and da drawring for my lala no uta cover! going at my pictures with a sewing machine :)
here's what the back looks like if ur curious:

my machine doesnt have a true locking stitch and reversing over paper is kinda tricky so i put all the threads to the back and manually tied them - and then tied the ends all together to keep them from sticking out the sides LOL
#art#traditional art#watercolour#fanart#vocal synth#synthesizer v#synthv#genbu#i like the vibe of it...... i think the machine sewing is kinda fun for this hee hee#now god it makes me really want a memory craft. ive used one before - one with like multiple alphabets and everything#so awesome. for both fabric and paper - and with the free darning foot? girl we're outta control!!!!!!!!#unfortunately used sewing machines are weirdly expensive where i live??#people are like heres my busted for parts only machine from 1999. 1000 doll hairs please. its crazy#everyone should give me a late 90s early 2000s memory craft for free because im nice and i have a winning smile

I wanted to know how do you interpret Tanya's gender. After reading chapter 58 of the manga i got the impression that she is definitely trans coded, but maybe thats just me
Very good question.
To be honest, when I think too hard about Tanyaās gender (and sexuality, for that matter) it gives me brain worms. Fun brain worms, but brain worms nonetheless. I canāt explain it. Everything sheās got going on is complicated as shit thereās way too much to think about.
Like, she was a man, but now she's a girl. But at some points she says she still sees herself as a man internally so is this MtFtM? How does that work. And if she accepts she's a woman now, is that just MtF or do we add more letters. More importantly: Was Being X being Transphobic or being the Greatest Trans Ally of All Time with the free divinely issued sex change.
Ok ok, jokes aside. Confession: I actually do not keep up with the manga, so I had to go find the chapter and read it first. Having read it now though, I see what you mean.
The conversation she has with the Salaryman/herself in that chapter really does read as essentially saying āIāve accepted who I am now.ā Itās a far cry from a much earlier part of the manga I remember where she has a breakdown about being a man/people seeing her as a girl.
A friend of mine was actually showing me stuff from more recent chapters of the manga (donāt know which chapter tragically, but I know itās not currently translated to English) and from what I gathered of it, Being X was showing Tanya a dream of being back in her past life and in response she basically demanded to go back to being Tanya immediately. It is definitely not just you, I 100% see the trans-coding youāre talking about.
As for my personal interpretation of her gender, I touched very briefly on it once before, but I honestly think she wouldnāt want to label herself as anything. At first, this is out of hesitance and not wanting to acknowledge that anything might be āāwrongāā or āādifferentāā about her. Later on it turns into character growth, more along the lines of, āI donāt need the label to define me, I just am what I am/like what I like. I donāt care about it any more than that.ā Yes this is 100% projection on my part. No, I wonāt apologize for it lmao.
Of course, that's entirely my own headcanon. I definitely am not saying itās the only way to interpret her, itās just my personal thoughts. Especially since my opinion is subject to change on a dime depending on what Iām reading/working on myself. The Tanya gender is, in fact, transient, shifting like water.
Like. A transfem Tanya fic that focuses on her adapting to life in her new world and coming to discover she doesnāt actually hate her new body? Iād totally read that. Iāve seen a few fics that include that as a part of the narrative and those scenes of acceptance were among my favorite parts.
I get the feeling this is the route that the manga is going as well. Itās a bit of a shame that we don't have those aforementioned scenes in the light novel (or at least, I don't remember them), but I donāt think that Carlo Zen really intended that to be the focus/narrative in the first place. And honestly, I also think thatās a good thing because it allows for so much more room for interpretation and headcanon around Tanyaās character.
Anyway, the other direction is also compelling to me. A transmasc Tanya fic where, after feeling uncomfortable and hating how feminine he looks for years and years, he finally goes āFuck this, Iām gonna go back to being a manā? I would read the fuck out of that too.
Could also be paired with him finally choosing to defect, where they think about it like, āWell thereās nothing to hold me back now, right? I donāt have to maintain appearances anymore. Also, since Iām defecting this would be a great way to hide myself. Theyād all be looking for the wrong person. Two birds with one stone, how efficient.ā ā¦Now weāre getting to fic ideas I wonāt ever get to so itās time to move on I think.
Semi-related to the Trans Tanya Concept, this actually brings me to a bit of a lore/headcanon/idea/question I want to present to the public for opinions. In Norden, during the inciting battle of the war, Tanya uses magic to ādope upā so she could enhance her strength and reaction time and kill pain. I took this to mean she used a formula to synthesize the narcotics/adrenaline hormone/whatever else directly into herself, right?
Can you see where Iām going with this? As long as you know which hormones to make, how theyāre made up, and what quantities you need⦠Well, donāt you think magic HRT is completely possible? Of course, as I'm not sure it makes sense for Salaryman to have known the detailed specifics about it from the modern world, it would require a lot of in-universe research/science advancement for someone to actually do that, but theoretically...
The magic system in this universe has so much potential to be explored, Iām fascinated by what you can theoretically do with it. Although, this is long and off-topic already I think this should be the end, lol.
I think I talked too much? Iām sorry, you were probably not expecting such an answer. I told you, Tanya gives me brain worms (mental illness).
I guess the TL;DR is this: that kid definitely aināt cishet.
#marathehomosexual#ask#not a daily post#you could ask me a simple yes or no question and i would STILL find a way to make the answer multi-paragraph#i STILL have things to talk about. im just choosing to throw it in the tags now#LIKE. if synthesizing hormones is something completely possible in universe#is birth control possible as well? how about anti-depressants?#how far can we go with this? can you get addicted to these magic-synthetic chemicals/hormones/whatever?#say you need a little pick me up in the day. you give yourself a little boost in the happy-brain-chemicals (dopamine or whatever)#(im not a biologist or knowledgeable about most biology-related things honestly. please just go with it)#would a mages body start to rely on magic to produce it and stop creating it naturally anymore?#could this create a dependency? would you start to need to make more?#its insane. i feel insane#you ask me a simple question and i refuse to stop elaborating#rimu be quiet now

I woke up wondering if I could use my Taiko no Tatsujin drum game peripheral as a MIDI controller for recording actual taiko drum sounds
Turns out, I can!! šŖš„š„
FFS I've just realised the full video didn't upload. Rest is on YouTube if you want more.
youtube
It's absolutely wild tbh, and now I'm wondering what other game controllers I can do cool MIDI stuff with
Btw if you like the music in this, it's on my new album, Home for Hitodama - I'd love you to check it out

GUESS WHO FOUND AN ORGAN FOREVER AGO?
Found an organ (psure it's an AceTone B-422) on the side of the road one day while some guy was clearing out his dad's house, and managed to get this organ for free. Dude said he didn't get a chance to try it out, nabbed it anyway and stuffed it in my room.
Turns out, it doesn't work.
Turns out, it has a bunch of built in features that DO work.
There's a built in vibrato, a built in reverb, a built in Rhythm Ace Drum Machine, and a God Damn Leslie-branded rotary speaker built in. The drum machine, speaker, and rotary speaker all for sure work, and since it's a 60s organ that reverb is pmuch guaranteed to be a spring tank, which is easy to repurpose. The vibrato would be cool to mess with, too. Lastly, there's a "Brilliance" switch which I'm really curious about.
As for the rest of the organ, I have a bunch of options:
1. I rip out all the keys, replace them with modern midi controllers, and turn the whole thing into a custom recording station. Problem is, the two keyboards are 44 keys each, which is pretty rare for midi controllers. They're also bigger keys than normal, so maybe there's a way to make them work, but that also makes the depth of the keys an issue I'll have to tackle. It also means the 13 bass pedals would be useless.
2. I get 1-4 Arduino boards, and rewire the keyboards so I have 2 44-key controllers, 13-pedal controller, and if I wanna get crazy with it the swell pedal and whatever other knobs I want for midi controls. Problem is, I know nothing about Arduino or digital midi, and I'm already diving headfirst into several unfamiliar disciplines for this project as is. DOUBLE problem is, from what I can tell it would be difficult if not impossible to make the original keybeds velocity sensitive. Triple problem is, if I do decide to toss the key beds, I can't go back and Arduino it up later. I'm not gonna be able to hold onto those parts, and there's no way I could justify having a whole second house organ just to reattempt it.
3. I cut my losses, rip out the relevant electronics, and toss the rest
If I go with either of the first two (read: fun) options, it's also worth considering all the space around the keys, where I can theoretically add whatever. I've tossed around the idea of putting a 2x4 group of drum pads, maybe some knobs or even a ribbon controller somewhere. I could even put a screen there, either with real time feedback or built in synths or digital effects (maybe a raspberry pi or small computer affordable to run soundfonts or even VSTi's natively; imagine having a DIY touch screen with drawbars next to the keyboard to adjust settings, that'd be sick)
And none of that takes into consideration the multitude of cosmetic modification options possible; Paint, veneer, upholstery, LEDs, lights, VU meters, metalwork, leather, the list goes on.
I've got a bunch of ideas and I'm in the process of getting the tools together to move forward with this project.
I'm sure I can also upgrade stuff in the future.
But I'm seriously considering turning this thing into the ultimate keyboard performance desk, both for YouTube stuff as well as live (since, theoretically, it'll be a LOT lighter once the speakers and motor(s) are pulled out)
If anyone has experience with doing any of this sort of thing, I'd love to pick your brains for more info on all this stuff. Working on researching for a YouTube video about the project, including a history of the Ace Tone company that made it (with probably too much emphasis on it being founded by the same dude who founded Roland several years later).
It's a big project, but I think it'd be worth it. I'm more excited about this than I have been about virtually anything else in years.

"Death before Detransition" does not mean that I will kill myself if I can't access hormones or be referred to by my preferred language.
It means that there will always be another way. There will always be a stockpile, or distributors, or ways to synthesize the medicine we need. And even if that fails, there will always be community. There will always be identity. There will always be expression, and identity, or some piece of the trans experience, whether it be societal, physiological, or even completely internal, in perpetuity, that lives through every transgender person.
"Death before Detransition" means that the only way to erase my reality as a transgender woman is to put me in the ground.
We'll talk damage control and ways to help in the coming days and weeks. I welcome input on the topic as well- if there's a cause you want recognition for that will suffer under the new administration, let me know.
But for now, rest. Sleep. Take care of yourself.
I love you.

It's interesting to think that, like... The Dark Sanctuary Dark World in Chapter 4 is the first Dark World we've seen that has no real connection to the theme of 'abandonment'.
Like, Card Kingdom is based on an unused classroom filled with abandoned toys. The entire plotline there revolves around King's anger and resentment at being abandoned by the Lightners and his desire to take revenge.
The computer room that became Cyber World is usually very frequently used, but.... because the Internet is down it's not at the moment. And Queen is driven by the anxiety of being abandoned if this internet shutdown continues, synthesized through her ego in a very "what would the Lightners do without me?" way.
And TV Land is the heaviest on this theme. With Tenna being driven by the grief of falling into disuse due to both technological advancements and the Dreemurr-Holiday Family Unit slow dissolution and the fear that this will get worse and he will be thrown out.
But then in the Dark Sanctuary... The Church is often used by the people of Hometown, this doesn't seem like it's going to change anytime soon and we see no Darkner be anxious about, like, the canceled Choir practice or anything like that. The closest thing we have to a 'leader' in that Dark World is Gerson/the Hammer of Justice, who is clearly a precious and well-loved Monster-Equivalent-of-an-Urn. If anything, his main worry is about him not being there for his Lightner son!
And, like, I said the Hammer of Justice is the closest thing we have to the 'Dark World Leader' slot in the formula seen in the previous three worlds, but that's also not quite the case.... cause he's also the Shadow Crystal Bearer of the same world. If the Hammer is like the Jevil or Spamton of this world, than it doesn't really have a King/Queen/Tenna for itself?
I remember when Chapter 2 came out, I already noticed this 'Abandonment' Pattern and I wondered whatever a Dark World created from objects that are not neglected or abandoned would just be far too.... content to actually have an adventure in it. Like, there would be no one to fight cause all the Darkners would just be chill and happy they're fulfilling their purposes.
And I also wondered if the Dark is, like, attracted to objects which were abandoned or neglected, gives them bigger importance or power in the Dark World. Hence a 'TV Land" instead of a general "Dreemurr House Land", the TV is the most abandoned thing there and so it is granted more focus.
And on that same topic I wondered about the fact Kris deliberately turned on the TV before opening that Dark Fountain. Like they were intentionally trying to aim for a TV Land Dark World.
Obviously the first idea, that non-abandoned Darkners would all just be benign NPCs has been disproved by the Dark Sanctuary, which has it's fair share of enemies to battle. But I think the idea that the Dark gives extra power and importance to things that have been Abandonment might have some merit. Not just with the Dreemurrs' living room being ruled and controlled by their disused old TV but also with the fact there isn't a clearly equivalent to Tenna (or Queen or King) in Dark Sanctuary.
And again, it makes me think of Kris' reasons for turning on the TV... Was it because their plans is to deliberately invoke the prophecy as much as possible and a TV Guy being slashed by the Knight is mentioned so they had to make a TV Guy?
Could they intuit that the Darkner that would be created from the Television would probably be desperate for attention and obsessed with Toriel and thus easier for the Knight to manipulate.... and also maybe that the Abandonment it feels will make it stronger?
(Notable perhaps that they also slightly opened the house's front door before turning on the TV and making a Fountain. In light of the events of Chapter 3, it seems like it was Kris laying a trap to pull Undyne to the Dark World so that the Knight could kidnap her)
Have Kris and/or the Knight have been deliberately seeking out abandoned and disused places that will therefore have stronger 'boss' Darkners that are easier to manipulate towards the Knight's goals?
And if that was the case, why did they stop with the Dark Sanctuary?
Did they just kinda... ran out of obviously abandoned places/things around Hometown?
Was it simply a matter of following the prophecy?
Was it a desperate attempt to re-capture Toriel via the choir practice?
Was the Knight just desperate to open a new Dark Fountain... somewhere and went with the Church as their first opportunity?
Was that pattern I noticed just a coincidence and doesn't actually mean anything?
A lot of things to think about...

Real scientists unmask the anti-transgender Cass Review as methodologically flawed and misleading

The Cass Review, a widely cited report on gender-affirming care in the U.K., has been heavily criticized by researchers for its methodological flaws and unsupported claims.
A new peer review published in BMC Medical Research Methodology found that the review lacked statistical rigor, misrepresented evidence, and excluded key studies without justification.
Headed by pediatrician Dr. Hilary Cass, the Cass report dismissed gender-affirming medical care as unreliable, recommending "exploratory therapy," which critics argue is akin to conversion therapy.
The review applied biased analytical methods, misquoted previous studies, and selectively adapted assessment tools to justify anti-trans conclusions.
It also advocated randomized controlled trials (RCTs) for puberty blockers, which experts denounced as unethical. Despite its flaws, the Cass Review influenced policies, leading to a U.K. ban on puberty blockers and contributing to restrictive health measures in the U.S.
Chris Noone and his colleagues write:
Using the ROBIS tool, we identified a high risk of bias in each of the systematic reviews driven by unexplained protocol deviations, ambiguous eligibility criteria, inadequate study identification, and the failure to integrate consideration of these limitations into the conclusions derived from the evidence syntheses. We also identified methodological flaws and unsubstantiated claims in the primary research that suggest a double standard in the quality of evidence produced for the Cass report compared to quality appraisal in the systematic reviews.
Experts urge policymakers to reject the report, calling for research centered on patient autonomy and accurate scientific analysis.
See Them for more.
The science paper can be found here: Critically appraising the cass report: methodological flaws and unsupported claims
