Teaching Sound Doctrine
1 But speak thou the things which befit the sound doctrine: 2 that aged men be temperate, grave, sober-minded, sound in faith, in love, in patience: 3 that aged women likewise be reverent in demeanor, not slanderers nor enslaved to much wine, teachers of that which is good; 4 that they may train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be sober-minded, chaste, workers at home, kind, being in subjection to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed: 6 the younger men likewise exhort to be sober-minded: 7 in all things showing thyself an ensample of good works; in thy doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravity, 8 sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of us. 9 Exhort servants to be in subjection to their own masters, and to be well-pleasing to them in all things; not gainsaying; 10 not purloining, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. 11 For the grace of God hath appeared, bringing salvation to all men, 12 instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present world; 13 looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a people for his own possession, zealous of good works.
15 These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no man despise thee. — Titus 2 | American Standard Version (ASV) The American Standard Version Bible is in the public domain. Pastoral Lessons from a Soccer Coach
I observed a great pastoral lesson today in the local Panera. I arrived at the restaurant shortly before 9AM. A soccer coach was already sitting with a father and his nine year old son at a table. My appointment with a young man I am discipling went long and by 11:30, I noticed pairs of sons and fathers come and go from the table and I saw another one waiting in the wings. After my appointment, I…

“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, training us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live in a manner that is self-controlled and righteous and godly in the present age.
We wait for the blessed hope and appearance of the glory of our great God and Savior, Messiah Yeshua.
He gave Himself for us so that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and so that He might purify for Himself a chosen people, zealous for good deeds.”

Separation through the Word
Separation through the Word
Obedience to God’s Word is essential to a holy life. Psalm 119:101-102 – “I hold back my feet from every evil way in order to keep your word. I do not turn away from your ordinances, for you have taught me.” Believers cannot live holy lives unless they know the Word of God. It is the instruction of God that teaches us what is right and what is wrong. Psalm 119:105 – “Your word is a lamp for my…

STEPS TO FOLLOW
Titus 2: 3-5 gives a list of character traits that older women are to teach younger women.  The list includes things like how to love their husbands and children, be pure, become homemakers that they might be a good testimony for the Lord.  In my life there were 3 women who were my mentors to teach me these things. It has finally happened. They are all gone on before me. What am I talking about?…
