Library of the Future (DOS/Data Discman/Windows 3.1/Windows, 1990/1991/1992/1993/1994/1996/1999)
In 1971, a man used a mainframe computer to type a copy of the Declaration of Independence. That computer was one of the fifteen nodes of ARPANET, the first version of the internet. This became the basis of the first free online digital library, and the largest online library dedicated to public domain texts, Project Gutenberg.
Before internet use became mainstream, multiple commercial CD-ROMs containing collections of public domain texts were put on the market. The first and most updated of these was Library of the Future, begun after its co-creator spent days searching for a single Immanuel Kant quote in an eight-volume printed text. You can download all four versions of it here. (Tips: editions 1 through 3 can be mounted in modern Windows. 4th Edition is in BIN/CUE format - click SHOW ALL - and will need to be burnt to a disc with e.g. ImgBurn. DOSBox and winevdm will help.)

Included via that link are volumes 1 and 2 of the version released for the Sony Data Discman, an early eBook reader. Volume 1 includes a DOS program (for use in DOSBox) that can read it (it is listed as DEMO, but it accesses the whole text - rather, it's a demo of the Data Discman itself, as you can see below). To use it to read Volume 2, do this: use e.g. 7Zip to extract Volume 1's contents into a folder. Then do the same with Volume 2, and copy those contents into the Volume 1 folder, replacing their counterparts. You can find more Data Discman eBooks here.

in dazai's jjk verse it mainly centres around him being in the same year group as geto and gojo, namely because in bsd dazai is shown to be around the same age if not exactly in 2005. but having him born after gojo means that his existence is a direct conflict and result of gojo's own birth as within the same year the strongest sorcerer was born, so was the strongest anti-sorcerer (???) at least as far as cursed energy nullification goes, dazai exists to counteract gojo's existence in some sense.

Wonka was Just Joking About What he was Going to do With the Black Cloud
And other Jank: A Midjourney Secret Horse preserve.
Tumblr media
I've mentioned Midjourney's /describe feature on more than one occasion. It's basically a Midjourney specific clip-interrogator, where you feed it a picture and it spits out four prompts that, in theory, produced something along the lines of what you presented.
Thing is, /describe never really worked.
And that's why I love it. I enjoyed taking random images, /describing them, and then combining the results, which were like this (base image is the wonka meme template above):
1️⃣ wonka was just joking about what he was going to do with the black cloud, in the style of light purple and light orange, stylish costume design, bronzepunk 2️⃣ a man in a purple shirt and hat smiling at a computer screen, in the style of fanciful costume design, whirly, blink-and-you-miss-it detail, gritty elegance, celebrity and pop culture references, glorious, polka dot madness 3️⃣ a beautiful young man who pretends to be waldorf, in the style of purple and bronze, polka dot madness, contemporary candy-coated, clowncore 4️⃣ can you name the top 10 funniest quotes ever?, in the style of light purple and gold, movie still, polka dot madness, groovy, handsome, neo-victorian, character
Beautiful madness across the board, and the results when run (clockwise from top left, 1, 2, 3, 4)-

-are like when Google Translate first hit the scene and it was dumb as rocks, so you could get fun stuff by looping text through multiple translations to get wacky stuff. Eventually all the translators got good enough that stopped working, and no one archived the stupid version.
Which brings us to now, as MJ has launched a better version of /describe. I'll do some posts on its capabilities and improvements soonish (it's brand new), but they told us a month ago it was coming, and I took action.
More than 54,000 prompts worth of action
I can't archive the /describe feature as it was, but I could build a stockpile of prompts before the system changed, and I did. About half of these are ones I /described myself, the other half were gleaned from Midjourney's public creation discords.
These are all fully machine-generated prompts, so they're public domain by definition. All shared on a google sheets file.
Caveats:
They are no longer associated with their base images.
They are organized alphabetically.
As above, what comes out does not always reflect what went in.
Not every prompt generated by Midjourney's bot will run on midjourney without editing as sometimes /describe makes prompts that trigger their prompt censor. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If anyone wants to make a text-diffusion AI that generates prompts using the above as a dataset, go for it. Feel free to show off your results in the reblogs as well.

What are the advantages of using a short domain name? There are several advantages to using a short domain name. Short domain names are short and easy for users to remember. People tend to remember short content, which is especially important when word of mouth or entering a URL directly, helping to increase direct visits. In web design, advertising, social media sharing and other scenarios, short domain names make the page appear cleaner, do not take up too much space, and improve the user's visual experience. Especially in platforms with character limits such as social media and SMS, short domain names can be fully displayed and easily shared, and will not be truncated due to excessive length, which is conducive to the rapid dissemination of information. In theory, a shorter domain name might be slightly faster in DNS resolution, and while the actual increase may be small, any factor that improves the user experience is worth considering. A meaningful and short domain name can quickly establish a brand image and impress people, as a concise and powerful slogan or logo, such as .com,.top and other suffixes of short domain names. Short domain names are more visually beautiful, in line with modern aesthetics, and help to enhance the overall professional image of the website or brand. In addition, short domain names are not easy to be entered by mistake or counterfeited, especially on mobile devices, and short links with security measures can provide a more secure access environment. Short domain names not only enhance efficiency and user experience at the technical level, but also play an important role at the market and brand strategy level, and are a detail that cannot be ignored in the digital age.

Hey there Techblr
I’ve got some domains hosted with Google, and I’m not looking forward to the price hike next year once SquareSpace starts charging their usual rate.
What’s the best registrar to switch over to?

something i extremely extremely hate is when you do stuff A Certain Way and it's fine and then something changes and you get told "you need to fix these things" or even WORSE yet "we just wanted to let you know that there are some things that you need to edit" without even saying "hi, we've changed the way we do this now just as a heads up so you have to do things a little different :)" like ????????? you are literally a Company, why are you trying to gaslight me lmao
