It actually bums me out that astrology has persisted through the years as the standard BS divinatory practice that people really buy into, when it so easily could have been ornithomancy instead.
We could鈥檝e had hipster girls trying to predict the minutiae of your life using an intricate chart that details how many herons or crows you鈥檝e seen in the past year. Instead of asking what鈥檚 your sign on dating apps people would be like how many birds did you see on your way to work today. I cannot stop thinking about what could have been.

I know it's a thing on here to treat ppl who are unamused by horoscope shit as wet blankets but frankly there is something uniquely aggravsting abt telling another person your star sign in order to participate in what you assume is lighthearted convo and watching a respected adult peer actively adjust how they feel about you as a person in real time bc of the day of the year you happened to be born on

NAME.聽Riley Yildiz AGE & BIRTH DATE.聽30 & November 4th, 1993 GENDER & PRONOUNS.聽Female & She/her SPECIES.聽Witch COVEN.聽Dahlia OCCUPATION. Part time professor at the University & owner of Tooth & Veil FACE CLAIM.聽Bensu Soral
biography
At approximately sixteen minutes past ten at night, Riley Yildiz had been born. The stars had aligned just so to bless the family with their baby girl. She had been a striking image of her mother, with eyes that shone so brightly with the curiosity the girl would one day have. For she would embody the precise astrological traits that came with a child born under the Scorpio sign. Determined, brave, and loyal beyond all means, Riley would be a little force to be reckoned with. As her parents would soon understand as she learned to crawl, walk and eventually run.
And run she did, into the forests beyond their home, out into the night to gaze up at the stars as the constellations formed before her very eyes. From the moment that she could walk and understand, a night hadn鈥檛 gone by that the young girl was out in the backyard, staring up into the darkened sky. With a book of constellations in her lap, a pair of binoculars at her side, she had begun to mark every single one that she could see and identify. While some believed that the stars held no significance over one鈥檚 personality or traits, or even their livelihood, Riley had become adamant to prove them wrong. For she believed that all there was to a person could be determined by the alignment of stars upon the day they were born. She believed that the stars could point them into the direction of the future, of what would happen next.
It had started as a simple pastime, a hobby and curiosity that had her out in the middle of the night. Which had her shoving a book of astrological signs and traits into the face of any who would listen. Yet, as the girl grew older, as the hobby stuck like glue, Riley had begun to turn it into something far more. With the magic of a witch at her side, she focused that ever present determination of hers towards what she could do with this passion. What could the stars tell her? How could the alignments, the constellations better the world around her? Or rather, what could they tell her about the secrets of it all?
Born and raised within the Dahlia coven, Riley had been a young girl when the tides had shifted. When the scourge of blood magic had swept through the halls of the estate, wreaking havoc upon those within. Faith within the coven had been shattered, safety seemingly painted as an illusion; and Riley could only wonder why the stars had not foreseen this. Perhaps that had been the motivation she had needed, the final push that had sent her into the hole that was astrology. Into the darkness of where all the secrets of the world were held, as they awaited those who could read the stars, follow the constellations.
It had been what followed her through her schooling, through the magic that she learned from the older Dahlia members. Restoration at first, until she had become skilled enough to move onto another. Until she could dabble with the others in her pursuit of understanding the world, of following the stars and using her magic when appropriate. For while most others her age were off exploring the world at face value, pressing the bounds of their freedom, Riley had focused her attention upon the study of the stars. Until eventually, she had acquired the necessary schooling to show others what she had learned. She had gone from studying the star charts of those around here, to teaching them how they could read their own, and so much more. Yet, it would simply not be enough, not when there were still long hidden secrets within the night sky.聽
