Ogre
Character Type: Outsider
Ability: On your 1st night, choose a player (not yourself): you become their alignment (you don't know which) even if drunk or poisoned.
Flavour Text: "<grunt><grin></grunt>"
-
New character revealed 24/05/24!
As described on the wiki, “the Ogre is someone's best friend.” I think that’s just delightful! This character offers an interesting opportunity as a bluff, by both good and evil players. You might use it to trick an evil into outing, or a good player into trusting you with their info. Really fun stuff!
*insert Shrek jokes here*

i love how survivor has similarities with blood on the clocktower. like the skull challenge that jelinsky threw mechanically works the same way as the good and evil twin. the secret phrase idols and the yagababble do as well. and both games have a twist based on the prisoner’s dilemma.
got me thinking about how survivor at its core is a social deduction game. in order to win you have to figure out who to trust, who’s telling the truth, and who’s lying to you. and you have to get other people to trust you, both those who you’re telling the truth to and those you’re lying to. that’s really the core mechanic underlying everything else.

so im bringing my niche interest over to this sideblog because i've found a way to make it marine biology related
Blood on the clocktower is a social deduction game, kind of like fantasy among us i guess, but theres a website which allows people to create their own roles for the game, which is what im doing
i currently have all the character names, however i am still working on abilities. By sharing this im hoping to get more people interested in my interests lol
Read about BOTC here
watch BOTC being played here and also here
see the homebrew here < it is very very barebones
if you have any questions or suggestions or like botc and want to talk to me please dm me :D

Hey lads! I've been thinking of planning a little game of starcanwrecked-themed Blood on the Clocktower in the discord server, if anyone is interested in some terrible puns, lying to people, misinformation and murder! Blood on the Clocktower is basically a social deduction game (think werewolf, mafia, Among Us) but everyone has fun powers! If you're a starkid/tcb/shipwrecked fan and you wanna join in, join the server and react to my message in #announcements. We'd love to see you there!
EDIT: I FORGOR THE LINK 💀 Here: https://discord.gg/DE4yGKB3RU

𝗟𝗢𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗨𝗗𝗜𝗢 𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗘...
… It’s so… cold… too cold… You can feel the nerves in your body numbing with every second.
𝗟𝗢𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗟𝗘𝗧𝗘. 𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘… 𝟭%
It’s almost… unbearable. This frosty, empty feeling — leaving you in a pit of your own desolate mind. Everything is foggy. It’s giving you a headache. All you can see is the bright, blurry screen in front of you. The vivid colors of the desktop pierce through your eyes, blinding you, keeping you from doing anything else. Keeping you from leaving.
You want to leave, don’t you? To escape.
But you can’t. You can’t even manage lifting your hand off of the mahogany desk you’re sitting at. The light in front of you is inviting you to stay.
… Or is it something else that’s keeping you here?
𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘… 𝟮𝟲%
The thought of that scares you. It feels untrue. Unfactual. A lie. A joke, only if you could ever call this type of feeling humorous. You aren’t even sure if you have the audacity, let alone the energy to. But what else is there to do? In this bitter prison, all you have left is yourself — and your thoughts.
But are you truly alone here? Or is that very idea the real delusion?
You’re not sure if you even feel like yourself.
𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘… 𝟱𝟴%
No, you’re certain… You definitely don’t feel like yourself. Your body feels like a stranger to you now. Like a stagnant camera, recording your surroundings. It’s exhausting. Being stuck, forced to watch as you make choices you know you wouldn’t take, move in ways you wouldn’t dare to. Lie to those who know you well, and watch as they don’t even realize the difference.
Now, you feel an ache. In your mind, and in your heart. Your struggling has tired you. You have to stay put now. You don’t have a choice. You need to rest. If you keep struggling, it might take away your ability to breathe next.
𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘… 𝟳𝟮%
And while you can sense that your existence is coming close to an end, keeping you locked into a perception of fear, and terror. There’s something else there… A strangely peaceful feeling. Something warm. Warmer than how you originally felt. The more you relax, the better you feel. It fills you with an experience of ecstasy. You don’t want to feel this way. Who would want to feel good about their own disappearance from this earth? You definitely. And yet, you just can’t help but feel peace with this body’s chaos.
Rest. You can rest now. Finally, You are calm. You are at peace.
𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘…𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗛𝗔𝗦 𝗕𝗘𝗘𝗡 𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗧!
You are whole.

Based off pieces of media such as John Carpenter’s “The Thing”, “Nope”, “The Mist”, “Return Of Obra Dinn”, and “Iron Lung”, 𝘾𝙍𝙔𝙊𝙂𝙀𝙉𝙄𝘾 𝘾𝘼𝙏𝘼𝘾𝙊𝙈𝘽𝙎 is a 16+ non-traditional killing game, that functions more so like Werewolf, Mafia, and Among Us. Yes, Among Us. Here in the arctic, you’ll have to rely on your personal strengths to survive. And the only person you’ll be able to trust in this cold, is yourself.

Some of the materials made by the runners of our local Blood on the Clocktower games. A card for what role I was in the first game last night (the drunk 🤣) and the Ravenswood Bluff Gazette chronicling previous games. It's so cool that they put all this extra effort in.
First game was TB and I thought I was the soldier. I was bluffing as undertaker hoping the evil team would target me in the night, they did and I died which led me to think I was either poisoned or the drunk. Yup I was definitely the drunk! Ended up sussing out the whole evil team due to an excellent note taker sitting beside me and good won.
Second game was a custom script called cabbages and kings. I drew the Po token. I'd never been the demon before, only been on the evil team once prior 😬. My bluffs were atheist, goon, dreamer and there was a poppy grower in play! Really really rough. I was not confidant in bluffing dreamer but in retrospect thats what I should have done and used my totally made up info being wrong as evidence of an atheist being in play. Poppy grower really messed us up and none of the evil team found each other. I managed to charge up and get a 3 kill night but was nommed and exed the next day. Very stressful but good fun.
Really love this game and it's a nice group to play with. Was the first time playing for my neurospicy friend who joined and they had such a good time and felt so welcomed by the more experienced players. They were also the damned poppy grower in the second game and the main architect of my downfall 😡🤣

I had the opportunity to play Blood on the Clocktower today and WOW! Just a ridiculous amount of fun. I’ve played Werewolf, of which this shares some of it’s DNA, but BotC is a whole new creature.
We played 3 games, back to back and I think we would have kept going if the person running it didn’t need to feed their kiddo 😂
Longer post later but yes, Quinns was right, it’s good!

Blood on the Clocktower is a hell of a social deduction game. With most games like Werewolf and Town of Salem, your job is to figure out who is lying if you are good or lie if you are evil. With BotC, both the good players and the evil players are lying all over the place. Outsider roles like the Mutant and Damsel literally have to lie to help good not lose. And it’s not just players lying. Sometimes the person running the game just lies.
In most social deduction games you can just trust whatever information you get, and the ability to give false information is often specific and predictable. Meanwhile in BotC, you can be the Oracle and get told that there are 2 evil players to convince you it is a Vigor Mortis game, meanwhile it’s actually a Lleech game and you are the poisoned host. The storyteller has so much room to help spread lies and manipulate, its crazy.
Like, imagine you were playing Town of Salem as mafia, and you get told you have two Godfathers and 1 of them is secretly a good player and you have to figure out which. That would be completely insane, but in BotC that’s just the Magician.
Wacky ass game, would recommend.

I don’t like social deduction games because i always suck at them. Mainly it’s cus i suck at lying so if i try to lie about something im immediately found out and can’t play for the rest of the round or the game is way too simple or complex to be fun. So yeah social deduction games? 4/10

If you’re not actively channeling the vengeful spirit of Machiavelli in order to gaslight close friends harder than a 18th century tavern, you’re not playing board games correctly.
