No matter how desperate or dire, never pray to the gods that answer after dark.
I've always wanted to draw this scene, and I've been trying to practice backgrounds so the forest setting was perfect. I also really like the way the 2nd panel turned out!

Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil:
Jess. Freckles like stars across her cheeks.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue:
“Jess,” she says, supplying the name he can’t find, because it isn’t there. “It’s okay,” she says, “if you don’t remember.”
........so Lottie definitely fucked Addie LaRue

i feel like people completely misunderstand addie. like no, she didn't fight in a war or do something so drastically incredible with her life, she spent her time trying to leave a mark on the world - but isn't that what so many of us long to do? writing "___ was here" in concrete, posting things on social media, creating businesses that will hopefully out-live us. people seem to limit her to the bland storyline and 'pick-me-ism', and that's a valid opinion, but i disagree. life itself is not going to always be exciting. what addie does is continue to live, not just survive, ignoring the hollowness that could just as easily swallow her up. she romanticises her life, that is true, but what is wrong with that? don't we all sometimes? she is making the best of the bad cards she got dealt. she can still appreciate the art in the world, she can still enjoy the sunshine and good food and lovely music. she did not let bitterness suffocate her; she made a life out of it

the best thing about the ending of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is that her ending, not yet reached, is entirely dependent on the truth. if Luc does not love her, she will have “won”. she will be free. if he does love her… she’s loved! their relationship is the teensiest bit less toxic, and they can enjoy one another forevermore. i love it.

Propaganda:
Hajime and Nagito: I understand that it’s popular and I don’t want to hurt the feelings of those who ship it, because I understand why it has appeal, but there’s a lot of evidence why it’s at the very least one sidedly obsessive. Komaeda idolizes Hajime and his “talent” to a degree that consistently makes Hajime uncomfortable, and as soon as Hajime is revealed to not have any talent, Komaeda is quick to berate him and emphasize his worthlessness in comparison to those who have talent. Then after Hajime is revealed to have every single talent imaginable, Komaeda goes right back to idolizing him. The majority of the internal dialogue when the player choose s for Hajime to interact with Komaeda is Hajime saying things along the lines of how uncomfortable Komaeda makes him and how scared he is of him.
Addie and Luc: Addie makes a deal with the shadows, Luc, to avoid being married. He makes her immortal, but also curses her to be forgotten by everyone she meets, all to drive her to despair and make her give up her soul to him. They were together for twenty years, but then he tried to change their deal and she broke things off entirely with him. In the present day, he sets her up with someone else he’s made a deal with who also doesn’t forget her but who will also die within a few months, all to break her heart.

A girl is running for her life…
The invisible life of Addie Larue, a story composed to imagine the fear of being forgotten by all you meet while you remember it all.

ONLY YOU is the perfect song for Luc when he falls in love and dances with Adeline in one of his speakeasies.
IMAGINE IN. he's in love with the only mortal who he's made immortal, the only human to make him FEEL like one
The only human to be immortalized
And yet
there she lays, her opportunity of a dream once conjured, of living a life of ease, with love, a home, all in Luc
all destroyed in the idea that
he is not human, and he cannot love
What if he DID love you, and you made him human enough to do it?
Sigh, Adeline LaRue, you would've loved living a life with Luc

Soo I realized that probably the only book I'll ever reread is The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.
Don't get me wrong there are tons of other books I like, but this one just has an extra special place in my heart.
Most of my books get me out of reality for a while, and I love them for that, but Addie LaRue was different. I remember reading it last summer, and I was just... At the end, it literally made me rethink my life (and like without any exaggeration). It had so many important messages for me, the most important one to me being that I don't have infinite time. Like it or not, my time is limited and I have to do something with it while I still have it.
So yeah, this book meant a lot to me, it's definitely one of the books that affected me the most.

I don't really understand all the people who cried so much about "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue."
Like it is ok...and I will admit I shed a single tear in Henry's last chapter.
Also, I do like the dynamic between Addie and Luc. I don't think I ship them, but I definitely love reading their interactions.
But my biggest gripe is how Addie seems fundamentally unfazed and unchanged by 300 years of witnessing the best and worst of humanity. Like, I have been on this planet 10 times less than she has and I carry some serious *psychic trauma* by what I have seen and experienced. It is hinted that she carries some emotional baggage about it, but most of the story focuses on her trying to leave a meaningful mark upon the world. And that just kinda feels like a first world problem. Addie doesn't have to worry about survival. She feels hunger, but never starves. She feels pain but her body never ages or wears down. Bitch can get stabbed and it heals within minutes. I guess it makes sense she would then only care about being around artists and being a muse.
IDK, the story just feels kinda hollow and lacks any real substance. It is enjoyable for what it is. Some light fluff that tries to say some deep message about how "life is beautiful and worth living even when it is hard and unbearable," and honestly...gag me.
