I have been debating on whether going to uni today or not, since instead of our normal lecture we were attending a book presentation sort of thing. I decided to go against my instincts and actually go despite it not being part of the exam materials, and the fact that I could have definitely used half a day of studying at home. I kind of regret my decision but also not. Don't get me wrong the presentation was very badly done, and it's not even the writer's fault, it was the other people on the panel. Anyway I ended up leaving early and going for a coffee with two classmates and ended up chatting for over an half an hour. It was a nice interaction, I had a good time and the coffe was good so the afternoon was not wasted. I have this class till the end of the semester, so I am very happy I am managing to make friends at the beginnig. As I have mentioned I struggle a lot with these things but this seems to go well so far so I'll be focusing on that.

14/50 days of productivity:

read first thing in the morning and finished my book (which means now I am going back to the grady hendrix book and hopefully I won't get stuck with it. I don't want to dnf it because I have read like two thirds of it and I want to know what happens but gods is it long and slow ugh)

continued working on the same spaces of knowledge document as yesterday which I'll definitely won't finish tomorrow but whatever

Hello everyone!

My name is Amina and I am a BSc Psychology with Honours student at the University of Hertfordshire. I am also the principal researcher of a study that aims to investigate whether judging category relatedness within semantic memory can be influenced by the level of typicality the items have alongside whether high versus low autistic traits have any effect on the performance of different types of processing.

I am currently taking volunteers for this online study. Any adults aged 18 to 65 can volunteer and you do not need an official Autism diagnosis to take part.

In the study, you will be given an item/ definition/ scenario at the top of your screen and will have to decide which of two following words match best to that using your keyboard. After that is completed you will be given the RAADS-14 questionnaire to complete.

It will take roughly 15 minutes to complete. However, a maximum of 30 minutes is given for the entire study to be completed including the information sheet, consent form, debrief sheet, and the “breaks” given (which are just for momentarily resting your eyes and hands), otherwise I cannot use your data. Please note that this study cannot be completed on a mobile phone or tablet, it must be done on a computer/laptop as the keyboard is required for the study’s completion.

I found a somewhat disturbing study that was done by Kingson University about euthanizing autistic people in the Netherlands. I’ll the link to the article here if anyone wants to read the entire thing.

Several people with autism and intellectual disabilities have been legally euthanized in the Netherlands in recent years because they said they could not lead normal lives, researchers have found.

The cases included five people younger than 30 who cited autism as either the only reason or a major contributing factor for euthanasia, setting an uneasy precedent that some experts say stretches the limits of what the law originally intended.

In 2002, the Netherlands became the first country to allow doctors to kill patients at their request if they met strict requirements, including having an incurable illness causing “unbearable” physical or mental suffering.

Between 2012 and 2021, nearly 60,000 people were killed at their own request, according to the Dutch government’s euthanasia review committee. To show how the rules are being applied and interpreted, the committee has released documents related to more than 900 of those people, most of whom were older and had conditions including cancer, Parkinson’s and ALS.

Propaganda:

- Noé is blunt, literal, and very honest. He has a strong sense of justice. He doesn't have the strongest grasp on emotions whether they are his own or others'.

A list of examples I noted down while watching the show:

- He can't quite articulate why he doesn't want to work with Vanitas until he thinks about it and is like "yeah I just find you unpleasant".

- He immediately kills Domi's joke (calling him her fiance) because it's not true. Similarly he can't accept heartfelt thanks because he didn't do the work.

- He misses the romantic air while talking to the woman who loves him and mentions that he's sad about missing out on drinking someone else's blood.

- He cries from joy when his brilliant plan, which is just explaining himself really well and being understood to avoid conflict, actually works (which I think is like an autistic fantasy that if we just explain well enough people will understand us and be cool).

- He can't keep up an act to trick a bad guy because the bad guy calls his friend by a number, and I quote "You can't call people by numbers! It isn't right."

Any other details:

He's a vampire that was initially raised by humans, and then as an older child/teen(?) he was taken in by a vampire. He was isolated from vampire society still and current day as an adult he doesn't fully understand either human or vampire society. This adds to the autistic vibe I get from him because he doesn't quite fit in anywhere.
