YouTube says it will intentionally cripple the playback of its videos in third-party apps that block its ads. A Monday post in YouTube's help forum notes netizens using applications that strip out adverts while streaming YouTube videos may encounter playback issues due to buffering or error messages indicating that the content is not available. "We want to emphasize that our terms don’t allow third-party apps to turn off ads because that prevents the creator from being rewarded for viewership, and Ads on YouTube help support creators and let billions of people around the world use the streaming service," said a YouTube team member identified as Rob. "We also understand that some people prefer an entirely ad-free experience, which is why we offer YouTube Premium." This crackdown is coming at the API level, as these outside apps use this interface to access the Google-owned giant's videos. Last year, YouTube acknowledged it was running scripts to detect ad-blocking extensions in web browsers, which ended up interfering with Firefox page loads and prompted a privacy complaint to Ireland's Data Protection Commission. And several months before that, the internet video titan experimented with popup notifications warning YouTube web visitors that ad-blocking software is not allowed. A survey published last month by Ghostery, a maker of software that promotes privacy by blocking ads and tracking scripts, found that Google's efforts to crack down on ad blocking made about half of respondents (49 percent) more willing to use an ad blocker. According to the survey, the majority of Americans now use advert blockers, something recommended by the FBI when conducting internet searches.

EAH Not Server Based Game but kinda Sorta Server Based Game update 26/4/2025
I've been working on getting the game playable for 8 months. Here's what I've figured out since I last did an update post:
OK, so a complete (?) list of reasons the game doesn't work:
It's trying to connect to YouTube's API to play videos in the game. YouTube has been updated a couple of times since 2015, so much like trying to talk to your former best friend at your high-school reunion, neither of you has any idea how to connect to each other.
It's trying to connect to Facebook's API so it can save/log in data. Facebook isn't even called Facebook anymore, so again, it's freaking out
It's trying to connect to Google+ to log in/save data. Google+ doesn't exist anymore
And the biggest problem: A majority of the app is built on the assumption that you have GMS installed. This is a fair assumption. So, why is it in the problem category?
Well,
GMS (Google Mobile Services) is a fun bundle of APKs that come pre-installed on most Android devices. This basically means that if you go down to Best Buy and pick up a Google Pixel 9, it'll have hidden system apps on it that basically handle things like notifications or, say, wifi connectivity. So, if you're a mobile developer and decide you'd really like to have your app send notifications to user, but you don't want to reinvent the metaphorical wheel of sending notifications, you just have your app talk to the system apps already on your user's phone and tell them to send notifications.
Now you may see where I'm going with this.
GMS is just a collection of APKs, and APKs need to be replaced with a different one if you want to update it. Naturally, Google really wants to update the structure a majority of Android apps function on for security or to collect more data on Android users.
The eah game is running on the assumption that GMS from a decade is installed on the user's device. And it's not just in charge of ads, microtranactions, notifications, or logging in. IT'S RESPONIBLE FOR GESTURES AND SEVERAL EVENT TRIGGERS AND ANIMATIONS.
In the games' current state, to get basic functions working like responding to tapping the screen and loading mini games, we need GMS from about a decade ago.
To get the game working, there are 2 options:
Just kinda start launching the version of the game that works the best with different versions of Jellybean (Android 5) era GMS APKs installed and hope of them works
Rebuild the game to not rely on any GMS or modern GMS
Can you guess which one I'm gonna try first?
(Sidenote, I'm very adverse to completely rebuilding the games because 1, that'd be a giant project, and 2, I want to keep as much of the original game intact as possible.)

Your All-in-One AI Web Agent: Save $200+ a Month, Unleash Limitless Possibilities!
Imagine having an AI agent that costs you nothing monthly, runs directly on your computer, and is unrestricted in its capabilities. OpenAI Operator charges up to $200/month for limited API calls and restricts access to many tasks like visiting thousands of websites. With DeepSeek-R1 and Browser-Use, you:
• Save money while keeping everything local and private.
• Automate visiting 100,000+ websites, gathering data, filling forms, and navigating like a human.
• Gain total freedom to explore, scrape, and interact with the web like never before.
You may have heard about Operator from Open AI that runs on their computer in some cloud with you passing on private information to their AI to so anything useful. AND you pay for the gift . It is not paranoid to not want you passwords and logins and personal details to be shared. OpenAI of course charges a substantial amount of money for something that will limit exactly what sites you can visit, like YouTube for example. With this method you will start telling an AI exactly what you want it to do, in plain language, and watching it navigate the web, gather information, and make decisions—all without writing a single line of code.
In this guide, we’ll show you how to build an AI agent that performs tasks like scraping news, analyzing social media mentions, and making predictions using DeepSeek-R1 and Browser-Use, but instead of writing a Python script, you’ll interact with the AI directly using prompts.
These instructions are in constant revisions as DeepSeek R1 is days old. Browser Use has been a standard for quite a while. This method can be for people who are new to AI and programming. It may seem technical at first, but by the end of this guide, you’ll feel confident using your AI agent to perform a variety of tasks, all by talking to it. how, if you look at these instructions and it seems to overwhelming, wait, we will have a single download app soon. It is in testing now.
This is version 3.0 of these instructions January 26th, 2025.
This guide will walk you through setting up DeepSeek-R1 8B (4-bit) and Browser-Use Web UI, ensuring even the most novice users succeed.
What You’ll Achieve
By following this guide, you’ll:
1. Set up DeepSeek-R1, a reasoning AI that works privately on your computer.
2. Configure Browser-Use Web UI, a tool to automate web scraping, form-filling, and real-time interaction.
3. Create an AI agent capable of finding stock news, gathering Reddit mentions, and predicting stock trends—all while operating without cloud restrictions.
A Deep Dive At ReadMultiplex.com Soon
We will have a deep dive into how you can use this platform for very advanced AI use cases that few have thought of let alone seen before. Join us at ReadMultiplex.com and become a member that not only sees the future earlier but also with particle and pragmatic ways to profit from the future.

social media is pushing their luck lately on all fronts. even when you understand their mindset these changes are risky - mainly operating under "social media is like a slot machine" kind of mindset, since thats effectively the same thing.
my point is: the best thing they can do is make it as easy as possible to use the website and develop addictions, any friction hurts this and this is why selling data is their strongest practice, *its invisible to the user*. ads, like promoted posts and such, are less intrusive. theyre just another post. ads, like how youtube does it, are very intrusive and frictional. ads still need to exist for data collection to be worth anything to the corporations, but from a social media companies perspective data collection weighs more on the scale.
but recently, theres been a few interesting developments. its not like ive been to shareholder meetings and can predict exactly what the baby eating ceos are thinking, but - i think they believe the addiction the average person has is so powerful over them that they can get away with putting more friction (or theyre just fucking stupid). the examples im talking about right now are twitters "$1 subscription" and youtube waging war on adblockers. twitters seems like just a fucking stupid descision but youtubes seems more calculated, but its still some big friction.
seriously the twitter thing is unbelieveably stupid friction if youve ever been like... on the internet without access to a credit card you know the difference between free and not free VERY well. the subscription idea will probably get dropped but if it somehow does go through like. every kid will not use it for certian, anyone who... yknow... evaluates the worth of the thing theyre buying even SLIGHTLY will quit, like... the only people that will remain are the blue checks who are not beating the nonsentient allegations. anyway.
i dont know how "normal people" use social media. i surround myself with people who are quite aware about the mass gangstalking of users and are generally above average in tech-proficiency. i dont know the social media habits of jimmy age 25. maybe jimmy will just deal with the friction, but the people i know are fairly averse to the friction and are just... using the sites less because of it. there doesnt really seem to be a stopping point in adding this friction until the site owners get burned somehow (unless youre twitter lol theyre gonna keep doing shit until the servers cant afford to be paid they have NO brakes). i guess we just have to see how much it takes for the lowest common denominator to get too annoyed with social media before sites stop their nonsense
uh, anyway, im gonna take a break from youtube until theres a way to use an adblock on it. a week? a month? never? well, thats fine. i quit reddit basically for good after the API change i can drop a site again if i need to

YouTube в Foobar2000
Для того, чтобы окончательно записать Фубар в лучшие программы на ПК на все времена мне не хватало только плагина YouTube Source.
Tumblr media

Second EAH Game Update 1/3/25 - I have a very good idea of why the servers even exist
I need to look through the code to confirm this but I think I figured out why the eah game even need to be connected to the internet.
Looking through the code and videos, everything seemed to be hosted locally and would have no need to be constantly online and have google+ and Facebook and storage be sign in options. Thank you so much to @speaking-riddlish for stopping me for a second to actually think through servers again.
It's caused me to remember a different game (csr classics) with the same fucking permissions but csr classics still works! And why is that?! They just removed the online play and redid it to be single player only!
Literally as writing this I'm looking at the code why does it need to connect to the internet?
Optional online service to save your data on your account, possible play online functionality in the form of a high score leader board
And
There's a live feed for the new EAH MEDIA.
It's using YouTube api functions from like 10 years ago! There was a built in media player but there obviously not going to store all of the media locally!
I feel wildly incompetent and like I've discovered the most important thing ever all at the same time
Sorry if this feels incredibly frantic and rushed together

youtube-dl broke!!!
I cannot download anything with this anymore. Google API changeoids!
Here what I use now
Android or PC.
FreeTube
Want the APK?
FreeTube Cordova APK is only available on Izidroid F-Droid Repo, not the official F-droid right now.
E.g., you want to Download this video
youtube
Share, Copy URL. Or pick URL from address bar
In FreeTube, paste to the search bar.
Tumblr media
And you'll immediately open video
Tumblr media
Click Download,
Tumblr media
Since FreeTube couldn't merge best video & Audio properly, download more than 1 files there is to it:
Best Reference (720p 30fps video MP4)
Best Video (in this case 1080p60fps Video only, yours could be higher so pick that one)
Best Audio (usually the most bottom Audio Only)
Subtitle (the SRT on the most very mosr bottom if available)
It will open files directly in your Browser. Simply right click, save as.
Merge later or now with FFMPEG. Tutorial later idk how.
Enjoy, sorry it succ.
I used a wrong APK!
E.g. LibreTube.
This LibreTube APK
As you can see you would find this in F-Droid. Yes, official F-Droid repo.
The download file unfortunately when you download those video with this APK, the files are on Emulated SD Card, Android, then Data. Yes, Android Data folder instead of Gallery. Worse newest Android version forbid viewing this folder in a typical setting without root. But still can be viewed with MTP (connect to USB).
Connect your phone to PC by USB Data Cable.
(Windows) Open My Computer, your phone, internal memory, Android, Data. The LibreTube package is com.github.libretube so find the folder and open that. There is a folder called file, open that.
Tumblr media
Copy (do not cut, just in case) everything inside folder files.
Tumblr media
Paste these file out from your phone, e.g. your homework folder.
I think these are separated. You can merge those respective downloaded files later with FFMPEG. Again idk how. Sorry. Maybe later.
Enjoy, sorry it succ

Trillions of domestic phone records in the United States are tracked every year under a secretive surveillance operation, WIRED revealed this week. The Data Analytical Services program, which was previously known as Hemisphere, allows cops to request and analyze the phone records of people and others who they communicate with, including those not suspected of crimes. The surveillance system is run by the White House, with telecom firm AT&T providing phone records in response to law enforcement requests.
The crypto world kept tumbling this week. After Sam Bankman-Fried was found guilty at the start of this month, it was the turn of crypto exchange Binance and its CEO Changpeng Zhao to face scrutiny from US officials. The US Department of Justice unsealed an indictment against the company, which accuses it of violating US anti-money-laundering laws and of enabling Iran, Cuba, and Russia to launder dirty money.
If you’re in the US and have some extra time over the long holiday weekend, it’s also worth catching up on Andy Greenberg’s epic tale of the three young hackers twho brought down the internet with the Mirai botnet—and their story of redemption. Then it’s definitely time to log off.
That’s not all. Each week, we round up the security and privacy stories we didn’t report on in depth ourselves. Click the headlines to read the full stories, and stay safe out there.
Google Ups Its Ad Blocker Crackdown
Google makes most of its money from advertising—and it doesn’t like ad blockers, which prevent millions of ads being shown on websites every day. In recent months, the company has been cracking down on ad blockers on YouTube in a big way. But that’s just the start of it.
This week YouTube confirmed it has, in some instances, introduced a five-second delay before videos load if people are using an ad blocker in their browser. “In the past week, users using ad blockers may have experienced suboptimal viewing, which included delays in loading, regardless of the browser they are using,” a YouTube spokesperson told The Verge. The company admitted the delays had been happening after some people on Reddit and Hacker News spotted slow loading times and initially thought it was because of the browser they were using.
The move follows Google announcing last week that it is going ahead with plans to change how Chrome browser extensions operate, which may limit how some popular ad blockers work. Last year the company paused its plans to roll out Manifest V3, the platform that browser extensions work on, after complaints about how it would impact some extensions. As Ars Technica reported, Google is planning on rolling out a revised version of Manifest V3 in June next year. Google says Manifest V3 is designed to make Chrome run smoothly by reducing the resources that extensions can use and improve security. However ad blockers and privacy experts have criticized how the system works and, in particular, changes to the Declarative Net Request API.
Google proposed putting restrictions on this API but has relaxed these somewhat in the new version of Manifest V3. It originally planned to allow browser extensions to make 5,000 content-filtering “rules,” but it has now increased this to 30,000 rules. AdGuard, an ad blocker, has tentatively welcomed some of the revised changes. Elsewhere, uBlock Origin, which uses around 300,000 filtering rules, has created a “lite” version of its extension in response to Manifest V3. The developer behind uBlock Origin says the lite version is not as “capable” as the full version. Meanwhile, browser makers Brave and Firefox say they are introducing work-arounds to stop ad blockers from being impacted by the changes.
North Korea Is Increasingly Launching Supply Chain Attacks
Supply chain attacks, where malware is implanted in a company's legitimate software and spread to the firm's customers, can be incredibly hard to detect and can cause billions of dollars in damage if they’re successful. Hackers for North Korea are increasingly adopting the sophisticated attack method.
This week Microsoft revealed it has discovered the hermit kingdom’s hackers implanting malicious code inside an installer file for photo and video editing software CyberLink. The installer file used legitimate code from CyberLink and was hosted on the company's servers, obscuring the malicious file it contained. Once installed, Microsoft said, the malicious file would deploy a second payload. More than 100 devices have been impacted by the attack, Microsoft says, and it has attributed the attack to the North Korea-based Diamond Sleet hacking group.
After details of the attack were revealed, the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre and the Republic of Korea’s National Intelligence Service issued a warning saying that North Korea’s supply chain attacks are “growing in sophistication and volume.” The two bodies say the tactics support North Korea’s wider priorities, such as stealing money to help fund its ailing economy and nuclear programs, espionage, and stealing tech secrets.
Planes Are Being Disrupted by GPS Spoofing and Electronic Warfare
Some flights have had to change course or lost satellite signals in midair due to electronic warfare, The New York Times reported this week. The ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza have seen GPS jamming and spoofing technologies interfere with the daily operation of flights in and around the areas. The incidents, so far, have not been dangerous. But they highlight the increase in electronic warfare capabilities—which seek to interrupt or disrupt the technologies used for communications and infrastructure—and how the technology needed to launch them is getting cheaper. Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, electronic warfare tactics have become increasingly common on both sides, as drones being used for surveillance and reconnaissance have had their signals interrupted and rockets have been sent off course.
Russian USB Worm Spreads Beyond Ukraine’s Borders
Gamaredon is one of Russia’s most brazen hacking groups—the hackers have consistently attacked Ukrainian systems. Now one piece of its malware, a worm that spreads via USB stick and is dubbed LitterDrifter, has spread internationally. The worm has been spotted in the US, Hong Kong, Germany, Poland, and Vietnam, according to researchers at security firm Check Point. The company’s researchers say the worm includes two elements: a spreading module and a second module that also communicates with Gamaredon’s servers. “It’s clear that LitterDrifter was designed to support a large-scale collection operation,” the Check Point researchers write, adding that it’s likely the worm has “spread beyond its intended targets.”
