Emma gave it a name, and she named it ‘For you, I would.’  The unspoken energy between them. The otherworldly, gravitational pull that seemed to stretch but never break – that first began with, ‘You’re Henry’s birth mother?’ and exploded into billions of stars with, ‘You worked too hard to have your happiness destroyed,’ unleashing cascading stardust that would engulf them both. The unspoken bond that started first on fragile paper but grew into volumes and volumes of books – the kind that legends were made of, the kind that would carry on for centuries and be passed down through generations until humankind took its last breath. The unspoken thing, without words – where action always superseded them anyway. In every realm, in every moment, in every breath, for neither would rest until the other was saved.  The Savior and her Queen. The Mayor and her Sheriff. Unspoken lovers, teetering on the edge of chance. Of choice.  The world never hears Emma speak of love, but it sure as hell sees it. “We’re free,” he whispered, his voice catching as he chuckled— a soft, bubbly, relieved sound that made Crowley smile instantly.

“We’re free,” the redhead repeated, the words tasting strange and wonderful, like something he never dared to hope for. Threading his fingers through the soft blonde locks, he leaned in until their foreheads touched, the closeness grounding them both.

Slowly, they moved even closer, breathing each other’s air. The world seemed to still around them; the clatter of passing cars muted, the gentle hum of the city distant. Their lips brushed— soft and unhurried. Their hands turned into fists around the other’s clothes, holding onto everything they could reach in an effort to get as close as possible. Their hearts felt lighter, drumming happily in their chests as they kissed their partner’s smile.

Summary:

Mere hours before their plan to influence Warlock Dowling is set in motion, Crowley receives an unsettling phone call that unravels everything. A careless mistake made on the night the Antichrist arrived on earth, leads Aziraphale and Crowley into a frantic search for a newborn in Tadfield, but their efforts quickly prove fruitless. In a haze of frustration and alcohol, Aziraphale devises a scheme to make them appear more approachable, hoping it will improve their chances of uncovering the information they desperately need.

Just how awful would everything have been if they'd been at all competent?
