Mileven (Mike x Eleven): solid 8/10. I think they're cute in the 1st season and they have their moments, but their chemistry is definitely feeling more forced recently and I just don't see them working out.

Byler (Will x Mike): definitely a 10/10, it just makes sense. Byler proof is so thick and it's so obvious to anyone who actually cares to look. I'm not a hardcore shipper or anything but they're happening.

Willel (Will x Eleven): get this shit out of here bro, -10/10. Like Will is gay and they're practically siblings 😭

Wheelson (Dustin x Mike): there's nothing wrong with this ship, I just don't see it and I haven't seen enough content to base my opinion off of that so 0/10.

Wheelclair (Mike x Lucas): again, just don't see it and haven't seen enough content. So 0/10, however, I feel like their dynamic could be cute in both a romantic and platonic sense.

Byclair (Will x Lucas): I don't see it ever happening but oh my lord y'all the fan art and content for them is so cute so they get a solid 3/10 purely for the cuteness.

Byson (Will x Dustin): I've never seen any content for this. Like at all. I don't think anyone ships this. 0/10 only because I haven't seen anything to make me want to ship this.

Henclair (Lucas x Dustin): y'all... they're so cute. Here me out, the fics, the fan art, the dynamics, it's amazing. They get a 5/10.

Lumax (Lucas x Max): 10/10, angel babies, would die for them. I need them to have a happy ending and if they don't, I won't have a happy ending

Elmax (Eleven x Max): they're so stinking cute, 9/10. As much as I love lumax, I think the dynamics of this ship and just the thought of it is perfection.

Madwheeler (Max x Mike): eh...no. 0/10. They are like the same person and would kill each other in any other scenario. However, platonically? Yes please!

Henfield (Max x Dustin): 4/10. They have potential but they both have such better ships.

Duzie (Dustin x Suzie): 9/10. I am a SUCKER for nerd x nerd ships and I need them to have at least one scene together. Just one. Like please duffers, I need to see them just once.

Stancy aka Stanky (Steve x Nancy): -10/10. I hate this ship so much. Nancy "I don't think my parents ever loved each other. My mom was younger and my dad was older with a cushy job and made good money. So they got married and bought a house at the end of a cul-de-sac and started their nuclear family" Wheeler would EVER settle down with 6 kids. Ever. There was 0 reason to bring back the love triangle. Let Steve move on and let Nancy be happy, Jesus 😭

Ronance (Nancy x Robin): 100/10. There's a reason this page is called ronancecats. I love them so much and even though they will never happen, it's fun to think about. Every piece of ronance fan art is gorgeous and the fics are everything to me. Plus, Natalia is like the president of the ronance shipping club. "All hail Natalia Dyer," we all say in unison.

Rockie/Rovickie (Robin x Vickie): 6/10. They're cute but they literally made Vickie an exact carbon copy of Robin and it's boring. I really hope they build on Vickie's character next season because they are boring and lack depth.

Stobin (Steve x Robin): absolutely not. Get out. -100000000/10. Robin. Is. A. Lesbian. She. Likes. Boobies. Not. Greasy. Men. They. Are. Platonic. Soulmates.

Steddie (Steve x Eddie): 4/10. Their fan art is cool and the dynamic I like, but I just can't get past it. I don't like them all that much.

Harringgrove (Steve x Billy): no thank you, no toxic ships here. 0/10.

Stonathan (Jonathan x Steve): hell yes. 9/10. I'm not even sure why but they are just perfect in my mind. The dynamics are there and the fan art is perfection, plus I just think the idea of them fighting over Nancy but then turning to each other is kinda cute.

Jargyle (Jonathan x Argyle) 8/10. I don't think about them much but whenever I do I love it. They're idiots but two idiots that are better together idk about y'all.

Neddie (Nancy x Eddie): Eddie can NOT handle all that (but I can) 0/10.

Hellcheer (Eddie x Chrissy): gives me the ick. I'm not ever sure why but they do and all their scenes just feel like there's no romantic undertones, at least to me. So 2/10.

Buckingham (Chrissy x Robin): this is what I'm talking about. A popular cheerleader having an existential crisis when she realizes she's a lesbian and not only that but realizes she's in love with the social outcast? Hell yes. 9/10. Give it to me.

Bancy (Nancy x Barb): 6/10. They are tragic.

Jopper (Joyce x Hopper): 10/10. My parents fr, they raised me. Everything about them makes me happy and I love them.

Boyce (Bob x Joyce): 7/10. Cuties and it's so obvious Bob cared about her and the kids. Jopper will forever be better but I can't ignore their cuteness.

just in time for s3 of dndads, let’s get into it! this one will probs be a lot but so much has happened in the past year 😭

- taylor LOVES chinese new year, he looks forward to it every year as the favorite (only) child and he eats all the dumplings he could ever eat and gets tons of red envelopes

- cassandra and morgan become best friends/mother-daughter relationship vibes post-doodler, like they are the most badass and cool women in the world and i do think taylor grows to love morgan so much and even though his relationships with nick/glenn are strained, at least he has the best mom and grandma

- as a voice actor for anime/cartoons i think cassandra really did fall in love w the art of anime and i’d love for her to guest at a con (make her the j michael tatum of her world PLEASE) and taylor gets a free ticket to weeb out as much as he wants <3

- in my heart glenn is trying his best, like he really wants that closeness (haha) and i think now post-doodler it's like literally what started as a father/son duo of him and nick now is genuinely a huge (kinda fucked up) family that is trying to mend itself and i do think it starts with chinese takeout !!!

- sidenote i think the close/foster/swifts etc are a great example of how freddie has subverted asian stereotypes fr and also how a family stuck in an absent/neglectful cycle has the ability to come together again

I’ve lessened on my keyboard warring over babyjack in the past year but I have not lessened in being a hater. and I’ve said this before, but the baby-jack au already breached headcanon containment a long time ago when it’s not only so widespread that ppl take it for canon and it makes having any intelligent conversation about him nearly fucking Impossible, but it also lead to harassment and accusations of being a fucking predator, to anyone who dared find a whole grown man attractive. any potential jack ship, like jackharper? automatic grooming case to them. it’s like the fandom is just so dead set on this idea that jack really truly is a child in every aspect you can think of, and for what? if it’s just a headcanon, something you know is not part of the actual show, then don’t go Travis the Chimp levels of apeshit when you see him being treated like he is canonically 💀

unpopular opinion numero 3 which is slightly connected to 2:

✯ baby-jack and a handful of the domestic au’s are BORING (see disclaimer again ⇧), not just on a surface level to my suiting, but also because I feel like it just ..misses the point of the show?

the ragtag untraditional found family is now as nuclear and traditional as the Atomic Age. Dean and Cas are the most heteronormative “who wears the pants in the relationship” gay couple ever, Sam is demoted to the uncle that gets written out of his own family, Jack is just there to make his gay dads look cute and emphasize that they’re a gay family (while still being very heteronormative), and at least 5 of them could be found in a California gated community. everything that made any of them unique or defined their personalities is just scrubbed off, even for an AU.

so much of the later seasons focus on Sam and Dean realizing that they don’t have to make a hard splitting decision between the lives they want to live; that they can find a balance; be happy and have good things—namely families—without giving up hunting (and vice versa, that they can have hunting without giving up on family or happiness). everybody loves the gay hunters from S10(?12?) and what they represented for Dean, but I almost never see that be put into practice in the fandom.

THEY’RE ALREADY DOMESTIC!!! AND WITH THAT PERFECT BALANCE!!!! Season 13 quite literally gave Team Free Will a surrogate son to raise and established them as a family; highly untraditional, largely dysfunctional, overall not fitting of a family family, and yet they are a family still. Dean wears an apron and cooks and bakes for everyone; he built himself a man cave and established two separate family night events that they all ritually keep up; Sam has a morning jogging routine and visits his girlfriend every so often; Jack was taught how to drive, has normal chores like washing dishes, and gets groceries. And they didn’t just have that while fighting monsters—they had that while fighting a whole fucking archangel. Even if it did go down the gutter by the end, they still had it: domestic familial bliss and violent messy hunting without having to trade one for the other.

✯ I truly genuinely think Jack’s relationship with Dean is the best, most interesting and most misunderstood out of the three, and I also think that the problems with his relationship to Cas and Sam are hugely overlooked by the fandom—granted they are very small, especially if you’re comparing it to Dean, but they’re still there and I think we should bully Cas and Sam about it more. I shan’t elaborate because it’s 5AM and this was an impulsive add-on ❤️

i love the debate of whether Mike should have long or short hair in s5! but i'll be a die hard defender of the long hair because

1.) it looks good okay, it suits him and the possibility of ponytails or Will brushing a hairstrand behind his ear are killing me in concept alone. but that's just personal preference, for me it's mainly 2.) it'd follow the Wheeler theme So Well, guysssss

bc i do like the concept of him cutting it in response to Eddies death. but listen, listen: the Wheeler's consistent themes with hair styling on the show okay.

Nancy's hair journey is a complete reflection of her personal growth as attested by the costume department. as she grows to be more independent and rejects the suburban cul-de-sac life her hair gets progressively shorter in every season while Also getting curlier. reject tradition and all, the haircut she had in s1 is Nothing like the one she has now

and Mike on the other hand goes in the opposite direction on the show. he starts s1 with your typical 80s-boy almost bowlcut but not 100% committed hairstyle and clothes his mom bought him. that's how his mom dressed and styled him - even commented on in universe with his little outfits from the GAP. and it's just like how Nancy also dressed to fit in the family. and then Mike's hair gets floofier and messier over the seasons, by s3 he still has the same haircut but it's overgrown and doesn't fall neatly or flat anymore. and then by season 4 where he finally starts to commit and rejects expectations for the first time and joins hellfire he has Long hair and it's length also makes it the waviest and curliest it's ever been

guys their hair journeys literally parallel each other in terms of character growth as of now. they both have less and less of the hairstyle they had in s1 as they reject their family's and the town's values. short neat haircut for boy and long wavy locks for girl were their starting points. classic nuclear family, gender roles, Reagan years. and now they're donning the shoulder length wavy hair for Mike and the short and crazy curly hair for Nancy. the Wheeler fashion seem to have a direct correlation between non-conformity and their hair defying the ideal conservative expectations of the time. and i love all possibilities i've seen suggested for Mike's hair, but following this pattern Mike should either have a similar hair length to s4 or longer/curlier to show him fully rejecting the expectations placed on him

because this hair showing development phenomena is Such a big thing even Karen fits that family styling 😭

from wavy brunette, to suddenly bleach blonde and then BAM curls out of nowhere. and all over her independence/cheating/plot relevancy story line

growing your hair to a style that's not alligned with what's seen as "tidy" or "ideal" is literally a Wheeler family moment and it's HILARIOUS

I don't take issue with friends cause as far as we know for sure that's all they are and I can see their friendship outside of the romance I think they have but I take issue with brothers because I think their relationship objectively doesn't read as siblings. DHMIS at it's core, is a parody of children's educational puppet shows. During most of the time periods that these puppet shows were produced, homophobia was deeply DEEPLY ingrained into society to the point that portraying gay characters on children's television was viewed as something immoral and inappropriate. Like Sesame Street has been on TV for 53 years, and only featured gay characters (two dads!) in 2021.

Even in the new series, there's a lot of commentary on how society views the traditionally nuclear family unit as being the only 'true' type of family there can be. The twin's entire motivation and 'lesson' seemed to be: There's a mom, a dad, kids, and a few various other family members that matter much less than 'real' members. After all, an uncle is like an extra-cheeky father, but weaker, and in the distance. Non-nuclear families don't count, and friend groups can't be family in the narrative. And that changes at the end of the episode (momentarily) and is quickly dropped by the start of the next.

It doesn't surprise me at all that the only time Duck and Red were able to have a tender moment together was when the power was out. No cameras, Lesley distracted, no audience to preform for. They were out of the limelight, and, in turn, they could exist authentically without fear of censorship or backlash from the audience or risk of being punished for perceived 'inappropriate' behavior on a TV show that's supposed to be 'family friendly' because as we all know, gay people existing is somehow inherently sexual (/s)

DHMIS is a deeply unsettling, gory, psychologically traumatizing show that parodies children's TV. There can be full-on beheading and cannibalism on screen, fully lit. 1) Inoichi's Office: so the vault is actually a vault. Like a real vault, seperate from the bricks and plaster etc. Think:

But obviously the size of an actual room. It's engraved, which is where Kushina was invaluable... I like to think of Minato as being the erratic paper nin because Jiraiya was such a hair-brained tutor whilst Kushina was taught in a more well rounded way, including fuinjutsu with different mediums, and she helped him engrave his special Kunai so that's how they started dating, IMO... Also I like the idea of Kushina in a forge with her chakra chains whilst Minato is like an obsessive bookworm haha

In my version of Konoha's village planning, T&I is in the same 'Quarter' as the hospital, which was untouched by the Kyuubi attack, so the building has remained intact the whole time. However, if T&I was destroyed, the vault would survive and be reinstalled in the new office. If Nagato levelled Konoha, Inoichi's vault would survive because Kushina is THAT good. Shisui's not wrong in thinking the vault is the safest place in Konoha, it's basically a nuclear bunker.

2) Kushina and Minato's friends: frankly - and I agree that it's mainly the fault of the way the series was written - these two ended up feeling like the kind of people that everyone has lovely things to say about... After they're gone. When they were alive, you could count their real friends on one hand. And there's a very good reason for this, tbh;

Kushina: she was, like, 10 when she came to Konoha and we know she struggled to adjust. She probably left a lot of her childhood friends behind, she was introduced to Mikoto through their parents, and she clashed with missing her own culture AND not adjusting instantly to Konoha's culture. Konoha is.... clique-y and Kushina was very boisterous about being proudly Uzushi AND Uzumaki. It's like going to killer-in-training school with a foreign princess who has made it clear she hates it here- oh wait, that's not a metaphor.

Adding in my HC that the Uzumaki are Matriarchal and the canonical fact that Konoha treats it's Kunoichi like SHIT, you're looking at Kushina not being very... Social butterfly. She's got Mikoto and that's it, at school. Outside of school, she definitely spends all of her time with Mito and family, and she spends a lot of time with the Fuinjutsu Guild... But there's distance there. Kushina has left home, where she's the Kage-equivalent's daughter (Mito's her great-aunt) BUT was surrounded by family + home... to a place where the social distance between average Konohan people and an 'Uzumaki Princess' isn't being respected but IS being respected by Uzushio-migrants etc. So Kushina is pissed because she's clashing with the Konohans BUT kept distanced from her own people except for, like, Mito, Tsunade, and Mikoto. Add in the turmoil of being a Jinchuuriki down the line and Kushina is known by everyone but close to very few.

Minato: he starts off as literally nobody. He's like a faceless kid in the BG of main character shots, the ones the artists do really quickly so he looks kinda trod on. He's an orphan and he has a last name... To a civilian clan that's completely cut off from him. He grows up in the orphanage and goes to the academy with nothing of his own. Minato is hollow-cheeked and dirty-fingernailed and Naruto is so, so, much like his father in more than just colouring, it's tragic. But Minato is a bookworm, he only has his brain to rely on, and he's got average chakra, no heritage to speak of.

So he studies, he claws himself upwards with a warm smile and a silenced voice. He's nobody, no friends in school, until they're old enough to be doing exams and suddenly he's the top of every class. No one knows who he is, craning their necks for the so-called Rookie of the Year- and Jiraiya is given a team, team seven with the usual Rookie who is a no named orphan. Jiraiya isn't built to be a teacher but Minato doesn't have a clan or family to complain about teaching methods and fairness. By the time he's built a life for himself, how is he going to make friends? He's friends with his colleagues. Inoichi, Shikaku, Chouza, he's tentative allies with Fugaku, he's done time in ANBU (he's fast, Jiraiya taught him fuinjutsu because that's what Jiraiya is willing to talk about, and he's useful but not irreplaceable... Of course Minato was ANBU) and he knows Sakumo, promises to tutor the war hero's son, gets an apprentice, starts making more and more waves...! Becomes Hokage, takes his guards under his wing because, well, he sees them more than most people and that's how you make friends, right?

It's lonely at the top but it's fucking lonely the whole way up there as well when you come from nothing and few see you until it's too late.

So... No, I don't think Kushina and Minato had a lot of friends 👀

3) Sealings presents: considering that ^^ unintentional rant (😅), the few people close to them both would have presents, I'm sure. Raidou inherited all of Minato's notes, Mikoto probably has almost all of Kushina's personal effects but 90% is sealed up for Naruto (fuck you, Sarutobi). I imagine that Mikoto's blades all have engravings for sharpness and strength and chakra conduction in them... Let's say that Shikaku's shogi board was also a gift from Minato, just a nice normal board 🤷 I haven't thought too much about it, tbf

4) did Hiromi know Kushina? Absolutely, Hiromi was the ANBU tattooist for decades before her husband popped off the mortal coil and she renovated his leather shop. She would've been prominent in the Guild, which is unfortunately on it's very last legs these days. It's literally dying of old age, the art is losing a lot of traction in Konoha (everyone wants a big exploding Jutsu, or they give up after learning a barrier seal... No one wants to devote three decades to an apprenticeship with half that time spent mixing ink or smelting fine silver trinkets or embroidery because that's not battlefield glory 🙄) Hiromi was one of Mito's 'inner circle', the first Uzushi who immigrated alongside her when she married Hashirama, so she would've known Kushina quite closely from her arrival.

Perseus wanted to know who did it, and after two weeks they grabbed my girlie off the street. Annika was like “Oh fuck the KGB got me. I’m either gonna be in the Gulag or an oblong box.” So she decided to ‘negotiate’ for death. Meaning: She’d piss them off so much they kill her so doesn’t get sent to the Gulag. She shit-talked the entire structure of the Soviet government and their incompetence of handling the West’s threats. Annika said that’s why she killed them, for what the father’s ignorance.

Perseus believed that Annika killed them for the father’s incompetence, and not because she was paid good money for it. Nobody found out she was bullshitting until 2 years after she became an operator 💀

TLDR: Abbey gave the man responsible for her and her friend’s brainwashing severe chronic pain for the rest of his life by shooting him 6 times, then saving him.

Definitely the least morally repugnant person out of the trinity. I think we all know who the worst person is 💀

I’m getting lazy, and there’s too much to unpack with the last one, so I’m gonna limit it to two paragraphs max.

Just take the TLDR, and I’ll tell you the aftermath. Abbey arrests him and takes him into custody. They asked her how she didn’t manage to land any lethal shots on him out of the 8 shots she fired. Abbey just tells them “He’s a lucky guy” instead of telling them she intentionally save him so he would have to deal with the pain for the rest of his life.

Nobody believed Abbey, obviously, but they thought she saved him out of the goodness of her heart. They didn’t know that Abbey had so much hatred for the man that she thought death was too merciful for him. If she gave him a critical injury, he’d be recovering from it for the rest of his life, even if he escaped.

Dude I need to get better at shortening posts. This is the shortened version. I feel like I just wrote the declaration of independence. Nobody’s gonna make it this far. 💀

(M:I Dead Reckoning spoilers) I am being so normal about this movie and definitely have not scrawled out several pages worth of meta. So normal.

Okay, one thing - absolutely fascinated by all the narrative rhyming/repetion in Dead Reckoning. I think there’s a lot that maps directly to the first movie, among others:

The presence of Kittridge, as well as the general “hey both middle management and upper management in the intelligence community fucking suck but at least they’re not working together on it”

Bringing back the specific role/family of Max and Alanna/White Widow, along with heavy implication that Ethan’s slept with both of them to strengthen his bargaining position

Really specific editing style focusing on close ups and Dutch tilts - not sure if the constant passing off of dialogue between characters is an editing reference as well?

Someone Ethan Hunt cares about has a death scene on a bridge

we’re on a train now, choo choo motherfuckers

Ethan showing off his close-up magic skills

And then there’s all the parallels within M:I7 itself (maybe so that people who haven’t watched the previous movies will still get the same effect? which is. wild):

Ethan and Kittridge using each other’s dialogue, mainly “this is me listening” and “do exactly as I say”

Benji keeping information from Ethan to keep him focused, both with the presence of the airport bomb and the cliff leading up to the train 

Ilsa and Paris getting stabbed in the same spot by the same person (with the same weapon?)

Planting the keys on an unsuspecting courier (Grace’s fellow airplane passenger and Zola)

Ethan’s retroactively fridged woman Marie and Grace’s name on her (presumably real) passport starting with Mar-

Interested to see if this is going to fall into rule of threes, with all of these repeated elements coming back again in part 2, or if it’s meant to signal that elements which weren’t repeated are prime candidates for showing up again. If it’s the latter, fingers crossed for a couple things:

Listen, I have more or less graduated from why would they fridge Ilsa i hate this she deserved better to at least if she died she died with honor - but STILL. If Phelps wasn’t dead and Paris isn’t dead then there’s still a chance for her and I want her back 😭

Creating false targets to essentially make someone attack themselves probably works on an AI as well as it does on a Russian submarine crew

So much of Ethan and Grace’s dialogue could come back in amazingly painful ways

If the next movie is Ethan’s last entry in M:I, the way the car chase keeps forcing Grace back into the driver’s seat and Ethan out of it is peak foreshadowing

Some payoff for the nuclear bomb in the airport, which seems like an oddly extraneous scene if we’re looking at this movie on its own

(Entirely possible that I have missed either a bunch of stuff or the entire point of this movie. In which case, feel free to correct me <3)

one of my chlm pet peeves is when they start having a nuclear family. yes childe would love it but lumine is not gonna be staying in teyvat long enough to settle down, much less have kids and start a family 😭

like yeah maybe it’s wish fulfillment or whatever but i just can’t see lumine (or aether) permanently staying in teyvat to settle down with anyone (and even if they were originally from teyvat, i still don’t think it will happen)

Unfortunately Gazzy served no purpose to the series. There is no part of his character that doesn’t exist somewhere else in the flock.

true 😭 i mean you could literally get rid of everyone except max, fang, and angel and the plot probably wouldn't suffer. the dynamic would, though, because james patterson would only know how to write it as "nuclear family except the parents are 14"

gazzy's not really a fan favorite on here but he has some good moments. personally i headcanon him as being lactose intolerant and the flock is too young/ignorant to figure that out lol. also i want to headcanon that he changes his fucking name at some point in his teen years but i haven't thought that through. either that or he has a villain origin story and starts making REAL toxic gases/chemicals. that would be something.
