Randomly ranting about AI.
The thing that’s so fucking frustrating to me when it comes to chat ai bots and the amount of people that use those platforms for whatever godamn reason, whether it be to engage with the bots or make them, is that they’ll complain that reading/creating fanfic is cringe or they don’t like reader-inserts or roleplaying with others in fandom spaces. Yet the very bots they’re using are mimicking the same methods they complain about as a base to create spaces for people to interact with characters they like. Where do you think the bots learned to respond like that? Why do you think you have to “train” AI to tailor responses you’re more inclined to like? It’s actively ripping off of your creativity and ideas, even if you don’t write, you are taking control of the scenario you want to reenact, the same things writers do in general.
Some people literally take ideas that you find from fics online, word for word bar for bar, taking from individuals who have the capacity to think with their brains and imagination, and they’ll put it into the damn ai summary, and then put it on a separate platform for others so they can rummage through mediocre responses that lack human emotion and sensuality. Not only are the chat bots a problem, AI being in writing software and platforms too are another thing. AI shouldn’t be anywhere near the arts, because ultimately all it does is copy and mimic other people’s creations under the guise of creating content for consumption. There’s nothing appealing or original or interesting about what AI does, but with how quickly people are getting used to being forced to used AI because it’s being put into everything we use and do, people don’t care enough to do the labor of reading and researching on their own, it’s all through ChatGPT and that’s intentional.
I shouldn’t have to manually turn off AI learning software on my phone or laptop or any device I use, and they make it difficult to do so. I shouldn’t have to code my own damn things just to avoid using it. Like when you really sit down and think about how much AI is in our day to day life especially when you compare the different of the frequency of AI usage from 2 years ago to now, it’s actually ridiculous how we can’t escape it, and it’s only causing more problems.
People’s attention spans are deteriorating, their capacity to come up with original ideas and to be invested in storytelling is going down the drain along with their media literacy. It hurts more than anything cause we really didn’t have to go into this direction in society, but of course rich people are more inclined to make sure everybody on the planet are mindless robots and take whatever mechanical slop is fucking thrown at them while repressing everything that has to deal with creativity and passion and human expression.
The frequency of AI and the fact that it’s literally everywhere and you can’t escape it is a symptom of late stage capitalism and ties to the rise of fascism as the corporations/individuals who create, manage, and distribute these AI systems could care less about the harmful biases that are fed into these systems. They also don’t care about the fact that the data centers that hold this technology need so much water and energy to manage it it’s ruining our ecosystems and speeding up climate change that will have us experience climate disasters like with what’s happening in Los Angeles as it burns.
I pray for the downfall and complete shutdown of all ai chat bot apps and websites. It’s not worth it, and the fact that there’s so many people using it without realizing the damage it’s causing it’s so frustrating.
#I despise AI so damn much I can’t stand it#I try so hard to stay away from using it despite not being able to google something without the ai summary popping up#and now I’m trying to move all of my stuff out from Google cause I refuse to let some unknown ai software scrap my shit#AI is the antithesis to human creation and I wished more knew that#I can go on and on about how much I hate AI#fuck character ai fuck janitor ai fuck all of that bullshit#please support your writers and people in fandom spaces because we are being pushed out by automated systems

Can't stop playing with HeroForge (not a sponsor) (as if someone would sponsor a Mic blog on tumblr)
Honestly some of the poses are pretty fun and I might end up using some as references for Loudspeaker drawings because just look at him he looks dope.

'SkateRock'
[C64] [SPAIN] [MAGAZINE] [1987]
The game principle itself isn't exactly revolutionary. The graphics are somewhere between "so-so" and "please, turn off the monitor!"; the sound is nothing special either. If SkateRock were a 10-mark game, you could definitely recommend it as a not unoriginal skateboarding skill test. But I would advise against this frustrating program, especially because of the gameplay flaws. Unless you're a real joystick acrobat and don't get discouraged so easily. ~Heinrich Lenhardt, Happy Computer

I still think Mass Effect's differentiating approach between "Artificial Intelligence" (true sentient sapient learning growing digital Intelligence) and "Virtual Intelligence" ('fake' intelligence, an Advanced Software, a glorified interactive database interface-slash-personal assistant, limited functionality) would be very useful in current AI discourse because it's correct that we do not have AI. We have VI. The problems come from pretending VI is the same as AI, insisting it's the same as AI, expecting it to perform like AI, and expecting it to understand like AI. but I'm just hollerin at walls
#generative ai#virtual intelligence#VI vs AI#and i mean. obviously the incredible amounts of theft involved in its creation#like they didn't even have to Do That they just did it#but VI itself could be a useful tech path for SOME (minor) things (and shouldn't replace PEOPLE and EXPERTS)#like ofc double check whatever ur VI does but a program that can like sort ur emails and make appts? very handy#a program that leeches creative labor from thousands to generate you a Bad custom image or text? like. why#it's like if Clippy was advanced enough to be useful#like sure I'll take a useful Clippy. what do you mean it wastes tons of water why was that ever included. what the fuck#just give me Useful Clippy whys it gotta have Theft and Water it's just supposed to be Advanced Software. what are you doing back there#its entirely unnecessary for the goal you're trying to reach#edit to add: outside of *generative* theft/water waste ai#there's some cool and significant scientific/medical advancements being made with specialized niche AI

scene of programmer021 throwing together the code for the first TCOs: "what if i just give them 100% in all stats lmao."
releases one into a sandbox*
sandbox bricked irretrievably within 3 minutes
ho-ly shit.
..... that's hilarious.
they try like ten more times, each with the same outcome. the little worm is good at what it does, scary good, and programmer is grateful that they went the extra mile with the sandbox layer of protection from it.
at a safe distance, the TCOs are brilliant sparring partners.
*(basically a mini computer running inside of (but held separately from) another computer) (used to test new features without risking a whole system)
on the twelfth go, they've learned enough of its tricks to have more of a chance. both of them take a moment after a long scuffle to catch their breaths. the stick figure gasps on the floor - it's amazing! so lifelike! and programmer is celebrating this little victory for the field of recreational AI right up until
it looks at them.
TCO #12 turns its hollow face out through the screen, looking at them.
programmer is unsettled.
can it see them?
their webcam is off.
surely it's impossible?
right?
and yet, it seems to see them regardless, because not only does it react to their reaction (little twitches eerily realistic, how did their program know to do those things), it capitalizes on their shock. it springs to its feet while they're still open-mouthed and reaches the walls of the sandbox window (which programmer had been herding them away from at all costs), crashing against the side, rebounding, and hitting them again and again.
programmer flails to reconnect to their Cursor (you know when you forget where it is and have to wave it around before you can use it again? like that, but with even more panic, confusion, and imminent peril).
there are cracks in a multitude of funny colors forming at the edge of the sandbox instance. pieces of the window dent out of its normal bounding box. The Chosen One adapts instantly, focusing its hits toward the weak points.
WTF! this has gone way too far.
programmer's Cursor swoops around from out of nowhere and catches the TCO by the base of its head. it tries to breathe fire and only manages strangled puffs of smoke. its legs kick the air. where once it was so elegant and poised it twists and writhes-
programmer drops it.
they feel cold.
their Cursor retreats outside the walls of the sandbox PC, clicking into the main system's File Explorer. already open is the folder with this sandbox, its partition of storage, and setup files inside.
they click it. press Delete on their keyboard.
the TCO tries to stand. it pushes through a dizzy spell, one hand holding the spot under its head that must be its neck, and sprints toward the breach it was working on.
a confirmation pane appears, from the process responsible for running the sandbox.
its arms are strong, but the more TCO_12 struggles the more it's clear that this wall would need way more firepower and concerted effort... and time... to break. it's out of time. it realizes this.
are you sure you want to end this process? ALL data will be lost.
programmer sees when it loses hope, because it abandons the wall. it abandons the whole game: the pride and dignity it fought with, the play-pretend that it held any real power here. it turns outward again, toward the screen. small hands slam against the barrier between them, knock-knocking faster, faster, please please please, its legs shake and give out but it keeps knocking, on its knees, please please please please PLEASE
the sandbox is deleted.
the window that displayed it freezes, lighting up too-bright and desaturated.
a snapshot of the TCO is frozen in place, begging for...
begging for what? it was never meant to know anything. to want anything. how did it know there was anything outside its reality to want?
or was it simply afraid to die?
Windows catches up, and sweeps the frozen program away.
programmer021 is left alone with the spot where TCO_12 used to be.
their friends want to play with their latest stick figures. they were supposed to update today.
programmer numbly uploads the most recent release build they have. killer and BEAST were fun to work on. they'll warn everyone not to touch TCO until.... until programmer works out how to... until ever, and if one of them does, it'll be their own fault.
#--/ story#alan becker#animator vs animation#not cho specifically more the. concept of a TCO. like as a name for a species: so i won't tag their tags for this#programmer021#i remembered their number on the first try LOL. had to go back and check but it was correct xd#idr now what my original reasoning was but i had the idea for a while that TCOs might be easter eggs. or dev tools#accidentally left in the main Symbol creation system where any layman could boot one up and wow! time to buy a new cptr!#idk if programmer was meant to be the creator of the software animating Symbol sticks or just an expert in it#but the former was more interesting for my purposes#so that's where the ending came from#with a sprinkle of unreliable narrator for fun. whose fault is it again? the unsuspecting user or the coder?#executable!au#ava au

how do i even explain what i want to do with the hex’s story the game is already a big “god(more of a title here) is evil and it hates you” i’m literally just doing that again but worse
#shape game posting#Creation hates itself and runs in circles trying to bite its own tail off. Wows.#I like the idea of cycles and loops and history repeating itself thats presented in inscryption so like#What if that had more basis aside from just the weird self-destructive-yet-never-destroying code#I like when deities are just really pissed off it tickles something in me#I’m NOT religious and no i DON’T hate the concept of a god but i find this fun ^_^#“God” is not a developer it is the software itself. The gameworks is a festering ball of anger#and it imbeds that anger into anything that comes out of it#Its portrayed as an organization in the game world but i do like to think whats holding it all together is its own god-like being#That’s the thing actually making new npcs and characters and stuff#Lets be irrational and pained with all seeing mama ❤️#It does not like anyone or doing anything it made authorities and people like irving so it could have something to speak for it#And it ends up hating him too so literally biggest fumble of all time#< that does not make him sympathetic it makes him worse.#Biggest (early)difference from canon is that it brings him BACK just to kick him around#It can do that btw it just never wants to but it just hates him that much i guess😭😭#Imagine thinking ur special and exempt and above everyone and then you get personally beaten up over and over#So deserved yes boy suffer. Suffer boy. /NOT aff 👎👎👎👎👎👎#shape au talk#< if i yap again. I might. Taps chin thoughtfully
