also pulling this from my targaryen ocs lore but i firmly believe there are more targaryens than just the royal line. when they flee valyria it's said that aenar took his "wives, siblings, children and kin". kin when you're talking about what are effectively clans can cover a LOT of people since it includes cousins and then you add in the polygamy thing Welp. Literally look at the freys to see how big ONE house can be.

I firmly believe when the doom happened there were a couple hundred targaryens in westeros. which would have expanded in the 100 years between then and aegon and again between aegon and the dance. it's just likely that especially around the dance a LOT of the cadet branches take loses, then later you get the rebellions, add in how that targs are Kinda Fucking Cursed and boom, you're down to the smattering we see in the 5 kings era.

like, that's realistically how things like houses work. i get why grrm doesn't write about all that because that's a lot of fucking people to work into the fucking timeline but then you shouldn't have made the valyrians polygamous and imply that aenar took basically his whole house over to dragonstone.

the thing about yosuke’s shittiness around here (up close and personal, the campout) is that the vast majority of it isn’t doing literally anything for his character. i completely think yosuke’s shittiness is important to his character, but it’s by and large reflections of his own insecurities and flaws. he’s insecure about his masculinity and sexuality, he’s lame, he’s selfish, he’s obsessed with the idea of women, his mouth moves faster than his brain, he doesn’t like himself, and he cares way too much about the societal ideal of ‘normal’. but it’s really important that he’s self-aware! he knows when the things he says are shitty, he knows he’s lame, he knows he’s selfish, he knows he’s putting up a front of being carefree and normal. but there’s absolutely no self awareness here, there’s no recognizing he went too far and apologizing the next day, there’s no regret, there’s not even any self-deprecation, and there’s absolutely no compassion or empathy like he has in serious moments. a lot of what he says is just mean for meanness’s sake, in an execution incongruous with previous behaviour. it’s not even funny!

finished malarkey's book. really liked it 👍 probably is tied with webster's for my favourite (lol) and i really found his focus on the emotional/mental impact of the war really interesting. also very interesting to read it in the context of being written after the show because this reads like a guy who knows they made a tv show of his life and it was presented as being incredibly tragic.

i also just accidentally got kinda into my thoughts on general sex in canon in this post tonight too oops!

i flip flop on this so much i swear but it really just depends on the mood of whatever sex scene i'm writing/brainrotting about lol so apologies for my inconsistencies!

in terms of initiating sex, i think a lot of the time that falls to john just because he's so open about that sort of thing, and i think he's a lot more sex–focussed than gale even though they're both obviously head over heels and very very attracted to one another. john is more likely to drag gale off somewhere spur of the moment and drop to his knees/push gale to his knees, more likely to blatantly make eyes at him across the room or feel him up under a table; he's riskier and more obvious in his advances, he acts a lot more impulsively.

when gale initiates, it's usually a build up, stringing john along throughout the day with strategically placed comments and lingering glances on john's hands or thighs or lips, careful touches and grabs when he's sure no one else is looking, etc. more calculated, less impulsive 'oh i just got horny and i need to get john alone or i will Die' type of moments (john on the other hand– very acquainted with experiencing these moments.)

i think when they first get together/start hooking up, john does take charge because like you said, he's more experienced, so he's more confident, knows how to sweet talk gale out of his pants and into his bed and get him worked up and comfortable with him. i wouldn't say he goes so far as to dom when they're first falling into the swing of things, because i think gale is particular about control and kinda freaks out if he feels like he doesn't have any; it takes a while for him to get comfortable with feeling vulnerable in sex, and john respects that and is so very patient with him, he's happy to have gale in anyway gale will let him.

i don't think any dom/sub type of thing would be involved for a while, just a lot of figuring each other out and seeing what the other is comfortable with and what gets them most worked up. i see gale as being more comfortable giving up control to john when john is bottoming because gale feels less vulnerable when he's topping, so it's easier for him to get out of his head and let john call the shots and pace the two of them. and i don't see john as having a lot of hard nopes when it comes to sex, at least not pre–stalag, so he's generally comfortable with having or relinquishing control, with roughing up or being roughed up.

sometimes he's worked up from watching gale's pretty little waist across the pub as he talks to the others, from having to watch soft pink lips work around a toothpick, gum, rims of bottles, etc all day. if gale notices this and plays into it, a rare moment of acting up because he thinks it's hot when john gets all needy and possessive, john would definitely slip into the position of control when he finally gets gale alone, being a bit more rough than usual and manhandling gale and letting his mouth run as he fucks him.

(not sure on degrading though– i don't get the vibe gale would like anything other than some light comments like "you're so desperate, it's cute" or maybe more possessive–type degradation, like "my pretty whore" type of thing. i feel like humiliation would usually make him uncomfortable in a not–fun way, and insulting degradation would be a hard no because he gets too in his own head about it.)

i've gone so off course lol what else is new <3 but yeah in general, john being more experienced, i see him taking charge when they first start trying things together just because gale doesn't even know where to start and he's too nervous to fully initiate, but as time goes on and they get more relaxed with each other, the dynamic probably changes and there's a lot more back and forth and gale gets more confident with making demands and decisions. :^)

Hello and welcome to another installment of "Aunt Teddy Is Fascinated By Midgey's Language Journey".

We're in the process of potty training -- which, sidebar, is easily my least favourite part of child raising so far -- and during one of our interminable sessions this morning, Midge looked at me and said "There's something fizzy with my foot."

Took me just a second to realize her foot was falling asleep.

"There's something fizzy with my foot", LOVE THIS DESCRIPTION BRILLIANT CHANGE NOTHING. What a magnificent way to phrase such a distinctive feeling. She'd never experienced that before in her life, yet still she could communicate to me so precisely that I knew within moments what she was telling me.

We then moved back to her Elmo potty for approximately the next 52 hours BUT NOT THE POINT THE POINT IS MY PIGEON IS BRILLIANT**

Margo is currently being holtered every six months due to consistently showing single arrhythmias around 100, she’s also thrown one double arrhythmia and two VPCs while being monitored.

We haven’t been holtering borzoi long enough to know if this is normal, but I’m not overly concerned and will just continue to do regular monitoring and testing.

I'm so curious what the process is for the one continuous line pieces. I can only picture one confusing sketch 😅

Level one: filling a shape with random noodling (sketch is on a separate layer and set to overlay - you can use any layer setting you like to make the sketch lighter)

Level two: creating more complex shapes by drawing and erasing

Level three: using "flow guides" in the sketch and use the line to fill in one section at a time. Go back to empty sections and "greeble" them (add details to fill space)

I add an arrow pointing to the "tail" any time I move away from the section where the tail is - I used to spend way too long hunting that bastard down, it's easier just to draw an arrow pointing at it.

I don't plan ahead for what will fill spaces, I usually make it up as I go, and will add the same patterns to areas that I think ought to share patterns in common (like how I made all the fox's feet match in "Silhouette" - the first was just on the fly, but from then on every time I got to a foot I repeated the same motif)

The rest is just having the desire and patience to do this for about a week.
