The Assad Drama in Syria is a shining study of how great teamwork can get the results. For the outside world, it was the Syrian rebels who were responsible for Bashar al-Assad fleeing the country. The reality is that they were just a part of a grand cast that played its role to perfection from behind. Okay, without trying to take away from the joy we are feeling, we must stay vigilant. This ceasefire deal is 3 phases, the first is a 42 day pause for hostage exchange which is set to start on SUNDAY, as long as Netanyahu’s cabinet signs off on it. The IOF is not expected to fully retreat from Gaza, but stay to ‘mandated zones’. Palestinians are meant to be able to return to their homes, but with Israeli soldiers still there, this is not a guarantee. The 600 aid trucks a day into Gaza during this 42 day phase 1 is still not enough.

THIS IS NOT OVER. We do not know the details of phase 2 and 3, and nothing has been agreed for these phases in writing. We must not get complacent in this moment of respite. Please, do not stop fighting. This is not over until every Palestinian can return home, until the occupation is gone, until all of Palestine is free.

Keep protesting and campaigning, keep donating because aid organisations need all the help they can get, especially in the next 6 weeks, and it might be the only window people get to evacuate. This is a step in the right direction, but it is not over.

if you are seeing communists talking about syria and confused why we are not happy right now it's got nothing to do with support for assad and everything to do with the fact that the rebels are backed by the us, israel and turkey. i do not mourn assad's regime, but rather the impact of a syria backed by the us and israel, and what that means for the levant - including the golan heights. after all this time how do you not understand what 'us backed intervention' means for a country? it is further devastation for people who have already suffered greatly

Syria is wanting to normalize relations with Israel.

This is amazing news. Not only is it another middle eastern country normalizing relations with Israel (Saudia Arabia is announced it was doing so too 1.5 years ago), but it also couldn't have come at better timing as the PA (Palestinian authority), who control the west bank, called Hamas sons of dogs and told them to return the hostages.

Also, Jordan outlawed the Muslim Brotherhood, which is a terrorist organization who is allied with Hamas.

It's almost like peace in the middle east DOES include Israel. Who would've thunk.

Big win for coexistence this week.

🇮🇷 In less than 24 hours since the Iranian retaliation against Israel, Western leaders and much of mainstream media has already twisted the narrative to frame this as an unprecedented attack.

We now have two jobs:

☝️ To push back and make sure people know this was a retaliation — otherwise Israel can portray itself as a victim to garner sympathy

✌️ Not get distracted away from Gaza. Gaza is the priority

I don't think people realize the number of rockets that have been fired at Israeli civilians daily for the past year: over 23,000!

These rockets were fired from over 5 countries, sometimes simultaneously. Over 150 rockers were fired today alone, and it's only 3PM here. People die almost every day from these rockets, let alone the daily terror attacks. Western & Arabic media outlets simply don't cover most of this.
