Have you ever heard what sounds pangolins make? They sound like metal scraping on the ground! It's no wonder they're associated with metalwork.

Oh em gee that's literally so true and so right and SO CUTE!! I'm imagining everyone constantly confusing the sounds on Wan Jian, even the disciples themselves, and only Wei Qingwei can differentiate them.

People are like "oh my god is one of your pangolins dying" and Wei Qingwei's response is just "nah, someone's sharpening swords" but then there's another type of sound that sounds practically the same thing, and Wei Qingwei freaks out and is like "OH MY GOD ONE OF MY BABIES!!!" Before just freaking out and running off.

Nobody can tell what's going on but Wei Qingwei has fine-tuned his hearing after The Accident that left him basically blind without using his cultivation to help his eyes work. If one of his precious children is in danger, then he will know.
