Aquarium date with Floyd Leech

Floyd x reader

There’s something inherently romantic about standing side by side with someone you love. Your shoulder leaning into his arm, fingers interlocked with one another’s. Clutching onto his palm, letting the cool blue lights of the tank wash over your body, rippling through every surface the light could touch.

You watch in awe, as schools of multi coloured fish swim right by, each with their very own appeal. Shimmering scales, deep soulful eyes, or perhaps even an astonishing speed, for one so small. Gently, you place your palm against the glass, if only to get closer to the wonderful world playing out before you at that moment.

A fish takes notice, slowly moving towards your palm. As it swims closer, all you could do was to marvel at its beauty, the flawless design of a creature from the sea itself…

“Oh, whatcha’ looking at, Shrimpy?”

Floyd leans over, draping his lanky body over yours. Hooded eyes glance somewhat listlessly towards the fish in front of you, brightening up in recognition. Opening his mouth wide open, Floyd bares his fangs at the fish, laughing as it zooms away in fright.

“I’ve eaten one of these lil’ guys before! Tasty.”

You glare at him the best you could, stifling your laughter all the while. Folding your arm inwards, you elbow him in the side playfully, chiding Floyd:

“Honestly! You don’t have to say it in front of the fish!”

His lower lip jutted out in a slight pout, a petulant whine slipping right off those lips.

“But it was really tasty… hey, how about I catch one for you? I think it’ll be easy, if I could just slip into the tank…“

Raising your hand, you smack Floyd on the arm lightly, huffing.

“I am not eating this cutie right in front of its family!”

Sighing, Floyd slings an arm around you, pulling you closer to him. Close enough for you to feel his pulse, beating right through his chest. To count every beat of his heart, the pace slowly meshing with yours. Melting into one, steady beat.

“Fine, fine… you’re so uptight, shrimp.”

His gaze flickers here and there, mismatched irises slowly scanning his surroundings. They rest on you, for a while. Staring at your features, illuminated by the azure ripples of the sea. If Floyd squinted a little, he could almost imagine you two were indeed under the sea.

Holding hands while the waves brushed against both of you, coaxing the two lovers closer. Perhaps he’ll give you a good squeeze, with both his arms and his tail too! It’ll be so fun, exploring the ocean’s mysteries with you right by his side… but maybe going straight under the sea wasn’t too much of a good idea.

Well, Floyd supposed the aquarium was a good start. At first, he didn’t want to go at all. What’s the fun of that? Floyd’s pretty sure he’s seen all the sea has to offer, considering he grew up there. However when he saw that sparkle in your eyes, the eagerness you thrusted the brochure at him with… how could he say no?

He wonder if those adorable eyes of yours would sparkle with the same sort of joy, when Floyd takes you under the sea. He’ll bring you to all of his favourite spots! A old shipwreck teeming with ancient artefacts, a particular reef, teeming with corals of all shapes and sizes… maybe even his little cave Floyd decked out with all his treasures.

But for now…

Seeing you smile is enough for Floyd.

Made this for the Solarpunk Aesthetic Week server in a sudden creative fever, so I guess I'll post it here too hh

A relative of mine knows someone who teaches kids, so I'm gonna suggest this as an art project for them! The idea is that students could each make/decorate their own shelf, then put them together to form a hive, which could function as mini lockers in their classrooms. Then, by the end of the school year or something, they could either take their own little shelf home (or exchange them with their peers?), or recycle them into materials for the next class! Hopefully it'll teach them about pollinators too 🐝

Idk how doable this project is really, and its scary to imagine one of my silly designs could actually become something tangible irl. But even so, I'm still excited to try 🥰 (And if anyone else attempts this too, please let me know!!!)

The most illegal thing Koby has done is learn a divine language... Which is only a little bit more illegal than dating a God

So.

Thoughts on language/religion in regards to this au. They aren't fully fleshed out but I'll clean it up as I go.

Learning a divine language is kinda taboo, like, you can learn them, and it's certainly less frowned upon than poneglyph, but outward practice isn't really accepted. Many people who are religious or follow religious practices are well versed in divine languages, in order to feel closer to their respective Gods.

Besides, religion makes people feel at ease and the world government is pretty relaxed when it comes to punishing those for worshiping or following their Gods. With how many there are, and how deeply a lot of it is ingrained into so many cultures, it'd also be a pain in the ass to control both that and pirates.

Koby learns through the people he meets while traveling. A lot of them think it's odd but fascinating that a young, wide-eyed marine wants to learn something like that. They indulge him anyways.

He did get better at understanding the language but his pronunciation isn't great, kinda hard to make some of the sounds Luffy makes too. Especially when he isn't used to talking like that, nor are most people. Demigods have an easier time picking up on speaking the actual... Words?

Robin understands the language of the Gods, and the rest of the Straw Hats do pick up on it a little bit just through exposure to Luffy. Luffy isn't the greatest teacher, but having people who want to understand him is always exciting. He is thrilled when he meets up with Koby on Water 7 and Koby can understand him.

Augh the Barbatos shower picture is going to be the death of me, I swear. I'm still thinking about a nsfw drabble based on one of his lines lkasdfkjfj it's a problem, I swear.

Anyway, here's a Barb drabble with MC not getting why the demons are obsessed with them! I thought it was a cute little scenario. And Barb is just being super romantic as always lol. I can't help it, I am but a humble fluff writer.

Barbatos could see it on your face - a subtle expression that the others might not pick up on. It told him the story of how you were trying your best to hide your own confusion. It was something that happened every time one of the brothers complimented you, when they fought over you, when they expressed this need to always be near you. A slight furrow of your brow, the tiniest downturn of your lips, the fleeting uncertainty that flashed through your eyes.

Ever since your first day in the Devildom, Barbatos had seen this look. He was always watching you. The more he did, the more it became clear to him that you didn't understand why everyone seemed to think there was something special about you.

Perhaps he waited too long. Perhaps he should have mentioned it to you sooner. But you didn't seem distressed. All he ever saw was bafflement. So he let it be for quite some time. Until he finally found himself alone with you when it displayed itself.

Barbatos had been pouring you a cup of tea as he heard about the brothers' latest antics. You were telling him that they had been arguing over who got to work with you on an upcoming school project.

"And then Levi got involved and I had to calm everybody down before Lotan was summoned," you said.

You were looking down at the table, your mind clearly elsewhere, when that expression flashed across your face.

Barbatos put down the teapot. "Does it make you uncomfortable, MC? When they argue over you this way?"

You met his eyes, seemingly startled by his question. "No," you said. "It's a little silly, but it doesn't make me uncomfortable. Why do you ask?"

"It's only that I've noticed the look of confusion you sometimes have in moments like these," Barbatos said. "As if there's something that troubles you about it."

You frowned in thought for a moment. "I guess I just don't understand why they care so much? Why do they think I deserve this much attention? I just act like a regular human would. Why are they so… obsessed?"

Barbatos chuckled. "Do you truly not see? This is exactly what makes you so fascinating."

"I don't know what you mean," you said.

"Despite being a totally unique individual, you still believe you are ordinary," Barbatos said gently. "I have been alive for a long time, MC. I have met many humans. No two are alike. You are not 'regular' because there is no such thing. You are yourself and that is why we love you."

Barbatos was pleased to see that confused look replaced by a soft blush. "You…?" you couldn't finish your question.

Barbatos took your hand and kissed the back of it. "Indeed," he said. "Even I have fallen under your spell. I will remind you of how special you are for the rest of your life if I must."

You laughed, a little taken aback. "I don't think that's going to be necessary."

Barbatos only smiled, your hand still clasped in his. He was content to see such a soft and sweet expression on your face, a glint of happiness in your eyes. Despite what you said, if he ever did see that confusion there again, he would do everything he could to bring your smile back instead.
