DPXDC Prompt #58 Part 1

His parents studied ghosts. Danny didn’t understand as a kid why everyone made fun of his parents. Now that he was 12, the thought was ludicrous and yet his parents continued their work on the portal. Danny had his sister Jazz though and the siblings were rather close. 

Jazz had spent a lot of time studying lately stating that she wanted to get into a good college. Danny understood he did, but being alone sucked and he couldn’t help it as he sighed kicking a pebble down the sidewalk. 

It was a nice hot summer day, the kind of day you’d want to spend at the beach or a pool. Danny however had other ideas. He was on the way to the local library. If Jazz was going to spend her summer studying for the ACTs then Danny was going to study what he wanted, Space. He quickly found a few books and got settled into a chair as he read. Space really was fascinating, he hoped one day his dream of becoming an astronaut would come true. 

An hour or so passed before Danny was interrupted, “what are you reading?” The voice started Danny out of his trance as he looked up at his interrupter. A boy about the same age as Danny with the same black hair and blue eyes that Danny had. His skin was more tan than Danny’s own pale white. 

Danny fidgeted in his seat for a moment before answering, “Astronomy: guide to the stars” Sure, Danny knew the text was college level but he already read all the ones for high and middle school. 

Damian seemed to hum thoughtfully with a hand on his chin before speaking again, “the book you're reading seems advanced, you seem smarter than your age would dictate. Father has requested that I visit the library and try to ‘make a friend or two’ in his words. I don’t see the need for companionship but if I must I’d rather it be with someone intelligent. My name is Damian.” It was a bit much but Danny guessed from what Damian said that he was complementing Danny. 

“Uh, Danny… I guess most of the people in my family are pretty smart.” He replied after a moment. 

Danny thought it was odd that someone wanted to be friends with him. Everyone at the public elementary school he went to knew who his parents were so they wanted nothing to do with him. It was lonely but Danny didn’t mind it too much, but Damian didn’t act like he knew Danny’s Parents. The thought of having a friend that didn’t judge him for who his parents were made Danny a little excited. 

“What occupation do your parents have?” It was a simple question with a not so simple answer. 

Oh, Danny’s heart stuttered a little bit at the thought of Damian knowing anything about. He didn’t want to lie, especially to his new friend but he didn’t want to tell him the truth. 

“Uh, they’re scientists but I don’t really know what they do…” Danny said carefully and slowly. He was sure Damian bought it. 

The two spent the next couple hours just talking in the library. It had started to get late and Damian needed to head back home. 

“Do you own your own phone?” Damian asked, it wasn’t uncommon, for most kids in his class had a cheap hand me down phone for emergencies. Danny unfortunately didn’t as his parents probably didn’t care where he was.

Danny shrugged, “not really, I could borrow my sisters but it really only gets used for emergencies.” 

Damian seemed to frown at this thinking for a moment before nodding as if he came to a conclusion, “my brother Todd has mentioned that it’s hard for low income houses to afford something I’d consider a necessity in this city. You do know how high the crime rate is, yes?” Danny nodded but he didn’t know what that had to do with having a phone Damian cleared his throat before continuing, “as you are now my friend I’d like to offer to purchase one for you.”

Danny hadn’t owned anything like a phone before, “a-are you sure? I don’t really need one, my parents don’t really… care?” He felt uncomfortable with his new friend spending money on him, Damian seemed like an important person especially with the clothes he wore and how he carried himself. Danny felt like he’d be taking advantage of his new friend if he bought Danny a phone. Danny closed the book he was holding and took a breath before speaking again, “I appreciate the offer but I wouldn’t have anything to offer you in return.” He let his gaze fall to the cover of the book, a swirling galaxy on a black background and bold yellow text. 

“I would not have offered it if I wasn’t sure.” Damian stated firmly causing Danny’s head to snap back up, “I do not need anything in return, however if you really intend to pay me back, Father has insisted that I bring a friend home sometime. Since we have established that we are friends I insist that you come visit every so often to, as Richard puts it ‘get him off my back’.” It sounded like a simple request but Danny was unsure. If Damian was someone important then his family was bound to be even more important. 

He took a moment to think about it, but Jazz would be happy Danny finally made a friend…

“Alright, I accept,” Danny said as they shook hands. It might have been a little childish but he could tell he made some sort of bond with Damian. 

After that they had quickly become friends. Once Danny had become accustomed to being in the Wayne house he basically became family, and was often visiting, especially to eat Mr. Pennyworths cooking. Mr. Wayne also seemed fond of Danny, he even offered to pay for Danny to go to Gotham Academy along with Damian. Danny had been hesitant at first but Damian quickly wore him down. Tim eventually wormed his way into the group as he and Danny bonded over the latest video game releases. Soon Jazz got roped into the group too as she started to visit the manor to get away from how noisy the lab got. 

A couple years had passed since the day that started the road to their friendship and the four of them had really bonded since then. Unfortunately their parents had finished the portal and its here where things go downhill for Danny.

In the next one Danny dies and all 4 of them are deeply traumatized.

Damian saw his dad doing research on the Fenton family, Bruce is just looking out for potential rouges and Damian took the opportunity to become friends with Danny. He figured that he could just bribe Danny into being his friend like all the kids at his school try but Danny is a lil cinnamon roll. Taken aback from how sweet Danny is Damian decided that Danny really was smart and worth being a friend. Tim has the same thoughts especially as Danny starts visiting the mansion more. Jazz loved that Danny had a spot to go where people seemed to actually care about him and she eventually gets dragged into the group. You can only drop off your brother at the Wayne’s so often before you get dragged into the group as well and I thought Tim and Jazz can be the same age and can bond over being older siblings.

Lady Gotham

When Danny Fenton moved to Gotham for university the city noticed.

After all, before Lady Gotham was Gotham she was Samantha Manson.

It all started with the Nasty Burger explosion.

Mr. Lancer, Mrs. and Mr. Fenton, Jazz, Danny, Tucker, and Sam were all there. One moment, Danny was being confronted about cheating on his career aptitude test and the next all Sam could see was the familiar toxic green of the Ghost Zone.

Sam's first thought was did anyone survive? and her second was i need to find Danny.

She wasn't sure of the fate of anyone caught in the explosion, for all she knew she could've been the only one to die (unlikely), and if not that the only one to form into a ghost (sadly, plausible).

With worst case scenarios flooding her head, Sam began looking for anything familiar in the Zone. She'd never been without the infi-map before and now that she didn't have it she was lost.

She never had a chance of finding Danny because she fell into a portal after she'd barely begun searching.

When Sam became aware again, she found herself in a world similar to her home, but very different at the same time.

The times were different, this world barely in the 1700s. She was in a different location, somewhere in the northeast, but she couldn't tell exactly where yet. And most importantly, the world seemed more magical than the one she came from.

Of course, she tried to get home, but there were no natural portals opening up and no matter how hard she tried she couldn't make them herself.

After spending 20 years, more time than she had lived in her home dimension, in what had come to be named Gotham, Sam had settled down. She made friends with a family named the Waynes and though she would never forget Danny and Tucker she had an afterlife in this new dimension now too.

Sam protected the city best she could from anything that tried to harm it, making it her own haunt. Eventually the people around town started calling her The Lady of Gotham, later shortened to just Lady Gotham.

A century after joining the world, Sam was cursed and by extension Gotham was cursed too. She could no longer speak, and while she still tried her best to protect the city from outside harm there was nothing she could do about the corruption within.

She watched over the Waynes inside the limits of her haunt, them having become her family in this new world. And in return the Waynes tried to keep Gotham the best place it could be, attempting to keep it from becoming a cesspool.

Sam did her best, she did what she could and in return Gothamites had a certain pride in their city.

"It's terrible, but it's home" was the general sentiment shared by the citizens.

Soon enough the times were approaching to when she had been alive, and a new generation of Waynes emerged in her streets. When she failed to protect Martha and Thomas, Sam felt sorrow and let the shadows gather around Bruce to show him she was grieving too.

He left, but as many Gothamites did he came back. And when he came back it was with vengeance.

Her streets were more corrupt than they had ever been before, but Bruce came in like a knight in shining armor. No—not shining, but dark. Dark and jagged, but home and just as much a part of Gotham as Sam herself.

With Bruce becoming Batman, his partners weren't far behind. First Dick, then Babs, Jason, Tim, Steph, Cass, Damian, and Duke. And with so many Waynes, not in blood but in everything that mattered, trying to save her Sam felt more loved than ever before.

And then she felt a Danny Fenton, older than her's had ever gotten to be at 18-years-old, enter the streets. Sam, for the first time in forever, she longed for what could have been.

That night, the skies were clearer and the streets were quieter as Sam held on to Danny through the shadows and didn't let go.

Her knights wouldn't mind one more addition, she hoped.

DpxDc AU: What’s an adoption paper or two between bros?

Danny is starting to realize that since Jazz left the house for university, his parents aren’t really good at well, being his parents. They’re obsessed with his alter ego to the point that they ignore his normal ego, and that uh, hurts his feelings. Like, a lot. Meal times have gotten weirder and more inconsistent, and he’s starting to wonder if they suspect what’s really going on with him.

They’ve started to say “You know you can tell us anything” these days when he sees them outside their lab (which isn’t frequent) but the normal amount of ghost hate speech hasn’t changed. If anything it’s gotten worse. Just like everything else.

Danny joined the whole-ass justice league to fill his spare time after high school and his parents are literally none the wiser. Like, he's a part time high-school senior at 17 and a full time international hero. His parents only comment on the fact that the menace Phantom is costing them a lot in airline tickets as they try and apprehend him all over the world. Hell, they caught Ellie for a second when he was in Morrocco and it got ugly fast. She's a junior member now but mostly spends her time with some doofus that has a magic traveling house.

And really, he's fine with his schedule of going to school, going ghost and making a difference, and then returning to a dramatically silent house. Really.

Then one day his new friend and co-team lead Red Robin makes a brief mention about his own childhood of neglect and Danny makes a joke, "What, no adoption papers for the homies?"

He laughs as he says it but something in his leader's eyes looks sharp, and Kon is sighing in the background something that sounds suspiciously like dear Rao you've done it now.

Next time Danny is on the Watchtower, he's brought into a meeting with Red Robin, Batman and various other JL team leaders.

"Adoption papers are very much for the homies. I've also included the option of emancipation, as you'll see in the green folder, but I am one hundred percent serious about adopting you."

"Red, you're like, 3 months younger than me." Danny deadpans.

"Adoption is for the homies and I'm emancipated. And If i'm reading Batman correctly, you're facing three outcomes right now."

"Three?"

"One: I adopt you and you become my legal dependent. Two: Batman adopts you and I become your legal brother. or Three: You emancipate yourself while allowing us to provide for you while your housing situation is sorted out."

"... Uh. Door one?" Danny is having too many feelings. Why does batman look disappointed? What is Jazz going to say? What on earth???

"Welcome to the Drake Family." Red shakes his hand up and down, the grin on his face feral and the plan towards being emancipated from the Fentons and adopted by his boss is a weird one.

But eventually, a few weeks later, he's had a pretty delicious dinner by his new adoptive grandfather-tler and is watching a movie with Tim and Kon on the couch and he's just so happy and comfortable and warm...

"Will this make Kon my dad if you two get married?" Danny laughs and it's the closest he gets to being disowned.

I'd think one of them would be named Elijah, like Ellie takes a strong liking to one, claims them and dubs them that, Eli for short

I feel like as clones keep wracking up they get different temperaments for seeing the situation

The first one knows he was sent to replace Damian, and then gets swiped, and so is a lot more adiment about taking his place, the second another clone shows up the first one is upset he's been replaced and the second one is just kinda, confused, why would they bother with another, and just feels kinda weird having so many, would they keep going if he ever made a mistake, how many are flitting around, and why did this clone decide to stay, by the third capture the new clone just guesses this is how it is, the other clones seemed to be chill, I guess this is just happening now, by the fourth time ra tells them the other 3 went missing before reaching Damian and so is super frustrated and pissed off that they're disobeying, and the 5th doesn't get directly caught, 4th one kicks up a massive fuss and the Danny's have their hands full with him so the clones with some consultation from jazz follow the 5th and plays mind games with him, pretending to be villains, or just generally being silly with him and turning him around whenever he gets close to the manor(courtesy of dan after he stepped out cause he was getting a bit too worked with the 4th, and so 5th just goes around, explores, has his little adventures and gains an adventurous free spirit, ending up as a low level vigilante, like he'll see someone get mugged and he'd stop it, and after a while he's introduced to the fam once 4th settles down, and for the 6th that comes shortly after, the 5th is determined to change his mind and show him a better way, after seeing 5 perfect clones all chilling and hearing 5th talk about better options he becomes doubtful and hears 5th out, reforming and melting into the family, and becoming the most affectionate of the group, 7th has been given every weapon under the sun to track down and eliminate whatever keeps eliminating the other clones, he's incredibly jumpy and paranoid cause 6 other clones have been swallowed up by whatever this organization is, his nerves spike at the slightest things sometimes, and then Danny finds him while walking with sam and Tucker, and Tucker notices how jittery and stressed the poor guy is so asks to buy him some tea, and it stresses him out cause what if it's the gang, he can't fight him, it may be a normal man and draw attention to himself, he can't run, that's not honourable, and he needs to eliminate the gang when he sees it cause it'll be a threat until he does, and so after a long time of looking like he's about to cry he accepts and the teas fine and they just seem nice, and definitely not able to best him if they do fight him, the gang show him cool stuff and calm him down, and he carries on, slower than the previous clones from how alert he is, and Tucker and his friends keep meeting and chatting and he quite likes him, he clears his mind, makes him less freaked out, and he eventually asks him to come over to a public restaurant to meet some family his age in town, and it was free food so he agreed, he ends up face to face with every clone, and just bursts out laughing in relief, cause they've all been hanging out this whole time, and so he joins the frey, as the affectionate but stressy one, kinda like a mix between Tim and tweek, and with the 8th one he's been tasked with just going to the manner but they put a tracker on him, he meets the gang, they fight, they talk, and through the 7th he finds out that he was basically sent to die so Ra could find out what was talking his clones, ending up vengeful he, teaming with 7th, who's under tuckers wing, starts plotting to sabotage Ra, 8th takes after dan a lot so they talk, he also has a complex about being expendable and uncared for, is super close to 6th

For the first clone his names hektor

Second one is Liam, the most patient, chill, level headed and inquisitive of the bunch

Third is Eli, cause he takes after Ellie in his 'i guess this is happening' attitude, along with hid chill, fun, silly and chaos vibes

4th is Ricky, the thrashiest of the bunch, someone just called him that one time after a scuffle and it stuck, he hates it for how informal it is, (it's secretly growing on him)

5th calls himself Waylon for finding his way in life and for the journey he went on and his adventurous travel

6th is named sunny cause he's incredibly beloved by the fam, and all the Danny's yell, SON, before running over to him and loving on him, he often goes the extra mile to be sweet to his family, everyone adores him

7ths name is Isaac, he read the Bible and resonated a ton with Issac from the Bible story

8th wanted to be called inego Montoya after watching the movie, but found that stealing his name would be living in his shadow, so payed homage by calling himself Diego

Oregon - Yet To Be - 1975 Ralph Towner - guitar, piano Collin Walcott - percussion, sitar Paul McCandless - reeds Glen Moore - bass  Oregon is an American jazz and world music group, formed in 1970 by Ralph Towner, Paul McCandless, Glen Moore, and Collin Walcott Towner and Moore had been friends and occasional collaborators since meeting in 1960 as students at the University of Oregon. By 1969, both were working musicians living in New York; while collaborating with folksinger Tim Hardin they were introduced to world music pioneer Paul Winter's "Consort" ensemble, particularly member Collin Walcott, with whom Towner began improvising as an informal duo. By 1970 Towner and Moore had joined the Winter Consort and met fellow member McCandless; the four began exploring improvisation on their own, while their contributions continued to be seminal in redefining the Winter Consort "#sound" in compositions like Towner's "#Icarus". The four musicians made their first group recording in 1970, but the label, Increase Records, went out of business before it could be released (it eventually was issued by Vanguard in 1980 as Our First Record). Oregon made its "formal" debut in New York City in 1971 (originally named "Thyme — Music of Another Present Era", the name change to Oregon was suggested by McCandless). The group's first release Music of Another Present Era was issued on Vanguard in 1972 (the four also recorded for ECM, though the recording, 1973's Trios Solos, was billed as "Ralph Towner with Glen Moore"). With those initial recordings and the follow-ups Distant Hills (1973) and Winter Light (1974) (all on Vanguard), Oregon established itself as one of the leading improvisational groups of its day, blending Indian and Western classical music with jazz, folk, space music and avant-garde elements.The group released numerous albums on Vanguard throughout the 1970s, also making three records for Elektra/Asylum between 1978 and 1980 (including the highly acclaimed Out of the Woods and a live recording taken from performances at #CarnegieHall and in Canada in late 1979). After a couple years' hiatus devoted to individual projects (including the birth of Walcott's daughter in 1980), the group reassembled, recording for ECM, releasing the eponymous Oregon in 1983 and Crossing in 1984. Before the latter's release, however, during a 1984 tour Walcott was killed in an automobile accident in the former East Germany. Lukadamianette Au Part 2

First Here Next

We begin where we left off, with Luka and Marinette on one of the dates Luka Planned. Just because it makes sense in this, Luka and Mari arrive a week early

Because Mari is emancipated and excused herself for the first week of school before the trip during which the class is still in France bc they just ended summer and all that jazz. also I have decided that the trip has turned into a half semester exchange program even though this doesn’t make the most sense, but the French school thought the class could use a reward and tbh they just wanted to get the Akuma class out for awhile. Also this way they aren’t in Gotham for a whole semester of senior year. The trip is planned for the first half of the first semester of senior year. I know that this doesn't make a whole lot of sense but just stick with me.

They go sight seeing and basically on a week long date bc the following week begins the Wayne sponsored exchange program and when Luka has to work for Jagged. One day they go to museums, the next the go to famous parks around Gotham (which are thriving thanks to Poison Ivy), the next they see all of the famous villain spots (which are surprisingly popular tourist destinations bc for the most part they don’t get hit twice in short periods of time) which is a good cover for studying past bat battles. They take days in between to rest and use the inspiration they gained to make new songs or clothing designs. 

They share hotel room bc Mari’s parents stopped being her parents a long time ago and lost their say and bc Jagged says they are grown up enough to be responsible for their actions (which brings a blush to their cheeks every time bc “daaaaaddddd” “uncle jaggeeedddd”)

Mari also makes it her mission to visit all of the non chain coffee shops at least once while they are there bc coffee became her best friend when she was active as ladybug. She meets Tim in almost everyone because Tim also drinks coffee obsessively. Luka is more of a tea drinker because coffee interrupts his musical thought process and tea is less harsh. Marinette drinks tea when she wants to relax but coffee is the fuel of the gods. She expresses this to Tim and that's how they become acquainted bc finally someone understands his love for coffee. They exchange numbers after they run into each other for a fourth time. (Luka silently thinks that he might have to talk to Mari about her obsession of coffee again and if there is a rehab center for coffee drinkers) Tim learns that Mari is from the exchange class very quickly based off of Luka’s French accent as well as her light French accent that is mixed with a couple things he can’t quite place.

The class arrives, Lila ofc tried to pull something to leave Mari behind and she thought she was successful so she was gloating. She ofc took credit for the whole trip claiming that she was super close to the Waynes and that she helped Damian acclimate to his new school (she actually knows that Damian didn’t start living with his father until 10 bc why not). Mrs Bustier tries to check in under both her name and Lila’s name, both of which don’t work because they are A) an hour and a half early and B) all of the reservations are under the contest winners name (they have to ok their chaperones to use their name) C)Mrs Bustier told Mari to make all of the reservations under Mari’s name anyway and she totally forgot that. 

So the sit in the lobby for an hour, Lila has the whole class riled up bc Marinette isn't there and it is al her fault that they can’t get in to their rooms. Marinette shows up with Luka 15 mins before the class was supposed to show up (they had just gotten lunch at a cafe that jagged had recommended) and she is laughing and happy, which causes the class to BLOW UP in her face. She ignores them and checks everyone into their rooms. Kagami and Chloe share a suite bc they are rich in their own right and upgraded their shared room bc they are dating and signed up to be roommates. They got this okayed by Buister in writing JIC. Marinette as the contest winner also got a suite (the room she had been staying in with Luka that she just extended the booking for)

Lila and Alya obviously make a big fuss about them getting special treatment but bustier can’t do anything because Mari won’t let her. She secretly thinks Mari is a lost cause now but she tries her best to get her to see that she has to be a role model. Mari actually planned the whole trip and she did a fucking fantastic job bc its Mari and planning something is what she is great at. She has all of the bases covered including iternerary, bookings for food, emergency contact info, health info, info on Gotham, safety procedures and the whole shebang. All of which had to be approved by  Bustier and that Bustier has copies of but totally ignored.

The next day they try to pull the let’s leave an hour early to leave behind Marinette stunt. Not only does that fail because the tour can’t start until the contest winner is there, but they arrived before Wayne tower was even open to the public. Because jagged is extra he shipped Luka and Marinette motorcycles to Gotham bc they were going to be there for a couple months, they also got special permission from Wayne enterprises to park their bikes in the employee parking structures from Tim once he heard that they rode bikes as expensive as Jason’s. So she left early from the hotel with Luka(bc she knew that Bustier would leave her behind somehow) to go meet up with Tim at a new coffee place (one of his favorites). They end up riding on their respective bikes to WE together so they can hang out before the tour. Luka goes to a recording studio to meet up with Jagged, but not before a very passionate kiss goodbye, which makes Tim blush. (Tim may not seem like the biker type but he is a bat and he lives with Jason so he not only knows how to ride a motorcycle well has one, so it may not be his favorite mode of transportation but he’ll live)

So he and Marinette walk to WE about a half an hour before the class is supposed to be there in the middle of a debate on how best to brew coffee (Mari insists its French press) and low and behold they are there yelling at the receptionist. Mari gives Tim a look that says I’m so sorry you have to see this and yes I was not exaggerating walks up to the receptionist and apologizes for what she is about to do (not for the classes actions bc fuck them they can apologize for themselves she has learned to not take responsibility for others actions and she won’t let all that work go to waste). She then proceeds to yell, much louder than someone of her stature presumably should “SHUT THE FUCK UP OR I STG I WILL BREAK JOKER OUT OF ARKHAM AND LOCK HIM IN A ROOM WITH ALL OF YOU WITHOUT FLINCHING” this is shocking to everyone, especially mrs bustier who is  scandalized  that her role model student would do something like this.

Tim had a feeling that something video worthy would happen so as soon as she walked away he started recording, and he was NOT disappointed. The video gos straight to the batfam gc and Luka immediately. He powered off his phone then he proceeds to start laughing and applauding. Upon seeing the CEO’s reaction the rest of the employees start applauding as well bc damn those kids were rude. Tim then walks up to Mari talking at a speed no one but Mari, Chloe and Kagami could understand (bc the class is not fluent in English no matter what they would tell you). Mari proceeds to blush once he informs her that he sent a video to Luka (he does not tell her about the batfam gc)

Chloe and Kagami are immediate intrigued bc this is NOT what they picture when Mari said she met someone who loves coffee as much as she does. they may be hella gay for each other but damn that man is ripped. They join the convo while the class remains befuddled bc who knew Mari even swore. in the back of his mind Nino is reminded of a young blue-eyed girl who lost playground privileges for a week bc someone made fun of his glasses and proceed to punch said someone in the nose. But he shakes it of because Mari hasn’t been like that in years. 

Bustier eventually collects herself and gently, so as not to cause an Akuma (apparently she didn't get the memo), reminds Mari that they are here for a tour and she needs to get the class their passes.  So Mari leaves her friends to get acquainted and goes up to the receptionist, to whom she apologizes for her actions again, and the receptionist replies with a laugh and a “honey, you just made my week, there's no need to apologize I should be thanking you” (she does thank Mari). Mari gets a special pass bc she’s the contest winner to which Lila and Alya (then the rest of the class for the most part) proceed to throw a hissy fit over. The receptionist is so over them though and doesn’t even blink. 

Then their tour guide shows up. (its Dick and his assistant Damian). Damian proceeds to scold the class for a solid ten mins (which coincidentally leads up to their scheduled time to start the tour). Dick slides off to talk to the receptionist and his brother who isn't working and is talking to real people for once. Just for that they are his favorite out of the class. Tim unfortunately has to go to work so they talk to Dick to get acquainted until the tour has to officially start. 

Los tres amigos are the only ones who pay attention to Dick at all (he leads the tour bc he’s been there the longest but Damian throws in a comment here or there mostly related to shenanigans his family has gotten into but overall useful facts. for example these windows are reinforced because our CEO (Tim) leaned up against one, fell asleep and fell through the window to the office below.)

The rest of the class is focused on Lila who is talking a whole bunch of nonsense about the Wayne family and how she has helped them with their business. Some things actually sound kinda legit, but Mari and Co. know that it is BS. Dick tries to bet bustier involved but she makes an excuse for Lila and goes on her phone and doesn’t really pay attention. 

Eventually the class tour turns into Dick talking to Mari, Chloe and Kagami while the class vaguely follows them. Damian doesn’t really say anything because he generally doesn’t do well talking to strangers and these girls seem ok and he is still insecure (not that he would ever admit it to anyone ) about social interaction now that he has figured out how people who weren’t raised as assassins act. That is until Dick starts talking about shenanigans that his brothers get into, and Damian jumps in correcting him because  I did not try to tackle Todd, Grayson I did tackle Todd quite successful and also Alfred won’t let you into the kitchen anymore because you almost burned down the east wing of the manor not  because he is territorial over the kitchen. And Mari hadn’t really paid attention to Damian until now but OH MY KAWAMI he is hot, and how did she talk so long to notice that. 

She ends up taking a pic of Damian without him noticing (he really doesn’t notice which is a feat in itself but Dick does and he will  be teasing Damian about it later bc obviously) and she texts it to Luka bc if she is going to freak out over his hotness she wants Luka to do so too. ( he sees the pic in the middle of recording and he ends up needing a water break bc gay panic and he really is extremely handsome. Recording gets delayed even longer bc jagged cannot pass up the opportunity to tease him son and he does so mercilessly and Mari totally knew what she was doing when she sent that picture) Luka ends up demanding that she gets Damians number or he will because that man is fine.  

Mari now knows that the stuttering idolization that she had with Adrien wasn’t really healthy and Luka likes to remind her all the time that she can be smooth when she wants to be (sometimes unintentionally but she practices on Luka because she loves to see him blush). Mari then makes it her mission to compliment Damian as much as possible so that it is crystal clear and very obvious that she is flirting with him. If he even shows a little discomfort in a negative I don’t like this kind of way she will stop because she will not make someone go through what she went through with Chat Noir and unwanted advances.

Chloe, Kagami and Dick immediately notice that she is flirting with Damian. Chloe takes a video for Luka bc she knows that he would want to see this and Dick takes a video for the Batfam gc. 

Just to be clear Mari and Luka have talked about seeing other people and maybe adding a third person to their relationship as long as they talk about it. that line of communication was opened when Mari sent a pic of Damian to Luka and when Luka asked for his number that was his “go ahead” for her to flirt with Damian. Lila doesn’t understand how that works and neither do the rest of the class so that is a point of contention between the class and Mari. She would NEVER cheat on Luka, she loves him and he is the most important person to her in the world. Something that Juleka understands (she just doesn’t like Mari bc of Lila she knows how polyamory works this is why her and Luka aren't as close as they used to be)

Moving on... the batfam gc blows up for a second time that day and so when the class goes to the cafeteria Tim just has to see this for himself. Mari tries not to be obnoxious in her flirting so she compliments Damians intelligence by asking him questions that weren't included in the tour, and she asks him about his interests and is like that must have taken a lot of time to perfect you must be very dedicated. Damian isn’t used to genuine compliments especially from strangers so he is very flustered by it but he makes no indication for her to stop. 

The day winds down and the class has some free time before they have to go to dinner but the do have to leave the tower. Mari does actually get Damians number (he thinks she must be very well trained to get his number that quick bc he refuses to accept that he gave it to her because he likes her) Mari promises to ft him later bc he promised to let her meet his dog and she doesn’t want to wait until the class has dinner at the manor to see Titus.

Ok so much as I like the idea of poly life Bruce/Drs Fenton...nah.

He's early to mid twenties with baby Dick. Robin might only have been seen for the last year. Just enough time for them to get the hang of working together.

The Fentons, however, are much older. Old enough to be Bruce's parents. In fact, Jazz and Danny are both graduated and going to college. Jazz is all about prison reform and reducing recidivism. Danny isn't going to be an astronaut, but he's shaping up to be a damn fine engineer. After Danny's first year at college, the Fentons started planning this three week bonding vacation thing for every summer. (Even with their work and Dani hanging out, the Drs got empty nest syndrome BAD.) One week for Jazz/Jack and Danny/Mads, then they switch, and the third week they spend all together somewhere with Dani. (Paid for by Vlad's child support.)

So Jazz and Jack are off hiking the Pacific Northwest and out of pocket, while Danny and Maddie are touring Gotham. (After all, they've got one of the best planetariums in the country, plus Danny's considering applying to WE when he graduates.) Now, Danny isn't the Ghost King yet, not until he fully passes, but he might as well be, and has some duties that he has to take care of. (Oh yeah, we're gonna go with good reveal. This is a fluff piece.) So he splits off from Maddie for a bit to take care of some GZ work.

Maddie chills for a bit until the appointed rendezvous time comes and goes.

No Danny.

She calls him.

No answer.

Of course, there's tracking tech in the phone, which she immediately takes advantage of. It shows the phone is still in the city. She tracks it down, only to find it smashed in an alleyway. (It's Fenton tech. It's busted but still functional.)

Time to get the local cryptid involved.

Shenanigans ensue. Danny is found. (Critiquing a Riddler set up? Wrestling Waylon? Tripping balls on fear gas and licking a traumatized Scarecrow like he was that hallucinogenic toad?) And Batman is adopted.

The Fenton kids are happy to have another sibling and thrilled to have a little nephew to spoil. Alfred is thrilled to have additional parents for Bruce (even if they are the definition of chaos), and he doesn't grey as fast, knowing his boy has friends in high places. Dick is in awe because Danny and Jack got Bruce to actually laugh! A full-on belly laugh! He's been here over a year and hasn't heard more than a chuckle from the stoic man! Tucker joins Danny at WE eventually and becomes the first Oracle. Sam visits and crosses paths with a freshly sprouted Ivy. Suddenly she's got a little sister!

Little Jay joins the family and is so confused about the aunts and uncles that visit regularly but has to grudgingly admit his new Aunt Dani is pretty ok. (For a grown-up.) Aunt Jazz has badgered Bruce into being more vocal about his emotions and love languages, so Dick hasn't left for Bludhaven, though he's thinking about becoming a cop when he graduates high school. For now, he's gonna work with Bruce to train Jay up, (because there's no stopping the boy from vigilanting, just like Dick) and work on a new vigilante persona so that when Jay is ready, he can pass him the Robin mantle.

Ethiopia never happens.

Instead, a green sticky note shows up in Jay's bathroom one morning that just says "Check on your neighbor" and suddenly Jay is too busy undoing years of neglect in a young Tim and building a case against the Drakes so Bruce can get custody to even think about tracking down his bio mom.

Danny eventually runs into the LOA while taking care of some really weird ectoplasm. He didn't know it could just pool up like that and go stale, but he cleared the dam and it quickly flowed back into the Realms. However, he now has a grumpy and confused toddler whose mom and grandfather fell to dust once the pools which had been maintaining their extended youth were gone. And boy, does he look an awful lot like a young Bruce...

I'm not familiar enough with the rest to figure out how to get them in, but regardless, with every addition, the Fentons are thrilled. New nephew/niece/grandbaby!!! And with Bruce being Jewish and Jazz politely pointing out to her parents how much the Christmas arguments bothered her and her siblings, they've decided to just spend every winter with the Waynes.

Gotham's rogues either lay low until Wayne's New Year's gala, or make sure they're in Arkham by Thanksgiving. Joker hasn't been seen since that one year he decided to interrupt the festivities on the last day of Hannukah...

Bruce can’t quite believe what he’s seeing. Sitting ontop of the GCPD building, is a lady in a teal jumpsuit with bright red goggles. In her hands is a comically large sci-fi looking gun. The woman makes eye contact with her and smiles. “Batman! Good to see you here. I was looking for you.” Her pleasant demeanor lasted just long enough for her to slide off her seat ontop of the roof door access where it changed instantly to cold calculating seriousness. “Now,” her finger hovering over the trigger, “My beautiful baby boy has been captured. You’re going to help me find him. Do I make myself clear?”

Queenified (Part 2)

Hi again! I’ll be posting the first five chapters really quickly because they are the ones I have for now.

Okay so I had a VERY hard time finding a fitting FC for Brianna, bless my ibf for introducing me to Özge Gürel.

Chapter two: Brianna

Twigger warning: slight language. Chapter song: Some Day One Day (Queen)

They were in the middle of the soundcheck when one of Roger’s drums started to sound different.

“Fuck”, Roger said, almost frustrated. “Wait, I’m gonna tune it again”

“Go ahead”, Brianna said calmly, holding her guitar although she had the stripe on. She still couldn’t believe that drums could also be tuned.

Between her and Roger, Brianna Hilda May was a whole different thing compared to him. Even from the beginning she proved to be the smart, space lover mom-friend. Everyone that looked at her would never believe she was a musician, not even a guitarist.

Her taste in music and space started during her Hampton years when she was a child. Coming from a family that could barely make ends meet, her father spoiled her by getting her her first telescope and acoustic guitar, which she took care of like if they were her whole life. Also a Beatles fan like Freddie, Brianna used to emulate every single song from the radio with her guitar and the company of her beloved cat until it wasn’t enough, developing a great talent. She then needed and electric guitar no one in her family could afford, so her father, Harold, being himself an electrical engineer, helped her build one of her own with spare and specific materials, specially pieces of a 100-year-old chimney a friend of hers was about to throw away. The Red Special, as she named it, was safely kept in her room along her six pence coin with which she found the best sound for the guitar. A specific, metallic sound she could never get with an ordinary pick.

Smart enough, she made it into Imperial College for a Physics and Astronomy grade and was working then on a doctorate in Astrophysics. Although with Smile, it started to get a bit hard, but nothing Brianna couldn’t handle like a boss. She was the most criticized member of Smile, just because she was a woman, and women in rock are almost inexistent, something unthinkable since women used to be groupies or absolutely nothing for the regular eye. And although Brianna was quite sensible, she didn’t give a fuck already and had the best answers; her playing was one of them. Oh, she loved male tears after every show when they struggled to apologize; eventually she had Roger getting into fights in her defense even when she said it was unnecessary.

Brianna had to deal with women stereotypes literally all her life. She learned to do the housework but she didn’t really like it. Space and music prevented her from being brainwashed about being men’s servant, and it worked because she was daddy’s little girl. She knew that the rocking world was so fucking sexist and still she risked it all to get involved in it. If there wasn’t any woman who was wany woman, then she would be the first one. And surely there were more trying to see the light, or that did it but were stratospherically ignored. She was mistaken for a groupie every time she appeared with Tim and Roger, and their glares said otherwise almost inmediately. Part of her musical training came with great exigencies of her own. She had to be good enough to prove everyone wrong, even being the shy sweetheart she was.

Living with three men had taught her so many things at that point (and it made her father go nuts). She was stronger than when she arrived to London. At first she thought it wasn’t a good idea moving with Tim and Roger, but Smile required it, so she accepted. And then Freddie joined them. She had the tidiest room and assumed by herself the half-time role of housewife; she couldn’t imagine living among men and paying little attention to the flat, she would combust. And soon she became their protected bean, a mom-friend. She found herself dealing with dinners, hangovers, flu, schedules, things she shouldn’t even care about and nonetheless did for her friends. Roger and Freddie would spend time with her watching movies and eating fast food, or bring her clothes she liked from the Market by trading them with their merchandise. They could even play with her hair and she would thank them, being those two the only ones she let touch the hair she so carefully straightened. Tim would do more serious stuff, but he had become quite distant lately. Nowadays she could walk around the flat in panties and an oversized t-shirt and they wouldn’t care... Brianna wouldn’t let them see her panties, however; maybe her shorts.

Her hair is another thing. Naturally she had curls, but they were so hard to handle and out of syle, so she straightened it almost everyday. She would never let anyone see her curls, unless she didn’t have time to do her routine, but they didn’t reach the point of getting her original shape.

“I swear I’ve never seen you with your natural curls”, Tim commented suddenly, bass in hand. He brought her back to reality.

“And you never will”, Brianna smiled.

Yeah, she guessed she could say that she was quite comfortable with that life. The only difficult task was studying and trying to become a rockstar at the same time, they consumed her day and energy, but it was completely worth it. She sometimes missed her home and her parents, that was obvious, even more being an only child. On the other hand, she had an awesome bond with the boys, specially with Roger, who she met when he auditioned for Smile at the jazz room of the Imperial College. He was the first one to mistake her for a groupie. She didn’t expect him to be that jerk, until he redeemed himself.

“Woah, they send the groupies too. What a service”, he said back then, flirtatiously, trying to take her by her waist.

“... I’m the guitarist. I put the advertisement on the board”, she answered just like that, arms crossed and arching her eyebrows.

She remembered Roger going completely red, his shocked face amusing her. He automatically backed out and held his hands in the air.

“Holy fuck, I’m sorry. I’ve never met a female guitarist”

“Now you have. Come on”, she replied, taking the Red Special out of its case.

And when they tried the first sounds, their instruments magically sounded like one. The connection was instantaneous and they both looked at each other with shy smiles. Neither of them thought that could happen, but Brianna knew she had found the perfect drummer.

The same exact drummer that sat back behind the drums two years later.

“Earth calling Bri”, Roger called with a fake robot voice, a hand covering his mouth on purpose. “Drums ready”

Brianna snapped back to reality, once again, and nodded, positioning herself like before the problem occurred and both of them waited for Tim to come back from the toilet.

Conversation was difficult for Ian (Alasdair Melrose) from the beginning. It’s not entirely his fault, however. Grab ‘Em By The Pussy starts, you see, with deliberately overly loud nightclub-style music in a bar. Even members of the audience had to raise their voices in order to be heard before the show started. It didn’t help, once the lights went down for the show proper, that Ian had a nervous disposition, stemming from either a tenderness of youth or anxiety about meeting Maisy (Alice Wolff-Whitehouse) for the first time. Perhaps it was both. Melrose puts across Ian’s vulnerability and very British manners so naturalistically, and it was difficult not to have at least some sympathy for him by the end of the evening’s proceedings.

I trust it is not too much of a spoiler to say there is some grabbing down below that occurs. It takes the form of a death-like creature, which makes an appearance at each scene change. I can only assume the role is shared between two or more performers, as the character is not listed separately in the cast list, and it is rare for all five to be on stage at the same time. I didn’t personally find the Grabber (as I call him), a non-speaking character, added much to the narrative.

The humour, whilst not exactly family-friendly, has a sort of Marmite-like quality to it, and overall, I loved a lot more of it than I loathed. The musical numbers are slow to come by in the first half, such that I wondered whether this would be better described as a ‘play with words’ rather than a ‘musical’, but there’s no stopping them coming (ahem) in the second half. Occasionally, an imperfect sound balance between the recorded music accompanying vocals without microphones meant a line or two was difficult to decipher (from my vantage point anyway).

Maisy is frustrated, for reasons that become clear in a sardonic and comical musical number that established an excellent rapport with the audience. This in turn allowed for a greater appreciation of the show’s humour and the character’s exasperation. As a consequence, the rapport went up even more, so the audience’s appreciation rose, and so on as the show progressed. The connection with the audience is this production’s key strength.

This all could, however, have been a tad punchier. The most ‘in your face’ character is in the form of Roland Ryland (Adam Ralph Moysen), a celebrity chart music singer whose rap was simply too slow to have much credibility. I take it this was deliberate, showing this self-spoken performer to be not everything he was hyped up to be. Maisy’s friends Jackie (Grace Russell) and Roxanne (Rachel Loughran), eventually come to their senses, though quite how it happened was an unexpected surprise.

This unexpected surprise aside, the musical was rather more pleasant than I would have thought a show of a title like this perhaps ought to be. Not a single gasp was elicited from the audience: there was simply nothing to gasp at. The show’s big ballad, a two-hander between Maisy and Ian, was very much in the style of ‘The Song That Goes Like This’ from Spamalot, with semi-mocking lines such as, “My love is endless, just like this song.”

The lyrics advance the narrative, with just the one showstopping song-and-dance extravaganza, in which the cast demonstrate they perform as an ensemble with the same high standards exhibited in the solo or duet numbers. All things considered, this is a funny and forthright production with a definite fringe factor.

Explore a world where reality and fiction are blurred in an intoxicated dreamscape. It will be weird. It will be hilarious. And there will be songs such as, No One Will Let Me Blow Them, I Can Carry Heavy Objects Long Distances Without Needing a Rest and Seem Like A Corpse. There might even be a comedy dance routine or two. One thing is for sure: nobody will leave untouched!

Grab ‘Em is a serio-comic response to the world’s reaction to Trump’s “grab ‘em by the pussy” which highlighted the mass normalisation of sexual harassment. We explore cat calling and bum slapping with a funky beat, we’ll show you ‘grab hands’ not ‘jazz hands,’ and of course we’ll grab you by the pussy. After all, ‘you asked for it.’ Didn’t you?

First performed in the Old Red Lion in February Grab ‘Em By The Pussy, written by Caroline Buckley, directed by Bence Kalo and featuring music by Josh Wells, was developed into a full-length show for The Space’s Summer Season
