I just reread some of my old fiction writing, and it was actually like not bad. I've been saying for a few days that I really need a hobby. Maybe it's time to give it another go

#I had a few conversations with people irl recently about fiction writing where I expressed my general lack of motivation for it #I feel more fulfilled with non-fiction writing and it's typically more inspiring for me #I decided to go back and revisit some of my old fiction writing and I realized I've been really tough on myself #I can definitely look at my old writing with an editor's eye and find things I'd like to change but the writing is pretty solid as is #I'm expecting to have some free time tomorrow so I think I'll give fiction writing another crack #I might as well take advantage of my free time to explore a creative outlet I'm not likely to have opportunities to pursue once I have a job #99% chance I'm not posting anything I write but it feels good to state my intentions somewhere #ashley rambles

Genuinely fucking batshit how some people will act as though the bare minimum level of care + respect for the people around them with different problems is like, an insurmountable fucking bar

#red rambles #ok yes yes i do actually have relatively severe brain problems that sometimes desperately need to be accommodated in person or i flip out #so maybe my perspective is different. but i think if you cannot even make a lip service attempt to accomodate your friends and peers when #they ask you not to talk about something with them or to try to avoid bringing up certain topics this is like not hard. there are many #harder things i like. id say i ask of people but that's not true since i know i never get it so i just self isolate . lol #but you see the point right #'ohhhh how could i do that' its not hard you simply think with your brain #'ohhh but what if it's annoying' well you just suck. like as a person #dont talk to them then. you don't get to have it both ways #eta. if you think this is specifically talking about you you are categorically wrong. this post was inspired by a really annoying #character i made up in a dream who was a dick to my friends so i killed them with a hammer. this is not like. a person i know irl #however if you feel like this is about you it is possible you're doing wrong by the people around you in which case like. like i said. bare #minimum is not to take people you are in active conversation with on subjects they don't want to talk about and def not to do it repeatedly.

I had a long, (I think) eloquent post about this but Tumblr ate it.

So here's the short version.

I can be of the opinion that certain kinds of dogs are poorly bred and shouldn't continue to be produced without hating the individual dogs themselves. Can they sometimes work out? Yes! Are they worthy of love and a good life? Absolutely! Can they accomplish amazing things? Hell yeah!

But do I think they should continue to be bred? No. Because dogs deserve quality of life and breeding unsound dogs, more often than not, produce puppies/dogs with behavioral/health issues and I feel that's a gamble too far into unfavorable odds to be fair to the dogs and the people who love them.

I have to visit the great uncle (grand uncle technically but english kinship terms are weird that way) who doesn't like me (and once tried to convince me (a 25 year old) that a high-pitched sound has a low frequency) today so wish me luck I guess

Something I find really endearing/amusing (both) is that my closest friend still associates me with Stanford a ton. Like. She doesn't know I actually selfship (afaik), but she knows he was one of my two main fictional husband type guys for a long time. So even though he hasn't been one of my mains on this blog for a while, there's still someone who sees him and immediately thinks of my relationship with him. It's kinda nice.

#don't ask me why i'm thinking of this on this wednesday morning #but the thing that continues to get me #is that being in a relationship is ultimately a choice #and if you find your partner's lifestyle or desires so incompatible with your own #whether it comes to marriage or kids or location or religion or morals or what have you #you have the choice to voice those reasons and to leave the relationship #which is hard but not as hard as it is the longer you stay and there are more... complications #but to continue to stay but question your partner's wishes when you know they conflict with your own #and move the goalposts in terms of commitment or whatever #or meet them with apathy #is just so hurtful #and yes this is inspired by you know who lol but also #just had a really interesting conversation with a family member last night about a not-dissimilar situation irl #and just like ~life in general

I tried out that Grimer Shake today. It wasn’t that bad... Have you ever eaten a Bluk Berry? It tastes like that. Except a lot sweeter.

I don’t normally go to McDonphans, but my coworkers dragged me into it. It was our lunch break, and they thought the trend was funny. None of them got sick, in case you’re wondering. One of them absolutely hated it though. I guess it depends on the person.
