soooooo uh. there's a lot to say about this, me and my pal @artisticwizard have thought up a like entire dlc-like story line. boy separation, boys reunition, the pokemon popularity poll canonized (in a way), etc.

i have more sketches lined up (hopefully) so ill explain more in detail about the au later. for now i'll explain the premise/start of the au below.

In this AU, the twins have been slotted into the premise/plot of GGG as a pair of additional gods.

Ingo and Emmet are the twin gods of transportation: arrival and departure, the destination and the origin, etc. They run a shared two-way train through the towns of the Grove, from BuzzHuzz to the Grove Cove.

Their god room entrances are in the two engine cars located at the opposite sides of the train, yet they share a god space from ascending together.

Additionally, their engine cars can only move forwards; Ingo can only move towards the Spire while Emmet can only move towards the docks. They rely on one another to pull the train back and forth in tandem.

One day, a letter arrives from King that suggests though they've always move together, haven't they always wondered who's the better god between them? Who can pull the most weight, who can run the fastest, who is the most popular between the two? Clearly one of them has to be the best god of transportation.

Ingo and Emmet, who love competition and challenges, had already exhausted most physical comparisons (with most ending in a tie). Popularity is new territory though. Sounds fun, so why not?

Ingo and Emmet host a contest poll for who's everyone's favorite god between them (only between them, because they'd be grossly outpaced by other gods like Inspekta), which is kind of Splatoon Splatfest-like in festivity. The mood starts off great, and the Bizzyboys are a great help with decorating and hyping up the contest.

Maybe a little too good. Over the course of the event, some people start getting a little too hyper and competitive. The poll is now no longer fun for the weird groupies/chronically online sub groups, and they're quickly ruining everyone else's experience. Eventually it gets wayyy too serious. The twins fail to notice how bad it's getting.

Eventually Ingo is announced the winner. Both twins are happy with the results; it's Emmet's groupies who aren't. Harassment between groupies escalates to the point that one day, while the train is waiting to depart from BuzzHuzz's station, someone goes and decouples Ingo's engine car from the train cars.

When it's time to depart to the Grove Cove, the train, unknowingly, leaves him behind.

Now Ingo and Emmet are separated on the two furthest ends of their tracks, unable to reverse and reconnect their cars. They remain that way for what seems like an eternity...

...Until one day, a new Godpoke arrives.

Actually mental illnesses are still mental illnesses! No matter how you treat the mentally ill person sometimes they will still show symptoms of being mentally ill because they are mentally ill! Yes even children!

I swear the minute it's about parents or children all the ~uwu take care of yourself~ acceptance crowd on Tumblr instantly reverts back to ableism and cultural Christianity - because obviously children are perfect and pure beings who are only misbehaving because the adults around them, especially their parents, aren't ~doing it right~ aren't ~trying hard enough~ actually mental illness just comes from parent fuck-ups ~obviously~. So any parent that isn't perfect 24/7 is bad and any kid is perfect until an adult messes them up. And yall haven't even unpacked your attitudes enough to realize that's the logical conclusion of these "well I work with kids and I just listen to them and everything goes perfect" posts and never fuckin reblog my angry posts where I try to point it out and I am absolutely fucking exhausted yall are exhausting. Sometimes, for parents with mental illnesses, the mental illness mental illnesses! Sometimes, for kids with mental illnesses, the mental illness mental illnesses! If your premise is "the only problem with kids is how the adults around them treat them" you are completely disconnected from reality.

I've always thought their ship was kinda weird.

my little brother is only two years younger than me, but with the way our birthdays fall, he was three years behind me in school. so when i was a senior, my brother was a freshman. (for anyone not american: when i was 17, he was 15, but the age gaps between a freshman and a senior are usually a little larger and developmentally, it's a big deal.) we were both in band together and both pretty well known pretty fast. which meant that other freshman felt comfortable to go up to me and talk despite me being a senior (which was fine, because i was a section leader and i wanted all freshman to feel comfy enough to ask me questions and talk). and sometimes, that conversation would be about my little brother, asking if he was in a relationship and blah blah blah. THAT was adorable to me (with context, my brother was a little shit in middle school but when he got to highschool he suddenly decided he wanted to be a downright gentleman and got super embarrassed by this so i often teased him LMFAOO)

however. there was ONE person in my grade (that i was close friends with!!) that said "if your brother was a senior too, I'd date him"

shit was NOT CUTE. i was flabbergasted. i was appalled, even. even as an innocent comment, it freaked me out and i went full big sibling mode. tore that person a new one because that's literally my baby brother what the hell are you talking about????

now imagine that the age gap is even larger? nah, if it was my little brother the person would be DEAD. even if we were close friends before then. which is why im confused why the Jayroy ship is as popular or accepted as it is... like i know the batman fandom are fucking weirdos (looking at batcest shippers you fucking freaks i hope you feel embarrassed and shamed) but this ship slipped through the cracks i think and not everyone is aware of that age gap or why it's weird. at most i've seen people comment about dick being like "you're dating my little brother??" but not like. in the way of "hey what the fuck that age gap is fucking weird" and instead as "you can't date my family!!" ummmmmmmmm

During a Skyclan patrol which comes across badger 1 and then badger 2, Leafstar accidentally gets Kitescratch killed by badger 2 when she is distracted by a 3rd badger, who turns out to actually be Kitescratch's six month old child that she mistook for a badger because of her poor vision. This leads to Kite, who has already been mauled once in this fight, to get absolutely destroyed in front of his young child.

During his vigil Leafstar falls asleep which is the point where Reedclaw, Kite's mother, decides to petition for Leaf to be replaced.

I HAVE to reserve judgement, I HAVE to see the actual book first before I have an ultimate conclusion on this. Because on its face this is. Wow.

That's the equivalent of mixing up a 13 year old and a bear. That's beyond bad eyesight, that's active dementia. I don't think that's what the writing team wanted it to come across as, but she would be an active danger to herself and others on a quest.

I'm with Reedclaw on this one, removing Leafstar from power after that was a reasonable response even before falling asleep during the vigil.

Another thing that makes kaladin so painfully relatable is how much his mental illness hides his personality, because between depressive episodes and trauma he's this sarcastic little shit that smiles a lot at his friends and then the depression gets to him and all that disappears

watching people discover the fucked up science guy part of viktor's lore and then being like "we need to acknowledge that he's a fucked up science guy 😔" is so funny. like yeah, he is a fucked up science guy who thinks ethics committees are bullshit because in his mind having rights temporarily violated is perfectly fine if it means saving lives—especially when the ones condemning his beliefs don't offer what they consider to be an ethical alternative to fix the problem and simply let it continue to exist.

and yeah, he's a fucked up science guy who experimented on himself following a, quote: traumatic period of introspection. he had a mental breakdown, fell into a major depressive episode, and spending this horrible time of his life "alone in the depths" reinforced and radicalized his previous beliefs, and to showcase his beliefs (and to try and get rid of his emotions because of how overwhelming they were) he turned himself into a cyborg (and did in fact make himself worse in certain ways but ehh who cares /j).

and yeah, he's a fucked up science guy who gave a kid back alley anti anxiety meds so he could face down his bullies, but he did so after making him a cozy beverage, teaching him about the dangers of propaganda and baseless rumors, and having him scream into a megaphone to freak out said bullies because it was funny (not that he'd admit to finding it funny because then he'd have to admit to having emotions, and well he can't do that, no sir).

so yes, viktor is a fucked up science guy, but that's half his charm! he cares so much about helping people, but he's a weirdo and freak about it! though to be fair, in the city that also has a chemically enhanced werewolf (warwick), a sentient blob of goo (zac), a wind and water goddess (janna), and a literal war criminal who invented chemical warfare (singed), among many other wacky individuals, he's pretty normal all things considered! fucked up science is just a part of life in zaun, my dudes!

the urge to paint all creatives as mentally ill is so bad and a lot of people know this but I don't think people fully grasp why. I see a lot of people talk about how it's stereotyping both artists and mentally ill people, which is true. I also see discussion of how it promotes invasive questions and theorizing about people you don't know, which is also true. but I think it's important to mention the other aspect:

if you ARE mentally ill and a creator, especially of dark or disturbing content, messages everywhere are blaring that you are this way because you are sick. if you weren't sick, you wouldn't be this way. if you get better, you won't be this way. this creates a loop where either mentally ill creators getting better and still creating will be disbelieved by anyone around them who touts that nonsense, which is really frustrating, or mentally ill creators worry that if they get better, they won't be able to create anymore. this isn't a hypothetical---I've seen at least a dozen people express this worry and experienced it myself. telling mentally ill people, who very well may have their creations as something incredibly important to them, that they will lose the ability to create if they heal is fucked up. telling them that that part of them comes from their mental illness, not the creativity and skills they've honed, is fucked up.

mental illness can influence art. a lot of what I make is influenced by my own mental illness. but mental illness does not make you an artist and healing does not stop you from making art. including dark or disturbing art. you are the artist. your mental illness is not.
