Learn to be comfortable with others showing you how they feel, and accept it for what it is instead of for what you want it to be. Your scope of other's emotions needs work -- there's a whole universe outside of your own mind. You gotta learn to consider others emotional needs and try to walk in the shoes of other people once in a while and you will see that not everything is not in relation, caused by, or about you. But oh, the Implications of Nibbly specifically addressing Steph. Nibbly’s domain is hunger in every sense. Holy FUCK I was not prepared for this.

As soon as I saw the trailer posted on Instagram, I grabbed my laptop and casted the trailer on the TV and stood in front of the TV like an old asian man; hands behind the back, spine bent, feet planted shoulder width apart.

Cannot believe it's finally here and I've got a lot of thoughts that I'm going to put under the cut because holy shit, this trailer hit me like a brick.

Why in Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel Stolitz seems to be the ONLY relationship with power imbalance that is not faring well?

Ozzie and Fizz - We don't even know if they have a romantic relationship, but they just work. They even can communicate with glances and both feel secure with their respective positions while openly showing they at least respect and at some point care for each other.

Charlie and Vaggie - The girls are very loving towards each other, Vaggie does her best wanting to support and protect her girlfriend and Charlie does her best to listen to Vaggie (even though she not always seems to do so) and let her feel she appreciates her.

And now Bee and Tex - They seem to be open with and trust each other, both being able to communicate properly when needed as they share interest in both partying and making sure the ones around them are ok.

Literally the only unbalanced relationship that that is as bad (in this case worst) than Stolitz are Valentino and Angel Dust, which doesn't count since we know they don't care for each other, it's just sex business. But like.... bruh.

Okay I'm skipping a few asks but I just want to get this done. I have seen this take go around since Queen Bee came out so I guess now is the time I give my two cents on it. In my humble opionion the short answer is trauma but long answer. Well let me cover all the other relationships you mention and tell you that it's far from a one to one comparison.

Bee and Tex, and Asmodeus and Fizz have the same very big thing to consider. That one is literally one of THE deadly sins, only Lucifer could rival there power and that's up for debate. Either way pratically noone can tell these guys what to do, who to date or how to feel. That is not a luxury Stolas and Blitz have. They have never had any protection from the system that is harmful to both of them, while Bee and Ozz are pratically above that system, and thus can protect their partners from it.

Charlie and Vaggie are a bit closer despite Charlie also being above the Goetias. But the one difference lies mainly in Charlie (We don't know much about Vaggie, sorry queen) Charlie, has left her toxic home life, she is still scarred from it, we know she is but she has left it and she is healing and trying her best. There aren't really any pressures weighing on them aside from the Hotel which is something they do together. Any problems they face are external to their relationship, not internal.

Stolas and Blitz on the other hand, man these two are pratically being crushed by the pressure on them.

Stolas is literally going through a divorce out of an abusive relationship while wanting to keep his daughter happy, AND fix his situation with Blitz which he was trying to do before, you know he was fucking kidnapped. So he's going through a divorce that is actively getting held back by the other side, managing parenting a child during that while also trying to fix his mistakes. Not to mention the truckload of trauma he must have from both Paimon and Stella.

Also let's be honest, noone fucking taught him how to manage a ACTUAL romantic relationship. He's like 36 and was locked in aforementioned abusive marriage for most of that. He's learning, and that's messy more often then not. Some first real partners are able to teach you and help you well enough, but Blitz has his own baggage, and he doesn't even recognize the relationship as anything other then sexual so he doesn't see the need even.

Blitz has, so many problems emotionally but also just, he doesn't recognize what he and Stolas have as a relationship. You cannot work on something you do not know is there after all. He has had awful expirience with love making him very closed off and filled with unhealthy coping mechanisms. Not to mention all the buisness that just, isn't related to Stolas.

You can have a lot going on but still have a relationship, but again, Blitz doesn't see it as one. He gets the book, that is all that he agknowledges that matters so far. Cause admitting that Stolas matters to him, that he wants him, that he wants to have a loving relationship with him specifically. Is terrifying to him.

Honestly I get the comparison on a surface level. Royal and lower class demon, I get the concept. But these are VERY different characters at the end of the day, so they are going to have different problems.

Blitz has had too many bad relationships, while Stolas has had none good, so these traumas and traits clash. I still ship them wholeheartedly, don't get me wrong but what I mean to say is that with the surrounding circumstances, there past experiences, these problems honestly make a lot of sense if you think about it specifically.

I Ship all these ships mind you, just throwing in my two cents as previously mentioned.

You shook your head, hearing a crash from the stage room. Did someone finally break in? “I’m… I’m okay… physically.” You said quietly, sighing and leaning forward, your head landing on his shoulder, and he didn’t hesitate before wrapping his arms around you, holding you tightly to his chest.

“And emotionally?” He asked, feeling you shake your head against him, your hands fisting in his jacket as you held him tightly.

“I’m not letting go, I won’t let go.” He softly reassured you, his hand rubbing your back as his heart seemed to lump in his throat, was this because of the mixtape?

“I’m okay…” you murmured, pulling back slowly, feeling his arms relax and letting you go, but he still looked at you with concern. “I promise Mike, just some memories.” His lips were in a tight line, but he nodded, deciding he wouldn’t press for more information.

“Okay, okay, I’ll tell Abby to be extra good for you tonight okay?” He smiled at your small laugh, “sleep in my bed tonight, I know the couch can’t be that comfortable.” You looked up to him with eyebrows furrowed.

“Please? You need rest as much as I do. Maybe even more.” You sighed and smiled, it was sweet how he cared for you, how he was trying to look out for you, like you always did for him.

Abby was always well behaved for you, but you noticed how she made sure to take extra care after Mike’s nightly call. “Thank you for dinner!” She grinned at you.

“Anything for you, firecracker.” You chuckled, ruffling her hair before the two of you began to wash the dishes.

You knew Abby would most likely tell Mike if you had slept on the couch again, she often tried to help you fold the blankets, or she’d just lay in your warm spot in an effort to lull herself back to sleep. His room was minimalistic, perfectly him, you thought. A simple dresser, the twin sized bed that he never upgraded, weights in one corner, an old style armoire.

You carefully laid down, sighing as the scent of his cologne and body wash seemed to engulf you, causing you to turn onto your stomach and bury your face into his pillow, sighing in content, it had to be a coincidence that he used the same cologne you knew for the better part of 5 years. You remembered the old brown teddy that rested on your bed, the scent from it long faded, but how Clapton had sprayed it down before giving it to you because he was going on a trip to Nebraska with his cousins. It was the last thing you thought of before drifting off.

This could go two different ways. One, he could be quite jealous when it comes relationships. He might be kind of insecure. Maybe constantly thinking that his partner might leave him for another at any given moment. He might have experienced this in the past. Two, he might not share a whole hell of a lot about himself. Like what he's feeling, what's worrying him. Things like that. That's something he needs to work on.

He might be getting into his head a little too much. He gets a little anxious when something in the relationship gets a little too serious. When the Clone Wars began, Sabé once again acted as Padmé’s decoy when Padmé was away from Coruscant conducting an investigation. There she learned Anakin and Padmé were married. However, to make sure Padmé didn’t have her closest confidant, Palpatine blasted Sabé’s brain with the Dark Side until she didn’t want to work closely with Padmé anymore. Sabé spent the rest of the war helping the White Suns.

After Padmé died, Sabé founded an organization known as the Amidalans- a rebel cell consisting of Naboo (including some of the other handmaidens), who sought to avenge Padmé. They attempted to assassinate Vader (who they deemed responsible) on multiple occasions. Sabé focused on deception, preventing to work with Vader to find Padmé’s killer and infiltrating Crimson Dawn.  until she figured out that Vader was Anakin. Remembering how Padmé’s last words (which had been recorded) was “There’s still good in [Anakin]”, she decided to actually become Vader’s operative. Her given reason was that the Empire and Vader did bring order to the galaxy, but it is just as likely she is following her queen’s last order to attempt to bring the man she loved back to the light. Gifted Kid SyndromeTM. Vernestra Rwoh is primarily a character in the middle grade High Republic novels (as appearing in the YA Out of the Shadows). She also talked Imri down from the Dark Side and became his new master, despite their similar ages. During the Attack on the Republic Fair, she joined Ram Jamoram and Lula Talisola, who both looked up to her, in restoring communications on the planet. Later, she and her Padawan investigated a gravity well generator the Nihil were working on. During that time, her hyperspace visions were reactivated by Mari San Tekka. She was with the old woman when she finally managed to die, denying the Nihil any new Paths. She gave Venrestra one final path.

Later, following visions of Avon being in danger, she and Imri found that the Nihil were kidnapping children to be made into recruits on the planet Dalna. By leading the Jedi of the Dalna temple to the camp, they were able to alert Starlight Beacon and evacuate the planet before it was geologically destabilized by the Nihil’s kyber crystal experiments. She was in the top part of Starlight Beacon when it was destroyed and participated in the group effort to hold it together. She presumably escaped.

As a prodigy, she had the maturity and serenity expected of a Jedi. Fear didn’t trouble her, but she struggled with self-doubt, wondering if she could really be a Jedi Knight and Master to someone the same age as her. She also understood not to let her friendship with Avon cause her to be more worried about her than the missing children on Dalna (commentary with how her being aroace doesn’t make her immune to attachment). She was also a terrible pilot. She has been confirmed to appear in Acolyte.

The penultimate season ahh!! Let’s get into it

I am once again asking why Regina and Emma are written so romantically and with such passion if they are “just friends”?! They be risking their lives for each other, parenting a son together, and we’re just supposed to believe there isn’t something more going on??? Damn you Disney! And the fact that Regina doesn’t get a romance at the end? Cruel!

-the Evil Queen is hot as fuck ok? Plus she has great fashion sense. I would HAPPILY enter a toxic relationship with her if she was my dom lol.

-the evil queen read Regina for filth when she said that Regina was trapped in a prison of her own self loathing. Give my girl healing and self love please! She has earned it numerous times over.

-oh man Gold’s abandonment/daddy/son issues are driving him to make some terrible choices with Belle and their son! He causes so much harm (trapping Belle on the Jolly Roger, placing a locater cuff on Belle) but truly believes it’s justifiable. Obviously he is real triggered about how he abandoned adult Neal and wants to do anything he can to prevent it from happening but damn dude. He got real abusive this season smh. The dysfunctional/broken family cycles continue!

-Gold needs better security for his shop man. I swear people let themselves in there at least once an episode 😭 I know that Emma is an expert lock picker or whatever but surely there is some kind of spell to keep people out his shit.

-Emma’s struggle with her destiny is so relatable and real. Knowing that an entire population is depending on you to succeed is a gigantic burden that she definitely didn’t ask for. And yet, despite her ambivalence, we see her succeed and step into her power. Yes there is loss yes it doesn’t go perfect but it goes! A good message for those of us afraid to accept the gifts and roles we have been given ❤️.

-Yeah so Fiona is a dastardly ass woman as well 😭 it doesn’t get much worse than stealing babies tbh. The actress really emulated emotionally abusive psychologically torturous mothers that’s for sure! I hate Rumple but damn he had it rough with the parent cards he was dealt 😫 at least he got to kill her himself? Although I must say I found her death scene to be pretty anticlimactic.

-The MUSICAL EPIOSDE?!?!?!!!!!!! Jennifer Morrison the soprano that you are. Honourable mention to Rebecca Madder as well I loved her song ‘Wicked Always Wins.’ It’s a shame it’s the wedding episode between Emma and Hook (we’re team #SwanQueen over here) but I had a blast watching, especially the last number and Emma’s theme. The music was always in her bitch!! AND NO ONE CAN EVER TAKE THAT AWAY FROM HER EVER!!!

Her husband dead, her son was usurped and murdered, her daughter, her granddaughter, her other son, and she and her two youngest children are hostages. Finally she got the allies they didn't have but that came at a high price. They win by her decisions and However, be sidelined and lose her political and personal agency.

So I talk about Rhaena, her relationship with Alyssa and Rhaena's perspective of her relationship with Alyssa both in TikTok (devoteeofwhimsy) and HERE on Tumblr. But I haven't really talked about Alyssa and her perspective in great detail. And this post won't either, bc I'm a bit too tired as of yet.

In short, I feel for her and wish I can be black and white about her for Rhaena's sake...but again, she went through it, had to consider her children's lives often above her own even when (one, guess who) they didn't consider her issues when it was needed. So basically, I just agree with you.

It is fascinating to juxtapose Rhaena v Visenya; Visenya, in supporting Maegor to usurp Rhaena's brother Aegon, had perpetuated and enacted much of the catastrophe Rhaena suffered. Visenya was also the one to suggest a marriage b/t her and Maegor so the dynasty itself doesn't split (thus we may think Rhaena would be safer) and have less chance of a later civil conflict but also to have Maegor that much closer to the throne. On the other hand, Aenys refused to name Rhaena, his eldest child, his heir to keep the peace with the Faith and greater Andal patriarchy in the mind to stabilize and ensure the Targ monarchy/Westerosi unity. And Rhaena---understandably--does not push for her own advance bco f these considerations, knowing her family wouldn't really go for it, and she herself felt she wouldn't be a good fit, practically, to be a Queen regnant/leader. So she supports her brother's claim over her own (before and when she's 18, she was very young)...she later sees how all this victimizes her and her kids so she becomes more determined to ensure her own safety & those she feels she can save through the Queen Dowager title AND that royal claim of the throne. Yet this woman also says to Jaehaerys, point blank, that she is the "Visenya" to Alysanne's "Rhaenys", after Elissa steals the dragon eggs.

She resents Alyssa for not putting as much effort into saving her or at least Aerea when she first runs away with Alysanne & Jaehaerys or try to bring up an army for her/Aerea and save their other brother Viserys from Maegor's torture. Is this unfair bc Alyssa had to save the kids she had access to, yes...but:

we have to remember that Rhaena had been very likely raped by Maegor after she became his "Black Bride" and multiple times and idk if people know but this plus that systematic misogyny understanding can tend make people angry and emotionally isolated or more self-concerned....bc they are pushed into the survivial corner

Alyssa did not just marry Rogar for the political benefits; he became her blindspot after he helped her and her kids that she didn't see the ambitiousness that he had (no matter how many times Gyldayn tries to make him seem "not that bad", remember this is written by a man from an anti-Targ, anti-female ruler institution and Rogar's problem was that he didn't have as much influence and power as his wife[when he certainly still had power, he just wanted more] so ofc Gyladyn would try to reduce Rogar's actions and his accountability to "he just wanted to help the realm") bc she felt he could ensure emotional security and "love" along with that political security...Rhaena probably resented that they (Alyssa and Jaehaerys) both valued his words and support over her own precisely because he, not her, provided much of that military force

Which is why I think she was slowly realizing her own wrongs towards Alyssa when we see she tried to rush to her bedside and talk to her before she died of childbirth, too late.

Anyway, this was about Alyssa. She and Aenys, the text states, seemed to be a good match because both reportedly searched for not just casual love but the approval/validation of their leadership through the traditional Andal eye. However, for Alyssa, as a woman, yeah much of her power and agency comes form how much men around her allows her to practice. We see this in how Rogar tried to insult and dismiss her at that final council when he demanded they all replace Jaehaerys with Aerea or Rhaella, and it is only by the Kingsguard and every other man at that table defending her (for Jaehaerys) that Rogar's rebuffed

A lifetime of witnessing men will defend your interests when it still ends up for the interests or elevation of another man will of course engender women with such blind spots that I truly believe every Targ woman had in same way or another, in different ways, that also came along with their genuine love for their male relatives. And she didn't even have a dragon or grow up with one to at least have that Andal-less mental connection and psychological escapism that that we see helps Targ women put thing into perspective and/or take more courage...we see how it helped Dany's sense of self; how it helped this Rhaena; how to spiritually and physically enabled Nettles' both near-death but also deification/escape from violence, etc. Dany & Nettles is a special example are special examples because they always had that je-nais-se-quois spark, but their dragon connections and constant affirming of boundaries and bonds the right way also worked to strengthen them. Dragons didn't totally protect some of these women from their material dangers or their family's sidelining...but it did prodive them something that was "just theirs"...not their children, not their husband, not their parents...just theirs alone. Something that materializes the strength they wanted and saw they could have. Alyssa didn't have that. Alyssa was stuck between a rock and hard place with little wiggle room. At the same time she wasn't suspicious enough as Rhaena was when Rogar was not on to this who went out to help out Aegon when he went to confront Maegor....despite this being the same dude who the text says wanted to come 1v1 against Maegor and "never got the chance to"

Alyssa, like Rhaena, Visenya, was fallible and a victim. Who maybe some, certain HotD fans, will probably try to pose as this Virgin Mary/Eve/Madonna figure against Rhaena's Jezebel/Lilltih/Slut if HBO ever adapts this period of time and even removes Alyssa's own thirst for revenge...which they probably would with the wrong producer-writer. Even though Rhaena was more than likely sexually and romantically attracted to women. Because Alyssa is much less assertive, vocal, or willing to confront grown men with what she really feels than other women around her.

Even though there's this gem of a "tease" Alyssa made to Maegor when Rhaena bonded with a dragon before he could, this also could have been her feeling safe to do so

Luciya’s pov

Blinking my eyes my vision was blurred in front of me while I moaned, feeling pain from many areas of my body.  Rubbing my eyes I finally raised my head upward and began looking around the area before me.  The building I had crashed into with Shireen was completely destroyed and now just an enormous pile of rubble.  

Shireen made a shrieking voice causing me to turn my head sharply and see her laying on the ground a few feet away from me.  Pushing myself up to stand I rushed over touching the side of her nose seeing her eyes come down to meet mine. “Ohh I’m sorry this happened to you, girl.” She whimpered and I noticed that her right wing was slightly torn from the crash before she laid her head back down on the dirt ground while I kept my hand against her scails. 

“Luciya!” Whipping my head around I recognize my mothers voice coming through the distant crowd of smoke. 

I cupped my hands around my mouth and shouted back to her.  “Mom! Mom, mom!”

“Luciya!” My father’s tone came shortly after my call. The familiar blonde and white hair that belonged to both of my parents ran as quickly as they physically could until I was tackled in a bear hug with both of them hugging me.  Burying my face in my father’s chest I sobbed uncontrollably thinking that something bad had happened to either of them.  My mother kissed the crown of my head and I could tell she was utterly relieved that I was still standing before her alive. 

I broke the embrace rubbing the stray tears from my eyes seeing someone else coming towards us.  “Rhae - Rhaegar?” I gasped watching my twin brother bolting directly at me and completely tackling me on my back and into the dirty ground. 

“I - thought- you - were- dead.” He sobbed into my hair with each of us clutching onto the other for strength, needing to believe we were physically here and it wasn’t all a dream. 

The words came out in a croaking manner, figuring he was blaming himself for me getting injured.  “It wasn’t your fault.  You need to remember that, brother.  It wasn’t your fault.” 

“I love you, Luciya.” He sniffed through some tears wiping away tears once we had broken the hug. 

I nodded, keeping our hands intertwined together with his own.  “I love you too, little brother.” 

Vaella’s pov

Watching my two oldest children embrace in a high fit of tears and relief that the other wasn’t harmed made more tears fall down my face.  I had already wiped away the heavy amount of tears after I was relieved that she wasn’t dead.  Jaime touched my lower back drawing me from the trance that I was currently in.  “Vaella, are you okay?” 

“Yeah. Um - yeah.  I’m just emotionally relieved they are both unharmed.” I slightly turned my head and attention to my lord husband. 

Jaime raised his hand from my back to cradle the side of my face in his palm.  “What do you think we will have to do now?  My sister is gone and the throne is up to grabs for anyone.” 

“It’s down to me, Jon or my sister.  All three dragons fighting for the throne made of swords.” I declared up to my husband simply.  

A different dragon's roar came down from the skies with the large dragon landing away from us.  I noticed that it was one of my lords rushing over to us before he lowered himself down on one knee.  “My Queen.” 

“What are the current circumstances, Tymber?” I questioned the Valyrian lord before me and Jaime. 

Lord Barlaeries raised his head slightly responding to me. “The fleets and dragons have surrounded the secured gates of the castle, your grace.  Once we open the gates we can distribute the food that you have brought to the outer docs.  What else would you like us to do, my queen?” 

“Gather my sister, Jon and the other leaders into the throne room.  We shall all address the smallfolk when we deliver them food.” 

Lord Tymber raised a brow. “How will we decide who seats the throne, Queen Vaella?” 

“That answer will come in due time.  The smallfolk of the realm come first.” 

He rose from a knee bowing his head and running to fly off on his dragon. “Yes, my queen.” 

The four of us had flown over to the Red Keep where our dragons were left outside but in the entrance of the gate walls.  Jaime and I looped our arms together with our twin children following behind our heels.  I truly did miss Rihana and Chandler but I was right to make them remain at Winterfell with Sansa.  She would treat them fair. I know she would.  They would be able to come back to their family shortly once we got the public of this city settled.  The realm and who seats the Iron Throne must come later. 

We moved throughout the castle having to be careful to avoid the fallen rubble from my eldest son’s slightly destructive tantrum.  The Red Keep would certainly need some cleaning and renovation to become what it once greatly was.  

Rubbing my freehand underneath my nose and my watery eyes I sniffed through some fallen tears that had slipped out when I faintly recognized the horrible smell of wildfire.  The caches of wildfire that had been lightened by dragon fire.  The smell of burnt stone and flesh all coming back to the forefront of my mind, my fathers memory still haunting me ever so slightly. 

That is one thing for certain that must be changed with whoever seats the famous throne.  The memory of fire and death needed to be removed from this world and the rulers of the realm.  We needed peace if the realm was to survive. 

We paused outside and the large double doors were slowly opened by two of my sister's men who stepped away shortly after when we began walking forward.  “I present to you the long lost Princess Vaella of House Targaryen.  Daughter of Aerys II and Rhaella Targaryen.” Ser Waters of House Velaryon declared to the room full of smallfolk, Valyria lords, Northern lords and my sister's army of former slaves. 

“My sister has been removed from the throne.  She is no longer your Queen.  We have someone still with us that I believe was always meant to have the role as your ruler.  And that person is my lady wife Vaella Targaryen.” Jaime squeezed my hand intertwined with his eyeing everyone in the large room.  He shifted his head down where his green eyes met mine. “You've got this, princess Vae.” 

Dropping my hand from his I heavily sucked in a breath before releasing a sigh stepping up front and center to the large crowd of smallfolk and some of the soldiers I had taught beside during the Night King battle.  “Hi there - um I'm sorry I'm very nervous.  It's been quite awhile since I've been presented into a room as Princess Vaella.  It’s been over twenty years since my father, who is most known only as The Mad King, has been removed from that throne.  Very few of you likely even know who I am after Robert Baratheon’s Rebellion, know who my brothers Rhaegar or Viserys or even my sister Daenerys were before House Targaryen fell from power.  That is something very upsetting to me but it also gives me and my sister a chance to change how people remember our house and our dragons.  I don’t want to keep us on the same wheel of power we have been on.  I want to move forward and turn the page in the Seven Kingdoms if you’ll allow us to do so.” 

“Are you saying we will be having two Queens rule?” A woman looking to be Sansa’s age spoke up first that was standing the closest to me. 

Clasping my hands together in front of me I clicked my tongue.  “That is not something I can answer at this time.  I can tell you this that I will not force any of you to bend the knee and simply accept me or my sister as the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.  The decision will be up to you and the other lords and ladies of Westeros.” 

“Why did you give us food?  How did you know they would close the gates and basically leave us to our own defenses?” An elderly man raised his hand in the air asking me another question. 

Locking my gaze with the man I sent him a half smile responding back.  “I brought you food to make sure that you survived this war and to know that I hadn’t abandoned you.  Sansa Stark told me that Cersei Lannister didn’t care about any of you at all.  She only ever made you fear her, not have love or respect towards her.” 

“Lady Vaella, I suggest that we gather the remaining lords and ladies to discuss our next steps for the Seven Kingdoms.”  Tyrion cleared his throat causing everyone in the crowd around him to take some steps backwards so we could all see him. 

Tucking a few strands of my hair that had fallen out of my braid I nodded in agreement.  “I agree with your words, Lord Hand.  Enjoy the food we’ve given you and we will come seek your comments later on.  This transition will be hard and long but we will all make it through this.” My sister, her friend and Tyrion were the first to make their way out of the double doors.  Jaime takes a step up to me holding out his right forearm.  Looping my arm through his we met the others' gaze nodding in unison finally being the last two to leave the throne room.

The (possible) Lenorefication of Annabel Lee

Okay, I've reached the end of the available non-paywall chapters of Nevermore, and I think this is where Annabel's "Lenorefication" arc begins.

An important part of her plan is for the rest of the students not to see Lenore as a threat to be reckoned with. But even if they bought the "let her slide" thing, it's clear to everyone that Lenore IS a problem: maybe not because of herself, but because she has a group of people who are willing to defend her tooth and nail to the end.

This means that Annbel has to adjust her plans.

I suspect that the reason for the split plot (Duke's rescue on the one hand, and whatever Montressor does on the other) is so that they both have to choose what to care about: Lenore will obviously prioritize her friend's safety when she returns from her meeting with the Deans, so Annabel will have to deal with Montresor. A situation that suits her perfectly, as she needs to win back her pawns (Prospero has doubted her leadership and Ada has run into Montresor's arms) and secure Morella's trust.

Well, here's the thing.

In the scene where she confronts Ada, you can see for a second that Annabel really feels pity for her. Possibly because she can see all the complexes and insecurities that Ada is exposing, some of which she has herself (let's not forget that Annabel's Specter is also related to betrayal of love).

And if Ada says something like that to her, I don't think she takes it very well.

Then we have this scene. Personally, I think it's irrelevant whether Annabel pretends to be empathetic or not, the point is that she knows how Prospero feels because she's lived it: the fear of being considered a madwoman has been a heavy burden in her life.

In addition, we have Morella. Annabel knows that the girl will want to save Ada, and after what has happened, she may be the only ally she has in helping Ada. Besides, Morella has a personal score to settle with Montresor, but she needs someone she trusts to do it. And with Lenore on her own rescue mission, there's Annabel to be the guide she needs.

These are all situations that, like it or not, are going to require emotional involvement on Annabel's part: she's already shown these people that she's a queen capable of leading them to victory, but now she has to be a queen capable of protecting them all.

And let's not forget what happened the last time Annabel took care of a vulnerable person and allowed herself to open up emotionally. Hell, even Lenore points out that she's "warmer" now.

Lenore and Annabel have completely opposite ways of playing this "game," but now that things are getting complicated, I think they're going to start taking notes from each other: Annabel's going to have to learn to value her pawns a little bit if she doesn't want to lose them, and I doubt Lenore can continue to solve everything by being half-dead and confronting every authority figure that comes her way.
