Woke up with immense feelings about SQ, and a... vision of a theoretical scene in Season 2, if he'd actually been there

Okay, so, Curtain is doing some incredibly inadvisable stupid thing as a panic reaction to the compound being infiltrated (Shocking, I know /s) and the kids basically grab SQ and abduct him for a minute to ask some questions and figure out what to do.

(This is a hypothetical situation where Constance isn't whammied and the children all arrive together and of sound mind)

However, SQ is incredibly and inordinately terrified. Following every direction or light suggestion like they have a gun to his head.

They try and sort out what's going on, if he knows anything about Curtain's plan, where the adults are (They got separated), if he's okay, when the kid breaks down crying.

Now, they were slightly concerned because he seemed oddly scared of a group of kids he's at least tangentially met all of before and who are several years younger than him, and he kept cringing like he expected to be hit or screamed at.

At this point we find out the Curtain has swept and fiddled around with SQ's brain enough that he has no memory of the Institute and thinks he's just been living at the compound with his dad his whole life. And as such he's been indoctrinated that everyone from Outside is cruel and awful, and he really is scared out of his mind that the kids are going to hurt him

And now for something completely different.

This is the ADHD Teapot. I made it in a ceramics class a few years ago. I use it to explain executive dysfunction to people who haven’t come across the term before (and those who think of ADHD mostly as Hyperactive Eight Year Old Boy Syndrome).

So, most people’s brains are like a regular shaped teapot with a single spout. Let’s say that your time, energy, focus etc is the liquid you have in the teapot. Your executive function is the spout, that directs the tea into the specific cup you want to fill-aka the task that you’re meant to be doing. Spills happen occasionally, but generally most of the tea goes in the right cup.

If you have executive dysfunction, (a symptom of ADHD, trauma, autism, schizophrenia etc.) you have multiple spouts going in different directions. You can try pointing one of them at your chosen cup and you will probably get some liquid in there, perhaps you will even fill it right up (finish the task). But meanwhile, tea is also pouring out of several other places and not going where you want it. If you have another container nearby, perhaps some of it will end up in there. But quite a lot of it is going to end up on the floor and accomplish nothing.

And at the end of the day you’ll have filled one or two cups ( or sometimes not even one) compared to the five or six that somebody with the same sized teapot (but only one spout) has filled, and everyone wonders why you’re so bad at getting tea poured, and why you make such a mess in the process.

One day I’d like to spend more time learning pottery and create a really technically good fucked up little adhd teapot. But that’s a long way off since i currently live in the outback and the nearest pottery workshop is some 400km away. But I figure that for now, it might be a useful or interesting metaphor to somebody even in its rough draft form.

This post is the cup I filled instead of cleaning my house btw.

i'm losing my fucking mind. a damn near perfect file in simcity 3000 was chugging along just fine and suddenly everything broke. tax income dropped by like 90%. i was getting warnings about low land value despite them being at their highest nearly across the entire city. baffled, i made a backup save and then let it continue for a bit and. i literally got fucking fired. i lost. i didn't even know you could lose simcity. and again, everything was still just as meticulously perfect as autism/adhd hyperfocus could make it (very).

I don't think I realized how funny Cobra Bubbles' line "It won't be easy to explain this back at headquarters" is until I remembered that he's former CIA. He's going back to the Department of Child Services and will have to explain that aliens exist and that keeping this family together is now a matter of planetary security. As a trans man, I've been followed into the men's bathroom. I've had coworkers stalk me in the bathroom and report back to my manager. I've been harassed in men's bathrooms. I've been harassed in women's bathrooms (before I came out). I've almost been assaulted in public bathrooms.

"Men's bathrooms aren't policed like women's bathrooms" is straight up a fucking lie. Using the bathroom as a PASSING trans man is unsafe. Can't piss standing up? Ever heard a cis man loudly comment about you pissing sitting down in a public restroom?

Again, bathroom bills may SEEM targeted, but it hurts us all. Trying to force trans men into women's bathrooms, to cut them off from men's restrooms- it does a lot of the same shit it does to trans women.

Except now no one wants to consider this. At most even other trans guys will make the joke "oh so you want a big hairy buff trans man going to the women's shitter?" No. Actually. They WANT more of a reason to beat me into the tile floor. These laws are used to make that easy to sweep under the rug.

Was looking at refs and since Viktor has two different leg braces I was wondering, do we think he wears them simultaneously?? The refs don't perfectly line up perspective-wise so it's hard to tell but parts of the one he wears during the Hexcore scenes look like they could maybe line up with the brace that he wears over his clothes, but also some parts really don't and look like they'd be super uncomfy. Also HOW does he take these on and off. Experts weigh in

One of the things I loved about The Wild Robot from a writing/world-building perspective was that it was clearly set in a post-apocalyptic world, but the details were very vague, and you don't even know until about an hour in:

"Beautiful shot," you think, and then it hits you that the whales are swimming over the Golden Gate Bridge.

Abandoned, crumbling satellites and a sunken city. And then when we do see the human city, they freak out at the sight of geese:

Animal-derived plague? Global warming? We don't know. We only know that something has happened. But like the general theme, whatever bad has occurred, the natural world is thriving. An unexpected positive from a history of tragedy.
