the thing about writing hilson fic is that, like. nothing i can ever come up with could be as unhinged as the canonical events within the show. i can write wilson as quietly manipulative and repressed as i want, and it still won't hold a candle's flame to his in-show characterization. he's a chronic liar whose only truth is his love for house. i can make house as loudly lonely as i want, and again it cannot compare to his in-show characterization. he burns every bridge he has so long as wilson can stay by his side. their codependency has no canonical limits or bounds. the threat of federal prison or divorce or removal of licenses doesn't faze them enough to change; nothing does except for the threat of death. writing hilson is like being given free rein to write insanity on their unhinged landscape, so long as they're both written true to their own Desires and whack moral codes. because, again, anything i could write will still pale in comparison to the actual show

I'm really not vibing with whatever staff is doing now. Not only does there seem to be a total internal communication breakdown, there also seems to be an absolute disregard for how the players are affected by this.

Like, ignoring the fact that the consistency argument doesn't even hold water, their takeaway from the Fern/Paisley thread seems to have been "oh we gotta change Breakup and Hypnotic too!!"

And then completely reversing Sandsurge Blend on top of that? A gene that's been out for over half a year and was only listed as having the gradient softened, not reversed? Just a total failure to communicate and an absolute bullheadedness in pushing the changes through despite the very reasonable player concerns?

To top it all off, none of these are bug changes, they are style changes. Someone saw these genes before they went live, greenlighted them, and put them in the game. And now, months upon months later, someone else (presumably) says "fuck that, I want the gene to look like this instead" and that complete change is just... pushed through??

Like. Did they learn nothing from the Butterfly debacle, from Obelisk Flair, hell, from the Eyepocalypse?

Which is kind of why they're pretty careless about danger outside of combat, they just, quite literally, cannot be bothered to care less. If they die? Then their souls would just be thrusted into a clone body.

They didn't just cheat death, they walked all over it, spat on it, and continued walking over it a multitude of times.

Which accidently became a plus for Danny and his secret identity.

See, when Danny went ghost to save the day, he came back only to find his body gone. Safe to say, he panicked and looked everywhere for it, or tried to at least, because if that got out he wouldn't really know how to deal with it.

Only to then learn his parents hid and are quite literally experts at hiding bodies, his included.

Jack and Maddie are quite happy that they were the ones who stumbled upon Danny's body and not anyone else, since it would take a quite long amount of explanation as to why their son was found dead yet seemingly walked to school fine hit Monday!

Well, they weren't happy he died really, as any parent wouldn't be, but they're glad they prepared extra bodies for both him and Jazz in case the day ever came.

Danny awkwardly slid himself into said excuse while trying not to externally freak the fuck out. But hey, at least it's a plus that whenever his parents find his corpse they just, hid it no questions asked.

Good, it would be so weird if anyone managed to find either of their multiple corpses.

But hey! At least Jazz hasn't died yet!

the king had forsaken everything he ever did and fled into his dreams leaving only his dead selfdom and unheard repentance, littering the land in the forms of statues and black eggs and failed tramways and dead children. his corpse somewhere at the end of the world where you can follow his spine to the top and then back, his dreams locked so tightly behind his shame you have to shatter numerous other stories around you just to gain access to his, an act parallel to his reign and his life. you have to fight and you have to demand to get to the pinnacle of what he was so ashamed of and it was love, it stained the sacrifices everyone made in his name, once done with resolution and trust now in vain. the king had a clear beginning, peak, and ending whether in dream or death it wont matter because now he's gone, and the world moved on without him and despite him.

the queen is still there. she imprisoned herself and had a limited view of what was happening on the outside but she knew enough to tell that the plan she played such a big part in has failed. yet somehow, within minutes of meeting you after so long down in her paralyzed kingdom she asks you to do it all over again. the fate of her kingdom is up to you and she makes that clear. she reminisces the past and she does not acknowledge its death. the king's story had an ending, you could argue that he gave it to himself. the queen's is in limbo, she absolutely gave it to herself. you could not change her mind and neither could flowers. and you could not make her face what she has done.

i'm the first to agree that the 523498234 different ancient gene scrolls are ruining many functions and areas of the site but i don't know whyyyy people keep jumping to the marketplace as the first example of how they're clogging up pages when the marketplace is in fact the one and only place where you actually can filter out ancient genes?

marketplace has had filtering since march 2021! you just click the magnifying glass to search & filter! (the same revamp also very helpfully split the old specialty tab up into the 3 different specialty, genes, and scenes/vistas tabs, which the AH and hoard all still DESPERATELY need on top of the ability to filter ancient genes out)

That Lava Lamp’s big arc has been seeing himself as the cause for all the problems in the world, and so he has to fight Himself as the final conflict. So Fai and Kurogane get the confrontation with Evil Wolverine here, as they’re in a Much More Direct View of How He Has Hurt Them Specifically and want to make things even. C:

AND JUST THE. The sheer joy? That Evil Wolverine set them up as enemies, set Fai up specifcally to KILL Kurogane, and planning for him to die as well, and yet here they are? Facing him together? Alive and IN LOVE? Flirting to rub it all in?

Flirting as a sign of defiance?

To show that actually he's not that great, and his plans resulted in THIS? In these easy enemies choosing EACH OTHER and saving themselves from him?

That all his plans only proved how little he could understand them, or what they would do, or what they would CHOOSE? That he didn't accurately predict ANYONE well enough to have the plan work out how he wanted?

That his greatest plan of all time failed and ended up with them in love and standing here, at the centre of it all, and insulting him to his face?

And like Kurogane says, that HE'S the prey now? That Evil Wolverine always thinks he's in control but now they've turned the dynamic around on him instead?

That they're quite specifically here to kill him? TOGETHER?

I just can't get enough of it.

Hey, might be a bit of an odd question. Have you had a chance to dive into Starfield? Will there be a Buttons IN SPAAACCCCEEE!?

I'll be honest, I've seen a bit of Starfield (Cam bought it) and I'm not impressed. Can't say I've expected anything different either unfortunately, with how Bethesda has been conducting business lately. I don't feel any particular way about it and I doubt I'll be playing it anytime soon.
