Okay Ren question, sorry if someone else has asked this before but as far as I know of.. no(?) If so feel free to ignore!

I know you've said numerous times that Ren doesn't really have any interests or cares towards anything or anyone that isn't Angel... but what if his Angel has high purity and encourages him to have a personality outside of them?

Like they let him have interests, opinions, be their own person outside of Angel- would he actually do it? Or would he just act "normal"?

⌞♥⌝ Even with high Purity (or in this case, low Decay), Ren will still be a yandere who caters towards Angel's interests; he'll just be a lot less obvious with it. The Purity meter only affects how Ren perceives Angel's treatment towards him (i.e. being nice to him out of genuine kindness rather than some hidden manipulation tactic). Higher Purity means Ren will perceive Angel's actions as something done out of love rather than something decrepit or immoral.

The Decay meter, however, tracks Angel's overall influence over Ren. Higher Decay means Ren will start acting more violent and "morbid", whereas low decay will keep him "normal". The higher the Decay meter, the more grotesque things Ren will suggest doing in Angel's presence (since Angel is showing clear signs of being into it).

Regardless, canonically or otherwise, I don't think it's possible to let Ren have his own agency or interests separate from Angel. At the end of the day, he's an obsessive yandere who thinks that becoming someone's ideal type will make them love him. If he were to become more "independent" (with his own personality and interests), he'd feel as though he's drifting away from Angel and no longer hold their interest. Like... If he's not into the same things as Angel or presenting himself in a certain way, then he's wasting time, resources, and effort on something that won't give him any payoff. He also has no interest in anything that doesn't involve Angel in the first place ^^;

Ren can definitely feign having his own separate interests and personality — however, it'd all be fake, superficial, and closely (maybe even conveniently) related to any of Angel's interests. For example, if Angel likes novels and anime, Ren will pretend he's into manga. If Angel has a liking for eating healthy food, Ren will feign interest in cooking shows and chef cookbooks.

The only time I can see Ren having his own personality is his untraumatised/yanderen't version.

I’m still processing how it happened and wondering what it all means, but today a big pink hamfaced English guy tried to fight Dr Glass in a parking lot (!) and a completely unrelated, amazingly tall woman appeared (!!) and charged the other guy in defense of Dr Glass (!!!) shouting at him so effectively that he got in his car and drove off.

Dr Glass doesn’t look like anything in particular or even do that much, he is so ORDINARY. He just emits some kind of magnetic field that causes Events, and yet the magnetic field also creates feedback that insulates him from the Events. Doesn’t even have to do his own fight scenes!! just magnetically attracts a TALL BRAVE WOMAN to destroy the entire fighting premise. No one can prepare for this. I feel like I’m the only person who notices it

Imagine coming home after a long day and they just hug you. They hug you in a way that melts all the tension from your muscles, and makes the stresses of the day fade into some distant memory. It’s one of those hugs you feel like you could fall asleep in, but you don’t want to because you want to savor every ounce of it even though you know you’ll get a million more of them

Regardless of how long Ghost has been dating or married to someone, I feel that he needs his own room. He needs to be able to have a space that is entirely his that he can go into and shut and lock the door when he needs to.

It’s probably multipurpose. Doubles as an extra bedroom and maybe an office/workroom. But the point is that it’s his, entirely.

Ghost has his good days and his bad days, and his bad days can be downright awful. And even though he can recognize that nothing tangible has changed; his partner(s) aren’t anymore annoying than usual, their habits haven’t horrifically changed from one day to the next, they aren’t louder or more invasive. It really is just him. But that doesn’t change the fact that he finds himself itching for an argument, feels his skin crawl at being perceived, finds irritation in things that normally would be brushed off with a huff and a roll of his eyes.

It helps to know that he can go into this bedroom and shut the door. That he controls every aspect of this room. It’s organized and cleaned to his exact standards. Everything is where he wants it to be. That when he feels overwhelmed and his words can’t be anything but harsh and grating, he can lock the door and come down from there, and his partner(s) know to wait until he’s ready.

Even beyond that, some nights Simon can’t sleep with someone beside him. He wakes up and his mind makes him think he’s in a different place and time. And regardless of how much his partner(s) love him, he knows it can be tiring dealing with his multiple night terrors. And truthfully, sometimes when he wakes up he doesn’t want the doting, he just wants to lay there in silence until it goes away.

But I also think there’s a certain intimacy of it. When Ghost invites you into this space he’s created for himself, wants you to lay there with him or sit on his bed while he works. That you know him well enough to catch his tells. When the door is propped open he’s inviting you to come investigate what he’s doing, that even though it’s his room he keeps a spare throw across his bed for when you come to keep him company.
