One of the very few good things I'll praise youtube for

Regardless of how much or how little I use the "don't recommend me this" feature, I'll usually see at least one or two videos with only a few hundred views from very small channels in the sidebar each day. Even if I never watch most of them(the 'tism heavily biases me towards what I already know), the mere fact that youtube is promoting smaller channels at all is a very, very good thing. It shouldn't have to just be the bigger guys like Jacksfilms or the Critical Drinker having to do shout-outs all the dang time in order to help boost smaller creators. That's real great that they're doing that, but it ain't they're job to do so; it's Youtube's. And now it finally looks like they're doing it.

Which... it's right. I am single. But I'm also aroace lol, like no amount of allo-ness aroace

I blame my curiosity on gendered issues/gender and society and watching videos about that which bleed into dating issues

My youtube recommended page is absolutely flooded, FLOODED, with random videos with less than 100 views uploaded two days ago from channels I'm not subscribed to and have never heard of, and they all inexplicably talk with vaguely eastern european accents like early 2000s internet cartoons. The topics aren't even related to videos I've watched before, it's just random promotion. I guess it's good that these small channels are getting shown around, but I'm not the demographic for any of them so they're being wasted on me.

i'm getting videos i've already seen recommended to me on youtube, except they now have different, snappier thumbnails. what is even going on? is youtube rolling out rolling out some 'ai remakes your thumbnail so your video gets more engagement' feature?
