I finished watching Hannibal. I can’t believe it. Now I know why this fandom has never stopped waiting for a season 4 and I am right there with you. How could they taunt us with the possibility of them surviving the fall to find Bedelia and then not have another season 😭. I may be betraying my roots here but I think Hannibal has officially become my favourite show and of course Hannigram to go with that as my favourite ship. There is just so much to them and the show is beautiful, I can’t believe I spent so much time being too scared to watch it what a fool I was.

something i absolutely adore about Scavenger's Reign is that despite the show being inside a nature completely unfamiliar to us, the nature is still nature. I got the same sense of deep echoing wonder from watching the stampede scene and the insect scene (both with Levi, Levi is best bot) as I do going to my nearest park and listening to the trees. The peaceful creatures are peaceful, the predatory ones don't threaten the characters unless the characters are already in a position that the predator would already threaten (like with the weird crustacean thing in the underwater pod).

And it all interacts with everything else just like our own planet, too. It all makes sense. Those giant white tubes are there to disperse lightning during storms, the weird baby-creature thing with Kamen have a symbiotic relationship with the worms, etc etc.

It's such a viscerally beautiful show and I cannot get enough of it.

cannot help myself so gushing a bit more about the characterization on ofts:

it is easy to demand communication on where everyone stands with each other when a series tells the viewer how the characters actually feel. what is so great about ofts and what might make it frustrating for some in how everyone treats each other, is that quite often the characters don't know themselves?

take NickBoston: Boston made it fairly clear what relationship he wants from Nick - but he broke his own rule and kept seeing Nick after he felt like Nick was in love with him -> and I'd argue their might be affection in play on Boston's side (besides him being egoistic about it). Because fuck-buddies, fwb, lovers are nice categories, but sometimes you do find yourselves somewhere in between.

take TopMew: are they both in love with each other or did they project something they wanted onto each other and it is this image they are in love with? -> it might be both. Mew said his heart flutters when he's with Top. Is that love? Is it infatuation? Pure physical attraction? Mew thinks it's love.

and most interestingly RayMew: I don't think Mew is consciously deliberatedly using Ray. He is a bit lost with what he thought love was. To him not feeling something 2 years ago when kissing might after all not mean that he couldn't feel something for Ray now? And clearly he misjudged Top, so maybe his friendzoning of Ray might be wrong as well? I don't think he is able to vocalize what he wants from Ray and whether that is a relationship, because I don't think HE knows. So he will try and see (and possible hurt Ray and himself more in the process, but I think that is neither his intention nor an outcome he actually anticipates)

I can't blame the characters for not vocalizing accurately what they want from other people and how they feel about it. Because they aren't sure themselves, so all they can do is chossing to be more or less honest with themselves and others about an approximation to it. And it leaves space for changing feelings.
