                                          Diversity has been elementary characteristic of India society . We as an Indian celebrate it. Because such a diverse population living together as one nation and under one flag, Indians have so many things to give the politically and regionally divided people . The idea of ‘unity in diversity ‘ has always been the crux of developing traditional Indian intelligentsia and philosophical ethos . Indian civilization has generally been inclusive to different culture , value system and religions . Besides the suffering of gravest colonial exploitation for two hundred years , Before that, facing so many of aggression and currently being a third world country with 60-70 % of poor population , India practices democracy . Being the largest democracy as well consistently maintaining the political democratic institutions and set ups, India placed a distinctive position in third world countries . Despite of being so huge and populas, country with colonial past is surviving under the democratic system is seen as miracle by western intellectual and historian.

“My mind’s an Octopus reaching tentacles of thought in 8 different directions at once”.

Do we all feel like that at some point in our lives? Well, honestly we feel like that most of the times.Don’t we? Just like the octopus, we too have many tentacles in terms of thought processes. Every day we end up hanging out with our thoughts, our perceptions, our beliefs & attitudes which reflects on our choices and behaviors. We end up having different things going on simultaneously all at one time. Today’s virtual world of connectivity is all about Instagram and Twitter which we carry within our pockets each and every moment. We end up engaging in different thought processes related to our connections of the world and the universe on the whole.  How great would it be if one could sync all these thoughts together at one place, get sorted out in the head, manage all these tentacles at one go and feel more holistic. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have someone to reach out to who could provide guidance and coach us to become better versions of ourselves?

Ever thought how the Octopus does it all? An interesting fact about the Octopus is that they symbolize Vision, Intelligence & Insight. These magnificent marine animals convey that one can quickly move through any barriers that are keeping one from achieving goals and reaching great heights. They symbolize the power to let things go and bounce back up soon after an unpleasant experience.

Each person is moulded by what’s within i.e. what he or she was born with and what’s on the outside i.e. the learnings and the value systems. We humans are governed by what Psychologists call as nature & nurture. Gyaan Hangout is the bridge that connects these two factors that defines each individual. Loyalty Tests

I am not sure how we have gotten here- but it seems like loyalty is the mainstream value in the modern world.

Loyalty in and of itself is not a bad thing. The problem I see is the expected loyalty to family units or job requirements or “the way things are” or society at large- all over loyalty to oneself.

See many of us are told by relatives I’ll love you no matter what. But it seems most love is conditional based upon absolute acceptance of the way things are or ought to be.

When push comes to shove, one step out of line can be extremely punished. Any question of doubt about the unit is immediately ostracized.

Not even factoring in actual neglect or abuse, just having the audacity to choose oneself or to begin the process of questioning the ways things are can be extremely difficult.

So why is that one choice met with such resistance? With negativity? With disdain? With figurative pearl-clutching and “how dare you’s?”

I would argue that the value of loyalty is so ingrained that most of us don’t even know we are prioritizing it as a value. Honestly, most people don’t even know what their values are anymore.

No wonder they are resistant to change. Change is scary when you’re clinging to the ideals of a static fixed life.

I know several people that are going through the process of removing toxic people from their life. In doing so, they have lost others along the way and I have seen them judged harshly and critically. Rarely have I seen anyone take the time to learn the story. Or ask Or “How can I support you during this hard time?”

Let’s stop putting loyalty to others on a pedestal. Let us honor the courage to be different and ask questions. Let’s follow others on the journey and be willing to trust their instincts. Maybe in doing so, we can learn to trust our own.

A human is a combination of an emotional being and a rational being, he changes not necessarily because he wants to change but he is dominated by his emotion and rationality, his decisions and choices are influenced by his rationality and emotional nature. Therefore, it is very important to develop the mercy mindset, where we give room for humans to be truly humans and not a God or a computer. We are set free from the efficacy of offense and pain of disappointment when we take a human as humans irrespective of the special attributes they have. Humans can't be trusted because we are humans, it has nothing to do with being good or bad.
