A villain will trigger a bomb using his fingerprint as a password

Well, the captain doesn't have time to think like the captain. He and some other league heroes were tied up, they couldn't do anything. But the villain was in the middle of his evil plan monologue… and he was dangerously close to marvel, pointing at him

He doesn't think like the captain, he thinks like a street rat who kicks, scratches and bites his way around

So he does it, he waits, and Flash can watch in slow motion as the cap lunges forward as far as his chains will allow, and in one fell swoop he chomps off 3 of the villain's fingers. One being necessary for the pump to start

There is blood, crying and high-pitched screams from the villain who falls to the ground, trying to get away from the marvel

The league is shocked, what the fuck? Whatthefuckwasthat?

And the villain faints on the ground when he sees his own blood gushing from the wound.

They are dead silent, all eyes on captain. This lasts a few minutes until Superman and Batman arrive to rescue, even though they're just waiting for someone to open the door and untie them because the danger is still passed out on the floor.

Just them when Marvel is free of the magic chain, he gestures from one of the evidence bags Batman carries and them he spat 3 fingers into it. And give it back. to Batman.

Watching it as an English dub with German subs in a 10 person tiny bar cinema where we were all just laughing for some time once it ended. All 6 of us just had this whatthefuckwasthat moment.

Book Review #30 of 2025--

Brutal Prince by Sophie Lark. Rating: 2 stars.

Read from April 27th to 29th.

This is technically my May pick for my challenge to read Romance books that are outside of my typical Romance subgenres. I read two single dad Romances for January and February. March's and April's picks were bodyguard Romances. For the month of May I chose a mafia Romance. And what pisses me off the most about this is that I was eating up that mafia stuff. Especially since I love Chicago, my husband's family is from Chicago. But the "romance" and the sex scenes made me almost throw up. Twice. And yes, literally. I would classify two of them as assault. Especially since these characters never discuss consent or draw any lines before these two sex scenes happened.

The author does too good of a job at the beginning of making these two hate each other for me to buy any of the middle or especially any of the end. These are two horrible people who do really horrible things to each other and somehow through sex they manage to get over it and fall in love. I don't buy it. I don't know if I somehow got an abridged version that's somehow missing 100 pages in the middle that makes this relationship make sense, but I do NOT get what the girlies are going crazy about with this one. I know in a lot of reviews I talk about how the Enemies to Lovers aren't really Enemies to Lovers because they never take it there. They never TRULY make them Enemies. But for this one they never have that transition. It goes straight from Enemies to being Lovers with nothing to cause that change. I need them to reluctantly realize they might respect the other person. Then to begrudgingly admit that the other person isn't as bad as they thought. Then to shockingly realize they might actually like the other person as a person. And this continues SLOWLY throughout the novel until one day they're smacked in the face with the realization that they love the person they once hated. This transition never existed and I couldn't buy their romance because of it.

Now, this part is going to get its own paragraph because WHATTHEFUCKWASTHAT. In this long paragraph I'm going to discuss some of the sex scenes in detail so please skip this paragraph if you're worried about spoilers or content. In the first sex scene, I guess it's supposed to be going for the kink of denying someone an orgasm but the method of doing it is something I truly consider to be coercion and therefore sexual assault. The female character is told that she basically won't have her orgasm from this encounter unless she does something he wants sexually. And considering they've never hooked up before, considering they've never had anything approaching a conversation about consent or boundaries in regards to sex, this is extremely disgusting to me. I know that these conversations don't happen because they're supposed to still be in the Enemies portion of the novel when this scene takes place. It's still so fucking gross to me. Then there's a scene closer to the middle of the novel where the main male character is super angry at the female character when they're having sex and he spanks her way too many fucking times which I found deeply upsetting. I know spanking is supposed to be something that some people are into, but with how angry he was in the scene and how painful she says it is, it just feels like he's taking out all of his anger on her physically which I don't think is okay. ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY STILL HAVEN'T TALKED ABOUT BOUNDARIES OR CONSENT OR ANYTHING AT THIS POINT.

So, what the hell kept me reading this novel? A) It's short. B) I needed an easy read over the past few days. C) I was actually SO interested in the mafia aspect of this story. It's set in my favorite U.S. city, my husband's family is from there, we have a general understanding of the political climate and the history of the mafia in Chicago. I think this book was actually a pretty good indicator of how I might do with other mafia Romances. I liked all of the political aspects of the story. I liked the rivalry between the two families. All of that. So I'm making a mental note to consider this subgenre in the future.

Overall, Sophie Lark is not for me. I think this was mostly smut with a plot and I don't think that was ever going to work for me. But this does give me some thoughts on where to take this romance subgenre experiment in the future.
