Peeping Tom Chuck Vs Magneto
Tumblr media
My dude Magneto is home alone, minding his own business and reading a book. Something isn't right; *someone* is watching. Leah Williams made this as queer as possible and I love it. "Sigh. Enjoying the view?" The *sigh* really sells it as a situation Mags has dealt with before. Man takes his reading glasses off and everything, to pace the halls talking to his loser husband. This is why he wears the helmet.
Tumblr media
The subtext becomes text as Mags explicitly points out *decades* of 'recognising... telepathic needling.' He shouts his awareness of the Trial of Magneto's events then wigs out as his mindscape incorporates some MC Escher shit. Ironically, he knows he didn't kill Wanda and so does Hope. It's Xavier who's out of the loop on this one, strung along by their excellent performances. Mags was so committed to the bit Pietro beat him into this coma right here.
Magneto only detecting Xavier's familiar presence then seeing Hope's GIANT head makes it even funnier IMO. She's borrowing Xavier's powers so they can both probe for guilt over Wanda's murder. Xavier's telepathic communication often manifests as his giant bald head invading people's privacy; so Hope's does as well. After this experience it shouldn't be surprising that Hope is the Quiet Council member who explicitly references Mags and Chuck as loser husbands. She's seen the receipts.

X-Men ‘97 (2024) Marvel Studios
This scene from the X-Men ‘97 episode Bright Eyes reminded me of Kate Pryde’s exchange with one of the Orchis soldiers she killed following the 2023 Hellfire Gala.

✖️ KRAKOA LIVES ✖️
I have no words to describe how excited I am. The First Krakoan Age was far and wide my all time favourite X-Men Era.
It looks incredible and pulled straight out of the comics.
Also Lockheed?! And the dev letter teasing Arakko and more.

One of the big issues many seem to have with Krakoa era is that the X-Men start making peace with old enemies to build this new nation. They see it as extremely out of character, even though it has never been uncommon for X-Men to work with their enemies (many of whom end up being redeemed) towards a common goal. What I find most baffling is that the writing intentionally frames this as making deals with devils. Despite the peace they've made, these people still don't like or trust each other, and the likes of Shaw and Sinister are constantly scheming to betray everyone for their own end.

Hey there, hope life is treating you kindly.
What style of government would you say that the Arakki practice (pre and post Genesis War?) How would you rate Storm's political performance as regent?
Lastly, what - if anything - do you think the Quiet Council could have learnt from the Great Ring?
Thanks!
I would describe it as an aristocratic assembly (more specifically an omega-archy), kept in check by the Night Seats acting as "tribunes of the plebs." However, it slid more into a tyrannical form (in the Greek sense of the word) under Genesis, especially after the Night Seats were purged by Ora Serrata.
I would say Storm's leadership - which really has to be considered broadly, in both her terms as Regent and Seat of All-Around-Us, and then later as the Seat of Loss under Lodos Logos as Seat of All-Around-Us - was broadly successful although not without setbacks (notably Uranos' attempted genocide and Isca's betrayal, and arguably the Genesis War happening in the first place). She managed to pull together a coalition of Arraki behind her program of political and cultural reform and then led it to victory in a civil war.
In terms of what the Quiet Council could have learned from the Great Ring, it's going to sound odd but I think it's their methods of selecting new members and handling turnover in office. Trial by combat isn't a democratic election by any means, but its grounding in Arraki customs and mores gives it legitimacy that the Quiet Council's ad-hoc aldermanic procedures, which turned into a mess of corruption and infiltration.

I like to imagine Exodus completely misses the subtext and everyone else is like please get a room we're trying to be a serious government here. Except Krakoa who shakes their leaves and shoots a bunch of pollen into the air, a flock of birds takes to the sky shrieking. Everyone looks at Doug like 'does Krakoa have something to say?'
Krakoa says stop being haters, let them fuck

Kamala Khan goes to the Times Square to stop Krakoan from rampaging the city. Krakoan (Julian Keller) is not only acting like a terrorist, he even says the cheesy line like "Welcome to Die" from the X-Men arcade game. Kamala is becoming suspicious with Sophie Cuckoo as she believes that she is involved with Krakoan as she used to be his schoolmate. Meanwhile, the new Quiet Council - Empath (Manuel de la Rocha) and the remaining Stepford Cuckoos are manipulating everything behind the scenes with their telepathic powers and they watch the events unfold. The Stepford Cuckoos coerce the lone Sophie Cuckoo to use her telepathic powers to manipulate the journalists to make sensationalist news on the mutants. Back to Times Square, the fight doesn't go well for Kamala Khan as Krakoan stretches her limbs and trapping her in spread-eagle position. Krakoan's terrorist plot was actually a set up by Empath and the Stepford Cuckoos who used Julian Keller as their pawn for their sinister scheme. The world watches Kamala get beaten down by Krakoan on live TV. Just as Krakoan could finish Kamala, Prodigy (David Alleyne) bursts into the scene. The Stepford Cuckoos try to manipulate Prodigy with their telepathy but he resists them thanks to the Anti-Telepathy Shield taught by Emma Frost. Prodigy fights Krakoan by using a combination of martial arts, tools and wits. Prodigy knocks Krakoan's helmet off, revealing the face of Julian Keller. Prodigy defeats Julian by tying him up with a cable and throws him down to the pavement. Even though Julian has been stopped, Prodigy is unfortunately arrested by the police. Sophie Cuckoo is hiding in the alley and showing her regret as she watches Prodigy's arrest from afar.
