Do you take platonic requests?
If so, could I request head-cannons, or anything you like really, of Splinter (can be 2012 or rottmnt) becoming a father figure for a reader who doesn’t have one? The reader becomes friends with the turtles and spends a lot of time at the lair, obviously because they want to spend time with their turtle buds, but also because they really like talking to Splinter and he kinda picks up on it after a while and decides “yep, I have a 5th kid now”.
Sorry if this is a bit of a strange request.
Father Figure ⭐️ Splinter (Platonic)
Tumblr media
A/N: This wasn’t a strange request at all, I love requests like this because they really pull at my heartstrings. Was super fun to write, and I tried my best not to tear up as Father/Child scenes make me emotional lmao
Pairing(s): Platonic!Splinter x GN!Reader
Warning(s): Like, two swear words, teeny tiny bit of angst? Overall very soft <3
Proof read :)
——————————
Spending so much of your free time down in the lair meant not only hanging out with the turtles, but also becoming close to their dad, Splinter.
So much time in fact that it started to feel like he was becoming your own dad.
The first time you had a proper conversation with him was when you were having a sleepover at the lair. While everyone else was knocked out cold in their own rooms, you couldn’t catch a wink of sleep, so you decided to check out the one place the guys spend most of their time; the Dojo.
You first thought was to just marvel at the range of weapons they had, but you weren’t even close to doing that when you spotted a meditating Splinter sitting silently in the middle of the room.
Breathing a sigh of relief that the sound of you entering the room didn’t disturb him, you went to back out when his voice startled you. “Cannot sleep?”
Ah, shit. You fucked up.
Not wanting to be rude, you sheepishly nod, “Yeah, I’m really sorry for disturbing you. I just wanted to try and tire myself out by walking around.”
It was then that he gently patted the space in front of him, inviting you over. With nothing else to do and honestly, why would you even decline, you complied and sat in front of him.
That night the two of you talked for a few hours. It started off a little bit awkward on your part, not knowing exactly what to say to him, but he was kind enough to lead the conversation.
You talked about the turtles, when they were younger and just learning how to defend themselves, about some of your future plans, if you had any that is, and if not, he would try and give you a push in the right direction with small ideas he thought would suit you.
At some point, your home life was brought up. You explained to him that it was just you and your mother when you were growing up. You never had a proper father figure, but you would never trade your mother in for the world.
He tells you that your mother did a wonderful job of bringing you up :’)
As time went by, you spent more and more time with Splinter. He’s shown you a few defensive moves in case anything were to happen when the boys weren’t around to help you, to which you profusely thanked him for. He was so proud when you managed to pin him down once (though he wouldn’t tell you that he was obviously going easy)
You two drink tea together a lot, and if you didn’t like tea, he would manage to find you something you would prefer.
At some point he begins to call you his child, it started off as ‘Okay, it’s because I’m a teenager, I understand’, but at some point to both you and him it starts sounding more like he’s definitely adopted you. And he has.
He tells you about Miwa and his past family, which you take in with watery eyes and a soft smile. At that point, you knew you were apart of the family.
Sometimes the guys like to tease you and Splinter, Raph often stating that “Well since you’re his favourite child-“
You would just grin with your hands on your hips, “I am the favourite child, thank you very much. Now if you excuse me, I’m telling dad that you ate my slice of pizza.” Just to be petty lmao
If you’re ever upset, your go to person would be Splinter. Something about the way he hugs you so tightly, with so much care in his embrace just makes you sob it all out until you felt better, his calming words making everything seem so little.
When Father’s Day arrives, you might or might not have actually celebrated it with him and the turtles. You bought him an actual cake that you all shared, and took plenty of photos to hang around the lair and in his room. It was a day to remember, especially when you could spot the little tears in his eyes.
Overall, Splinter is the best dad you could ever want, and you make sure he knows that.

You're the best writer i have found on this platform, you're literally Soo wholesome and friendly, i love you SOOO much 😻
I have a request for bayberse turtles, I saw your fic about the turtles lil sis having a boyfriend.
Soo let's make it angsty:
Reader comes back from a date, the boys noticed the reader covering their face and having an odd behavior.
When they talk to them, they discover the reader found her boyfriend cheating on her, the reader got angry and frustrated at them so, her and her boyfriend got into a verbal fight, that's when the boyfriend loses it and punched the reader on the face leaving her with a black eye.
After the reader's finish, she can't stop crying.
I can see fire in the boys eyes after this
If you feel uncomfortable with this you can ignore it.
Remember that we ALL love you and you're the best 💕🤗
ANON I AM CRYING- YOU'RE SO NICE LIKE 😭😭 YOU THINK I'M THE BEST? REALLY? ANONNNNN- 💕💖💕💖💕❤

BAYVERSE BOYS, AND READERS TOXIC EX
So uh, trigger warning, themes of physical abuse, cheating, angst/comfort.
....................................
You walked into the Lair slowly,
God you hope your brothers were sleeping.
Or at least out on patrol.
Then you'd have sone time to cover this bruise.
Your face was soaked with tears as you speed walked to your room,
You cringed when Leo called out to you.
"What, no hug for big brother?" he teased,
You did your best to even out your voice as you faced away from him, "No, uh, not tonight. I don't feel good, don't want you to catch it."
Leo chuckled, walking up to you, "(Name), you know we don't get sick as easily as you."
He put a hand on your shoulder, and you flinched away.
Leo quickly pulled away, and his eyes widened with worry.
"(Name)? Are you ok? What's wrong?"
You sniffled, you couldn't help the tears flowing faster down your face as your hand covered the growing bruise on your face.
"Nothing. I'm f-"
Leo grabbed your shoulders, then spun you around to face him.
He searched your face, then spotted you covering your cheek.
"Show me." he whispered.
You shook your head rapidly, trying to pull away from Leo.
It felt like you physically couldn't speak, you felt so ashamed.
Leo huffed, then grabbed your other wrist and pulled you into the dojo.
There sat your other three brothers and you felt your breathing pick up.
They looked cheerfully up at you until they saw your tear stained face and Leo's worried expression.
"What happened?" Raph asked, standing quickly.
"I dunno, she won't tell me."
Mikey walked up to you, and gently grabbed the hand you used to cover your bruise,
He moved the hand from you face and you felt your tears pick up as your brothers reacted exactly how you expected they would.
Donnie cupped your face, examining the bruise as he fretted over your safety,
Mikey looked on the verge of tears simply at the thought of you getting hurt,
Leo still gripped your hand, and he squeezed it gently,
Raph crossed his arms, his face was stoic and angry.
The only emotion you registered from yourself was shame.
"What happened?" Raph repeated.
You choked back a sob as you spoke, "H-he cheated on me." you said, looking down at your feet, "I- we got into an argument, t-then-" you sobbed, "He hi-hit me. He hit me."
Raph pulled you in for a hug, and you sobbed into his plastron.
The boys shared a look, then nodded.
Raph pulled away, and smiled comfortingly, "Listen, Smalls, how about you hang out with Dad for a little, ok?"
"Where are you guys g-going." you asked, still sniffling.
Mikey patted your head, "Don't worry about it. We're just gonna go pick up afew things, ok?"
"Ok." You muttered, and you followed your brothers into Sensei's room, Donnie went in first, no doubt to explain what was going on.
You sat next to your dad, leaning into his side as he wrapped his arm around your shoulder.
"Would you like some tea my dear?" he asked gently.
You nodded, and the two of you stood to go to the kitchen.
Your brothers however,
Were on their way to kick your ex's ass.
Not that you needed to know.
No, it's better that you don't.
So when they return to the Lair with gallons of ice cream, and a very worried April,
They don't tell you a thing.
You all pile into the living room, and watch all your favorite movies, eating outrageous amounts of ice cream.
You fell asleep rather quickly, exhaustion was a pretty powerful thing.
But you fell asleep knowing just how much your family cared.

(Me reading your yandere Kranng fic) I only know Kevin for a few seconds but if anything happened to him I would cry🥺 (me reading the ending ) NOOOO!! Not my boy Kevin!😭😭
Not gonna lie , if I was in that situation I would low-key have trust issues with the turtles if there did that to me , especially you Don! 👈😤
I read your TMNT stories which were amazing by the way , love reading your thoughts 💓
But now you got me wondering how 2007 Splinter gonna react that he suddenly a grandpa who has tons of grandkids since his sons are just nabbing them from there homes XD
Underneath is the fanfiction. Over cut is author notes.
Thank you!! <3<3<3 I mean, unfortunately, 2012 Don don't got eyes for you, he's got eyes for april, which leads to... unfortunate circumstances.
Im sorry about Kevin. 🥺 (not really) he was a very needed sacrifice for realism.

I didn't think about it before, if we're going off of the thought of my HCs Splinter, then he feels guilty. You're not supposed to be here, in the sewers with them, you're supposed to be on the surface, with the other humans. Because of his failing as a master, you've been kidnapped so often.
For fanfiction purposes though, we'll go off of this original apprehension to taking children home, even to the point of bringing you home himself once he figured out the turtles were lying to him about taking you back.
How he would find out about that is likely a slip up by Mikey. Mikey would say something along the lines of asking Donnie to set up a camera, and Splinter would connect the dots.
At what point he would give up is.... questionable. Who's to say that once Leo, LEO, the responsible one brought Reader home for the 4th or 5th time, he gave up and accepted it.
He would try to make it comfortable for his grandkid[s]. (Truly depends on if you consider Reader to be one or multiple because of the turtles.)
Splinter is in a constant state of anguish. He truly doesn't want this to happen to you, {or the you's} but... is it wrong that he hoped for more children to raise... and he's okay with it if it means he can raise you?
He would often end up being the one that Reader could go to if they are frustrated or angry with any of the turtles, and he would stop all of the turtles from seeing you(s).
He would end up being the one hope that Reader would have in either escape, or having a normal(ish) life. He wouldn't teach you{s} how to fight, Which Leo appreciates, and Raph hates, but he wouldn't let you go either. If it means making his boys happy... Who's to say that you can't be happy in the sewers, I mean, look at his boys, they turned out fine.

Hi hope it’s not to late to request some rise content ! Could I please request Yandere platonic rivals between Splinter vs big mama HCs fighting over the reader who was an old friend of theirs (that one episode when Splinter first meets big mama in his movies star days) before she/their moved away only to return years later ? Only if you want to of course 💗
Y'know that joke where Baron Draxum and Splinter are a divorced couple? Well this is literally it except it's Big mama and Splinter lmaooo
I made this comedic, but I think the rivalry point still stands
Tw: Honestly this is just funny shit, minor brit slander, mentions of manipulation, MC lowkey feels kinda hopeless, mentions of past depression
Brits in a Pub
"Yeah and this really nice person close to the manhole, next to Big Mama's hotel, fed us some pizza!" Mikey cheered, clapping his hands together.
Splinter showing some interest replies, "Seems like you had fun, boys." His body sags on the recliner chair, like a potato on a pile of dirt.
"Oh, and they apparently moved back to New York City to see their old friends, Lou Jitsu and his girlfriend." Donatello adds, scrolling through media on his phone.
The lair goes silent as if provoked by Donnie's comment.
The purple-masked mutant looks up from his device, confused. "What? I thought dad might've known who th-"
"Y/N!" Splinter yells, bouncing up from his chair. He rushes forward to Donatello, gripping the turtle's shoulders. "Where did you find this 'person'?!"
"Um dad, Mikey already told you."
——————————————————
Big Mama sits at the very top stand of the Battle Nexus arena, looking down below. "Ooh, I think is going to be a very interesting fight~" She grins, showing off her fangs.
"My lady, we've received a message from an unknown sender. It was addressed to you." A staff member walks in, holding a laptop open. "The sender goes by the name Y/n."
Big Mama whips her head, all six of her ruby eyes glowing with joy. "Y/n? Why I haven't seen them in years!" She scurries over, a pair of arms taking the laptop.
An e-mail is present on the screen, stating:
'Hey, Big Mama. I know I moved away a long time ago, and we haven't spoken since, but I moved back and I was hoping we could catch up sometime. I heard you're a grand hotel owner now so if you're free, you could pick us a place to eat. After all, you probably New York City better than me now.
(Yes I know you're not human)
Your friend, Y/n'
Big Mama slams the laptop shut, her arms wiggling in excitement. "We need to make a reservation at the finest restaurant in the hotel! Oh and make sure it's a private room, I want no distractions!"
——————————————————
The Hamato family stands in front of Y/n's house, the late night sky hiding their identity.
"I'm sorry, you and Big Mama accused each other for the reason this Y/n person left?" Leo moves an eyebrow muscle, confusion apprent on his face.
"Well I say it's her fault but yes, we did." Splinter answers maliciously, arms crossed over his chest.
Mikey, as if offended, dramatically puts a hand on his chest, mouth agape. "Dad you shouldn't be saying things like that! Maybe they just wanted to get away from New York City."
"Yeah, it is kinda tight and smoggy here." Raph adds, staring up at the house before him.
"What can we say? New York, what a town~" Donnie wiggles his fingers and spreads his hands apart, like raining glitter over a piece of paper.
Before Splinter can reply, the group notices two of Big Mama's servants open a door for someone, seemingly welcoming a VIP.
"Hey, it's the pizza giver!" Mikey points out, realizing the identity of the mysterious person before anyone else.
"Blue, quick! Open a portal!" Splinter commands his son, a new energy rushing through his old and small body.
Leo holds his Ōdachi out, slicing an electric blue portal. "On it dad!"
——————————————————
"Hello darling! It's been so many years~" Big Mama hugs Y/n, her human form miniscule compared to her yokai form. The other hugs back, smiling.
When they pull away Y/n scratches their head, chuckling nervously, "Yeah it is. It's weird but good to be back in New York." They freeze before asking themselves, "I never told you why I moved away did I?"
The silver-haired lady shakes her head, her the frames of her glasses gleaming in the light.
"Well I moved away because I got a new job, and also 'cause I felt like I was invading your relationship." They frown a little, glancing away from her view.
Shocked, Big Mama questions, "Invading? How so?"
"I was always with you guys and you kept fighting for my attention so I thought I was ruining your relationship."
Ruin? No certainly not. If anything, the reason she was blinded to force Lou Jitsu to fight for the Battle Nexus was because her beloved friend left.
"The depression both me and Lou got after you left was horrible, we were so heartbroken."
"Speaking of Lou, where is he?"
"Um, we split up, and then he was transformed into a rat mutant."
"I-"
"But, enough of that, we have much to catch up on!"
She leads them to the private area, an unchanging grin on plastered on her face.
——————————————————
On the side of a doorway, the five mutants discreetly hide, trying to get into the restaurant Big Mama and Y/n currently reside in. "Sneak in, boys. Sneak in." Splinter whispers, his snout scrunched up.
"We almost have the perfect angle, only seven more seconds until we can infiltrate and hide." Donnie confirms, his goggles shading his eyes.
"6."
"5."
"4."
"3."
"2."
"1-!"
The ninja glide in, finding different items to shield themselves.
"This is an order for Big Mama herself, don't fuck it up mate." A chef states, handing the plates of food to a waiter.
"After it!"
They tail along, awkwardly tracing the same route as the waiter. When they arrive they stop right outside the door, back in a similar position from before. As the waiter leaves, they slip in before the door shuts.
Inside Big Mama and Y/n are chatting up a storm, like all those years ago. "So I was hiring this new broadcaster the other day and-"
"BIG MAMA YOU LIAR!" Splinter screams, his short height towered by the table. The turtles stand behind him, looking at each other to know what to do.
Y/n stares back, holding a glass in their hand, "Lou?"
"Oh why isn't it my little snuggle muffin! And his sons." Big Mama claims in a cheerful tone, but drops it at 'his sons'. She walks up to them, hands at her hips. "I am not a liar, Lou. You're just judgemental."
"No! You are the reason that Y/n left. You manipulated them into hating me!"
"No. Darling you scared them off with your dreams of becoming even more famous than you already were."
"Guys can't we just sit down and enjoy the-"
"Then explain why they didn't tell me why they left!"
"Hey, I-"
"Shush, you little rat!"
"Says you spider Mama!"
While the ex-lovers argue the brother head over to the table, reaching for the food.
Raph asks for permission, "Hey can we have this? Since they're arguing and all?"
"Yeah. There's plenty of untouched food here." They push a few plates forward to them, sighing in defeat.
"Don't mind if I do, haha!"
"Thanks!"
"If it satisfies my specific palate then yes."
The boys munch on the food, giggling occasionally. Meanwhile Y/n holds their head in defeat, not enjoying the situation. "Looks like it hasn't improved since I left. It's like they were raised in a pub full of Brits..."
(No I am not guilty for Brit slander. You know who you are.)
——————————————————
I'm so proud of myself. I got this done in 2 hours. Which is a record for me.
I know the ending is comedic but I really went for the rivalry part more than anything.
Also one thing, why are people suddenly saying my writing style is good??? Like, did I make people worry or something?

It felt like tipping cosmic scales that you would avoid concussion only for Mikey to suffer one. The overnight Ice Capades were canceled the moment Mikey was not easily roused. The tone of the evening switched to a dutiful one that was punctuated with prepared scenarios. Each Hamato took their role from preparing Mikey for transport to actually moving him. It was the first time you got to see them as a team and they were surpassingly serious when need be. It was particularly amazing to watch Casey, of whom you had never heard quiet, not celebrate her victory.
It was only when Mikey was situated in a hospital bed did she grumble something out about not having won fairly. While Donnie prepared a machine for a scan, Leo reassured her that he understood the feeling. The blue brother had won that bet to wipe his debts on the back of Mikey’s loss and you thought one of the others might blame him for injury. You waited for the supposed show to drop, but instead Raph returned from grabbing the rest of the belongings. He had reviewed the scene and found Mikey’s fall was caused by a crack in the ice. Since destruction was the point of the evening, there wasn’t a way to assign blame. Any of them could have caused the break just as all of them had been a source of distraction for Mikey to look away from the ice.
It was all a terrible accident.
You waited in an adjacent hall as the scan was done. Once it was read and Mikey was cleared, he seemingly heard his positive prognosis and came to. He passed his concussion assessment with a ‘minor’ label. There was a collective sigh of relief and the first non-medical related question Mikey asked was if Leo could take you home.
“That what you want?” Leo ignored Mikey and looked to you for the answer.
“No… If that’s… o-okay…?” You checked with Mikey who looked one step away from crying tears of joy.
After a mild scolding about sinus pressure and its effects on concussions, the others shared what sounded like parting words with their little brother. They filed out one by one before Splinter came by. He was worried about his little boy, much to Mikey’s chagrin, and, after listening to him drawl on for a bit, Leo returned. You figured this was your actual goodbye and weren’t prepared when Leo then immediately launched in medical jargon. It took a few delirious seconds for you to produce your phone, but you were eventually taking down notes of how to routinely check Mikey’s coherency.
You were then left alone with your friend and he lazily told you what had been planned for the evening. Donnie had rigged the place for black light skating which Mikey deliriously told you looked like the aurora borealis three separate times. There were also plans for mock ice fishing which would have come around the time when the ice inevitably became busted beyond repair. Then something about hopping ice floats which made little sense to you along with perfect s’mores created by a certain genius' high tech system. The crown jewel of the evening had meant to be lying about and staring up at an aurora holograph which Mikey had hoped to surprise you with.
“I’m sure it would have been amazing…” You squeezed Mikey’s hand where you had been holding it a while.
Mikey hummed, a calculated drowsy from his third rousing. “Did you save that baby bird?”
“Baby… bird…?” You wondered nervously because Mikey had just passed his last comprehension check.
“Yeah the coo-coo… I’m pretty sure…” He squinted against heavy lids. “I heard it right before I fell… Maybe Leo snuck it in? Magicians like that kinda thing… Donnie sounded mad… Maybe an ecosystem thing…?”
You were rushed with the memory. “Turtle dove…”
“Is that the one?” Mikey hummed.
“It… it was Leo…”
A single chuff lolled his head. “That makes sense. Leo learned a bunch of bird calls to mess with Don. Nature walks are a usual thing. Categorizing species… gets boring. Leo’s pretty good. He’d throw Donnie off with all these tweets!”
You lowered your gaze.
“Turtle dove…” He snickered. “Like the song.” With a finger up, he gave a half hearted tune. “Two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree!”
You couldn’t help but give a small smile.
“Oh, hey, hey.” Mikey waved for your attention.
You looked up.
“Turtle.” He pointed at himself. “Dove.” He pointed at you.
“I d-don’t think…” Leo hadn’t been looking at Mikey when he’d made his bird call.
He’d been looking at you and Donnie.
“Doves are symbols… of peace and love…” He made a heart with his hands and let it sit against his chest. “What’sit…? They like… mate for life or something…?”
You ducked to bury your erupting blush until you saw a twitch of Mikey’s hands going slack. Glancing at him slyly, you found him dozing off. It felt terrible to blot your brow at having dodged whatever conversation that was, so you offset your guilt by tucking Mikey in to rest.
-
“The platform goes there!” Donnie pointed.
He was in full directorial mode with his goggles down and a digital clipboard somehow held in his hand. You couldn’t examine how as there was a flurry of movement around you and you were trying your best to stay out of everyone’s way. You had been designated the job distribute blankets, but that only came after the necessary ground coverage was laid. Until then, besides minimizing your existence, you ended up mostly reassuring yourself that your task wasn’t given out of pity. You were only human and didn’t have lifetimes of training like the others. As soon as you were given the go ahead, you immediately rolled out four blankets in what you hoped was a satisfactory way.
Giving a weak sigh, you hunched on your knees and looked over where additionally softness was required.
Your group had set up on a building across from where they were playing a movie in the park. Apparently the Hamatos had been commandeering this rooftop for years. It seemed like when they were younger, the family used to just lean against ledges, but with age came skill. They now had what was essentially a collapsible theater that they knew how to construct or break down at a moment’s notice. The structure was one that had been perfected to mimic stadium seating so everyone had a view without having to sit right up against the edge of a building.
Years had also given each member a preferred spot. Raph crowned the top row so he could comfortably sit however he wanted without impeding anyone’s vision. Leo had a bed rest pillow that he’d jammed against the lowest step for an easy front row seat. You and Mikey were sat beside him, manning what was essentially a picnic amongst layers of blanket. On the middle tier, the girls had their own flight with a variety of chairs that they were currently bickering over.
Since there was some time before the movie started, Raph was regaling you on his specially made pillow. It looked like an oddity with its various soft appendages, but you were assured it was spike resistant and made it so it could tuck his bulky arms in any number of ways. The oldest brother then demonstrated by curling up like a cozy king of the mountain. His lazy posture acutely contrasted Donnie who was now sat beside him on a beanbag throne. He had a cocky attitude, bolstered by a successful set up, and you refused to linger. You asked Mikey to make you a snack of his choosing for the film. Lit by the idea, he cobbled together little toasts with crumbly cheese and some kind of jam all while telling you about their origins.
Nodding, but absorbing little, he ended up making you a tasting tray of treats before the movie began.
Casey hissed a shush despite no one talking and with that silence fell over the roof.
Images on the screen were a little faint from light pollution, but the picture was a classic film that you assumed everyone had seen before. Appropriate for a wide range of viewers, you tried one of Mikey’s snacks and found it palatable in a challenging sort of way. Something that made you think, you snuck the little jars away from him as he gawked openly at the film. Turning your body so you could catch the light for the labels, you read the scrawl while pondering his endearing idiosyncrasies.
You had been forewarned that Mikey tended to fall asleep during these outings. He asked you to help him avoid it for once so you grabbed a thermos of coffee. You held up the container in a shy turn to see if anyone else wanted on and Leo held up a hand. You nodded dutifully and prepared the cups which you passed off. Mikey took his blindly and sipped it without looking. You watched him nearly miss the lid in the process and chuckled as Leo bumped his little brother while taking his own cup. Tonight would be an evening of cute interactions and you returned to your line of snacks in their adorable row.
Since your overnight stay in the med bay, you and Mikey had been closer than ever. It made the swimsuit debacle almost seem worth it, if only so the two of you could work out your relationship kinks. You felt more assured than ever in where you stood with him and that was a place of comfort. Previously, you had always felt that there was some kind of surprise coming with the way Mikey spoke of wanting to see how things panned out, but it was becoming clear, at least you thought, that his phrasing had been hyperbolic.
You were also beginning to realize you might not have heard everything he’d said the night he pitched you his feelings because you had been spiraling quite a bit at that point.
Either way, you found yourself thinking of your friendship with Mikey in the long term. You could easily imagine the two of you meeting up in your golden years. It was with that level of trust that the two of you were discussing an international trip. Nothing immediate, but also not a pipe dream, Mikey wasn’t rushing as you thought me might. He, at some point, had found your speed and was becoming more adept at it by the day. You could now push back when he said travel would be a breeze with Leo’s portals. You didn’t want to take advantage of his older brother even if Mikey’s mutant status would make airport security difficult. It had brought up an interesting discussion on what something he called cloaking brooches were. You learned about the Hidden City and it became yet another destination you would one day visit.
Mikey had impressed upon you that he considered that one further down the line than Japan.
Something about it being a little too mind blowing if you still had trouble with the subway.
His understanding was another little marker of how far you’d come. You liked to think yourself content with your current trajectory. Not plateauing by any means, but also not having intense growth, you had fallen into a pattern of small victories. The more you went out, the more the daily treks became easier. Going to work rarely proved to be challenging anymore and even grocery shopping was now something you thought more of as a task to knock out instead of something to dread every week.
You could maintain a quiet life and still live it.
The lead actress spoke a quintessential line and you felt the weight of a support system.
Something nearly as cozy as the blankets you were perched on, they were all around you in a literal sense. They were people who welcomed you and asked what you thought no matter how little you imagined you brought to the proverbial table. You hadn’t doubted him, but when Mikey mentioned Sunita had asked if you were coming to this event, you’d thought you might combust from excitement. It was a foreign emotion that had you pumping your fists into the air. Mikey had teased you about it, calling Sunita with video right then to capture your live reaction, but in doing so you felt he was reassuring you. Sunita exclaimed that she couldn’t wait to see you again and that was Mikey’s way of cementing that it hadn’t been his idea.
It was her.
It was the way Leo had given you the blanket task before you had to ask.
It was the way Donnie felt comfortable touching you.
It was the way Raph had approached you to talk about his pillow.
I was the way April clapped your back.
It was the way Casey would give you a curt nod of acknowledgment.
You felt it.
You would get closer to the others.
You weren’t sure if you were an honorary Hamato, but they all wanted you around.
Head bowing, you could only thank Mikey more.
He’d not only shown you a path, but he’d paved it too.
You had friends.
You had plans.
You had palpable growth.
The little throb in your heart wondered.
Selfish.
A little control and suddenly you thought you could ask for more.
You hated it.
In all the events following skate night, you had skirted Donnie. Not in a literal sense because you were nowhere near stealthy enough to actually avoid him, there simply hadn’t been a time where the two of you were alone enough to communicate. From being jammed in a karaoke box to the bar of some tiny improv show that someone’s friend of a friend had needed to fill the few seats with, none of the outings allowed interaction. For you it had mostly been a test of maneuvering foreign spaces without messing anything up and in that regard you’d done fabulously.
You were also hyper aware of the purple turtle.
Something you despised yourself for doing, you could find yourself carrying a bouquet to an unknown comedian and knew exactly how many steps Donnie was away from you at all times. His voice found your ears in a crowd no matter how mundane and you could nearly sense the second he decided to leave an event he was no longer interested in.
He’d been the first to exit every time.
You bet tonight would be no different.
Forcing yourself back to the screen, you tried to ignore the weighty purple aura behind you and actually watch.
You rewatched movies.
You had never had a problem before.
It shouldn’t be one now.
You would watch this movie.
You would pack up the set.
You would go home.
It would be fun.
You weren’t supposed to get close to him.
This was how it was supposed to be.
You were Mikey’s friend.
The others knew the distinction.
They asked you to come along, not out themselves.
It was attention you reveled in, but you knew your place.
Missing another exchange in the movie, you tried not to sigh at the spiral of your thoughts and turned to Mikey with the intention of asking him to pass the basket. Working out exactly which silent gestures would work, your eyes fell on his slack form. Coffee tipped and clearly empty in hand, he was fast asleep with a hanging jaw.
You covered your mouth to stifle a giggle and unearthed your phone.
Imagining this was what the sun did at night, you took a few quiet pictures until you heard a voice above you.
“Send me those.” April whispered with a wide grin.
You nodded before realizing you didn’t have her number. You meant to translate it, but April whipped out her phone and held it up in a knowing hand. Trading with her and exchanging contact information, it was ducked in close that you both heard a creak. Something faint, almost like cranking wood, you watched a single nervous bead of sweat drip down April’s brow before she was flung backwards.
Your hands flew to the step that separated you and you found her legs up and her chair broken.
Beside her Casey arched her whole body out of her own seat and it garnered your attention. The woman’s top teeth tore into her bottom lip and her leg came up for a blurry flurry of movement as she held herself back. Tears forming in her eyes, you were caught wondering over who you should check on first when Sunita poked her head out, last in line.
“Casey, stop. It’s not funny.” Sunita held a hand above Casey’s head so a blob of green dripped and swallowed her up.
You thought the woman might suffocate, but instead you watched as she took the cue to burst out into laughter that was completely silent from within the goo.
“Aps, you alright?” Sunita crawled around Casey’s spasming form.
“Pride. My pride hurts most.” April shoved an arm behind her.
Donnie snorted once and turned his head as soon as April shot him a death glare.
Beside him you watched Raph’s tail flick with amusement, but he kept his eyes off the scene.
“You know…” Sunita led, taking on an odd flare to her usual bubbly nature. “We could share mine…”
April’s rage turned to the semi-translucent direction.
“You only have to admit my hammock chair is the most comfortable.” The slight menace disappearing, Sunita clasped her hands sweetly.
“Oh, hell no!” April flew onto her knees and glowered. “This was a technicality! You know how old my shit was!”
Sunita pressed a sticky finger to her lips. “Huh? I thought you took great care of it.”
“Cut the cuteness!” April ripped the goo off Casey’s face just as the woman was starting to turn a shade of dark teal within the green slime. “I bet you sabotaged it! You’ve been trying for months to get me to sit in your dumb ice cream scoop or maybe ugly miss soccer mom ‘it has an umbrella attachment’ here finally got tired of us ragging on her!”
Casey tried to show her resentment even though she was desperately siphoning oxygen.
Leo gave a single sharp shush.
Sunita continued to beam. “Guess you’re stuck then… Shame! We could have gotten so cozy...” With that the slime yokai retreated and rocked down with a comfy wiggle back into her seat.
April sat in a dark shade of humiliation that rivaled Casey’s.
The latter of which got back into her own chair and made only the sound of clearing her throat as she returned to the movie.
You stared helplessly at April, not wanting to add to the injury, but also concerned.
She eventually felt it along with the loss of her other options. “I’m fine…”
“Y-You… um… i-if y-you wanted… you could… sit with us?” You gestured and scooted over to show you could easily make room on the blanket.
There must have even more chair based conflict you missed because the downcast gaze April gave your option had a sharp bitterness to it.
“S-sorry…” You shrank down though the step was nowhere near tall enough to hide you.
“Nah, you’re good. It isn’t your fault…” She sighed heavily before her next inhale seemed to give her an idea.
You watched with growing curiosity as she calculated the wattage of a bright smile and sent it behind her.
“Hey, Donnie…” She cooed saccharine sweetness.
“No.” He didn’t look.
“But you haven’t heard-”
“I’m not getting on Sunita’s bad side again.”
“Again?!” April spun to check with the slime yokai and found the jelly woman eating gummy candy.
Your lips turned down at the thought of the pseudo-cannibalism.
“She put googlyschootz in the tank’s gas tank after I sided with you in the koala debate.” Donnie glowered down.
“They’re dumb!” April huffed.
Leo turned around with a vein popping out of his head.
April gave him a pleading smile.
He narrowed his gaze with a threat that said she was on borrowed time before turning back to the screen.
April turned silent desperation up at Donnie.
He offered only a flick of his gaze before he went back to listlessly watching the screen.
It felt like ticking seconds before April climbed the step with renewed vigor. “Move over!”
“No! No, no, no!” Donnie squabbled as she tried to shove him out of the bean bag. “No touchie!”
You tented your hands over your mouth as you watched the two try to silently slap each other.
Leo gave a loud groan. “What’ll it take to shut you both up!?”
“Halve the debt.” Donnie spoke without missing a beat.
“Get out of here!” Leo spun around.
“It’s still more than you owed me!” Donnie seethed.
“You’re a grown ass man! Learn to share!” April tried to wedge her way in, but Donnie butted her out with his hip.
“Joke’s on you, having brothers only made me creative!” Donnie edged mania.
Leo tapped a weighty finger before giving a growly exhale. “Third.”
“Two-fifths!”
“I only work with real numbers.” Leo’s lip curled.
“That is-Would you stop!?” Donnie kicked April off the bean bag.
She landed on her ass and Casey hunched forward with the threat of another cackling fit.
Other than little spurts of Casey trying to contain herself everything quieted for a moment until April rose up with her head hung. Looking almost like she’d thrown in the towel, you got a front row seat as an evil glint appeared in her eye.
You resisted the urge to pull the blanket over your head.
“Enough!” She shouted and threw out her arms. In a flash of ghostly green energy, a bat appeared in her hand. In an audible squeeze of the handle, she then turned with it ready to swing at Donnie. “Wanna talk about debts, D? Let’s chat!”
The fear that ran across Donnie’s face was palpable.
You could feel the similar terror rip through Raph and Leo.
You were sure Mikey had once said April was a true-blue New Yorker.
“How about the summer school I had to take after you blew the science lab every-” She rolled her neck. “-single-” She flexed her grip. “-semester!?”
Donnie’s hands meekly began to lift.
“Or the Vomitello incident of ‘22? The zombie food awakening during my Channel 5 internship?! Throwing away my signed Warren Stone lavalier!?!? Hmm!?!?”
In a crawling inch, Donnie slid out of his seat until he sat at the base of it.
“That’s what I thought.” April’s shoulders fell with an eerie calm and her bat disappeared. “You know I hate pulling rank, but you were being a real jerk.”
Donnie’s legs fell over onto the middle platform and his feet skirted the wreckage of Aprils’ chair. April happy snuggled into his beanbag and everyone else went slack as the tension passed. The sounds from the film returning, you watched Donnie openly sulk. Aprils legs tucked to one side which game Donnie room to use the front of the beanbag as a backrest. He refused to slouch and instead hunkered forward were, every so often, he would toe broken chair bits. He was the picture of sadness and your heart squeezed.
There was nothing you could do.
You slithered, your own sorrowful, back to your spot and found Mikey now curled up on his side. His snoozing form gave you a bubble of happiness, but it wasn’t enough to buoy yourself. You moved his empty coffee cup away just for something to do. It led to you cleaning up a few other things and adjusting the basket until he had a more than enough space to toss and turn if he wanted. Reviewing his slack form, the thump of your heart beat a sad drum and you tried to will your gaze up to the screen.
A something rattled not unlike maracas to your left.
Lifting to look at it by instinct alone, you found Leo was holding out a box of candy with a reach that spanned over Mikey’s form.
You blinked a little straighter at it before tracing up Leo’s arm to his face.
The slider had a tilt to his lips and only flicked his gaze behind you before returning his pupils to yours.
You understood.
It was for Donnie.
Leo was trying to pass on a gift for his guilt.
You had a feeling Leo felt bad for not accepting the bet splitting offer.
He felt responsible for Donnie getting kicked from his spot.
It wasn’t the best peace treaty offer, but it was one all the same.
You shifted your weight, preparing to reach for it when you remembered a certain someone.
You did you own pupil flick toward Sunita who was sat behind Leo and very much able to see exactly what was occurring in front of her.
Leo only shrugged and gave the box another faint shake.
You guessed he was taking his chances with upsetting the slime yokai.
You had a feeling as the messenger, you would be spared.
You grabbed the candy with careful attention so the contents wouldn’t shift and glanced back to Donnie’s crestfallen form. He hadn’t moved in the slightest, let alone noticed what had just transpired. It made you feel worse for him as you crawled up the little step. The moment the rubbish before him was disturbed by something other than his own feet, he shot his gaze up with wary concern.
He caught you mid motion, with one leg hoisted, and you felt like an intruder crawling in through a window. Scrambling for it, the box slipped between your grip and rattled loudly which garnered an irritated click from Leo. Donnie moved to help, doing a sweep with his leg to kick away the rest of April’s chair, and knelt down in the new space afforded. You met him in the middle where he caught the other end of the box and you both leaned in for a hushed exchange.
“From Leo.” You told him.
Donnie rolled his eyes. “If he thinks this makes up for…”
“I’m not… sure? He didn’t say anything. He only asked me to pass his.”
“Oh.” Donnie’s lips rounded.
“Do… do you like these?” You wondered.
Donnie’s lids lowered as he looked at the box. “They’re my favorite movie theater snack.”
“Not your favorite usual snack?” You tilted your head at his distinction.
“Occasion is of the utmost importance.” He gave a version of a smug smile.
“True…” You ruminated over the snack Mikey had given you. “Something not too loud for movies.”
“Exactly.” His eyes shone as you understood.
You nodded and felt the alarms in your head that you were prolonging the exchange. “I…I hope… it helps…”
“Are you not enjoying the film…?” He asked, having not properly taken the candy yet.
You also hadn’t let go. “It’s… fine… I’ve seen it before…”
“I see…” Donnie’s gaze shifted as he seemed to think of something.
Let go.
You willed your fingers to release.
“Want… some?” Donnie tapped a waiting finger to the box.
No. “I-it’s y-yours, I c-couldn’t-”
“I don’t mind. Seems like you do.”
You didn’t. “W-well…”
“Come on.” With a tug to his end, he used the candy to pull you over.
You haplessly followed and sat behind him on the top step.
Finally letting go, your heart raced out of your chest as he opened the box up. Once he peeled back the cardboard to his liking, he then offered you the first pick. You grabbed a few pieces and held them close to your chest.
“How many times?”
You jarred and looked at him.
“Have you seen it?” He used gesturing to the film as part of his movement to toss some candy into his mouth.
“A b-bunch… I guess…?”
Donnie hummed with faint interest before offering you the box again.
You shook your head and revealed you still had your first handful.
“I told you, it’s fine.” Even though his voice was turned down low, you could still hear the scoff to him.
Only feeling worthy because of it, you took a single piece and put it in your mouth. The sweetness tickled your tongue and for the first time in you couldn’t remember, you saw the screen. “Oh…” You slurred a little around the treat you hadn’t bitten yet. “That’s parmesan cheese.”
“What?” He leaned closer to you with an incredulous air.
Your blood pressure noticed. “N-Not t-the c-candy! T-the… dandruff… I-n the m-movie! It’s…It’s a fun… fact?”
Donnie bobbed with a bit of laughter and ate some more candy. “A bunch was not hyperbole. You must be a big fan.”
“I’m not… I don’t know… I g-guess I find, um… behind the scenes… interesting?”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah…” You confirmed and ate another sweet. “Seeing…” The swirl on your tongue seemed to help loosen it.  “… what they decide… to keep or cut… how creative they get… it’s an interesting process…”
Donnie nodded. “I’ve got my own encyclopedic knowledge of something similar.”
“You… do?” Usually people got fatigued after one or two facts.
He had a hum to him that seemed to think you already knew.
You searched your mind hoping to place it.
For a moment, you had nothing.
Then you were struck with a sharp memory that also happened to be about movies. “Jupiter Jim and Lou Jitsu.”
Donnie grinned brightly. “Not common knowledge, but it’s the masses' loss and my gain.”
You blinked as if forcing a shutter to go off so you could remember him like this always.
He offered you the box again.
This time you took a few more pieces.
“Tell me another.” He urged.
“T-the… d-drugs they smoke… it’s actually oregano…” You looked away toward the screen to hide your embarrassment.
“They actually smoked it?”
You gave a tight nod.
Donnie swallowed a chuff and leaned back against the beanbag in what looked like an uncomfortable contortion of his body.
“I…”
He waited with a lazy smile.
You wished you had debated as you pressed your head to the cushion beside him. “I’ve… always wondered… d-did it smell like pizza? When they l-lit it…”
This time a little of his laugh leaked out. “Sounds like an easily testable theory.”
“Mikey’s going to miss his spices.”
“If he notices.” Donnie wiggled his brows and rolled onto his side to face you with the beanbag propping up his body. “Keep going.”
You mirrored him, but curled your hands up beside your cheek. “Each actor took a piece of the set home.”
“Which parts?”
You told him that and more. After exhausting what you knew about this movie, you started telling him about others from this director. He filled in spaces, knowing some factoids himself, but otherwise continued to prompt you. Before you knew it, you had both run off on some sort of tangent and were talking about crash test dummies when Leo stood and stretched loudly.
“Dinner? I’m craving biscuits and gravy!” Leo rumbled with desire.
“You’ve described a breakfast dish and it is night.” Casey flattened her hand out in the air as if watching Leo commit some heinous act.
“There are no brinner haters. Only people who haven’t had good enough brinner.” Leo smirked in return.
“Sausage, bacon, eggs, ham…” Raph swooned and rolled over to squeeze his pillow dreamily to his chest. “We’re going with or without you Case!”
“With!” She protested with her hackles up. “I’m already here!”
“Of course you are…” Sunita patted the other woman on the shoulder.
“Traitor says what?” April rushed.
“What?” Sunita blinked before it set in and she gave a burst of laughter. “You got me!”
April smirked and jumped straight down to Mikey’s level. “Hey, Chef. Time to wake and bake!”
“B-bake?” He roused, blearily. “I leave the oven on again?”
“Nah, we’re getting artery clogging diner food.”
“Biscuits and gravy?” Mikey rolled over with purpose to glimpse Leo.
The blue brother gave a thumbs up and looked skyward with the promise of grease.
“Let’s go!” Mikey cheered and went to look for you.
“Up here.” You waved from where you had stood up to put a little distance between yourself and Donnie.
He squinted at you for a long moment.
The scrutiny had you feeling dizzy.
“April wasn’t your chair right there?” Mikey blurted out.
Your eyes rolled back with relief.
“I’ll catch you up.” She tucked her hands under his arm and yanked him up before he was ready.
Mikey squawked and got to his feet before scolding her.
She took it in stride and Donnie stepped into his directorial position. “Alright people, let’s get this packed up!”
You lingered until he was done giving a few instructions. “Thanks… for listening to me.”
“I asked.” He said simply and you couldn’t tell where his gaze was due to his goggles.
You gave a faint nod and meant to step away before you threw something over your shoulder at him. “I’d… love to hear what you got about your movies...”
Fleeing the scene, you nearly tripped over a step.
Mikey chuckled below you as he picked up the basket and asked how you liked the snack he’d made. You barely remembered and offered your best vague descriptions. Doing part two of your blanket-related job, retrieval, you helped pack up and Leo sliced a portal that he promised held decadence in the form of a truck stop bathroom. He was bemoaned for his description and you were eventually ushered through where you emerged outside a 24-hour diner. Something classic, the family flowed around you until you were inside.
A smart looking pig mutant in an adorable waitress uniform took your order and had Raph openly stumbling as he bit back on ordering his meaty delights. She openly teased him for it and dismissed the discrepancy about pork products. Writing his meal down for him as he was a ‘biggun,’ she moved through taking others’ decisions down. You meant to peep out something small, but Mikey cut in asking if you’d share with him. Nodding as it helped alleviate your choice, he ordered, and you sunk into the booth you’d shoved into.
Without a big corner seat to sit the whole group, the gang had split up between two booths, back to back. With you squished into the middle, Mikey flanked you and April had dragged Raph with her across the table. It meant immediately behind you sat Donnie with Leo and Casey and Sunita were in a tactically advantageous position as far away from April as possible. Knowing you were in the middle of some cold war zone, you listened to Leo and Mikey yak about what kind of gravy it was and if it ruined their New York heritage.
“Firstly, there are 80 titular films.”
Your eyes shot wide as Donnie’s voice coaxed your ear.
“If we start in order-”
“There’s no way.” You turned to find the purple brother’s chin resting on the backrest that separated you two.
“Pardon?” He brought up a brow that regarded your challenge as a weak one.
“Godzilla has like 30! There’s no way this… space guy I’ve never heard of has more than twice that!” You sent huge eyes at him.
“The Godzilla franchise has its merits, but it’s not Jupiter Jim.” Donnie grinned deviously.
“Show me.” You straightened to see him better.
As if knowing you’d ask, Donnie’s arm slunk over the back of the booth with a wiki up.
You scrolled up and down it. “How…?”
“Anything is possible with a low budget, which brings me to my first fact…”
Buckling up in a very metaphorical way, Donnie began to tick off movie facts one at a time. Keeping the plot vague as there seemed to be an implication that you would soon watch the movies, you became enthralled with the many little details. A true work of passion, the story spanned a scripted galaxy until Donnie began to piece in what they found out was real. There were actual yokai who the sometimes delusional Marcus Moncrief would confuse for aliens and it turned out several of his films had mistakenly captured true events.
Your food arrived and you only snuck bites of it in order to continue to listen to Donnie’s spiel. Asking your own questions or positing your own thoughts gave him a chance to eat. Finding a good balance, you often caught Mikey in some of your backswings. He seemed to be openly enjoying the conversation which broadened your sphere of consciousness. Now realizing the entire group was quiet and listening in, you flushed at being the center of attention and poked at a complimentary bowl of fruit.
The lull prompted Donnie to taper off where he was explaining something about a Pluto Vacation.
Moving a honeydew around, you heard him give a faint huff. “If you’re going to play with your food, give me your grapes.”
You offered them up and tried not to look at him.
He plucked only one when he’d mentioned plural and you were forced to glance as he left you holding the bowl.
His profile was waiting and only when he was sure he had your eye did he bring the morsel to his lips. A contrasting shade of purple to his own, he bit only the tip of it and in a quick suck, shriveled the berry.
“W-what?” The syllable popped out of you.
He extracted the rind and it disappeared over into his booth to be disposed of. “Problem?”
“What was that?” You giggled and tried to see where he’d put the grape husk.
He blocked you with his body. “I don’t like the texture.”
“Then why eat it?” Your features scrunched in smiling confusion.
“I like the juice.”
“Then order juice!” More laughs leaked from you.
He looked to be near gloating. “I dislike the sugar content.”
“Grapes are sugary!” You covered your mouth.
“Added sugar.” He clarified, now smarmy.
“Make your own.” You offered the bowl.
He plucked another single grape. “There’s a process that includes straining the pulp.”
“Of course, you’ve tried.” You shook your head, hopelessly.
“Even the finest sieve did not catch all the particulates! This is truly the only way.” He held a purple bud up high and tipped his head back ready to suck another’s juices.
“You’re a grape vampire!”
“You know there were color sucking creatures in Jupiter Jim and the Sepia Chase…”
“Trying to save money on color film?” You stole the grape back from him as he was distracted.
He turned with a faint leer. “Nice catch, but no…” In a sweep he caught the other two from your bowl. “There is more to it!” Biting the end of both at the same time, he expertly drained them.
“You desecrate fruit’s good name!”
“And he’s not even caught up on the comics.” Leo mused.
“There’s comics?” You glanced at the blue brother, on too much of a high to even notice he had butt into the conversation.
Leo’s eyes gave a similar glint to Donnie’s.
“We’re discussing film!” Donnie hissed.
“I don’t know…” Leo swirled his head. “I was hearing mostly fun facts and I’m chock full of ‘em!”
“Leo owns every single Jupiter Jim comic.” Mikey added.
“No, back to the movies! We do sing-a-longs to the musical ones every year. You should come!” April offered.
“Oh, oh! Does that mean I’m allowed back?” Sunita bounced in her seat.
“Did ya learn the words?” Raph folded his arms. “I may not be much for musical theater, but three strikes you’re out on the lyrics is a pretty good one.”
“Pretty sure they don’t kick the performers if they mess up Rose's Turn too many times…” Leo pointed with his fork.
“They should! What’s the point of studious practice if there isn’t the threat of torture?” Casey grumbled.
“Yeah, yeah, we’ve all seen you cry at Carmen.” April remarked.
A gasp heard round the dinner, everyone lit up with debate and you were left blinking at what happened.
Suddenly alone amongst a crowd, you turned to find Donnie staring at Leo with an odd expression.
It brought your eye from studying him to the grape you’d stolen and something in you urged you to reach out to touch him.
He animated with a silent startle and you offered him the berry in your outstretched palm. “Do… the color suckers come before or after Star-Gazer Chacón?”
Donnie’s gaze oozed affection as he both took the grape and your detail-oriented attention in. “Before…” You butted up close against the back of the booth where he pressed to meet you and continued his facts.

2012 TMNT x Rise! Reader
PLEASE GO TO @simp999 FOR THE SAME POST, IT'S MY MAIN BLOG, I GOTTA DELETE THIS ONE! If you're so kind as to leave a comment or a follow, please go to the other blog!!
Ship:2012 Donatello x reader + platonic Leo, Raph, Mikey :)) Word count: 3.4k (save me) A/N: We really need more platonic tmnt content, it's so cute! <3 And happy mutation day to the turtles!
Tumblr media
“Donnie? And the rest of the guys?” It was somewhat dark out, the early winter months rolling around.The mutant turtles looked at the short figure, surprised that they knew who at least one of them was. Donatello muttered to himself, wondering who this new person was lurking in the same back alleyway as his brothers and him.
He flinched, almost instantly feeling a pair of small hands cup his face. He was about to attempt to sweep your feet from under you with his bo staff, but he hadn’t sensed any danger from you whatsoever. “You guys all look different.” You seemed even more confused at this point, this was most definitely not your Donnie. Your Don was at least a few inches shorter than this one and would have most likely sent a sarcastic comment your way by now. You glanced to your left to see a much smaller Raphael sending an irritated glare your way. That’s odd, your Raph would have probably asked if you needed any help.
Then, it clicked. “HE SENT ME TO ANOTHER UNIVERSE?!”
You now appeared to be absolutely insane, and that’s coming from a bunch of mutant turtles. You mutter to yourself about “kicking Donnie's ass” and “this wasn’t the plan!”. Raphael and Leo take a fighting stance, but before they try anything, the new Donnie tries to calm you down and understand what’s going on. You’re still panicking but you try your best to explain how you’re from a different universe and that you got transported here. “-Then Leo from my universe accidentally pushed me into Don’s newest invention- this wasn’t supposed to happen! I was just trying to help out-” You cut yourself off, remembering something. You quickly pull up your left sleeve to see the wristwatch ‘your’ Donatello made for you. You swiftly begin to type on it, trying anything you can to send any messages back to him, your location, anything at all, but nothing works. The purple masked turtle noticed how advanced your watch is, seeing how a hologram, as well as some sort of keyboard, popped up. He’s never seen anything quite like it. “Hey, um, do you happen to know what year you're from? We don’t have access to that kind of technology - yet that is.”
Raph and Leo put away their weapons after noticing how calm Donatello was with you, still keeping their guard up. “Oh, yes! The year I was in was 2018. My Donnie made me this trinket for my birthday. It’s pretty useful-” you attempt to send another message, failing once again, “-when it works, of course.” “So what now? Do we let them hang out with us? I think they seem pretty cool!” Michelangelo butts in, tired of having to act like such an innocent-looking person is a threat. “Mikey, you idiot, we don’t even know them! How could we possibly-” “I think we should let them stay with us for the time being, if they have no one else to stay with.” Donatello turns his head to you, “It seems you were quite close with your version of us, right?” “Yeah! I hung out with them at the lair all the time. Spent most of my time challenging them to super-smash bros or assisting Don in whatever project he was working on.” You were almost excited to give your answer, very much enjoying the time you used to spent with the boys. Then the fear sunk in once again. “He’s probably trying to bring me back, right? I won’t be stuck here forever?” You too a deep breath in. “I already miss them, even if they were loud.”
The turtles from this universe noticed how worried you appeared, being away from your closest friends, and all ultimately deciding to bring you to see master Splinter. On the way, Mikey wouldn’t stop nagging you with all sorts of questions; name, hobbies, favorite food, if you like pizza, anything he could come up with. You answered every one of them enthusiastically, throwing a fond memory in the mix every once in a while.
“So, dude, you said earlier that we look different than your guys, right? What do they look like?” “Well, Raph and Donnie are taller- oh!” Mikey tilted his head your way at your exclamation, watching you pat yourself down.
“Still got it! I’ve got some pictures of them on my phone!” You didn’t have any connection, but you still had the pictures saved in your gallery. You pulled up one with everyone there. It was a little blurry, but you could still easily make out yourself in the bottom left corner of the photo. Raph was trailing behind Mikey, who was on his flying skateboard in the background. A little closer was Donnie tinkering with some scrap parts with a smirk on his face, and finally, Leo sitting on the back of the couch casually cheering Mikey on.
You began to swipe through pictures of you and the boys individually. Raph training with you - Mikey must have snatched that picture, you thought. A selfie of yourself and Leo, who was covering his face, in front of the scoreboard after challenging him at Mario Kart and winning. Mikey who fell asleep on you, pencil in hand and sketchbook in his lap after one of your regular drawing sessions. Finally, a blurry selfie of you surprise-hugging Donatello from behind, in his lab. You could clearly see his surprised expression along with a smile, a big toothy grin covering your face. You gave a short backstory on all of them while showing them, proving that you really were close friends. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Eventually, you met up with Splinter, politely asking questions and answering some. You were much calmer and more respectful than the turtles were expecting, given how excitable and easy-going you seemed. Finally, you left his meditation room, telling the turtles what you assumed would be your plan. “I figure that my Donnie’s probably trying his best to open another portal, but we have no way of communication. It’s basically just a waiting game now. Master Splinter says it’s okay if I chill with you guys, is that alright with you?” Mikey was the first to agree, as long as you got to hang out and draw with him just like the other version of him did. Donnie agreed as well, feeling some sort of connection, almost as if he knew you in a way. He loved the idea of having another nerdy person to help him with his inventions, and especially to spend time with. Leo went along with it, deciding you weren’t a threat. He also felt that you might bring some joy, changing up their routine a bit. Same old same old isn’t always the best. Raph was the last, begrudgingly agreeing, but only because you didn’t seem like “too much of a bother.” He earned himself a whack on the back of his head for that. Donnie decided to pull you away from the others, saying that you probably have some experience with cool tech and could help him out with some of his inventions. You walked over to Donatello’s lab, still admired by the inventions he had even if they weren’t built with all the new tech you had. No matter what Donnie makes, it’s always pretty cool. That definitely doesn’t change throughout universes. He sat down in his rolling chair while you found a comfortable stool to sit on, bringing it close to his work so you could watch. Every so often you would point out something he could do better, and he’d be amazed by your knowledge. You enjoyed the time you spent with him, swaying your feet on the stool while he hunched over his desk, tightening one of the screws with a screwdriver.
“And done!” He exclaimed, bringing his head up to look at you, not realizing how close your face was from watching him work. You barely got to see Donnie’s face heat up before he turned his head away from you, muttering a small “sorry”. You let out a short giggle, before complimenting his work.
“All right, let’s test this thing out! It better work, let’s hope it doesn’t just look cool for nothing.” You spoke up, not wanting him to feel awkward around you.
After testing it out, Leonardo came in to tell you two that supper was ready. The other two brothers were already on the couch, pizza in hand, watching some show on tv. You joined them on the couch after grabbing your own piece. Raph quietly scooted a little farther away while you dramatically put a hand on your chest, as if insulted by the act alone. Mikey snickered at your small interaction.
“So, you guys have any games?”
Mikey gulped down his last bite of pizza and proceeded to list off a bunch of Wii games they had. You liked the idea of challenging them to Mario kart, so you did just that. Raph refused to admit that he wanted to hang out with the newbie but stuck around close enough to watch you all battle it out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A few hours of gaming later, Raph eventually joined, and all of the boys were much more comfortable with you around. Mikey was laying in your lap, Donatello was sitting right next to you, your knees or elbows bumping every so often from the game, and Leo was sitting right in front of you. You were slowly getting tired, so you gave up your remote for the night, opting to watch the brothers duke it out instead. Eventually, soft snores could be heard from Donnie’s shoulder and slightly louder ones from your lap. Leo took notice of this and finally stood up and spoke quietly: “That’s it for tonight, we can have more fun tomorrow. We should all get some sleep.” He then walked away and Raphael soon followed. ..Leaving Donnie stuck with you sleeping on him, him not wanting to wake you up, of course. He contemplated trying to move you gently, but he didn’t have the heart to move you when you looked so adorably comfortable. He ended up making do with the blankets and pillows he had within reach, following you into dreamland.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The next day, you awoke with Mikey wrapped up comfortably in your arms, while a cozy pillow was supporting your head. You gently rolled Mikey off of you, trudging towards the smell of pancakes. Plates were being dished out by Donnie. Leo was passing by you, mumbling a short “good morning,” most likely on his way to go get Mikey. Raph was already sitting at the table, letting out a big yawn. “Mornin’ guys!” Donnie looked up to see you in the doorway, while Raph once again pretended that you didn’t exist. “Oh! Good morning, y/n,” he places the last plate down on the table, “Is there anything you’d like to drink?” You tell him that a small glass of milk sounds nice, and complementing how good the food smells. He thanks you and Mikey and Leo walk into the kitchen together, Mikey looking much more groggy than hs brother, rubbing the sleep out of one of his eyes. Breakfast goes by quickly. You notice that you’re the second one done, Raph being the first. Speaking of him, where is he? You decide to go check the training room, hearing small grunts as you get closer. Eventually, you’re in the doorway, watching Raph send kicks and punches toward a poor punching bag. Once he finally stops for a water break is when he notices you.
“Holy hell dude, when did you get here?” You shrugged and decided to irk him, hoping to get a friendly fight out of him. You walk towards him slowly, ready to dig your own grave. “I thought you were a ninja, aren’t you supposed to know when people sneak up on you?” He catches a stupid smirk on your face, deciding that he’s had enough with the new person. Raph pretends to send a smile your way, (which he was very bad at), before attacking you with roundhouse kick to the head. Not a hard one of course, just enough to make it so you’d stay clear from his path. Or so he thought. You quickly block his kick with a middle block, twisting your hand around his leg and grabbing it, holding it in place so you can send a kick back at him with momentum. Before you can land a hit, he breaks his leg free and manages to block just in time. He gives you no time before attempting to attack again, the back-and-forth banter becoming enjoyable. He’s only ever had the same few opponents to practice with, so this felt nice. Instead of using anger to fuel his powerful moves, he was enjoying it. Eventually, you grabbed his hand and bent his finger in a way it wasn’t supposed to, his body not allowing him to go the way he wanted anymore. You followed through and sent him to the ground, hand behind his back, face planted on the ground, you sitting on his shell claiming victory. You stand up, after making sure he knew he lost of course, and offered him a hand. You were definitely expecting another attack, maybe he’d drag you to the ground with him? But instead, you were met with a handshake along with a praise of your skill. Overall, it’s safe to say he doesn’t ignore your presence anymore. He finally sees you as someone near his level, or at least, someone who is worth his time. Once the sparring session is over, as Raphael walks out, Leonardo walks in. You were beginning some stretches, knowing it’ll save you from being too sore later. Leo comes next to you and asks if he can join in. he begins to lead some cooldowns, you following along for some, and doing your own thing for others.
“I’m surprised you got Raph to like you so quickly, is he and yours alike?”“Honestly, no, not at all. My Raph is very much a big teddy bear. Sure, he enjoys sparring, but he’s always too afraid to hurt me. What a big softie. I usually end up sparring with my Leo instead if it comes to it.” You glance at him, then focus back on your stretching, “You’re much calmer than my Leo. I won’t say he’s energetic, but most definitely more egotistical. You’re almost a nice break from all his chat about being the best, really.” “Me? Egotistical? I don’t see it.” You quirk a brow up at him, not believing it. He may be from a different universe, but it’s still Leonardo. “Okay, maybe a little. But it’s much better than not being confident in your moves. Holding back is the worst thing you can do in a fight..” You nod at him, glad he has more common sense than your Leonardo back home. You stand back up from stretching your legs, leaving the dojo right after kindly bidding your goodbye.
You decide to head to Mikey’s room, looking for him, since you haven’t spent much time with him yet. As soon as you open the door, you’re tackled in a hug and spun around. “You’re here to hang out with me! Finally! Alright, do you wanna draw or play on the Wii?”You figure your heart had raced hard enough today, so you opted to draw. (Mario Kart is difficult against the guys, okay?) It may not be what you expected from Mikey, maybe something more along the lines of playing pranks on his brothers or sneaking out for pizza, but he was just glad to spend some quality time with a cool new person. He quickly gathered some pencils and sketchbooks while you plopped down on his bed. After picking everything up, he lays down on your lap once again, finding a comfortable position for the both of you. Even if you’re doing a quiet activity like drawing, it won’t be quiet for long with Mikey around. A few minutes after drawing he starts shooting questions your way, just about the same scenario as yesterday happening once again. You were glad to answer all of his questions. He was happy to listen to your stories, giddy that he was learning more about you. After a while of chatting and drawing, you finished and wanted to give your neck a break from looking downwards at your paper. You put your pencil down and rested your head on the pillow behind you, absentmindedly toying with the strands of Mikey’s mask; something you did fairly often with your Mikey.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s been nearly two weeks since you first met the turtles and you had gotten to spend a lot of time with them. They helped a ton when you felt lonely or lost without your version of them. Of course, you still missed Raph’s bear hugs, Don’s snarky remarks, Leo’s ego and Mikey’s energy. But theturlesyou werewith now were still fun to hang out with. Currently, you and the rest of the boys were out on patrol. They had no destination or mission set, it was mostly just to get out of the hideout. Mikey was ahead of the group, balancing on the railing of the building you guys were walking on the roof of. All of a sudden, you hear a familiar voice that immediately brings a wide smile scross your features. “Y/N?! Are you here?”
You jumped down from the building, hearing the voice coming from the alley below. The turtles were too slow to catch you, but luckily, the owner of the voice was there.
“DONNIE!”
You jumped straight into his arms, making him grunt from the impact, then spinning you around. “Oh, how I missed my small lab assistant! Now I don’t have to deal with Leo’s antics anymore! He gets so much more annoying when you’re not around,” he carefully put you down and places a hand on his hip, ”Seriously, I had to make my lab portal-proof, just so that he wouldn’t barge-”The next thing Donatello knew, you were you of his reach and holding both of your Mikey’s hands. “I missed you so much! We need to hang out again! It was so loney without you~” He gave you his best puppy-dog eyes, hoping you’d spend your time with him first. You hugged him tight, promising to hang out and not leave his side. But of course, a mystic portal had opened up underneath you, leading you to fall into your Leo’s arms. “Falling for me?-” he felt a metal staff hit the back of his head, along with an  “Absolutely not, ‘Nardo.” from behind him. While he was distracted, your Raph had gently picked you up and put you on his shoulders with a smile on his face, mimicking yours. He was just glad to have you back. Before Your Leo and Donnie could continue bickering, you wanted to introduce your boys to the turtles that you got to hang out with for the past weeks.
With sparkles in your eyes, you introduced them to the other versions of them. Recalling your favorite memories while hanging out, you couldn’t help but keep a smile plastered on your face. Until you remembered something. “Hey, Don?” The taller boy was about to reply, but was cut off by a ‘hmm?’ From your Donnie.
He felt a slight pain in his chest. This whole time whenever you’d say ‘My boys’ or ‘my Donnie’ he felt.. important to you. Even if you weren’t talking about him. But now he realised that he wasn’t special to you anymore. You guys weren’t really friends, he was just there to try to replicate your Donnie. To make you feel less lonely. Why did he think you really did enjoy his company? Of course you didn’t. He could never dream of you and him- “Can I come back and see them again? I don’t wanna leave them. I know it would mess up the timeline if I stayed for too long, but- I love hanging out with them. Will the portal allow inter-dimentional travelling more than once?...” Your new friend’s eyes grew wide, brimming with tears. He saw your mouth move, but could no longer hear the words coming from it. You.. enjoyed your time with them? You want to hang out again? .
.
. Maybe he did have a chance with you after all.
Do I know you? <3
2012 TMNT x Rise! Reader (old-ish, I've gotten much better at writing. Editing simply isn't enough for this one.)
Pt. 2
Ship: 2012 Donatello x reader + platonic Leo, Raph, Mikey :))
Word count: 3.4k (save me)
A/N: We really need more platonic tmnt content, it's so cute! <3 And happy mutation day to the turtles!
Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Donnie? And the rest of the guys?”
It was somewhat dark out, the early winter months rolling around swiftly. The mutant turtles looked at the short figure, surprised that they knew who at least one of them was. Donatello muttered to himself, wondering who this new person was lurking in the same back alleyway as his brothers and him.
He flinched, almost instantly feeling a pair of small hands cup his face. He was about to attempt to sweep your feet from under you with his bo staff, but he hadn’t sensed any danger from you whatsoever.
“You guys all look different.” You seemed even more confused at this point, this was most definitely not your Donnie. Your Don was at least a few inches shorter than this one and would have most likely sent a sarcastic comment your way by now. You glanced to your left to see a much smaller Raphael sending an irritated glare your way. That’s odd, your Raph would have probably asked if you needed any help.
Then, it clicked.
“HE SENT ME TO ANOTHER UNIVERSE?!”
You now appeared to be absolutely insane, and that’s coming from a bunch of mutant turtles. You mutter to yourself about “kicking Donnie's ass” and “this wasn’t the plan!”. Raphael and Leo take a fighting stance, but before they try anything, the new Donnie tries to calm you down and understand what’s going on. You’re still panicking but you try your best to explain how you’re from a different universe and that you got transported here. “-Then Leo from my universe accidentally pushed me into Don’s newest invention- this wasn’t supposed to happen! I was just trying to help out-” You cut yourself off, remembering something. You quickly pull up your left sleeve to see the wristwatch ‘your’ Donatello made for you. You swiftly begin to type on it, trying anything you can to send any messages back to him, your location, anything at all, but nothing works.
The purple masked turtle noticed how advanced your watch is, seeing how a hologram, as well as some sort of keyboard, popped up. He’s never seen anything quite like it.
“Hey, um, do you happen to know what year you're from? We don’t have access to that kind of technology - yet that is.”
Raph and Leo put away their weapons after noticing how calm Donatello was with you, still keeping their guard up. “Oh, yes! The year I was in was 2018. My Donnie made me this trinket for my birthday. It’s pretty useful-” you attempt to send another message, failing once again, “-when it works, of course.”
“So what now? Do we let them hang out with us? I think they seem pretty cool!” Michelangelo butts in, tired of having to act like such an innocent-looking person is a threat.
“Mikey, you idiot, we don’t even know them! How could we possibly-”
“I think we should let them stay with us for the time being, if they have no one else to stay with.” Donatello turns his head to you, “It seems you were quite close with your version of us, right?”
“Yeah! I hung out with them at the lair all the time. Spent most of my time challenging them to super-smash bros or assisting Don in whatever project he was working on.” You were almost excited to give your answer, very much enjoying the time you used to spent with the boys. Then the fear sunk in once again. “He’s probably trying to bring me back, right? I won’t be stuck here forever?” You too a deep breath in. “I already miss them, even if they were loud.”
The turtles from this universe noticed how worried you appeared, being away from your closest friends, and all ultimately deciding to bring you to see master Splinter. On the way, Mikey wouldn’t stop nagging you with all sorts of questions; name, hobbies, favorite food, if you like pizza, anything he could come up with. You answered every one of them enthusiastically, throwing a fond memory in the mix every once in a while.
“So, dude, you said earlier that we look different than your guys, right? What do they look like?”
“Well, Raph and Donnie are taller- oh!” Mikey tilted his head your way at your exclamation, watching you pat yourself down.
“Still got it! I’ve got some pictures of them on my phone!” You didn’t have any connection, but you still had the pictures saved in your gallery. You pulled up one with everyone there. It was a little blurry, but you could still easily make out yourself in the bottom left corner of the photo. Raph was trailing behind Mikey, who was on his flying skateboard in the background. A little closer was Donnie tinkering with some scrap parts with a smirk on his face, and finally, Leo sitting on the back of the couch casually cheering Mikey on.
You began to swipe through pictures of you and the boys individually. Raph training with you - Mikey must have snatched that picture, you thought. A selfie of yourself and Leo, who was covering his face, in front of the scoreboard after challenging him at Mario Kart and winning. Mikey who fell asleep on you, pencil in hand and sketchbook in his lap after one of your regular drawing sessions. Finally, a blurry selfie of you surprise-hugging Donatello from behind, in his lab. You could clearly see his surprised expression along with a smile, a big toothy grin covering your face.
You gave a short backstory on all of them while showing them, proving that you really were close friends.
Eventually, you met up with Splinter, politely asking questions and answering some. You were much calmer and more respectful than the turtles were expecting, given how excitable and easy-going you seemed. Finally, you left his meditation room, telling the turtles what you assumed would be your plan. “I figure that my Donnie’s probably trying his best to open another portal, but we have no way of communication. He also felt that you might bring some joy, changing up their routine a bit. Same old same old isn’t always the best. Raph was the last, begrudgingly agreeing, but only because you didn’t seem like “too much of a bother.” He earned himself a whack on the back of his head for that.
Donnie decided to pull you away from the others, saying that you probably have some experience with cool tech and could help him out with some of his inventions. You walked over to Donatello’s lab, still admired by the inventions he had even if they weren’t built with all the new tech you had. No matter what Donnie makes, it’s always pretty cool. The Snatcher.
chapter one. ➼ [next.]
Tumblr media
rise of the tmnt x gn!reader [PLATONIC], rise!leo x gn!reader
summary: someone keeps stealing everyone’s things. nothing they’ve stolen has any correlation, and it’s anyone’s guess why they’re doing it. as time goes on, the list of crimes grows longer. reader just hopes no one realizes it’s them.
a box of parts has gone missing from donatello’s lab, and needless to say, he’s furious about it. just one heist in, and it’s already quickly turning into everyone’s problem.
word count: 2,868
a/n: guess who’s back with his first multi-chapter fic y’all
i’m gonna have another post regarding my return from hiatus with more details on that and my writing plans around the same time i post this, so please do check that out if you care about this blog!
in regards to the fic: i like to call this one “in which the reader is full-on just kind of an asshole and steals everyone’s stuff for no reason”. so, if you just so happen to be a little shit, congrats! this one’s for you. reader is in a relationship with leo in this, but that’s not really the focus, and it isn’t really even explicitly mentioned in this chapter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All was still.
It was well past dark in New York City. Of course, that didn’t mean much - it’s called the city that never sleeps for a reason. Above ground, traffic still raced on, people still yelled in the streets, the hubbub didn’t quit. But in some apartments, families closed their curtains, tucked their children into bed, and tried to ignore the clamor outside their windows.
Below ground was a slightly different story, however. Sounds were muffled by concrete, leaving the rush of cars and footsteps inaudible. Occasionally, you would hear the telltale rattle of the subway, but it was easy enough to ignore once you got used to it. Normally, in this strange home beneath the city, there would still be some sort of noise at this hour, but the Hamato family had retired a bit earlier than usual tonight. Splinter had even remembered to turn off the projector, which was rare enough to be notable. As far as the family was concerned, everyone was tucked into bed and sleeping soundly. Not a creature was stirring.
Except for one.
In contrast to the rest of the lair, the laboratory wasn’t totally quiet, nor was it totally dark. The machines which occupied the room produced soft whirring noises at all times, and had plenty of blinking lights to keep the room just barely illuminated. Most of it was a very dim light, but at the main desk with the most clutter, there was one brighter source. The computer was open to some Wikipedia page, and the light it produced fell softly on the face of a sleeping softshell turtle.
Normally, he would still be awake, working away on his various inventions. But this evening, he’d crashed far earlier than normal. Definitely unusual, but no one would be particularly surprised to hear about it. After all, he had gone without sleep for what? Three days now? It was only logical he would drop at some point, whether it be by his own will or nature taking over. He needed this sleep, everyone (except perhaps himself) would agree. It was a tad unfortunate, however, that he crashed when and where he did. For one thing, the desk littered with empty coffee cups and stray materials couldn’t be a very comfortable pillow, and far more importantly, he hadn’t had time to close anything down for the night. Some things were left running, and their batteries would likely be drained by morning. That was the least of his concerns, however. What he should, and likely would if he was conscious, be worried about was that nothing was locked. The door to the lab, the cabinets of valuable tools, nothing. His precious projects were left completely and utterly vulnerable, as he would find out when the morning came.
It was Friday evening, April 16th. The small clock in the bottom right corner of the computer read 11:24 PM.
That was when the Snatcher struck for the first time.
•°. *࿐
“I suppose you’re all wondering why I called you here today.”
It was Saturday morning, 8:42 AM. It wasn’t unusual for you to meet on a weekend, but it was a bit strange that it was so early in the morning. Saturdays are for sleeping in, after all, but that hadn’t been an option this morning, thanks to Donatello. You’d been woken up bright and early at 7:00 AM by your phone blowing up with notifications, demanding that you get to the lair as soon as possible because Donnie had a “code red emergency that he needs everyone to meet for ASAP”. A quick check with Leonardo, however, revealed that there wasn’t, in fact, a code red (something on fire, someone bleeding, or an alien invasion). According to him, Donnie had woken everyone up banging pots and pans at an absolutely ungodly hour, and was very passive aggressive all throughout breakfast. All of that, and he was refusing to explain why until everyone was present.
So, here you were, sitting in the main room of the lair at this mildly ridiculous hour of the morning with everyone. And when you said everyone, you meant everyone. Yourself, April, and the guys were the usual given, as well as Casey Jr. since he showed up. Cassandra was sitting over on the far right next to Sunita, and even Splinter had been dragged to this meeting, though he appeared to already be drifting off. Upon arrival, you had been informed that Draxum was also invited, but had refused. You supposed Donnie didn’t have the authority to argue there.
“Will you get to the point already?” Leo groaned next to you. “It’s been hours.” Raphael and Michelangelo looked equally annoyed and tired, and you couldn’t blame them, what with the stories you’d heard earlier. You considered regretting taking extra time for breakfast and prolonging their suffering, but you couldn’t really bring yourself to. It was some damn good breakfast, and they ought to be used to this stuff by now.
Standing in front of you all, Donnie sighed. “All right, all right, you guys have no respect for a good monologue.” He grabbed hold of the whiteboard he had rolled out of the lab earlier and dramatically spun it around. You squinted, trying to interpret the scribbles made in dry erase marker, but quickly gave up. He would undoubtedly explain it all to you regardless.
“Last night, sometime between 10:30 PM and 4:00 AM, someone broke into my lab!”
Everyone stared at him blankly.
“Donnie,” April said, “I was just in there. Nothing looked very broken into.”
“Yes, nothing LOOKED amiss, my dear April, but one very crucial detail!” He pointed towards one corner of his whiteboard, at what you now recognized as a diagram of the lab. He circled a drawing of what appeared to be a box he had very subtly labeled “GPS PARTS”. “This box” -he gestured again for extra emphasis- “contained–”
“Let me guess, GPS parts?”
“LET ME SPEAK!” Donnie took a deep breath and returned to his drawing. “Yes, it contained GPS parts, very important GPS parts I just bought to use on my brand new upgrades to the navigational system in the Turtle Tank, more specifically the parts needed for the antenna, but I know you all start yelling when I go on science tangents, so for your sakes, I won’t elaborate.”
“Thanks, it’s much appreciated.”
Donnie made an expression you quickly recognized as the “trying to blow Leo up with his mind” face.
“And what happened to the parts, Donnie?” April asked.
“Why, thank you for asking. Well, this morning when I awoke…” Donnie took an eraser, held it up, and suddenly began erasing the box far more violently than he really needed to. “IT WAS GONE!”
Donnie’s yell woke Splinter up with a start. “Wh-” Sunita leaned over and whispered a quick summary of the situation. “Oh, that is what you are so mad about? You lost your, uh, things?”
“They weren’t lost, Father, they were clearly stolen!” Donnie was becoming more frantic by the moment. “I checked and double checked their exact position several times last night, to be perfectly sure I wouldn’t loose them! And yet, this morning, they were gone! And they had to have been stolen by SOMEONE IN THIS ROOM! Or Draxum.”
He waved an accusatory finger at… well, everyone. “Everyone present in this room was present last night for our Jupiter Jim: Atomic Lass Dies Again 2 viewing, as you all know!”
This was a fact. Yesterday, everyone in your circle had been invited (or dragged, in Draxum’s case) to watch the new JJ movie the second it came out on DVD. It had been fun, but you doubted anyone there expected to be a suspect by the next morning. Well, except for the perpetrator, you supposed.
“Are you sure, Dee?” Casey Jr. actually looked pretty concerned. He always seemed to take these things a bit more seriously, probably because he wasn’t as used to it. “I mean, you really think someone in this room would steal from you?”
“Oh, you sweet summer child, multiple people in this room have stolen from me. In fact, most people in this room have stolen from me. Some more than others.” He gave a pointed glare in Leo and Cassandra’s directions.
“Do you have any proof?” Cassandra glared right back.
“Yes, Cassandra!” Donnie once more slapped the diagram. “The fact that it’s gone! The fact that there is an outline in the shape of a box entirely free of dust! The fact that whichever one of you who did it (probably Leo) is an–”
“Whoa, whoa, are you accusing me? Your own twin brother?” Leo put a hand on his chest, commencing with his usual theatrics. “Dude, I thought we had a bond!”
“Leonardo, this would be far from the first time you’ve stolen my stuff!” Donnie pointed at him in response. “My tools! My clothing! Anything in my lab you thought looked cool! Even Penelope Platypus!”
“Penelope Platypus?”
“Don’t ask. Never ask about Penelope Platypus,” Raph whispered.
“Understood.”
“Okay, okay-” April stood up from her spot and walked over to Donnie. “Everyone, let’s just-”
“I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU FOR PENELOPE PLATYPUS-”
“Donnie, let’s just calm down!” April grabbed Donnie’s arm and lowered it. “Do you not have any security cam footage?”
“No, April, I do not, because as I conveniently told you all yesterday, all my security measures are under maintenance!”
“Fingerprints?”
“Already checked. Whoever it was, they knew exactly what they were looking for and didn’t touch anything else. Believe me, I have been looking since 4. A. M.”
“Okay, what’s all the rest of this on your board?”
Donnie cleared his throat, but not before sending one last nasty glance his brother’s way. “Well, here I have a list of any possible motivation our thief could’ve had. Leonardo, mischief, Cassandra, mischief, Draxum, turning back into an evil supervillain stuff, Mikey, an insane level of dumb luck and obliviousness-”
“Okaaay.” April cut him off before he could go down the whole list, but you could just make out your own name below Mikey’s. Anything else written on the board, however, was pretty much lost to time thanks to Donnie’s illegible handwriting.
April picked up a dry erase marker from the bottom of the board, and began making amendments to Donnie’s notes. “Well, we know it couldn’t have been me or Sunita, since we left while you were still awake.” She crossed out both names. “Mikey also went to bed pretty early, but I guess he could’ve gotten up and come back downstairs.” She placed a question mark next to Mikey’s name. “If our thief did know what they were looking for, then who did you tell about these parts?”
“Well, I told you, of course.” April began making checkmarks as Donnie listed names. “I also told Casey Jr. when I was teaching him how refrigerators work.”
You decided not to ask.
“I mentioned it to Father, but I doubt he was listening, since he clearly doesn’t often.” He paused as he stared at Splinter, who took a full seven and a half seconds to space back into reality and notice.
“Oh, are we done? Wonderful, I’m missing the latest episode of-”
“No, Father, we are not done!”
“Also, we don’t get cable,” Raph pointed out.
“Alright, and that’s everyone?”
“I believe so, yes.”
“Alright. So we’ve got ten total suspects, two with a solid alibi, three with inside knowledge, and…” April muttered to herself as she read over Donnie’s guessed motivations. How she managed to read those, you had no clue. “... two with a reasonable motive. Not a lot to go off of.”
“Well then, on to my planned second step; I will now be questioning each of you in order from oldest to youngest.” Uh oh. “Father?”
“Uh- yes, Purple?”
“WHERE WERE YOU THE NIGHT OF APRIL 16TH?”
“... I believe I was here. I also believe that was yesterday.”
You exchanged a look with Leo. This was going nowhere - Donnie was just going to yell a lot, and eventually Cassandra was going to start yelling back, and then everyone would be yelling, and it would just be really loud. You pulled out your phone as discreetly as you could, and began typing.
was it you?
be honest i swear i won’t tell anyone
no!!! i went straight to sleep after you left
i didn’t go anywhere near the lab
i assume you wouldn’t be asking if it was you
well duh
should we tell him raph slipped sleeping meds in his coffee
no, that’ll just make it worse
raph wouldn’t do it anyways, he’s too nice
point taken
so what are we supposed to do
watch it play out?
you read my mind
You looked up from your phone, back at Donnie, who had moved on from Splinter to Cassandra. This would be fun.
“WHY THE HELL WOULD I TAKE IT? I WOULDN’T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT!”
“YOU HAVE ONE OF THE TOP MOTIVES, CASSANDRA!”
“AND WHAT KIND OF MOTIVE IS THAT?!”
“TO SPITE ME!”
“TO SPITE– oh. Yeah, that makes sense.”
“SO YOU ADMIT IT!”
“I ADMIT TO NOTHING!”
“Oh my god, they’re going to kill each other.” You sincerely doubted you would see anything as entertaining as this for the rest of the week. It was pettiness at its finest, and you’d acquired quite a number of insults from watching fights this way. You knew it was only a matter of time until someone (Cassandra) threw the first punch, and then it was only a matter of time until someone (Donnie) threw the first explosive. But alas, it would be over too soon for that.
“April, you get Donnie.” Raph sighed as he stood up, and scooped Cassandra up remarkably easy. At the same time, April grabbed Donnie, preventing him from trying to hit Casey Sr.
“Look, Donnie, I can understand why you’re upset, but fighting isn’t really the best way to fix this.”
“But it is a way.”
“Maybe, but–”
“Don, I’ll help you find your parts.” April cut Raph off. She sounded pretty exasperated at this point. “Just stop screaming before everyone’s eardrums explode.”
“I was not screaming-”
“Yes you were. Now come on, I wanna see the crime scene for myself.” April began dragging Donnie off to his lab. Casey stuck her tongue out at him, and you just caught him flipping her off before disappearing into the lab.
Raph set Cassandra back down, and she muttered something that sounded a lot like a very targeted insult.
“Well, that was certainly… something,” Sunita commented.
“Something, indeed.” Mikey nodded.
“Okay.” Raph turned back to the group. “You know I trust all of you…”
“But you’re gonna accuse one of us of stealing some dumb science crap?” Cassandra raised an eyebrow.
“No! No.” Raph smiled sheepishly. “But, if it was any of you… Just, please give it back. He will not let this go, and I don’t know if our sanities will survive it.”
“Hey, hey, April’s on the case now!” Mikey chimed in. “I’m sure she’ll solve it in no time! She’ll catch our… our Snatcher!”
“Our what now?”
“The Snatcher! It’s what I just decided to title our resident thief.”
“We’re naming the thief?”
“Now, now, Casey Jr., every thief needs a good name.” Mikey patted Casey on the shoulder a couple of times, looking very proud of himself.
While everyone else was talking over the new name and what could’ve happened to Donnie’s stuff, you walked over to the whiteboard. You weren’t really interested in the lab diagram; you also weren’t sure what part of this required an entire corner of the board being dedicated to math equations.
You squinted at Donnie’s scrawled handwriting, trying to make out the notes at the bottom of the board. On the motives list, you found your name, which was just barely readable. It took you a few seconds to translate what was written next to it.
Scheming.
That didn’t sound too different from Leo and Cassandra’s “mischief”, but hey, it sounded better, so you weren’t going to complain. You’d have to ask Donnie what he meant by the difference next time you saw him.
You grabbed the marker and wrote down several notes regarding what had occurred last night. You had stayed in Leo’s room for a while before you left, so you could provide alibis for each other in that time frame. You hadn’t seen Cassandra on your way out, nor had you seen anyone else up. You wrote down the rough time you left, as could be verified by Leo, and wrote down that you had seen a light from under Mikey’s door.
Finally, you wrote “The Snatcher Case” at the top of the board, followed by “(y/n) was here :)” in the bottom corner.
You smiled to yourself before going to grab your things and get ready to leave. You were eager to watch this play out.
You couldn’t wait until you enacted phase two of your plan.
It was 9:57 AM, Saturday, April 17th. The Snatcher waltzed right out of the lair, and no one suspected a thing.
Hi would it be alright if I ask what wips are you working on ?
just wanna make sure I don’t in a request that someone else already sent in XD
hope your doing ok :)
Thank you for your concern! My carpal tunnel has been approving somewhat these last few weeks! Hopefully I'll be able to find some free time this weekend while I'm off to knock down some of this list.
Also if you do happen to send in an idea similar to someone else's; don't worry too much about it because I don't mind, I like the challenge~ Duplicates give me the opportunity to try out different ideas that I may have for a single plot/theme.
Btw sorry about not really posting anything these last few weeks... I kinda forgot to pay my wifi bill so I didn't really have internet for awhile until I got paid again... Anyways—
Here we are!
P.S. I might add more later on.
Summary: The boys always knew that they had to rely on each other but what happens when someone they never knew they had is found, and just like them?
“I don’t understand, why can’t we get into Sacks building at night?” Mikey asks looking around at his three brothers. “I mean I can try to hack into his security systems and block it and get in there and grab the Mutagen and leave” a smile is thrown from Mikey to Donnie.
“So we get in and get out.” Raphael shakes his head turning around and grabbing his Twin Sai’s and walks out of the lair towards the exit, with the boys following behind him.
-
“Stop talking so loudly Mikey, you idiot they’ll hear you” Mikey turns around looking at Leo with a Sheepish smile before dropping down into the lab. Looking around the huge lab they notice that there’s a lot more than just one Mutagen. One that would require a living being to create that much.
Donnie looks at them with a confused look before looking around for anything that can clear it up. Opening another door, he looks around freezing on a container. Meanwhile Raph trying to talk to Donnie but getting no response making him go over to him. “Can’t you hear m-“ he pauses looking at what Donnie sees. Without looking away Raph goes into the other room more not taking his eyes off Container. “Leo…Mikey get in here you need to see this.” Raph says before mumbling asking the unconscious mutant turtle in the container. He notices that it’s a woman and she looks older than them.
“Holy shit. We have to get her out of here.” Leo doesn’t waste a second before figuring out how to get her out of there. “Come on help me you idiots”
Snapping out of it the other three run over to help Leo figure out how to get the mutant out. Before their only focus was the mutagen but now they needed to know who this turtle is and where she came from. “Are you sure she’ll be okay?” Mikey grunts as he climbs back up to where they dropped down. Grabbing the woman he pulls her up first while Donnie runs around grabbing as much Mutagen as possible.
Getting to the Lair took a lot longer than usual considering Raphael is carrying the mutant. After setting her down on the couch, they all stand there looking at her confused. “Run some tests” Leo mumbles to Donnie before walking off trying to process it.
-
Waking up on something soft throws you off, quickly sitting up not being the best idea feeling a pounding sensation in your head. Looking around you notice a camera system but no one in the room. The mumbling of voices makes you stand up walking towards it slowly. Leaning against the door you hear muffled voices. “We don’t know who she is!” “We can’t just kick her out!” “She’s like us!” The voices say talking over each other. Opening the door I see four men. The voices stop,turning to look at me, eyes wide. I look at the one with the blue mask. “leonardo?..” I turn “Raphael?” Tearing up ii look at the last two. “donatello…? michelangelo? Oh my god” I go to take a step towards them but stop when they take a step back getting defensive.
“How do you know our names?” Leo steps forward glaring down at you. “I’m sorry you guys don’t remember me..um I was also an experiment when you boys were just little babies, When Dr. O’Neil burned down the building I was in a separate room from you boys and Splinter. They didn’t want us to have any type of connection. Little April she didn’t have time to save me, and Sacks got to me before she could. He’s been using me for years,but enough about me you boys are all grown up.” I smile slightly wanting to go over to them.
“That still doesn’t explain why he kept you from us, why would we have a connection?” Raph stays still not fully trusting you enough to let his guard down.
Sighing I step slightly closer to him before slowly raising my hand smaller hand that matches theirs to Raph’s face. “Because you boys are my sons..” I smile at them. “I’ve been hoping one day I would see you guys again.” I hear multiple sharp intakes of air around me. Glancing around I motion the other three to come closer. Holding their hands.
“But…we where told that you where dead” Mikey tears up laying his head on your shoulder. I tilt my head laying it on top of his before looking up slightly at the other three pulling them closer. Donnie on my other shoulder and the other two leaning their foreheads against mine.
“I’m here now…that’s all that matters. Not going anywhere.” Even in the tired, weak,and underweight state your body is in doesn’t stop you from holding your boys close.
“Now where’s Splinter? I need to thank him for raising wondering sons.”
At the end of the day you would go through all this again just to get to this point again no matter what. The boys have their mother and their mother has them.
Since we got the Bayverse turtles with a sibling reader , Could we possibly get the 2012 bros x Platonic! fem child Sibling reader? Perhaps the reader is a recently mutated Turtle that the turtles come across and adopt as their sibling?
EEEE YES!! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!
(P.s. (R/N) means random name!)
Tumblr media
2012 BOYS WITH A MUTATED CHILD SIBLING READER
First is backstory! Headcanons are at the bottom!
....................................
The boys were on an intel mission. A new kraang base had made its way onto their raydar, and they needed to find out what they were up to.
The last thing they expected to find was a little mutated turtle. You were so small, it hurt them to think about how you got here.
"She's just like us guys!"
"Mikey, quiet down, you're scaring her." Leo scolded him.
The blue clad leader crouched down to your level, reaching out a comforting hand and speaking in the gentlest tone he could, "Hey there, we're gonna get you out of here ok?"
You sniffled, reaching out to take his hand with your tiny one. He picked you up as carefully as possible, doing his best to sooth away your tears.
"I can check her over for injuries when we get back." Donnie said, checking to make sure the coast was clear. He nodded to the others, and the four made their way home, with you falling asleep halfway.
They entered their home, and Donnie gently took you from Leo. The action woke you up, and you started to cry, not wanting to be taken away from Leo.
Donnie quickly passed you back to his brother, and the two went to the lab so Donnie could check you for any injuries.
Raph and Mikey went to get Splinter and alert him of the new arrival. They rejoined their brothers in the Lab, their father in tow.
Master Splinter spotted you and felt a wave of nostalgia hit him. You looked just like the boys when they were tots, he approached you, and you shyed away into Leo.
"Hello there, what is your name?"
You spoke quietly, your voice was soft and timid, "Subject 05."
Splinter glanced at his sons, and they all shrugged, Raph spoke up, "We found 'er at that kraang base. Guess that's what they called 'er."
Splinter looked back at you, a gentle smiling playing in his lips, "Well if you're going be staying here, you'll need a proper name."
You looked up at him with wide eyes, "I can... stay?"
He nodded, "You can. Now how about we find you a name, hm?"
You nodded eagerly, and the boys began to toss around ideas,
"How about (R/N)?" Donnie suggested,
Raph shook his head, "Nah, let's call 'er (R/N)."
You stuck out your tounge and shook your head, and Leo looked down at you, "You don't like that one?" you shook your head again, and he hummed, "Well how about, (R/N)?"
You shook your head once again, muttering, "Uh uh."
Mikey raised his arm up high, "I got it! Let's call her (Name)!"
You thought for a second, then nodded, "I like (Name)!"
Splinter chuckled, "Well then, (Name), let's get you settled in. Welcome home."
....................................
These boys' adore you.
Thats to be expected though,
You are the baby of the family, and they definitly treat you like it.
You were a bit clumsy the first few weeks of you being there,
So Leo made you walk around wearing knee pads, elbow pads, and a helmet untill you grew out of your two left feet.
When April and Casey met you,
April was instantly slain by how adorable you were, (Casey too, but c'mon, he ain't gonna admit that.)
Casey has experience with taking care of young kids, since he has a little sister, so he babysits you often.
You even have playdates with his sister,
Ya'll are besties!
Everyone tries not to say the k-word around you, (Kraang), since it's kinda a trigger for you.
They learned that quickly and adapted to avoiding the topic around you.
One of your favorite activities is having a tea party with your dad.
When the boys are out doing their ninja things, you always have tea time with Splinter.
He starts training you as soon as you're willing,
He makes sure to pace it so as not to overwhelm you, but you are really enthusiastic about your training.
You just wanna be an awsome ninja like your brothers.
If you ever can't sleep, you'll spend some time in Donnie's lab,
He's usually up really late, so you'll keep him company while he works,
You even have your beanbag chair next to his desk.
Raph takes you with him when he and Casey go tag buildings,
You get your own little corner to paint and everything.
It always makes you happy.
Mikey likes to read to you,
It's a nightly ritual that he tells you a bedtime story, and you can't sleep without one.
Sometimes they're actual stort books,
Other times he tells you all about some of their past adventures.
Some of them water downed of course, you are stull pretty young.
Leo loves to watch cartoons with you,
All kinds.
You guys have daily Space Heros marathons.
Even when you grow up.
You'll never say no to Leo when he asks if you want to watch Soace Heros.
April helps Donnie homeschool you.
You don't really like lessons, you think it's boring, but you sit through them without complaining because of how excited Donnie is to teach you stuff.
April is really just there to help you understand certain things while also making sure Donnie doesn't go overboard and try to teach you something like honors chemistry.
Obviously they have a lot of enemies,
So they do their best to keep you a secret from them.
Obviously the kraang will want their test subject back,
And there is no way in hell this family is letting that happen.
If anything ever happened the entire Hamato clan would burn down heaven and hell to get you back.
And that is not a threat.
It's a promise.
.........................................
All done! @gal-with-pastels I hope you enjoyed my friend!
Yandere 07 Donatello x Platonic Reader hcs.
I'm going to do one for all of the 07 bois because they deserve love.
Tumblr media
On god, I swear to you, all Donatello[s] fall fast in their obsession. Even if its not a human, even if its a fandom or something of the sort. '18,'14,'03, '07, I don't care, they fall fast.
You were so nice to him and he wanted to know more about this nice human who treats people well. He had a heart attack when he found out you were a kid, like, you're a kid, and interacting with people online? Oh no no nononono. You are NOT going to be back online without Donnie finding out.
Donnie monitors your online presence and hacks into things so you stay where he thinks you should. He makes all of your Youtube [or the tmnt equivalent] to be ultra kid friendly material and puts a lot of lego cooking food ASMRs on there for some reason??Got any music apps? He blocks any artists who make explicit music [by his taste]. He monitors all that you, and tries to find out all that he can about you, by using your socials. He is proud that haven't posted anything to private, but since you are a kid, ignorant to the world, he does find out some personal information.
You automatically call the nice person who helped you through fixing your broken appliance whenever there is a problem, so then Donatello hacks into your devices and makes it seem like your appliance is broken so that you have to ask him for help. It makes him feel nice inside to be wanted.
Once Leonardo comes back and forces the turtles to go and patrol New York, Donatello finally sees you for the first time, and he wants to protect you, you look so innocent, so full of life, and he wants to make sure that nothing can happen to that innocence.
Upon seeing you and recognizing you because of your voice, he wants to kidnap you, sorry, take you home, right then and there, but he recognizes that he can't because of the others.
But when he can, ohohohoho, you will be in the sewers in less than 12 hours. He has badly prepared to have you 'home' and had to call Mikey in order to make it livable for you. which leads me to the fact that yes, Mikey did help him, but also 'ratted him out to the rat': "Hey, Sensei, can I bring a human home? Since Donnie got to?" "He did what.?"
Splinter bursts in because,, human. And puts you back on the surface after apologizing to you when he sees that you don't want to be here.
Donnie gets upset, and takes you back, putting you in a different part of the sewers where he watches you during his job, and when he's not busy, visits you.
"Hey... I um. Don't know if I count as a dad, but I want to protect you. Is that weird? anyway, do you recognize me? it's me! Donnie!" "...Why are you so scared?"
“Mikey.”
“Okay, so we knocked a ton of likely places out: The apartment. All the roads to it. That dumpling house they always order from. The outdoor coffee shop with the cute little plaza-“
“Mikey!”
“Where else? Where else?! We don’t have time!” Mikey launched himself toward the next building.
“We literally only have time!” Leo chased him. “You’re stuck with me. Meaning, I’m going to talk and you’re going to listen!”
“Leo! Later! Literally any other time! I’m all ears or whatever Donnie always says we have, but not right now!”
“You weren’t ever going to tell Y/N?”
Mikey tripped over a ledge and somersaulted straight into an air conditioning unit.
Leo’s face appeared, nonplussed by the accident, and peered in through the opening of Mikey’s shell as an omnipresent knowing eye. “Ever?”
Mikey wished he could say no one was home, but he knew the moonlight would give away his gaze. “Leo, we-!“
“The others are all looking too. Take 10, chef.”
Coming up from his favorite nickname, Mikey pouted.
“Talk to me, hermano”
“It’s-!” Mikey opened his mouth to whine, but nothing came out. Hopeless, he sank back into his body, but his chin caught on the top edge of his plastron to keep from a full retreat. “There’s something wrong with me, Lee.”
Leo took a seat. “How’s that?”
“It’s like…” Guilt not only threatened to swallow him whole, but it also took his words.
This was supposed to be his.
He was going to keep these feelings locked away until he had time to deal with them.
It was different, he told himself.
Different than when his brothers tried to forget or compartmentalize.
Mikey knew something was wrong.
He acknowledged it near daily since meeting you.
He also knew that sometimes someone needed the proper tools to deal with emotions.
He needed information and he meant to look it up.
He was planning to do so.
He had forgotten.
He felt like a child.
How many times had he made the distinction that he wasn’t the same as his brothers?
He wasn’t a color to be mixed up.
Feeling small, Mikey was struck with a memory of how Splinter had taught him how to give a formal apology.
Placing his hands to the roof, he assumed a dogeza in hopes the appeal would reach his conscience. “How I feel… doesn’t feel like how you talk about your crushes. Or how Donnie does. Or Raph… Or Dad.. Or Barry! O-or anyone! It’s wrong. I’m wrong. I’m scared, Leo. That’s why I wasn’t going to bring it up! I don’t… It wasn’t supposed to go away! What if Y/N hates me? What will I do then?! What if I never see Y/N again!?”
“Hey, hey…! Woah there, bud…” Leo put his hand on Mikey’s carapace and rubbed; it was a circle Mikey had known since they were tots. “Slow down. How about we tackle one thing at a time? Think you can describe those feelings? Maybe let somebody else be the judge if they’re wrong or not?”
Mikey stared into the pebbled surface of the roof. “I… feel… nothing…? But I know I should. Like Y/N smiles and I feel like I should get this big warmth in my chest. It’s the kind of feeling that you get when there’s fireworks or a flower blooming or… metaphors! But… the feeling comes and I know I like it. It makes me feel good. To see Y/N happy. Oh man, Leo, you should have seen Y/N the first time I did. Y/N was… so scared… And-and I had this urge, like this, this was meant to be. I felt that! I felt that ‘at first sight’ feeling! Like, I can do this! This person needs me and I can be their person and I was! At least, I thought… I was. I eased in! I didn’t push because like, yeah, who am I to decide that? I always gave Y/N an out! Always! But then… that was it! Like I love you guys and I know that in my heart, but this is different, and then I look at Y/N and I feel… not that, a different thing, but it’s not not that. It’s like a step below how I feel for you guys and that’s not right because I know I feel more, or I think I feel more or…? I want… to… feel… more…?” In a warm drip, he felt the safe, non-threatening sort of tears dribble down his cheeks.
He rubbed a few of them away before checking on Leo.
His brother had open concern twisted on his features.
Mikey agreed.
This was a mess.
Now he’d forced his brother into the mix.
His whole family was sure to come next.
How many people were going to be struck by the fall out?
Donnie had a point.
Mikey never fully considered the repercussions of his actions.
He never did.
Wracked with more sobs, Mikey willed for what felt like the thousandth time that this confusion would end.
“Ah! Don’t do that!” Leo rushed to scoop up Mikey’s shell and hold his little brother close. “Shit, Mike, that wasn’t me thinking you were wrong! You’re not broken. You’re not wrong. I’m sorry. That look was for me. I was upset I never noticed. I should have realized something was up. I saw you wigging out about your new sweetheart, but I figured you were excited. I was thinking, ‘boy, look at him, finally got his crush on. You go little bro!’ when I should have seen how you were forcing yourself. I should have…”
Mikey shook his head so violently it smacked Leo’s chin a few times.
The slider leaned away, but kept his hold.
“What’s wrong with me?”
“Nothing.” Leo returned to stare Mikey down.
“Then why… isn’t my heart working!?”
“Okay, first off.” Leo jammed a finger into Mikey’s pectoral scutes. “It is. You’re literally made of turtles, love, and sunshine. Your ticker is ticking a way in there. I’m no expert, but I don’t think this is a working, not working kinda thing, Mike.”
“How is that possible? There’s only the two options.” A few fat plump tears dripped down Mikey’s face and onto Leo’s shirt.
Leo made a face before digging into his side pouch and producing tissues. “We’ll figure this out. I think April would be a good person to start with, but first-“
“Y/N!” Mikey screeched, scrambled off of Leo, and headed to the roof’s edge where he looked out like a skipper on a boat. “Stupid, stupid! Why do I always forget?!”
Leo sighed. “Quit it with that degradation talk. A certain Dr. Feelings gets pretty pissy when I do it.”
“That’s different.” It really was.
“Yeah, right!” Leo walked over and gently tapped his brother on the back of the head. “I’m here, you know that, right?”
“I know, Leo.” Mikey sent his brother an honest look.
Leo took it with a lopsided smile. “So… that pretty plaza was totally the next thing on the list, eh?”
“No!! We were just there, the next is-!” Mikey growled, knowing full well that Leo had goaded him on purpose.
-
“Y/N is alright. They’ve been deposited at their apartment.” Donnie’s voice crackled on the communicator.
“I’m going.” Mikey changed direction with a pivot of his foot.
“Uh, you sure?” Leo readied, clearly prepared for either a chase or interception.
“They’re tired Mikey. Let Y/N sleep it off and you two can have your talk on a date of both your choosing.” Donnie’s voice warbled with static.
“And why is it-!?” Mikey roared, spinning around and hating there wasn’t a specific place he could send his anger. “-that you know that?! Why were you with Y/N!? Why did you go to Y/N’s apartment?! What did you do?! Your tests!??!”
Leo loosely grabbed Mikey’s shoulders for a firm grip of solidarity. “Donnie, I can only hold him back so long. You gotta answer at least one of those. Mike’s earned it and you said, point blank, you were going to your lab. So, how is it that you ended up going to where they live? What’s the real haps?”
Donnie sighed. “I’m en route. Can you wait a few more moments?”
“How long?” Mikey was itching to get out of there.
He could see you.
He could fix this.
Tears brought clarity.
It was science Donnie had taught him.
“Now.” Voice cross fading into existence, Donnie flew in and walked into his landing.
He was too casual.
Mikey went through old training, focusing on each of his muscle groups in an attempt to keep from attacking.
Lashing out wasn’t reasonable.
Not yet.
Running into battle with pizzazz and no forethought was the stuff of teenagers.
“I know how this looks.” Donnie raised his hands. “I did lie. I went after Y/N while you all were trying to calm Mikey down.”
Leo threw his hands up both to release Mikey and to do a frustrated lap.
Years had taught the youngest of another route.
Now freed, Mikey let betrayal leak onto his face.
A low blow, he watched it strike Donnie.
The guilt displayed there was the only reason Mikey didn’t pounce. “What did you do?”
Wilting, Donnie lowered his hands along with his head. “I didn’t go after Y/N for… what I imagine you think is the usual reason is. I needed a clarification on something said. I didn’t pursue in peace; I tracked Y/N down for knowledge.”
Taking the information in with waves of warped features, Mikey gave an exhale with what felt like the last of his breath. “Where did you find Y/N?”
“The exit by 19th.”
Indignity flared without mysticism this time.
Mikey had burned up enough energy for one day.
The slight was still palpable.
It tried to trigger a response from his taxed powers.
On reserves, nothing manifested besides the usual toxic emotions.
That was your exit.
That was the first place he looked.
The one this person who supposedly hated you found you first.
Right there.
That meant you were right there.
Right where he’d stormed past thinking of all other places you could go.
Mikey missed it.
He’d missed you.
“I…”
Through the silence, Mikey heard the guilt pile on through Donnie’s hesitation.
It was enough to make him think he’d spare a little mystic fire.
As a treat.
Mikey could almost hear Donnie’s teeth whine around his grimace “You didn’t miss Y/N by accident. We both heard you come through. I… may have hid Y/N away via the camouflage tarp. You know? The one I’d been testing from those mutant chameleon scales we picked up?”
“Why would you-!?” Mikey took a step forward and thought Leo might stop him.
No hands moved.
It was odd enough that it gave Mikey pause to search for his blue brother.
Just off to the side, he found the slider glowering at the ground with a furrowed brow ridge.
Mikey best guess was Leo was berating himself for missing two things in one night.
The lot of them weren’t just off their usual games, they were acting in each other’s roles.
“Did Y/N ask you to?” Mikey found himself needing to be the level headed one with Leo supposedly out of commission.
“Not verbally.”
“Not-!” It was too much, but Mikey pressed. “Why then?”
“I hadn’t gotten my response. I knew the moment you got your hands on Y/N, I would never have the chance. I needed… I needed to know.” Donnie’s eyes closed and he slumped the smallest bit.
Mikey took satisfaction in that.
Any comeuppance was immediately offset by further guilt.
Being mad at Donnie wasn’t going to get him closer to you.
Donnie clearly knew he was in the wrong.
Mikey would interrogate him later.
He’d find out what his purple brother was hiding.
He disliked how you both had information he wasn’t aware of.
The rot of not knowing twisted inside of him.
It merged with the image of your shredded face.
This wasn’t Donnie’s fault.
Or Leo’s.
It was his. “I… broke Y/N’s trust.”
“I… don’t think it’s so simple.” Donnie shuffled, uncomfortable with the whole matter.
“It’s not.” Leo stepped in verbally, but kept his distance.
Donnie perked up, catching the nuisance there. “What are you talking about? Did something else happen?”
“We need to talk to April.” Leo noted with a leader’s authority that said it was time to rendezvous.
Long used to the chain of command, Donnie animated to summon the rest of the team via the comm.
Tapping the waves, the others rallied with minor complaints.
They wanted and deserved explanations which sent Mikey wallowing into a corner.
Casey’s voice cracked the line and demanded to know why her hunt was called off.
It took Leo growling out a stern, “Return to base,” for the others to quiet.
It was the Hamato way to be messy.
They got the job done with individuality.
Mikey heard Donnie approach him.
It was too soon.
Mikey didn’t look as he took off.
He never glanced behind him once.
All the way to the living room.
The space was quiet and the move sat on a pause screen. Mikey walked toward the projector before looking out at the chaos he had wrought. It dotted the space and everything was turned over save his dad’s chair. Sitting in it was Splinter, fast asleep. If this were any other night, Mikey would have approached his dad to ask why he’d been late to movie night.
He’d be up soon enough.
The others clambered in and the head Hamato was immediately roused. Leo helped field their dad who was frustrated that he was left out of the loop. Arguments ensued and Mikey was thankful as it gave him additional time to process. He needed the moment and knew he wouldn’t have long before he’d be the one under scrutiny. Whether it was from the many explanations everyone was due or this supposed lecture he was supposed to get from expert April, Mikey needed to make sure he would be able to accept all that was about to occur.
He might have had more time if Donnie wasn’t poking holes in his thoughts with his gaze alone.
A minute was all he needed.
Something that no one in this family seemed to want to give.
When April arrived, it was with a commotion that alone made her worthy of the Hamato crest. Even while restraining a foaming at the mouth Casey, April had the wherewithal to take in the room’s quieter occupants. Only slightly less of a tactician’s mind than Leo, April screamed for Sunita. The slime yokai wasn’t far off and bounced up, sticky fingers ready. Casey sensed she was about to be carted away and prepared to fight the decision until April released her. Confused by the freedom, Casey spun around only for April to fold her arms and say that she was proud. Suspicious to a fault, Casey warily took the bait as to why and April continued on praising Casey for how excited she was to discuss feelings as they were about to.
With a deadpan, Casey searched the room and, with one glance at Mikey’s crestfallen face, she knew.
Throwing her head back as if she hadn’t just been in a screeching headlock, she asked Sunita to hang out somewhere away from where the weaklings would cry together.
With a whisper to April, Sunita agreed and Mikey saw Casey throw up a concerned a call me hand sign to April before the pair exited.
The momentary lap in silence revealed Leo whispering in a hushed conversation with his dad.
The others looked on expectantly and Splinter rose under the attention. “I will return for the recap!”
He hopped out of his chair and headed for the kitchen.
Now four brothers and one honorary sister, April address the group. “So… How about that crush, huh Mikey?”
“That’s…!” Raph jumped at the chance to dispel the heavy air. “That’s good! Right, big man?” He turned to Mikey, twitchy. “I mean it’s not… good, good considering… that Y/N sort of… Uhhhh…”
“April, I’m broken.” Mikey cut through and decided he was as ready as he’d ever be.
“Mikey, you’re not-“ Leo rolled his head with minor irritation.
Donnie blinked between parties trying to piece together what he had missed.
“Broken? Whatcya mean?” April steered toward the youngest.
“Something’s wrong. I told Leo. Something’s not right. Do you think my mystic energy could be getting in the way? Drax was telling me that my channels are unbalanced or something, but he always says that to get me back on my training. I know he’s worried, he just-“
April placed her hands on both his shoulders and gave him one single shake. “How about we focus on one thing at a time? Like how I don’t even know what you think is wrong?”
“Right!” Mikey chirped, always glad for her straight to the point attitude.
He’d modeled himself after her in that way.
“What’s wrong?” She patted him, but held firm. “Something with your crush?”
“Yeah!” That was another thing he liked, she always understood. That was probably why she’d been able to get so close to Donnie. “It’s not right. I know I have feelings for Y/N, but my channels are all gummed up… Oh!!! The emotions aren’t flowing right! That’s it! Yup! It’s just like my ninpo! That’s gotta be it! I think I figured it out! What do you think, Leo?!”
Mikey turned to find Leo giving the twice the grimace he had earlier.
Instead of apologizing, Leo turned away with a sweaty laugh.
“That’s… one option.” April gave her own nervous nod. “Mind if I hear Leo’s interpretation too?”
“Uh… sure…” Mikey was sure he cracked it.
Leo had a particular gift when it came to hunches though.
“Let’s hear it.” April released Mikey to fold her arms in a neutral way.
“You’re getting the second telling of the night.” Leo wiped his brow and flicked back his mask. “The first time Mikey explained it was something like he feels like the feelings should be there, but they aren’t.”
“They aren’t…?” April’s eyes shot up to consider the details given before she returned to Mikey. “You also said you were broken.”
Mikey nodded.
“He compared his crush to ours. What he’s seen all of us do. Even Barry which is like, ew right? How do you even know about that?!” Leo stuck his tongue out.
The two silent brothers twitched at their footnotes.
Another flicker of her pupil, April clicked her tongue. “Damn, would that make this your first one…? Wait, is that right??”
Mikey was caught.
He’d gotten away with not having to deal with this conversation for years.
The rest of his family was painfully dramatic when it came to their relationship statuses and he was often relegated as the calm one of the bunch.
His annoying youngest label had also been a benefit as he seemingly wasn’t considered old enough.
He supposed that was one of the few perks.
“First we’ve known.” Raph offered.
For April, that wasn’t good enough. “Mikey?”
“The… first… yeah…” Mikey drew out, feeling painfully self conscious.
He hadn’t meant to get to 28 without a crush.
He’d tried.
More than once.
There was that cute yokai girl at this favorite ink stand in the hidden city.
The barista who always drew him the cutest doodles on his disposable cups.
That Brooklyn boy who moonlighted as a vigilante of his own.
That psych major with the dimples.
There were even more than that.
Fleeting instances where he swore feelings would catch.
The wick in his chest was only waiting to be lit.
He could manifest fire with barely a thought, but it was the one place he couldn’t make it occur.
It was a hollow feeling, but he didn’t feel empty.
The candle was there.
Stationary and not making him feel less.
And yet it refused to serve its purpose.
What was the point?
“Mikey…” April patted his head like she used to do when he was a kid.
It was the third time tonight he was taken back to his past.
How long was he going to keep being a kid about everything?
Something warm and wet hit his hand and when he went to look, he found tears falling again.
Only salt and water, he wiped his cheeks to find more of them.
How long would he keep crying about this?
“I’m sorry…” She murmured and he pushed into her hand so she’d pet him harder. “You’re okay. You’re not broken.”
“How do you know? I know you got your bat and you’ve picked up spells, but can you see my mystic energy channels!?” Mikey huffed through his fractured emotions.
“I can’t. What I can see is how upset this is making you and I want to help, but I’m gonna need to know more.”
“Like what?! What else is there?! I told you! I’m wrong! Like the ooze skipped a step in making me! My emotions are messed up!”
“Shh…” She pulled him into a hug and continued to stroke his head. “What’s wrong with the way you feel? You care about Y/N right?”
He nodded furiously, knowing he was rubbing snot into her shirt.
She didn’t care. “How is that wrong?”
“It’s not enough. When-” He hiccupped. “When Leo first met that bunny, it was palpable. The affection radiated off of him in waves. When Donnie first saw Atomic Lass, he was so young! His eyes lit up like he was looking at one of his inventions! When that waitress hit on Raph, he became a blubbering mess, but you could tell she was all he thought about for weeks after! I’m not… I’m not like any of them.”
“Because you’re you.” April pushed him to a comfortable arm’s length away so she could view him. “What’s that thing you said about replicas?”
Mikey couldn’t help but smile.
He loved how April remembered that.
“That there is no true replica for a moment.”
It was a fact he’d learned in practice.
There was no way to recapture an instant.
It didn’t matter the medium used.
You could only create an ode to it.
It was only possible to inspire the feeling.
Cooking was an art.
Painting was an art.
They were called Mystic Arts.
Martial Arts.
They were creative expressions and the experience of life itself.
“No two people feel romance the same, they also don’t have to feel it at all.” She explained.
Mikey felt every muscle in his body drop.
Thankful for April’s strength and the hours she’d put in at the gym solely to beat Casey at arm wrestling, she was the only thing keeping him upright.
“Romance…?” He quacked, the sound splitting him.
April only gave the barest nod, encouraging whatever was happening.
Was it an epiphany?
He wasn’t so sure.
It was more like he finally saw the candle for what it was.
The wick was real for sure.
Only the entire thing was electric.
It never needed to be lit.
It held a light all his own.
“Different types of love…” Mikey mumbled. “Family, friends…” He gave a half laugh. “Romance?” He checked in with April.
She watched on, patiently.
Leo snorted.
April preemptively shushed him.
Leo wrapped a hand around his mouth and shook his head.
This was Leo’s hunch then.
“This seems… kinda obvious?” Raph asked openly.
Donnie backhanded his older brother’s plastron and gave him a look that said ‘don’t.’
Donnie knew then too.
At least someone was on his side.
That was why Raphie was his favorite.
Raph was also still different from him.
That burning flame in his big brother’s chest had to be a torch.
It had guided them all for so long.
It would go on to be nurtured by someone else.
Heat.
“Oh… Oh no…” Mikey made a disgusted face. “Does that mean…?”
He had to spin around.
To see all their faces and the different understandings.
Romance was always equated with sex.
He wasn’t sure if he was repulsed by it, but it had been such a thing.
Donnie had been the first of them to find his urges on that front.
Mikey thought he was too young, but it apparently varied.
Splinter had completely whiffed the birds and bees talk and made it into a family ordeal much to everyone’s horror.
Except Mikey.
He watched the others squirm and couldn’t figure out why.
Sure, the content was gross, but it was just a talk.
It had felt like he was removed.
Donnie, meanwhile, was mortified.
The others were ready to pounce on him for instigating the topic.
He had tried to dig down and bury himself during which had spurned on further conversation about holes.
The talk which was repeated three separate times for each awakening was never one that resonated with Mikey.
All the shame and worry that the others had didn’t struck Mikey in the same way.
When he’d asked dad, as soon as the others ran away to their respective rooms, Splinter had simply said it was because he wasn’t ready.
He was too young.
Someday soon though, it would come.
But only age did.
Outside of crushes, puberty hit a house with four teen boys in it.
Changing bodies and hormone horrors.
More shame, more hiding, more and different talks, but still.
Mikey didn’t understand.
There were rushes.
Things he’d wake up too.
His body would do things, but he’d shake it off.
A quick shower and the tide would calm.
He tested, of course.
He’d heard his brothers complain about the aftermath in whispers.
How it was worth it, but at what cost.
The price of admission wasn't worth it, let alone an exit fee.
It hadn’t felt like anything in particular.
A sort of empty pleasure that seemed like a waste.
He didn’t bother and eventually his body evened out.
He waited for the others to join him in passivity.
They only needed to let it pass and, in a way, it did.
It also never left them.
From then on, they’d talk about it and when they did, he wanted to roll his eyes.
So much effort.
So messy.
Throwing other people into the mix.
For what?
You got the same if not more pleasure from eating a perfectly balanced dish.
You might as well cook.
Or better yet, you could feel the sense of accomplishment that came with seeing the work of art you’d been painting for months come to fruition.
Oftentimes it never matched your mind's image, but instead became something better.
That was priceless.
Every second was worth it.
You worked towards something.
Something that could be similarly intangible, but who could argue with those results?
That was what irritated him.
It was so easy for him to live without sex being a thing.
The others were boring.
How could you have a one track mind about something like that?
Blinking wide, Mikey turned to April.
“Don’t… don’t tell me they’re connected?”
Why hadn’t he realized?
In that department, he never thought he was broken.
He’d simply thought the others were addled.
Their sex drives were choked up to their emotional constipations.
He had refused to be Doctor Sex-Ed.
“They’re not.” April offered, quiet as if still not wanting to intrude.
“What?” Mikey needed her to say it.
“Sex and romance.” April responded quick and to the point.
Raph let out a drawled syllable and this time both Leo and Donnie punched the larger turtle’s chest.
“They’re… but I don’t…?”
“There’s labels…” She pulled out her phone.
“We’re not into labels.” Mikey responded automatically as he stared at her fingers tacking over the screen.
Human hands fascinated him.
They were his favorite to draw.
So delicate in comparison to theirs.
Sleek.
Functional.
April held out her phone for him to see and on the screen were horizontal bars in turtle colors and monochromatics.
Resisting reading it aloud, he took the device and flipped through the entry.
This was the flagged representation of aromanticism.
Romanticism was just as much a spectrum as sexuality.
There was more.
There were enormous blocks of text and details.
He didn’t have time.
Or at least, that’s what the latent rush of his mind said.
He had meant to run to you.
It now seemed like his time would be of better use elsewhere.
 “You don’t have to use a label, but sometimes they help. Like for research.” She shrugged.
“You…” Mikey looked around the faces in the room. “You guys can go. I need to… think about this…”
Donnie nodded first, walking off before Leo patted Raph’s carapace strategically. “Come on Big Red, how about I clear this up for you?”
“Yeah, please.” Raph glanced over to Mikey and hesitated. “You sure? You don’t seem good…”
“I can’t go through the explanation again… And I really don’t want to hear it from Leo.” Mikey gave a deadened stare before flicking his gaze to his blue brother. “No offense.”
“None taken.” Leo tipped his head with a grin. “I already said I wasn’t the expert, that’s why I brought her in.” He snapped toward April and she returned the finger gun before Leo led Raph out.
Now alone with his sister, Mikey held her phone out while simultaneously searching for his own. “Why does Leo keep saying you’ll know?”
“When Leo realized he wasn’t all that straight, he sort of had a crisis.”
Mikey blinked wide.
As far as he knew, Leo had owned his sexuality.
All he could remember was Leo’s extravagant coming out which had included a very exact number of unicorns. “Wait, wha-?”
“He was kinda worried about what you guys would think, but mostly he was worried about Splints. Splints doesn’t… come from the best culture for that kind of thing and Leo needed to get out of the lair to talk about it, just in case.”
“I…” Mikey’s gaze dropped, halfway through typing out ‘aromantic’ into his search bar. “I didn’t know he was struggling back then… I- I wasn’t there I-“
“Nope, none of that.” April clapped his arm. “One, it’s in the past and two, it’s like that sometimes. No matter how much your family loves and understands, sometimes you gotta go outside the unit. It’s like being in your own head. You gotta get out.”
“You are family.” Mikey reminded her, knowing full well April had doubted her place through the years.
“You know what I mean.” She flicked his forehead.
He fell back dramatically for the sake of it.
She smirked above him before offering a hand and hoisting him up.
She really could have knocked him off his feet with a finger if she wanted.
“Anyway, back then we had a long talk about it. We had a sleepover, another talk, lunch, another talk. Leo’s pretty damn stubborn. He talked himself in so many circles it was like, boy how did you not know you already weren’t straight?!” She laughed big and loud.
Mikey smiled.
“Anyway, unlike you who needs to come to these conclusions on his own, Leo is the kind of guy that needs to be validated. So I told him about how I realized I was demi.”
“Wait, what do you mean conclusions?” Mikey pouted.
April tilted her head and arched a brow that said it was obvious. “Mikey, seriously? You’re stubborn as hell. If anyone told you how you feel about something, you would purposefully stop just because you were told.”
Mikey pursed his lips until it puckered his whole mouth. “Do not!”
“You’re literally doing it right now.” She pointed with an ace in the hole.
Like his mind was blown, his jaw dropped before he grumbled it away. “Okay maybe…” he had to bite down to keep from saying that he still wasn’t totally sure, but that in and of itself cinched the truth for him. “What’s demi then?”
“I… I mighta thought I was aro for a bit.” She gestured to his phone and he finished up that typing in the search. “You already know I couldn’t connect with my peers. I was always more interested in a scoop or busting baddies than kissing. I felt… like I’d never be part of anything…”
Mikey inhaled sharply, ready to tackle this self consciousness, but April held her hand out to stop him.
“My past, I’m good now.”
Mikey nodded and lowered his guard.
“But then I got to know Casey. Seeing how she was the same. How she also couldn’t fit in with her peers, crappy or not.” She sent Mikey a brow wiggle.
Mikey chuckled.
“We were both outsiders and total enemies to lovers.” April mused wistfully. “I remember the first time I felt it. It was years after she’d turned over her new leaf. We were out camping, the proper one that Splints finally got going.”
Mikey knew the one.
“All those stars and I thought ‘damn someone put them in her eyes.’” April softened at the memory. “I kissed her right then and the sparks…” She shook her head.
“Then… can’t… I be like that? I just need to know Y/N longer and...!”
“Well…” She placed a hand on his shoulder. “You might not. Just because it happened for me, doesn’t mean it’ll happen for you. Remember, we’re all different here. Everyone is. There’s no right way. There’s no wrong one either.”
Mikey slumped and stared as that flag that was populating his search.
If it wasn’t green he thought maybe he could hate it.
That was a lie, all colors had their place.
Blinking at that thought, he walked over and headbutted April’s arm. “Thank you April… This… I needed this.”
“Yeah, you take some time. Whatever you need. You need to talk more, you call me, kay?” She bumped him right back.
“Is there anyone I’m not in debt too?” He mused dryly before heading towards his room. It was there he curled up with his phone and mentally willed himself to engage. It took several re-readings, but eventually the text started to take. Soon, Mikey was exploring every internet resource possible until the glowing starry stick-ons that he covered his ceiling with stared back at his bloodshot eyes. “Aroace, huh?”
