The biting insects were attacking me, but there is a steady breeze so I was able to turn off the air conditioning and open the windows. It's kind of like being outside. Writing by hand with some wine. My goal is to complete a short fill so that I can refocus on longer works tomorrow.

Writing house.
Author Michael Pollan built his own little house to write in.
Just add a tiny bathroom, a place to cook, and a small Ben Franklin wood stove, and I'd spend hours, if not days, there.

My writing haven
I wasn't tagged but really wanted to do it anyway and @rivenantiqnerd said open tag so thank you for sharing this fun little exercise.
Rules: describe your ideal writing setup/location using just words and no pictures.
I kinda went over board...
🍂📚✨🍁📜🕯️🍂📚✨🍁📜🕯️🍂📚✨🍁📜🕯️🍂📚✨🍁📜🕯️
In my ideal writing space, old meets modern functionality, creating the perfect sanctuary for creativity. At the heart of the room stands an old mahogany writing desk, its six drawers filled with highlighers, pens and other little things.
Sitting cross-legged on a comfortable green velvet chair, my legs tucked beneath me as I settle in for hours of uninterrupted writing. Next to the desk is a bronze lamp that casts a soft yellow glow, bathing the room in a warm and inviting light that provides light but doesn't hurt my eyes.
A reliable printer sits within reach, ready to bring my words to life on crisp, white paper. Next to it, a sleek monitor awaits connection to my laptop, offering a larger canvas for my thoughts to unfold. My laptop, a portal to endless possibilities, rests on the desk, ever ready to capture the flow of inspiration.
Sitting on my desk are old, beloved books by Mary Shelley, Louisa May Alcott, and Jane Austen, their pages worn and yellowed from years of admiration. Leather notebooks and metal pens lie in neat stacks, waiting to be filled with ideas, notes, and sketches. Above the desk, a moodboard hangs on the wall, a vibrant collage of images and words that fuel my current work-in-progress.
A big cup of chai sits beside me, its spicy aroma mingling with my favourite cherry lip balm. My noise-canceling headphones rest on my head ready to envelop me in a cocoon of silence or play Taylor Swift whenever needed.
In the corner of the room, for Barbara, is a cozy little cat bed. It’s nestled beside a ceramic water bowl, ensuring my feline friend stays hydrated while keeping me company. Along with a cat tree with a built-in scratcher, providing the perfect perch for my cat to survey the room or indulge in a playful moment. As I can't have a writing space without my Little writing buddy.
Through a nearby window, I can gaze out at a serene garden, where roses and peonies bloom in a riot of colors. The sight of these beautiful flowers, swaying gently in the breeze, brings a sense of peace and inspiration to my writing haven. This space, a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern convenience.

Build Your Writing Haven Tag
Thanks to my lovely @kaylinalexanderbooks for the tag!
Rules: describe your ideal writing space!
Oh this’ll be fun….
Every book or source I could ever need would be in reach (let’s be honest, just have me seated in the Main Reading Room of the Library of Congress lol).
I need a comfy chair with arm rests. Not a rolling chair, though.
Coffee and dark chocolate needs to be in reach.
A large desk with enough space for my laptop, monitor, and any book I’m consulting to fit comfortably in front of me.
I prefer bright lighting, but also why not have fun with it and have some colorful neon lights around.
I’d love one of those massive rolling map conveyers high up on the wall beside me. So if I needed to look at a large-print historic or contemporary map it’s just right there and I could write on it.
Easy access to a phone charger, my headphones (so I can block the world out and listen to a playlist), and of course my headphones’ charger.
A soft carpet under my feet.
Softly tagging: @sunset-a-story @thestarsfightagainstusmyfriend @nerenight @meerawrites @queerfox-tales and leaving this open for anyone else who wants to play.

If I had all the money in the world, and also knew a woodworker with the appropriate skills that I could commission, I would design a wooden lapdesk briefcase, where the lid could sit open propped up at an angle as a writing desk, and would also hold pens and my journals, and a bluetooth keyboard and my tablet. It would have a handle, and also loops on the sides for a strap so I could sling it over my shoulder.

Writing Haven Tag
I saw @leahnardo-da-veggie post this Build your writing haven tag! and I had to jump on the open tag here. The rules are, without using any images, describe your ideal place to write.
To be frank though, it's just my ideal bedroom:
I would love to write by mosquito-less bodies of running water with ducks or fish in them. I'd try to feed them sometimes. I'd want a quiet roar when it thundered and rained. And I'd want purple wisteria and the dappled shade of trees out my window in summer and in the winter, long icicles and dreamy white snow. I'd want my springs to be a rainy Seattle winter and my autumns to be bright with crimson leaves that looked like flames in the sunset.
My walls would be full of dried or silk plants (because I'm not responsible enough to keep real ones alive) and sketches and diagrams and maps from around my fantasy world. But in addition to this vaguely-Dark Academia aesthetic, there would be kawaii plushies and bunny-themed cups to make bubble tea. I'd want my keyboard to be like a typewriter keyboard and make those satisfying punchy clicks BUT ALSO it'd just be attached to a normal computer -- though its screen could stand to be framed with an ornate frame. The seats would all tilt my knees ergonomically beneath my hips to improve my posture while enabling me to sit cross-legged. Desk would be close to the floor so I could lie down whenever I wanted.
Architecturally, I'd want the room itself to be a mix between Traditional East Asian and Cottage-core-Western styles. And mostly jeweltones and dark woods BUT with those pops of purple from the flowers and plushies. Bonus points if all the lights look like hanging orbs of some kind with elaborate, iron-wrought hangers. And the floor would need both hard room and deeply cushioned sections. The bathroom would have lavender-flavored soap shaped like cat skulls and ethically-sourced crow bones mounted in the silk-vines on the walls.
And lastly and most importantly, the room needs a bath that is separate from the shower so I can sit in the tub and write on my phone :D
That's my dream bedroom/office... But now I'm going to cheat and use an image under the cut cuz SURPRISE, that's my Vtubing Background, so naturally, I depicted something like my dream for that XDDDD

My writing routine has been non-existent lately, and I have a stack of things with deadlines, so I'm endeavoring to be more disciplined. I'm trying for two sessions a day, one before work and one in the evening, consisting of two 45-minute sprints each. I'll be documenting my writing sessions, so if you don't want to see those, please block the tag "writing session"!
Tonight I managed about 650 words!

Getting started
@disneyismyworldforever is my personal blog. This blog I started 13 years ago and inspired me to create my author blog for my ENG 421 class I am taking this semester. I know Tumblr since I've used it for years now and I am excited to share with you that I am becoming an author.
I plan to write YA Fantasy Fiction with my current book I'm working on “The Suspicious Six” which I plan on making a series. In my next post I will share the Synopsis and Chapter one.
Before I continue, I would like to say please do not steal my content. I've been working very hard on my first book and I really would love to publish it without dealing with other authors taking credit for my work.
I also plan on writing nonfiction books. They will be self-help books on subjects like death, grief, ADHD, adoption, and experiences I myself as an author have experience.
Therefore, I will call myself a multi-genre writer.

Gratitude Journal Entry (7/3/24)
Tumblr media
Today I'm Grateful For:
*I enjoyed the 'Finest Hours' so much that I got it on DVD, and it was delivered today, 5 days earlier than expected!
*While at lunch, my mom and I got my brother's birthday cake ordered. We're not a family who does birthday cakes, but in honor of my 30th birthday I decided I wanted my own (a personalized carrot cake with cream cheese frosting) and my brother mentioned that he wished he could have one too. He's a peanut butter freak, so we got him a Reese's Peanut Butter Blizzard cake from Dairy Queen. He has no idea and won't until he picks it up on Sunday, so I'm really excited!
*That my appointment went well. My lungs look good, but the doctor is more concerned about the mass in my skull base. Because of its location, it can cause problems with breathing, which he believes is what's causing my shortness of breath. He also says I have neuromuscular issues, caused by my NMO, which could be ANOTHER problem with my breathing if those muscles are weak. I go back next Tuesday for another test to confirm his theory and then we'll video chat in a month about the results.
Something I'm Proud Of:
Probably silly, but since we left so early for my appointment, I didn't have enough time to write in my journal. When we got home (after being gone all day) I was so sore and wiped out that all I wanted was to forgo writing in my journal or doing my daily poem and just wait until tomorrow. But I'm doing both anyway, when I normally wouldn't have. Keeping up on my journaling is very healthy for me emotionally and writing this book of poems will be life-changing for me, so I'm not going to fail.
Tomorrow I'm Looking Forward To:
*Straightening up my room. I'd really like to create a space for writing at my desk. Plus, my room is a bit small for my big furniture that it's hard to keep it as clean as I'd like.
*Getting the first book in the new series I started. I just finished the 11th book and would like some background to see if I want to read the whole series, but so far, I REALLY love the characters. If you've not heard of the Myron Bolitar series by Harlan Coben, you ought to check it out.
