What undertale songs would you assign to coe characters

ok so!! to me, a lot of undertale, deltarune, and homestuck tracks and live in the same genre, so I ended up doing a mix of all three! I didn't do EVERY character, but i did a bunch of them! In no particular order Tucking them under a cut because it gets long!

Noa Enomoto - Snowdin town her DLC record's track reminds me so strongly of this one that i had to do it

Mutei Harada - Premonition Self explanatory! Very much just gives off the VibesTM

You Jabuchi - Battle Against a True Hero ougughgh it's a little melancholy and bittersweet but the themes of justice are soooo strong,, it's a fight track so it makes me think of jabuchi's boss fight

Reiji Isoi - Song That Might Play when you Fight Sans I have no reasoning for this, it's just fun!

Haruki Isoi - Fallen (soundtest) Quietly melancholy. There's something so sad about Haruki to me,,

Haruki Atou - Field of Hopes and Dreams I'm gonna be honest this one is just pure bias. I like the undertones of it a lot and it just feels very reminiscent of Atou to me

Eiji Shinano - DOGSONG sorry i had to and Enemy Approaching dogboy joke aside (<3) I think Energy Approaching is an upbeat and fun track! I thought it was cute <3

Ryuu Nijou - Killed by BR8K Spider!!!!!!!! this was self indulgent for me <3 he had to get a vriska track, i do in fact make the rules

Seodore Riddle - Empty Town and Judgement Day Chiptune draws more attention to the "game" aspect, and there's something compelling in with associating the immortal with an empty town... Something about time moving on without him Judgement day is half bc of the name (Judgement IS Seo's tarot card, after all) and It's just a fun fight track tbh

Hajime Hatsutori - Waterfall and Black quietly foreshadowing the end of this Divine Comedy. less of a character song and more of an atmosphere... Think like Ch 7-ish? Black is bc i am just.

Naming of the Flowerpots-era flowerpot trio - Moonsetter I DON'T NEED TO EXPLAIN THIS ONE i'm just right. Moonsetter fans understand me

Noriyuki Utsugi - Flare this is vibes based again. A quiet song, really just gives off record 7 vibes to me,, the bits of distortion throughout the track REALLY give off the energy of Utsugi bottling everything up and spiraling, trying to fix it all on his own,,

Sanemitsu Isoi - Heir of Grief am i biased in giving this to sanemitsu? yes. but guys hear me out. hear me out. it's bittersweet and has strong motifs and i cry over the piano parts. you can associate different motifs and sections with different parts of Sanemitsu's Life, whether it be living as Minoru Harada, Sanemitsu Isoi, or Code:DANTE. I'm so normal

Lin Orie - Theme of Andrew Hussie ( Let's Read a Webcomic ~ You're Welcome ) System.NH encourages metafiction themed songs, and thus Mr. N Portman has gotten Hussie's theme! also they're both green <3 It's an upbeat and fun theme!

Aogu Kanou - Amalgam fast bpm, a little bit of an unnerving song, which makes it a lot of fun <3!

Nina Yanagi - Requiem of Sunshine and Rainbows Heavy piano motif (yanagi core to me), has an underlying tone of determination to parallel her rising determination throughout A/S/S+ routes!

Rumeseo - Phantasmic Youngsters its the country vibes that did it,, it reminds me of their interlude track, it's just a cute song tbh

[2024.05.15] Ice Jewels Vol. 19 : Toby Fox - "RE_PRAY" is the freedom to try new things

Hello everyone! I am Toby Fox, the developer of the game "UNDERTALE" and the composer of all the original soundtracks in the game. This time, Yuzuru Hanyu used the music I composed, "MEGALOVANIA", "Bergentruckung" and "ASGORE" in the "RE PRAY" performance. I am really honoured and I still can't believe it. In fact, although this is my first time to watch an ice show live, I am still amazed by Hanyu's superb skating skills. I think every move Hanyu showed must be extremely difficult, but the smoothness of his moves makes people completely unaware of the difficulty... I don't know much about figure skating, and if I were to give an evaluation of the performance, I'm afraid it would be "super awesome, so awesome", so this time please allow me to write my thoughts on other elements of the ice show.

Inspiration from my "UNDERTALE"? Having said that, a special warning! What I'm going to talk about next is not only "UNDERTALE", but there will also be spoilers for the "RE PRAY" performance, so please be careful... I heard that the story outline and some scenes of the "RE PRAY" performance (especially the first half) seem to be inspired by "UNDERTALE", right? I actually watched it and I think there are indeed some similarities. For example... First, about the "replay" structure of the story. As we all know, "UNDERTALE" has two quite extreme routes. One is the killing route where you defeat all enemies to gain experience points and sacrifice everything except yourself to become stronger. The other is the pacifist route where you advance in the game world without hurting anyone. Although the content of the second half of "RE PRAY" is not quite the same as the pacifist route of "UNDERTALE", the "destructive" route in the first half is very similar to the killing route of "UNDERTALE". Defeating all the enemies he encountered, gaining strength and making sacrifices, and finally reaching the incredibly difficult level, this journey made Hanyu-san suffer a lot. This part really reminds people of the final battle in "UNDERTALE" when you choose to defeat all enemies. After that, just like the plot in "UNDERTALE", Hanyu-san's game save was deleted and he had to start from the beginning. The title "RE PRAY" also means to perform "re-prepare" (start over) in order to change the ending of the story. There are also very similar parts in the expression of the image. The scene of a red heart appearing in the middle of the black screen appears several times, which is the symbolic picture of "UNDERTALE". As a game character, Hanyu-san's eyes are also like hyphens, which is also very similar to the protagonist of "UNDERTALE". Also, the scene where Hanyu-san, the game character, finds a flower that looks like it is illuminated by a spotlight is also reminiscent of a scene in the beginning of the game "UNDERTALE". In addition, the corridor that serves as the stage for the scene “where Hanyu-san is in agony when reaching a difficult level" mentioned earlier is exactly the same as the location where the boss battle that "tortured" most of the players of "UNDERTALE" took place. The "final boss" that Hanyu-san fights looks very similar to the final boss in "UNDERTALE". In this way, I found many similarities and was extremely excited to watch. When I was at the venue, I thought, "Eh? Could this be the one from "UNDERTALE"!?", and in a positive sense, I smiled (laughs).

What is the meaning of the story...? Based on this, there are many things in the first half that remind people of "UNDERTALE", but I think the story of this performance can also be explained in another way. Of course, what Hanyu-san meant by "gaining experience points" and "making sacrifices" was not just about defeating the enemy literally. The enemy to be defeated was probably the tournaments he had participated in so far, and the scene of him struggling in the corridor probably symbolized the long years of hard training to achieve a perfect performance. In other words, this was a route that sacrificed all of his private life in order to become the world's number one. However, his time as a competitor ended, and that route also came to an end. Then began the second route. Every performance began with being locked behind a fence, and Hanyu-san realized that his way of survival had trapped him in a small space. He walked out of the cycle of tournaments and refused to play this game over and over again. In this way, he would reach a space where there was nothing. But even so, he was still not free. He was still controlled and trapped by some existence. However, he didn't know what that existence was. So he began to pray. To gain freedom, he prayed to the "god". But who exactly was this "god"? In my opinion, isn't "God" Hanyu's audience? He is just a game character, a puppet controlled to please the audience. He cannot live a normal life and is often forced to play the role of "Hanyu Yuzuru". Then, Hanyu, who began to doubt that he was just a game character, stood on the stage and began to pray in a literal sense in front of the audience. Finally, he found a place he had never seen before. It was an unknown and incredibly beautiful place. "God", that is, the audience, has always regarded Hanyu as a "character". But it is also thanks to the grace of "God" that Hanyu has found new freedom. That is the freedom to challenge new things and keep trying (just like this performance). In addition, Hanyu also used this opportunity to call on the audience to cherish and protect their own freedom and daily life. Of course, this is just my own interpretation, and it is not the result of in-depth research. However, I think the wonderful thing about this performance is that it can be interpreted freely in any way. So, it would be great if everyone could come up with their own interpretations!  

The power I felt through his performance What moved me the most was that I could feel the power of his performance even when he wasn't performing any difficult moves. Here are some scenes that left a deep impression on me: ■ In "A Fleeting Dream" program of "Final Fantasy X" that appeared in the beginning of the ice show, there was a scene where he skated along the curve extending from the huge trees drawn by lights on the ice. That performance instantly moved my heart... Although he was just skating, I felt a sense of nostalgia. The moment I saw it, I thought "This is the best thing I have ever seen in my life" (sorry for the exaggeration). ■ Before "MEGALOVANIA" started, the venue went dark and silent, and Hanyu-san took his time to slowly enter the ice. The only sound echoing in the venue was the sound of his skates, raising anticipation for the next program. ■ As a fanservice, he put his face close to the camera and covered it with his hand. Everyone couldn't help but cheer and scream. I did the same. The audience around me was mostly female, and I was the only foreign male voice. This development seemed a little strange... ■ He took a tissue from the Pooh tissue box and blew his nose several times. After blowing, he checked his snot for a while (no, this kind of thing doesn't matter at all, I'm so sorry...). Anyway, it was a really wonderful performance. It would be great if we could see the recording someday... If so, I hope everyone will watch it! But... maybe you can hear my cheers from the audience... I'm sorry everyone!

Nothing's really changed since I've been gone! I make a conscious effort not to do much Homestuck analysis off-blog, since I want my journey to be fully documented here.

Do people think Act 1 is pointless?

I mean, it is the slowest Act in terms of pacing, but slow pacing isn't always a bad thing. You sort of have to take it slow when your readers have this much to get to grips with.

I always pictured an English accent for Hass - although, interestingly, I didn't picture one for Jade. As a headcanon, I like the NZ one better.

Where did Grandpa grow up again, actually? He was raised by Fake Mark Twain, who was from Missouri - but I don't have a clue what a Missouri accent sounds like, let alone one from a century ago. I have a funny feeling that it's not the accent I'm imagining coming from Jade.

Now that's a ship I'd never have seen coming. Props to Hussie for coming up with something more controversial than my Feferi<>Equius.

All four kids, with four endgame weapons, might be able to challenge Jack's current incarnation - but they're not going to get the chance. You've hit the nail on the head - he's semi-perfect Jack for a reason.

I have several theories for Jade's prototyping, and every single one of them would make Jack even more dangerous than before. It's just barely possible to challenge him now, but things will only get worse.

Would Vriska have tried to negotiate? She feels like the type of person who'd rather take a beating than admit they're outclassed. Plus, I'm not sure how much she'd have to offer Aradia, who seemed entirely motivated by revenge (and, possibly, secretly motivated by timeline stuff).

All that said, I would have loved to hear Vriska trying to worm her way out of this.

It's hard to say what's a rarepair, since I don't know what ships are rare in the fandom - although I'd have a few guesses about the most common ones.

If we're going for a ship with very tenuous connections, I will submit Rose x Feferi for your appraisal. They're both fans of the Noble Circle, and their signature colors are pretty close.

You know what, I'll just review all of your ships. Tavros/Gamzee - PB&J - is pretty cute. [] I'd recommend Miracle Child for a number of reasons, but it does include a well-written Gamtav. Jack/Droog is more <> to me than it is <3. Like One Sundered Star might be influencing that? I'm not really sure. Somewhere I think I saw a Jack<>Droog. Your pre-shipping chart post isn't in the chrono; also, I'm pretty sure the A6A6I5 ask is one of mine. Gamzee/Eridan is a rarepair; I've seen it, but not often, and it's a <> in the fic I'm referencing. Kanaya<>Terezi and Feferi<>Vriska are strange enough that I've never seen them anywhere, really. [] And finally, Vriska and Tavros. These two are the textbook example of why the ashen quadrant needs to exist, and they're a perfect pair for it. [] ~LOSS (8/1/23)

Having just voted on all the Bracket A matchups, here's my thoughts:

Amber Gray fucking kills it in "Charming," and I was not expecting that jazzy but it works very well. I also like that she's mispronouncing "charmante" the whole time.

"Don't Make Me Laugh" is...fine, but I give the win to "Coraline" because it's so charming the first time you hear it, and then you realize how dark it is when you see under the surface--just like the rest of the Other World. He's basically telling her "we are spying on you through that creepy-ass doll and we're going to sew buttons on your eyes."

"The Rake's Song" is a bop, but "Little Girls" is so pathetic and spiteful that it scratches a weird kind of itch for me. You feel sorry for her even though she's singing about wringing children's necks.

I voted for "Get in the Water" eventually, but both of those are very good, so IDK.

"No One Remembers Achmed" is very silly, but it's a fitting kind of silly for a silly antagonist who gets dubbed "TIGERFUCKER" by his own guards. It's also ironically very catchy. "We Don't Talk About Bruno" just...doesn't really feel like a villain song to me with the knowledge that Bruno isn't a villain.

"Imperial March" is fucking iconic, I had to.

"Senkin Daur Bláo" sounds more interesting, I guess? "Herbert Style" just seemed like a generic techno song.

"Megalovania" is such a bop of a villain song it's its own genre. Also Jack Black seems like he's trying too hard, which results in him sounding like he's singing "bitches" at the end, which is hilarious. I know he can sing really well, but this song just doesn't really work.

"I'm The Music Meister" has Neil Patrick Harris flexing by making villains and heroes be his backup dancers. Fuck yes.

"How Can I Refuse" was better than I expected, but the janky CGI and boring setting put it a step behind "Toxic Love" and the dulcet crooning of Tim Curry.

I honestly couldn't make out like half of what Sweeney and Judge Turpin were singing in "Pretty Women," and also I kind of wanted to vote against Johnny Depp on principle.

"Come Wayward Souls" is actually sung by The Beast's VA, Samuel Ramey, Grammy-winning bass-baritone opera singer; and BOY can you tell. It's kind of like "Coraline" in that it sounds innocent at first, and then you realize "oh, this song is him telling children to succumb to despair and commit suicide in the woods so he can burn their souls for fuel. Oh, that's fucked up."

"Jaws theme" is very intimidating, even if it's not as sexy.

"It's Gonna Get Weird" is perfect for Bill Cipher's playful malice, and honestly, if I didn't know "The Edge of Dawn" was a villain song, I would never have guessed. I suppose there's a case to be made for "villain thinks they're a hero so they have a heroic-sounding song," but in that case, you gotta give me some edge!

"Poor Unfortunate Souls" is a classic, but again, "Shiny" is also very good. Kind of a personal preference one.

"Empire" is...uh...not as cool as I think it thinks it is. Again, the animation really hurts this one.

Showcase ended up being 3 minutes, good. The structure might not have been that [vague] / smushy if he worked more directly with the demo's sequencing and length.

‘Memory’: Now this has been my favourite piece from this game series since I heard it for the first time, it just evokes this sad nostalgia for what once was, the memories of what came before, of a happier time, even if it was plagued by underlying sadness, so for me this represents Sebastian’s memories of Harmony, which were sad and stressful, but he had hope, he had caring friends, he had a chance at a decent future

‘Run!’: This guy is always getting himself into trouble, no matter what, getting involved with shady people, getting himself arrested, etc.

Angelo Volta

‘Heartache’: Now this is a little bit of an odd one, because from just looking at Angelo, you wouldn’t associate him with this at all, but the reason I’m giving him this specifically because of the trauma flashback in 1.12, because in the game, this plays when you have to fight someone you see as family to “prove yourself”, it’s all very tragic, perfect for our Angel

‘Small Shock’: When he fell in love with Sebastian lmao jk, actually when he shook Seb’s hand and could suddenly feel (which is arguably when he fell for Seb so my first statement is right)

‘MEGALOVANIA’: You know when he was fighting in 1.12? Yeah, play this in the background of that scene and tell me it doesn’t fit, the whole underlying anger from grief and loss, also Angelo seems to have a strong sense of justice and can be very judgemental

‘My Castle Town’: This is kind of how Angelo feels about Augur, it is mighty, it is powerful, but it’s not fully satisfying to him, he’s not fulfilled, he wants more from life, not particularly more power, but something new

‘Rouxls Kaard’: the vibes are immaculate, perfect for Quin giving off the vibe of stuck up and snobbish despite being anything but

Liner Notes from Undertale’s 5th Anniversary Records

I hadn’t seen anyone else post these yet, so I thought I would!

Hey everybody, Toby here. First of all, I don't own a vinyl record player so I haven't listened to the vinyl. I hope they fixed all my songs to sound really cool. Maybe they added laser noises or a live orchestra. If they didn't I'm going to go to Fangamer offices and break all of the vinyl one by one over my knee.

I suppose I should talk about how I made the songs. But the truth is, this music no longer feels like something I created. And I'm happy about that. Since it entered the mainstream, "UNDERTALE" feels just like a part of culture, rather than my own personal work. Each remix, each theory, each piece of art, each story, brings its own personal meaning to the game and its music. And, the less it feels like my own work and the more it feels like "everyone's work."

That's the interesting and wonderful thing about creations. The original content is only the basic architecture. As the foundation ages, moss grows. Ivy crawls down the walls. As your memories, as your experiences around the work grow, so does its color, its shape, its meaning. Now it's been about five years since the game came out. The person who owns this vinyl. I wonder if they can clearly remember the first time they heard this game. I wonder if their feelings have changed. From the way they played the game. From the things they saw after. From the time that's passed since then. Even though the data of each record is the same, your experience may vary. That's very interesting. In five more years the music will take on another tone. What will you feel then? Will the feelings attached to each song grow weaker? Stronger? I hope you enjoy what these songs sound like after five years, and the time after that as well. Although, if you started hating the songs for some reason, that would be interesting too. Then you could help me go to Fangamer and break all of the vinyl records over my knee. Toby and I were both teenagers the first time I talked to him on a message board in 2009. I told him how much I enjoyed the piano covers he recorded on his grainy microphone. He had taught himself piano by figuring out how to play video game themes and other music he liked by ear. He had no formal training in performance or composition. Despite this, and unknown to either of us, Toby had already composed the first version of what would become one of the most popular, covered, and referenced songs to be featured in a game in the next decade. It was originally for a fan project he had put together for a Halloween contest, seven years before UNDERTALE was released, and he called it Megalovania. Not long after Toby and I first talked, we were both making music on our computers and sharing it with each other and lots of other people. Toby continued to teach himself, building a library of free instrument samples from the internet. A lot of the music in UNDERTALE was made using freely available instruments like those. In much the same way, he figured out his way through other facets of game development, from code to pixel art. Toby's work feels important to me because it is an affirmation that anyone with the basic resources he had and a willingness to learn can make something special.

Several years later, Toby showed me a demo of the game he was working on, called UNDERTALE. When I played it for the first time, I immediately noticed something about the music. It was different from what I was used to from Toby. It felt more personal, somehow. The first area, the Ruins, had this beautiful, fun melody. But there was a hint of something else underneath. Was it sadness? Or maybe loneliness? I couldn't give it a definition, all I knew for sure was that it was Toby sharing a part of himself with me as a player through the music and the world he had created. When more and more people began to play UNDERTALE I was surprised at first, but it made perfect sense! The feelings this game was sharing connected with so many people in the same way they had connected with me. In the five years since UNDERTALE came out, my reaction has changed from "I can't believe this person loves UNDERTALE too" to "Of course this person loves UNDERTALE too!" I hope if you're listening to UNDERTALE music today, you remember that not long ago Toby was a teenager figuring out his favorite songs note by note. If you love the music he's made since then, try singing one of the melodies. If you have an instrument, it might be fun to figure out how to play it on that. Maybe you're interested in drawing something, or programming a game. You never know who you may reach when you pursue your interests with passion, hard work, and of course, determination. Go Ichinose, video game composer

Congratulations on the 5th anniversary! UNDERTALE has moved and shocked game players throughout the world. It's become an important page in videogame history, hasn't it? I'm Go Ichinose from Game Freak. I've been involved in the development of games like Pocket Card Jockey, Drill Dozer, and of course, the Pokemon Series. "UNDERTALE's great!" The first time I heard that in Japan was a bit after the release in 2016. Rumors that it was an amazing game started spreading amongst my game loving friends and coworkers. But at the time, I was really busy, and I had so many unfinished games piled up, I thought all I could do was give it a quick try. But then the chance came! The director of the latest project, Ohmori, gave me the official direction: "Play UNDERTALE and listen to the music!" "Yes! I can play games at work! Lucky!" I thought, and started to play. The game was great and the music was incredible... so much so that I forgot about work and just completely fell into it. ...After beating it, I was so shaken that for a while, I just couldn't do anything. What the heck is this feeling? Was it because I didn't want to leave the world of UNDERTALE after clearing it? That's what I thought at first. But it wasn't that at all. Since the 1970s, I've tried all sorts of games, and have been moved by many of them. Luckily, I was even able to get involved with game development. When I make games or their music, I take all of the feelings I've experienced, try to replicate them within myself, and reflect it in the work. The hope is that I can give those same feelings to someone else. UNDERTALE was able to realize that same hope, with more passion and power than I ever had. Overflowing with the spirit and inspiration from many Japanese games, it didn't feel like a game that could have come out outside of Japan at all. On the other hand, despite the inspiration, it's packed with unreplicable originality... what is this!? The shock I felt could only be described as "THE 100MEGA SHOCK!"* *Translator's note: This is a NEOGEO reference. When I looked it up, the creator, Toby Fox, was an American who not only made the music, but also designed, programmed, wrote, and created the characters of the game almost all by himself. His power level must be 530,000! Terrifying... Unable to contain myself, I tweeted out my thoughts on the game and soon afterward, a response came from Toby and we became friends. Toby Fox-san... what a terrifyingly nice person. To me, this soundtrack will always be something that can move me to tears. oh... sorry.... i was rambling again... it was fun... thank you... I feel like the story of UNDERTALE is packed not only into its charming pixel art characters and beautiful world, but also in its music. One of the reasons that I found myself entranced by the game as a fan was that the personalities of these characters and the feelings of these moments in the story came through even in the soundtrack, and were a part of building that sense of the world you were in.

So for the vinyl art, I designed something to convey the appeal of the characters and places associated with these songs. I hope that as you enjoy the music, you'll also enjoy seeing which scenes are referenced in which illustration. So something I’ve noticed.

I can tell a lot of people haven’t gotten some things about Deltarune, don’t know whether it’s too subtle for them, or if they’re unknowingly just falling back to some now entrenched ideas. The Snowgrave/Wierd/Pepis/Genocide/Mindbreak the Nice Reindeer Girl Route, as well as Jevil-Spamtom-Whoever the bonuses on the later chapters will be also do it, as well as an even bigger problem, that seems to come from not getting that it’s not Undertale 2. More below the cut

it’s not Kris doing these things, in fact Kris seems to obviously not like it. You get back after the Berdley battle and winner winner frozen chicken dinner, and Susie and Ralsei notic that Chris is, excuse the language, fucking horrified at what YOU did, and when he wants to act on his own, he rips out your connection to him, his SOUL. Hell so far the bonus bosses have even pointed this out hard, with Spamtom NEO being so incredibly on the nose that even somebody blind could see it, he’s not the only one in the fight with strings holding him up. 

And hoo boy the whole route to getting Spamtom Neo as the final boss, where you, not Kris, but you the player, decide to break the mind of Noelle. It’s subtle, but if you actually pay attention, it becomes a better, “dude, what the fuck” moment than the full Genocide rout of Undertale, because there’s literally no getting around that it’s you the player doing it, it’s you the player using Kris for a bit, just to get into Noelle’s head, she thinks it’s Kris, but who merely whispers their new plaything’s name to snowgrave the Snowgrave Route’s Spamtom Neo after Kris calls for his two friends, and they don’t come? You, You whisper Noelle’s name and like the good, now broken, girl she is, she comes running and kills an enemy. And see above, Kris is likely fucking horrified both because of what Noelle’s become and what YOU have done.

And speaking of Undertale, dear lord, how has it been nearly three years and people are still acting like this is Undertale 2? Toby might be known for reusing some things (Megalovania, certain other melodies, characters), but he’s from the RPG era I’m from, where even if you reuse models and names, the characters, sounds or even themes can be the same and have it be totally different. Like this is the ear when the Lunar, Mother, and Breath of Fire series were the odd ones out. Where the Mana series/style led to literally YEARS of Secret of Evermore being considered someplace in there even though it’s a totally separate game with no ties. It’s not Undertale 2 so, and I’m going out on limb here, you’re not going to have a lot of the same things that were explained or put in in Undertale (monsters turn to dust, W.D. Gaster being a meta joke about dummied out characters, a simple genocide run, Humans being the special species with DETERMINATION). Hell the Hometown of Chapter 1 kinda points this out with how incredibky weird things are compared to Undertale. Undyne has both eyes, and doesn’t know who Alphys is, Bratty and Catty aren’t friends, hell they’re not your basic queen bee types, Mettaton never got his body, Asgore and Toriel aren’t together, but not because Asgore (intentionally, see the theory on December Holiday) killed kids, but because of something else.

In short on this portion, You are an edlritch entity controlling a troubled kid, who has the power to make his life better or fuck with everybody else in horrifying ways in a world that might have familiar faces, but is vastly different.

Now the second part. The December Holiday incident.

So Chapter 2 (and parts of Chapter 1′s Hometown section) brought to light something that might have really screwed up Kris, Toriel and Asgore’s marriage, The Holidays, and hell might even be the whole reason Kris is absolutely 100% able to be used by you (remember, you are an eldritch being who’s making these puppets, especially Kris, dance on your strings). It’s what I call the December Holiday Incident.

So we know that Noel has an older sister named Dess, and given some context, it’s probably short for December because of the Calendar in Noelle’s, “Algorythmically Generated” Room and the fact that she froze up on an easy word like December at the spelling bee, and her family’s theme naming (Rudolph, Noel-le). We also know that Kris, Noelle, Dess, and Azzy used to play together, and something happened.

My theory is that the Dreemur and Holiday kids were playing around that bunker or whatever it is down south, during the winter (becomes important with Noelle), and Dess went missing, like out of the blue missing. Asgore and everybody starts searching, because the cops really have nothing better to do, Winter turns to Spring (all the while Noelle is searching up to see if she’s turned up somewhere, because she searched December Holiday enough that Queen caught it), and it comes around, and Asgore gives up, either because he found Dess and there was evidence of Kris being involved, or He figured out where she went and likely had Noelle’s mom on his back to hide whatever it was, either way, he looks incompetent, and like he or somebody he knows may have just killed her, leading to his stepping down, Toriel can’t forgive this and divorces him and because it’s because of what happened for him to step down, she gets both Azzy and Kris. Any way it goes, there’s something about December Holiday, winter, her missing, that bunker thing and all of Asgore’s problem, as evidenced by Noelle and certain breadcrumbs about what happened. So no, Asgore probably didn’t kill a kid, but he may have, through intentional or unintentional negligence killed a kid and that’s why he’s where he is, why he’s treatin Rudy (his best friend) like a romantic partner, why Kris (before you et your little fingers in him) is probably a troubled kid, and why Noelle is so big on ice and has her moments of trauma.
