing the answer.
"When do I not?" she laughed, stealing a kiss as he slipped into the driver's seat.
"Touché," he snorted. "I was more asking where you wanted to go, Fireheart."
She beamed. "Can we just go to your house, babe?"
"Huh?"
A little sheepishly, she flushed. "Well, I'm kind of broke and don't get paid until next week, and I've been craving some of Enna's savory scones, soooo..." She trailed off.
"And wouldn't you know, Mom just baked a fresh batch of bacon-cheddar scones," her boyfriend grinned, winking at her.
The brightest, most eager grin spread across Aelin's face. "Yay!"
"I swear," Rowan laughed, pulling onto the road, "you love food more than me, babe."
"I've been exposed!" she gasped dramatically, pretending to hide her face. "The truth is out!"
"I should have known," her boyfriend teased. He turned off into the residential streets and drove through the neighborhoods until he reached his street and parked in front of his house. There, he hopped out and ran around to the passenger side to open Aelin's door, insistent as always that he do those little things for her.
Damn, but it made her fall in love with him a little more each time.
As she walked into the Whitethorns' warm, inviting home, Aelin took a deep inhale, catching the scent of baking and beaming. "I smell scones!"
"My favorite poison tester!" Enna Whitethorn exclaimed, appearing from the living room to give her son's girlfriend a hug. "I wasn't expecting you two so soon."
"Mm, well, I got hungry," Aelin laughed.
"Naturally," Enna teased. "Well, you've come to the right place, my dear."
"No 'how was your day' for me?" Rowan pouted, grinning at his mother.
She flicked his nose. "Says the boy who told me two days ago that he's not going to eat sweets anymore because of some nonsense about training."
"No!" Aelin gasped dramatically, clutching her boyfriend's hands. "Say it isn't true!"
"Uh..." A blush bloomed on Rowan's cheeks. "Sorry, Fireheart."
"Traitor!" she exclaimed, pretending to faint in his arms. "I guess I'll just have to trick you into eating dessert, hmm?"
"Not when it's my favorite kind," he murmured into her ear, low enough that only she heard.
"Buzzard!" She swatted his chest, bright crimson flaring on her face.
Rowan smirked, trailing one hand down to her hip. "See, babe--"
"Not in my kitchen!" Enna interrupted, breaking the two apart before they could actually make any moves.
"Sorry," both of them mumbled, Aelin peeling off to go and snag two of Enna's freshly baked scones, a sigh of pure pleasure escaping her as she tasted the deliciously savory flavors.
Perhaps she made that sigh a little bit more explicit than strictly necessary.
From the way he nearly choked on his water, Rowan certainly noticed.
~
Rainy spring warmed into sunny early summer, and before anyone knew it, Aelin and Rowan and all their friends were turning in their last finals, picking up caps and gowns, and sitting through a long boring graduation rehearsal while the principal blathered on about protocol and other such banalities. They were days from graduating high school, surely they could all take in a simple list of instructions on what not to do and go from there.
"Hope they're at least getting paid for this," Rowan snickered when the class was finally released and he could sling his arm around Aelin as they walked towards his car.
She snorted. "Babe, it's their job, of course they're getting paid." She threw him a wink. "Probably by the word, if Arobitch's speech was any indication."
Her boyfriend roared with laughter, stopping in the middle of the parking lot to double over, hands on his thighs. "Holy fuck, Fireheart!" he gasped, wiping tears of merriment from his eyes. "Arobitch?!"
Giggling, she shrugged. "Fits, yeah?"
"Hell yeah." Arobynn Hamel, the principal of Orynth Central High, was notorious for his, well, bitchiness. And the way his eye roved over any girl with the slightest amount of skin exposed, but that was a different matter.
Aelin winked broadly. "I'm half-tempted to call him that in my speech, y'know, since we have to address the staff and all that." She was one of the three valedictorians, and each of them had to give a speech at the graduation ceremony.
"Please do," Rowan begged his girlfriend, beaming as he opened her door for her. "Please, Ae, it'd make my whole damn high school career."
"What career?" she snickered wickedly. "Having the whole cheer team wet dreaming about you?"
Once again, Rowan wheezed, his face flaming bright red. "NO!" he yelped. "Never!"
Aelin cackled, reaching over to pet her boyfriend's hair affectionately. "Lighten up, Ro, they know you're mine."
"And they know I'm not the kind of loose guy they want," he muttered, finally calming himself.
She pecked a kiss onto his cheek. "You're the best kind of guy, buzzard. The best."
If only she'd known then how quickly she would eat her words.
~
August seventeenth. The date still made Rowan's heart jolt painfully.
The day he'd told Aelin they would never last.
She knocked on his front door bright and early, beaming far too cheerfully for the ungodly hour of nine o'clock on a Friday. "Hey, buzzard."
"Hey, Fireheart," he mumbled, rubbing the sleepiness from his bleary eyes.
She chuckled and pecked a kiss onto his jaw. "I'll get you some coffee."
"Please," he begged, following her eagerly into his kitchen.
She grinned. "All right, calm down, Ro, I'm getting your caffeine all ready, I promise."
He grinned sleepily. "Love you."
"Love you more."
Properly caffeinated and somewhat more ready to face the day, Rowan led Aelin upstairs and let her survey his room, which was rather a mess of clothes and shoes and boxes and other stuff all over the floor and his bed. A little awkwardly, he scratched the back of his neck. "It's, uh...coming along?"
Aelin smothered her laughter, but a tiny little snort slipped out, her bright eyes twinkling. "Good gods above, Ro."
He laughed, banding his arms around her. "Go ahead and laugh at me, Ae, I know I'm a slob."
Her laughter pealed through the room. "You're not a slob, baby, you're just...disorganized?"
He smirked crookedly. "I know what that means, Fireheart."
She pinched his side. "And you're not complaining about it, are you?"
"I wouldn't dare."
"So polite." She threw him a wink as he walked to his closet and found a clean t-shirt and shorts, conveniently forgetting to put the shirt on as he dropped onto the floor next to her.
"So?"
"I'm not doing all your packing for you," she teased.
He snorted softly, tugging on the end of her braid. "Of course not. I just can't do this all alone, y'know?"
"Yeah." She smirked. "You'd be throwing shit into random boxes and hoping it doesn't break."
"Mean!" he squawked, indignant.
Aelin dodged his attempt to tickle her, snickering. "Honest, babe."
"Not fair," he grumbled, pouting adorably.
"Life ain't fair, babe," she grinned, turning her attention back to the boxes. "Right. What do you need..."
~
By the end of the day, all of the boxes were packed and taped shut, Aelin's neat handwriting in blocky capitals labelling the contents of each cardboard box. His clothes and shoes and other more necessary things were either in suitcases or in somewhat neater piles on the floor and his bed, ready to be packed in the next couple days before he and his parents made the nine-hour drive to his university.
Gods, why did he have to be so far away?
Aelin knew it was because of his athletic scholarship, knew it was because he was a talented hockey player that half the colleges in Erilea had been drooling over, but still--she wished he'd chosen to attend Orynth State University with her. Wendlyn University was so far away.
"Hey." As if he was sensing her thoughts, Rowan wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close as he sat down on his bed with her in his lap.
She leaned into his shoulder, quiet. "Wendlyn's so far," she finally whispered, her uncertainty breaking through. "Are you--" Suddenly, she shook her head, pressing her lips into a thin line. "No, never mind."
"Fireheart." He touched his fingertips to her chin, lifting her eyes to his. "I'm always listening to you."
Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes. "You're going to be so far away," she whispered, her voice as small as her posture, curled into his lap.
He stroked up and down her back, comfortingly. "Nine hours in a car is just a couple hours' flight, Ae."
"And two time zones," she sniffled. "I--I know it's not that far, Ro, I just--gods, I can't shut up the little voice inside of me that says it's going to be too far. That says you're going to---no."
"Going to what?" he prompted, his tone holding only concern.
Aelin just shook her head. "I shouldn't, it's too stupid."
"Love," Rowan said firmly but not unkindly, "nothing you think or say is stupid."
She shook her head again. "This is."
He shifted so she was facing him, her back close to his pillows. "Please, Fireheart."
The worry shining bright in his eyes finally persuaded her. "Ro, I have--" She stopped, cleared her throat. "I have this nagging little voice that I can't quite persuade to piss off that keeps telling me you're going to go off to college and find someone so much better than me. That we're going to fall apart because we're far apart." She glanced up at him, unconsciously twisting the ring around her right ring finger like she always did when she was nervous. "I'm...scared. I'm scared my stupid little fear is going to be true."
Rowan was silent for a long moment, processing what she'd just told him, not sure quite how to respond.
"Great," she mumbled under her breath, "it's already starting."
"No, babe," he instantly responded, reaching out to rest his hands on her shoulders, to immediately put her fears to rest. "Absolutely nothing is starting, I swear to all the gods." He leaned down, seeking to meet her gaze. "Aelin Ashryver Galathynius, I love you. Nothing can break that, not even the distance."
She shrugged off his touch, curling farther into herself. "Then why am I so terrified you're going to stop loving me?"
Hearing her voice that fear, Rowan had no idea how to respond. Any words he could have offered just seemed so inadequate compared to his girlfriend's worry. "I will always love you," he finally murmured, hesitantly reaching toward her.
She released a shuddering sigh, allowing him to rest his hand stop her thigh. "Maybe I've just read too much, Ro, but..." Her eyes welled with tears, far more than just the fear she'd voiced hiding behind the walls of her mind. "What if all the books and stuff are right?"
Damn the way he responded. Damn his stupid teenage rashness.
"Love, that's Arobynn talking, isn't it?"
Just as suddenly as she'd become vulnerable, her shields snapped back up, her hackles raising. "Who the hell said you could bring up that name?"
Instantly, he reversed course. "Shit, I'm sorry, Ae, I didn't think--"
"No." Her voice was hollow, dull. "You didn't think."
"I'm--"
"I thought we'd agreed we didn't ever mention that asshole." Hurt broke through her eyes, hurt and...and betrayal.
"I'm so fucking sorry, Ae, I didn't realize I'd said it." Rowan rubbed his forehead, the usual gesture of his worry.
"That's the problem!" she burst out, using her anger to hide her hurt. "I've overlooked it until now, Ro, thinking I loved you, thinking you loved me, but godsdammit, I can't anymore." She gulped. "I can't keep letting you do this shit."
"You just can't, can you?" he bit out, also angry now.
"Can't what, Rowan?" Fuck, she never used his full name.
"Can't believe anything that counters your thoughts is true," he retorted, blindly reacting. "Can't just trust me when I fucking promise you that I'm not going anywhere because you--" That time, he cut himself off.
But she knew what he was going to say.
Knew what he meant.
Because you trust your horrible foster father's judgment more than me.
Something deep inside her heart snapped at that, the last thread of betrayal. "I never thought I'd hear you of all people saying that," she whispered, her voice cracking, shattering alongside her heart.
"Aelin--"
"No, Rowan." For the first time since she could remember, she pulled away from his pleading hands, curled into herself rather than into him. "Just...no."
Slowly, his heart breaking with each step, Rowan moved backwards, moved away from Aelin, left a space yawning between them for the first time since he could remember. Her gaze never left his face, the haunted hollow dullness of her eyes piercing straight through his soul.
Then she pushed herself up off his bed, still staring at him, the look in her eyes shifting, becoming distant. Like she was looking more through him than at him. Her arms dropped down by her sides, one hand curled into the tight fist he knew meant she was digging her fingernails into the skin of her palm to keep herself together. Using that sharp flare of pain to keep herself from shattering.
He'd done that to her.
Him and his idiot words.
"I'm sorry, Aelin," he breathed, one last desperate attempt to try and mend what he'd broken.
She just shook her head, sorrow flickering across her face, and walked out of his room.
A moment later, he heard his front door gently open and close, followed by the muffled spluttering wheeze of her car's engine coming to life. Then the motor sound faded, and she was gone.
Just like that.
Gods, what he wouldn't give to beg at her feet for a chance to repent. He hoped--he just hoped--that it wouldn't be years before he could see her again.
It’s done! The last chapter of my Muggle AU single parents get together is now posted. So much love to everyone who has been reading this, following along, commenting and encouraging and sending love. I am forever grateful, and I hope you will enjoy this last little peak into the lives of our boys.
If you want to catch up, you can read it from the beginning on AO3 here: Of Quiet Hearts and Thundering Dreams.
You will find a little snippet below the cut.
Remus wakes with a jerk, a streak of sunlight streaming through a gap in the curtains. At first he doesn’t realise where he is, back in Berlin his confused brain tells him, but the décor doesn’t look as he remembers it, and Ben’s hot body pressed against his back feels different. There’s an initial surge of panic but then there’s a shift behind him, a groan, and Sirius’ sleepy voice rumbles against the back of his neck.
“You okay?”
Everything clicks into place then, last night comes flooding back to him and he feels his body flush with the memories. He swallows thickly, feeling Sirius firm body pressed along his back, suddenly very aware of how naked they are. He can feel Sirius’ soft dick along the curve of his arse, his breath tickling the nape of Remus’ neck.
“Yeah,” he replies, his voice gravelly with sleep and he clears his throat. “Yeah, I’m good.”
Sirius makes a low noise against the back of his head, his hips shifting a little but his movements and slow and heavy with sleep. Remus can feel the brush of his lips against skin and that simple touch sends something hot sizzle through him.
“Should’ve thought you’d want to sleep in now that the kids aren’t here and we finally can.”
Sirius’ voice is soft, a little teasing, and Remus lets out a low chuckle.
“Force of habit, I think,” he murmurs.
Sirius hums a little, shifting back slightly so that Remus has enough space to move around. He rolls over onto his other side, facing Sirius instead. The other man looks younger like this, early in the morning, the lines in his face soft and eyes a little hazy from sleep. He’s smiling though, and the sight of it makes Remus’ chest tighten with something he can’t quite put his finger on.
“Hi.”
“Hi,” Remus replies, the corner of his mouth twitching slightly. “You’re still here.”
“It’s my house,” Sirius replies, sounding a little amused before his brows pull together, the beginning of a frown, “It’s…is that okay? Or d’you want me to–?”
He makes a move as if to pull away but Remus reaches out to tug him close again, pressing the palm of his hand against Sirius’ back to prevent him from moving further.
“It’s okay,” he assures him, and he thinks he might be blushing a little but he doesn’t care. “I’m glad you’re here.”
For some reason it’s easy to say it when they’re like this, pressed together underneath the duvet, sleep still a presence between them. It doesn’t feel quite as fragile, whatever it is that they have. He doesn’t feel as if it’s going to break anything between them if he admits it and before he can change his mind he pushes on.
“I’m glad you asked me out.”
Sirius watches him in silence, eyes searching over his face for a moment before he relaxes, a small smile flittering over his face again and the expression makes his eyes light up.
“Me too,” he mumbles, ducking his head, as if he’s a little embarrassed and it’s an endearing look on him. “I’m glad you said yes. I’m glad you agreed to…this,” he makes a vague little gesture between them and then he flushes, stumbling over the words. “I mean, not this, I mean, er, London and going away, I mean this was nice too, but it wasn’t–“
“Sirius,” Remus interrupts, unable to keep the amusement out of his voice. “I know what you meant. I’m glad too.”
“Good,” Sirius mutters, an embarrassed sort of tug over his face and Remus tries to keep his face straight. “It wasn’t…too much? I don’t know. I don’t want to pressure you into anything, and I know inviting you here, and staying the night and…it’s not exactly a normal first date.”
“I don’t care,” murmurs Remus firmly, “It was perfect.”
Sirius slackens slightly again, leaning in to brush their lips together but Remus shifts back, keeping the distance between them.
“Morning breath,” he protests, but Sirius only chuckles in reply.
“I don’t care,” he repeats Remus’ words back at him before closing the distance between them, kissing him firmly.
Written for the Queen daddies event 2022, organised by @alittlesilhouettoofaman 💕
Tumblr media
This new event focuses on father-son relationships between the Queen boys (as single dads) and the BoRhap cast (as their sons), and while I've never written anything for the BoRhap cast, this was a lovely prompt for wholesome AUs and I love dad!John always 💕
So embark with me in this little adventure, I hope you'll like it! I'll update every Tuesday for the whole month of November! 🥰
Hi Karizard! Just finished reading Clueless Teens in like … two sittings - it’s legit the best school caste au fic I’ve come across, i love it so much. I know Eremika is the main focus but holy shit ur Aruani is! So sweet! 😭 Would you ever consider writing more Aruani stuff in the future?
Aw, thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I tend to include Aruani as a side ship in my longer fics. They feature in Anamnesis but I didn't tag them as a ship because they do not have a happy ending together and it's pretty much just solid angst between them throughout lol.
I'm still working on finishing my single parents au wip, but Aruani are the other couple in it. They, of course, don't show up as much as Eremika, but they are in it and they deal with changes to their relationship due to becoming new parents.
I'm going to share a little snippet, as a treat (also, I'm chomping at the bit to get this finished and posted, so I want very badly to share scenes and whatnot).
Here, Armin and Annie bring their baby on his first outing, meeting up with Eren, Mikasa, and their kids at the playground.
BEGIN SCENE!
Annie made sure Alexander was secure in his sling while Armin grabbed the diaper bag and slung it over his shoulder.
"Is he okay in there?" he fretted. "You're sure he won't fall out or smother?"
"Maybe the sling wasn't a good idea…" said Annie, looking up at the other families occupying the playground near Eren and Mikasa’s houses. "Maybe bringing him out at all wasn't a good idea…"
She bit her lip and glanced over towards where Eren and Mikasa were watching their kids play. Mason was running back and forth across the play structure’s bridge, doing spin kicks at each landing, while Adriana squealed and hollered because Eren was wiping her nose when she wanted to play. She had been a snotty, coughing mess all morning, he’d warned them, adding, “But don’t worry. The doctor said she’s not contagious, just gross.”
So maybe Adri wasn't an infection risk, but what about all these other kids? Annie held Alexander protectively against her body. He made a grunting sound, bobbing his fists and looking up at her. She glanced down at him just in time to see his face screw up and relax as he farted. Her heart swelled. "We're going to bring you home so none of these rowdy little shits can get you sick," she cooed.
Alexander grunted again, not comprehending but pleased to be part of the conversation.
"Armin, we're going," said Annie.
"Sounds good!" said Armin, opening the car door he had just closed and stowing the diaper bag back inside.
Across the park lawn, Mikasa smacked Eren's arm and pointed at them.
"Ope!" he said, setting Adri free and jogging across the grass to the Arlerts. "Don't even think about it!" he said, stopping next to them. "You told us you were going crazy stuck at home. Now that the baby has his shots and it’s warming up, it's time for you two to get out of the house. He’ll be fine. You don’t need to keep him in a bubble."
"Look," said Armin. "I know it probably seems like we're being excessive to you, but you don't know what it's like having a child with medical issues."
Eren gaped at him. “Seriously?”
"What?" said Armin. "You don't."
"My kid literally can't breathe without daily steroids and gets bronchitis multiple times a year," said Eren, his eyebrows dropping into a dangerous line across his face. "What is Alexander's chronic illness?"
Armin averted his eyes.
"Sorry. I didn't hear you. What was it again?" said Eren. He was in a far worse mood than usual.
"Nothing," grumbled Armin. "The doctor gave him a clean bill of health.”
“Oh!” said Eren. “How interesting!”
“But his immune system is still immature so we have to be careful with him,” Armin persisted.
Eren held up his hands. "Fine. But if you keep sheltering him from everything like this, Alexander is going to turn out like you," he warned.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Armin demanded. "My parents did a great job!"
Annie reached past him to open the car door and get the diaper bag back out. “I guess a little fresh air and sunshine wouldn’t hurt.”
Armin turned to look at her, the betrayal evident all over his face.
"I love you so much, baby," she said. "Just the way you are."
"That's not really what it seems like right now!" said Armin.
"No, really!" said Annie. "You're so intelligent and handsome and talented!"
"But?" said Armin, folding his arms.
"No buts," said Annie, heading towards Mikasa. "It's just that my dad didn't coddle me at all and I'm much less…"
"Much less what?" said Armin, scowling and chasing after her.
"Um... Prissy," said Annie.
“We are talking more about this at home,” said Armin.
“Yes, dear,” said Annie.
“Tan I see the baby?” Adri squealed as soon as she noticed the Arlerts had finally joined them, chugging down the play structure steps as fast as her little legs could carry her and wiping her snot on her pudgy wrist.
Annie closed her eyes, took a deep, stabilizing breath and kneeled down so Adri could see Alexander.
“Hello little Aleskander!” Adri said, then sneezed in his face, spraying him in spit.
Alexander gasped, his eyes popping open wide and his arms flinging out to his sides. “Oh, god…” groaned Annie.
Armin glared at Eren.
“Sorry little guy! I promise she’s not contagious,” said Eren, snatching his backpack from the ground and pulling out a pack of wipes. Alexander’s fists were bopping a mile a minute. His run-in with Adri had been very exciting. Eren held out the pack of wipes for Annie and she extracted one, using it to clean her son’s face while he aired his grievances in a thin wail. He was no longer enjoying his grand adventure now that it included being subjected to torture.
“He’s crying,” Mason observed, skipping toward them to see the new baby. “Maybe he’s hungry. Mom, can I have a snack?”
“Tan I have one, too?” said Adri.
“I might have something,” said Mikasa. She hadn’t packed anything besides her and Mason’s lunches because they were going to be eating so soon but she might have a bag of chips or a protein bar in her purse that the kids could split.
“I’ll give Aleskander his bottle,” Adri said, putting her hands on her hips and inspecting the baby with an officious nod. “I’s going to take very good care of him.”
Mason grabbed his hair. “You know what? I can’t take it anymore, Adriana!” he shouted. “It’s I’m! Not I’s! You are saying it wrong! You say everything wrong! How can you be so dumb?”
"Mason!" said Mikasa.
Adriana’s face twisted with rage and she punched him.
“Ow!” Mason yelped. “She hit me!”
“Adriana May Jaeger!” Eren barked.
“I think she gave me internal bleeding,” Mason moaned, doubling over and clutching his stomach.
“He said I’s dumb!” Adriana howled.
“I’m,” Mason screeched. “You’re supposed to say I’m! Did you learn to talk at upside-down school?”
“I’s! Too! Little! For! Stool!” Adriana shrieked, punching him again.
“My organs!” Mason wailed.
“Kids with busted organs don’t get to play at the playground,” said Mikasa, sifting through her giant bag with greater urgency. Maybe if their mouths were occupied with chewing, the kids would stop screaming at each other. “Kids with busted organs have to go to the hospital.”
Mason eyed her, then straightened with theatrical uncertainty, patting his abdomen. “Hey! It doesn’t hurt anymore! ” he said as if he were as shocked by the news as any of them. “I’m okay!”
“A miracle,” said Mikasa.
He’s heart was beating out of his chest. Trying to locate his bearings he heard the fire alarm going off very loudly. In a panic, he jumped out of the bed and ran to the Shara’s bedroom.
She was sitting up in her bed, looking very sleepy and confused.
“Hey, my sweet. Did the sound woke you up, too… We have to go outside for a while, okay? Let’s get BB too.” Poe hurried cuddled Shara to his chest.
Running out of the room he went to BB’s bed to not to find him. Before he started to stress even more the cat’s meows were heard. BB was pawing at the apartment’s door and screaming as loud as the alarm.
“Good boy” Poe said while grabbing his bag, with his wallet and keys in it, huddled BB to his other arm and got out.
Most of the neighbors were already out. Everybody was looking towards the building with worried and tired eyes. Some of them were on the phone, presumably talking with the fire department or their loved ones, Poe didn’t know and their panicky faces didn’t help to decipher.
While looking at the crowed street, he saw a familiar but scared face.  He didn’t know they were in the same apartment complex, he thought. Then he realized she was rubbing her big belly with rapid movements.
“Hey, are you okay?” he said, hurrying to her side.
“Oh… Hey, hi!” she said coming out of the hazing look on her face and stopped her movements.
“Are you okay?” Poe directed his eyes to her belly.
“Yes, I think. I’m a little anxious and he’s aware of it, I guess. Keeps moving, very restless these days…” She was frowning now, her mind was somewhere else.
“Oh, it is a boy, huh?” Poe said to distract her.
“Yes, my little boy.” She was now lovingly looking at her belly.
  Hearing those words, BB meowed.
“Wow, he thinks we are talking about him. The world does revolve around you, does’t it my little boy.” Poe chuckled.
“Oh, I can carry him if you want. Your hands seem rather full.” She said, looking BB to Shara who was now wide awake.
“How rude of me, I didn’t even introduce you. This is my daughter Shara and this is BB.”
“Very nice to meet you” She said smiling while taking BB from Poe. The cat immediately started to purr. “I think she really likes me or really scared of me”.
Poe looked to her daughter’s face and followed where her eyes were looking. He tried to suppress his laugh thinking of the situation they were in people might not appreciate it.
“She just loves bears and probably wants your shirt to herself.”
She looked down to the pajamas she was wearing and started to smirk as well.
“Very understandable.”
They both were silent for a moment.
“I didn’t know you lived here.” Poe said.
“I kinda recently moved. But I think our apartments are not nowhere near each other.”
Poe gave her a questioning look.
“All of the old ladies happen to live either on the same floor with me or above/below me. The number of cookies I got from them…”
“Oh, you met the gang.” Poe giggled.
“The gang?”
“They are the owners of many buildings around here and know anything and everything. I very strongly suggest you to get along with them.” Poe said moving his brows while smiling cheekily.
“Thank you for the heads up.” She giggled too.
One of the firemen coming out of the building walked towards to the crowed and everybody’s attention was drawn to him.
“Okay, everybody! False alarm! Fortunately, there is no emergency here! You can go to your homes now!”
Collective grunting voices were heard and someone said “Must be the damn kids… Messing with the alarm again!”
“Does that happen a lot?” She asked to Poe.
He sighed “It’s like an epidemic at this point.”
“Good thing it wasn’t anything serious though.”
Poe nodded while they were climbing the stairs slowly.
“I can take BB now, you don’t have to carry.”
“No, he is no bother, my apartment is 2 floors above anyway. Also, he is very well-behaved. You thought him good.”
Poe laughed. “Don’t be fooled by his charm. He can be a real rebel when he wants to.”
“They don’t say orange cats are another breed for nothing.” She laughed.
They enjoyed the silence for a while.
“This is me.” She said.
“Come here BB.” Poe opened his arm to take BB.
He meowed and jumped to Poe’s shoulder.
“Oh wow”
“See, mischievous little…”
They both chuckled.
“So good night, I guess…” Checking her phone to see the glaring 04:27 on the screen.
“Good night.”
They just looked each other, still wanting to talk.
“Oh look, Shara fell asleep already.”
“Oh, I guess I should…”
“See you at the meeting.”
“Yeah, see you.”
While Poe continued to climbed the stairs, she took her keys.
They both were very content how the night turned out.
“Oh, it’s you.” Robyn didn’t bother hiding his disappointment. He had clearly been expecting his father, not Dream. “I c’n get to sleep without a story. Just turn the nightlight on, please?”  Dream did as he was asked, but instead of leaving after turning all the lights except the star projector night light, he took a breath then perched at the edge of the bed. “...Are you upset with me, Robyn?” “....No…” The answer was quiet and sullen, and Robyn turned over in bed to face the wall, burrowing under the covers.  “...I think you might be. Can we talk about it? I can’t fix it unless I know what’s wrong…”  “I don’t need you to fix anything! Dad and I were ok before you!” The anger seemed sudden and explosive, Robyn sitting up and glaring and Dream, hands balled into fists.  Dream was silent, letting the boy calm down from the outburst. He knew that while Robyn was quick to anger, he also tended to let it go quickly as well. This time, though, he didn’t seem to. Dream was about to speak when he broke the silence again.   “You’re not gonna replace my mom. I don’t care if dad kisses you, I don’t care that we moved in. You’re not her.” Robyn drew his knees up to his chest as he spoke, a protective gesture, and Dream’s heart broke a little. This boy had already lost so much–did he really think that moving forward meant having to lose the right to miss his mother? “No. I’m not your mother. I couldn’t replace her even if I wanted to try.” Dream sighed just a bit. He ached to pull the boy into his arms, but he wasn’t certain that would be welcome at the moment. “I know I can never fill that void–not for you, and not for your father. Eleanor was very special.”
My brain tingled with a new idea (well, more like a new idea for an old idea).
Single parents Max and Lewis go on an aquarium date with their kids, kissing underneath the shark enclosure and the kids take pictures (in secret)
Or differently, Max and Lewis post their dates on Insta and nobody realises it until they see Max proposing to Lewis under the polar lights
Of course I would like to hear more
This came in earlier but I was writing the other one so I'm just gonna give more
So, ages. Makoto and Haru are 31 when they meet, 32 when they start dating, move in together 9 months later, and are married at 34. When they're 31 Akira and Ren are 6, and Kotone is 14. Making the twins 9 when Okujima get married, and Kotone 17
Everyone in this family is gay. Sae is married to Tae, and gladly watched her nephews when Makoto plans for date night with Haru to. Extend to the morning. Until they move in together that is
And when that does happen, Makoto is. Conflicted. Their situation is, pretty close to sugar momma territory. In her opinion, that is. Haru just loves her and wants to treat her well that's all
Morning routines when they're all under one roof flow smoothly. Haru gets up first, dragging Makoto to the kitchen to start their early breakfast and begin breakfast for Kotone and the boys. Everything is colour coded, too. Purple for Haru, Navy for Makoto, blue for Kotone, red for Akira, and black for Ren. Mugs, lunch bags, sets of chopsticks, and even those medication organizers
Haru takes vitamin supplements, and has since she had Kotone. Just to keep everything running well, after that minor bit of trauma. Kotone is the only one that doesn't have a morning med to take lmao. Makoto has her antidepressants and her morning ADHD dose, and both twins have that last one as well. Akira ends up a little anemic around age 10, so his diet changes to include iron-rich foods. Not Ren though, hes a big fan of dark chocolate, eggs, and tofu
When Makoto is first dating Haru, Kotone is. Wary. She's like, 15. She's protective of her mom, too. When she gets past that, she feels more comfortable talking about girls and feelings with Makoto than Haru. She's not sure why, but. She thinks Makoto sees things the way she does, romantically that is
Makoto: oh, kiddo, you're so gay
Kotone: I know,,,, but it feels weird to talk to my mom about girls,, she's known my friends for too long!
Makoto: and I barely know them. But I'd like to know them, if you're willing to tell me
Kotone is always showing Makoto the messages she receives from her crush... And then crushes... Squealing at kissy emojis from Yukari, or something especially flirty from Mitsuru
And, Makoto as wing woman is just as awkward as her future daughter. Yet somehow it eventually pays off
(yeah so. Endgame wise it's, Kotone with both Yukari and Mitsuru, and Ren with Ryuji, and Akira and Goro)
But that's for the future
Pstt. Lemme know if you want more. Or if you have any questions. :)
Safe (better keep that thought to yourself) (1/1)
summary: Nico figured he was probably overprepared, but it was better to be safe than sorry, especially when leaving his child with some guy he barely knew and a kid he’d never met.
God, he hoped Will wasn’t some kind of psychopath.
word count: 34,270
read on ao3
Nico had never been one for socializing. He kept mostly to himself in high school, never really tried that hard to make friends in college before he dropped out, and even after Mia came into his life he hadn’t wanted to make friends with any of the other parents.
If it hadn’t been for Jason and Piper - old friends of his from high school who had been co-parenting their seven-year-old son despite having broken up a few months before Piper even learned about her pregnancy - then Nico probably wouldn’t have left his house aside from going to work for as long as he could. As it was, as soon as Nico officially became a parent, Piper was dragging Nico out of the house once every other week to join her single parents support group.
your invitation to a modern breakfast
author: dogsigil
summary:
He wasn't considering including matcha on the menu just for Jade. It just happened to be his idea and a good business move. Cater had told him that “matcha was trendy!”. Besides, Jade was handsome and an excellent example of a single father, something he'd gathered during their several conversations over the counter. It simply made sense to keep the duo around for the business and … well, himself. Not to mention that the idea of making the man happy also just happened to bring Trey a special sense of satisfaction.
He was well and truly smitten, wasn't he?... Fuck.
---
Trey is a single father running a bakery while raising his three kids. Jade is an accountant and the most recent legal guardian to Azul Ashengrotto. This is how they meet.
